Great beach for family fun. Short walk to water, swings and slide on the beach. Only knocking a star because it would be better if they kept it clean... So much organic debris (seaweed, etc) that attracts flies. If you stay in the water you are fine, but if you want to relax on the beach you will be constantly shewing away flies.
I Love Cyucos ❤️. The beach is awesome! the Half pipe is sick! Duckies is Delicious! Ocean Front Pizza is Tasty and Friendly 👍. The Antique/Thift stores are nice and have kool stuff. The Brown Butter Cookie company has delectable cookies with a sweet attitude too match. The Cyucos Super Market has plenty of food and stuff to buy and has an ATM, they also sell Large bottles of Cyucos sauce for around 9$. Very tasty sauce hot sauce. 🔥.
Really nice clean beach! Dog friendly, except on the pier. Really good for families with the tide pools, playground, and pier all in close proximity. Places to eat all very close by too. The weather is always good here too, it seems to be a hair cooler here than the rest of the California coast.
We absolutely adore this beach. It has clean bathrooms, a great playground, wonderful restaurants, and the water goes out far and allows children to run and play, safely. The beach is clean, theres a great view of Morro Bay and The Rock, always tons of space and friendly people. It is quintessential Central California beaching!
Love the sleepy central coast towbs but was disappointed in Cayucous this time. The beach was full of debris. Not trash, but shards of wood covered most of the beach. Parking lot needs to be repaved & sidewalk could use some repairs too. The pier was in excellent condition. A small playground & swings are on the beach. Lifeguards are only on duty during the summertime. Bathrooms are available & they do have an outdoor shower area for people to be able to rinse off the sand. Surfboard & wetsuits rentals are available at nearby buisnesses connected to the beaches parking lot.
Favorite beach on the central coast. It is the definition of the quaint California Coast town. We love all it offers; parking next to the beach, restaurants, pier and shops are easily accessible and a great playground for the little ones. Minutes away from Morro, Pismo and Cambria. One of our favorite spots.
This is a really nice place to visit I stayed there for 4 days and it was an amazing time walking the beach. There a nice coffee shops and a Friday farmers market with really nice food. I encourage everyone to go band if you have a pet or not make a donation for the pet waste bags. The volunteers work really hard to keep them full and the area clean.
Great family-friendly beach. Swings and playground for the kids. Benches along wall to sit down. 6-ft fountain to rinse off your feet and body after getting out of the ocean and walking across the sand. Great restaurant right across from the beach called Duckies chowder House.
Best beach in California....1. have a dog? Then #1 beach in CA2. enjoy a 5 mile walk-you can actually walk from the pier to Morro Bay and back a 12 mile round trip.3. only few people here on most days4. waves are pretty gentle5. If the wind picks up kite surfers love it
This beach is stunningly beautiful. We saw dolphins there frequently, swimming up and down beyond the breakers. And the waves were great for some bodyboarding. Can get crowded on the weekend (especially in our covid-19 times) but theres plenty of space to move further up the beach away from others, either by walking or driving further north and finding beach access up there.Love that this beach is right next to the shops and restaurants. Highly recommend hidden kitchen for some hearty and mind-blowing blue corn waffles for when all that playing in the surf makes you hungry! (And dont forget your wetsuits - it makes the California Pacific coast so much more bearable, dare I say even pleasant!)
I visited the beach for the first time with my family on a sunny afternoon. The people at the beach were very friendly and pleasant, and we walked about two miles on the beach, picking up some small shells and ocean tossed rocks. I found the beach to be mostly clean and attractive.
The beach is a good size, and it didn’t feel crowded when I was there. Lots of friendly people and lots of friendly dogs. Seagulls were pretty chill too. Wonderful waves that are good for fighting and boarding on. Also saw a seal swim up pretty close while I was out in the water. Only problem was that it was windy and a bit chilly, but it doesn’t stop the fun
Always love Cayucos. Its more rocky and small than other beaches, but its more relaxed as well. The pier is better than others because the wooden planks are closer together. Also, the water always seems a little colder, but the waves are bigger. Watching surfers from the pier is fun. They have some good eats and interesting little shops. Its a good, calm beach town.
My favorite place! A little piece of paradise with absolutely the best weather most of the time. Some of the best times of my life took place here! Definitely, check out “Duckies Chowder House,” family owned, great service and food is excellent! Jen (owner) is awesome! And right next door is candy shop with the best taffy !
We love Caucus State Beach! Our children in the family are the third generation enjoying the beach and all the other attractions, such as food, shops and beautiful scenery. The only reason this review got 4 instead of 5 stars is that recently when visiting the beach there were huge stacks of brush or cut limbs all along the beach like it was there for a reason? Maybe it washed in, in a storm.Never the less, the area was lovely as usual and we had a good time there. One fun favorite is to walk to the end of the beautifully restored pier to look out to sea, watch the surfers, and turn and look back to the stunning panoramic view that is Cayucos. You will enjoy your day here I am sure, we always do!
The beach was in great shape for our October 4th visit. However, when leaving your site that you have set up, (to go walk the pier or down the beach) leave someone behind to watch your food items. Cause if those items are not securely sealed away, there will be certain birds that will investigate, open up and distribute food items to others of their species. Bottom line, seagulls like barbecued chips....
