Great food and atmosphere. This was our first time here and we werent sure what to expect, very pleasantly surprised. Authentic and delicious, great Mariachis, and nice bar. All that and very reasonably priced. We will be going here instead of the chain restraunts as our new go to!
We came to this place for dinner and while I wasnt crazy about the salsa or our server (he wasnt rude but didnt seem like he wanted to be there, maybe just a bad day?) Neither was that bad. We were guests of my aunt and her husband. He had been going to this restaurant for 20+ years. The manager recognized him (even though he had not been there in over a year), and greeted him right away. That kind of service was unforgettable. The food was good. I love the refried beans they were really good! I got a chimichanga and it was perfect ratio of crispy and fluffy. There was a lady selling flowers, which was cute. Good size portions. My husband got the super tostada and my aunt and uncle got fajitas. My fiance ordered the virgin piña colada and it was very coconut-y. The major cons are the low flow toilets & there was way too mucu lettuce on both the chimi plate and the super tostada. Otherwise, it is great and worth visiting!
I have come to this restaurant a few times and the food is always tasty and flavorful. I door dashed a chicken fajita burrito last night and it was SO good. The portion size is unreal, it was filled with chicken and they even included chips and salsa. It’s so refreshing to get great tasting food and great service. (They followed my door dash instructions to leave out onions)I will definitely come here again.
We were celebrating a friends birthday and got to spend the evening here. I ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. They were excellent and I had a mango 🍹!!! Everything was excellent and the celebration 🍾 was enjoyable!!! Thanks for making the evening so wonderful!!!
We walked in to place a take out order. We had ordered some taco plates with rice and beans. We’ve eaten here before and always enjoyed it, so when the food was ready we headed home before checking it. When we got home we opened the boxes to find the tacos falling apart and everything covered in cheddar cheese. Our house is less than 5 minutes from the restaurant so I was surprised that the shells were already in such rough shape. The cheese was slightly hardened and it almost seemed like the tacos were made prior to us ordering and just sat there. They did let us come return the food and provided a refund. Hopefully this was just one bad experience, it was in the middle of 2020 and I know restaurants were all just doing their best to get by. Overall, this experience has kept us from ordering again. However due to positive experiences in the past we will be giving this restaurant another chance in the future.
Ordered via DoorDash so my review is solely of the meal I received. This was my first time having a meal from here and I was not disappointed. I ordered 2 ground beef enchiladas with Chile beans and they were yummy. I was amazed at the portion as it arrived in a nice foil take out tray and was full! Splitting the meal in half as it was more than enough to fill me up. I am so glad DoorDash recommended this restaurant and I am happy they service all the way to Bay Point. I will be eating here again and will definitely plan an in person visit to try the Margaritas
I have ordered from them 6 times so far and have found Mexican food nirvana! First off try the Burrito. Fresh ingredients. Now onto the Taco salad. That shell is so tasty. Once again you will get 2 meals out of it. You gotta try it. Shall I run down the rest of the menu or do get it? Try this place
My family and I used to go here regularly. This place is not the same. I have not been here in three years, we didnt return after a really bad experience. We had dined inside pre-pandemic time. There were so many flys at our table we had to be moved. They said it was because someone had opened a door, but that is not how tons of flys harbor in one area. We were also the furthest table from the door. This type of flight infestation is due to maggots and poor cleaning/hygiene. We should have called the health inspector but instead just decided not to return. Well, since the pandemic happened, and restrictions have been loosened, enough time went by where they would have had plenty of time to properly clean. So we decided against our better judgement, to give them another try. We didnt dine in this time, we got our food to go. We ordered the same meals we always do, so we knew what to expect. We received tacos that were soggy and had very little meat, brown lettuce and some runny sour cream. My enchiladas had carne asada. But the meat was cut so small it resembled hamburger meat! There wasnt any sauce or cheese on them either! My husband had a chile relleno, a tamale and an enchilada. His enchilada had flavorless chicken also with no cheese or sauce on the top. His tacos were all soggy and in the same condition, Brown lettuce runny sour cream only. My son had a super wet burrito but he said Little manuals tasted better. It was kind of weird to find out that they put Parmesan cheese on this burrito. I have had many restaurants make super wet burritos and have never heard of them adding parmesan. My husband said this will be our last time ever going to this restaurant. Either the chefs forgot how to cook or they just really dont care about quality and no longer care about producing tasty food. We have been to most all the Mexican restaurants in Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood, Pittsburgh and the Concord area. This is now on the bottom of our list, we will not be returning.
