Has gotten a lot better since last year. Meat and veggies has been fresh, fruits and seafood are meh. Prices are cheaper than 99 ranch and 168. I come here mainly for fresh herbs when I am in the mood to make some vietnamese food. Great selection of sauces and ethnic stuffs (like bamboo leaves for chinese tamales and lotus leaves for lo main gai) that you wouldnt find in other places.
A good Asian market. Produce is pretty good and with competitive prices. Much of the produce and goods are Chinese and Vietnamese owing to the demographics of the majority of people who shop here. That said, their selection is generally very good. Staff is pretty friendly. Like all markets, bring your own bag unless you want to pay for plastic (dont buy plastic, folks!).
This is a review on their customer service. I really wanted to like this store. They have some nice products at decent prices. Since the store is located next to my gym, I figured I can drop by for a quick purchase. I went in 10 mins before the store was to close, hoping to pick up two items really quickly. The door didnt open when I walked up. I thought it was weird that it didnt open so I knocked on the door where the security guard was standing. I asked if the store was closed and all he did was smile and waved at me. I walked out and called the store because I really wanted to pick up my items. The woman on the phone told me they were in fact still open and that I needed to try walking back and forth for the door to open. I went up to the door and the door still hadnt opened. She looked at me from inside as I tried walking back and forth. The door finally opened when customers inside walked out. The lady on the phone was rude and condescending saying it was my fault and barked at me that I hadnt walk further back enough for the door to open. I asked them why they didnt bother to help me open the door by walking to the sensor. I got into a shouting match with the security guard over such a petty ordeal. Im sure they have customers come in perpetually late but I just wanted to pick up two items and be out before they close. I didnt expect their behaviours to be so rude and condescending. To have two people who work there just stand there and tell me that it was my fault that their door sensors werent working was beyond patronizing. I dont feel the customers are always right but I felt they didnt give a s*** for someone popping in ten minutes before closing.
They have a good variety of produce and a live seafood section. However, they dont have a standalone bakery section.They do charge 10 cents for each plastic bag so bring your own shopping bag. The cashiers can be unfriendly and they have not updated their credit card reader to read chips or recognize wireless mobile payment systems.On the plus side, prices are very competitive and they offer a large variety of alcoholic beverages.
Meat dept: good serviceEverywhere else in the market: crappy serviceBe sure to check expiration dates! The veggies arent all that great, but if youre good at choosing the right ones then you might be in luck. Prices arent high, but arent the cheapest. I go here from time to time because its convenient.
Well, first thing, the prices are compatitable with other similar stores. Second, the choices of different products are diversified. These are the pros of this store. For the cons, you get what you pay for and the cashiers are not so friendly, without any greeting or any other words.
I was at the market today with my 3 years old son. My shopping experience was really hectic because it was overcrowded and people were causing a lot of traffic in every aisle. I have to make all these turn and back up just to go around them. When I was at the meat department, people were cutting in front of me even when I took a number and I was waiting and customers were causing a dramatic scene to say they are first in line. I waited patiently and then I just told them what I want.I was so disappointed and so upset when I was waiting at the cashier line and the cashier lady by name of SUSAN was so rude. Shes crazy and mind full of bad intention. Evil is what I want to say about her.. When my son took one the decorated candy that has a monkey toy displayed on top of it, Susan demanded and said that she need me to put it back. I told her if she could wait until she finished ringing up and I pay for everything, that I will give it back to her. I explained that they toy will keep my son distracted.But instead, she demanded to have it back right away. She need to know that I was letting her know in advance about the toy. She didnt pay attention that my son grabbed one the candy toy. If I have the intention to steal the candy toy I wouldnt went ahead to let her know that my son had the toy. I put it back the way it was and my son started crying and then he tried to reached for the toy, which means he was trying to climb out of the cart. The lady gave me the impression as if she didnt care about my child safety. By then I was so frustrated that I almost caused my son to fall and then putting the blame on the cashier lady Susan because she wasnt listening when I told her that Im not going to walk out with toy. I will give it back once the transaction is done. As I was steering away from the cashier walking towards the exit door, I turned around and then I heard her talking about me and my child. she was gossiping about me and my child to another customer right in front of me. My heart was raising and I wanted to file a complaint about the cashier lady Susan. I would not tolerate this kind of behavior and anyone whos talking about my son. She said to the customer that if I cant handle the child then I shouldnt bring him along. Who is she to say anything. The fact that she talk behind my back was wrong already and she almost caused my son to fall off from the cart because of a stupid toy she demanded to have it back right away. I told the security and the assistant manager regards to this incident. They apologized for any inconvenience. I demand to speak to the store manager because she definitely need a write-up. They told me that the manager is not in and he will be in tomorrow. I hope she learns a lesson because being in the customer service field, if she cant handle people and shes not good with people skill and customer service, then she shouldnt even be working as a cashier. Thats my end of the story. I have to say I was completely upset and I could feel my heart raising when I was leaving. This is really wrong.
Nowadays, when plastic bags are no supplied by the grocery stores, naturally you most likely will walk in a supermarket with a back pack or some kind of a bag to hold your groceries. Today, when I walked in the Cali Mart with a string bag at my back with nothing inside but a USPS cardboard, the security thought that I might up to no good and wanted to take away my string bag. So I turned around and walked out the store with my wife. Ironically the security did not stopped her when she walked in with the same kind of string bag at her back. By doing so they gained nothing but bad store impression and lossing business.
My dad bought a glass bottle of honey, went home, open it and the SHOULDER is broken, my dads finger got cut.He then went back told them and they said because the manager is not in so they cannot do anything.Should I go back with my dad tomorrow again, or should I just report them or get a lawyer.
I always go here to buy other stuffed meat stuffing, but the fish is not clean. Every time I go home, I have to clean the scales and internal organs by myself It can be seen that the work is not serious when buying fish. It is recommended to buy the fish home. Carefully check the fish gills, fish intestines, fish scales, and clean up and rinse them again. I found the cooked fish gills are still inside twice.
There is two middle aged women that work in the cash registers. They didnt think I spoke Chinese but little did they know I did. They were gossiping behind peoples back talking about customer. I found it really rude and disrespectful. They one of They seemed to a manager prob the stem of all bad service. Zero-stars There were two middle-aged women at checkout at the front desk and nosy one seemed to be that the manager did not respect the guests and said the customer’s right and wrong service attitude was super bad. I gave 0-star
Today, I took my child to a California supermarket to buy something. When I saw the food that I could taste, there was a * man * selling dumplings. The daughter wanted to try one. But the * man * said that it must be picked up by the parents, and after the daughter told me, I was going to try it from him. As a result, I saw that he picked up the dumplings and ate them, and that he put the dumplings he just cooked in his lunch box, not on the plate that people taste ... ............ However, the difference is that an aunt sells noodles. The aunt is very polite to let the children taste it and ask if it is delicious. I recommend it to the parents to give me bad reviews. The reason is not that he did n’t eat dumplings, but that the man ’s approach was too irritating. He did n’t put it on the plate for customers to taste, but put it in his lunch box to eat it by himself. In that case, who would buy it? .......

