Pleasantly surprised when I had to go in to this DMV branch for Real ID. I have heard so many horror stories that I came prepared for a nightmare. Instead, I was in and out in 20 mins.Details : Made an appt online on the DMV website. Got an appt about 3 weeks out. On arrival, everything was really well organized in the entrance plaza area. There were separate lines for appt / no appt and people to direct you. Once you signed in and got your temp taken, you received a text msg with queue number. This way, you can wait outside in the fresh air. Once it is your turn (took like 5 mins wait for me), I received another text msg with a counter number to go to. Super professional staff, knew exactly what to look for, courteous and everything from that point was very efficient. I was back in my car in a total of 20 mins from arrival. My takeaway would be that there is plenty of information on the DMV website on what documents you need, etc, etc. If you come prepared, the staff there will do what it takes to help you and get you what you need quickly and efficiently. Impressed! Thank you staff at the Daly City DMV.
Before you arrive review the DMV website throughly. Making an appointment is not mandatory, but is highly suggested. Also keep in mind you can visit any DMV in California. There is at least one bus that drops off outside the DMV. If you drive there is a small parking lot. By 10am this filled up. Instead of waiting for a parking spot like others, I just went around the block and parked on the street. I walked through a parking lot and arrived at the DMV. It was less than a minute walk. When you arrive there are two lines (Appointment and No Appointment). The only signs that distinguish these lines are outside. But you will notice that the huge line is for those without appointments. If you are unable to stand for long periods of time go inside to see if you can be seen sooner. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my appointment time. There was a lady just inside the door that was very helpful and pleasant. When you get to the first window they will ask you why you are there. It took me about 15 minutes on a week day with an appointment to be first in line. You will then wait for your number to be called. This would be a good time to confirm you have all the correct paperwork if youre not sure. After about 30 minutes your number will be called. To give you an idea they call up someone about every 45-60 seconds. Once I was called, it took about 10 minutes for them to process my paperwork. It was there to get a Real ID Drivers License. In all, it took about an hour by the time I arrived until I left. There were simnifically less people in line when I left at 11:30am.The staff I worked with were all very patient and friendly. I was also friendly to them. The building has two unisex public bathrooms near the front. While youre waiting for your number to be called there is an area outback to get on your phone or smoke. Also seats are available while waiting for your number. When youre outside you will be standing. This allows you to go back inside, without waiting in line or walking around the building. There is not really a service or help desk. All the information you need will be online or you can call before. The building has free wifi.
I admire these workers and they are treated like trash by so many people. The number of problems they have to deal with is amazing. They were called names, questioned on requirements, and treated poorly. They never know what issue will be brought to them and then they are expected to have an answer immediately. They have streamlined the process and overall it was not a bad experience.
The agent was really helpful and knowledgeable (compared with Santa Clara office) and didn’t need me to explain a lot of things (what is 797 form, can I get real id when my visa expired, etc). It’s easy to get an appointment nowadays and with appointment I’m right the next one called when getting in. Finish real ID renewal within 15min (most of the time is spent on queuing for taking my photo). Really efficient.
Dare I say the best DMV experience of my life?Recently I had to renew my DL license and upgrade to Real ID. I uploaded all the info online and showed up at the end of lunch time with no appt. I was in and out in exactly 21 minutes. Everyone was so friendly and upbeat and helpful. Even the security guard was cheerful and was helping folks. Highly suggest this location since the lines are super small (and or non existent) and the staff is very friendly.
Staff are very rude and short. They have a attitude that they are better than everyone else. The worst location I have ever been to. Will be going to Redwood City next because they care and are extremely informative. Initially was going to be one star but being there was not much of a line I decided on two. (Not surprised that the public doesn’t go there.)
Youre just as well off not making an appointment here. The people who got in the No Appointment line minutes after I got in the Appointments and Disabilities line were served first. Provided the documents outlined for a REAL ID, but they told me the first page of my lease couldnt be used because while it had my name, address, and signature on it the person and their manager said the signatures needed to better state who the leasee and leasor was. Entirely invalid. It was spelled out. Theres a reason these people work here and not somewhere else.
I called and made an appointment ahead and when I got there I did not have to get in line. The service was very professional courteous and friendly. It was a very pleasant experience. I was there to apply for new plates and stickers which I got in 30 minutes. Amazing right? Oh the reason I needed new plates and stickers was because they were stolen when my car got stolen a month ago.
