BEWAREIf you rent or exchange for a 1 bedroom condominium with a king size bed you could be downgraded with no compensation and end up in a 1 bedroom condominium with a queen size bed with no box springs. The resort has been contacted and they verified that this could happen. It happened to me!BEWAREAfter reading the resorts response, it would seem they would have the common courtesy of actually reading the review before attaching their standard response. The resort has already been contacted and the resort has verified that you can be assigned a downgraded room! BEWARE
Great facility, quiet, well-appointed rooms. Great ocean sounds and views from wonderful outdoor lawn and pool areas. Salt water pool, enormous jacuzzi. Floors above units are a bit noisy because of the original construction. Bathrooms are not accessible for many older people, glass doors on showers and lack of grab bars makes it risky for many people. Otherwise I’d rate it 5 star.
The amount of unprofessionalism and disappointment that we have just encountered with the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort has left me completely speechless and disappointed. We have stayed at this hotel over a dozen times, and it has become our go to vacation destination for my family. We absolutely love our time at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort - until now.We were set to check in tomorrow, for a two day vacation for my daughter’s birthday. I received 24 hours before we were set to arrive on our vacation, that they can no longer accommodate our reservation and have to move us properties. Basically, our daughter’s planned vacation is now cancelled because they just don’t have room for us anymore. We were booked and paid through a reputable hotel website, Priceline.com, and confirmed our reservation with them a few weeks ago. They refused to escalate our concern further and the only solutions are to move us to other properties in the area. None of which are walking distance to the beach, or at the tradition of going to this SAME property we always visit for our weekends away. Our daughter has been looking forward to this for a month for her birthday present, because she enjoys trips to your property. When I ask why our room is just no longer available, I was not given a reason other than “Sometimes these things happen”. They clearly overbooked and did not have a solution to correct this. We believe someone called to use their timeshare after we were booked at the resort, and so we got bumped because of overbooking. The only solution they have found for us was to move us properties - which is not what we planned nor paid for.I am writing this so other travelers can understand they may get booted from their reservation at the last minute when they accidentally overbook or have time share owners that decide they want to come (and they get priority). I am sorry to say this has ruined our experience with your hotel for the future. The disappointment and unprofessional experience has never happened in any of my experience booking trips and hotels.
My 2nd time here because the location is solid for me. Real great location downtown. Room was nice, they don’t clean it everyday which was odd. People who work here are snotty. The WiFi is basically non existent in the rooms which stunk. Positives are it’s clean, close to downtown & great restaurants, the beach and has a nice courtyard.
Your reservation desk upon arrival was terrible. I booked 4/8 for 5/1/22 one night stay. I arrived at 8:30am to get parking pass & said to phone me if room was ready before the 4:00 pm check in time. I came back, waited in line at 4:00 pm & was told by the desk clerk (Briana) room not ready & told me I was 3 minutes early & to leave & come back. I stayed at your hotel in the past but couldn’t remember why I started staying at a different hotel and then it all came back to me. It was the way we were treated at the front desk.Reservation #2004014, for $340 a night completely unacceptable.Gena
Great location! Very close to beach boardwalk which is paved and great for people with disabilities. Many great restaurants within walking distance! Some we. enjoyed were... Cafe Topes (eggs benedict with tri-tip) and or the ham. Also, enjoyed a fabulous Doughnut from The Goods there as well. Also had a wonderful dinner at Vigiluccis Cucina Italiana. Le Papagayo had live music every night and great Mussels.
No explanation at check in as to how housekeeping would now work with the pandemic. The condos need internal renovation. We have been coming for 19 years and the same furniture remains except now they are scratched, tall chest in living room bottom drawer sticks to top door, mold behind toilet, etc. You are not going to compete well with new construction or better maintained existing options. The best is the “concierge” at her lobby station. She is friendly and welcoming, as opposed to the young new employees at registration/check out. This is not the Ritz nor is it Motel 6. Front desk seems confused about their place of employment. Why would you put an elderly couple in the condo above the playground? I made reservations back in June and requested 3rd floor, close to ocean. Called back in late September to confirm - didn’t happen. We are returning in June and are unsure of staying here - sad after 19 years!
We booked a last minute condo the day prior to arrival. Here are the pluses:1) Great Location. Ocean view and walk to everywhere2) Nicely appointed and well organized room3) Over the top friendly maintenance and housekeeping staff4) Spotlessly clean and well maintained grounds. Very inviting place to read a book or relax.5) Accommodating check-out policy. We had hours to kill before our flight, and the front desk switched our room key to a gate key, giving us access to the facilities until it was time for us to leave.6) Happy Hour parties with snacks, drinks and live music throughout our stay. The only downside was that we didnt realize how much the resort had to offer, until we noticed the electronic activities calendar as we were checking out. Not that I would have taken a painting class, but given that throughout our stay we were driving to a yoga studio, it was disappointing to find out later that yoga was offered on-site. It would have been beneficial to have been directed to the activity board when we were checking in. That being said, I still would give this place a great rating, and if you are reading this review, you now know to go look at the electronic calendar as soon as you check in.
Booked for 1 night for our wedding anniversary. Booked the condo because no hotel rooms were available with an ocean view. Didnt realize that booking was through 3rd party because I asked at the time and was told it was a direct booking. To make things worse at check-in I was told my 3rd floor room was not available (even though I called that morning and was told it was and they would reserve it for me for check in later that day). I believe the nice man at the front desk did his best to accomodate my request but he said the only 3rd floor room available was pretty far back and on the street side so basically we ended up with a 2nd floor unit. It was nice and the view was nice but the check in process was so long and frustrating and Im still mad that they couldnt accommodate my request. I am an owner of a timeshare here so I was further angered that they didnt do something to make things better so I will never book a condo here again, I will just stick with our annual stay for the timeshare. Bottom line, dont book a condo with Carlsbad Inn because you dont know what you will get.
Love everything about this resort. Great views, great rooms that are clean and well kept, staff is extremely attentive and host a lot of great mini events, and the amenities are incredible (rentals for all beach toys, towels, chairs, etc. . . a fantastic pool and family hottub, as well as a great adult only hottub, a great little playground and a big grassy commons area with plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas + Fireplaces and probably more Im forgetting).Love everything about it!!!!
Very nice hotel very clean my only complaint too much light coming in the rooms at night when you’re trying to sleep yes they have shutters over your sliding glass door but the light still comes in they definitely need black out curtains. Other than that it was awesome.
We checked in for a 3 week stay and gave a credit card for the deposit and despite that they charged a different credit card for week 2 of our stay AND it was a different amount. That wasnt acceptable- we didnt want it on that credit card. The Wifi has been terrible, and the check in process each week is sporadic, or at least different each week for no reason!!
This place was recently remodeled but has been a corner stone to carlsbad for decades best location in carlsbad has a a couple restaurants and shops just in from the beach everything in walking distance my parents got married there 30 years ago plus have stayed there when available beautiful pool with great views of ocean property is extremely well kept out side and they just did interior remodels of the rooms but did not get the chance to see as they were booked at the time we came
Stayed here for a few days. The stay was good. The rooms were clean. Service was good like when we requested new towels. Beds were good. The refrigerator was adequate size. A nice balcony as well. The only bummer is that our room was on the very south end of the hotel. Next door is a place that has multiple restaurants. The trash truck comes EARLY on Saturdays and Mondays due to the place having a lot of trash. The truck is loud while it unloads the trash bins. I would suggest a room elsewhere.Along with the place next door, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The place is across the street from the Carlsbad outlet center and the flower fields. We didnt use the pool but noticed people enjoying it. Enjoy your stay.
