The tires were so worn on the front that the car felt wobbly on the highway and the truck bed was dirty (Tacoma). this was my first time renting a pickup so maybe the truck beds are always dirty? but I was helping my daughter move and I had to clean the truck bed before using it--irritating for the price. the rental experience was fine, counter people polite, drop off was fast. no problems with the people I dealt with, all friendly and professional. but the front end of truck was way out of line? tires worn unevenly on front so felt unstable driving on highway and the truck was just dirty inside.
The pros: very nice staff. The con (and con is an appropriate word here): I booked through Costco for a set rate. That rate appeared on my paperwork at pickup, but somehow, the emailed invoice is for $20 more. Huh, thats convenient. Why have I never received a surprise $20 less invoice? So Now Ill have to futz around with customer service to get my money back. Ugh
The wait time to receive my car was an hour. The car I was assigned reeked of cigarette smoke and weed. The interior was not cleaned and even found plastic eating utensils still on the console. I was too exhausted to risk another long wait to exchange the car. Called “customer service” after two days to ask for an exchange as the smell was making me ill. Was sent to a location 45 miles away only to find out it was closed. Customer service was indifferent, return staff was indifferent. No apologies, no concern for my discomfort. My poor review was addressed by someone assuring me that Budget takes extra steps to assure quality and safety in their rentals. Again no empathy for my discomfort or poor quality of service I received.
We waited in line initially over an hour to get the vehicle. Upon pickup the vehicle was in need of service. The vehicle’s tags, as of Feb. 2022, were expired and when we expressed concern to an employee he told us not to worry that it was the company’s responsibility. We were concerned about being pulled over the entire trip. A park service ranger even brought it up to us.When we dropped off the car, the employee initially said that the paperwork showed it had been an accident. This makes me concerned that the vehicle was in an incident previously and had not been cleared for use. Our trip was accident free. We tried to tell the employee about the expired tags and that an oil change was needed. She was very short with us and told us that those things would be taken care of, but clearly the tags have been allowed to be expired since February. I asked for a receipt and she said it had already been emailed to me. As of three hours later there isn’t a receipt in my e-mail, including spam.
My mother in law wanted to travel so we made a family trip on the weekend. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advanced for a 6 passenger vehicle. When I arrived they said the only vehicle option they had was a minivan. Which was fine but I was confused on what’s the point of a reservation if the only vehicle option was a mini van. Not a happy customer at all. Budget never informed me that I had to pay anything to hold another specific vehicle. I would have had no problem paying to reserve another type of vehicle.I will never use them again until in the future.
I reserved a Tahoe go out of town for my son‘s 18th birthday and graduation day. I got there to get the Tahoe to go and they tell me they don’t have any cars. The staff was very nice she explained everything to me she apologize several times she was very helpful. Just don’t ever expect to get what you reserved when you reserve a car from budget. It messed up my whole plans I pretty much had to pay double because I had to Take two cars instead of one.
Budget car rental will charge your credit card $200 extra on a two-day rental to cover additional charges without advising or asking. Then, when I returned the vehicle with a completely full tank, they levied a fuel charge of $18.99. You will not even see a contract until you leave with the rented vehicle because their procedure is to email you the contract, after you have left. You have no opportunity to review the charges before you leave. When you return the car, there is no one there to provide you a final bill. You are instructed to just leave the keys and you are free to go. They email the final bill with additional charges and you have no real opportunity to contest them. Dont go with Budget.
This is the worst vehicle rental company on the entire planet. Extremely long lines for no other reason than poor planning and clueless staff. No one accompanied me to the vehicle for the industry standard vehicle check. I had to go find the car. When I did find it, it was filthy on the inside and out. Went back inside to get another vehicle only to be told I would have to get back in line. I requested a manager, waited 30min, no one came. I was then told there was no manager on duty and I should call customer service which is a joke. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS/BUDGET.
Catalina was great/wonderful. My flight was delayed for so long not only did I miss my pick up time, the rental place was closed. I was greeted with such a sweet smile and kind voice by Catalina. She got everything straightened out and i was off in less than a half hours. Kudos to a great representative at SMF.
Maybe Budget’s rates were too good that day? I waited in a line of 30 people at SMF. Took two full hours. Everyone was so mad. I had a wedding group waiting for me back at the terminal. And the 1or 2 agents didn’t seem to care. All the other rental companies had very few customers. I would have jumped ship if I could, but would have violated their cancellation policy. At least I got the car I wanted.
Horrible experience. A full hour waiting in line and then I was offered no option except a pickup truck - unless I wanted to pay for an upgrade. I am a handicapped 70 year old woman and I pointed out that I couldnt even get IN the truck. The agents only comment was Then you want to pay for the upgrade? I finally, with much distress, got to talk to Blake, a manager, who assured me that there would be no problem, got me a car, and drove it up to the door so I wouldnt have to walk to the end of the parking lot. Blake was great. Everyone else was just plain nasty. I also suggest you improve your relationship with your Sacramento airport employees. They were talking trash about Budget as an employer and as a rental company and using really foul language.
2 times in a row we reserved a vehicle at Sacramento airport, and after we had installed 3 child car seats, loaded our luggage, and strapped everyone in and started the car, immediately saw a warning on the dashboard that one tire was very low on air. Both times we were told that no mechanics were available and we had to take a different vehicle, and that there were no more of the type we reserved (minivan). There was also a warning message this time that an oil change was overdue, and that the key FOB battery was low. After a long day of traveling with 3 kids, and a 2 hour drive ahead of us, the extra time it took to re-do paperwork, unload luggage and car seats and reload the second vehicle was very frustrating. And the obvious lack of general maintenance is very disturbing from both an inconvenience perspective (if the car were to break down), and a safety perspective (if the low tire were to blowout on the highway). We plan to avoid Budget in the future even if we have to pay more to rent from a different company, as the inconvenience and safety issues are not worth saving a few dollars.
Have to say I was a bit nervous to rent from Budget given the negative reviews, but it worked out! My car was ready when I arrived and was very clean. My only complaint is that they only had one representative working at the counter with about a dozen people in line. The group in front of me seemed to be having a whole slew of issues so the check-in process took much longer than anticipated. Otherwise a positive experience and drop-off could not have been easier.
Waited a hour in line to pick up my car. Their was only 2 people ahead of me. Not something you want to deal with after 9 hours of flights. My rental was paid for with a company credit card and just noticed my personal card was charged as well. I wasn’t going to leave a review, but now that I’ve got to do a bunch of digging around to find out why I was double charged I’m so annoyed
I booked a specific vehicle for my number of passengers & bags, I arrived at the Sacramento Airport because I needed to pick up after hours for the usual location I go to...and was told the vehicle I rented wasnt available but Id get a car...no guarantee it would seat 5 or hold the number of bags I needed. The vehicle did seat 5 but was cramped and didnt accommodate our baggage well. The vehicle had not been cleaned...how I know... The vehicle had numbers and a × on the back window...so I knew this was the same vehicle that pulled in in front of my Lyft when I arrived...and those same numbers were on the back window when I got it. They just parked it and sprayed air freshener in it. I have used other budgets locations must say expected more from the Sacramento Airport one tho...also my final bill was $100. More then what it booked for...Not the the worst booking but not without flaws. 😐
Prechecked in for our rental pick up, still waited over 2 hours to get it. Ok I get it, short staff and little control over flow of inbound flights. The vehicle was dirty and had trash on the floor. Windows were full of smudges and outside was filthy. When I returned the vehicle, it was almost full. I had refilled the vehicle and when pulling into return lot, the gas gauge read full. These people said it had 8 out 23 gallons and then charged me the difference. My email to billing basically resulted in them telling me to bad. I did not get a gas receipt or picture of gas gauge because I didnt think theyd be ripping me off. Oh well buyer beware I guess.**Update** after being direct about my experience, I was credited for being over charged.
Be aware that the employees will give you misinformation on location hours. We arrived after hours due to our flight being delayed for 3 hrs. I called and made sure that the location would be waiting for us since both the employee that I spoke with said that they would. And...also their recording also states that as long as you enter your flight into your reservation that the employees would be there waiting. Well...we arrived at 130am and we were stranded. No one there, but the doors were open. We tried calling out for employees with no luck. Being completely exhausted, we had to pay $49 for a LYFT one way to get us to our hotel, only to take another LYFT back in the morning to pick up our rental car which we only had for about 22 hrs. I would appreciate someone calling me to discuss this! After renting from Budget over the past 7 years I would now reconsider!
Made a reservation weeks in advance, but they got busy and gave my vehicle away to someone else. They tried to make it better by giving me access to a filthy 12-passenger van that had the strong stench of cigarette smoke and the faint smell of urine. They were unapologetic and made me feel more like a nuisance then a customer. Very unsatisfied.
