This park was beautiful! My boyfriend has talked about his bucketlist and seeing Redwood trees was on the list. I searched for a place that had them and i found this place, Redwood Grove. It was amazing being there. Any nature lovers out there i definitely recommend coming here and seeing these amazing giants. These are babies compared to the ones up the coast but they were just as awesome. Theres benches in between the trees where you can sit and admire their beauty. We’re definitely coming back❤️
New to this park! But need to remind people that the butterfly park is on Lot F!! I personally was a bit nervous with rattlesnake signs everywhere, but glad no encounter when we were there. Only red ants.. lol. Its good that they warn you of poison oaks.. Dont touch it! You could find lake, shelters, horses, rabbits, geese, birds, etc. Need to return there earlier time of the day. Next visit well check out the oaks and the dam. Yes, you need to pay to enter (parking), start from $3 - $30 (buses). Weekend $5 for normal car. Nice...
A great big park for picnicking, sports, fishing, meditating, wildlife viewing, biking, hiking and taking a leisurely stroll through the ‘woods!I really like urban escaping here to a more natural, quieter environment than most local parks. And as large as this park is, it never seems to get too crowded! There’s designated areas for group gatherings, some with requiring reservations.Fishing is possible at the small lake for those who are licensed. I’ve noticed people fishing from the shore or off the small piers, extended over the water a few feet. There’s designated areas for just about every kind of group sports, including baseball, volleyball and soccer, as well as the availability of tennis courts.Inside the main park, users can access everything via paved pathways. Restrooms are located all around the park.As a hiker, I’ve enjoyed going along the surrounding trails for short hikes. Natural dirt and bark pathways are par for the course(s) there. There’s no restrooms available along those paths. There’s the long Creek Trail along the south side of the park, the namesake of which is dry much of the year. There’s also trails that loop to the Carbon Canyon Dam and around to and thru the Redwood Grove. Except for the ‘Grove with its canopy cover, these trails are open space trails, so sun protection should be considered!I’m particularly fond of the Redwood Grove, shown on Google Maps and posted park maps. This is a rare grove of large trees for Southern California. Good for taking a meditative stroll thru the forrest!Kudos to Mario, Richard and crew for a landscaping and maintenance job well done!
The best part of this park are the Redwoods. Its the only successful non-native Redwood grove in Southern California. OC Parks regularly waters them to keep them alive, and maintains thick mulch around the base of these cherished Redwoods to keep them moist. Theres even mushrooms growing in the mulch! They planted them in a shady part of Carbon Canyon, which helps. But Yorba Linda is otherwise very dry. It feels about 20 degrees cooler among the Redwoods here than in the rest of Yorba Linda. And the evergreen scent smells so refreshing. Reminds me of being in the Redwood forests of Mendocino County or Big Sur.
Loved this place. A short easy trail walk to the Redwoods cluster which is gorgeous 😍. Then back to the park area. Kids loved the lake, ducks and of course the playgrounds. 3 different ones for different size ranges open. The newest for the older kids is currently fenced off for continued construction of it. The swing selection is fun and accommodates differently abled. 🥰 many different climables and ride ons that even the parents can share in.
Gorgeous place, can not see it all in one day! They do charge to get in but its a great park with lots of open space, table seating and play grounds for the kids. They have path ways to walk around the park and for the most part very well taken care of! I havent seen it all but so far for what I have seen its awesome!
Best kept secrets in O C. Easy to hike, and lots of free parking. Beautiful location, and very quiet. A must place to visit,if you want to enjoy the redwoods with out the drive. This trail takes you into Chino State Park. Most dogs are on leash,no strollers,or many bikes. More of a tranquil place. I have seen photo shoot, but for the most part, never more then 2 or 3 people. Again, very friendly, clean, quiet and beautiful place.