Fun place for the whole family. Never crowded. Last time I went I wished I had prepared to stay all day because I didnt want to leave. Also there are some nice places to eat a stone throws away from the Cyucus pier and if you still have energy later on, there are a few bars that I here very good things about. Public restrooms are clean and an outside shower to rinse off the salt water is always nice if you went for a swim. Check it out.
My family and I have been visiting Cayucos since 1979. I found Cayucos to be my favorite Town ever. It is a sleepy small town with very friendly people. The beach is one of the longest beaches and it is pristine. The best thing that I like about Cayucos and the beach is that The shops are located right across the street and if you are sitting on the beach it is only a small walk to food and other things. It is a great Beach to bring your dog also. Parts of the beach are leash off so your dogs can have a great time. Sitting on the beach and watching the sunset is one of my favorite things. Visit Cayucos during 4th of July weekend they have a parade and I have been to quite a few parades this is one of the longest parades that Ive ever been. You will have a great time.
Always beautiful here, whether fogged in or 80 degrees. A gem on the central coast, I would highly recommend stopping by if you havent. And if your familiar with the area its probably time to stop by here on the way up Highway 1 for a drive right? I always escape up Highway 1 for time away from it all. And the little strip in town has great food and goods to buy. Excellent for finding rocks and shells too.
Nice little spot out of nowhere. Parking can be a hassle. The beach needs to be cleaned more imo. The water near and beyond the beach area is green. Lots if algae it looks like. Also needs to be clean if possible. If you dont or cant stop by, youre not missing anything.
Great beach with a nice pier stuff for the kids to do, swing sets good restaurants local Smokehouse smoking local fish four-star restaurants and lodging right on the beach. Not commercialized great local community. You can walk for miles on this beach all the way to Morro Bay if you choose
Going to Cayucos and Moro Bay for my vacation was the best time I ever had.. In the past few years everything has changed , the locals are no longer friendly.. Their rude and hostile..Its terrible what California has turned into.. All the good places that where home town diners and shops are gone.. Sadly! I will never go back again..
I like this place schooners has good food and drinks. Can venture to morro bay long trek but its possible. Fishing. Pizza place. Duckies a good little place for basic foods like fish and chips and chowder. Skate park behind schooners. Alot of other eateries coffee places a few antique stores away from the beach. This place has swings a little play area if you walk right from the pier their are rocks to climb head towards cambria passed cayucos their are some dirt turnoffs with cool little beach places on your left good for rock climbing finding rocks maybe shells just dont let the tide trap you.
One of the best beaches to just go hang and relax. Gets crowded certian times of the year. Its one of our favorite places to go spend the day. Time at the beach and then just a very short walk are a wide variety of stores mostly antique stores. I suggest walk down the beach to where the are and not so busy. Recommend!
Been going here since I was a kid. 40-50 years. Hasnt changed much. There are still vacant lots on the main road, right in town. Unbelievable.Pismo used to be a fun, small town. But they sold out to rich developers. Hotel , motel, holiday inn. I wish millennials could see what it used to be like. With Cayucous, you still see it. Growth is a no-no. My kind of town. Unspoiled. Still a great piece if Americana. No McDonalds. No Starbucks. No big box stores. Always feels safe. Great antique stores. Boutiques. Coffee shops. Its like Mayberry on the beach.
Cayucos State Beach has the Pacific Ocean on the West side and a boardwalk on the East. The shoreline is the west border of a small California town that caters to bikers, surfers, and families. There are many restaurants. All of the sit down eateries have bathrooms. Ive been in several restaurants and bathrooms. The menus are primarily Mexican and American and often quite good. Special diets, vegan and gluten-free can often be accommodated. Most restaurants on the west side of Ocean Avenue have boardwalk and ocean views. Prices are moderate. And, of course, beachwear, surfing supplies and t-shirts are available. The parking is free, wheelchair accessible, but often tight.
Visiting here for the holidays and my in laws brought me here and I had a blast! Very clean and beautiful beach and awesome pier and boardwalk. If you visit here you gotta eat at Duckies. Youll regret it if you dont. Their food is beyond great! I could come here every day and never get tired of it. I cant say enough good things about this place.
Amazing place were just a quiet calm down you cant get any other experience anywhere else in California. Foggy sleepy Amazing Town. Be careful on holiday weekends with parking you will not find parking. If you want to walk your dog make sure you have leash on it and you pick up after it. The last thing anyone wants to do is walk through dog poop on a beautiful State Park. Remember no glass bottles on a state park its against the law. But bring your kids have some fun eat some food ride the waves check out the tide pools and just be green please people its state park.
One of the best family beaches in California! Beautiful views of the ocean, cliffs, countryside and Morro Rock. When its foggy in Morro Bay, its usually clear in Cayucos. Not overly crowded or dirty like some of the more popular beach towns. Plenty of good restaurants. It definitely has an old town charm. The tide pools are really fun to view sea life. Many great childhood memories and the ones Ive made their as an adult with my wife, kids and grandbaby. Spent many hours fishing on the pier as a kid. A fun and relaxing little town.
I went to cayucos beach the day after the 4th of July and was supprized to see it clean from fireworks and other trash you would expect after the holiday. . Its a nice beach and you can see a lot of scenic areas from a short drive north to old san Simeon to another beautiful beach where you can see Hurst castle.
Cayucos State Beach is one of the most beautiful little Beaches in California. The Pier the little beach houses and bungalows make this beach one of our states hidden secrets. If your a surfer it is a dream town and beach to stay at forever. It is a little paradise hidden right in plan view.