The worst car rental experience of my life. Took shuttle to check in and when we got to the representative he told us we should do fast break and go outside. So we gather our stuff to go outside where we proceed to wait about 30 minutes for this “faster” service. We ordered a booster seat for our son (which we paid $70 for) and they couldn’t figure that out. Meanwhile people in line behind us inside have already gotten vehicles and sped away. Finally they hand us keys and tell us to go find the vehicle and an employee will meet us with a booster. We found vehicle. A dirty, Kia Sportage. We ordered a midsized SUV. I will say this horrible car could not pass another vehicle to save its life let alone navigate hills in the Sierra Nevada’s. When the employees (two of them) arrive with the booster it was a full out car seat. My son has outgrown car seats. I tell them that won’t work and they barely understand what I’m saying due to language differences. Finally I track down another employee and tell her we see damage on the car and I want it noted. I ask her if they always rent filthy cars and she says nothing. The two jokers finally pull up with a booster and we are on our way.During the rental, we have a low tire pressure warning light go off. And we are constantly warned that there’s no wiper fluid for the filthy windows. Good to know Budget is renting vehicles that are checked and maintained. Especially when I paid $800. When we returned the vehicle, Mr. “has no idea what a child booster seat is” takes the keys. I told him I needed to tell him something intending to notify him of the warning lights that are on in vehicle. He says no. I said I can’t tell you something about the car? He said no. So I walked away thinking well then F off. The people who work there are incompetent and couldn’t care less. I feel fortunate that POS car didn’t break down while we had it.Never again Budget.
Shortly after picking up a Jeep Renegade at Sacramento airport (and about half way to Lake Tahoe), the car started making a loud squealing noise. When we arrived at our hotel, I immediately called Budget roadside assistance. (We were going to Yosemite and feared breaking down in the middle of nowhere) After being given the run-around to 2+ hours - I was told I would have to take it to the nearest Budget center (2 hrs, away) and switch it out . . . or they could have it towed and have another dropped off at the hotel AT MY EXPENSE ! ! Youve got to be kidding me ! ! We were forced to drive back to Reno to swap it out. ABSOLUTELY REDICULIOUS ! ! We received NO refund for the day of our vacation wasted arguing on the phone and driving 2 hours each way to replace their faulty vehicle. Horrible customer service ! First (and last) time I rent from Budget.
Worst experience at a rental car company. Waited over an hour in line and once we finally reached the counter, the power went off in the building so they were not able to finalize the reservation. None of the workers made any phone calls to ask for help and everyone just sat on their phones looking at Facebook saying “it doesn’t matter, we get off in an hour” while there’s dozens of customers waiting in line in the dark. There was a separate “fast break” building WITH power next door and they were refusing any customers that “weren’t fast break members.” Once we started verbally complaining that we need to finalize our reservations in that building since it’s the only one with power, they finally agreed to see customers.
Fastbreak is great, thier rates are great, and overall my go to. But what I will not use is the extra fee to drop off the car empty and then Only pay for the gas. Got charged over $110 on a car with a 10gal tank. Something isnt right with that. Something I am sure I missed in the fine print. Next time I will fill it up. That said this issue is true for all car rental agencies.
We both families had a pretty bad experience with Avis Budget car rental ! While Receiving staffs were pretty helpful and when our cars battery malfunctioned we were told to wait in a car whole day on June 20 2022 until tow away. Our Las Vegas family trip of two families was completely ruined by Avis Budget. I am still claiming $254 for extra luxury they charged even for the day we couldnt use their car and that days car rental for Two hours we did another car due to their poor and late response.Lets see Avis Budget will rerun our money or not ! Do not expect rapid service from Avis Budget if your car stuck somewhere ! I have caught my ears to hire any rental car for family trip ! Our two families and kids were still in sad by the behavior of Avis Budget responses!
I have now been charged twice for a prepaid rental due to the agents screw up. The vehicle offered wandered all over the road and drove terrible considering I own the same model vehicle i rented and dont have any of the issues. Rock chops that were in the windshield spread and the guy wanted to argue about charging me for it when I pointed them out at the start and spoke with 2 other Budget reps prior to returning. I was also pulled over for the cracked window which was caused from the prior rock chips in the car no other locations would swap me out. Car had a sour foul odor upon pick up but no other vehicles were available. Not to mention the 600+ dollar hold taken in addition to already prepaying for the vehicle when the original contract stated a 300 dollar hold may be taken. Now its up to 7 days for a refund of the second charge which I had to submit proof of despite the agent able to see it. I would never recommend budget after this ordeal and will likely never rent from this location again all previous times have been exceptionally well but this time was one nightmare after another i full heartedly regret renting this vehicle with budget and wish I had just paid extra for another company. Absolutely the worst experience ever with a car rental agency and I have previously worked for rental companies even having a vehicle with another company on rent for over a year.
It took 3 attempts to obtain a car during my trip to Sacramento. I wasted two hours renting and returning the first two cars (one had a check tire pressure alert that came on and the second had a maintenance light illuminate) before I was able to begin my trip with my daughter.
Friendly staff but there weren’t enough of them. So we had a long wait - over 30 mins - to get our car. And then it was the wrong one! I’d booked a Ford Mustang and I’d happily accept a similar car, like a Chevrolet Camero or Dodge Challenger. But then they tried to give me a VW Beetle on the grounds that it is “also a convertible”. They’re about as similar as a bumblebee and a shark. I refused and eventually a Mustang did appear.
Picked up a car on Sunday nightThey did not give me a copy of the rental agreement, the car has expired tabs, shakes and has strange sounds from the back. The guy at the counter was very rude. I have been renting from budget for over ten years and this was the worst service ever. Customer service was nonexistent told me to drive 60 miles each way to the airport. USELESS PEOPLE
Check your gas gauge before pulling out of the parking space. Our car only had a quarter tank of gas. Had to circle around to get them to note it on the receipt. But I still got charged $90+ and had to spend time with Customer Service on the phone after the trip. Lesson learned: get them to note all discrepancies on the receipt and reprint you a receipt. Also, check the trunk. We found a pair of cowboy boots in our trunks wheel well. Could have just as easily been a dead cowboy for all the checking they do when cars are returned.
Unprofessional, even cruel to a paraplegic man that flew from Florida to see his daughter graduate college. Staff treated this man as if he were an idiot and didnt matter. I hope theres a federal law that helps him sue you. I will never use budget after this inhumane treatment of a disabled person. They blamed him for not having a van with hand controls, told him to go to a hotel, at his expense, and try again in the morning because they cancelled his reservation.I waited 40 minutes for a van I rented and confirmed. Air went out in the rear during record heat wave in Napa. Called Budget for help and was told there was nothing they could do.
My flight into Sacramento was delayed for 4 hours., landing around 1am. Their attendant stayed well passed closing for passengers who were going to land aggravated and tired and needing their cars to reach their hotels and get even just a few hours of rest. Shout out to Blake, he was definitely a lot of gold at the end of a long and delayed rainbow..
Absolutely terrible experience. Very long wait, over an hour. 2 people working the counter. The people at the counter were fantastic employees and did a good job when we finally got to them. Terrible job by Budget during peak hours and memorial day/summer break to have low staff.
TLDR: If you are in need of a rental car, do not use Budget Car Rental, Avis Car Rental or any other subsidiary of Avis Budget Group or you too could be charged any amount they desire as a cleaning fee in accordance to their terms and conditions and dont bother calling or interacting with their Customer Care team as their customer service is non-existent.Rental Agreement Number: U294435503On Saturday, November 14th 2020, I rented a vehicle from the Budget at the Sacramento Intl Airport with a scheduled return date of November 18th, 2020 for a total cost of $417.75. The vehicle was returned ahead of schedule on November 17th, 2020. On December 7th, 2020 I received the following letter:Unfortunately, as we processed the vehicle that you returned to the Budget location at SACRAMENTO INTL APO,6420 MCNAIR CIRCLE on 11/17/2020, we discovered Pet Hair in the Interior of the car.In accordance with our rental policies, when our vehicles are returned with excessive soilage, we must assess customers for the cleaning service required to return the vehicle to a tidy and sanitary condition that will meet the next customers expectations. The credit card you used for this rental will be billed $479.00 for the required cleaning service.Initially when reading the letter and seeing the amount they wanted to charge I thought maybe I violated some terms of service by having a pet in the vehicle. After thoroughly reading the Rental Terms and Conditions there was nothing that indicated any such violation, in fact the specific verbiage they are hanging this charge on is as follows:8.2: You will also pay a reasonable fee for cleaning the cars interior upon return for excessive stains, trash, dirt, soilage or odors attributable to your use. That same day I called their Customer Care team as the letter instructed if I had any questions or concerns regarding the fee. The call resulted in a dispute being submitted to which I was told I would receive an email response within a few days, which I received later that evening. After several email exchanges they continue to dodge and avoid providing any reasonable explanation as to how they arrived at $479 and refuse to provide a copy of the receipt for the detailing performed on the vehicle. As I indicated in my initial email response, this is not only the first time, but will be the last time, I will ever conduct any business with Budget or a subsidiary of Avis Budget Group.