Took very long to get service, had to grab a guy for water after 20 minutes sitting, food finally came and was very tasty, but as soon as I moved food around, a bug appeared in the food, and no matter what I did it would not leave. That was the end of my meal, I explained bug issue to waiter she acted like a bug is nothing, but they were very fast with getting the check. On the way home my daughter became deathly ill, she is still very sick, hours later. Will never go back...Horrible service, with food poison, I guess...
We both ordered dinner plates with rice and beans. Mine has a chili reano and a burrito. His was burritos. Both dinners were large (I couldnt finish mine all at once) and the food was wonderful. The people working were very friendly and accommodating. Ill definitely go back.
I should have believed the bad reviews before placing an order. I ordered tortilla soup and a deluxe tostada. My soup tasted like watered-down tomato sauce with soggy tortilla chips, un melted cheese, cilantro, onion and avocado. It was nasty. The guacamole on top of my tostada was brown. I was told by the manager when I called that it was from being on top of the tostada which was hot and next time I should ask for guacamole on the side. Bottom line...I threw the food in the trash. I was afraid I would get sick if I ate the food! I basically lost $23 plus any uber eats fees. And they say chipotle is nasty. Well...at least Chipotles is seasoned!
The food was great! (Forgot to photograph the food, sorry). We were a large group and they handled everything perfectly. I enjoyed a lunch special. Chicken burrito with beans and rice. Nice large portions and very tasty! ($8.95 if I remember correctly). I would recommend you go enjoy a meal there!
My wife and I love the food here. We have brought relatives from out of state to dinner here and so far everyone we have introduced to Celias also really enjoyed it. Happy hour is an amazing deal. This is about the only Mexican Restaurant that I know of anymore that will bring hot tortillas to the table to enjoy on their own. If you are in the area and want some really good Mexican Food, give Celias a try.
They need to be a little more attentive. The food is a hit, or miss, depending on what u order. For the most part the food is pretty good with very healthy portions. Inside is dim an cozy. Good all around dinning for large partys, a date night or eating alone. They got a fantastic little bar. I normally get the Cancun plate. This time i got the perfect combination it had a 6oz. Steak, Chile relleno, enchilada, taco, with rice and beans! Ridiculously big. I loved it.
Ive been coming to this place for years. It is always right on if youre grubbing for some Mexican food. You can tell its a good restaurant because the parking lot is always packed with cars. On my last visit I got the chicken fajitas which were great. They do you have daily specials, so if you know something you like you might want, come back on that day for the special. Chips and spicy salsa always provided.
Celias ruined our Cinco de Mayo meal. I ordered a veggie burrito and it was all undercooked veggies with hardly any rice or cheese. My husbands burrito came with only meat and rice, no cheese, no Pico no quac or sour cream (it was a super burrito). My daught ordered a Carne aaada burrito and the meat was so dry she only ate two bites (shes not a picky eater at all). We spent $50 bucks and it was one of the worse lunches weve had in a long time. Maybe it was super busy because it was Cinco de Mayo but it put a real damper on our day. Ill never order Celias again, 3 stars is honestly generous!
This restaurant has great atmosphere as well as amazing wait staff. The manager, Juan, interacts with his guests regularly. As does Marisol. The food is authentic mexican and the margaritas are fantastic! and very big! We have never been rushed out even though this restaurant gets quite busy, especially on Friday - Saturday when they have Mariachis playing. Enjoyable experience.
This was our second visit to this location, and fourth overall (have been to a San Mateo location twice). The food is pretty good--seems very Americanized, but we will definitely be eating here occasionally, as our Mexican favorites came in with rock solid performances! It would seem that they need more help, or were not expecting the rush they received when they opened on Saturday, because it seemed like one waitress was serving the whole dining room, even with more and more people showing up. So, we ended up waiting for repours of water and a more than reasonable amount of time for a box and the check. This didnt affect the food, as it came out piping out. But, the understaffing is really the only negative we experienced here--and we dont blame our waitress, because she was doing everything she could. There was even a bus person helping, and even the bartender, once the dining room became very crowded.
