We went to this location around 9:18pm to try to get some late dinner. We ask the worker if the place was closed since the sign posted outside said they were open from 10-10pm and he said YES they were open. We thought that maybe its New Years and they might be closed earlier so we ask again and the worker said YES they are open and can take orders. So we placed our order and wanted to use the restroom to wash our hands cuz of COVID protocol. But the store manager, Elizabeth, blocked the entrance of the restroom with The trash can and said that we are not allow to use the restroom because they close at 9:00. Its confusing because the other worker stated twice that the store is still open and we already paid for our order. So we had no other options but to wait for our food without being able to wash our hands to dine in. The food came out quickly but was cold. If Im not mistaken, this could possibly be old cooked food and who knows might even get some spit on from the manager. I believe this might be an act of prejudice against minor thinking that we do not understand the hours of operation. I believe that I was tricked by this store and was forced to consume old cooked food. I feel like Ive been cheated of my consumers right to have good customer service. I would like to have someone contact me regarding this unfortunate matter. I feel very discriminated at this location on 2820 Lenwood rd Barstow CA 92311. I think the store manager just wanted to leave early and refuse to fulfill her commitments as a ethical manager
Normally its good but not today. They gave me dry pieces of chicken on my salad that i couldnt even chew.
Delicious healthy option as an alternative instead of mcdonalds double protien avocado salad yes sir.
Services was nice, but they gave us tomatoes sauce expire, as soon as I tasted in my taco, it made my stomach upset, I still ate from our family meal. I will definitely never stop there again, I was on my way back from visiting my brother.
Hadnt been to one for several years but it was just like I remembered. Great chicken, beans, rice, and tortillas. The salsa choices were a little problematic: the pico was terribly underwhelming as it was basically mashed tomatoes, the roja was OK but a little hot for me, but the avocado was probably the best. Service was outstanding.Hope to get a chance to try it again on this trip.

They lady at the drive thru was so unfriendly. I almost drove off without my food. Has no compassion. I was with my deaf mother and she was rude and practically thru the food at me. I wish i got her name. The food was dry and over cooked.

Had the staff had better attitudes I would rate a 5 but when we asked for more salsa it was as if we were asking for a million dollars. You allow your salsa bar to be open and you are able to get all you want but because we are In A pandemic I get an attitude for more salsa. Maybe a 2 is too generous.
Chicken avocado burrito was the bomb!! So good. Tried to do curbside delivery. They couldnt find the order until I parked and walked in. Oh, here it is. No inside dining yet.

Food was good although the service lacked a little. It seemed difficult to get the attention to the person to take our order and the ice machine wasnt working for sodas but the food was very tasty and presented nicely.
The churros are so on point usually. I think the prices have gone up everywhere and no exceptions here but atleast the food is still good.

I really like what they offer. I was never a fan of the place until I went for the 1st time 4 years ago in Victorville. I like this one in Lenwood because they deliver off an app that my oldest daughter used.

El pollo loco is generally a decent healthy-ish option for fast food. Everything in this store just tasted a bit off, from the salsa to the soda. Also the lady working the register was undertrained and left to fend for herself.

Start with the positives first. The lady taking our order and working the drive thru window was very polite and friendly. The Dr. Pepper tasted very good. My wife liked the macaroni and cheese side she had but thought that the rest of her food was just okay.I was very disappointed in the food I received. Hard dry chicken and all of my tamale plate was just above room temperature. Some how my wifes 4 pc. plate was hot. Even her tortillas were hot and mine were cold. We only took it about 400 feet from the drive thru window to eat if it was up to temperature it should have still been warm.This was a little after 8 pm on a Tuesday.