Nice and beautiful place to bike and hike, and picnic, Family sport, friend gather up for a whole relaxing day. Very big park and have tennis court and hiking trial. We love to go to the wet pond to see little tadpole. Watching the water going down quick, hope those little frogs can survive. Overall is a great park to explore. Last weekend it was so crowded.
I peaked in the window if the nature center (they close at 2 Sat. and Sun.). Looks like a great place to get info. on the flora and fauna of the area. Theres a huge red tailed hawk (stuffed) on the counter and a cougar and Bob cat.You can also rent a room there for parties or meetings. I mountain biked up Telegraph Trail to 4 Corners. There were some tough climbs for me, but boy was that FUN riding down!!! We saw a dad with 3 kids (5-10 yrs. old) who made it that far as well! I cant wait to come back and try it again!
Very clean and well kept park in a beautiful canyon with hiking and biking trails all around the area. Hit the like if this review helps you.Watch out for hotdog size land mines left on the grass near the lakes - left there by the geese. The playground equipment is really great with separate structures for each different age group and nice long slides.
We went hiking this morning. My 2 year old was able to walk this entire trail. Mostly flat ground so great for beginner hikers or anyone ready to just get out and be with nature. We enjoyed our time. One thing I would of appreciated most is if the porta potties were open for use. There are few along the trail which is pretty neat and could be very helpful. One thing that stood out was how clean these trails were. I dont recall seeing any trash or wrappers along the path and there is a trash can. This area seems to be very looked after which is wonderful.
A quick Pros & Cons list to help you in your visit;Pros:1. Ample parking for everyone (paid $3-$5)2. A huge green grassy area for everyone to play!3. Numerous HUGE shade trees to gather under.4. A nice size pond with ducks around.5. The grove of Redwood trees to see!6. Plenty of hiking trails with signs.7. A beautiful park to visit, but HOT!Cons:1. Its HOT! So check the weather, and prepare.2. The hiking trails are very dusty. In some areas, almost like talcum powder. Be prepared for that sweaty body, and those sweaty legs to get all dirty ...hahaha. The only trail that isnt dusty is the small portion within the Redwood grove itself, as its covered with mulch.
This park has a very cool pond, and a big playground for the kids to play in. There’s a great area for hiking, and taking photos. The Park is on the smaller side, but a great place to take your kids out. The only downside is that it cost 5$ to get in and they charge a reentry fee.
Carbon canyon regional park is in my top 5 places to fly my DJI Phantom 4s, now that says Alot! Very nice well kept up park, very relaxing to fly my Phantom there. Nice lake and playground area for kids, you can also go mountain biking from there. You do have to pay to get in, M--F $3, and weekends I believe its $5. And can you believe they have a redwood tree grove, here at Carbon Canyon!
Beautiful place to relax and maybe takes special photos for special eventes like XV or weadings. It has trails to walk and hike. The parking cost is only $3.00. It has clean bathrooms and clean lake. You can fish there but I ignore about the requisits for fishings. You must contact personal of the park. The most amaizing adventure is to rich to the Red Woods and learn about them. Children always enjoy the hiking and come back home so relaxed and calm. I really recomed this place for an adventure but go prepared with enogh water to drink to avoid isolation. When you rich to the Red Wood, they have fontains but it si better to go prepared especially if you are bringing small kids and pets. Also bring hats and be prepared to walk. Also be causious with coyotes and montain lions. There are signs warning hikers about them so always keep small kids and pets close to you and be preared on what to do in case you enconter one of them. What mostly we have encontered is coyote and we just not show ourselves afraid and we make noise to scare them. Show yourself stronger then them but always with respect to the fauna. Hope you enjoy the place as we have.
Great place to go picnic with friends, family, and even other occasion use. A place for fishing, barbeque and play sports. Tons of tables and chairs a convenient play, clean public restroom, even a place to take pictorial. Great for toddlers to adult, different play area for kids, area is clean and park ranger on site. A small entrance fee, but worth it.