We needed help with Roadside Assistance and we never got any. We kept getting shunted to Dispatch. When we were transferred there, we would hear music and then the line would go dead. Over and over this happened. We must have called Budget 50 times before finally coming up with our own solution. This was shameful service.
Given a car that reeked of cigarettes and had leftover items from previous renter. No one answers the customer service line. I sent an email about the issue, and the only resolution they offered was one free day rental in the future. I want at least a partial refund, but that is unlikely given the horrible business this place is running. NEVER AGAIN.
If there is a negative million star , can I give that. There is queue of atleast 300 people waiting to get electronic check in . And just one guy who is the slowest on planet earth . It’s gonna take 3-4 hours to get electronic check in and then pick up the car . Never ever booking from budget.
Booked 10 days through Costco for about $1100. Ended up paying $1500 because of the agents scare tactics about insurance coverage. Ill avoid Budget from now on if possible. Ive not had this treatment from other rental companies. Ill also share this experience with Costcos travel services.
Every time I walk into budget Avis everything is already ready I dont have no complaints my car is always ready nice and clean the employees in the back are just awesome employees at the desk are also I dont have any complaints I have nothing bad to say Ill take a 10 on top of a team my only complain is I do a lot of rentals through my business Ill be trying to rent cargo vans and I can never find them thats my only complaint with budget anything else I love them I give them attention to
One of the tires had leak, had the car for one week, none of the locations had replacement. Was on business did not have time to bring it back to Sacto, also gas being so high, we just could not afford to drive back and waste a whole day. While returning the car, the manager named Blake had the audacity to ask us why we couldnt bring it back. The other lady asked me if I had receipts, she must not know that air machines take quarters and does not give receipts.
To try and save a few dollars I end up paying way more. When i return the car I end up with aditional charges and no one has been able to explain what are the charges for. Then a week later they charge the credit card $250 for cleaning. I will never use this company ever again you can judge if the cleaning is worth $250 here are the pictures they provide
The agent was very nice and polite, however they did offer an upgrade which I declined then it turned out my SUV was not avail and they upgraded me to the SUV they tried to sell me at no charge. So not really sure if they knew that and would hope I pay for an upgrade. I am thankful they did upgrade at no charge and like I stated the agent was very polite. Even without the free upgrade I would reuse budget for 2 reason..... 1 the agent was polite and 2. their prices was just cheaper then the others during holiday weekend they had better deals.
Everything was perfect, except the line waiting to get the car. We waited for almost an hour in line. However, when I got to the front, the employee was very sweet. Since Budget had been so busy and cars were going quickly, they only had two options at the time. She said we could get a slightly lower grade car then we paid for or we could get a Mustang Convertible for $10 a day more. After hearing it was a convertible, I decided to pay a little more to have that car. Well worth it! When I dropped the car off in the morning, the man that inspected it was super friendly and outgoing. He made being up so early much more enjoyable. Thank you for a great, fun car and a good experience. We will definitely be back.
It was super-easy to pick up the car at Sacramento Airport and the agent at the counter was authentically friendly! I was dreading having to wait for a car to be ready, or to find that there werent any available, or that I would be given a Suburban to drive rather than my sweet little compact. So smooth and efficient, just sign the paper and take the keys!
The customer service people were awesome even with impatient customers. I had a great experience. I got a really nice rental and it made the trip so much better. I wasnt really expecting a Camaro convertible when I selected mystery car.I paid online. The entire process was quick and painless.
I had issues with my car and called the Roadside Assistance and Customer Care unit but when I returned car was unable to get a larger credit. Be aware if you have an issue with your car be sure to document it with pictures and recognize that you will likely not be able to contact the office you rented it from. They need to have a coordinated message review system!
The Prius was nice, even had adaptive cruise on it. The problems came after the right, rear tire exploded on the freeway... In the middle of nowhere. This in and of itself was scary, but I understand these things happen. The problems came from Budget customer service. They told me it would be at least an hour, and someone would only come to change out this tire for the spare tire, leaving me to travel the rest of my trip on a donut, at 55 miles per hour. As soon as I mentioned I could change the spare tire sooner than they could get there, the representative hung up on me. I changed the tire in a pencil skirt and began a series of seven to eight phone calls two different Budget rental agencies to trade out the car. I finally found one 2 hours out of my way, and this was during normal business hours. After arriving at my destination 4 hours late, and missing my business meeting, I thought my worries were over. Two weeks later, surprise!... I received a bill for roadside services rendered! I calmly called and explained the situation, and they very quickly reversed the charges, but this just further confirmed I will never, ever, ever use Budget again!
While the wait in line was very long...my experience once I reached the counter was brief, professional, expedient, and enjoyable. The gentleman who helped me was very knowledgeable, gave me the news I needed for when I returned the vehicle, and gave me a choice of a couple of vehicles. I havent had that enjoyable of an experience in quite some time. Thank you so much! The Prius I rented was the best! Ill be renting that vehicle again.
The location is very close to the airport with regular shuttle service. The car was ok and perhaps could have been washed and cleaned before renting but the customer service agent who served me was amazing. He was very friendly and very helpful. When I returned the car, the lady was waiting and took care of the return in less than a minute after I came out of the car. She was also great.
Budget and Avis have affordable rates and are honest when it comes to prices and fees. The staff do their best to accommodate customers needs. I rent cars from Budget and Avis often and I have always been satisfied. I am interested in purchasing a car from your lots. I just dont know where to look or contact for help.
Not sure you can expect much during late pandemic. Bottom line: There was a reserved car for us, and we were grateful. On a Friday afternoon, long lines for the bus to the offsite rental location. Very long lines (one hour) at the kiosk. Seating so not everyone from our party had to wait in line. Staff was friendly, effective at the counter. Return staff was indifferent, did not work with people in the order of arrival, and it took about 30 minutes including wait for bus. And, prices are super high. All this said, there is no other choice, and I imagine its not easy to work this job under these conditions. More staff, infrastructure is needed. Including more cars. (Or, better public transportation so we dont have to do this).
I feel like this company is full of the scam artists that constantly call or email me. Even when picking up my rental, the person at the desk made it seem like I only had two options for damage protection. I picked the option that I thought was included in what I had already paid just to find out later that it was an extra $17 per day charge. During my rental, I had to call roadside assistance because I couldnt figure out why the vehicle wouldnt start. When the person came to help, they told me that once free jump came with my rental. Later, I found out that Im being billed for that also. The amount of additional charges is now equal to the original cost of the rental so I dont see how that beneficial to me.
The first vehicle I received was dirty inside and had 2 different damages on the outside (back bumper and side). The replacement smelled like smoke and was missing the knub that controlled the defrost and all directions of air conditioning. Going into the frozen mountains without a defrost button wasnt only challaging - it was dangerous.
I booked my car rental through my flight with Southwest. When Southwest cancelled my flight and asked me to reschedule, I ended up adding 2 additional days to my stay in Sacramento. I couldnt find any contact info to add the 2 days to my car rental, and had received no confirmation number, so I decided to add the additional days when I picked up the car. When I arrived at Budget I was told I couldnt add the extra days, and if I did it would cancel my reservation rate and I would be charged $90 per day. I asked to speak to the manager, who confirmed this info. The I asked what would happen if I just kept the original reservation and called on the last day and asked to extend it 2 days. I was told they would charge me $150 per day if I didnt sign the contract that day. I asked them to explain and the manager rudely told me I was being difficult. I have witnesses that saw I was NOT being difficult, and felt stuck, that I had no choice. So I was charged $500 to rent a low rider tiny car for 5 days! Next time I will NOT be stuck, as I will be renting from another company! Absolutely the WORST customer service I have dealt with!
I reserved a car and had to call them to make arrangements because I was probably going to be there a few minutes after they closed. They said that they sent a request to their team and to just check back within 48 hours to see the approval but that all should be fine. They simply deleted my reservation without telling me anything and when I called to check, I simply didnt exist. I will never rent them nor will my family. That is a very poor service to give a person.
The person at the counter was very friendly, helpful and caring. Great customer service. explained how to check car in when I returned at 2:30 am when no one would be there. helpful about the city and areas around me. The car I signed up for wasnt available but they got me a better car at no extra cost.
