Coffe cup is filled plenty, food wasnt too expensive, and I didnt die of food poisoning. Pretty much what you expect from an American Cafe joint. The chicken and waffles was good, but you only get a few small chicken tenders and the waffle is a thin style crunchy style. Not the big fluffy Belgium style waffle I was expecting.Good service and friendly staff means I will visit again and try something else.
Fast in, fast out, good wholesome food and a waitress that knew what she was doing. Our first day in the area we went to another place with higher ratings and ended up waiting for a table and had less experienced staff. This was much better for a no hassle family morning breakfast!
This is my first time eating in this diner and I loved the old school atmosphere. The waitress was really nice and very attending to my girlfriend and I which made the experience even better. We both ordered Omelettes, I had the canyon omelette and my girlfriend had the veggie omelette and they were wonderful! It was exactly what we wanted. We also had the country potatoes and they were also very good. Way better than Dennys and we will for sure be coming back since we live around the corner and want them stay afloat after this pandemic!
This is the second bad experience I had here. First time I went there I ordered fish and chips, the fish was dry and flavorless. Not a single bit of flavor. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe this was just a bad day... I was wrong. I went back today and decided to order something different. I went with the Biscuits and Gravy and my mom ordered the Salsbury Steak. Both my moms food and mine were dry. Im not big into complaining so I let it go and decided to post a review instead. My mom on the other hand... She had to let the lady know what was wrong. She politely said the meat was very rubbery and dry and asked if she can order something else instead. The waitress began to argue back with my mom and said it isnt dry its just a burger patty, it cant be dry Both the customer service and food was awful. I will not be going back here and I hope yall save your money.
Nice for being a diner. Couldnt get a fair assessment since I got there 2 minutes before closing. Their hours on Monday and Tuesday are only till 4:00pm. So dinner was not available. Service was good, food ok. I got the fish and chip. It was hot and fast but it was your standard frozen fish. Fries were good. I would like to try their dinner. That part of the menu had some comfort food more geared toward a diner.
This restaurant is my preferable site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I I need a proper lunchon, this is the place that comes straightaway to my mind. extremely good and many types of food and a rich menu.professional staff, and nice mood. Also important, the cost is good. I praise this restaurant with no doubt.
Good decaf served here. Food is plenteous and affordable. Service is friendly and attentive. We had a delicious (albeit very late) Saturday brunch well after the crowd left. Place was quiet with a few tables. This used to be an A&W Drive-In back in the day - the drive in area now serves as shady covered parking.
We had a nice stack of pancakes for Mothers day breakfast, which is exactly what mom wanted. They were very busy, but that did not effect our great service. The cooks here were awesome and served us generous portions.I have been a patron of Canyon Cafe for many years. I always get the best food and service that anyone could ask for.All American food like you used to get in the 50s and 60s, the omletes are really good, actually I have never ordered anything that wasnt good.Always go for their specials of you dont know what you want, they are usually incredible and the prices are low to moderate.I will definitely be there again soon.
Average, nothing special, but filled the hungry spot. Hubs happy to see Tapatio hot sauce, and he never complains about fish and chips, just saying it was more like fish sticks. My soup might have been homemade or canned - couldnt tell, but it was okay. My salad was disappointing because it was nearly all the bitter white part of iceberg lettuce. Considering were in CA, home of great greens, I was a disappointed east coast visitor. Very reasonable prices, very quick. Older building, not quaint. Nice staff. Looked like regular customers seated at the bar for lunch. Its all in what youre looking for.
A good mom and pop style cafe. The waitress amd cook seemed to know everyone by name. The portions were generous and quality was decent. No real special items that stood out but seemed like a good diner for friends and family. Although I dont believe it could handle large groups.
It was a simple order expecting fresh strawberry because the menu says “Fresh Strawberry .” My order came out and it was old looking strawberry sauce. It looked so unappetizing that I didnt even want to eat it. On top of the order not being what was stated on the menu, the server made a mistake with which bread went with which order. This wouldn’t have been an issue, but she corrected it by using her bare hands to switch the breads. She was nice enough to bring a new waffle with just banana but then proceeded to cut it at the table again using her bare hands. Overall everyone in our group wasn’t satisfied and the food is not very good. If I could give less than one star I would.
Excellent food in a traditional old time cafe. The interior could use a sprucing up but you wont even notice when you are enjoying the food! We came for breakfast and were surprised at the quality and portion sizes. Trisha was our wait staff and she treated us very well. This appeared to be a locals favorite as most were welcomed upon entry and addressed by their first names.
Beware!! This place is not the Mexican food stop people keep confusing it with! The 4-5 star reviews on here are for a different spot!! Canyon Cafe is terrible. We have tried both breakfast and dinner here and its all really, really, really bad. Breakfast food was mostly burned or under cooked. Sausage gravy was basically just flour and milk. Biscuits had been microwaved for sure. Chicken fried steak was the worst Ive ever tried... Seriously... The worst. Im including frozen TV dinners in that and theirs was still worse. The fact that it was almost 14 bucks is insane. It wasnt worth 5. I would take a Swanson TV dinner over that trash any day and Im being nice. AVOID!
Chicken fried steak was a thin and piece of something. There was equal amounts of flour as meat. Hashbrowns were only fried on one side and mushy and the toast was burnt. Waffle that we ordered might as well have been a pancake. Eggs were cooked to order and the sausages were good. Other than that, the food was subpar. As far as the wait staff and restaurant itself, it needs a good cleaning! Plates are stacked up all over behind the register station. Disorganized! Booth seat cushions are super tired. A coffee cup rack looked disgustingly molded. This place lives up to the title of Greasy Spoon.Wait staff is pleasant enough but not enough to overcome their other issues.I would unfortunately not recommend a friend to eat here. If you do, eat at your own risk!
I was a super fan of this place my family comes from oakland to eat here..but today was unacceptable!!!!!!! 😠 😠... 4 customers had hair in the food.. My meat which was pork was raw.. Grits crunchy..and the Asian waitress is always rude as hell which ruined the fathersdat breakfast.. She acted like was taking an order on the phone and it was me coming and calling at the same time.i called for 30kinutes answer.. But she really acted like she was talking to the customer and it was me.. I will no longer patronize this business again EVER.. THE other customers took pivs of the food and agreed to call the health inspectors... This is so sad..
One of the worst places to eat. Walked in the floor was so dirty it didnt look like the mopped in a week. I could see in the kitchen where Mel from Alice and that foreign guy on 2 broke girls were tending a not so clean grill. Took 15 minutes to get menus. Food was fast but when I got my breakfast there was lint from something on my toast. When I asked the obviously overworked server what it was she explained that they use rags to sop up the grease off the sausage(what). I didnt order sausage and. Why w as it on my toast. Then told me I could have what ever I wanted I politely said no thank you. Then miss overworked proceeded to barade me about finding a foreign substance in my food. Just then one of the people I was with.found lint in their food. I almost threw up in my mouth. No thanks Flo. The only thing missing from this establishment was someone smoking in the kitchen. CLEAN IT UP CANYON CAFE YOU GIVE GREASY SPOONS A BAD NAME. Health department please pay them a visit. They definitely need a lesson in food safety
Family oriented, pleasant and friendly environment, and place for American Diner Specialties, but will honor any food preparation, and not listed meals upon request. There is a regular crowd, as well as the occasional visiting individuals and families. So if your looking for a genuinely local place for regular folks, without any touristy ambience, and eat in a environment that truly compliments Napa Co., then I truly recommend Canyon Cafe.Where the locals go to be with regular people just like us...P.S. You may even come across a well known, or even famous celebrity as well escaping fame, and the paparazzi, keeping it real, just like us normal folks. It can and does happen more than you think... Just dont stare, and respect their space, and really, they are like the rest of us normal folks, so to speak...Peace, Slow down and take the time to enjoy a great meal
Picture a classic old-fashioned American diner straight from a David Lynch movie. The sort of place where eagle eyed waitresses call you hon when they ask to top off your still mostly-full decaf.Come here for a no frills, hearty meal. My personal recommendation is a Mexican omelette with hot links, burrito style, with country potatoes. And put down the Tabasco sauce--when they say hot, they mean HOT. You wont be disappointed.