Normally we love this place but yesterday evening when we stopped in to eat almost every table was dirty and the trash cans were all full. The restaurant was basically empty, with hungry customers just trickling in. I used a wet wipe from my purse to clean off a table so we would have a clean table to sit at and I never saw any employees cleaning off tables during our visit. We have eaten there many times before and this was the first time I have seen the restaurant so dirty. The food was excellent as always but the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail made my visit less than a five star visit. We just chocked up the messiness to a bad manager that evening. We will be back.
Stopped by again on another road trip. Whether I had terrible luck the first two times or they did make changes, this location is great. Chipotle Chicken Burrito was juicy an delicious. Came around 5p. Awesome.[Original 3-star] Enjoy the chain, but Barstow location food has been sub-par on two separate occasions during prime-time hours. Enough alternative dining options to avoid another visit.[Edit] Contacted as requested. Will more than likely attempt a visit again on a future trip.
There are lots of places to choose from around here. Chose El Pollo because it had healthier choices. The food was good. My burrito was good size ( couldnt finish). The place was very clean and friendly staff. I deducted a star because the girl at the register was trying to sell candy bars for her managers kid.
We eat at this location often. Food is always good. Chicken seems to always be fresh and tasty, which I think is attributed to the restaurants proximity to I-15 and the outlet mall. Some of the other high desert locations suffer a bit from lack of business and their chicken isnt as fresh-tasting, but the Barstow location is nearly always on point. Sometimes during high traffic days the dining area gets a little dirty and at times its hard to find a seat, but all in all I really like this location due to the quality of the chicken.
For a place with pollo in their name, their chicken is awful. Their food tastes rotten and will make you sick. Stay away.
I like to go to buy my grill chicken to this place ...they serve it with corn or flower tortillas and your side orders...you can get rice,beans,salad or cold slaw and your favorite green or red salsa or serrano pepper... Delicious food to take out or it in...and your drinks...you can order chalupas too or guacamole salad ...they sale everything hot and ready to eat...and if you are in a hurry ?...you can use there drive thru service....

Not a happy person, the one I go to Im my home town is clean, fast, nice customer service and you dont die for eating itThe sauces where a mess, the spoons in others or laying on the counter top.We order before anyone else who can in and the some how forgot about our order.Me and some family stop by on our little trip to only end up all super sick! Two of us ate chicken and we had everything coming out of both ends.. some were mid cases and the one who didnt eat here was fine.Just letting you all know watch yourself you may need a bucket or two for this place

The only reason this location doesnt have 5 stars is because I personally find it hard to rate fast food on the same scale as full service Restaurants. Food is consistently very good, service is friendly and efficient, and this location has an expanded menu with tamales and mexican hot chocolate. A perfect stopping place on the California drive to or from Las Vegas.
The service was courteous, fast and friendly. The dining room was kept clean and the food was delicious. It was also presented well and actually looked similar to the posted advertisements. I had a great experience at this location and would recommend it to everyone because you cant beat good customer service and product!

Very dirty, trash inside store smells like a dumpster. Food trays feel gummy like they dont get cleaned properly.
Everything was fine. Food was good and the service was fast. There was a coupon on the counter that we did not see until after we had ordered and paid. We could have saved $6 on our meal had we seen it, or if the cashier had offered it. I know its not their fault, but it made us feel like we overpaid a little bit.

Order to 12 piece family meal through doordash the doordash driver went to go pick it up and the lady act like she didnt know where the order was and then she act like that we picked it up but we didnt even pick it up I think big mama got a little hungry and order

Janet was so wonderful, I come here monthly. A few days ago I got my regular the avocado chicken burrito but it was cold, no beans, mostly cabbage. Janet came by my table offering tooth picks and wipes. I told her about my burrito, first bad experience. Janet immediately took the burrito and had them redo it! She returned with a nice hot, beautifully browned tortilla full of all the things that I love. They are so luck to have such an amazing employee working for them! Janet was so polite and was concerned about my experience, that she made my visit wonderful for a weary traveler! :)
My husband likes Mexican food more than I do. This was his choice. I ordered a chicken wrap without cilantro, which came as ordered and was fine. Unfortunately, the little salad which came with it was full of little bits of cilantro which I tried to pick out, not completely successfully. I really dont like cilantro. It would be nice to have intelligent employees who could think that a dislike of an ingredient in one food would also mean a dislike of the same ingredient in another food. Its a good thing Im not allergic to it.
It was super busy, but the staff kept up pretty well with the chaos. The only thing was we ordered the fajita burrito and the didnt have any fajita veggies, but didnt tell us that until our order was up. Still was good