Staff was unhelpful and or rude. Even after booking and paying online there were multiple issues at pos. They also tried to push me into a different vehicle even thought there were Tacoma trucks in the lot. Once I jumped through all the hoops I will say that the vehicle was great and suited me needs perfectly.
We arrived to the rental pick up counter around 10 when we were scheduled to pick up our car. We waited in line for almost two hours before getting a rental car, one that we did not reserve. There was only one worker working the counter with tons of other people with reservations. Budget did not honor the military discount they offer. The first rental car we received had a parking brake malfunction and needed to be seen by the dealer so we had to go back in to get a different car. Our initial reservation was quoted for $240 and we ended up paying $432. Will never use Budget ever again.
LONG airport wait - then I was given a junker with nearly 70, 000 miles on it. My journey from the airport was just 50 miles. I didnt think the piece of junk car would make it - slowing down, speeding up, hit the brakes and the steering wheel shook like crazy. The only reason I didnt take it back was because after the long wait to get the dang thing I was late for my meeting. Im just appalled that Budget would let such a junker on the road and charge $100 for it. Unbelievable. I will never use budget again, and I would not recommend them to anyone! Booked through Expedia with my flight! REALLY REALLY BAD AND DANGEROUS!
Rental rates were very reasonable. We changed our reservation to a rental in Sacramento from Reno and it was easy to make the change. We rented a 4WD vehicle and it was available for us in Sacramento. We returned the vehicle in Reno and the dropoff charges were extremely reasonable.
I would give no stars if I could!!!!! First off the guy who made my reservations (didnt speak English very well..) & messed up my reservation!! I ordered the car for 3 days & ended up getting it for 2, to where I had to pay an extra day!! Then they told me (the location I picked up from..) Would be open on my return date (Labor day..) but it was closed so I had to drop off 11 miles further, & be charged an extra $50!! I was given a grace period for drop off (30mins..extension because of the new location distance from me..) & I ended up being charged for that as well $78 for the hour (which I shouldnt have been..)!! I paid $383.56 in total & this was without insurance, because my AAA covered me!! The next day Budget charged me ANOTHER $383.56!!!!!!!!! I called immediately, & the first 2 customer service reps tried to tell me its because the new drop off location & the extra hour (which I shouldnt have been charged for, & I already paid in my total..)!! They are taking their sweet time crediting my account that is now overdrawn & sending me through hoops!!
My flight was delayed and when I got to the center they did not have the vehicle for my reservation. Fred was assisting at the time. He offer to give me a car for the night and to get me in the mini Van the next day when the rest of my family was arriving for our trip. That service really help me out because I didnt have any other way to get the mini Van. The customer service was awesome and excellent. Thank you Fred and Budget.
They gave me a car that was not well maintained. The routine check was required. So I asked after 3 days that my car be changed. I had to drive 100 miles both way to get to a Budget, and they didnt even offer me to pay for gas! And the new car had tyres issues, the last 5 days we had to add air to the tyres every morning. No change possible we were out in the desert with no budget!
This was the worst experience I have ever had with a car rental company. I waited in line for 2 hours to get a rental car I had already paid for. While in line I called customer service and was on hold for about an hour just to be told my call was being disconnected. No one else would answer. I contacted customer support via email and it is 3 days later and no response yet. The people at the counter had nothing to say about the wait except for its always like this. Which was a lie because when I returned the car, there were maybe 3 people in line. This is unacceptable as no other rental line was this long in the entire place. Budget customer service should really contact me back to make this right because waiting in a 2 hour line after getting off an airplane for a car I have already prepaid for will never happen from this company again. Absolutely terrible dont use them!!
The line to get our prepaid car at the SMF airport was over an hour and a half long!! Your counter literally had only 1 worker checking people in and there was no way to get our car any faster. The Enterprise line was much shorter and well staffed and we will likely change to them in the future if your service doesnt improve. Once we got to the front (over and hour and a half) later the woman who checked us in was nice. The car was what we ordered and good. I feel like we should get a discount for the crazy amount of time we all waited. There must have been over 30+ people in line and 1 staff member working. This is unacceptable to make people wait for this length of time for a prepaid car!! Please correct. Thank you.
Picking up the car was a quicker process than I expected. Dropping off was super easy and the staff was friendly. I was happy to be able to rent the car I had requested and not get hit with changes at the last minute. The car was clean and I had no issues while driving it.
The service I personally received at the Sacramento Airport Budget was superb - all individuals were kind, helpful, and enjoyable to work with. However, when using Roadside Assistance as a result of multiple incidents (flat tire and fender bender), I was disappointed with: the wait time to get someone on the phone (15 minutes), and the handling of the flat tire, where we were told it would take 2-3 hours to get a tow truck even though we were in Sacramento and stuck on the side of a busy connector. We were also dealing with individuals who were not trained to be empathetic, and were also rude. Therefore, I am hesitant to recommend Budget should you find yourself in a situation where you require roadside assistance.
Check in was great! Guy was very friendly and helpful! Nice clean car too!Remember to have a credit card and not just a Debit Card. They dont except Debits without a credit check. Mine is frozen and luckily I had another credit card or I would have to call someone with one (LOL)But overall I like the system they have at the Sacramento, Ca Airport and Budget does an Awesome Job!
On February 20, 2019 I spent an hour and a half waiting in a line that stretched and blocked the next rental companies line. I asked how long some of the folks towards the front had been waiting, and they said better than an hour. I could not happen but to notice them running keys in as people were signing contracts. They had no additional cars to rent. People who had reservations were leaving and going to other counters to rent cars. My reservation was pre-paid, so I assumed my reservation would be met. as after an hour and a half in line, I finally got to the counter, only to find out my prepaid Escape, or like car per their ad, ended up getting me offered a mini van. Really? A mini van? I chose to wait what I thought would be a few minutes to see what might drive back into the lot. After an additional hour of additional waiting on a bench waiting for keys, The counter clerk looked over and asked if I was still waiting for keys. I replied, yep, Im still waiting. So when I did finally get my keys, I looked at the clock and noted how much of my hard earned vacation time had just got wasted by Budget. A total of 2 1/2 hours. Oh, and when I drove off the lot, just in time for late afternoon rush hour traffic. I had planned my time off to maximize time spent with family. Man the start at the rental agency was the worse. I would steer clear of Budget, as this was my second bad experience with Budget. The other time was at Denver Internationals Budget agency. I will not subject myself to a third round of waiting in line, and not having a car that was pre-paid for. Their business model is dysfunctional at best. I really enjoyed the part when one of the Counter people had had enough, and went into the back room and hid. My frustration now is being vented on Social media to warn other future customers what kind of nightmares may be waiting for them at the Budget counter. What a sad company. I would have given it 0 stars, but it would not let me post until I marked at least 1 star....
Tony was professional and helpful at the desk. I prepaid for my reservation on the Budget App due to the Amazon partnership. You get an Amazon gift card for 10% of your rental amount when you reserve through the app or online! It made the check-in process SO EASY at the desk. I didnt worry about up-charges or extra fees. There were 3 people at the desk when I got there, so I was helped quickly. Responding to the negative reviews, just be patient but politely persistent if theyre understaffed! My car was a very clean Honda Civic in great shape!
Honestly, this was perfect. I had to cancel a reservation with another company due to a flight cancelation and was able to reserve a vehicle within minutes. I live for customer service so I was skeptical when I was able to find a vehicle at the airport in such short notice but tobmy surprised, the lady at the counter was not just super professional and helpful but friendly and kind and all kinds of nice. Im definitely using Budget from now on.
My appointment was for a 10:30 pickup of the van I rented...I arrived almost a half-hour early thinking that they would need to get things ready for me. I asked if the express line was for me when I arrived and was told NO, that I would have to wait in the line inside the building. I was in line for more than two and a half hours. I am seventy-two years old and there was no place to sit in line so I was on my feet the entire time. When I finally arrived at the desk, they had listed me as a NO SHOW and I was upset, asking if I would be given a discount for the wait since it was so long after my APPOINTMENT and was told no. I saw a 5% discount from both the AARP and AAA discounts that I had entered when I made the reservation.but the rental was still $100 more than I was expecting to pay. I needed the van for visitors who had come from Ohio and I was planning to take them several places in California. Needless to say, the long wait kept us from one of the planned visits, so they saw much less than Id anticipated showing them. The van was a WONDERFUL car and drove beautifully. We were very pleased with the vehicle but something simply must be done about the fact that appointments are not given priority over people who simply get off a plane and want a car. I am extremely disappointed with that part of the rental process. I thought that reserving a car the night before I needed it would make a difference, what IS the express line for if not for those who had appointments? Next time I will reserve at a franchise or another rental agency if appointments mean nothing to Budget.