A hidden gem right smack on the beach in Carlsbad Village! This place is a real find! It is small but not too small, the grounds are beautiful, there are beach views from some of the rooms and from the courtyard. The resort offers fun activities throughout the week too. The beach is a very short walk across a small street…in the other direction is Carlsbad Village, great places to eat and shop all walking distance. Worth checking it out! We will be back!
Before checking out staff went into our room and took items. When speaking to gentlemen at front desk he was challenging as he defended staff and advised me things that were not true… he took my number and advised he would follow up and call me back which he did not. Housekeeping found my items that were taken and returned them to me. Your front desk response was lacking any responsibility to my stay! Disappointing
Perfect location and the hospitality is fantastic! Despite Covid restrictions, the staff made sure to take great care of us. The resort is beautiful and it’s across the street from the beach so super convenient! We had a great stay and our room was comfortable, great amenities and highly recommend! We will be back next year with even more friends!
Lovely location, but the “resort” feel seems to stop there. Outdated finishes, baaaaad wifi, no bar or breakfast/room service options unless you count a vending machine. Only one lamp in the room worked and I sorted it out myself before maintenance arrived. Our room faced the street, and we listened to a loud nightclub all night, which was super charming. The water pressure in the bathrooms was basically non-existent.Housekeeping only available if you call and ask for it. I get that you’re basically paying to stay near the beach in SoCal but for the price I wish I’d booked somewhere more modernized. I suppose “quaint” is the term, but “quaint” isn’t the vibe I want when I book a weekend stay for almost $800. Wouldn’t recommend, sadly.
Pros: The size of the room was awesome and full kitchen was great. The resort is centrally located and close to good restaurants and fun little shops.Cons: Internet was almost non-existent. No smart TVs or streaming services in the room. After checking in and walking barefoot for ten minutes in the room, our feet were black. Stray hairs embedded in the “clean” towels. Loud neighbors where you can hear every single footstep if you have anyone above you. Had to call and complain on neighbors who were blasting loud music all day and into the night. Had to wait for “quiet hours at 9pm” before they would do anything about it. Then it started all back up again the next day. Not really an ocean view unless you’re leaning way over to the side on the patio.
Seriously just a semi expensive hotel with a great view. Not much resort about it. Employees were very friendly but requests were rarely fulfilled.Lobby bar with incredibly limited food options and other than that you have to go off property for food. Luckily theres a micro brewery and restaurant adjacent to the parking lot. The hot tub was overrun by 8 to 9 year old kids jumping and splashing. And everything shuts down at 9:00 p.m.
The design of this building is far nicer than I expected. Upon entering the front desk located on the left side connecting it to the sidewinder staircase , and to the concierge located directly across from it. In the lobby theres a lit fireplace; one on each floor. Its my favorite part of the building. Im looking forward to spending some time here with my family.
Carlsbad Inn has been our dream family vacation from the time we had 5 little girls to now as retirees with visiting children. The amazing views of the ocean and the greens with fire pits, entertainment, music and drinks. Theres always an activity going on that you can attend if you choose. The staff makes you feel comfortable and goes the extra mile to be sure you have the time of your life. Everyone is friendly and efficient. The Carlsbad Inn is more beautiful now then it was in 1988 when we first bought! What a beautiful gift to pass down to our children.
A very nice place to stay. Its just across the street from the beach. Walking distance to many restaurants. A 5 minute drive to Legpland and 35 minutes to Sea World. Weve also been to the weekly farmers market and the Carlsbad Street Fair.Weve stayed here both in summer and in winter and have enjoyed it every time. The rooms are nice and clean and functional. We particularly like the two bedroom suite with a kitchen. Its convenient for a family with kids like us. The kitchen has an electric range and an electric oven. Also, an over the range microwave and a good size refrigerator.
Fun place to stay. Be prepared to be extremely frustrated because the people at the front desk checking you in cannot speak English. Plus the plexiglass at the front desk inhibits verbal communication. Absolutely the best location in Carlsbad. Clean rooms. Comfortable Center, Court. Very private.
Check in and check out was a real pain. I waited 15 minutes for the only elevator on the day we checked in. Check out is 11 am, we went to breakfast on the day we checked out and got back to the room at 10:25 am. The maids we already cleaning the room. They had moved our travel mugs to their carts and emptied the ice and refrigerator. E had to ask them to leave the room when we got back. Very unprofessional and a bad way to end a nice week.
Was really excited to come stay again, as this was the place my husband & I spent our first week together, 7 years ago. We are locals from the Vista area, and booked a one-night stay on Friday 4/16 for my 30th birthday & the baby-moon of our first child. The room was really nice and clean, which was a plus. The wifi kept cutting in and out for us. The hotel didnt offer any sort of food, although there were vending machines. The heated pool was really nice & my husband enjoyed the jacuzzi. However, the construction put a damper on the views of the ocean from the resort. The biggest disappointment of the stay was the late check-out time. Because we were just spending one night, I requested a late check-out so we were able to enjoy the pool once more before leaving the next day. I was told the late check-out time was 11:30AM, which was unfortunate, as the regular check out time is 11AM, so there was no extra time really given. For the nightly price listed, I expected a bit more amenities (perhaps a breakfast option, water in the room, etc.) as well as a reasonably extended late-check out option.
Not recommended for a resort stay until at least June, when construction is finished. Fine for casual traveller now but with few perks except reasonable room prices. Needs room service. Not every business man in town for a meeting has the wherewithal, patience and resourcefulness to find a place that delivers if one checks in after 7pm. Just saying.
We visit at least once a year. The location is fantastic. The rooms we’ve been in have wonderful views and the beds are very comfortable. It’s easy to control the room temperatures, we love the full kitchens, and the staff are very helpful. Located close to good dining and lots of shops. A great place to feel safe, enjoy the beach, and relax.
Overall, the resort is a wonderful place to stay. But, as an owner, Im extremely disappointed that, after four years of trying to persuade you, there are still no EV charging stations on the property. Yes, you do have two 110 outlets in the parking garage but they are not designated for EV charging so my only alternative is to stalk the one space I can use (the other is designated for the Employee of the Month) and hope I can snag it for the 12 hours it takes to charge on a 110 source (a normal charge station takes just 2 hours). Adding fuel to the fire, when I called before coming to ask if anything had changed, your receptionist said unapologetically, No, and referred me a charge station down the street where I could burn 2 hours of my vacation waiting for a charge. No thank you! You just finished a major remodel that included the parking garage. Youd think that 2-3 EV chargers (@~$600/each) would not have been that big a deal!
