I had a great experience working out at fit this week. Very friendly staff, clean facilities and not packed with a lot of people. All the equipment is there that you need, and you’re always met with a friendly face. Pretty good assortment of drinks and proteins for you after your work out too. Everyone is wearing masks, and they have sprays and wipes if you want to use those as well. I had excellent service from the manager Anne who allowed me to bring a friend who was visiting from out of town and I was also give some cool exercise techniques from Josh. Overall great gym!
Signed up for a week pass. Friendly front desk, nice technogym machines, sizeable indoor turf area, 2 cable machines, 2 squat racks, 3 flat benches, clean bathroom, good lighting. The biggest thing I dont like is the low quality barbells. None of them have a middle knurling for squats and the knurling is very smooth. Very cheap looking and feeling barbells. They do have a deadlift bar which is nice but they should update all their other barbells. They also close a bit early at 9 on weekdays and 6 on weekends.
Im already a member of Fit, yet trying to get someone to call me back about swim lessons for my son has been impossible. They send out promotions for it and give contact info, but nobody has yet to make the effort. I even spoke to the people at the gym and they gave me the managers email, who hasnt bothered to return my email either. I dont understand poor, unorganized management at a gym when they need all the help they can get right now. Is this what I pay $100 a month for?
I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone. The indoor area is small. The pool is very poorly run, and poorly maintained. Many safety hazards raise doubts about their concern for their patrons. Mask mandates were not well enforced during the pandemic, including staff members who routinely didn’t wear masks covering their noses. The pool lifeguards are often either nowhere to be found, or hanging out on their phone, or socializing. More often than not, no one is consistently, actively scanning the pool to ensure everyone’s safety, even when the shallow area is full of children. Many chipped tiles on the pool walls are hazards. Patrons who want to do a short swim near the end of the day beware: staff frequently covers two lanes with the pool cover 30+ minutes before the pool closes, making the third lane over very unpleasant to be stuck swimming in. Sadly, the manager is extremely unprofessional. When I requested to cancel my membership due to safety concerns, I was told that needed to be done via email. Member services and the manager proceeded to ignore me for more than a week, before I called to discuss the cancellation. The manager repeatedly interrupted me on the phone, talked over me, and accused me of trying to use covid-19 to weasel out of my contract. I had legitimate safety concerns about the mask mandate being lifted without verification of vaccination status. Investment in customer service training would be worthwhile. Folks looking for a good pool can find one at the Poway community center! The Poway community pool is very well maintained, beautiful, and has active lifeguards.
They have a nice pool... several lanes like around 10 or 12... but for some reason they seem to have difficulty maintaining the cleanliness of the pool floor where often times sections of dead leaves and small branches are clumped together and the water can be murky. Overall its still a nice pool, just wish they could keep it cleaner
I absolutely love the encouraging environment this facility brings! The equipment is always clean and ready to use. The staff is always there to answer any questions or help I need. They have so many trainers who have helped me become accountable and knowledgeable in the gym. Fit really takes customer service to another level and Im so happy to be a part of it!
I called them regarding their weekend public pool hours and someone lied and told me its open all day I planned for weeks to go swimming with my friend and bought pool accessories I was looking forward to swimming only to get there and be denied. Awful place and awful customer service.
I absolutely love the facility, the people, and the amenities. I can always finish my workouts within an hour and fifteen minutes. Each morning is fun when you see all the usuals, and then this gym feels like a second home. Although this place is very friendly, the focus from each member is there. In a sense you feel motivated from seeing other members workout so hard.
By far my favorite gym to train at! Personal trainers are the most professional and friendly in the industry. They offer play care with plenty of classes to keep the kiddies entertained. Front staff always greets with a friendly smile and hello. Management makes sure any issues are resolved in a timely manner and goes out of the way to ensure everyone feels comfortable getting their sweat on. Recommend this gym for beginners to advanced lifters!
If you do what he says, trainer Bobby Cox will completely transform your body. I have been relatively fit all my life (dancing, swim, weight training); but, Bobby has taken me to an entirely new level of fitness. I will be (cough) forty this year, have had two children back to back, and I am stronger and leaner now than I was in my teens and twenties...and thirties. Bobby pushes you further than you ever thought you could go, he motivates you, educates you, and he gives you the confidence and skills to work out on your own. He is also invaluable when it comes to nutrition (and I really thought I knew it all). I am forever grateful to him because I honestly never thought I could look like this. Thank you, Bobby!!