We went to the Daly City DMV yesterday. We did not have an appointment. We waited outside in line for about 20 before we were allowed in. The signage was clear to direct us where to go. Only one or two people in front of us at each line. My daughter was there to take her permit test. The staff was very pleasant with her which helped to put her at ease. When she passes the test many congratulated her and seem genuinely happy for her. All the staff that we encountered were helpful and professional. I had not been looking forward to having to go to the DMV, but it ended up being a positive experience.
I had to return to DMV to correct a problem with my real ID that I requested on 12-27-20. The DMV sent me a regular Drivers license not the real I D /Drivers license as requested. The staff was generally pleasant however there is more improvement in all areas as I spent three hours on a matter that could have been avoided. But I understand that it is a lot of work and there is never enough staff or qualified people to do the job. I do appreciate the hard work that you all do and I hope that you are compensated and recognized for what you do daily.
I needed a Real ID/DL renewal, so uploaded everything to the website a few days before and got my confirmation email. Went on a Tuesday around lunchtime, fully prepared to wait (and wait). BUT... they were really organized - had a few people outside to make sure you had everything you needed, another who filled out a ticket and checked temperature. They ask for your phone # to text you when you are ready to be seen - they were so fast I actually missed the 1st text because I was messing around with my headphones and had to sign up for a 2nd text. Even after missing that 1st text, the whole process was 30 minutes tops. I was super impressed. It took longer for me to upload the documents at home than to get my real ID...
Highly recommend applying online for whatever you need to do at the DMV and bring your confirmation number with you - even if it is handwritten. It will save you at least 20 - 30 minutes. If you are getting the RealID, definitely upload the documents from home (you can take photos of your documents and upload those). Be sure to bring the exact documents you uploaded with you, as they will need to see them to confirm your identity.Everyone working there was pleasant and very helpful. The lines are bit confusing when going from one area to another, but they have staff on the floor to help you.
Many will ask why I gave 5 stars. The reason being is because if you just need to renew your license or registration, complete a affidavit of non-use or remove it. And a few more items. I used this service today and was in and out of the dmv in less than 15 minutes. Its definitely a service Id recommend!
Excellent efficient service! So much better then San Fran location.Just make appt on-line.Get confirmation number.Fill out application 4 ID on-line next. Then get confirmation number.Arrive at the Daly City DMV.Stand in appt line.Very quick and saw a person right away.No waiting inside.Very efficient, esp considering the times!✌♥️😊
My experience:It really depends on your situation. But despite the line being long, it goes by really quick. On top of that one person makes sure youre not experiencing any covid symptoms. Thats really good and I feel a little safe sitting around there. If you ask a question or if youre not sure of something they help and resolve your problems right away. If its your first time, confusion does occur often which is totally fine. The whole process to wait for your number and everything felt less then 1 hour. Even if you miss one document theyre very clear and straight forward with directions. Such as renewing license and etc. People say that the DMV office in Daly City is bad. Ive been here a couple times other then the one in San Francisco it isnt so bad. It really depends on the workers and the staff. Overall, the experience was quick and easy.
I havent been to the DMV in several years, but I need to renew my license and figured Id get a Real ID which requires an in-person visit. I steeled myself for a long wait and a frustrating experience, and it was just the opposite. They really have their act together here. Arrived right when they opened at 8am on a Thursday. The line was really long but once they opened the doors it moved relatively fast. They had at least 3 employees working the line outside the building, asking reason for visit and making sure everyone had the needed paperwork, etc. Another employee outside was taking temperatures. When you reach the door an employee checked me in, gave me a number, and sent me inside where there were distanced chairs to sit in. Waited about 15 min until my number was called to a window. Process for document review and payment was quick, only waited behind one person for photo, then one last station for temporary license (no line). From time I got in 1st line to time in my car was 1 hour - great considering the number of people they processed and that I had to have 5 documents verified, pay, take an eye test, get a photo, and get the temp license. Kudos to all the Daly City DMV employees - they were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable - none of which has been a usual expectation at the DMV. One tip - if getting Real ID go to website in advance to upload your required documents and get pre-registered , then bring originals with you to speed up the process.
I went months ago to get a CA license. Was told based on the system I needed to deal with tickets in another state and then wrote the number for me to contact and said when I handle it, come back and well complete. Did just that and came back with tix paid and they then say I need proof of my license in another state or take the written and driving test over...wth? Its the DMV, yall are all connected is what I was told so why cant they prove the same info that was passed to me months prior. Even the manager acted like they had no way to prove I had a previous license. Says me paying tickets in my name doesnt prove that I had a license..huh?? Either way...if it helps, print out a driving record from the previous state($10 in NY) if u no longer have that drivers license. Finally done! I will say they were quick, space was clean, staff was helpful and facility socially distanced. So were still all good!