This is a formally developed huge sprawling park just about a mile or two in from the entrance to Carbon Canyon. They have lots of covered structures for family parties, a beautiful little lake, plenty of shady trees, playground structures for children etc. There is an entrance fee for cars.
Beautiful park. Attended a Cross Country Invitational. Not alot of parking, but when the lots are full there is paid parking right at the trails. Was only $5 for the day.Plenty of benched/gazebos, playground lots of tennis courts. Overall a nice place to spend the day.
Place was great, plenty of shade all over the place. Plenty of restrooms strategically placed. Also, it doesnt get too packed even on weekends. And its connected to Chino Hills State Park so there are countless miles of trails for hiking. Not to mention Southern Californias largest Redwood Grove, home to 300 individual trees, is just a 15 minute hike from the parking lot. All around a great park, 5 dollars for parking is worth it. And 3 dollars on weekdays.
Chino Hills State Park section by the Discovery Center was used to host a memorial service for Douglas Dale. The building could be rented for @$250.00 and it was the perfect spot!! Tables, chairs, little kitchen area and a screen. It was a beautiful sendoff for a long time Carbon Canyon resident.
Awesome little park, gets surprisingly busy early in the morning. Weve been taking our daughter here to run around and get some fresh air during the current climate. Theres a neat-o little lake as well, occupied by some territorial geese lol. As long as you dont mess with them, youll enjoy this park.
Lots of picnic tables, a variety of trees, squirrels, geese and grassy areas to hang out on. And nice clean tennis courts too. There is a sidewalk around almost if not the whole perimeter of the park or you can walk on a dirt trail. A great place to get away from the city and be around nature.
We attended a birthday party and it was a hot day but the sheds you can reserve were great and most spots had trees as well. It has lots of playgrounds and sheds. The lake was a nice touch. You can get great pics as well. Too bad I had my phone die before I could take some.
Fantastic playgrounds for the kiddos, as long as its not too hot, since none of them are shaded. Good BBQ/picnic areas, and plenty of geese, coots, ducks, and egrets. Also great for the kids, if theyre into that sort of thing. One of our go-to spots for the playgrounds, particularly if you have the OC annual pass.
The main park is well-kept. But the real draw is the short hike to the redwood grove. There are 241 sequoias here, providing a nice, shady place to relax. The Grove is uncommon in Southern California and definitely non-native, but nice nevertheless. The trees are much younger and shorter than the native groves in the Sierras. Quite a novelty.
Good park, but there’s too much poop from the animals from the lake. What’s really great here is the hiking, since this park is known for hiking, but when walking around the main park and picnicking here, it seems like there’s too much poop from geese, dogs, and other animals, and they’re mostly on grass.
This is a fantastic park. Ive been here for family reunions, parties, and for family photos. Beautiful park with lots of space for biking, hiking and enjoying the lake. You MUST visit the small redwood forest on your visit. Its an easy flat 10 min. walk to get there (about 20 min. round trip).
This is the only grove of Red Giants in Orange County and its located in the city of Brea. Trail is capricious—-so stay on the dirt while keeping a watchful eye for snakes. Rangers are caring and alert/available to park patrons requests.Mountain bikers frequent this trail along with joggers so be alert. Trail is flat and restrooms are nearby. You will need to pay for parking or buy OC Parks Pass (definitely worth it) and this includes use of playground, lake, access to wild animals geese, squirrels and goslings.Cool trails here. Do note temperature is crisp in the redwood grove (bring a light jacket). Geese looked healthy---viewed waddling to the lake.Park Ranger helped remedy a natural crisis involving a hummingbird baby. 🙏🏻
What a cool park! Its a 3 dollar entrance but it is worth it to have so many things you can take advantage of. From biking/walking trails, duck pond, lots of space to be socially distance, to multiple playgrounds and tennis courts there is just so much you can do. Lots of trees for shade and lots of tables to sit at. Surprised I have lived in socal my whole life and havent been there till today. Look forward to going again soon
The small pond/lake was clean. The small groups of people were well distanced and respectful. The park was also well maintained with a minimum of litter. The public restrooms were open.Lots of shade. Lots of picnic tables in the shade. Lots of parking (remember its Covid season.)Worth every penny of the $5 Day Fee.