Not the best location Ive been to. I got the grande avocado bowl and it was initially missing cheese (got it fixed upon request) and only had 2 small slices of avocado on it...a little disappointing. Husband got the 2 piece chicken platter and the pieces were quite small. Weve been to other el pollo loco locations that were better.

The chicken was dry and lacked the normal citrus flavor. Chicken wings way over cooked. Celentro sauce was watered down. Coleslaw was watery aa well. However the employees were very nice and the place qas clean.

Mens room needed help. Ive never eaten at this chain, but I thought the chicken fajita burrito was very good. Salsas (I tried med. and house) were a little bland for my taste. The counter, drink bar, and dining area were a-ok and the service was pretty quick and polite. Ill be back.
My family and I enjoyed our meal today! I can say the food was hot and fresh. The staff was even better Michael and Maddison were great. Maddison took our order with the best customer service. Michael was cleaning the siting area but once Maddison said his name he immediately knew what to do. The line was to the dinner and with a second Michael was there to help. Maddison and Michael you guys are doing great. El pollo loco picked some great employees.

This is the ONLY Pollo Loco location where the service is above expectation. The place is extremely clean and the employees go the extra mile to assist you. The person (lady) cleaning the restaurant and tables is EXCELLENT.The food came out with no mistakes and rather fast for the volumen of customers at the time.Thanks to all the staff at this location. Good food at reasonable prices. Very clean place. After almost two weeks of hiking in Utah, eating sandwiches for lunch and burguers, hotdogs and pasta for dinner, we were very excited to eat fresh, delicious, Mexican style pollo!
This pollo loco was really crowded when I stopped by. We waited about 15-20 min just in the drive thru to order. The food didnt take long once we ordered and was cooked fresh. It would have gotten higher stars if our time could have been cut in half.
I have never had such dried outchicken before... we got the chicken rolls and the chicken was so dry it was gross even with the cheese and avocado did not help..

Left California many years ago and when we vicit, el Pollo Loco was and still is our favorite first choice for chicken, juicy tasty grill to perfection! pair with rice and beans, corn or flour tortillas and salsa love it! what? You never have tried it, give it a chance you wont regret it, enjoy the discovery of new tasty foods!
Barstow has it all when it comes to good grub on a road trip. El pollo crazy is tasty and so are most of the other venues .

The food was so good I went and got a second meal, I rarely do that, chicken was tender, corn tortilla was warm, a good value for the buck. Also the staff were all in a good mood and a good vibe, my truck haven exit will be for this spot .
Why cant every Polo Loco be like the one in Barstow. The meat was not burnt. The salsa bar was full. Roomy. Inviting. Very nice servers. But, I hate the napkin dispensers all of them use. My favorite.. under 500 calorie meals double chicken. The corn salsa is to spicy for my wife. So she gives it to me. I give her my avacado.. win-win
Well this is my first time to visit a Pollo Loco in California and I was very disappointed that kid that took my order he needs to be trained better and I pay for a three pieces meal to go and when I got to the hotel they were two pieces only ... The beans no flavor, th the salsa bar been there for a very long time nasty taste and the corn looks like been there all day long... Sorry No more Pollo Loco.. I hope I dont get seek ...good luck...