In January I began working out with Sam. Each week I am amazed at the amount of thought, and effort he puts into planning workouts. I wanted a trainer that would not only push me, but to challenge me to be the best I can be. Sam does that and more. Each week is different, fun, and challenging. I have found muscles that I never new existed. Sam not only has the education and experience necessary but he has a unique ability to understand exactly what I can do, and to push me farther than I ever imagined I could go. Thanks so much!
I have been with this club on and off in the last 15 yrs. Like it very much for its swimming pool. The water mostly nice and clear. I hope they make it a bigger and deeper. I love the atmosphere, take a book read it by swimming pool. 1-3PM can be serene, not too many people and you can really enjoy the pool
I belonged here when it was Frogs years ago. Of all the places Ive worked out I find myself back here again and this is why:The entire club has been improved and the amenities are awesome. Having an outdoor pool is better than any other indoor pool because its not humid or smell heavily like chlorine. The benefits to members are outstanding. Discounts at a ton of local businesses, pool parties, and social events. The equipment is all new so youre not waiting for things to be repaired. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Its worth stopping by to check out if its a fit for you.
I moved my training sessions to Sam a couple months back and wow it was the right move. Sam more than surpassed my expectations. Sam takes the time to plan out each workout to bring me to new levels. He is able to explain the benefits of each portion of the work. We never do the same thing each week which make working out enjoyable. Sam is the real deal when in trainers.
Absolutely LOVE this place, the trainers are WORLD Class especially the manager Jim Patterson and the club managers and team were amazing and helpful when I had a sudden move out of California. Many fitness clubs are really stingy around their legal docs and agreements and basically tell you youre stuck, look at the fine print but this company didnt treat me like a number or a revenue stream, they were awesome!I also had the BEST experience training there with Jim and the club while I was in California! Thanks yall!
If you want a great workout, come to Sammis spin class! Shes FANTASTIC! She has a great format and she leads you through a challenging ride. When you finish, you feel energized and ready to tackle your day! Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 a.m. Yes its early, but you cant get a better workout or have more fun doing it!!!!
This gym is great! The staff here is very friendly. When I first signed up I told them I wanted them to give me someone who would kick my ass and make me sweat! So, they hooked me up with Sam. He was definitely the right man for the job. His workouts are intense and extremely beneficial. He is an outstanding trainer... for a Sharks fan :)
I worked with Sam for about 1 year meeting him at least once a week. I am very please with the overall experience. Sam is a great trainer, he puts lots of effort in creating plans that meet the fitness goals we set in the past. He is very knowledgeable showing that he did not only spent a lot of time in the gym working out but also on books. Sams workouts are fun and challenging at the same time and come with an explanation of how to perform every movement without getting hurt. With Sams help I feel more confident moving around the equipment in the gym and I can see concrete results that I would not be able to achieve by reading fitness books or getting random workouts from the internet designed for general purposes. Sams workouts are tailored on the customer needs making it possible to improve even in those days when the body feels more tired.I would suggest anybody to try some sessions with Sam and feel the difference.
Ive been training with Bobby Cox for a few months now and he is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST trainer and educator of fitness and health that I have had the pleasure to work with. Ive learned more in these past few months with him than I have in the past few years with other trainers. He is very knowledgeable about all modalities, nutrition, injuries etc., and manages to keep it all interesting and exciting! He is constantly educating himself and updating his training style. He will push you beyond what you thought you were capable of, his training sessions kicked my butt every time! For anyone who has never trained or is looking for improvements to overcome a plateau then I highly recommend Bobby Cox. You will not be disappointed. It will be the best gift you could ever give yourself!
Ive been training with Sam now for a little over a month and love the workouts he puts me through. Hes upbeat, helps keep me motivated and pushes me to get better each week. I already see results and love that Im excited again about getting up and going to the gym. Thanks Sam!
It’s a great gym, but the closing time needs to be adjusted to match their actual closing time they always shut the whole gym up around the last hour by 9 the outside is shut off completely. For better full gym experience definitely recommended going earlier in the day if possible.
The experience has been awful. I was injured by a clueless personal trainer, Alfred Lopez, who pushed me into lifting weights that are not suitable for my body. I ended up with a torn ligament and a muscle in left lower back. Next day I couldn’t walk, and the pain was agonizing. It took me two weeks to walk normally again. I notified the trainer and management team in the gym about the injury and asked to cancel my membership as my Dr advised me to stay away from the exercising for 2-3 months. The FIT staff couldn’t care less about my injury and in fact they charged two additional months. Unfortunately and sadly, the FIT management team doesn’t have an appropriate training program for the their trainers nor a great customer service. HUGE disappointment.