We had a graduation dinner at Celias. There were 14 people in our party, we were loud, I had my service dog (in training), and were there past closing. The staff was so attentive, even amongst all the chaos. The food was extremely good and the portions were huge! Thank you everyone at Celias, you helped make my nephews special day even more amazing. 💜
I placed an order on-line. Got a text saying that it would be ready at a certain time. I got to the restaurant 10 minutes earlier just in case. Waited outside in line for the order. No one was calling out names for orders and there was about 10 other people in line waiting too. I went inside to ask about my order and was told that they didn’t receive it. However I paid for it already on line. So needless to say I waited 1.25 minutes for my order. When I got home the order was wrong! It had about two bites of beans and the rest was rice! I ordered a chimichanga which is supposed to have cheese. No cheese. Ordered a chicken burrito and it was steak. Said no guacamole and had tons of guacamole on it! I will never eat there or order from them again. Totally unorganized and couldn’t even get the order right when I gave them my receipt with the order printed! Totally a waste of money and time! Do not eat there!
Came back again with my son for dinner celebrating his eagle project start. I had the cocktail de camaron my son had the taco plate along with the chips and salsa. Very clean place and not too packed for Sunday dinner. I forgot to take pictures of my food. The service was excellent as the waiter continually checked on our drinks checking to see if we needed anything else. Thank you again Hector for a great meal!
Thr burrito I order was a surf and turf with extra cheese. I didnt receive any steak and no cheese on the burrito. My husband ordered a chicken burrito. $35.00 later, yes I had the nerve to tip. My brother said he couldnt believe i went here to eat or get food to go. He said everybody in Antioch knows this place food suck. Im telling the world the food suck seriously....
Some friends and I went to Happy Hour at Celias the other day for some appetizers. The sampler plate deal was great, and all of the food was quite tasty, and the price was definitely right. We sat in the bar area, so I didnt really see the dining room, but where we were, the decor could definitely use a bit of work. The tables were old and the chairs werent great. I personally dont care about that stuff too much, but I probably wouldnt bring a date there.Service was good though unremarkable. We did wait a while for a drink refill, but otherwise, no complaints. I plan to go back again soon, and maybe try some other items on the menu.
Still good food and decent prices after all these years I especially like the ala carte menu its abundant and flavorful if you want something small to get a quick eat and a beer. There is also a bar inside the facility and they were nice enough to let us finish our food and our beers even after they closed which I appreciated. There is a lot of parking and it is free here and very easy to get to and from the freeway at this location.
Great food and excellent service. It was my first time here and I had heard bad reviews about their food and service. If you have heard the same...dont believe it. The service was fast, friendly and the food was the best I have had in a long time. I highly recommend you trying it.
There are many good choices here in Antioch when it comes to Mexican food. Celias is definitely one of the best. Last time I was in with my family we had a really nice meal and everyone was happy. The taco salad is so good and their burritos are some of the best in this town. I definitely recommend Celias.
Best Mexican restaurant in town for us. The food is always yummy and if they make a mistake they fix it. Kid friendly. Clean and dimly lit to make a romantic admosphere. Parking lot is kindda small for a weekend outting so some have to wait to find a spot. They also have live music sometimes. Accommodate large groups too so perfect for birthday parties or group outting.
Jose is an excellent bartender. He makes great drinks, and remembers his customers. Ive moved out of the area and havent been to bar in over a year. He not only rembered me, but rembered one my favorite drinks he made for me. The FOOD in the restaurant is very good as well. Try the CANCUN PLATTER with whole beans. No where else has anything like it! Its delicious!!
PRESENT▶Espresso Burrito (& delicious, authentic Mexican food in general)▶Reasonable Prices▶Great Management & StaffPAST▶Nostalgia (Counts a lot for me. May or may not be relevant to anyone reading. If not, then think of this as Longevity instead.)MEMORY AND/OR FEVER DREAM▶El LocoTLDRTry it. You wont be let down.
My husband and I were searching late night for good Mexican food. The places we tried out this way tend to be bland. So I was a bit skeptical. When we walked in I knew we were in the right place. It smells familiar all the spices and flavor your mother and grandmother use. The hostess was warm and sat us right away. The drinks taste just like your drunk Tio is making them lol because he makes the best drinks. Food was delicious. The beans were on point not runny or stiff and the rice was not mushy. Service was great, only thing I wish was there was music. Music or not this place is a favorite.
