Just the ideal tiny California beach town with great food and views for miles. Whether fishing or just strolling down the new pier....its always a delight to be surrounded by the Pacific Ocean& see the hundreds of seabirds surfing the sky. The weather here is almost perfect as it gets
There is quite alot of little stores that you can go see and purchase souvenirs there is alot places you can go eat or just sit down to enjoy the view you can also rent bikes to ride with a family or friends or ride alone great place to bring family kids friendly as well
It is quite nice if you dont want to deal with a crowd. People were respectful. We settled down and got Pizza from across the street at Ocean Front Pizza which was ready in 15 minutes. It is nice place for bringing your family and there is also a play area for the kids and an outdoor shower.First time here and wont be the last. A lot of cute ocean front restaurants as well.
We traveled to the Central Coast from the southern California to enjoy its beach living. We visited the pier for 4th of July because we saw online that a sandcastle competition was to take place at 8am. Then, a local in Paso Robles mentioned that they were headed to Cayucos for the holiday, so we figured it must be something to try. We expected professionally-sculpted castles, but these were great nonetheless. The pier and beach were filled with tons of locals enjoying the festivities. Local shops and restaurants were open and thriving. Pop up vendor tents were placed along the sidewalks and the castles were accessible for all to see. Certainly, this was a busy day for the pier, bit it was nice to see the communitys involvement in its annual festivities. Parking was first come- first served but manageable. The pier is welcoming and quaint. For us city folk, the pier was inviting and accessible. Thank you, Cayucos, for your hospitality.
Beautiful place for the family with an excellent playground right on the beach and pet friendly too! If you surf, be prepared for some great waves! Excellent food spots right off behind it. Anyone would enjoy this spot as long as you like some sand and sun! (Great rocks found as well if you like to rock hunt!!)
Love this dog friendly area. Watched the amazing 4th of July fireworks that were exploded from the pier. Lots of people, food vendors and fun. Bring a blanket, chairs, an umbrella and snacks. Be prepared, it gets chilly when the sun goes down. Come early to claim your spot on the beach to watch the annual fireworks show.
Such a spectacular place to see sealife...ocean is teeming with it!! We once were walking on the beach there and saw a whale stick his enormous head out of the water at the end of the pier....twice...with his mouth wide open eating krill no doubt. It was one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen..I was honored to have been there! I adore Cayucos...and most especially the pier!
A great place to get all your fresh vegetables and fruit. fresh from the Central Coast. Really nice local students and people always helping out no matter what it is. And always an affordable price. Always love the beef and chicken sale prices. Especially barbecuing the Great ribeyes. On any football ribeye night with your buddies.
My girlfriend and I have been here for two days. This is a really small, but lovely beach. The pier really extends out quite far and you can see the whole city pretty well. They have one main street that runs down near the beach and a few very cool stores and restaurants. This beach is not quite as touristy as like Morro or Pismo, so check it out and enjoy. We had a great time.
The pier is the heart and soul of the small town of Cayucos. Strolling along it, chatting to fishermen who are remarkably successful, looking down at seals, birds and dolphins. A perfect easy way to spend a few hours each day. Followed by lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants. A tough life
Absolutely gorgeous here! We had a beach birthday party with a campfire, hot dogs and smores. The moon was full and we stayed there talking most of the night. My second ever beach experience was a smash! If you are there into the night, take your own toilet paper to the bathrooms by the pier because more than likely youll need it. ☺️
My Boyfriend James and I showed up at the Pier very early in the morning, we walked holding hands across thier, with absolutely complete privacy, it was gorgeous, a little cool from the water rolling in, huge waves, very romantic and a little scary,it was thrilling and very beautiful ❤️ I would recommend this outing for anyone that wants a little bit of awesomeness
Great Beach. Restrooms right at the entrance to the beach. 6 ft tall water fountain to rinse off body and feet with water. Benches along the sidewall for people to sit down. Lots of swings for the kids to play on. Nice pier to walk on. Most family-friendly beach around.
Cayucos began to evolve during the Spanish Land Grant days and was originally part of the Morro Bay Cayucos Rancho. Captain James Cass built the original wharf, which channeled commerce throughout the coastal communities. Cass began construction of the pier in 1872. Originally 380 feet long, boats still had to anchor out beyond the pier as the shoreline was too shallow. In 1876, the pier was lengthened to 982 feet, allowing ships to dock right alongside. Although 40 feet of the pier were removed when the state took control, the Cayucos pier remains a central landmark of the area.In July 2013, the pier was closed due to concerns about its condition after a rough winter storm. The pier had missing or deteriorating piles, and degraded beams and cross bracing. But thanks to a massive $3.5-million rebuilding effort coordinated by passionate local residents, the pier has been virtually reconstructed. The town of Cayucos celebrated the reopening of the historic pier on Halloween 2015, with a community party