Not much of a hike buts its convenience and redwoods make it nice. The park/lake adds more options but the hike itself isnt anything to remember. its a 4 star park, with meh hike bonus. Parking seems adequate but never been during peak times.warning: proximity factor probably playing too much a role in my assessment.
The park is wide enough to accommodate visitors. There are trails, tennis courts, playgrounds in the park so lots of things for friends and families to do here. My favorite part is the red wood area. The red woods are tall and provide cool shades. Definitely not something common in SoCal.
Went straight to the redwoods beautiful small area of them not the giant ones we usually think of but a nice, calm, peaceful area to go to. Beautiful park area as well well kept up area as the landscaping was out working. no trash around.Probably the nicest bathrooms Ive seen for a park.Just a beautiful pleasant area to go to with the lake and ducks .Parking... You can pay or park up the hill neighborhood instead of going into the parkDistance /miles .. can get a two mile or one mile walk in depending on direction you take in the park. Ask at the entrance for a map and directions.
This is a really pretty park with multiple playgrounds, parking lots, and barbecue areas. Everything was kept clean and there are lots of trees with a nice open like to watch the ducks swim.Great for nature walks and trail exercising with cool poles and how- to boards for each stop. I will definitely be returning with lots of friends and might even take up as they have multiple courts to practice at
I have come here a few times after finding out that there were some Redwoods that werent at the Fullerton Arboretum within Orange County. I was excited because i love Redwood trees. Coming into here, I began expecting alot because of how closed off and in the hills this park was, and was indeed not disappointed.Parking here is around $3 or $5 on the weekends I believe. If you want to avoid paying, you can park a little further in the neighborhood, which was really far in my experience. I prefer parking inside now and donating some of my hard earned cash towards the maintenance of California Regional Parks. The contents of the park is magnificent. Theres a small lake or a big pond in the park with docks on either side which makes for great meditation. There tennis courts to the east of the park, Picnic areas and benches scattered, a beach volleyball court at the entrance to the trails, playgrounds, and a dam that sits somewhat close to the Redwoods that makes a for a nice hike and beautiful views. All and all, this place is such an Orange County gem and by far one of my favorite regional parks within the county. Whether you want to go for a leisurely stroll, taking the kids out for some fresh air, or coming here for an intense hike. This park has it all.
On March 30, 2021, I arrived at the park for lunch with my son on our motorcycles. The woman at the gate was very disrespectful. After paying the full amount to enter she lifted the gate and we began to enter. She then yelled at us to stop and then said to us are you serious? I guess we did not get our tickets. If she wasnt ready for us to enter then she shouldnt have opened the gate. Also while we were having lunch the gardener came by blowing leaves and dust at us while we were eating. I love the park but the staff is awful.
My kids love this park. It’s local for us so we go for a lot of different activities... playground (there’s like 5), fish in lake, go on redwood “hike”. There’s also tennis courts, though we haven’t used them yet. Nice shaded grass areas. The only complaint is in the summer there’s not really any shade on the playground structures so go early morning or late
From a fishing standpoint, I was slightly disappointed. With the tail end of the bass spawn approaching, I was expecting to be able to fish the residual beds, and the late spawning fish. However, I was greeted by hunks of algae, and lake scum. No matter if the rig was weedless, or a Texas rigged worm, I would receive a lure covered in muck. Other than this, the park is gorgeous. Unique, diverse sets of trees cast their shadows across the many paths, perfect for midday family strolls. There are many shaded areas of which to sit at and enjoy a meal, as well as bountiful restroom access. If looking for a local OC fishing spot, look again. If looking for a great park to spend a day doing anything BUT fishing, look no further.