My picture of the line 1 hour before DMV open. As always with government places there is no exception to bad service here. One employee walked out to help the people in the front and I had my wife with me to hold our spot. I walked up to the employee to ask them a question, that employee told me that they will go back there and talk with us soon. He did not come back instead he helped the people coming into the building when it finally opened. I wanted to ask a simple question and it turned out the answer was I had to hold off and come back another time I talked to that same guy and told him that thats why I wanted ask a very simple question to see if I had to stand in line for an hour and a half to talk to him in the first part of the line.Long lines, disorganized, nightmare, poor service, DMV...
With no online reservations available, I was quite surprised by how efficient the Real ID / Drivers License renewal process was at the Daly City DMV. Complete any forms online ahead of time (it takes 2 days for documents to be verified & be sure to wait for email confirmation). Showed up at 2pm on a Weds (paperwork in hand), was able to flash the email and skip the line. Entire in-person process took less than one hour: staff was very friendly and all proper covid checks / protections were in place.
Staff was great. No appointments available, took 4+ hours despite having completed application online. The only things (besides waiting & paying fee) I did at DMV Office were eye exam & photo. I hold upper management responsible: extend hours & days; allow online submission of eye exam & current photo; let partners (e.g., AAA) issue licenses, as they do registrations.
Notice: if you have an appointment you still can spend about an hour in the line, especially in morning. If you dont have an appointment you will stay in loooong line outside. Be ready to waste here whole day.Hate such stupid system when you have to wait 4 hours in a queue, and it takes an officer less than one minute to find that you can’t renew your DL because of the ticket.
I know DMV is known for its slow service, but I can tell people here are working really hard to meet the citizens demand. Constant flow of ppl is already demanding, but they handle the work and ppl really well despite the covid pandemic. Cheers to everyone, you are amazing!
Get there early in the morning and the line is already wrapped around the entrance. Luckily, a personnel will come around and give a slip to speed the process quickly and another personnel will assign a number, then sit or wait in car, a link that will be provided shows up phone, then beeline to the window. Well done DMV!👍
You know, gotta hand it to them: was fully prepared to have a miserable experience, but was in and out in 45 minutes on a Thursday afternoon (not an early bird), even with all the Covid precautions. In fact, I think mornings might be even worse. This was a license renewal to Real ID. Be prepared, upload your docs to the online checkin first.
DMV it self is very fast at this time but their services our very poor. Really rude people who don’t respect their guests. I even hear screaming for asking questions. One of the Chinese men who is giving the paper out to people that are in line. Also one lady said no additional guest allowed to go in with the person . But my brother in law can’t speak English and I’m trying to translate for him. They ask me not to go in there with him. But I saw them allowing a lot of people to go in with their partners. Very poor customer service experience. I love dmv for all the things we could get done but their employees are very bad
The DMV is doing the best they can considering the circumstances. Honestly they really just need more DMVs in the area. But here are some tips:1. GET IN LINE AT 6:30 AM. I suggest even bringing a lawn chair. (The line sometimes shortens around noon but not a for sure). The line starts wrapping around the building at 7:15 AM.2. Make sure to have all the appropriate documents and forms. Triple check. You can chat with an agent on their website as well to confirm. But DO NOT come unprepared.3. If you are getting an ID make sure to bring documentation to confirm address that has an account number. A signed lease works great too. They WILL not take any insurance document without an account number on it.4. Do not take anger out on the employees. They are treated poorly everyday. Advocate for change through the appropriate channels.5. If you have an appointment, you can line up at the front in the middle next to tree. Note: THEY ARE NOT scheduling anymore appointments at this time. This is for appointments that were scheduled before COVID.
Excellent customer service. Very kind and professional employees. I filled my application online. I wanted to get the real ID. Gave the number of filled application. Was given the number to wait in line. And in 15 minutes I was out once I was called on. Great work. Thank you.
The system was very efficient. I think it is much better than pre covid. No appointment needed. They check your documents and temperature while waiting in line. Every thing is via text message after that, so you wait outside and when your number is up you go in. Very smooth and socially distant experience.
Not too busy, even during a pandemic. I was in and out in 45 minutes. start to finish. If you live in San Francisco and you have to go to the DMV for any reason, I suggest you go to the Daly City DMV. Remember, for 800,000 people in San Francisco there was only one DMV. Go to Daly City.