We were very bummed with the level of construction. We were not told about the jacuzzi closure until after we booked which was the day before arrival. The pool was very cold and we were told it was heated. When we went to our room we were told we would have beach towels, we did not. We had to walk back and get them from the activity center. When we went to go to bed the sheets were DIRTY. We had to call to have them changed. They had food and confetti and glitter. Absolutely disgusting. Very very disappointed. Also you should let people know if they stay they will be stuck inside because the dust and dirt was so bad we couldn’t even go on the patio or open the door.
If you are planning to work remotely from here, please don’t.The wifi was slow, there wasn’t a microwave in my room, no thermostat to control the temperature in the room, vending machine was defective, gym was closed. They also didn’t say that they were going under construction on the website. However, I would say the service was amazing, everyone was lovely. I think the building just needs a lot of changes though.
I have been visiting this resort almost yearly with my parents since I was 6 years old and now bring my own children. The amenities cant be beaten from the close restaurants, downtown village, to the gym and free beach toys. The beach is literally a 5 minute walk even with little ones. Bonus is in the timeshares you have full kitchens with everything you need.
Always a blast coming to this beautiful amazing resort every year. Family friendly environment with tons of activities for the entire family. Always so clean and well kept and the staff is amazing. Claudia R. the house keeper for this years trip(July/2020) was super sweet and followed pandemic cleaning procedures so well, I could eat off the bathroom floor and not worry about getting sick. Highly recommend this gorgeous property for an amazing week or weekend get away.
Homeless family is currently using all amenities . Apparently a family member owns or she owns and she is using day use. She has very sick children and continues to take them near others. She has set up a camp near the Oaks Fireplace with cans of food, laptop, blankets and a rolling suitcase. We are staying away for her and her children due to Covid19 and the Variant. Stay away. Management is aware and turns their heads. We have been owners for 18 years and ours concerns have been told to and no action taken,
Very nice Trip! Stayed her 6 days. There is always stuff to do, games, special events, coffee, beach, fire pits, big lawn with chairs, swimming pool, jacuzzi, gymn, snacks, ect. I like the root beer float event on thursday and the movie night on wednesday. I am very happy with my stay and am planning to come next year
We love our timeshare here we have several weeks through the year and enjoy each time we come, they have finished the construction which took two years but was totally worth the wait . Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Carlsbad as it is one of the best little costal towns in the area.
We were SO satisfied with everything about our stay here!!! From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out I have no complaints. The room was perfect, from what I could tell it seemed like it was an older property but that the management takes pride in keeping it updated and maintained! The upgrades were done nicely, no quick fixes or anything cheap, and we had everything we needed! The staff were so helpful and friendly! It’s SO close to the beach, we could walk down whenever we wanted, we could see the sunset from the courtyard of the resort and our balcony too. The jacuzzi was so nice that it was adults only, I appreciate those rules being enforced! The pool was closed for remodel but between the beach and jacuzzi we had no issues, I believe there were pools available to us at their sister hotels but we didn’t even need them. There was SO much to explore nearby, breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night snacks, bar/brewery and tons of little gift shop type areas! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking, we travel often and have stayed in 5 star resorts and I would come back to this resort in a heartbeat! The only negative was parking was a little tight in the spaces so we did get a pretty bad ding on our rental but after that we just parked further away from the elevator where it wasn’t as crowded and we had no issues after that. I would recommend Daily news cafe, Cafe Elyse and Jays, all right across the street within walking distance with great food!
Weve stayed here 5 or 6 times. Love the location and the staff is nice. However, the noise levels are very high. This noise comes from carts being moved in the halls, the elevator, and to a lesser extent your fellow guests. There seems to be a minimal amount of soundproofing and the windows seem to be a pane too thin. If you are an early riser its fine, but otherwise plan on being woken early and often. We probably arent going back with so many other options.
Great resort!!!!Good place to have a small get away or a family vacation. The patio is a great place to relax and stare out at the ocean, they have a few fire pits where you can sit and relax. Beach is only a few steps away making it a great place to stay!!! We have taken a lot of vacations and this by far has been our best place to go!!! There is not one disappointment when you stay here. This time we went they were remodeling the pool and a few other things so cant wait for our next trip and see whats new!!!Gotta say bay far this is the best staff ever!! Make you feel welcome from beginning to end!!
Great place to stay. Right in the heart of Carlsbad and the beach is feet away! Doing construction but wasnt a problem. Place is just getting a deserved facelift. Price was great. Room is VERY luxurious. Usually just a timeshare, but stay while you can for a great price.
I attempted to enjoy an early evening on a lounge chair in the courtyard. I was unable to find a lounge chair not because they were occupied but because they were being used as building blocks to stack high and used to build forts by kids. Besides the wear and tear on the patio furniture, they were also running around in circles screaming while doing this. Some of the young parents were either not there or participating. From my balcony, I also observed other folks trying to find a lounge chair but were forced to turn away. This happened almost every evening during my stay. I was going to notify the front desk but instead tried to make the best of it with my family.
I’ve been coming to Carlsbad since 1993 when I was 7. In my memory will always be this hotel on the corner of the most popular hangout by the beach. It’s a fixture in the community so I’m glad we were able to try it out.The building has the feeling of a cozy beach cottage. Everything is made of wood that has been carved by the wind and salty air. Carlos, the front desk agent, greeted us and was warm in his exchange. We arrived early and had to wait till the appropriate check in time, 4. We didn’t like how the staff isn’t assertive in getting a room ready early. If it can’t be done then it can’t be done; for us there were talks of contact and communication in asking housekeeping to put a rush, but by then it was 230 pm. We’ll wait! The rooms are light with sand colored carpets and king beds that invite you to stay forever they’re so comfy! The staff, from maintenance to housekeeping two employees that I am not even sure what they did.. greeted us always. They said hi, or asked how our stay was. . This was AMAZING! Any questions or requests we had were met immediately, mostly because you’ll run into a friendly team member who will ask about your stay when you leave your room. Loved the friendliness.TV. 50 inch her. Comforter and bed, life-changingly comfortable, and marble flooring in the bathroom With a beautiful shower write it all together. There’s a large mirror in the room which made getting ready easy just in case the two sinks didn’t make it easy enough. with a beautiful shower write it all together. There’s a large mirror in the room which made getting ready easy just in case the two sinks didn’t make it easy enough.Pros: amazing staff, perfect rooms, next to the beachCons: pool closed temporarily, check in process was frustrating with the agent not wanting to tell us no so we felt strung along.
The visit at the timeshare was not relaxing but disappointing, especially with having to hear the PA system from Norte every 2-5 minutes. I can get this at home for free and could have saved myself the time, money and travel. A fast food eatery at the Carlsbad Inn ruins the calm and ambiance of a long awaited vacation that people are paying for.
The bed and pillows were super comfy! They have fun activities everyday and even had a smores kit to take back to your room on Friday night for guests.Unfortunately a couple of things were just not up to par. We were in the room closest to the street and even with all the doors closed the outside noise was intense. Also our Keurig was dirty and filled with coffee grounds; even after I spent 15 minutes cleaning it it was still unusable. BUT we let the front desk know and they did replace it while we are out for the day and so we were able to make coffee our second day. We appreciated that. They are in the midst of a construction project for remodeling and that was absolutely no issue during our stay but if they are concentrating on updating they may want to spruce up the rooms as well.We may stay again, we may not. They elude to the fact that they were just steps from the beach when actually they are still across the street and through a line of houses to get there. Just a heads up.
