Wow! I am so glad I found this place! Crema coffee is wonderful!! The coffee is DELICIOUS! The atmosphere is wonderful. Friendly service!! AND they go above and beyond! They make all of their sandwiches here and I don’t eat meat- so they suggested some incredible things. My sandwich was absolutely delicious!! Yay! Thank you so much for everything!! I can’t wait to come back!!
My girlfriend and I came in to grab some coffee and food before heading out to work. Saw a lot of great reviews so thought we’d give it a try. Coffee was not good - it just tasted burnt. Whatever - no big deal. However, we also ordered a breakfast burrito, and that’s why I’m writing this review. It was taking awhile for them to make it, so I went up to check for an update. Well…it took a long time because the manager was too busy talking to a friend of hers that was in town. When I came up to her to ask her nicely if our burrito was ready, she gave me a dirty look as if I was an annoyance. My bad - so sorry that your little friend was in town and that you didn’t take the day off to hang with her. Anyways, she made the burrito - and burnt it by the way, and just threw it on the tray with that same dirty look. I didn’t even bother saying anything…wasn’t worth it since she obviously cares more about talking to her friend than running a business. Definitely won’t be coming back.Shoutout and props to the poor kid working the register AND making the coffee while the manager was hanging with her friend instead of working. Hey manager, next time take the day off next time so you don’t have to ruin other peoples day!
One of the best coffee shops in town with abundant seating. They had a good collection of coffee in a good price range. They do have the coffee grinding machine in store. The employees are very friendly and very quick service. They do have a cute seating space available outdoors. They even have a good collection of bakery items. The only drawback is parking, only street parking.
First up dont call yourself roasting company if you just serve run of the mill lattes, Expresso and morning brewed coffee. The cafe food is also underwhelming, server served a croissant after microwaving it to a bumbling hot goo filed with chocolate, so bad! Ambience is decent I guess and quiet.
Ive liked Crema in its other locations, but I was extremely disappointed at this spot shared with Pier 402 -- super slow service, and then my pastry had two spots of mold on top. 🤮 I brought it back up and didnt even get an apology, just told to pick something else or get a refund.I really want to like them and for this spot to do well because Race St could use some good stuff on it, but theyll need to make some changes before Im happy eating there again.
If you are looking for a coffee shop and cakes, this is the place to be! It offers free wifi and also has a smoking facility inside the venue (if youre a smoker). The staff/waiters are always very helpful and bubbly. The coffee was on point, and the food was excellent. It is well priced and a nice atmosphere.
Just went there - there was nobody at the counter, looked like it was understaffed. I went in front of the kitchen to catch someone’s eye and then a guy wearing a cap told me to wait at the counter. So waited for 5 min again and another person queued behind me, also seeming restless and asking me if they are even serving. So I walked in the direction of the kitchen again. The same guy in cap spoke very rudely this time and started explaining the concept of a counter to me. He was probably having a bad day. But if you’re looking for a quick pit stop to get coffee, go to a Starbucks. That’s what I ended up doing.
Had a really bad experience with every dish I ordered. Coffee had too much milk despite ordering one with an extra shot, and was piping hot, more than normal. The chocolate croissant was the worst Ive had - it wasnt well done and could taste the dough inside - giving me the impression that it wasnt bakery made but a few days stale even.
This cafe’s asthenic is very nice and the worker herself was very polite when I first came in (even though she took some time to notice me cuz she was on her phone) but I think the cafe’s policies need an upgrade. I’ve been a barista trainer for years so I pay attention to these things. When I walked in there was an espresso shot sitting on the machine’s tray and she poured it into my cup for my latte. When I spoke up and said sorry can you pull a new shot please? Because that one is quite old (you’re supposed to use espresso shots within 30 seconds of being pulled) she did start to pull a new shot but then just poured it into my cup with the old one and pour the milk in before I could stop her... Pretty disappointed 😞
The waiters and waitresses were all very attractive, friendly and professional. The way they deal with clients like me, I have honestly amused myself. There was a really good view of the place overlooking the whole city. It was refreshing, amazing, and lovely. Oh thank you!
Visited for the first time on Saturday. Loved my espresso (delicious coffee) and enjoyed the atmosphere. Very cozy feeling with lots of seating inside and out. Biggest reason I don’t plan to return is because the barista was so rude. There are other places a block away with much better customer service and great coffee, so it’s an easy choice for me.
This place works if you are around. Wouldnt go out of my way to go here though. Its a step above Starbucks.Pros: good variety of pastries, breakfast/lunch items, and drinks. A nice place to have something sugary. Prices are good.Cons: coffee cake was clearly a little stale and dry despite showing up early in the morning. Latte wasnt made very well (a large amount of foam) and tasted off balance, made too hot. I added an extra shot and it still tasted like it was a single shot.Overall not a big fan. If you want a good well prepared latte you are better off heading downtown to B2 and some of the other shops in that area. But this place works and their sugary drinks look really good.