Putting 4 stars because of a long line. I waited 5 hours. I suggest people to get there before 8am or after 9 am because at 8 am when they open it will be very busy as everyone tries to get there at 8am and they are still closed before that. The line will increase. Service is well organized
The website says they open at 9am, we showed up at 820am. They were open and had about 60 to 70 people ahead of us. We needed Real id, so we had uploaded the required documents before we went there. They verified our documents while we were waiting in the queue. We were done by 945am. Very quick and efficient service. Me like!
Poor Covid Safety. Although they’ve improved procedures with respect to minimizing crowds outside and distancing markers, many of the lines are closer than 6ft to each other, people walk around confused and crowd all the time, and they do not disinfect the thumbprint canner or signature pad at the camera station. If you can, try a different location.
WORST DMV EVER! I took my drivers test here and the evaluators are beyond rude. The evaluator told me to turn in an intersection when there were PEDESTRIANS CROSSING THE STREET. YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO GO WHEN SAFE BUT I DIDNT FEEL IT WAS SAFE SINCE THERE WAS A PEDESTRIAN! Dont waste your time at this dmv and take your test else where. Worst experience ever...
Ok it was the DMV...i felt like I was at Sunday night bingo...it was chaotic...people walking around like chickens with their head cut off, woman who waited on us needs to go on vacation, but the woman outside who helped us, was fabulous, there are so many things wrong with the DMV, so many
Went there for Real ID. Completed everything online prior to going. Everything done with in 30 mins. Best to go later in the day since the common belief of getting there early didnt work here because most people want to get their stuff done so they can go back to work.
Went to daly city dmv to check on my disabled placard since it expired 30th.june They still show my old address which I made changes 3 times in person ,2 years ago was mo problem they mailed mine out automatically, I made the change of address with the post office 2 years.ago. hopefully, this wont happen again.
This is how it is during the pandemic.. Better get there earlier than opening and carve out the first half of your day. Didnt have an appointment, I got there at 8:15, and I waited in line outside for 4 hours. I then got a number to wait inside and waited for another half hour. 4.5 hours, people. I recommend not drinking any liquids, and eating a good meal before you go without an appointment. They wont let you inside to use the bathroom if youre waiting outside.I definitely would have made an appointment, but the DMV isnt scheduling any new appointments right now because theyre trying to get the backlogged ones out of the way for when they were closed during our ongoing Shelter-In-Place order. I needed to get plates because I just moved from out of state, so I didnt have much choice to go to the DMV in person to make the 10-day deadline to register my car.Dont go unless you are a unflinchingly patient person, who can deal with DMV employees just telling you no to non yes or no questions while you wait in line outside. This was absolutely my definition of purgatory. There were a couple more (I think there was shift change) who were a little more forthcoming. The second star is because once I got inside, the service was somewhat swift, and employees were kinder. Yayyy.PS. I know you DMV folks are working hard, but DAMN.
This DMV in San Francisco is very disorganized. They will make you que for a long time and the staff are clueless they dont know what to advice about your license transfer. Only few staff are helpful. A lot are rude (mostly Filipinos i talk to ) and act as if they are all superior. Yes this dmv needs new management. incompetent staff!!!
Was nervous to go to the DMV without an appointment, but to my surprise we got there at 7:45 and were walking out by 9:45. I submitted all documents for a real ID, took the photo and had my license renewal in hand with no problems. Staff was friendly and helpful. Craig helped me and was pleasant and efficient. Will return to Daly City!
I am currently been waiting in line since 0630am. Some dmv employee came out and starting pulling people from the end of the line and created a second line. There have been people here since 0500 with disabilities and some with 3 kids in their group getting permits but using their mothers disability to get in front of the line. This dmv is so disorganized it should be revamped with new employees. I was about 20 back which now doubled.
The majority of the people that work at this DMV are very professional And have a tremendous amount of patience They are very helpful I dont know how they can deal with the public every day Ive seen some pretty nasty people in there and again theyve always stayed professional With the tremendous amount of work they do on a daily basis
The Daly City dmv is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.Every person I encountered (6 people) was helpful, polite, and for the most part friendly. If you don’t give attitude and be thankful for their help - the process goes by so much faster. I made an appointment over the phone. If you have an appointment you won’t wait as long (duh). My appointment was at 3 pm and I got called up at 3:45 but that’s just the way it goes I guess 🤷🏻♀️ Wednesday afternoons are busy but not too crowded.Just be nice to the employees - it’s not that hard 🙂
I was actually dreading to go to DMV without an appointment and prepared to stay for more than 2 hours to just get my Real ID done but it was all done within an hour! Just make sure you have ALL the required documents needed, $30 (no credit card!), and fill the application online before hand (you can also fill it out there too). SOME staff are rude AF but the people who helped me out were amazing (sorry I didn’t get their names) and definitely got my day started RIGHT!
