Ive been to many childrens museums in California - from Sam Francisco to San Diego. This one is one of the largest and most interesting. Many, many exhibits for children to explore. The only thing they can improve on is the arts area - although they have some craft mediums, they can add more variety of recycled materials. But overall, this is an excellent museum.
Overall, my kids had a good time. I was a bit disappointed that some of the exhibits were either out of order or not functioning the way they were described...nevertheless, even with the broken things, my kids enjoyed themselves. They particularly enjoyed the pet hospital setup.
Wonderful experience! We had been big fans of the Childrens Museum before the pandemic and made our return today. Everything was very clean and they safely spaced out visits. All of the exhibits have been updated and improved, and the new space exhibit is neat. Weve been taking my seven year-old there since he was 20 months old and he still had a great time. The staff was very friendly and attentive as well. Id give more than five stars if I could.
I havent been here in since I was a little kid and I still have so much fun here! I came here for work and spent 2 hours here. Masks are required and since it was a weekday, no one was there, and I was able to arrive on the same day without reserving a ticket. I work with kids who have been diagnosed with autism, so this was a great place to enter a different environment, experience different settings within the museum, and play and practice real life scenarios with everything that is in this museum.
We love coming here for years now. Weve been disappointed on our most recent trip though as 30% of their display was either missing parts or completely NOT working. My kid couldnt even play with them? I wish theyd try to fix them since we are paying for an entrance fee.
Wow, this place is awesome!!!! They have all interactive exhibits. An ambulance, police car, police motorcycle, a fire engine, play hospital room set up, grocery store and a Food for Less set up, a space area, a news room, a giant walk through eye and fish, a farm set up, a playhouse area, a little veterinary office, huge blocks, a storytime set up, a play structure with slid+e etc. We had so much fun with our little guy here!!!! Highly highly recommend this place!!!! Its affordable too, only $6 a person!!!! Plus, the staff is incredibly helpful, friendly, interactive, and ready to answer any questions!!! We will definitely go back multiple times!!!!!
The museum was great. The location not so much. Its very sketchy when you get out of the freeway. Once you enter the parking lot gates I did feel safer. They did have an employee outside the front door welcoming everyone in. I didnt have any issues once inside and my kids loved it. I would definitely go again and recommend, just note its not in the best part of town, but I didnt have any issues.
The best kids museum Ive been to. Where else can kids sit in, and pretend to drive, an actual fire truck, chopper, city bus, police car and ambulance? My 4 year old asks to come back here more than any other childrens museum in The Bay Area. Worth the drive and educational for parents too!
For all of you parent out there that are looking for something fun and also educational for your children to engage in, please give this place a shot! Now with COVID, you do have to purchase tickets in advance, however, its totally worthwhile. There are so many different activities and areas here that focus on learning and exploring many different professions and creative outlets. There are huge building blocks, an area for service vehicles. Does your child have an interest in being a doctor or vet? A newscaster or perhaps they would like to learn how the human eye works, theyve got you covered! The more popular Food-4-Less area is absolutely cool. They also have a space exhibit that should be coming soon. Now the visit are only 2 hours right now, and this means we run out of time to do everything this place has to offer. Come, bring the kids, its a great place!
Lots of great things to do with young kids. Eight and under is probably a good age range. Lots of things for toddlers, but good imagination play for older kids. The price is fair for all of the activities you can do. There are lots of fun vehicles my two year old loved. The grocery area is great and there is even an arts and craft area with one craft for older kids and a simple one for younger. Easily an hour and a half to two hours of play. There was a few odds and ends that need to be fixed like a magnet wand missing a magnet in one of the displays or a lever not sticking right in the bank. Nothing bad, just normal wear and tear from lots of kids playing. Only kids who really pay attention would notice.Only real recommendation for improvement is the music. It is very fun, but a short playlist where it felt like you heard the same song four times over two hours. If the playtime is two hours, try to make a playlist with more variety. Who let the dogs out is fun and nostalgic once. Three times is overbearing.Covid Specific:They are very cautious so buy tickets online in advance to get a spot. Each play area is limited to one family at a time, but the number of entrants is low enough that you are never really waiting. Wear a mask the whole time and wash your hands on entry.