I think my expectations were too high based on the reviews. This place is solidly mediocre for coffee. Their latte was bland and I bought a lb of coffee, which has become my only drink in case of emergency stash. They do have a lot of seating and a nice vibe, so it would be a good place to hang out or enjoy a lazy morning.
Great coffee and treats! With a small cluster of couches, comfy high-backed chairs, and plenty of cozy study tables, this non-corporate neighborhood cafe is a dying breed. The interiors dark wood and rich colors are warm and inviting, and the large outdoor seating area makes for a great spot to people watch. Perhaps a little more pricy than the corporate chains, but well worth it.
Ive been coming here for a long time and it pleases me to know they were and still very proactive on making sure I got my order ASAP. They went as far as to take my order and checked the front patio incase Ive forgotten to check on my order. They finished my to go order fairly quickly and I shouldve notified the barista Id step aside to use the restroom (sorry guys). But just wanted to highlight their great friendly and attentive customer service. Keep it up guys!
Great quiet location to get work done. A number of tables spread out. No blaring music. Coffee was good. A number of sweets and sandwiches. Service was slow today but I believe one of the batista was on break. Will try another time. 3 hour free parking lot a block away. Price for speciality coffee - moderate. Open til 8pm which is a plus since a number of the local coffee shops close between 2pm and 4pm
Both the food and drinks at Crema are awesome. I especially love the sandwiches, the California is Classic being my personal favorite. The WiFi works almost all the time, but its not perfect. They also have a wonderful selection of drinks including some very good iced teas with fruit in them. It can get pretty toasty in there on warmer days but for the most part its a great study spot
Friendly service! I have been looking for a coffee shop that is not Starbucks over here in San Jose, and I decided to check out Crema! I had the bacon swiss quiche, it was flavorful and the coffee was tasty. I will be studying here a lot in the fall when school starts again. Parking was very easy, there is a public parking lot one building down, free for 3 hours. I sat outside on their adorable patio sprinkled with trees and flowers and enjoyed my food and a good book. Go check it out!
Got the iced caramel macchiato and was disappointed I couldn’t get a small size since it was iced so I had to get a medium. My drink came with lots of coffee on top of the lid so I had to soak it up with napkins before I was able to drink it. The barista was not friendly and seemed like he hated his job. On the bright side, the ambiance is wonderful for studying or just hanging out and the my drink was pretty good.
Moderately expensive drinks with a limited menu and baked goods, Crema offers a quaint and comfortable atmosphere to study or meet with colleagues and enjoy some hot or cold drinks. Theres plenty of seating indoors and out but only a handful of electrical outlets to plug in, so its best to arrive before or after lunch & the evening rush to get a good spot. Bonus points for close 3 hour parking near by. Id recommend the Iced Mocha or or the Almond Royal for something sweeter.
The iced coffees we got were good, but the hot food I ordered was still cold in the middle. The real standout reason was the mood of the staff, though. No one seemed very happy to be there, and it was reflected in the quality of the food. Sadly, we dont plan to go back.
Crema has two locations on the Alameda within a few blocks of one another. Both have great coffee, decent food, and really wonderful ambience. The owner, June, is someone who was born to take excellent care of customers. Good outdoor and indoor seating at both locations.
I am going to say I was just talking about this Cafe that has been a mainstay for me ever since I lived right around the corner. Their outdoor patio is perfect in the summer and when Im in school it is quiet enough inside with lots of apple laptops propped open full of students, many times I see people working on projects together at the tables in the middle. They have dangerously wonderful deserts, and they make all the coffee drinks that others do. They carry a good selection of tea. They may not have expected to be the place to study at cause they could use more outlets. But all in all Its a happy coffee shop, with hip baristas and good energy.
I live down the street from this coffee shop and I got to say this place is absolutely amazing! They have an amazing staff theyre always busy they serve great coffee plus food to snack on.The only downside to this location that has for people who dont live in the area is that parking it is very difficult to catch a spot. But noticing the people who come here are locals around the area.
Pretty good to try to wait on customers as soon as possible, the make your drink fast. They have a place where you can sit down inside . They have great looking icecreams, lots of different colors, I didn,t get to taste them myself yet, but they sure are proud of that special area. Real nice bakery section too. It is delicate pastry.
Ive been to this Cafe a few times and depending on when you go it can be very empty or extremely extremely crowded. There is a lot of seating but quite a few times Ive been here every last seat is taken. This cafe serves a variety of pastries, gelato, and various drinks. I enjoy some of their fruit teas and their mango smoothie. The pastries are average and their gelato is nothing special but that doesnt mean its not good. Service is usually pretty nice.