My opinion for what its worth... This used to be a great gym. Now it is terrible. It is virtually torture to the senses to even go there. The owner and manager have turned it into a disco with equipment (every little boys dream). They insist on pounding the place with their schoolboy disco music and the environment is horrible. The manager ignores his customers requests and is very condescending when he does. Unfortunately I think this gym, which used to be a valuable community resource, is on its way to failure because of poor management. Notice that you cant find the owner anywhere on the internet. There is a reason for that.
Approximately 20 months ago, I accepted a discount deal for three Training sessions. I communicated what type of Training Id be interested in, and Sam was recommended. My goal is to be as strong as I can be. Due to his education, intuition, observation skills, and ability to understand the uniqueness of those he works with (rather than lumping folk into some generalized, vague human model), the under the surface passion he has for weight training and body building, and his rational and logical guidance, I continue (at least) weekly sessions with him. With what I have learned from him, Im able to make my way around the weight room on my own and use the equipment and my body more wisely. My experience with him is exactly what I was looking for. My cursing frequency may possibly have expanded, but likewise my muscles are expanding and growing, and fat has been melting like water. His guidance is appreciated by me despite the emphatic vocalizations those in our vicinity may hear me utter.
Ive been working out here for about a year an have had nothing but a positive experience. My only gripe about this place is the wide variety of foods and prepared meals they have at their shop, albeit healthy and reasonably priced, theyre not so healthy for my wallet day in and day out! My physical fitness since working out at Fit is at a all time high, probably because I actually enjoy coming here because of its great atmosphere. Fit has definitely set itself apart from other gyms, with state of the art equipment and trainers, and a welcoming environment where the staff doesnt try to sell you something everyday(looking at you LA Fitness) and where the members are incredibly friendly and considerate, birds of a feather flock together I guess! Like the general facility, the pool is top notch. You really wont find another pool like it, close by or at any of your standard fitness clubs. Its large, uncrowded, clean, not overly chlorinated( perfect balance between salt and chlorine)and kept at a constant temperature, what more could you ask for?
Fit Athletic Club has transformed this gym into a one-stop shop for health and fitness. Their new equipment is unique to the area and they have everything from kettle bells, trx bands, Technogym, and sleds. The staff here is also great, energetic and helpful. They also have a variety of food and member events that doesnt compare to any gym I have visited. An amazing experience all-around!
I have been going to Fit and training with Bobby Cox. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has an immense understanding of kinesiology. He has tailored exercises to my personal needs and taught them to me in a manner that fits my learning style. Bobby is a skilled trainer and also has a wealth of information regarding health and nutrition. Additionally, he practices what he preaches and is a picture of ideal health in multiple ways. I am very grateful for the time I have had to train with Bobby and will carry these skills with me throughout my life, whether I am training in a gym or outdoors.
Terrible management and ran poorly. Some of the front desk staff is nice, but most dont know the culture of the gym or any information regarding the club. basically just walk in and they just say, take a look around and memberships cost like $80 something a month, we really dont the price.
Ive been a FIT member since 2010 and continue to be impressed with the facilities. I used to workout at the downtown location, and now more often at Carmel Mountain. All of the equipment, classes, and trainers are unbelievable. I wouldnt want to workout anywhere else!
Its ok I guess, more about it being very close to home for me. I have never in my life though been in a gym with the frequency of people shamelessly having 15-30 min. phone conversations on the floor exercising you can hear through ear buds and the PA system music, very rude. As another said for the price you pay one would expect the equipment to be in solid repair. Often a few arent working, port and personal electronics cradles on cardio are often broken.
I enjoy the gym and the emenities. Staff is cool. I do have to say that the teenie bop music loop in the morning is horrible. The older crowd in the a.m. hates it. Play more of classic rock. Its better to work out to and the a.m. clientele always say how they like it more than songs like, I want to be like Kanye.
Since Fit took over from Frogs, at which I was a long time member, the business practices are unethical. They first raised our rates without notice last year, after they had done some improvements to the gym. After discovering the charges, we were able to negotiate a better rate from the $89 month they charge, and reduced it but to what was still 2 1/2 times what we were paying previously at $25 month. (Same as LA Fitness now charges) On Jan 2nd they charged $120 to our charge card without notice or authorization for what they call a Facility Improvement Charge. While the upgrades to the facility were desperately needed, it seems the gym is also desperate about now paying for the improvements. I chose to cancel my membership, but they said they wanted 30 day notice so will charge for both January and February membership fees. My position that they should have given me 30 days notice of the unauthorized charges that would have allowed me to cancel in early December without charges in those months fell on deaf ears. Chad, the manager, has decided to take a hard line and is not interested in providing a reasonable level of customer service. After 20 years of membership at this gym, it is sad to be forced to leave under such underhanded circumstances.