Quality car, clean. But line took an hour, much longer than any other rental companys line. Very understaffed, while the few tellers are laughing and chatting. Line overflowed into other section of terminal. Probably will try to not use Budget in the future, but hard to choose sometimes on Priceline etc
Waited 1 hour and 19 minutes in line before I got the truck. When we got it, it had 12-15 significant scratches, plus 1 dent. Truck was out of alignment and the tires were out of balance. It was also dirty. Did NOT get value, as compared to my many other rental experiences with other companies. I will avoid Budget in the future. (To note, staff was very friendly and helpful. Problems must stem from management - top down.)
This was an almost flawless rental. I was reluctant to spend the extra on an upgrade to a Prius but I was very happy that I did. Driving in a strange metro area is difficult at least and not knowing the workings of a rental car makes it even harder. I chose the Prius because that is what I am used to. The car was spotless, the service picking it up was quick and efficient both at the shuttle and at the check out desk. Returning took no more than 30 seconds! All in all a great experience.
It took over an hour to claim my reserved car because the staff was grossly undermanned. There were only 2 agents trying to process about 30 customers. Also, the agent pressured me into buying insurance even though I stated I did not want it because my own insurance company covered rentals. The agent said Budget did not honor 3rd party insurance. Also, never received email statement for final billing.
If you go to this place make sure they explain everything. I got charged for optional products that I never was asked about. Then I return the car 10mins late and was charged for those optional products for another day. They add over excessive fees. My one day rental was $119, when I returned next day it was $257. You do the math (I was charged for another day). I would never rent from this place again.
Tony at this Budget saved OUR LIVES. Enterprise tried to screw us, and told us at pickup we would need to pay an extra 400$ on top of the 530$ we already were paying for an awd vehicle (we called to confirm awd ahead of time but apparently needed to get that sh*t in writing for them to honor their word). Tony saw the panic in my eyes and helped us out MAJORLY. Gave us exactly what we needed (were going over the Tahoe pass so awd was 100% a must), and at a huge discount, less than half of what enterprise wanted for the same exact thing. Enterprise didnt give a sh*t about us, just another transaction to them, but Tony treated me like a person and I cant thank him enough. Cheesy as it sounds, Tony was truly our Christmas miracle. Somebody get this man a raise, seriously.
Sam at the front counter helped us out so much when our rental (made through a third party) overcharged us. He was transparent and helped us understand what went wrong with our reservation - even though it wasn’t his fault. We were able to get a refund through the third party because he called them out on the phone. I was initially frustrated with budget, but their customer service was surprisingly helpful in this instance. I really appreciate Sam’s patience with us during our confusion.
No hassle check out and return. Price was a little, just a little steep but not a deal breaker for me. The staff at check was calm and had a since of humor which made the check out process nice. Upon returning my vehicle, I experienced a similar experience. The young lady was very pleasant and helpful with the return. Definitely two thumbs up for the Budget Staff that I encountered.
Customer service at the front counter to get the car was incredibly slow. It took just over twenty minutes to get to the counter with only two people waiting in front of me. Meanwhile, I noticed Enterprise helping seven separate customers with several minutes between anyone waiting during the same time. And, Budget is still using a dot-matrix printer for their customer paperwork. That says it all. Finally, when I returned the car (same day) it took 5-6 minutes before anyone walked up to check the car out. Bottom line, really poor customer service will not bring me back.
We arrived at midnight to pick up our reservation for a suburban or something similar. Friday night May 14. The agent was fantastic. Despite our exhaustion and stress he had us smiling and on our way quick and easy. The other car rentals had closed up and left early which left many travelers desperate for a vehicle. And Budget honored the reservation and had a Ford Expedition waiting.
2 cars with damage were offered to me in the parking lot and the staff did not check the unit for cleanliness or damage. The third vehicle offered was an upgrade so that made up for the 1 hour delay in just getting a vehicle I reserved online. Also when I returned to counter the representative shifted me over to another represented and was not willing to help me. A service person in the parking lot was very helpful and stayed with me until I got a vehicle with no damage.
Picked up my car and noticed it had a crack in the windshield before we ever left the lot. When I dropped the car off they tried to claim it had happened while I was in possession of the car. Not sure how a company is so incompetent as to not know what existing damage there is to their vehicles. Luckily I took photos of the damages before we ever even left the lot. This place is a scam and I do not recommend as they will try to screw you over too.
I had to rent a minivan because thats all that was available. When I went to pick up the vehicle, there was new rentals that people were renting that were available. The rental came to about $300 for one day. I rent cars all the time from other rental companies for work. Normally for any car I normally pay about $35 a day, your car was 10 times that amount then when I return the car, immediately hour and a half late, they charged me for a second day and would not accommodate me for being an hour and a half late due to traffic. So not only did I pay $600 for a minivan for one day. The person that I was working with had a nonchalant cavalier attitude with a chip on his shoulder as I try to discuss it with him. He told me well I could have charged you the hourly rate for the time that you were over your return time but thats $172 an hour so for the 2 hours it would be even more than $300. As if he was doing me a huge favor. As I sit on the travel committee for my company I will never use budget again and ensure neither does my company.
Fraudulent consumers, full of inducing introductions, the front desk salesperson is very unprofessional, or disguised, he kept asking his manager. We added the itinerary, due to the need to temporarily modify the date, we asked if the price can be changed And the price. The sales did not give us any information before we paid. We realized that it was a scam when we saw the bill, but it was too late. You don’t want to choose this rental company anymore. Scams, scammers.
These people need to hire more staff. I waited in line for almost 45 minutes and there were only 3 people in front of me. They only had 2 people at the desk for budget/Avis and about 20 people in line. Also one of the people at the front desk stopped helping people because she was fixing the printer or doing something else. It almost looked like she was sleeping at times. Also once we got the car, the seats had stains all over them. Probably one of the worst experiences with renting a car. I will never go through budget again!
The line to check in and receive the car was much too long about 30 people and only two clerks behind the counter. The vehicle had many miles on it (41K+) and was scratched up. There were no clear signs on where to return the car and I had to circle several times before asking an employee where the Budget return was.
I will tell everyone to use someone else. All the companies in the pickup area had plenty of staff to issue vehicles. Budget did not and made us wait an hour. If for some reason budget rents so many more cars than other companies ies then they ought to know to have more staff. If they dont, then something is wrong with their process that the other companies in the terminal dont seem to have.
Several issues, first we decided to upgrade the vehicle. It was FILTHY. Only in town for 2, TWO DAYS. Eight hours into the trip the tire pressure alarm went off. We filled the tire up no much of a problem. Rental from Sacramento so unaware that the air machines take cards only, where Im from the machines take coins. Not really a problem, just another inconvenience in my 2 day trip. The next morning awoke to a flat tire, barely enough air to make it to the air machine, a little panicked, called the budget 1800 number. Agent asked me to bring it back to original pick up location at Sacramento airport. Couldnt do it, as I said we were hours away at that point on 2 day trip. Agent never told me to take the rental to nearest Budget office so we kept rental to the end of the trip. I tried to explain the situation upon drop off. Agent at airport Budget told me since I used Expedia I would have to resolve the issue with them . Several HOURS on the phone with Expedia and it was determined that it was Budgets issue. After 3 attempts to reach someone and Budget, 2 times being disconnected I decided to just give a review. I will never rent or reccomend this agency again. I get that its super busy now , no excuses for filthy , possibly unsafe vehicles that could have you stranded on the side of the road.
NEVER got a contract and car was FILTHY even after they cleaned it AGAIN.. We returned the car on 1/31/21 it was NOT checked into the facility until FEB 5th and they tried to charge me for gas, We ALWAYS fill it before we return it... WILL NEVER RENT FROM AVIS OR BUDGET AGAINonly gave it 1 star because i had to in order to post this...
The WORST experience ever. We rent cars here several times a year because we have family in town. It is a consistent nightmare. Today I am sitting here again, just got a car assigned to us and it has a broken seat. So now waiting in line AGAIN to get a different car. This place is a serious joke. I rarely get out of this Budget desk in under an hour. If you have a chance, rent from any other company at this location, but NOT Budget, even if you have to pay more.