The pool area is in remodel and could not be used. The rooms are nice and maintained. Nice grassy areas. The resort is cross the street from the beach. At check in, there is a big screen TV with a live view of the beach. Heart warming.Close to restaurants. There is one on site. Shopping not far.Staff friendly and helpful. Underground parking.Lots of families taking vacation here.4 stars, because the pool remodel cuts off paths in the middle of the resort. Should be completed shortly.
Had the pleasure of staying 4 days at this resort community while some work was being done to our home.We had a great time. Our 1 bedroom condo was modern and clean. The staff made the stay very enjoyable as they were tremendous. Right on the beach in Carlsbad, my wife and I enjoyed nightly sunset walks on the beach. Well definitely be back.
Pros: Excellent location across the street from the beach and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. No smoking anywhere inside or outside. They provided beach towels and had a small fridge in the room. The body and hair products werent overly smelly, which was awesome. The bed was comfortable. The grounds were nice with lots of attractive shrubs and flowers.Cons: Pretty noisy. Our room faced the street which was noisy, but even when we sat outside in the back, people were quite noisy. The hall noise was loud also, as there was a gap under the door, and we could hear everything going on in the hall - full-blown conversations. It was kind of uncomfortable. We always travel with earplugs for sleeping and definitely needed them!
We were at the Carlsbad Resort late June and had the most wonderful room! Whisper quiet air conditioning, totally family friendly and just wonderful. We wanted to come again (last week) and all I requested was a third floor so we could take advantage of the balcony. On the second floor there is a solid partial wall and the only want to see over it is to sit on hard wood bar chairs. So that was our request. I was sent to two different sites to secure this and each site did not even know what I was talking about. So we took our chances and just requested what we would like to have.Well, our room (#137) was so bad - first the air conditioning was so loud and this loud clap as the compressor would turn on/off was so disturbing. So we ran the fan 24/7 to avoid that sound. This certainly did not add to a calm experience. Then EVERY plumbing issue, be a toilette, a shower, a faucet ran through our place like a waterfall. The whole experience was just terrible. And then there is the view. We were street side and our balcony - even on the most perfect day - one could not see over the wall nor even enjoy relaxing with a coffee and the paper. So, for us - no - this is NOT the place. We were scouting for something for a month next summer and this will certainly not be it. If we could at least be guaranteed something more suitable and relaxing, we would have. What bothered me is within days, there were so many empty spaces that would have been so nice. Why didnt reception offer that to us? To be able to move in a few days?
The grounds are pretty. Rooms are okay...big but felt like their price and additional resort fee were too much for what you get. Much better deal if you are a timeshare owner. Also rediculous they want you to wear a paper bracelet while there as if its an all inclusive. It used to be great. The location is excellent.
Wife and I stayed for our honeymoon back in October of 2018. Loved our stay. Neither of us had been to Carlsbad but you can walk to the shops and restaurants and it’s really a nice little area. We thought the Mexican restaurant at the resort was just okay but was nice to sit out and have chips and salsa with a drink. Best feature to the hotel in our option was the little courtyard (which has fire pits, a pool, hot tub, and plenty of places to lounge or sit). That and an easy walk through a gate, down the stairs and across a tiny street to the beach was great as well. Our room had a courtyard view with a tiny balcony (2nd floor). Only minor complaint regarding the room was we were able to hear some noise (kids running around) one night as our bedroom was by the door. Besides that our room was what we wanted: Spacious and comfy but nothing overboard or strange. Overall we just loved the feel of the whole place. And location is perfectly distanced between the beach and downtown Carlsbad which is why I picked it. We had free bike access too which was a cool plus.
Great getaway place for the family. Rentals are spacious and you can take advantage of the equipment rentals and gym. The beach is just a stroll away. The properties are a blend of hotel rooms and condominiums. They also have a great quiet fireplace area to hang out. It’s definitely not a place to stay if you are looking for a wild party. My family loved it and we’ll be back.
I had an incredible experience from the moment I was first in contact with the resort to the moment of our check out! Carlos on the Reservation Line was extremely helpful and provided incredible customer service! It was a pleasure speaking with him and helping us set up our reservation. The location of this resort cannot be beat! Amazing restaurants and bars all around and beach access at the foot of the resort! The lawn and gardens provide an amazing view of the ocean!!! Saw a dolphin swim by on our last day of our stay. Just truly magical! Looking forward to coming back after the minor construction is finished!
We traded our timeshare week for this location. Yes, there is a disclaimer regarding construction, but nothing to indicate the extent of the construction. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary AND hoping for some quiet relaxation. Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort was not that place. We contacted the location to request a room with a balcony and view. Our view was the demolished pool and courtyard. When asked to be moved, we were told they could not accommodate any moves until that night, if at all. We awoke to the lovely sounds of tractors, saws and yelling construction crew. We forfeited our week and moved to the Hyatt Regency on Mission Bay.Be aware that the description construction in no way represents the extent of what is going on. Im sure, once done, it will be lovely. However, if you are seeking a relaxing resort, Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is not it.
We have been coming here for over 30 years. Its a smaller resort, but in a great location. Take the steps down and cross the street, another few flights of stairs and youre on the beach. The beach has changed over time... becoming more steep (dont know why). Still a nice beach. The resort has a heated pool and a pair of jacuzzis, one adult only. The grounds have gotten upgraded over the years, and keep up with modern style. Same with the rooms, well kept, and modernized. For the kids there is a ping pong table, bicycles and beach gear rental for free. The restaurants nearby are great. Over the years Ive seen some come and go, but they are all excellent. This resort is at the end of a street full of food and shopping, all within easy walking distance. You will have an incredible experience here as a family... there is something to do for everyone. I would give this resort 5 stars, but for 30 years they still have the slow moving elevators that gets under my skin. I guess its like that for a reason. Overall good place and good times.
We love Carlsbad inn . Somewhat disappointed in a few things this year.No actives at all, we know there was covid but there could still be some activities with social distance and masks. We pay our maintain fees and get 0 actives and gym hours shortened . Also , some of the employees were short , meaning somewhat rude . Never experienced that before here .
This was a nice hotel across from the ocean. The rooms were normal. They were clean and attractive, nothing spectacular but at least above average! Initially we were placed in a room overlooking the parking lot. After asking for a move, she didnt hesitate. Our room had a partial view of the ocean and it overlooked the swimming pool.I want to try something different next time that I am there as the ocean is basically unapproachable from the hotel due to unstable cliffs. The ocean breeze was lovely. The cost of breakfast was almost $20.00 a person. I am sure that it was delicious but that seemed steep!
We have stayed here several times - twice a month just about. Front desk staff is severely disappointing... they either can’t process a simple task (maybe their system is to blame?) but their customer service has failed them beyond anything. We have watched it take a dive over the last 5 years. Disappointing.
