This place is amazing! I took my electric guitar for a set up and I was blown away by the quality of service. For many years I was taking my guitars to guitar center for maintenance and was always unhappy because they would just do basic work I could have done myself. Village Music really took care of the details I need as a working musician. When I got my guitar back from them it felt like it was back to its best condition. I am super happy to have found this shop!

I’m so bummed to write this review but be warned of the owner. She is a strange bird. We had 3 piano teachers in 3 years. We loved all of our teachers which is why we stayed. Unfortunately, two of our teachers passed away. My little girls were very sad and the owner always handled it strangely and with little empathy for the small children who had developed a beautiful relationship with their teachers they saw religiously every week. Many other odd run ins with the owner. Interestingly, I had two of her front desk employees apply for a position at my business because they had so many issues with her as well. Our recent teacher had gotten married and gone in his honeymoon, no problem. We were very excited for him, my girls were especially because they love weddings. The teacher told us he would be gone a week or so. It had been three weeks, and we didn’t have lessons one week and then they found a sub for the other days. We were notified of the sub less than an hour before the class via text by the owner. I simply asked her if she could let me know in advance if there would be a sub so I could plan accordingly and decide if we would attend. We take lots of private lessons for softball and so forth. I would never show up and just have a different coach without notice. Similarly, my youngest is in speech therapy and when her therapist is out they call me to tell me somebody else would be covering and give me the opportunity to decide to attend. I never asked not to pay! I just asked to be notified. I got a return text that basically said she can not accommodate thar simple request because they have too many students and basically my daughters were no longer going to have piano lessons anymore there. Mind you, I’ve never expressed to the owner how I odd I felt she was. I was always kind until this moment. We got kicked out! It was very sad. My daughters took lessons there for 3 years and my stepson took guitar there as well. Guess her clients aren’t valued which makes sense why the rest of the interactions were so strange. I guess it’s hindsight. It’s actually quite expensive as well. I paid $266/month. Guess my money wasn’t valued either. I’m just in shock over her reaction to a simple question.Nice teachers-odd owner! Many better options out there.

Fast, friendly, professional, and super affordable.Jared setup two guitars for me and had them ready overnight at an incredible price. They sound better than they ever have. Thanks so much!Oh, and the shop puggie Rizzo is the cutest dog in all of North County.

I wanted to purchase something for my bass. Completely ignored me when I walked in, by two of the staff. Am I invisible? There were no other customers. Ignored me when I walked out as well. Will not be purchasing here in the future.

Came in looking for a screw for a jazzmaster saddle. The guitar tech was very welcoming and knowledgeable and managed to find the perfect fit for the bridge saddle. The staff over all is kind. Very refreshing coming into a music shop with people who share the same love for instruments and music! Great people great vibe!

A nice little shop with friendly service and a smallish, but respectable selection of budget to pro instruments/amplifiers, as well as convenient store parking. Some guitars needed a setup or new strings, but many were unique, vibey choices, which I appreciated. I had fun talking shop with the manager and will be back, when in town.

Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. I went in to check out a guitar I found online and noticed a price descrepency with the tag vs. the listing. A quick phone call to the owner to check on this by a staff member and I walked out with the better deal.Besides my experience they have a wonderful selection of instruments and a staff that looks after their customers.

Love this music store! As a Berklee College of Music student, I needed quick help with an old acoustic/electric that had been hanging on my wall for 6 years. The staff/owners at Village Music were super helpful. For a ridiculously low price, they re-strung my Epiphone jazz guitar and adjusted the action for free! It now plays beautifully so I can catch up on my studies after having a finger injury. This new management is super!Highly recommended.

I love this place. Yeah its a big chain shop- but this one still manages to keep a mom and pop vibe. With familiar faces like The Mayor, who always keeps treats handy for local pups who are welcome inside (and a lucky few are even photographed on the wall)...just one example of keeping a rad family vibe. The staff are ultra helpful and they get anything they might not have ordered ASAP. Love this place!!!

Carlsbad Village Music is a wonderful place. I studied guitar there for almost three years, and it was both an essential and incredibly fun part of resuming my music studies. It’s a very supportive environment where people of all ages are discovering the joys of music. The staff was also very helpful regarding guitar accessories and repairs. My teacher Rik always kept me engaged and progressing regardless of how much I had practiced. He knew how to foster my individual musical expression while at the same time answering my endless music theory questions. Thank you!