This club is amazing! I have been to all the big box gyms (24 hour, LA, Chuze, Golds and Worlds), as well as crossfit gyms. This club has an incredible staff and amazing facility: from tennis courts and a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, to a high end weight room, high tech cardio deck, towel service and in 5 weeks they will have an outdoor turfed sports performance/crossfit area. If you want a beautiful facility without the meat-heads, come to FIT CMR.
Ive worked out with my trainer, Bobby Cox, for almost 4 years now. There was a brief hiatus because I moved from Carmel Mountain to Kensington and I tried to work with another trainer, but within no time I came running right back down the 15. I just cant quit him.Dont go to Bobby if you want someone to giggle with who tells you it is okay to have a cheat day because you deserve it. Go to Bobby because you want a hardcore trainer who is not a fan of excuses or dairy. Bobby Cox doesnt want to sit around discussing the merits of chia seeds and juice cleanses with you. Bobby wants to shape your body into absolute ideal form. Hell teach you how to treat your body like a machine, feed it the right things and do exactly the right exercises to get what you need.Fitness is not just a job to Bobby Cox. This is a dude that spends his spare time summiting mountains, skiing in Canada, making gluten and dairy free pizzas and taking classes on fitness so he can find new ways to kick my a*&* at the gym. Hes the real deal. And boy does he know what works- Since I started working out with him 4 years ago I have hit and maintained my goal weight, completed several marathons and a half Ironman, and gotten married (Bobby is not directly responsible for that last one, but hey, having good looking arms probably helped).People ask me who I work out with and I tell them to check out Bobby, but always with fair warning- the guy knows his stuff and he doesnt mess around. Go to him if you are serious about getting in shape.
Do you love sports? Do you have sports injuries? Do you prefer an alternative treatment rather than a cortisone shot? Do you want to improve your overall physical and mental health? If you answered yes to any of the above Qs, you need to consult Bobby Cox-he is a true master trainer and I am his grasshopper!I first met Bobby at his seminar for corrective exercise and sport injuries. That was over five months ago, I suffered from a variety of pain issues including wrist, shoulder, hip, lower back and ankle pain. The worst enemy was my tennis elbow. I was skeptical when he told me he could fix all of my pain issues and that he had trained tennis players before. How could I trust a good looking personal trainer who is not even a tennis professional?Well, I was wrong. Yes, I was wrong! But there is one thing I am right about. Guess what it is.Before even getting into the sport specific training, we had to work on eliminating my pain with proper stretching and corrective exercises. In the beginning, I was not performing my corrective exercises properly so Bobby had to correct my corrective exercise...This is why I need an actual trainer not a DIY way with YouTube videos or books.Bobby is very patient and he understands my poor English (at least he lets me think so) which is a huge comfort for a person like me. He also uses acupressure and active release techniques to reduce my elbow pain saving me additional charges from a chiropractor!Bobby has extensive knowledge on how to resolve pain and sport injuries. It seems like he know everything about health and fitness. He is a mobile wiki of that category!Ive been playing tennis again for about 3 months and I am stronger and faster than before. I am happy with my game and some of my tennis friends dont think I actually had injuries and that I secretly attended tennis camp! I actually followed Bobbys suggestions and continue to balance tennis days and workouts so I wont stupidly injure myself again. I am much smarter about my health because of what Bobby has taught me.Bobby Cox helped me recover from my injuries and improved my tennis! He did it and yes, I honestly consider him the BEST! Thats the answer. I am so right about that :)Sensei Arigato!!
I initially worked with Herb at Fit and it was going well. Since Herb notified me that he is leaving and that he has transfer me over to Mitch Loewenberg and that I will be in good hands.Mitch has proven himself to be very knowledgeable about weight training, nutrition, cross-fit as well as his work relating to his study to further his profession. He is cordial, professional and very enjoyable to work with. Do not let his age get in the way of his ability to train you. He knows his stuff. If you want to hit your targets and goals and be sincere about where you want to be with your health and physique, Mitch Loewenberg is the personal trainer for you. It is not a walk in the park and he will make you work...but you will see results!I unqualifiedly recommend Mitch Loewenberg to anyone who is serious about making a change to their lifestyle as well as their physique.Trent
I am looking to speak to the owner of FIT Athletic club. Wed like a refund for our membership to the Carmel Mountain Club due to the unbearable heat that has not been resolved in the past month. Chad is rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. Who is running this gym? Unacceptable and a big disappointment from Frogs.
