Love the name of this bookstore, after the Ray Bradbury novel. The store has a great selection of books, and when I moved to Carlsbad 4 years ago, I wanted to find a book about the history of Carlsbad, Ca. They had one, which was a little more that I had expected to pay, but it was worth the price, because I had learned so much about town from that book.Ive seen that the owner is trying to sell this bookstore, and I hope new owners are as good as the present one. Thanks for providing such a deservedly well loved store.
One of my favorite places in the Village. The entire store smells like old books because it is filled to the brim with them. Has low prices for used books that are still in good condition and has a nice atmosphere. Those that work there always seem eager to help if you have questions
Fortunately this book store in our Village of Carlsbad is still thriving 12 years after relocating from Inland SD. The owner is a lifelong bibliophile offering an eclectic revolving selection of modern, classics and everything in between.Including a great selection of first prints and rare editions. All in the Heart of The Village within a few blocks of the Pacific Ocean, food, train tracks & drinks. What else could you ask for?...EnJoy!
Prices were ridiculously high for used books. Barnes and Noble has the same BRAND NEW books for way less. I also found the same USED books for less than half what this place is selling them for. $8 for a used book that was $3.99 when it came out?? Are you serious? And then trying to say its a collectors item...I found the same books on amazon, ebay, barnes and noble and a few other places for a fraction of the cost. The kids section was a joke. They had to fill it up with other books to make it look full. My daughter was upset she couldnt find anything. Dont waste your time or your money.
An ongoing turn around of a fantastic selection of books! Also the perfect stop on the way to the beach! From books on Art, Spirituality, First Editions, Major Collectors items, and even a section of steamy sizzlers that are meant for beach vacations, this Carlsbad Landmark delivers!

2022-05-15This is a perfect used book store for me. Lots of variety. And the stock is constantly changing. So you have to keep going back! The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful.

2022-01-30Required to wear mask even though there isnt a state mandate to do so. If you dont have a mask they offer to sell you one instead of just providing one.... Lots of cool older books inside the store though... Just dont forget the mask.

2018-03-20A very quaint used bookstore with anything you can imagine. The owner is very friendly and informative. They carry from antique books to new releases. If you are a book lover, I recommend a trip here for sure.

2021-07-16Have visited 451 several times in the past few years and loved the experience. Amoung other books purchased there was a mint condition set of the Person Memoirs by Ulysses S Grant. Going to Carlsbad soon and will definitely be shopping there again!

2021-08-13I love love love this bookstore. The subdued and kind owner barely got thru covid 19 customer loss. But here he is. Buy ORIGINAL, SIGNED BOOKS or rare and lovely books in an era where book beauty is rare. Ask for the category or general interest and he will walk you thru it. Mask up as he is not a young whipper snapper and is avoiding a trip to the hospital. Ask questions. He has answers or will look up wha you are asking. Roam around and enjoy.

2021-03-11I love browsing old bookstores. This place has every genre, even some with classic bindings. These bookstores need to be preserved, especially with libraries being closed. Great location across from Carlsbad Village Faire.

2020-12-22A decent selection of books and media for a price equalling to about 45 to 60% off. lots of singed editions if you are into that, however be wary of bringing your children here. Quite a few lewd/nsfw paintings/drawing are hanged up around the shop. The owner was polite and helpful.

2020-08-27A great little book store owned by an old man that is a book enthusiast. Has a wide array of books, especially high quality linen bound and embossed collections. Worth a look! As of 8/15/2020 he is only selling books and taking donations. Help support a local store!

2019-10-08This is such a cute bookstore! They sell used books and from all different genres. They also are up to date and have recently released books as well.I loved just coming here and scanning all the different books, grabbing one that sounded interesting and plopping down at a desk on the second floor. Definitely a gem in the area.