I was a little disappointed in this El Pollo. We only got the BRC burrito, and a salad. The burrito was smaller than other locations, but fine. My tostada salad was sad. It was nothing but lettuce, a little chicken on top, and thats it. Oh some rice and beans on the bottom. If you are a rabbit it would be great. I have had salad at other locations, and Santa Barbara was the most expensive, but the best. I was delighted to see an El Pollo in the middle of the desert, and I am sure their family meal is just like every where else. Just dont get excited about the salad.

Great location,easily accessed from fwy. Food is prepared fresh, fast and is great tasting. You can have a healthy and filling meal for yourself and family. Then continue on your travel destination.

The quality of the food and preparation was lousy. We sent the taco back because the shell was broken and unable to eat as a taco. The second one was the same way. The chicken thigh was not cleaned and prepared properly.

Great stop between LA and Vegas. Good grilled chicken and sides for reasonable dollars. Traffic can be a bit hectic due to being in the outlets. Horchata is a nice addition to the drink line.
This location gets alot of traffic bc of interstate 15, an it may be why the employees an management dont care about customer service. We stopped after a girls ALLSTARS Softball series game, weekend Sat afternoon, so there where 2 adults and 3 teen girls, my family lives in Barstow an they knew the menu, they try not to go to this POLLO location but the girls were hangry they stopped. Now, I have been gone since 2012 but come back for visits a couple times a year, an they generally go to different El Pollo locations, bc of the Interstate traffic crowds an other obvious reasons. So it been a while and when it was my turn, I didnt have my glasses an could not see menu boards, so I asked several questions, like what the RBC was, an it was like committing a cardinal sin; ended up ordering something that I didnt want bc they wouldnt take the time to answer my questions, it was the blank irritated stare then the unspoken words cast between employees, Like look at the dummy tourist, dont know what RBC is) btw, it means, rice beans & cheese in a burrito, so ok Im at EL POLLO LOCO translates to CRAZY CHICKEN, how the F* am I supposed to know that theres no chicken in a RBC, I wanted chicken an I got a burrito with rice beans an cheese it. OMFG REALLY SERIOUSLY! Oh & you dont return to have the order fixed, buyer beware. They do not care there, most traffic is from I-15, SO they dont have to care about returning customers or customer service, the price points too high, restaurant needed cleaning & the BATHROOM HYGIENE & MAINTENANCE was DISGUSTING, (the soft ballfields in AppleValley, facilities were better) sad but true. Lived there in High Desert 2000-2013, 13 yrs, so I can say WEST COAST for the most part about 95% of It is the norm to be rude, or irritated an bothered by customers, there are exceptions tho and I do recognize them in reviews or with Management... then I had to moved back to my home town in Southeast Alabama June 2013. I hate to say it but the WESTCOAST IS a stark contrast to the SOUTH where EVERYONE, even Mcdonalds, Hardees, KFC, no matter where you go, drivethru, sit down restaurant, grocery stores bag an carry out your groceries help you in shopping needs, everywhere they greet you an treat you like your family or someone important, this is the norm an in a state where they are only paid an Alabama State minimum wage of $7.35, yet employees love thier jobs an customers at least when they are working, the level of greetings, customer service, making sure you are 100% happy with the product an services an ratings they care about ratings and returning customers. I generally like EPL, but this visit was really bad. The chicken in my burrito was really dry & overcooked. My wifes requested veggie burrito came with chicken in it, which she doesnt eat. To top it all off, there was a drug addles, homeless guy pulling food out of the trash and eating it at the booth next to us.
Food was good. Staff was friendly. Think I came on an off night, they did seem a little overworked. They were out of ice, but managed to get me some from the back, which I appreciated.

Fast food is big business in Barstow, California... and this EPL was very disappointing. I ordered a 3 piece meal with two breasts and a wing and a side of guacamole from the drive-thru. When I got home the guacamole was missing and the chicken breasts looked more like chicken backs, one of them had no skin. It was ugly...Its sad because most the time, Pollo Loco is outstanding and this is the only one around here for several miles.
It was okay but Ive had better. My chicken was a little tough. The place was crazy busy so I would have to assume most people really like it.
Service was good, just dont get the nachos, they are not worth $7.50. I should of stuck with the Pollo Bowl, it is the best deal on the menu.
I got the avocado chicken salad. The lettuce was mostly iceberg, the chicken was hard and dry and the avocado was small and turning brown. For the money, Chipotle is a much better choice.