While I was homeless they let me sit in the lobby for awhile in the winter and never asked me to buy anything or for me to leave. A kind lady had paid a waitress and told her to let me choose any food item I wanted (because I had refused the cash the lady had tried to give me) and the waitress was nice enough not to just keep the cash, but when I had gone outside to sit at a table she came out and told me the truth and let me pick something to have for breakfast. :) Nothing but good experiences there. They also gave me water for free and were very polite about it when I was obviously homeless.
This is a lovely place to meet with friends or customers, have great coffee and something light to munch on. OR hide from the world on your own, get some work done, or sit and read in the library nook. Free WiFi, lots of plugs to charge your devices, perfect atmosphere, and I love the patio seating!
I suppose its not helpful to say I was a huge fan of the old Crema. The bubbly live atmosphere of the old house has given way to a small cantina style kiosk in a quiet corner. We stood for a while alone in the high ceilinged boat themed hall till someone came to take our order. He was not happy to be there and didnt talk much. After ordering, we waited for our number to be called or someone to bring us the cake and coffee outside. After 10min we went back in and saw it on the counter with no one around. So as I sip my luke warm iced mocha (though still tasty) and a rather stale cake, I do have to wonder if this is the future? Maybe one day music could liven things up.The barista still did a decent job, thus the 3 stars.
My experience here was pleasant, the workers were helpful when I didnt know what to order. I originally wanted the Eggplant panini but the apparently stop serving those at a certain time. Nonetheless I ordered the veggie sandwich and it was decent. the ambiance is calm, perfect for studying. Will likely be coming back again!
This is an ok, though crowded place to get a coffee and bite to eat on a weekend. Nice outdoor seating, or ample places inside if you want to park and study for a while. Good looking gelato, and the blended ice coffee drinks are on point. I also got a blueberry crumb cake which was a bit of a miss - barely any blueberries :( but for coffee with a friend, not bad. Reason it gets a lower score is I find the staff rude and dismissive, like I am a bother to deal with, despite being the cutomer. Seem more interested in slapping and joking with each other than helping a paying customer. Also the WiFi doesnt work. The longer I stayed, the less I liked this place.
Great spot for coffee and much more: perfect coffee: Im a latte addicted, meaning I expect good creamy milk and good coffee taste in it. And Crema has it! Next to that they have nice pastries and healthy food (nice sandwiches, Quiche) and you can work, chill perfectly in this place. The best in this area! Enjoy 😊
Nice, local coffee shop. Good atmosphere. Limited menu. Received cold coffee on a cold day. Hmmm, not what I was expecting. But, service is always good. Friendly staff. Well, another disappointing experience at this location. Ever since the new location opened, this one continues to go down hill. Too bad, this used to be my favorite place. Now, average is a compliment. :-(
I really enjoy going to grab a blended ice coffee in the morning and sitting outside. The days are warm and the sitting outside under the shade of tree and reading is very enjoyable. And whenever i need to charge my laptop i can do so inside or out. A convenient parking lot is located near by.
I had a specialty tea here and it was good. I had a ton of questions for the guy at the counter so he was really patient in answering all my questions as to how the teas are prepared. I asked for a light and not so sweet tea so he prepared it to my liking. I would come back if I were in the area. Seems like a good place to work on the laptop.
Super love this place! Great coffee, free wi-fi, cute space, big and small open tables, and they have Vietnamese coffee and yummy cakes and pastries!I tend to go cafehopping, but Crema is definitely one of those places that Id stay in all day and night. I just wish they were open past 9 pm...then this place would be a perfect study/get your life together place.
The brewed coffee there could be stronger and thicker of a brew. Im hard core on varietal coffees and not much into frapps and other Starbuck-rized types of drinks. I tried a smoothie once but it was way too watery and bland. The service can sometimes be inconsistent depending on who is working but is generally good. It is a family owned place and the owners really care about what they are doing.Desserts there are good if they havent stayed in the case too long. Ive not tried their other foods and they recently got gelato in which Ive yet to try yet.I am there often as it is almost across the street from me though I would be there more often if they carried more tea options and pumped up their coffee brew.
Terrible service. Ordered two drinks. Both to go. One came in a glass the other to go. Both made wrong. Advised them of the mistake and the lady behind the counter was very sassy about remaking a drink. When she re made it she re made it wrong and spoke with a very sassy tone. She didnt bother to pack the other drink to go either. When we told her again what our order was she says in a very sassy tone well what DID you want?. We were so frustrated we walked out without even going through the hassle of asking for a refund. Enjoy the $6 that you didnt earn!.