Great, all I needed was to drop off a release form, the security woman, had me take a photo and she dropped it in for me,and for the most part ive found DMV personnel to be helpful, its the development that ticks me off, the people working the desk catch all the grief, 5 thumbs up
I’ve had an Appointment July 25th , 11.00 AM for renewal my driver license.I was there at 10.30. A big crowd. I asked where I have to stand if I have an appointment. I went to the place and there were just 3 people in front of me. A very nice staff asked me for the necessary documents. Here’s a little note. Unfortunately, I was not informed that I have to complete an Application Form. After about 30 minutes of waiting my Number was called. The lady at the counter was also very friendly and helpful. After taking pictures, I came to the computer for a test after about 10 minutes. So I was ready after about 1 hour. And yesterday, my new drivers license was already in the Mail. I was pleasantly surprised.
Staff were helpful and efficient. I got there 45 minutes before they opened and was in & out just over an hour later. Which is way better than what Ive been hearing about other DMVs lately. If youre getting a Real ID, do your application online ahead of time and make sure you have all of your documents. It goes surprisingly quick.
This location is very busy, struggle to find a parking spot near by. I am standing in line since 8:45 am. Now is close to 2pm and there are still 10 people ahead of me. They take in average 10 people per hour. Their number calling sistem is not working. Go to a different Dmv next time.
Avoid this location if possible. I arrived thirty minutes before doors opened and it is now 1pm and I still havent been helped. Youll spend the first 2 hours standing outside in the cold to be assigned a number. Once inside youll wait some more. This office is the slowest Ive ever encountered in California. Also, they dont take credit cards. Only debit, cash, and checks.
They are taking every precautions out there during this Covid crisis. Make sure you have completed express application online for real id and new Driver license. No appointment needed for express applications. They are given priority right now. In and out in 1 hr. Pretty good for no appointment situation.
I was not expecting much after reading various reviews on this office until I went there and had own personal experience. I had to get the new vehicle title, registration, and driver license. The agent, Glen, was courteous, attentive and thorough in dealing with out of state transfer. His professionalism made me forget a long wait time of over 2 hours. He is truly a shining star of a state employee working with Daly City service community, and I am glad he gave me an unshakable trust in the local government.
Staff changes their stories to suit their needs. They tell me I need an appointment or dmv express, which the dmv website is so outdated you’re better off finding that needle in the haystack. I check my confirmation email and realize it qualifies as express. They confirm it is, but turn me away anyways because they’re busy trying to close up and go home 40 minutes before closing. This is not an issue of health or safety, just a clear example of station and staff whose priorities do not include providing quality service, or any service it seems.
Pretty standard as DMV offices go. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. If you make an appointment (recommended), there is NOT a sign on the outside of the building telling you where to go. The long line is for non-appointments, just go in the front door and look for the “appointments” sign inside.
Came in here on a Saturday morning (around 730 AM) without an appointment but because of the efficient staff everything was very organized. I was able to get my vehicle registration and license work done within an hour (If you are getting a DL or State ID, it is advisable to fill out the online application and have a confirmation number ready to share with the staff - this will save you a lot of time).Kudos to the team here!
The California DMV has gotten such a bad press recently that I went here, without an appointment, full of dread. What I actually encountered was so well-organized, courteous, and efficient that Mom and I were out of there with replacement drivers licenses in less than an hour. PS We did get in the queue an hour before opening.
I have been going to this facility for years for any reason that I needed to and no real complaints except for the wait time; but what can one expect from a government facility? Just know the peak hours to go when there is less people(make at least 3 hours of your time to wait to register/served, sometimes less depending on time, reason and # of people). Has restrooms, clean environment, parking available(if not at your time of visit just look around the neighborhood, always parking.) Bring things to pass your time while waiting or not. Make sure to eat before going and bring water. Just be patient, not sure why its an issue for some people.