Going to this Mexican restaurant is a tradition,we have gone here since I was a child. Whether for monumental occasions, graduations or a family get together, this place has always been a popular meet up for friends and family. The food is great, and service is spectacular. With the signature, Cancun platter(A favorite among the family, an array of buttered prawns, beans ,Mexican rice, and tomatoes,, lettuce and a side of guacamole) and a margarita, you cant go wrong here.
I called in an order to go. Was told it would be 15 minutes so I waited for 20 minutes before even leaving my house to pick it up. With travel time it took about 30 minutes. When I arrived to pick my order up there was only one spot to park in their lot even though the place was not full of patrons at all. I was then kept waiting for another 20 minutes for my order. So it took almost an hour just to get a few combination plates with no apologies for the wait and a 60.00 bill for food that was not that good and was all thrown into a take out box like slop. I wont be back anytime soon.
No nacho cheese. I ordered Nachos and got enough to feed 4 people (even tho Im only one person) for a really good price. I had no idea it was going to be that much. They were good but I asked for chicken and ground beef together and they decided to separate the meats on their own.
I wanted to love this place. Im new here and i wanted to give it a try. Sadly I was unimpressed. The burrito i ordered had no flavor what so ever. I sent it back i have never done that before. The waiter was very kind about it and earned a tip just based off of that. Nothing tasted fresh. I might be wrong but it sure didnt taste like fresh food . How ever the margarita was decent id give it a 7/10 it was 12.50 but huge so its ok.
Celias was an amazing experience. The food tasted amazing and the portions were heavy. I ordered hefty and i didnt even hurt the bank that bad. Brought my mom and ordered 4 margaritas all different flavors. Taco salad for her, chimichonquitas and something along the lines of pollochonga dinner platter with rice beans and plenty of red sauce(which was award winning imo) for me. Juan was our waiter and was a delight to say the least. He knew everything about everything. On the off chance theres 2-5 other juans there hes the older baldish gentleman. A+ food A+ service A+ restaurant. Will be back with more people.
I love Celias I came straight from work and was dropped off to a board meeting at AUSD school board. When I realized the public comment wouldnt be until after 7 pm. I walked over to Celias and called on my walk over to order. By the time I came in 5 minutes later after I paid my good came right out. They were polite and quick to help me get my food and back on my way to the board meeting. Very helpful.
Nice variety of traditional Mexcian fare. Chips and salsa are free with each dinner purchased. The salsa is usually nice and beefy with big chunks of sweet tomatoes. Lunch and dinner combinations offer a good value for the money. Parking is in a large parking lot with a well lit area. Expect a minor rush during lunch with women rapidly making food to order for the hungry lunch crowd!
I live right around the corner, so I finally decided to try them out. I got Tijuana taco salad and my husband got the fajita quesadilla.Neither of us are impressed with the food and went home with upset tummies. The staff was great with food coming out very fast and everyone staying on top of it with a busy dining room.
Luv me some Celias. I always have the medium margarita very good. My favorite bartender is Francisco.Like to add the customer service is ALWAYS on point. I have never had a bad dish. This is my Saturday hang out away from the grandkids. Even though my favorite bartender is Francisco, Juan and Jose r super 2.
Went there with friends for an evening Cinco de Mayo celebration. Had enchiladas and flauta for dinner. The chips they served us were house made, and could.tell right off because of the crispiness. My friends have been going here since 1995, and after eating dinner, I understood why, as their food is excellent. The cheese on the enchiladas requires spinning your fork to get all the cheese wrapped around because its so good and stretchy. Everything was definitely made from scratch, as I could tell the freshness. The place was packed, being it was Cinco de Mayo. A Mariachi band was playing there, and it lived up the place for everyone. I loved that. Nice romantic tunes they played, even in Spanish, though I dont speak it, I enjoyed listening to them. Great food, great Mariachi band, great place, GREAT celebration! Thank you Juan and staff for a great experience.
THere was good service and the mariachi wasnt great, but I ordered a well-done burger and fries (I know that isnt exactly their speciality), and got a burger that was still quite pink and overcooked fries that were thin an de crunchy. Even though it is a Mexican food restaurant, everything on the menu should be up to par in my opinion. Im going back today, will order something else and update how it was.