2022-05-04Love the honey lavender coffee here. The woman who owns this place is so friendly. If you’re looking for a quiet place to work this is it. Lots of seating. In an open space. Also and upstairs. Their other location is much busier. Tasty looking pastries and desserts…I managed to not buy any this time. It’s in the same space as Pier 402.

2022-01-10I really like the rustic feel of this coffee shop! The young hostess was so sweet and accommodating with all my questions. Service for me is 90% of a business and the coffee I got it went great with some of the tea cookies I picked up from down the street at Yeganeh. The patio was nice to read my book although the construction across the street was annoying. But that’s not their fault ;)

2022-04-20Crema lives up to the name. I got the red velvet latte with sugar-free vanilla, and oh my goodness...its so good! I cant imagine what it tastes like with actual sugar. The service was friendly and fast. I want to come back and try more of the items on the menu. Parking is located on the side of the building.

2021-10-24First time experience! This Crema Coffee is attached to Pier 402. You must order at front first, then sit and your food will be served (if you’re ordering lunch). I got the oyster po boy! It was very yummy, the bread was crunch and soft (perfect), there were 5 oysters in the sandwich. I also tried their cherry danish and red velvet white mocha latte ..also good but probably much better if I had gotten the danish baked fresh. There’s not much parking but wasn’t a problem finding parking when I arrived! Cute, chill vibes inside! Def somewhere I’d go often to work from if it were closer to me.

2022-06-23Wow, not sure what happened here since they have great reviews. Was expecting something like Blue Bottle or The Verve.Short walk after breakfast at The Breakfast Club nearby.Place was pretty empty, and it took awhile for one employee to appear. The cappucino took less than 10 seconds from order, very fast. Was concerned that the plastic gallon jug of whole milk was less than half full, and looking puffy.Wanted to order cake or pastry but after seeing the few in the display looking old and crusty, decided to pass. Should have passed on the coffee too. It was horribly bitter and sour. I could not continue drinking after forcing a couple of sips. Stomach did get a little bloat, which happens when the whole milk isnt the freshest.First table we sat at was covered in grease. It seems like they share the space with a fish n chips place.

2022-02-27Delightful coffee shop with a great cuppa. The coffee was delicious and the scones were perfect. The interior was also very gorgeous.

2021-10-21Great coffee. Usually not busy in the morning. We go there on Friday morning and can find parking right Infront of the store. Nice ambience. The vegetarian egg sandwich is really tasty 😋

2021-07-26Good coffee, good ambiance and good pastry section. Although we were not able to have pastries due to fasting reasons we enjoyed their double cappuccino. As per the price, it would have been nice to have it in a medium/ big size cup.

2022-01-26On the question to barista: “Do you have power outlets here?” His answer was: “We are not the restaurant so NO”..BTW: your dirty chay is way below average too, especially for that price point ($7)!!!

2022-05-17Despite I had to repeat 3 times that I want a cappuccino, I like this place. My cappuccino is good, about a cup, $4.95. Very quite at 9:30am on a Tuesday. Parking is on the street, thats a bummer because the street can be a little busy to cross. They have some macarons and some other pick me up treats to go with your drinks. Clean area.