Place was pretty messy, they dont have the time to clean the tables, it is pretty crowded in the store, and the service was pretty slow. The food was good though, and the bathrooms were also in pretty rough shape.
Drive thru is really good when theyre not busy. My sauces and gravy spilled in the bag.
Chicken was terribly overcooked. Homeless in bathroom washing himself off from crapping on himself. Love Pollo Loco, but this was very discussing.
Love the food, but the place gets dirty quick and the staff has a bit of trouble keeping up with maintaining it clean.
Ate here twice on inbound and outbound trips. I thought the first time was a just a bad day because i like the franchise, but it was very bla the second time as well. Might as well got grocery store hot chicken and a can of beans. No attention to food prep, but emloyees are working hard. Try something else.

Its alright, the workers are very slow though. Especially the new young workers. They need to also clean more because its very messy (at least the times Ive gone)

Like usual the food was good went into the mens room very very filthy trash all over the floor no soap to wash my hands and I observed a employee going to the restroom and not washing his hands after he left but no soap to wash your hands trash is full it was a very filthy dirty

2022-04-11Staff was very respectful, helpful, courteous, professional and honest. A young man, probably his 1st or 2nd day on the job as cashier went above and beyond to treat all customers with respect, but there was a family there that was not respectful to him or any of the staff. My compliments to to him and the entire staff for remaining respectful and professional to that family and all customers. Myself and my family will continue to do business with them. Just an FYI...IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT THEN YOU NEED TO GIVE RESPECT. ALL BUSINESSES ARE SHORT STAFFED AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAIT AN EXTRA FEW MINUTES FOR A GOOD MEAL...I SUGGEST YOU GO HOME AND COOK IT YOURSELF 😀

2022-05-27The food was a real disappointment, the food wasnt fresh, the chicken was all skin & bone & very dry, & tasteless, & it looked like it had been sitting out for awhile. I had to request that they needed to clean the area before they prepared my food; they were just gonna prepare my food right in top of there mess until I said something. There tables were not cleaned off from the last customers, the whole place was messy& uncleaned & unkept, I was very disappointed, because Ive been wanting to try there new dipper food but it really truly awful I wouldnt recommend that restaurant to anyone, Ill never go back sorry!!!! 2019-09-08Great food and service all across the board I love it. My only thing is one the big discount gap between law enforcement and military? The food is fresh and I feel full every time I eat at El Pollo Loco. Madison and Abigail are great at taking my order, and are great workers handling large rush of people that comes through barstow El Pollo Loco. Thank you for the great food and service!

2022-06-26We just stopped here. Usually love the food. This time, the pico de gallo was completely fermented. I told the nice gentleman behind the counter that it was fermented and needed to be thrown away. He told the manager who looked at me and said they would make more. An apology would have been nice. An offer to remake my tostado salad that they’d already put it on would have been even better. But what is unforgivable is they continued to serve the rotten stuff to all the customers who came in after us.

2018-09-10Awesome meal with the 5 chicken Taquitos combo with Guacamole and chips.Great service, very clean restaurant as is spotless. No sticky tables or booths here.Everything was fresh and flavorful and on point presentation wise. Loved the fully stocked salsa bar including fresh cilantro.Will definitely be back here again.

2022-02-02Over priced food for small portions. Left there still hungry, smh. Chicken were like wings size and the rice was done with two spoon full. Only flavor was the pinto beans. Will never go back. There are a lot of other options in that area. What I mean by over priced is that for that small portion, the price should have been half or more than what they charge. Chicken was dry and no flavor. Had to add salt and pepper