I have been going to this restaurant for twenty years with my family. Its become a very popular spot, locally. My family is one of the oldest familys of Antioch, so we have seen a lot of changes over the years. The Chefs at this resturant are very talented and deserve credit for their expertise and expirence. They do deliver consistently good Mexican food. However the owners, or who ever does the intake/ordering, needs to quit cutting corners. Just because the local area doesnt have a high payout in consumption and tips, doesnt mean the restaurant should cut corners in service. I expect an authentic Mexican dinner, and tonight was something short of that. My family is of European heritage, and we really dont care about race, at all, but we did feel disrespected/targeted when the cook tonight decided to put American cheese on our Mexican food. It felt outlandish and unorthodox. Besides that, our waitor did not make sure we had an adequate amount of beverages for our party. Lastly, there were teenagers smoking near the rear resturant entrance. I think a 25ft no smoking sign should fix that. I know the parents would appriciate that. Other than that, this resturant is a very nice place to eat at when everything works out. In the restaurants defence, Friday might have been a hectic time to eat out, because they have a stylish bar around the other side of the resturant. Even a few beautiful women too. Perhaps if we ate here on a Tuesday we would have expirenced a more lovely Mexican supper. I would like to say that we have faith in this restaurant and look forward to eating here again. A second chance is sometimes necessary and I know that Celias is a fine establishment. If the surrounding neighborhoods werent so dangerous and crime ridden, more money would come into the business. And more money means better service and so forth and so on. If you are eating at this restaurant, make sure it is on a quieter day of the week, that way you can enjoy a nice authentic Mexican meal. The food was hearty, and furfilling, they definitely put a good amount on the plate. Just wish they didnt put American cheese on the food. Who does that? We look forward to giving the restaurant another chance next week. P.s. the women that work here are beautiful and could probably be models if they werent so busy. FINAL REVIEW: A fine Mexican restaurant that has triumphed over the years in spite of being in the heart of some dangerous projects and sectionocts. Nonetheless, The restaurant is a safe location to eat at. Instagram: @usa.darren
I gave them high marks for excellent MOLE chicken, I cant tell you how many places put Mole on menu with no idea just how BAD to mediocre job they do, this place serves up Mole like you might find in a home style place inside Mexico. Its not too sweet, its not too hot, just spicy enough and hint of coco. Quality of sides like rice, beans, tortilla, and chips, and homemade salsa is what I expect from authentic Mexican restaurant. Will go again anytime Im in that area.
It used to be the spot but unfortunately last few times we tried giving benefit of the doubt it has failed us consistently. The food wasnt tasty and the super margarita was all sweet & sour. Had a shot and it wasnt even 1800 at least. We were very disappointed and as if now it will not be a suggestion for places to go. Im very sad really it was an antioch staple most of my adult life

2022-03-20Their food taste very home made! The rice was good not mushy just the right spices, the beans tasted like my grandmothers and I dont really eat beans but yeap ate theirs. I had chili Colorado not too spicy but just right meat was tender, flour tortillas were good. Service was great! It was busy but the service was still right on! The staff still practice safe covid which I am glad, restaurant was clean! Chips were nice and warm 😋. Great place! Keep up the good work!

2022-07-08Great place and another Antooch staple. Friendly staff and good food not priced too expensive. Free chips and salsa and its pretty good as well. They have had live mariachi in the past but I havent eaten in since covid. The enchiladas are good and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. A regular in the rotation of spots to eat out.

2022-02-25Excellent service I just feel like the food fell off a bit. This use to be one of my go to spots but last few times service on point but food didnt deliver. The Celia sampler was good, drinks good, entree was OK tamal was dry and cheese enchilada was not good at all. Next time maybe just apps and drinks.

2022-05-19We have been going to Celias for over 35 years. We really enjoy the ambiance, the ensemble, the delicious Mexican plates, the live mariachi, most importantly the professionalism, and quality of service provided by their staff. We love it!❤

2022-07-04The food is great as usual. The waiter did something that dropped this experience in the area of unannounced up charges on the bill. So if you ask for a little sour cream and guacamole on the side in this instance it was 7.50 and the margarita was $10 extra from the posted price, but overall the food was good.