Had a great time at the reopening, so much work went into the tiny details to polish the exhibits more and it was delightful to see. Very enjoyable for kids and parents. The employees are so friendly & helpful! They were just as excited as us to return! Happy to have this gem in Stockton.
Finally made a return visit to Stocktons Children Museum...havent been since pre-covid..main difference is that now to ensure admission its better to reserve your space on-line (you may still be able to get in, if its not too busy by waiting in line). Many of the same exhibits are still there...fire truck, helicopter, police car, police motorcycle, bus, & ambulance, STEM room, grocery store, delta experience/ water table, & TVstudio...however the space room has been improved, and in addition to the regular grocery store there is also a kids grocery directly across from the little kids playground...all in all the experience was familiar, family friendly, & fun for all ages...provided you enjoy watching your children / younger siblings experience & enjoy new things.
Fun for my toddler lots to explore in a couple of hours. Older kids might have fun too but might not be enough to keep them busy. Fun outing for the price. Some equipment is heavily worn but it was neat to have all the real trucks and motorcycle that you could actually interact with.
Visited the Childrens Museum to donate $100 for their fundraiser. Their delicious meal for four, with party hats, noise makers, and bunty cupcakes were awesome. Because of the virus, they could not have any fundraisers this year. This was our opportunity to help them out, because its great for our kids and our community. So anytime you have a little extra change, donate it to the Childrens Museum, because the kids are our future. They can use your help. My kids and grandkids have a blast there. See you guys there.
Absolutely love this place. Great for the family. I know I went here as a little girl but dont remember. Im glad my kids got to enjoy. A few things were down at the time but I hope they get fixed next time we go. Seems very interesting to try out. Love the details of everything and all the role playing the kids can do together, by themselves, or with other kids. I wonder if I can donate stuff to help there. 😁Its pretty cheap too only $6
We visited this place and it wasnt quite what we expected. The kids enjoyed the vehicles and the helicopter but unfortunately most of the attractions were out of order, with pieces missing, and not quite clean. The area was very run down, dusty, and the shop was closed. The price was fine but we are visiting and the reviews were nearly 5 stars so you would have expected more. It would have wonderful if the facility was kept up, clean, and just taken care of. Maybe its the lack of business. The concept is great and it has a lot of potential.
This place is a blast for small kiddos. They have a ton of things to do. Pretend play is available for just about every occupation. Store clerk, farming, post office, emergency services. My daughter and her classmates had a blast. This place is good for about 2 hours of play. I reccomend coming here for the younger crowds of kiddos. They even have a small toddler play area.
I love this place I used to go here as a child all the time and now Im taking my own children. for the price its really good for what you get the staff doesnt bug you but if you need to ask questions or find something staff is always there. The bathrooms are big and clean. And staff is always cleaning while youre playing or walking around and looking theyll clean as nobody plays with whatever is dirty or needs to be folded. They also have an arts and craft Center in there and staff will help the children its so nice I personally love the Childrens Museum and when I took my children they loved it to definitely be going back here and would definitely suggest to others to taking their children here.
We took our 4 y/o here not knowing what to expect. But its a cute place for kids and grown-ups. Everything is practically hands-on which makes it more enjoyable and realistic for the children. I highly recommend this place for families with children aged 4 and up!! We had fun!
Spent the morning here with my 1 and 3 year old. Overall the morning was fun and we will probably be back in the future.Pros: the kids could play with EVERYTHING. My daughter (13 months) likes to get into everything so having a place with nothing off limits was wonderful. My son (3) loved all the old vehicles (police car, fire engine, helicopter) and climbing in them was a lot of fun. The museum also had a good mix of stuff (animals, water, baby area, building area, legos) and kept the kids busy for a solid 2 hours.Cons: several of the exhibits were broken or didnt work (shadow room) and this was disappointing to the kids. Also the entire place is in need of a refresh. Items just look old and worn and need to be updated.Overall worth the $6 we paid and a fun morning.
Great, inexpensive ( $5 per) place to come with younger kids (6 and under imo). Lots of hands on activities, old fire truck/ ambulance/bus to play on. The little grocery store is a favorite. Outdoor area for eating lunch, also with a playground. I have been here 7 times now on various field trips and it never disappoints.