The rental process is really easy and goes fast the only thing I could say is that I did not want a full size truck this cost me a few $100 extra dollars in gas. I Ask for a small pick up and I had a full size truck at time of pickup. That dont really hold vehicles I guess
I picked up my SUV and noticed a strong cigarette odor in the vehicle. I immediately looked into exchange into another car, but the desk person mention it was probably the cleaner the washing crew uses. So, I took his recommendation drove off for 30 mins and figured out it wasnt the cleaner making the smoke smell. I wanted to swap into another vehicle, so I drove to 2 other Budget locations spending 2 hours out of my time, but all the locations were closed earlier because it was Christmas eve. Instead of spending time with family we were wasting time trying to find another car and our health was in question since we inhale the cigarette smell. The smell was so bad we were unable to drive unless the windows were open. Also, this stress was creating a fight between my spouse and I since we didnt have a sufficient car. We question the SUV that was given to us since the front tires were bald and wouldnt pass inspection and the low engine oil light along service light was notify the driver on the dashboard. We tried to clean the vehicle with cleaner and left the windows open overnight, but the smell was still present. December 26, I took 3 hours out of my time to drive from where we were staying, back the Budget airport to swap another SUV. I called customer support and notify them of the issue I was having but they could only offer me 1-day free rental. I wanted 3 days free rental since the car was unusable and we had to borrow another car for 2 days, however they couldnt authorize this transaction. I asked to speak to a manager but wasnt available and am expecting a call back, but its been 3 days later. Thanks for giving us an unsafe car putting us in danger and unparalleled poor customer support for not giving me a call back from management. Sure Budget is cheaper than other rental companies but its worth spending the extra money to get better service from the competitors.*Update12/29/20Budget Operations manager was able to accommodate me with my troubles. Thank you Ashley.
The car rental went smoothly. I am currently a nurse on deployment with the California Health department, which they can change my location weekly, so I could only make a short reservation in hopes to extend the car rental with ease if needed. I was informed I was not allowed to use my company code for the reservation extension. I would of had to pay over $200 more to extend than if I returned the car and made a new reservation, which is what I ended up doing. I found this to be pointless, and extremely inconvenient when I already dont have much free time.
Will never rent from them again. They advertised one price, then after a careful inquiry I found out they were actually charging me almost 200 a day for a car rental. The number that they list on their website is not their number and you wont ever be able to speak directly to anyone at that location. At the rental counter, the line is super long because they barely have anyone working at the counters. Its been 2 weeks and I still havent received my deposit reimbursement, like they said I would. Just called to inquire about my deposit. Cant get a hold of anyone...
This company does not care about the customer. I am 2 hrs away and was told I can renew my rental over the phone the first month. I called on April 30 and talked with an agent and renewed my contract only to start receiving calls and voicemail to turn my car in because I havent renewed. I called staying on hold for 33 minutes to be told Im not renewed, I cant do it over the phone, and have to drive 2hrs back to Sacramento to renew in person. I was told if I go somewhere near that it would cost extra. Extra? To go in a build and sign the same papers that I would sign 2 hours away!!!? What type of customer service is this? I will be taking their car back (which I planned to rent for 4 months while Im here nursing in California) and pay the 1300 and get my car transported from MS to California. I obviously see this company doesnt want my money enough to supply a convenient way to renew a rental.
Extremely long line. Desk clerks were Extremely nice and helpful but it took over an hour with a reservation to get the car. the person in the lot did not answer the desk clerks page and was inexcusably rude to ne when I asked a simple question about starting the car
When we arrived at the pick up area in Sacramento, the line was through the door. The front desk area was completely understaffed and trying to resolve multiple difficult customers. Im hoping this was a one time event, but this experience was sub-par and completely overshadowed the helpfulness once I was at the counter.
Over an hour wait to check in on Fri 06/04. Paid $700+ for a car and then charged me $15 for gas for a 1.4 difference (24.6 Gal Out- 23.2 Gal In), when the gas gauge was on the Full line. I still had to drive from the closest gas station to drop off the car?! This rental car was the most expensive part of my trip and I had multiple hotels and flights. I will use another rental company in the future.
SCAM WARNING! Their new cars apparently have the ability to measure the exact amount of gas in the tank at the time of rental and if you return it with even the slightest amount less they charge you a $16 service fee! I am not talking about using a half a gallon or a gallon which I can understand...down to the ounce. SCAM!
My entire experience was PERFECT! Originally I had selected another company, had reservations before my trip...only to be left basically STRANDED w/o even the actual address where my vehicle was supposed to be! However, within an hour BUDGET had me in a beautiful car and on my way home! Personnel was so helpful and friendly, I cant thank you enough for a safe and great experience!
I was changed $231 for insurance that I did not need or request. The policy was added as an opt out option, which I opted out of all coverages, yet the policy appeared on my invoice. My own insurance covered this, I was tricked into paying for this additional coverage. My attempt at resolution was unsatisfactory. I would strongly advise against renting from Budget and Avis by association.
Understaffing at the check out line caused an almost 30 minute check-in process. You are charging premium prices for convenience at the airport, so at the least, ensure the experience is quick. I could have paid $30.00 for an Uber/Lyft to take me to an off Airport Car Rental Agency and spent the same amount of $$ without having to wait in line. Plus, even with alleged COVID protocols, no one followed them and no one enforced them, and that comes done to lack of staffing. Spend the extra $120 ($15/hour for 8 hr shift) and have enough staff on shift working.
I reserved a compact car for 3 days at $119.55 and was charged $221.69. I retuerned the car with same gas they gave and I asked the person that checked me in. I was told at the counter they didnt have a compact vehicle and if a 4 runner is ok? I said yes if Im not getting charged extra.BEHOLD i get charged for upgrade.....bad business! Thats not good business. I called and the gentlemen refunded the upgrade charge and asked me to send a receipt to show I put in gas. I was given a case#3870184 in which I sent a receipt for in email. I was also told the gas tank had 23.5 gallons and was full. Well the 4runner has 23 gallon tank. your employees need to be trained right!!! NOw you know why you got a ZERO!
When I 1st arrived at the rental location I gave the representative my reservation number, which was for a small vehicle like a Kia or Toyota and when I got to the car it was a mini van. I went inside and advised the representative for your company that I did not reserve that vehicle and that it was too big for me, I wouldnt be able to see when I drive it. He stated that there were not any more vehicles available at this time. I then inform him that I am willing to even take a car that was just brought in, he stated no. So when I walk to the mini van I get in and it immediately smells like marijuana in the car. I was livid because of the audacity of your representative to tell me about the dirty car but yet puts in me in a car full of marijuana smell. It ends up putting me in a another car(mitsubishi) but overall It was horrible experience. Im hesitant to even ride with your company let alone give a good reference for my friend and company.
I havent even picked up my rental yet and am sure I will never do business with them again. Absolute worst customer service, no way to actually talk to the employees at the location of pick up. They send you to a call center that is no help and only want to pass you off to the next guy. All of this just because I wanted a question answered about how to handle a delayed flight/pick up. They may be the cheapest but you pay for what you get and Ill spend a bit more next time!
Picked up a car today from this airport location and Nancy S was the staff who helped us. She was adamant about our insurance not covering their rentals. We have been renting vehicles for twenty years, drive luxury vehicles and darn well KNOW our insurance policies. This staff member became extremely rude with saying third party insurances will not cover (when they do). She is ill informed and also didnt know how to cancel a reservation or if there was a fee to do so. She was simply trying to sell us an unnecessary add on. She was unprofessional and rude. She told me to go online to cancel it myself. When I let her know we have been renting cars for twenty years she laughed and said twenty years?! I mean I know we look good but really ... dont be condescending We travel a lot and are in our 40s so um, yep! I wont ever be booking either budget again and have learned to check yelp reviews before going with any company that is not enterprise!!
Wait time was excessive, cars werent ready. We exited the counter with contract at 11:57 am, we received our car at approx. 1:30 pm. We were charged for 4 full days when in fact we were only 2 hours over 3 days, never again will I use Budget at SMF. Car GPS/Map didnt work, SD card had been removed. Although the agent at the counter was very friendly and doing what she could do to help, this was the worst car rental experience ever for us. Overcharged, car not ready as promised, agents taking breaks when there were over 30 people in line, not many employees could speak English......terrible!!
The first car I was assigned was disgusting and stained so badly, I had went back to counter and expressed concern and was remedied a much nicer vehicle. The accomodations were taken care of and the staff was upset about having to request a new car from the garage. It arrived perfectly clean and fresh.