2022-03-08Had a great experience at Canyon Cafe! Visited on Sun 11am, we were lucky to get a corner booth. Our server, Melissa, was very prompt and attentive. The biscuits and gravy were delicious, home made biscuits! This is a half order. The bacon was perfectly crispy/chewy, hash browns were perfect too. My family loved the pancakes, omelet and cheeseburger! Would come back again for sure!

2021-10-21We visited here multiple times because our hotel was right across the street (and the hotel had an outrageously priced grab and go burrito as it’s only option). Canyon was what you would expect from a diner. It was good portions, reasonably priced and decent food. Staff was friendly and kept the coffee full.

2022-06-15Delicious food and nice atmosphere! Definitely a hidden gem! We had a #2 combo plate (eggs, hash browns and pancakes) and a #2 plate (biscuits, gravy, sausage and eggs). Gravy was flavorful and delicious! Enjoyed the meal fully. Waitress was responsive and took good care of us! Thank you!

2021-10-17Solid breakfast place. It’s not fancy, but very friendly service and good food. The menu is largely breakfast, which is served all day, but there are sandwiches and burgers for lunch also. Reasonably priced.

2019-07-28I lived in Vallejo for over 20 years and never visited this hidden gem. Is rough looking from the outside and the area is truly a country style dinner. It you can get over that, ones you are inside you are in for an amazing experience with the sitting areas that is very spacious and nostalgic old school but well care for. Our host Kristen was very tentative to our needs and made great suggestion.Prices are fair for the size of your meals. We order classic burgers omelette and a special of the day pork chops that where amazing.I will come back to this dinner more often specially for their house potatoes, oh my delish!!!
