I had the opportunity to teach, preach and disciple with the homeless. It was the best opportunity I have ever had. I will always reflect on the time I had down there.

They open the doors at 8:30 am then at 9:30 am after attending a mandatory service they serve breakfast. NO LUNCH. Dinner is after a 7:45 pm service at 8:30 pm. Thats when they commence the ritualistic feeding of the sheep. (clothing EXCHANGE [not giveaway], is done on MONDAY & THURSDAY at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm.) GREAT PEOPLE DOING GODS WORK!! GREAT PLACE TO WORSHIP!! I go even though Im a Deist not a Theist Emmanuel B. Is a drama show and I enjoy the fellowship. (Be careful where you set your stuff though, theyll put their stuff down next to your stuff so its easier for them to go through and/or steal your stuff). Many of them think its funny that they have no manners and 8 out of 10 of them are thieves or worse. Theyll cut in line too. Disrespectful, loud mouthed, ghetto trash. GOOD DAY!!

Pros:You can learn the bible and theres a library full of resources. You can learn to serve the Lord for beginners. If you want to make a career out of this. This is the place to be.Cons:The environment can be very toxic at times.Politics, politics, politics.Position takes precedence over helping people.Their doctrine is all over the place. Not a good place if you wish to look for outside employment. The location is not ideal, especially for someone whos struggling.Favoritism is sometimes present.Leadership frowns if you desire to take a different path in life

The Lord uses this shelter to raise up Christians wholl not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; wholl take light into this fool-hearty world. Its a temporary home - a place to learn the power of prayer, as well as receive the assurance of Gods amazing grace, not only for self but for others, and with others. Peace resides there.

The nature of this review is to simply state that this rescue mission is not at all funded by the state or federal level. This is completely funded by local churches. Its hard work and donations are greatly appreciated.

Its such a pleasure serving the homeless. This location is right in the heart of skid row. Makes you appreciate and value what you have. A place where Gods word is preached and many are saved.

The program is great with strict biblical principles and quality preachers and teachers instructing on a daily basis, so the Word of God is stressfully emphasized. You can learn from staff, who have experience and wisdom. On the down side, it can get overwhelming with most people putting on a show just to impress the directors, plus there is are too many chiefs and not enough Indians, in which they want to play the role of teacher or boss. Cliques are formed to the point where theres the unfortunate mistrust between program men and staff. The atmosphere can be both positive and negative, but thats for most places.

Im a volunteer at this mission and can honestly say every effort is made to provide what they have freely to everyone in need of their services. God is blessing this mission without a doubt.

Emmanuel Baptist Rescue Mission is serving the Lord in a very difficult area of the city. They are doing an excellent job of showing each guest the love of Christ and lending a helping hand.
