I liked going to this food4less.. whenever i was around the area.. which was at least twice a week.. and sometimes i would use my scarf as a mask..when it would happen that i did not bring mine cause i was not in my car.. but this last time that i went..it was a bad experince.. as i enyered an alarm went off and i thought that maybe someone had stolen something.. but as i was walking into the store the security was running after me and ask for my mask and i pointed to my scarf and she said no your mask if you dont have one you need to leave and pointed me to the door... i know we need to wear a mask.. i also work at an Ace store and when we get a customer who forgot their mask.. we provide them with a mask. we dont be telling them to leave.. yeah maybe she was just doing jer job and doing what she was told but being a little nicer doesnt hurt or being able to provide a mask for somebody doesnt hurt either.. i really dont think i will be going to that food4less again..
Very bad customer service skills. I will have to shop elsewhere for now . I called 3 times and was put on hold for 10 minutes each time and they hung up on me . I got put on hold every time I said I need a stock check for Vo5 shampoo .its not hard to say yes or no . Once I asked to speak with a manager they said ok and still I was hung up on after waiting on hold .
Standard Food 4 Less Experience. Plenty of parking. Staff were friendly and actually went above and beyond when I seemed to made a mistake and got the wrong item, the cashier sent staff and had them get the correct one, cheers to that. The store is kept clean and the produce is always fresh as well. Will be back!
Unavailable shopping baskets. All handicap wheelchairs block the entrance, they dont organize their store. It is very hard to pass through the aisles, ploy ease are constantly fixing inventory throughout the day which makes it hard to find the items you are looking for
Matthew was fabulous! He was the best person ever whom helped with Me and my inability to orient myself in the amazingly huge Food 4 Less! Haylee stopped me from having a total loss and wondering Distressful experience and turned it into a quest to gather my groceries. Matthew also knew where everything was in its tire store. Which I believe is separate from what his job was supposed to be, he knows the store front and back and he was able to tell me whether things are in stock or not. He is the reason why I was able to quickly gather exactly what I needed. Before I could even get to the aisle, he show up with that item in hand meeting me halfway down another aisle… His customer service impressed me so much that I just had to radio view and take my photo of check in at is he said he would be happy to do with me of him and IHad he bot helped, he would not have made my visit one to remember nor one to make me come back. Matthew, the young gentleman, was a very kind and was. exceptional with his customer service oriented and extremely knowledgeable of products and company ( Knowing which company owns northern California versus which company owns seven California Food 4 Less) That note, at the cashier YESINIA I also knew the answer to my question as to why the differences are so apparent in In Northern California and Southern California glasses. If you haven’t been in either or compared both Then you would probably not understand but there is a striking difference to you or just the way they are set up and the types of items offered. Both having benefits and pitfalls, but I was very impressed by both of these employees ability to know the differences in the answer to the question which I already knew, separate owners to the entities per northern and southern Cali stores.YENISIA was very friendly whilst I was in the store and she answered all of my questions regarding things out of stock, where things could be as well as a very friendly person in general. She was absolutely a customer service oriented person and always had a smile on her face.So thank you YESINIA for being such a wonderful example of what customer service is and should be for all people in the service industry as well as for all customers looking for the perfect person to ask a question to you :-)Also wanted to mention the security guard Ronnie M! We kind gentleman! Walk to my car and we had a lovely conversation and figure it out we had something in common, at Heritage :-) any cultural one. He was a very nice man and I just had a great experience.
I am a disabled veteran with 22 years of service and always appreciate the food for less experience in Hawaiian gardens. The store staff are always very helpful and I know they work to keep the prices down. For example, my children love salsa and chips and make a meal of it every time I make it. So I was thinking that i was a little short so decided to wait for the tomatoes to come down to about $.50 per pound. As I was leaving the produce area, I discovered there bags of ripe tomatoes 5 or 6 to a bag(normally 2.99 per pound at Vons) for only $.99 per bag.I purchased 5 bags, purchased green onions, limes, cilantro, garlic, and tostados I made a gallon and today, there is just a little left over.Thank you FOOD FOR LESS
Love shopping at this Food 4 less we have been coming here for the past 7 years not constantly until not too long ago we recently moved to this area now we shop more often than before I got to know the employees a bit better wich for the most part they are really nice excluding their manager and few of the cashiers wich Im not going to described you know who you are!!! 😜 wich are rude to customers and racist i would say more like unhappy human being other than that they have really good deals going on all the time specially when your on tight budget so got keep your eyes wide open for good deals and your mouth quite a bit shut when you dealing with that kind of people if thats what you want to name it!!! . 😊
Other than the small Hispanic groceries, Hawaiian Gardens is a grocery desert. Walmart Neighborhood market closed up shop awhile ago, so Food 4 Less is the sole American big box grocery in the city.Being one of those places where customers bag their own groceries, prices can be a little cheaper than the competition. I usually come here to stock up on Zulka unrefined, non-GMO 4lb sugar when its on sale. I prefer using this sugar when I make my monthly batch of kombucha. Ideally, Id prefer coconut sugar, but Zulka is a lot cheaper & Ive been satisfied with it, thus far.In the produce section, sweet potatoes often go on sale & I stock up on them to bake in the oven. Sweet potatoes are a low GI food, containing a number of nutrients beneficial to health. I mash a sweet potato, add almond/coconut milk as lightener, some ghee or virgin coconut oil, a few sprinkles of moringa powder I made & sometimes some chia. Filling & sustaining meal to be had there.A small clearance section in the meat department has me perusing through wrapped Styrofoam trays to see if I found whats for dinner. Of course, I always check the sell by date, as food illness is no bueno. Most of the inventory caters to the Hispanic community, based on the area the grocery is located. Bulk-sized quantities are available, for those looking to stock up on products. Im not a Costco/Sams Club member, as I dont feel the membership dues validate shopping at those places, but I am a proponent of saving money when I can.Service has been okay the many times Ive shopped here. A few 15 items or less lanes are on the left side of the registers. Parking is in a private lot.Food 4 Less is a respectable grocer for one such as myself. Prices are reasonable and I get a good deal on some items I have on rotation. I much rather go here than overpriced Albertsons any day.Recommend!
On a budget for a larger family or to find lower prices on products generally found at most markets like Ralphs. But also with less specialized or epicurean selection you would find at Ralphs. Also, if you want to throw a party without overpaying for booze, this place has the right liquor deparment and bulk papertowels, napkins and toilet paper for ALWAYS lower prices than Ralphs or sprWal-Mart for darn sure.
At the meat section, it always smells so bad as if the meat is some kind of gas leakage and I feel like throwing up. Ugh. Worst ever. Not only that, but I only see less than half the lanes open and many people waiting. Ive also seen people in the 15 items or less lane with over 20 items.
I live on the street behind this store - residents on my street have to constantly deal with Food 4 Less shopping carts all over the street, sidewalks, grass, etc. Carts from other stores that have been left by people in their parking lot are mysteriously dumped on my street every few days...