2022-06-22The power of the waves on the Pacific Coast was extreme. My friends and puppies were so happy to stop from our long road trip. It was a short walk from the beach parking lot. Also, the city restrooms were clean and had working showers. The beach was a great way to stretch your legs and have a picnic. The view was amazing.

2022-04-15Quiet. Gorgeous. The waves are perfect for body surfing. Go to the end of the pier. Glance out to the ocean and turn around to admire a lovely town of cayucos.

2021-07-27Had a great Saturday in July here. The drive from Fresno isn’t too bad, a few traffic slowdowns on the way back but nothing too stressful. I enjoy this state beach because it is located walking distance to bathrooms (bring your own toilet paper if you are there later in the afternoon) , restaurant’s, take out clam chowder and other shops , including the famous Brown Butter Cookie shop. Lifeguard was on duty the entire time we were there (10am - 5pm). Clean and maintained beach. There is also a large parking lot with steps leading down to the beach.

2019-08-14This is a long and very scenic beach but not a remote one with easy access from surface streets that run adjacent to it. There is a pier, a newly constructed pier with plenty of ocean life to see if youre patient and keep your eyes open. Sand dollars all over the beach, some shells. When I was there a deceased Elephant Seal had washed ashore. That was cool to see. Youll like this beach, town.

2022-02-06I absolutely love this small town of 2,600 and the state beach. A wonderful family spot and a very dog friendly place to have fun with your dog. Most all dogs are unleashed and there is more dog fun going on than people fun some times.