Counter staff are beyond RUDE! I swear they must have a class at Budget that teaches the counter staff how to be rude, aggressive, confrontational, and just out ride unprofessional. Prepaid the rental on Priceline and bought the supplemental insurance on Priceline as it was more affordable. At the counter and both of the agents at Avis and Budget (they are evidently owned by the same company as the Avis person handled our Budget reservation) clearly did not want to be working and had a clear intolerance for the customers. When trying to be nice and happy with our counter staff she was not interested and became more uninterested/rude when we would not purchase the additional coverage nor the fuel. She became legalist in her communication about needed to fill up within five miles of the airport and returning with a receipt to prove the fillup. Watching the interaction of the customer with the other counter staff, we could see that both of these people needed to fired. The other customer was trying to be nice and friendly to the staff but was receiving the same rudeness we were receiving. Returning the vehicle that afternoon seemed easy enough. The man checking the vehicle in inspected the vehicle for damage, checked the mileage/fuel level and said you are good to go. About two hours later I received an email with the closing bill and was surprised to see a total charge for $19.19 as a fuel service charge and related taxes, even though I filled up the car at the gas station at the airport. I spent a long time trying to get to someone to actually speak with on the phone. After an hour, I finally got routed to someone in customer service who asked me a bunch of questions and finally agreed that I had been charged in error. I am waiting to see if the charge will actually be reversed, which is now more time tracking the incident. I have asked Budget to provide proof of the fuel that they claim to have filled the vehicle and the name of the employee responsible for adding the additional fuel. No one at Budget will address the issue or provide further information on the matter. After seeing other reviews of budget at other locations charging customers in this same manner, I will be filing a complaint with the attorney generals office in CA.
When I recieved the car it had only 1/2 a tank. The employee acknowledged this and said to bring it back the same way. We brought it back with 3/4 of a tank and were still charged $35 for not bringing it back full. So now I have to waste my time calling and filling out forms to get a charge removed that would never have been there. Very disappointed.
I prepaid for my rental so when I arrived on time to pick it up I did not expect that I would have to wait almost an hour to be able to receive the keys due to the staff not having the car washed and ready for me. I was told that they needed to wash the vehicle. I said ok and I waited for 49 minutes only to be told that the vehicle was just too dirty and they would need to find me another vehicle. This was very inconvenient and delayed my trip. Once I did get a vehicle the van that I was given was not clean anyway. That was extremely upsetting and frustrating! This was my first and last time renting from Budget Rental Car. From now on I will continue renting from Hertz.
When we arrived at the Budget counter the line was short but we had to wait for a long time and we also received our car but noticed the front passenger seat had something on it. We requested that they send someone to just clean the seats and we were instructed we would need to wait to get another car. I didnt want to wait an extend period of time so I asked if they would just give me something to clean it with. They sent a gentleman over he looked at it and walked away not communicating to me at all. By that time Im puzzeled so I walk over to the booth and asked for a wipe and cleaning solution but to no avail. Finally a gentleman came to the car with a spray bottle and a wipe but he seemed very disturbed. Nevertheless the seats were wiped and we were on our way.
The lady that helped me with my reservation was good and the process was fast. However the car was not as what was expected. I got it in the early morning around 6am so the cigarette smell wasnt as strong (wasnt sure if I can exchange the car so I went with it) but it got worse throughout the day. It also smelled like wet dog not sure if this was cleaned prior or the previous renter might have had a pet with them? Regardless the smell was the worse part of the experience.
Waited in line for almost an hour. Very long lines and only 1 person working the front desk. Spending more than 15 minutes with one customer. They need to hire more staff and pay attention to how many rentals they have coming in so they are prepared to handle customers in a timely manner. Completely ridiculous.
If I could give -10 review I would. My sister and I rented a car at Budget rent a car at the Sacramento airport from 3/10-3/13 to visit my father who’s in a convalescent home. The employee was very rude to us at the counter and we felt very awkward talking to him. He gave us a car that reeked of cigarette smoke so bad that we had to roll the windows down still with no relief. We had to waste valuable time taking it back to the airport Budget to get another car. When we got into the next car, we couldn’t believe it because it smelled just as bad as the other one! 😖 (isn’t it illegal to smoke in rentals?!?!), when we wanted to return that one they said that they had no more and that we would have to drive all over town trying to find a budget rent a car that had available cars, so we just suffered through it and just kept the car for the four days that we were there. When we returned it and told them that it smelled so bad even with the windows rolled down they seem not to care at all, and didn’t even apologize. I rarely ever leave bad reviews but as time has passed its making me more angry not saying anything. Please stay away from this auto rental company! They don’t care about their customers
We waited almost 2 hours in line to get our rental car. They are clearly far understaffing the check in counter with the amount of cars they are renting and offered no explanation or apology which makes it appear it happens regularly. Terrible way to run a business. Will not rent here again.
When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I had a reservation.....I waited in line for about an hour I felt that was way to long for someone who had a reservation. Part of the reason for this I felt was that there was not enough agents at the counter to assist. Their was one young lady who seem to not know what she was doing....see seemed to be very incompetent.
When we picked up the car on May 20 there were some issues. Car was dirty, spilled soda was in it and inside of doors were sticky so had to go back in and get another one so check cars carefully. Everyone was going slow do to short staff. So was frustrating with long lines. Return on 24th was smooth
When I got in from my flight the Budget counter rep was polite and created a good vibe and smiles. I added insurance to the rental because he was a gentlemen. Bringing the car back was fast and easy. Compared to moist other rental car companies over the last 3 decades this was the best experience. Keep creating smiles!
Car was filthy inside, with COVID-19 going around youd think theyd disinfect the car. I had to pull up to the hut to get it clean, and all they did was tell me they have wipes and I cleaned it myself. Outside wasnt washed either. I had a convertible and it was very expensive. Highest level of disappointment
The worst budget Ive ever been to. The lady at the desk wouldnt give me my car and pawned me off on the express customer service. Who, of course, didnt have my reservation ready even though the first clerk told me they would. I waited way longer than I should have considering I was the only person there. Then when I asked questions about the toll options that no one could give me details for. Then when I got my car, it was fithy inside and out. I had to meet a client for 2 weeks, driving to work in a dirty unkept car. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
My pickup time was 12pm on Friday the 6th which i reserved almost 2 months in advance. I literally stood in line for 2 hours because you guys wanted to only have 1 person at the counter for the 1st hour on a busy Friday. When i finally made it to the counter my truck was still not ready. The lady at the counter tells me i can get you out now with a rental by upgrading you to a full size pickup but it will cost you $20 a day extra which was not going to happen as it shouldnt be my responsibility to pay more on a reservation your company didnt have together. I had to wait an additional 45 minutes for my rental to get ready & be brought to me. In total i waited 2 hours & 45 minutes which was absolutely ridiculous. The service from Budget was extremely unsatisfying.
I dont usually write bad reviews and given COVID-19 I understand the hardship that companies go through but this experience was ridiculous. When our shuttle took us to the budget rental space we proceeded to wait in line for about 1.5 hours (I noticed that there was only 2 staff working), so we patiently waited. When we got to the counter, our cashier offered us to upgrade our vehicle, which we kindly declined. He then proceeded to tell us that they dont have the SUV class that I pre-paid and reserved online (why pre-pay online if the vehicle wont be available upon pick-up?). We ended up getting a smaller SUV for a cheaper price, but since I already pre-paid for my original vehicle, I got charged the full price and had to call customer service to initiate the refund. After all of this, we got the vehicle paperwork and the cashier told us to take a seat while they bring the vehicle from the lot to the front for pick-up. I though this would take anywhere from 10-15 minutes, we ended up waiting another hour for someone to bring our car. At this point I was running late for a meeting. Why does it take an hour to bring the car from the lot to the front? unless the cashier sold us a car they were waiting for someone to return. Fast-forward one week, the trip was over and I was doing normal daily tasks when I noticed a $657 hold on my account and received an automated message saying that my rental was still open and that I did not return my vehicle. I then spent about 2 hours combined talking to customer service, billing and the actual Sacramento Budget location to close my rental and so that they dont charge me $657. I have never had so many issues with renting a car or waiting that long after reserving a car ahead of time, next time I travel I will be looking elsewhere for a car.
We Landed at the airport at 11:00 p.m. The line was a little long for being so late but over all it was a really good experience.I didnt really agree with the price because we picked it up around midnight on Thursday and dropped it off around 10:00 a.m. Sunday so we didnt have it for a full 3 days but we were charged for 3 days. It was still under 200 though so the price wasnt too bad. Next time we need a rental Im definitely going to use budget.
Service was poor & extremely slow. The woman handling our transaction was very rude & apathetic. If we hadnt already paid ahead we would have cancelled right then and gone with a different company. There was also a gentleman ahead of us who was having troubles & running late & when he asked for a manager the other female associate was very rude and showed no concerns for him. Ill be sure to update how the return of the vehicle goes
I literally spent 2 hours in line waiting to get a car I previously rented and paid for while getting an email that I was late picking up my car. Then had to wait to get the car checked in and I was literally 5 minutes late according to your own receipt which resulted in an extra $64.99 fee for me.