I had a great experience here. Wait was around an hour (no appointment on a Saturday), and the staff member I worked with was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and helped me clear up any questions or lack of knowledge on my part.To anyone reading this- its a DMV. Not Four Seasons. If you dont come prepared and do a little research on your problem or get a realistic expectation about what the process will be like, youre going to have a bad time. The people writing 1 star reviews on here clearly dont have a realistic view of what is expected of them.
Two things you need to do before coming here: BOOK AN APPOINTMENT and bring all your paperwork! Makes things WAY easier. My recent experience was an appointment for a new ID. Booked the appointment for 12:15pm. Got in 11:45am, got out 12:55. Stood in line for 15ish minutes, checked in, sat for 5 minutes waiting for my number to be called (as I barely finished my form in time), got my documents sorted through, got my picture taken. Straightforward. For those who havent been there before and got an appointment, pass the long line, go through the front doors, and go to the Appointments line. (Dont try and check in when your appointment is more than 30 minutes ahead. I know some others say they dont check, but I saw a guy myself get told to leave when he tried doing this 2 hours ahead.) When I was there, a staffer stood next to the check-in line who double checked that I had the necessary docs and that I was there at the right appt time.Main tips:1) Bring a pen and a hard surface. They run out of clipboards sometimes.2) Bring all of your docs in a folder. It makes the whole process faster when they need your stuff.3) Google every document you need ahead of time. They will turn you away if youre missing something and it wastes your time. Also, heads up that the people here are human. If you follow through with some semblance of respect, they will treat you in kind. They want you out quickly as much as you do, so it helps being nice. This may sound preachy and common sense, but for all of my time at the DMV, its like some of the other customers here didnt have ANY common sense. Some impossibly rude; others simply unprepared. (Also, why do people try and cut the line!? STOP IT. And if you see it happen, call them out on it!) I dont know what goes through their heads, but most of my grievances of being here came from other patrons.
What is the point to make appointment 3 month in advance if they still send you to stay in line with all people with or without appointment at least 50 people in front of you. Either way same time, and your time will be wasted. Did I wait 3 months for appointment just to make it easier for DMV? Obviously appointment system is not used properly and makes false impression of organized line.
Arrived at 6:45 on Saturday without appointment. The line had about 50 people in front of me. Things started moving rapidly at 8 (a few people didnt have the necessary documents and were sent home) and I was done by 9:15. Its worth coming in early but number were being called really fast!Staff was nice and polite. Everyone was extremely helpful. The experience here was much better than other DMVs such as Santa Clara or Oakland Claremont.
Went there on a Saturday to use the kiosk and they wouldn’t let us in as they’re only accepting drivers test. I opted to use kiosk at this location because they allow cash payment - the kiosk on other location only accepts credit card which DMV charges a fee for using.
Not bad. Its a very busy DMV, but the line for appointments only takes 15-20 minutes the two times Ive been. Appointments are definitely given priority and theyll do what they can if you run out of time (which it might do for 3pm+ appointments). The employees are straightforward and (dare I say) nice for the most part.Dont come here and expect anything to take less than 1.5 hours though...even with an appointment.
This is the worse DMV that I have ever visited, because of the workers. I understand that is stressing but there is no reason for being mean with everyone, some of them speak Spanish and they treat you like they are superior for speaking two languages. I speak Spanish too and that does not mean that I am superior to anyone. I don’t recommend this DMV.No recomiendo este DMV.
They deserve zero stars. I had a license renewal appt. It took 1 1/2 hours and they didn’t even renew my license. The customer service woman I got (over-weight, dark short hair) didn’t know what she was doing and couldn’t find my information in their system. They sent me the renewal notice and she didn’t know if I needed a vision test and/or written exam. I told her it was vision only, but she didn’t believe me. She showed me what the letters looked like and asked which one I recognized... unbelievable, but then she didn’t believe me anyway. She told me to go home and bring back the notice. The notice did not say to bring it in, it also said to apply online. I made my appt online and filled in the info, how could they possibly not know why I was there?! Their online system wouldn’t let me do the application online and said to go in person. When I got there today they asked if I applied online, haha. Because I hadn’t/ couldn’t in fact, I had to wait in a long line to use their computers. The general incompetence of the dmv and the staff at this location is appalling. 2 of the 3 staff members I interacted with were also very rude and snappy without cause. The DMV needs a major overhaul and to come into at least the 20th century, let alone the 21st.