2021-12-23I give this place a 1 star because my mom tried to use coupons given by her work and they did not accept it. Supposedly we didnt have enough items or items needed to use the coupon. Which is the stupidest thing Ive heard because I had all the items needed. The person at the check out had to simply press that we had the items in our cart. She called the manager because she couldnt do it, and the manager simply said no without even throughly scanning the coupon.

2022-02-03A lot of the items are not priced correctly so when it is time for checkout it gets charged differently.

2021-02-03Shopped here for a yr.now. & have encountered very delightful/helpful staff. Their selections are small but offer huge variety. I truly appreciate them not being stingy with public restroom, as necessary for customers (with kids specially) .

2019-08-08They usually have great prices but with any grocery store there are items more expensive than other places. The customer. Service is hit or miss here. Sometimes they are very friendly others very rude. They offer hot food for you to buy if you stop there for lunch.Wednesdays are the best days to go as there are usually very good specials on this day. Some of the fresh food is frozen then brought out when needed. I know this because an employee told me. Youll be fine as long as you use the same fresh food right away.Great location as there are bus stops here, theres a 99 cent store across the street, a Starbucks, and recycling place too.

2019-04-08Great store, good variety, low prices, clean store, friendly employees. I especially love the security guard. He remembers you each time you come in and always makes a point to greet you. Exceptional employee. I shop here daily. The bakery makes delicious cakes, pastries, salsa (the one they make is by far my all time favorite), pasta salads, fried chicken, etc, etc. Its always super fresh, (unlike the other nearest grocery store).

2020-10-17This is my last minute, in a pinch store. It doesnt have every name brand food stuff I typically buy. They dont clean the conveyor belt or POS machine after each customer. On my last visit I noticed that they started carrying an objectionable candle with other religious candles. I will notify their corporate office about it.

2020-06-04I have been going to this store for 4 years and its being great. But this time the cashier Andrea showed up a really bad actitud that I never expected from any of their other cashier. Its a great store and Ill keep going, but Ill avoid that cashier Andrea!