As parks go, this is one of the best in all of Orange County. Great for events or a couple hours at the park. Theres a large lake with fishing allowed, multiple playgrounds for kids, sand play areas, and a number of shades picnic areas (some which can be reserved in advance). One thing our group loved was the water faucet attached to the drinking fountain. Useful for washing off sandy feet or filling up buckets/water bottles.Parking/entrance fee is $5.00. I was pleased with the upkeep of the park and noticed park staff coming around to take care of emptying trashcans, etc.
Limited parking if there are a lot of people. Also, costs $5 to get in, at least by vehicle. I reckon you could walk or bike in for free. Its a huge park with plenty of dirt trails. I was here for a college cross country meet. There are places to have picnics here and plenty of areas for children to play in. You can mountain bike here, too. Oh, and theres a good-sized pond here, as well.

2022-01-14Lovely park there is an artificial lake that is stocked for fishing, a nice playground, tennis courts and short trails. The area is slowly healing from the fires but still looks beautiful. The main attraction is the redwood grove they have two trails to get there one is shorter. Definitely worth the walk.

2022-01-18Walked back to the redwood forest they were beautiful...was surprised people walk all the way back there to take family pictures. Its great but take the short path to the right when you enter the park and park at the end of the lake to see the trees. Lots of room to relax. Some unique sights, butterfly area, pretty birds very nice!!

2021-08-04Carbon Canyon Regional Park is a great place to spend the day, or to have a large family gathering. We did the Redwoods Grove trail, which was very easy, and is only 1.5 miles long. It was great to both see and smell the giant trees. This is such a hidden gem, and as there are picnic tables, a wonderful spot for a picnic. Much of the hike was in the sun, but still fun. There is even a dam along the way. The entrance fee is $3, and worth it. We parked by the trail head, which was a dirt lot, but other lots around the park were asphalt. There are shelters, with BBQ pits, which should be reserved ahead of time on the OC Parks website. Fishing is allowed in the pond for those interested. There are tennis courts, volleyball courts, baseball field, bicycling/bike trails, equestrian trails, walking paths, restrooms, and an awesome playground. The six massive slides were one of the main reasons we chose to come to this place. Dogs are allowed, but should be kept on a leash. I’m most assuredly going to plan a family get-together here, and I’m looking forward to another enjoyable experience.

2022-02-13Very nice park - lots of shaded areas and benches. Also, decent size lake and lots of grass area. Very pretty sunsets over the water, and the filters arent so strong that they move the water, so it often looks like glass.

2022-06-13Interesting park in Brea, near Chino Hills. Part of the park is the typical neighborhood park with kids swing, slides, and overwatered lawns. Part of the park has a very nice native garden, well tended, labelled, and comprehensive. Yet another part has, to my knowledge the only coastal Redwoods grove in Southern California. Well worth the trek in the hot Sun, to feel to cool sombering peace of the Red giants. The park is also the western gateway into Chino Hills State Park, well worth exploring in the Spring with full wildflower bloom to re-inforce the names from the native garden. 😉

2021-08-16Hiking trail here is refreshing. The hiking trail is located in the innermost park lot of the park. Went on a little exploring around the park, very nice area for dogs. There is also a lake in the middle of the park. Both hiking trail were great, but I would suggest the redwood trail, the redwood area is refreshing and filled with wildlife and damp air. Definitely a place for a family trip.

2021-07-06Took my brother and mother on this very easy hike at the park. The park has picnic tables, trash cans, benches, grills, and restrooms throughout. We paid $3 for parking. I saw 3 playgrounds for the kiddos, tennis court and a pond. Saw a few people fishing. There are a few trails and are super easy. Lots of parking.

2022-04-09Great mountain biking for all ages. Loop rides and out and back rides. All trails and other apps assist with navigation throughout.Update rode telegraph to 4 corners and south ridge. Great loop with single track and double most areas.