The pier is a great place to view wildlife and local surfers. If the waves is big enough, you may even see surfers jumping off the edge so they can get that one perfect ride. There is an otter who hangs out in the kelp beds. He is there quite often; hes quite amusing. Bring two things with you: binoculars and a heavy sweatshirt. The binoculars will help you catch glimpses of migrating whales. The sweatshirt will protect you from the wind, which is bone chilling this time of year. And yes, you do need to wear a mask.
If you walk all the way down to the right on the beach there are a bunch of rocks where you can find a ton of crabs, hermit crabs, and snails! Yet you also have a long beach area to hang out, and a peer to fish off of or take pictures. We saw dolphins swimming by when we were on the peer as well. Really neat place.
My 4 year old granddaughter and I walked the pier her high upon my shoulders. Pointing down then pointing over there, Papa whats that, and whats that!I tried to keep up with her it was a challenge. We walked to the beach and Zoey couldnt wait to sink her toes in the sand.We had fun checking everything out, wading in freshwater draining to the ocean. She got to stay as long as she wanted. Happily we left the coast and it wasnt long before she was napping so happy.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If youd like a scenic view of the California coast line, and good food this is a wonderful place to visit. on The fourth of July there is always a very grand fireworks show worthy of a large city. It also doubles as a great fishing spot if youd like to see some of the superb species we have locally!
As simple coastal piers go this one is simple, but nice. People fish from it, on clear days you get a great view of Morro Rock, and its a nice walk out and back. Bring a jacket. Its often chilly out there. I especially like going under the pier where it extends on the beach before it hits the water.
We came over here when we were visiting Cambria and came into town for the 4th of July parade and the sand sculptures on the beach. As usual it was a blast. The sand sculptures it seems are getting more intricate and have more entries. The parade as usual was great. For a small town it is an awesome event with thousands of people attending. We also came back into town at night to watch the fireworks which again Were spectacular. We plan to be back again next year.
I grew up here, so my opinion is totally biased, but its always so nice to take a stroll on the pier and watch the beachgoers. Theres usually surfers catching a wave or two and theres some play equipment for the kids. The restrooms have a place to rinse the sand off your feet and great food is right across the street.
We stayed the night in Cayucos and went to the pier in the afternoon, that evening after eating and then in the morning just at sunrise. What a neat little simple pier. Just a pier with some lights and benches, no shops, nothing extra. What a neat place to stand or sit and watch and listen to the waves. Took some great pictures, visited with some of the locals fishing and thoroughly enjoyed this local treasure.
If you want to sit and look down at the town of Cayucos and have a bite to eat in your car you can park in the dirt parking lot of the old auto mechanic shop at the very North End of town. Cayucos is Charming and on a beautiful day sitting up there and looking down at it makes for a great lunch spot!
Great place to stop on the PCH. There are a lot of beach activity, and restaurants on the Ocean Ave. And the temperatures cool. But, the sunset was the highlight of the Road Trip video. In fact, I had plans to go farther up the PCH, but the sunset at Cayucos was so good, I stayed until dark and got some great stuff to make a YouTube video.
A great pier. On the farthest end, there is an endless view at your leisure. The chance to see animals increases greatly depending on the time of day. From diving birds to free floating kelp, fun fact, the kelp growing off the Pacific ocean all forms in the same pattern. The tide is semidiurnal, meaning there is a high high tide and a low low tide every day!
One of the most beautiful piers at the Central Coast, just renewed, offers spectacular views of the all the way to Morro Rock. The small beach town has many nice stores & restaurants, but the pier is definitely the focal point. Parking is usually available right of Hwy 1 and along the boardwalk.

2022-06-22The power of the waves on the Pacific Coast was extreme. My friends and puppies were so happy to stop from our long road trip. It was a short walk from the beach parking lot. Also, the city restrooms were clean and had working showers. The beach was a great way to stretch your legs and have a picnic. The view was amazing.

2022-06-13Visited this pier almost midnight. It’s a pretty long pier standing more than 950 feet into the ocean. We went all the way to the end but were scared to look ahead into the pitch dark ocean. This has a good old history, constructed in 1872. In 2015, it was reconstructed with a whopping $3.5 million funding from passionate locals. You can see the plaques all over the pier with names of people and families who contributed for the reconstruction. Locals love to visit it everyday. You can see campfires on the beach at night with families enjoying. Ample parking available close by.

2022-04-21My first visit to Cayucos was a bright sunny day, but windy and chilly. My guess is its windy here a lot. We walked out to the end of the pier just to stretch our legs. Its a great view of Morro rock in the distance.
