I thought first floor unit meant ground floor, not taking the elevator, push the B button to the basement. No issue d being a good cart. Clean facilities and elevator :)

UPDATE (6/6/2019):Received a follow-up from them yesterday and they did away with the lock fee and offered a full refund. While it did take longer than ideal, they nonetheless rectified the situation. Thank you Lafayette Central Self Storage for making things right.___________________________________________________________I shouldve listened to the reviews, but alas. I got a deal with Lafayette Central Self Storage on May 21, given their $49/month discount on 5 x 5 units. I was excited and purchased a lease. The email that confirmed my lease, however, did not take into account said discount, and said that I was to pay $135 per month. I emailed them about this, asking for a lease recognizing the deal they had online, and I received no response. Strike 1.The following day, May 22, I was actually able to arrange alternate storage with a friend and immediately called Central Self Storage to cancel my deal with them. I was given some excuse that the manager was out of the offices and so they would give me a call back. Sounded reasonable so I awaited their call. I received no call back. Between May 22 and now, I have called 4 times and have received the same story of the person being called being unable to cancel agreements or offer refunds and that they would have the property manager speak to me. I have received zero calls from the property manager. Strike 2.The final strike came on Friday, when I received an email saying that because I had not locked my storage unit, I would be receiving a fee for them having to place a lock! Obviously, though the property manager or whomever is in charge of communications could not be bothered to respond to my written and call requests, they were nonetheless more than eager to charge more money. Since I had left the lot vacant because I was not using it at all, I wrote an email stating that I would not be paying for any lock until they responded about my desire to cancel the lease and get a refund. Of course, its been two business days and Im still awaiting a response from them. After 4 calls and 2 emails over two weeks, I have received no response, not even indicating that a cancellation and a refund would happen.

Avoid. Not the best place to rent storage from. I highly recommend going local/to a small business.Somewhere you can get real customer service from, if that matters to you.I chose the Alameda, CA location because it’s indoor and offers easy-to-get-to units on the ground floor. It also seemed well secured, til the security roll-up door broke and they didn’t fix it for months! Mind you, it was not like someone drove into it - the door was poorly maintained and the mechanism that rolls it up no longer functioned correctly.Instead of having someone man the gate or setting up a temporary access code at the back, they left the back roll-up door wide open all day... so anyone can get right in. This of course also affect the access hours, tough to get in 10a-6p when you work 9a-5p. No security, no cameras, just wide open. For the months the door was broken I asked for a 10% discount, seeing as they’re not holding up their end of the bargain (basic facilities maintenance and security - which is what I’m paying for. Right?). Immediately denied. They also do not pro-rate the units. So once you pay, you’ve paid the whole month regardless of when you pull your stuff out. They’re not willing to work with you at all.I stored stuff here for exactly 1 year - and I will never use their services again.I genuinely hope they do better at customer care game, otherwise it will probably put them out of business. I’ve had far better experiences with Public Storage than I have here - despite PS being a very large business it’s clear that customers matter to them. With Central Self Storage I’ve encountered:- unaccommodating + rude staff(on phone and in person)- difficulty in reaching customer care(automated phone system leads you to VMs always - no humans without lots of stressful button mashing and luck)- broken facilities- increases in rates- a lack of accountability from the company at large

I stopped by this morning to get a few extra boxes and moving supplies. The woman working here (sorry, I forgot to get her name) was so kind and helpful. I really appreciated her happy demeanor. Sometimes it’s what makes all the difference. Thank you!

Liars! I called in and they gave me a quote. I walked in they told me double. When I showed them the email about my quote they said it was only for first month. I specifically asked them if it was for the first month when I made the reservation. I refuse to do business with people that lie like this!!!!

Abusive auto phone mail system results in interminable hold times. Good luck trying to get access to storage from this outfit.