A lot of construction. I think the big turn off was asking for an hour extra for check out and the employee saying they can’t. It was on a Tuesday. They said they would have to charge $25 for every 1/2 hour past checkout time. No exceptions. That was crazy considering we paid full price to be. Around a lot of construction noise and mess. Location was great but wasn’t to impressed with staff
Randy and his team at this resort truly are a hospitable group. From Vincent at the front with a friendly smile, to Yolanda whos always ready to help, and to the wonderful cleaning staff; we always feel welcomed at our home away from home. We have been regulars at this resort for the last decade and are always eager to come back several times a year. I think this says a lot since there millions of resorts in sunny California. The feel here is comfortable, cozy and relaxing. The beach vibes are evident from your rooms and the views. The resort is situated in the center of the village. No need to drive anywhere, you are footsteps within reach of all that Carlsbad has to offer. We are excited about the pool renovation and cant wait for our stay in May. (And maybe a quick trip in between)
Room 154 is right on the street. Street noise is awful if you want to relax and it only stops a few hours in the night. Gardeners making noise, kids screaming in the hallways. Person above us was stomping around at all hours starting at 3 AM. I was also bitten by a spider or something in my sleep and it was extremely painful. They could not move us to another room, didnt call the person above us to tell him to cut the noise and they never offered anything to make up for all of the problems. In addition I dont think the room was cleaned very well because we found an Apple watch and a pair of slippers when we checked in.
This resort that I have been an owner of for 30 years cancelled my reservation on the same day, they moved me to the sister resort and put me in the worst room possible, my family and I are on separate floors, Im facing the street, this is unacceptable and Im probably going to dump my ownership, I have never been treated so poorly after spending my hard earned money on a resort. Im beside myself with grief.
Staff was fantastic, so helpful when our reservation was messed up. They upgraded our room and it was a wonderful stay. Lots of amenities including beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, bikes to name a few. They have new release dvds to rent for free and players on the rooms. Mexican restaurant is delicious and has great happy hour, breakfast restaurant also delicious. So much shopping and eating within walking distance. You never have to move your car. We love Carlsbad and have never stayed here before but now we will be back soon as we can. It’s really a beautiful, relaxing and wonderful property.
Room was good. Staff was great. Love being able to check out beach gear (chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, and kids shovels and pails) down at ther beach. It was great with kids and not worrying about having to haul that stuff back and forth. Right next to down town area so easy walk for food and entertainment. This is our second stay and wont be our last.
Our room has been newly remodeled but smelled musty. Reported to front desk who had someone bring an air freshener that required a base which was not provided and couldn’t be found in the room. Covid19 face mask requirements were not being enforced. We didn’t even stay the night and checked out immediately. We are original owners and have been coming for decades. Very disappointing.
Nice resort with lots of fun activities, room decor was functional but dressers, cabinets, and kitchen equipment was low quality. Our dresser drawers wouldnt stay closed and the kitchen cabinets with the waste containers looked about to fall apart. Overall the room was comfortable, good air conditioning in the unseasonable warm weather and friendly staff who were all very helpful. The front desk personnel happily provided ideas for places to go near the resort and the room staff were thorough and quick when we needed cleaning and supplies. It was convenient to be able to walk across the street to the beach and the outdoor area with the fire pits and activity center was the highlight of the trip. Would recommend this resort with the advice of bring your own kitchen equipment.
Place is lovely. Nice staff. Kinda disappointed with the current construction going on but the upper floor room change was pretty swell. Overall it is a delightful place to stay. Tons of local shops and food options. The beach is literally steps away too so thats a PLUS!!
Nice hotel on the beach in Carlsbad. Clean and well kept. Nice bathrooms and good quality toiletries well stocked. Very eco friendly hotel with lots of activities. This is definitely a place for families and older crowd, not so much for business. They charge a resort fee that was an extra 22$ per day that was explained to me when I booked the rooms on hotel tonight app. Great location in Carlsbad with some nice restaurants nearby.
We had a great time at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. Everyone was very nice, helpful and welcoming. Our room was comfortable, clean and had a great view. There was plenty of closet and drawer space for clothes. Every day something was planned for the guests if you wanted to participate ~ which is great for families. Right across the street there are plenty of great restaurants and shops and more, all within walking distance. There is underground parking so unloading the car in rainy weather ( yes,CA. had rain) is great. There is a great little kitchen if you decided to cook. It has most everything youd need. The beds are very comfortable as well as the sofa and lounge chair in the living room. There is WiFi available. Have fun!
The condo suite was great & so is the resort but on labor day the pool and jacuzzi was filled with so many kids. Beach is close by but was overcast and a bit cold so pool seemed like a good option until you saw how crowded it was. They had outside music & hot dogs & at night it was nice to chill around the fire places they have
This resort has a beautiful location and the grounds are lovely. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. The suite is on the small side but certainly functional. We like to make breakfast in our room each day and the pans provided were not non stick, so we did end up buying an omelet pan to use, but that was our only complaint.
The Carlsbad inn resort is a great place for families. The staff is very accommodating and responsive. The rooms are kept clean. The building is dated but it still works. There standard rooms, suites a d condos. We talked with some people from different places and they told us that they visit every year. They visit families or ha e reunions at the Inn. There are many activities. There is live music, arts and crafts for all ages. The Inn is centrally located. You can literally park you vehicle and not see it again until your stay is over.If you visit, make sure to read the details. They have time shares at the Inn and you could be moved from one room to another. They dont hide that fact. You are 100 steps from the beach and it is real nice. Miles of it for your enjoyment. But if you dont want to deal with a bunch of screaming babies, go during off season.
There is a big gap on bottom of door, hall lights are bright, I hate light when Im sleeping. It shines pretty bright in room. Shutter doors to the patio will not stay closed. I had to use my makeup bag to keep closed. The hotel is clean, friendly easy access to everything. I really enjoyed myself other than the not serious room issues. Cleaning staff was helpful, friendly. I would visit again.
The rooms are nice and the location is fantastic. Its right next to the beach and centrally located. The cleaning staff has been hit or miss as far as friendliness. The continental breakfast a complete joke though. It consists of crappy little second rate pastries and a limited selection of unripe fruit. No protein at all and for some reason they keep the beverages on a different floor.
I have never had a worse experience. The room I reserved was under construction so I was put in another room with no balcony and small windows. When I went back to the front desk to ask about a balcony she argued with me and told me the balcony was behind the blinds. When I went back a second time to let her know there absolutely was no balcony, I was told that I wouldnt be charged a cancellation fee if I found accommodations elsewhere. The customer service was terrible. We checked out two days early.
Staff friendly and helpful! Great location for beach access! Hotel needs upgrades, for instance-bathroom had huge jacuzzi tub but no separate shower. I am tall but had difficulty getting in and out of tub/shower! We knew hotel pool area was under construction but we paid extra for ocean view. Sadly loud music from nearby cafe prevented us from enjoying outdoor balcony. Construction noise was not a problem because we stayed during holiday weekend ( Veterans Day)! Didn’t offer discount for Veterans😥Overall, think it would be great for families due to activities listed on calendar of events within hotel resort and underground was convenient!