2022-05-19Nice place to shop for meat. They have reasonable meat and vegetables prices comparing with other markets close to this area. If no time to go to 168/San Gabriel supermarket, it is a nice place to check it out.

2021-08-16I was a guest at hilton close by my wife wanted oysters i got some subway next to market went in to see if they might have some to surprise my wife i took picture of oysters to send to wife and employee from seafood / butcher dept walked in front of me blocking me from taking pics of oysters and in high angry voice said no pictures i told him why and he said why you ask why this was my first time in this type of market but just ended up feeling not wanted there i have video of what took place what a let down

2021-10-12The security is awful! When we entered the market, a guard asked my wife to open up her purse and yelled at her not to steal. She had not even entered the store! He let multiple other women in without another thought. Honestly so disappointing.

2021-03-09Lousy and rude cashier, filthy store & carts,tiny overcrowded parking lot, better prices than 99Ranch Market or Asia Market,staff is either non-existent or rude & unfriendly,I only brave this store for lower prices,produce is abysmally poor,meat & seafood selection is good,. however butchers service and attitude is poor. They do carry items not found in other Asian markets at lower prices which explains their superiority and rude attitude. I only go there when I need to.I would give this place ZERO stars, thus 1 star suffices.

2021-04-20I really would love to rate this market higher, but unfortunately the staff and the other customers seem to be prejudiced against non-Asians.I love the selection of products (This is literally the only place I’ve been able to find the Taiwan Beer Sweet Touch drink in flavors other than Lychee). The snacks and drinks are great and come with great prices, but every time I come here I get mistreated by the staff and other customers.I’ve been stared at, ignored, suspected of stealing and more. One time I came in with my parents and they were mistreated too.If you’re coming here as a Latin American, keep that in mind.