This museum is great. My kids loved it. The magic was infectious. Nearly all the parents were also playing with their kids and having a great time. There are some attractions that need attention but overall our experience was very positive. Having said that, I do not think kids 12+ will enjoy this museum. The attractions might be too childish for them.
“Fun for the young, and the young at heart”My son was invited to a childrens birthday part at the museum and it was a blast! The birthday venue was simple and hosted a good amount of people 20-25 people. The exhibits were fun for my 2 year old and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed playing along with him. They had exhibits from science with water, to an actual tractor and ambulance to explore. I would definitely recommend this place for either a birthday party, or a fun family afternoon!
My 4.5 yr old grandson had a blast. Most of the learning portions of the exhibit were broken or under repair. All the interactive climb on me attractions were working, so he still had a great time. The price was great for him to romp around and not get bored for hours. Wish he learned something from the experience, but other than th hat it was fun family time
Cool spot for the kiddos for sure and not real expensive either. Great interactive fun with exhibits that change often. Good place for them to run out some energy. I just wish they didnt charge the adults for admission too. After all...Its not for us. Or maybe half the price?
Wow! For $6 admission, this place is magical! My kids were fascinated with each station. When you walk in there are two entry points to the kids village that includes a grocery store, play house, farm, news room, an giant talking eye, and emergency response vehicles! - yes real fire trucks and busses too!I was nervous at first and hovered around my kids but after going so often I have gotten so comfortable with letting my venture a little more than usual. There is only one entrance, the secind one is alarmed with a fire bell. I even left my cell phone on the slide and nobody stole it.Bring snacks and water there us a small eating section at the entrance. I spend about 2 hours each tine I go, and there is always something I havent seen yet. Very interactive kids village set up to educate kids so many levels.
Built as a memorial to those no longer with us. Established to honor the victims of the countrys first school shooting. I think it does a very good job of communicating the message that children are our highest priority by giving them a place to just be kids. A bright spot in a sometimes bleak place.
New and improved! If you visited more than a month or two ago and were less than impressed give this place another shot! They have REALLY invested in it the last few months. When I first visited probably 6 years ago with my oldest, I thought it was dingy, aging, and quite a few exhibits were in there last legs. He still loved it, but to adult eyes it was lacking. We still visit a few times a year with my younger kids and it had not changed in those six years, but today it was great! New paint. Old exhibits fixed or retired and a whole new look to the place. They also have a trivial pursuit 50 states theme throughout the whole museum which is engaging, entertaining and educational. My 9 and 6 year olds love it, but there is still enough little kid stuff that my 4 and 2 year olds dont want to leave either. If youve got kid, try this place out!
Ive taken my grandkids to the Childrens Museum in Stockton on a number of occasions. They absolutely love it there. There truly is so much to see and experience, including the fire truck, police vehicle, ambulance, playhouse. slide, market, vets office just to name a few. Its a great experience for younger children.
This museum offers hours of educational fun at a very low price for younger children. I would say that the age range here would be 10 and under. Kids older than that might be bored at the things offered here as entertainment. Theres full-sized community vehicles here such as a bus, an ambulance, firetruck, police car, and helicopter. They have science and STEM areas as well as roleplay areas such as the grocery store shop where kids like to pretend theyre shopping.Best of all, their security is top notch here. Only one door is used for entrance/exit. Any other door opened sets off an alarm so you know nobody can sneak out with your child or no child can accidentally get out of the building on their own. Should you lose track of your child, you notify the front desk and every employee searches for them. Its truly wonderful here.
Wow! An amazing place to take your children in Stockton and fun for all adults too! Very affordable and love the interactive and educational activities! The Art Studio is a blast! The Food 4 Less center and Newsroom are my little ones favorites! New displays and activities were just added! Highly recommend for everyone!!
This place is filthy. Dont waste your time or money here. I have a membership for my son and come here once a month or so. The store and art studio are NEVER open! I dont know why they charge so much. The staff doesnt do anything. The whole place needs to be cleaned. The bathroom is the cleanest spot in the whole museum. Exhibits that are broken are never fixed. If I could give no stars I would. Take the extra drive to Lodi and visit the WOW museum instead. At least they care to take care of their museum and have excellent customer service skills.