Extremely happy with our stay!! Clean rooms, tons of amenities, ocean view. Beach is steps away. Great shopping, variety of places to eat. Literally the best vacation spot I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying!! There’s trees that drop stuff on your car and it’s a pain to clean, but who cares when you’re here..by the water in the friendly beautiful town of Carlsbad
No amenities! Using the Covid-19 debacle to reduce the standard amenities for a class resort is disingenuous at the least. No Q tips, little coffee, no bottled water, etc, yet your standard pricing prevails. I have been coming to Carlsbad for over 30 years, and I can afford to stay at a house on the beach if that is my choice. My choice of CBI for stays of less than 7 days has been based on your services over these many years. THAT will be re-evaluated moving forward. Really now...hassles over a few real coffee packets, you can have two, but then they are $1 each? I did feign surprise (went over the staffs heads) and stated, may I have five packets for $5? I was sent two; the five never materialized. Quite comical!
The hotel itself was very nice. The location between freeway and railroad was misleading I felt. When I was charged a resort fee of 20 dollars per night, I felt a little cheated but when I was able to get 3 beach chairs(In good condition) and 6 beach towels at no cost, I felt much better. The suite was very nice and the whole staff was friendly and courteous. Hot buffet breakfast and cookies and milk in the evening were very nice touches. I will go again. WITH A DISCOUNT.
We paid a lot of money for what we thought was a beach resort. But we found this less like a resort and more like a basic hotel on the main street of Carlsbad. Our room was not too far from the lobby from which we heard plenty of lobby noise late in the evening and early in the morning. One should also avoid the street side because of the loud street noise. We could also hear the guests staying above us as they walked around their room. And the grounds crew even ran their leaf blower just below our window at 8am on Sunday. It is also is not on the beach. One must leave the property, cross a street, and take a pathway between other residences to enjoy the beach. We expected more for $300+ per night. It is a nice place, but the guest should now what to expect for their money - it is neither a beach property nor a resort.
My husband and I stayed here during our wedding week, and all of our wedding guests RAVED about the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. Youre steps from the beach, the view is to die for, and theres also a pool and a gym, covered parking, and many beach amenities. Its such a family friendly place, and the staff went over and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and enjoying our stay. The hotel even sent us up a bottle of champagne to congratulate us on our marriage, which we didnt expect at all, so it was such a sweet surprise! We were so sad to leave and wish we could have stayed longer. Now we know where well have to go to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Thank you Carlsbad Inn!!
We have stayed at this resort in the past but never after Labor Day, in summertime they have the beach chairs & umbrellas on the sand for guests but after Labor Day that service is not offered. it was a Big problem to carry chairs down to the beach and although we like the hotel otherwise we would not return in that time frame; also housekeeping was not great, we had to go ask for shampoo and body wash. They need to have the chairs and umbrellas on the sand, very important !!
This is Dr. Douglas and Sheila Reich who has 2 week 39 week units planned for last week. Due to a medical emergency we had to bank one of our weeks. The other was used by our grandchildren Christian and Aubrey Booth who came all the way from Washington State and are also week 39 owners. Because they have a one year old, we made a request through both GPX and the Carlsbad Inn to have a pack and play and high chair in the unit and if they could have a unit on the second or third level it would be better for the baby. All requests were affirmed two months in advance, again a month in advance, and a week in advance. Unfortunately, when we arrived on Saturday (a day before check-in), the front desk said they didnt know anything about it and that they wouldnt do any of our requests. Very poor customer relations. Needless to say, there was no pack and play, no highchair, and they were given the dustiest room on the bottom floor for our one-year-old great grand son to breath in the fumes. We are concerned as to why we were told we would have these things when there was apparently no intention to provide them at all. We were also assured early on that most of the construction would be completed and that there would be a pool, hot tub, and a place to lounge in the center of the property. When we arrived there was no available pool, no hot tub, and no place to lounge; and no apology given, just thats how it is here. Needless to say, we are very disappointed. We believe that some ort of compensation would be in order. Anyway, that was our experience at the Carlsbad Inn.
Rv campground, was ok , wont do it again , at 8:01 I was told to turn off generator and it is the time, I am handicapped and was trying to turn off generator and instead of being polite to a customer they were nasty and let alone no masks were worn when they approached me as I thought that was California guideline for businesses , not sure , not from Cali.
Wonderful place for family vacation. The resort has an enclosed courtyard that kids can run around in and easily be watched. Great family swimming pool. Very close to the beach with a well stocked facility to borrow boogie boards, chairs, sand toys and umbrellas. Many great restaurants at any price point within walking distance. A park your car and not move it kind of place. We’ve been going for 25 years. If you want to buy a timeshare week there, buy 2, you can probably loan one to friends or family who will want to join you, it’s that good.
We have owned here at Carlsbad since 1987. We love thesetting---location, staff, managements mission statement, bestpractices now and before the pandemic. The activities that are providedprior to Covid have always been outstanding. Now with Covidrestrictions in place the area in Carlsbad and nearby cities support adelightful opportunity to experience a wide variety of acceptableactivities and events. So glad we can call this our get-away HOME!M.C.
We have been coming to this resort for as long as I can remember, the staff is incredible and they make it a point to always have kid friendly games and events everyday! They are across from the beach and you also have access to beach rentals for your stay (complimentary!) which makes it easy not having to carry chairs and umbrella and sand toys too far. If there was more stars I would add more, cant recommend enough!
It was very nice, although we were just guest of a timeshare person we had a nice time, the unit was very clean, the office and attendents were nice and prompt when we requested towels or whatever, the only bummer well there was two first one was you had to make an appointment to use the spa and the second one was they are in the middle of construction theyre waterproofing the place and doing some things which is a little inconvenient but there is no good time they cant do it during the winter because it rains too much although there was no noise from the construction to speak of everything had plastic on it in the courtyard but once theyre done its going to be beautiful, theyre adding another spa and some fire rings and some I want to say... Greenway so it will be really nice when theyre done.
Location is great, however the hotel leaves lot to be deserved in terms of service and ameneties. They dont have breakfast available - I am not talking about complementary. Even the coffee is very bad.We have stayed in a lot of beachfront resorts across the country, they are known for good customer service, this is an exception in a negative way.
Having stayed here many times I can say this is the best side experience in Carlsbad. The staff is always extremely welcoming and accommodating. The lobby provides computers, water and snacks. Outside there is often live music that you can watch fireside. The pool is also very nice. An extremely convenient location in Carlsbad with its own beach access.
What a great hotel and resort. Right across from the ocean. Rooms are spacious and emaculent. Clean and always neat. Staff works extra hard to cater to your every need. Pool is clean and always refreshing. Beach walks are super. Centrally located to many attractions. Happy Trails
We had a lovely stay at the Carlsbad Inn, friendly and quick check in staff, lovely ocean hotel.Only thing I would ask of them is to consider having food and beverages, it could use a nice bar with bar snack type food, also keep the fire pits on longer than 11pm as most people enjoy looking up and being cozy.
Thankfully we only spent one sleepless night here. Beds were as hard as a rock and we had to listen to almost 2 hours of some man screaming outside the room on the main street (which our room faced) during the middle of the night. The construction made it difficult to tell what the normal vibe of the Inn might be with a pool and less scaffolding. Proximity to the beach and village was good.If you like a very firm bed, this place is for you. Just make sure to book a room away from the street noise.