Horrible service the lady at the entrance didnt even understand my initial question went inside to ask and when she came back with an answer that didnt make any sense to my question got annoyed saying I didnt explained what I wanted to know went back in got distracted with other person coming out and didnt ask what I needed but came back to me saying I just had to pay not really answering my question and when I said I wanted to go inside and ask she got even more rude and said she provided answer to questions at the door and dont let me go inside
Idiots, sat and waited in line since 7 A.M until it opened at 8 but once they found out I had an appointment a little later in the day they told me they would not see me until then. I am pretty sure their entire existence is based around making peoples lives more difficult. If their was any way I could avoid this worthless establishment of brain-dead baboons I would.
I didnt make an appointment as none available for a month, so my 4mins at counter cost 2.5hr queueing outside and just over 1.5hr inside. The staff inside working there were fine and mostly efficient, but snowed under by our population numbers and even more so by unprepared customers. If we all checked what docs we needed first online and proof read our forms Im pretty sure the queue wouldve been halved! Its too long to wait for an appt or when there, but its not filthy or rude.
One of the most worsh dmv in the USA, staffs are so careless that I switch my other state license to CA, and got everything done. but I got pulled over got ticket guess what was the reason,,,? license was invalid and they forget to put issue date on the system...and next day I went and it took me more then 3hours to fix that issue ...
I’m convinced this place is actually a department of Hell. I was here yesterday at 7:20 am (there were no appointments until October!) thinking 40 mins before opening was plenty early. Ohhhh no. There were 50+ people there before me. I then waited and waited for more than 5 hours. When I left there were still 20 people ahead of me in my que and they were calling them at the rate of 1 person per 30 minutes so I knew I wouldn’t be helped that day. So I left at 12:30pm. I came back this morning at 6:15. Yes, there were already 10 people ahead of me. I then learned they don’t open until 9 on Wednesday’s (WHY?) and my heart literally shattered. We waited until 9 in the cold and as soon as the door opens the usual fast paced guy comes out and starts yelling for everyone to get their documents out. The other man harassed the first people (in the appointment line) aggressively. He kept asking one person “WHY ARE YOU HERE, YOU LITERALLY DON’T HAVE TO BE HERE WHY ARE YOU HERE” for a good few minutes. We called at him to stop harassing her, and he grumbled something. He continued harassing other people and storming around. I’ve never seen someone be so rude so immediately. I also saw him keep repeating something over and over to someone who clearly didn’t speak English. Like repeating would make her understand? They need translators! The process after that was (relatively) quick but every single person I encountered was cold and unprofessional. My picture was awful because the lady didn’t tell me where to look so I asked but she kept counting down so I had a weird look on my face. No redos. I got out of there at 10 am. Total wait time: 8 hours. I feel like I crawled out of the depths of Hell and I look forward to NEVER going there again.
Horrible, dont mind the wait because I should of made an appointment but the people that work there need an attitude adjustment, they seem to hate to work there, I know customers get upset and gets them upset but you should be professions about it and deal with it, just like we have to deal with the DMV
Had an appointment and luckily showed up 30 minutes early.Line for appointments is longest line, took 30 minutes to get to the check in.Others in line who made appointment are reading these online reviews while we wait.Consensus is that 2.2 out of 5 too high a rating.!!
I had an appointment for 8:40a on Monday and there was just barely enough parking and a line about 15yards long, out the door. Fortunately I found parking with 30sec and skipped the long line for a short 5min wait since I had an appointment. The desk person was courteous and professional. I quickly got a waiting number and waited for 10mins. Once I got to an agent, she quickly and kindly helped with all my needs. I was in and out in less than 30mins. And while there were a lot of people waiting, and some with very little patience, all the dmv workers that I saw took it in strides and even smiled occasionally. I was worried by the other reviews but had a good personal experience at this dmv office, though it was busy.
This place is the absolute worst. Youd think that with an office this busy, they would delegate their workforce with an emphasis on efficiency... WRONG! The line moves at a snails pace with 1 person manning the front desk. Wait an hour or two in line just to get a number then wait another hour or two to be called upon. This office is an absolute joke! This organization needs to be privatized already!!!
I showed up at 2pm, knowing they cut off the test for a drivers license at 4:30pm. The website said there was a 20 min wait. 2 hours later I get to the counter was very rude and was sent away because the wait for the text is now 45 min, and they cut off giving it in 30. This is the second attempt to try to go to the DMV. the first time I showed up at 9am, but couldnt get through the initial line for over an hour and had to get to work. Theres never a single person in the appointment line but theyre supposedly booked for over a month, so this is not an option for me or many people Im guessing.