A couple of months ago I signed up with Fit to get ready for my upcoming wedding. I was given a tour and introduction to the facility by Josh, who was wonderful. For my membership sign up I was offered three personal training classes included. Josh recommended Aliaksandra for me. It was a perfect match! After those three sessions I knew she was worth it and I have continued training with her weekly! Aliaksandra is an excellent trainer that pushes me every session. She is always organized with a schedule ahead of time and never wastes any time during a session. I also love that she mixes training up every time! It is never the same old thing. I have learned so many different strength training exercises to keep each session interesting and always leave feeling accomplished! She has so much experience as a trainer and is really helping me meet my wedding goals! Aliaksandra is a pleasure to be around during the session but still maintains focus and professionalism at all times. I would recommend her to anyone looking to do personal training! She is the best out there! 💪

2022-06-02I love this gym! Thank God Josh convinced us to give it a try, we are super happy with the experience. We also were out of country for couple weeks and he were able to work with our schedule to make sure we were not over paying the times we were not using the gym. I really appreciate his commitment to this place and his genuine personality. I always feel heard when I talk to Josh.PS: Fit management, please find a solution to women sauna. It is not working properly for a while nowThanks!

2022-07-01FIT closed their Solana Beach location, sold their member database to the Boxing Club which shut things down for two months. After which the new owner began to bill clients even though it was a brand new concept and the new gym owner did not have a contract with the client. Clearly, FIT gave credit card information for their members to the buyer of the facility. How would you feel if your personal information was treated in such a cavalier manner? I find it totally unethical, as do a number of other former members of FITs Solana Beach location.

2022-05-24I had a delayed flight and wanted to pass the time. Most other gyms gave me a hassle since I don’t have membership but Josh at the front desk was amazing and got me free day pass. I appreciate that hospitality and the gyms overall cleanliness. By far some of the best machines for core workouts!

2022-02-11I recently signed up for training sessions with Alexandra, she is probably one of the best trainers I’ve ever had. She doesn’t waste your time, and goes straight to focusing on your workouts. She has a great attitude, a lot of positive energy and makes sure that you are staying on track with your fitness plan. Some trainers at other gyms will waste your time and hardly be interested in your ultimate results. But I can say Alexandra is extremely caring and motivated and understands how important your goals are. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer whether you are in tiptop shape or just a beginner, she knows all levels of training. She is also an expert at stretching, weight lifting techniques, cardio exercises, core workouts, nutrition, and rehabilitation. Trust me, you will be happy that you chose to go with Alexandra for your workout needs 👍🏻🙌🏻💪🏻

2022-04-11Please be cautious when quitting this gym. I continued to pay for the gym for nearly two years due to the pandemic, although I never used it. I had been a member for years. I decided to quit the gym, explained that as a generous individual, I had been paying to help the personnel at the gym during the pandemic. Upon quitting they hit me with an additional two months fees as you have to submit in writing to start the process. Anyway, so sad nobody there could help me. It isnt the money but the complete disregard and apathy and the personnel ignoring my generosity.

2021-07-21I love this place. From Gordon to Jake to Josh and many others, I have had all amazing experiences with the team. Equipment is really good and have a solid variety of weights, machines, and workout areas. The pool is kept very well too. All of the members are respectful and I havent had a single issue. Honestly, the only thing missing from the gym is a cold plunge/hot tub, otherwise its perfect. Id highly recommend Fit at Carmel Mountain.

2020-08-06Big kudos out to FIT Athletic Club during this pandemic. They keep finding ways to keep their members going. Worth checking out for sure. Great outdoor space with limited patrons. Once the doors to the actual club opens, then there will be more options for cardio, weights and also the classes. Friendly staff who are willing to go above and beyond.

2021-07-09If youre looking for a clean gym with respectful members and an incredibly personable staff - look no further. I have had long-term memberships at 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, and Sweathaus, and nothing comes close to the experience Ive had at Fit. My experience was awesome thanks to membership representative Josh. Josh was amazing in accommodating to help me find a membership that worked perfectly to meet all my needs. With my unique work schedule, I travel quite often. Gyms like 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness were unable to accommodate me the way Josh was able to. In my 10-years of experience as an avid gym goer, Fit is by far the best gym + experience (thanks to Josh) I have had with any fitness organization in San Diego.