Nice place for relaxation, a great place to sit in the jacuzzi or pool as well as a nice place for staying by the fire and watching the sunset go down. The facilities and place is super clean, well taken care of and the staff is good at keeping only guest within their grounds. People are friendly here and the beach means theres great weather most of the year. Best part is this location is literally downtown. You have everything you would want within walking distance whether it be a nice local eatery, the beach is a few min walk away or even if youre in the mood to visit a farmers market, they have some during the week. Suns out buns out, bring sunblock and grab the guitar and jam on the beach. Catch some Rays, make people smile and laugh, this city and area is a great safe place to relax as well as have fun. Come check it out!
We have been coming here for 20 years and have always loved the friendliness of the staff. Today our 5 year old tripped and split her chin open. We were surprised how helpful the staff was. When we returned back to our room after a quick visit to the hospital for stitches, we noticed balloons and a gift basket on out kitchen table. We werent surprised to see that it was from the Carlsbad Inn crew because that is how they treat us every year and that is why we keep coming back.Great job staff at CBI!
Weve been coming here for years as a time share owner. Nice, not 5 star, but really nice. If you have kids I would say its definitely 5 star. They have free bikes and boogie boards and stuff like that for guest use. Real close to the beach and an easy walk to lots of places to eat. The staff is awesome from the housekeepers to the front desk and management. Highly recommended.
We spent early mornings and evenings walking the incredible beach. The Coaster down and back to and from Sea World, the Gas Lamp District and the Zoo were incredible experiences. We drove twice to the San Diego Zoo Safari Preserve. What unbelievable gifts. We walked to the end of the Oceanside Pier. Great food and watching the surfers gave us goosebumps in a good way. There is never enough time to do everything we want to do. Thank you Carlsbad Inn for letting us rest so comfortably!
The website advertised that construction on the pool would not begin until March of 2020. I stayed from February 6-8th and the pool was completely ripped out of the ground already and I got to listen to construction noise all day long. The walls are paper thin and you can hear people stomping on top of you and walking at any point in the hallway. The room I had was facing a safety light as well and the door shutters were broken and hardly kept the light out at all. This was worse than motel 6s Ive stayed at and you should be ashamed to call yourself a resort.
Important note:---------------------------From San Diego Airport there is taxi transportation to the Inn. BUTWarning: no transportation from Carlsbad town or the Inn going toSan Diego Airport,( the reason I only gave four stars) except a limo or car service minimum charge $120 one way. No Uber no taxis no shuttles no buses no trains no trolleys no rickshaws no boats no burros travel from CB to the airport. The Inn or the merchants of Carlsbad should collaborate on a airport shuttle service.-------------------Review of Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort ( and timeshares) ---Stayed here mid week for two nights in February of 20/20.Staff is very good very helpful.-Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.- Mattress is nice, comfortable.-Bathroom is updated functional aesthetic and clean.-The street noise is loud until about 11pm.Certainly Spring Break and holiday weekends will extend the noise until late night.- the Carlsbad Inn has a really nice rear yard with great views towards the Pacific sunset and with numerous gas fire pits surrounded by comfortable furniture. Fun social spot!- pool and pool area were being rebuilt while I was there. It looks like its going to be very very nice when its finished.- The location of the Inn is great for walking anywhere in the village.-EASY walk to the beach is short, quiet, one block &flat .The beach is very nice clean and beautiful.warning: the Carlsbad Beach does not seem to have handicapped access. The steps from the street to the beach might be a problem for some people.-Nearby restaurants vary in quality. From mediocre to pretty good. Many are more focused on the bar/nightlife crowd than on the food. We liked Señor Grubby the best.- the Inn does not have a restaurant or a bar. There are a host of decent cafes, bars(many), restaurants within walking distance, but the Inn would benefit from having at least a small café or breakfast & snack items downstairs in the lounging area near the big coffee urn. They do offer coffee downstairs or in your room. The coffee in the room was not good, bit stale (my travel pal called it cat pixs)and the coffee maker janky.- YES I do absolutely recommend staying at this in if you are planning a trip to Carlsbad.
We had dinner during our vacation. Atmosphere was loud and the food mediocre. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was prepared okay. Prices were in line with other resort style restaurants in carlsbad. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu. He checked on us regularly and was courteous. I can only give 3 stars because of the overall experience was middle of the road at best. I should stick to more intimate restaurants because that style suits me. Others may like noise and a high pressure environment while they eat but I dont.
I was charged a $200 smoking fee and I did NOT smoke in my room or anywhere in the building. I’m a non smoker and the lady who I talked to in the phone did not even try to make it right. She told me she could charge me more. I’m baffled because I spent a lot of money to stay there I was respectful while staying there and then charged a smoking fee. Im sure you guys got the wrong hotel number. Not satisfied and will never return to your facility.
Stayed at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort for a week and absolutely loved this place! Stone’s throw away from the beach and beautiful downtown. Our suite was lavish and modern with a private bedroom, kitchen, living room and all the entertainment amenities such as cable tv, free WiFi, etc. couch in living room folded out to a queen size bed for the kids. Close to everything fun in Carlsbad (walking distance) and view from balcony was amazing. The lobby, lounge and pool area are gorgeous as well.
Beach Resort all around its very relaxing its a beautiful place right in front of the ocean everything from downtown attractions restaurants Farmers Market trains and buses are all in walking distance but all in all everything has a five-star all the way around. Just to be in front of the ocean looking out and just seeing that beautiful view priceless. Staff and accommodations work great they deserve a five-star
Had a terrible experience with this hotel, (not resort) The room, that came to $318.90, was comparable to a motel 6 room. There was unusual wear and tear, a dirty bathroom, non functional room phone and the entry door had black handprints on it.The morning staff were extremely rude, and unprofessional. They offered me an extra 30 minutes late check out and exactly 30 minutes later housekeeping was banging on the door. I was yelling thru the door one moment! while the hotel was calling my cell phone, my hands full of luggage, trying to exit the room and THEN... the broken room phone started ringing and it didnt work when I set everything down to answer it. Im appalled really.Interestingly enough the only reason I booked a room here is I had a similar experience the same night at Grand Pacific Palisades in Carlsbad, which I now realize, is owned by the same company! I booked the room online, the room I was placed in had a broken entry door latch and the door was open (not latched). Upon entering I noticed the bed was unmade and there was a note pad with scribbling (childlike) on it sitting next to the bed. The room smelled like toxic plastic and wet/fresh paint. The entire building was under construction and supposedly being renovated. I immediately checked out and drove to the nearest place with availability. Unfortunately, Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. Two nights before this, I stayed at Pacific Terrace Beach Hotel near La Jolla right on the water with an ocean view, huge clean rooms, and all the amenities. For $100 less. The staff were very accommodating. The property is way more like a resort than either of the Grand Pacific Resort properties and they dont tout it as a resort, even though they offer loaner beach cruisers, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and more. Valet parking is also available. The bottom line is these two properties offered by Grand Pacific are being poorly managed and the rooms are more like $100 motel rooms. It would be wise to avoid either of these properties. Thank you for reading, Sean
Apparently their definition of a quiet room is one which is located in the main hall directly across from an ELEVATOR which is constantly being operated, and thin paned windows where you can be lulled to sleep by the soothing sounds of train horns passing by every 30 minutes. I also made my reservation online, which gives you an option to decide your desired check-in time; Dont be fooled by this. I made a call the night before to double check everything only to be told by a staff member that their typical check-in time is 4:00 pm.... Why a resort would have an option to let you choose a desired check-in time and not even honor it, much less not even communicate with a customer via phonecall or email that this wouldnt be accommodated is beyond me! What a sham of a business, and sad example of hospitality. Look elsewhere.