I brought all of my required documents and I schedule an appointment as well. I scheduled this appointment a month ago and they said my documents were still not valid even though the website said these documents were valid. They wouldnt even allow my father to go and retrieve a simple item so I could take my written test. They dont allow walk-ins either for written test... The next available appointment was in two months. I needed to take my written test and get my ID before since I was leaving for college. They handled everything poorly when I was being polite and respectful to the staff.
After almost 3 months from my last visit I still have not got my new driver license, my temporary one expires in 1 week so I went back again asking for another temporary license print. Was told no way to skip the line and no slot for appointment within one week. Why not give a longer temporary driver license at the first place? Why DMV makes everything so hard?!
Was here last week, waited in line for 6 hours for them to tell me that I dont have the necessary documents to transfer vehicle titles and apply for registration. It mightve helped if they went into more specific details on their official website. Here today, got here early at 6 o clock am. I ended up waiting even longer! A good 8 hours. Apparently they only ever have 2 -3 people working the booths where theres 25 of them!Employees are always seen laughing and using their phones and/or chatting amongst themselves instead of doing their jobs.Horrible location, please dont go here. If you do be prepared to wait for the sun to rise and fall.

2022-01-21I am fully satisfied with the service of this DMV. I arrived 5 minutes before opening, stayed in line for about 20 minutes to get inside the building and then waited until they called my number for about 35 minutes. Within 8 minutes i was on my way out. In total, it took me 1 hour and 8 minutes to receive a service in this DMV on Friday morning. After i left the building, there was not any lines outside the building anymore. The left line was for anyone without an appointment, the right line was for anyone with an appointment.

2022-02-10I applied for the real ID online so had to go in to get my documents verified and my photo taken. With an appointment this took 45 mins, not too bad. The staff was helpful and their systems (online and at the location) have improved a lot. Overall it was a good experience for the DMV, though of course it could have been done in 15 mins if they were really efficient. Also didnt see any crazy people shouting or getting angry (unlike at the SF DMV), which is always great.

2022-02-23The wait times seem shorter. I was in and out in 35 minutes. The DMV employee was efficient and friendly. The two lines outside one for appointments and the other for non appointments seem to flow smoothly. It always seems really cold at this location so bring a coat.

2022-05-11Today, was the worst experience ever! Window 20 & 15 around noon, two guys with the worst people skills and customer service EVER!!! I usually visit this location and even when the representative couldnt fix my problem, they are always pleasant and prompt to help. Today, both of them were rude, they didnt let me explain what I needed, they just grab the paper from my hands and start screaming about what they thought I was there for. They showed how little they care about their customers and also the lack of interest about their job.

2022-06-25Cmon.....its DMV. With that said, Daly City is one of the better locations. They do a good job of getting you in and out relatively quickly. Usually, no long lines here. Staff is polite.

2022-06-19I was at this Dmv location yesterday and they had a system failure and as a result there were huge lineups and a little bit chaos. I was pretty impressed how all the Dmv employees worked together and kept the show running. This was my first time at Dmv and everyone was super sweet and friendly! So they get 5 stars

2022-07-07I went to this branch , their tv monitor not working ,only their speaker. My number called, i did not nituced because i answered a call from my phone. after 5 minutes i noticed my message saying my # is being serve at this window, so i went in that window 2 people in line before me. i waited on that line when its my turn, the lady asked what can she do, i said application for lost id, I showed the message on my phone. She sai this is for Drive test only i cannot help you. I said but they texted me to come ti this window She told me to go back to the lady in the front door and get another #. i told the lady and i showed the text, when she questioned her that my # got missed, the lady in that window said That was called earlier, she missed it. So it does not make sense... that was not the reason she denied service on me,,,she adamantly insisted her line is only for Drive test. Poor customer service. workers should learn to accomodate people needing service. Even how busy they are. They need to learn to show respect and practice good manners. Bec if they dont know how to deal with people.. they should change job.

2022-06-03Worst experience ever like any DMV. My 5 year old nephew could manage this place better than anyone who works there. You guys should get real jobs in all seriousness.

2022-06-04I had a behind the wheel test and the person was so rude and made me feel nervous. He talked to me in a very rude manner although I was so polite. I didn’t like the way I was treated. He seemed frustrated and irritated.

2022-06-05A little confusing to navigate but not terrible Make apt., two lines at door one for apt one without. Then grab a number inside, wait. Go to one of 20 or so counters when called. Then maybe another line for photo and temp license. With apt, ealy morning, maybe 30 mins all told Bring a book.