First time here - sure wish this was here when I was a kid!! Great indoor air conditioned space that stimulates the little ones and wears em out. Educational as well as community-oriented, Im glad Stockton has a place like this and hopefully it will get even better! Possibly considering the family membership - would be worth it for my littles.
Great place in a bad area of Stockton. Admittedly this place doesnt look like much from the outside, but the inside is GREAT! High quality exhibits, lots of fun, and reasonably priced. We went there because its equal distance for my sister and I to drive. We will continue to meet there because its so great. The area around it is not great so dont leave valuables in your car and dont spend a lot of time out front.
I remember my Dad taking me to this museum over 15 years ago. Im glad to see its still going strong and it looks like theyve added a lot more to it outside of what I remember. I recall enjoying the interactivity of everything and getting excited about real world professions and the like. I highly recommend taking a side trip here if you happen to be in these neck of the woods. Honestly as a 26 year old, I want to go back.
This place is full of kid-friendly activities. Theres a post office, a grocery store, a veterinary office to pretend in Also, a real ambulance, fire truck, police car, motorcycle and helicopter! All right there and ready to drive. Those are just a beginning. And, everything in the place is for kids. I love this place.
Fantastic place for kids..all ages..has grown to include enough sets to keep kids occupied for easily 2 hrs plus....just wish they had senior and or disabled discount for aging and physical challenged grandparents who can not play any more...still a deal at only $6 per person
Okay parents looking for a cheap fun place to take the kids then this is the place to go 6$ entry fee but after that you can stay till it closes and trust me you will want to in this museum there are so many things to do but better yet so much rich history to learn from and the staff are all so nice and friendly
First time visiting! My children love it at the museum here. They are members of the San José discovery museum but when we want a change of scenery and everything Im gonna start taking them here. San Luis obispo kids museum is super cool as well if your visiting like pismo beach or san luis obispo pls try that one.....and my children love that one too!
The childrens Museum of Stockton is a wonderful play and learn area...From a grocery store to explore in and police car and motorcycle, ambulance, firetruck, magnet wall, craft center and so much more..Rainy days can be fun and easy for mom at the Childrens Museum of Stockton.

2022-06-25Came 2 weeks ago, and my kid loved it. Love that they have fire truck, police and ambulance inside. The little Food 4 Less was cute and one of their favorite activities. Tons of things to do and keep them entertained. Will be back. Worth the hour drive for me.

2022-05-05UPDATE:WE WENT 2 MORE TIMES AND I LOOKED FOR ANYTHING STICKY, DIRTY, ETC. SOMEONE ASKED ME IF THE PLACE WAS FILTHY AND GROSS. I took plenty of up close photos to show that its not. Very clean actually. I posted our adventures on YouTube, tagged #childrensmuseumstocktonca. All 3 kids LOVE LOVED LOVE IT!! AND hecka cheap! Hard to please a group with kids that are 7,6, and 2. This place NAILED it. Their brains were exhausted, thus, they ALL took a nap once we made it home and their tummies were full. We got a pass for the family to.

2022-05-06As one of the last remaining places for children in Stockton, this museum has provided us with over 12 years of fun! My kids have grown up playing here and making memories while learning and exploring. When he was younger my son loved to visit for the vehicles, my little girls love to visit for the grocery store, doctor office, and pet clinic. We all love the art center! It’s an affordable and safe family activity that kids will love!

2022-03-28Great place to bring your littles! Tickets were only $6 a person. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas. The outdopr area is more like a park with a play structure v.s. indoor with the interactive play. It was a blast following my toddler around. This would be a perfect place for a play group. There are multiple areas for the kids to explore. I great place to stop in!

2022-03-10Really cool place if you’re in the valley and need to get the kids out the house. Very cheap. $6 per person/child? Sold. Definitely could use some updated toys and replace some of the lost and broken ones but I feel like that speaks more on the parents than the center itself.

2022-03-07Yeah no this place is filthy, don’t take your kids here unless you want them to get sick! Went last week with my niece and cousins and ended up getting sick! It’s not like we weren’t washing our hands or using hand sanitizer we did multiple times because I had a feeling they didn’t clean. Us getting sick proved they don’t. There’s too much in there that the kids play with that are dirty and it very obvious they don’t disinfect anything. I read other reviews that are all the way at the bottom saying they had them same experience. NEVER AGAIN