Nice place if you are a family with small children (we are empty nesters). We stayed on the first floor, you could hear children screaming in the hallway at all times, despite the signs asking for quiet the management put up (obviously those small children couldnt read:)). The small pool was full of kids too.Again, if you have small kids, this is the place for you. Great amenities for kids, great restaurants nearby.
We love this place - right in the heart of Carlsbad. Everything within walking distance - restaurants, bars, beach, train to south county - its all here. The Inn has very nicely sized rooms and the outside area is fabulous for cooler evenings with seating around large firepits. They also have a lot of activities for adults, families & kids. Great underground parking which was a nice surprise!
This place is amazing. My parents own a timeshare here ever since I was young, maybe around 10 or so. I am now 27. We come here every year to enjoy beach, sun, food, and time away from reality. Being in such close proximity to the beach you will never have to worry about not having something to do and being located off Carlsbad Village Drive there are lots of shops and restaurants to check out and enjoy. Walk south along the beach and take the beach path for a nice walk. Want to get a little exercise in? Aim for getting to the stacks down at tamarack. If you dont know what Im talking about you will when you get there. Besides all the great things around this place the facilities are very well kept; we look forward to seeing what is new each year. Yes they upgrade something every year do that shows how much they care about their visitors and facilities. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Each year we need something from the front desk and each year they are quick to have someone bring it to us in our room. If you read through this review I hope you choose to stay here. Great time and a great place to stay while in Southern California.
This is a awesome resort. Very well keept with great amenities. Our family has been coming here for over 20 years. Evey year this resort keeps getting better. It is perfectly located a short walk from the beach. Rates are worth the service and quality of the resort. I highly recommend staying here. Wont disappoint.
If you want to be within walking distance to the beach (across the street) or restaurants and shopping, Carlsbad Inn is the place to stay. I was there for a family event and was very happy with my choice of hotels. My son sent me 3 names of hotels in the area and I am so glad I selected Carlsbad Inn. The hotel is undergoing renovation and that did not interfere with my time there. There are activities to do throughout the day and my daughter did partake in the Chair massage which she said was wonderful! We also enjoyed the Bon Voyage Party on the lawn with live music and free wine.We had breakfast at the Daily News Cafe next door and enjoyed shopping in the village shops. I totally intend to make another reservation for the near future.
The hotel was great after a long day at Legoland. About 10 minutes away, near the beach. Beautifully decorated. We needed a 2 beds room, but they were sold out, however they provided a free rollaway bed for us. Room was comfortable and clean. We were near the elevator on the first floor, so it was a little loud. The bathroom was outdated, could really use an upgrade. We were surprised it was a standing shower only, would have been nice to have a tub for our 2 little kids (4 & 1). The water pressure was weak too.Overall, it was a nice place to stay. Many restaurants walking distance. We would stay again.
Nice family friendly grounds. Need to comment about a review that stated the ocean is unapproachable due to unstable cliffs. That is totally and completely incorrect. There are multiple concrete staircases down to the beach. The most popular public stair case is under construction spring 2018 but the staircase across the street from the cbad beach inn is open and easily navigated down to the beach and ocean.
Staff was kind and spirited. They had small events each day of the week for guests. One night we played bingo. Beach was steps away. The inn had nice fire pits, cloth chairs to lay out on, pool, gym and hot tub. There were so many amazing restaurants just a few minutes walk away. The location could not have been any better. My fiancé and I didn’t use them, but there were bikes you could rent for free as well as beach chairs and sand toys.
The noise and inconvenience with the walkways. The front desk did not give us directions on how to find our room so we went up the wrong wing.Big waste of our time. We needed towels, called the front desk. 3 hours later the towels showed up. Substandard to Coronado Beach Resort!

2022-05-30Room was very nice, well maintained and clean. Every staff member we met smiled and said hello at the least. The staff were all very friendly, even the maintenance guy (doppelganger for Willie Nelson) who had to switch out our dishwasher and did so quickly with no evidence hed even been in the room. Used the free bikes, enjoyed the treats in the pool area and the live music. The welcome breakfast was great as were the smores and bingo. All the other guests were friendly and happy. The adult only (bonus) hot tub was open til 11.Staff are rewarded when guests fill in a comment card with their name. A great idea! Just takes a minute. We did several!A great find where we would definitely stay again if we can get in. We were sad to be leaving 😔

2022-04-07This is a beautiful resort located steps from the beach. I’ve visited many times because my friend has a timeshare there. The rooms are spacious and there is always something going on out on the big lawn. There’s also a playground for the kids tucked away at the south side of the property. Gorgeous views, relaxing vibes. A must visit.

2022-05-11I had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful. There was entertainment provided. The apartments had new and beautiful furniture. The staff was friendly, efficient, and ready to offer any kind of assistance. Having the ocean right there is certainly a beautiful advantage too.

2022-06-03This hotel is easily within walking distance to the beach. We could see the ocean from our balcony! The rooms were clean and the service was incredibly friendly and always ready to assist. Although they didnt have a breakfast at this hotel, they did offer ice water, hot tea, and coffee throughout day. The weekly schedule of events that they gave us upon arrival was a welcome addition to our trip. We will definetely be coming back here.

2022-01-25Excellent resort. I love the live music, the pool and the jacuzzi. The location is perfect also. Steps from the beach and walking distance to downtown Carlsbad eateries, wineries and coffee shops. the Farmers Market is fun as well. The staff is amazing, helpful and friendly except for one woman who is out of place. AVOID the middle aged European blond woman. She is not helpful and a bit arrogant. If you can find a way to avoid her your stay will be perfect. This is a great place to stay. Would definitely stay there again.

2022-04-12Great experience at the Carlsbad Inn. We had a group staying for a wedding. The amenities were amazing. From bicycles to boogie boards. It was beautiful and the perfect location. Corey was amazing to work with regarding our block of rooms. Look forward to staying again.

2022-04-04Although the front desk staff could work on their customer service everything else was perfect. Clean rooms, beautiful views and a stones skip away from a clean beach. Onsite dining, fire pits, lounge areas and an adults only hot tub definitely helped justify the price. Will definitely return!

2022-03-29We had a beautiful weekend thanks to Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. The rooms were impeccable and the location is absolutely perfect. So much to do around and inside the resort. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We will definitely be returning visitors

2022-05-13Positive: We liked its proximity to the beach & the village. We were pleased to arrive early & get a room (#150) on the first floor. Im a Vietnam vet & battle injuries hamper my ability to walk - so I appreciated the 1st floor accomodation. Negative: The refrigerator still contained food from a previous tenant. No movie channels available. (HBO, STARZ, etc) The hotel had a very limited number of activities. Nothing offered for Mothers Day. The so-called breakfast was sparse/with very limited menu