I literally have gone thru hell trying to clear up a mistake that was completely out of my control. I was hassled for 2 weeks about a car not being returned when in fact it was returned the day scheduled. The attendant did NOT check in the vehicle and it caused a lot of grief. I was charged over $500 for a car I no longer had. I really liked budget until this happened. Unfortunately I will not be a returning customer because of this mishap. I hope that you all learn to communicate better and take better notes so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Good day!
Charged me for gas when I brought it back on full. Made up some other 11.5% charge. I put less than 75 miles over 4 days and was overcharged. Called in the am to dispute charge was hung up on, and went 38 miles over the 4 days. After some time and through email I was able to speak with someone reasonable. They fixed the charges and I paid what I was quoted. So not great, but I wont give up on them if they are trying to fix the issue.
Car reserved was not available. Waiting time in the line came close to 30 minutes despite being the 4th one in line. Car given was in great condition and worked very well. Drop off was a breeze. Would recommend the rental agreement have an area where the renter can walk around the vehicle and circle the areas of previous damage/scratches so he or she is not responsible for the damages. Otherwise, very good overall.
When I picked up my vehicle, it was a two and a half hour late with terrible customer service. Then once checked in for a pickup time of noon they put me for 12:51 which is when I checked in after the line but I had to stand on the curb for another hour and 15 minutes before they brought the vehicle I rented around. No apology no thank you no nothing. Upon returning my vehicle, I sat in the vehicle for 30 minutes with workers swimming all around to other customers. I get out and ask the gentleman if anybody can help me check in so I can go catch my flight. He says just leave the keys in the car and go ,very rudely. I asked is it okay to get my vehicle checked in and get a receipt and show that theres more gas than there even was when I took it out. He told me you will have to wait in a very Stern way and turned around. 20 minutes later he came to the vehicle and that okay you can go and handed me a slip of paper. It was just terrible customer service at this location and I will not be back to this location. It is a shame to spend this much money and choose budget only to be treated in such a terrible way both times at this location
Best price I could find for the vehicle I was looking for. The rental place in Sacramento airport was long but they had good service. I had no issues with Budget. Last time I rented a car from hertz they did not have the vehicle I needed due to a recall they did not take care off for the rental vehicle I requested a week ago even with a reservation so I was pleased with budget.
Price was awesome but i had to wait more than 30 minutes. Only two counters were manned initially. A 3rd counter was opened after 20 minutes. I booked for an economy car but they gave me nissan rouge. It was not an issue but i like to get what i asked for. Dropping off was super easy. When filling gas before returning the car I was surprised to see the gas price in Sacramento 75% more than in Denver.
Arrived at the rental car building after a 6 hour flight only to wait in line over two hours to get my rental car. There were only two employees behind the counter who moved very slow and seemed to be having constant difficulty with their systems and handling customers. After a two hour wait in line, I finally got to the front only to be told they did not have the car I reserved (mustang convertible) or a similar car for that matter. I was given a Jeep Wrangler and was told I could remove the top. A Jeep Wrangler and a sports car are not comparable to each other and get very different gas mileage. Other rental car companies in that same building had no lines whatsoever and Im sure would happily take my business if it wasnt too late to cancel my reservation while standing in line.
I ordered and prepaid on line. I get to pickup location, they tell me they have 0 cars available. They tell me all locations except airport are soon to close. 50 miles away. People behind counter, terrible costumer service. Location at Sacramento Airport bad at giving directions to proper pick up and drop off of rental car. Car smelled of cigarette smoke. Car was not clean.
Staff was friendly at the Sacramento Airport pickup; the car was in great condition and clean. We were very happy with the customer service at this location. The only reason it was a 4/5 was that we did have a complication with our car and the check engine light; so we went in for a swap and it was taken care of.
Completely lacking customer service. This would be a zero star rating if it would allow it. Upon arrival it took almost an hour for the runnner or what ever they are called to get us a vehicle after finishing at the counter. Now that we have dropped the car off and locked an item in it; its been absolutely impossible to contact someone at the front desk. Again the worst service we have ever had at a rental agency.
The guy who checked me in was not happy I did not buy insurance, or any other offers, pressed me on insurance, and switched the keys from me to give me the lowest riding car, a volkswagen jetta for 3 weeks. He made it like I was not getting what he first decided because I did not take insurance. I know the toyota would have been better for me I am old. His fellow worker just looked at him, like why... I just went with the flow. He was older, black african american on duty at 5pm Dec. 16th I want you to know this. I will ask that a manager is helping me at Budget SAC next time. I know its a hard job, but I also worked hard all year to pay for a budget car. Jean Stevens
With a name like Budget Car Rental I expected a low price but I did not expect the excellence I experienced. The price was lower then the other quotes I received by quite a bit. After making the reservation my plans changed at the last minute and I assumed I would lose the great price but Customer Service helped me modify my reservation, set up my business account and found a way to get me an even better rate. I felt like they were working for Me not Them. When I picked up the car they gave me a much nicer car for no additional charge. The Ford Fusion Hybrid was a fantastic car and it saved me a lot of money in fuel. Returning the car was simple, fast and friendly.Over all, I was extremely pleased and I doubt I will even bother comparing other companies the next time I need a rental car.A low budget price but definitely not a low budget experience.Thank you Budget Car Rental.
The pick up, drop off, and price were fine. The issue was: about 30 miles into my trip, an indicator light came on (triangle with exclamation point in the middle) came on. Not sure what the issue details were, since there were no other indicators. The oil temperature was high (220 degrees). Once I reached my first destination (another 70 miles through remote areas), I let the engine cool and discovered the oil to be a quart low. Researched the proper oil (full synthetic) and added the $10.00 quart of oil. You really need to pay attention to maintenance requirements. A) had the engine seized, it would not have been my fault, and B) the car could have left me stranded in the middle of nowhere with no cellular service.
Unprofessional agent on the Sacramento International Airport. She was unprofessional and very rude with lack of customer service skills set. I had a reservation from 5.30 AM to 11:30 PM and I arrived on the budget counter at 5:15 AM to pickup the car and my family was outside waiting on the street for me to pick them up. Unfortunately the budget counter agent showed at 6:10 AM and it was 6:45 AM when she asks me to for the documents. Then she told me the car is not ready and it might take a hour time, go and set on the chair. I asked her that my reservation is for 5:30 AM and it’s already 7:00 AM she told me it’s not my business and I am not here to answer your question. She told me go and set or you can cancel your reservation. Till 7:30 AM I called the customer service center five times and each time I spent 5 to 18 minutes on the phone with them but unfortunately no results. Finally while I was on the phone with a agent the counter agent called to pickup the car it was 7:45 AM 2:15 hours late then the reservation time with huge frustration. It was one of the worst experience I got from a car rental company.
The line took an hour and a half even with a reservation. The person working the counter just kept telling us we booked the wrong way instead of answering our basic questions. The car smelled like someone smoked weed in it just before we got it. Returning the car had no personnel to help so I ended up waiting in yet another understaffed long line just to close it out. Probably won’t ever use budget again.

2022-07-16The professionalism demonstrated during the rental checkout helped to ease the change in time of arrival. The price made a difference and the opportunity to walk up quickly provided the comfort that I selected the right rental company. The location of the car was easy to find. Clean inside and out( pictured below). The check back in was great. My receipt emailed to me by the time I got to the terminal. Thanks!

2022-06-28Rental counter experience was reasonable. Neither good nor bad per say. There was no customer service beyond the counter. Difficult to locate actual vehicle and vehicle itself was absolutely filthy inside and out. Trash and yard debris from previous renter. There was no checkout point either to sign off. Vehicle had not been washed or vacuumed. Windshield was covered in bugs. I stopped at the nearest store to buy disinfecting wipes to try and at least clean off steering wheel, door handles and shift knob. But it was pretty gross. In addition I had rented a midsize vehicle hoping for fuel economy and enough power for navigating bay area traffic. The only vehicle they had available was a crossover that did not have enough power to change lanes safely in busy city traffic. The engine would whine and spin but no power response to actually move the vehicle forward at acceleration. I returned the vehicle cleaner and with more gas than I had picked it up with. Theres really no excuse to not deliver a clean, well maintained rental vehicle.

2022-06-27I was very pleased with my rental from Budget! It process was easy, quick, and I had use of a very nice, clean, and well equipped car for my business trip. Twenty years ago, I wouldn’t have considered using Budget…I would have chosen AVIS, Enterprise, or Hertz. Clearly, Budget has gone out of their way to make the process of using a rental car easy and affordable. I really appreciate the quality of car & daily rate, and I will choose Budget over other rental companies that have forgotten to consider the customer experience is key to repeat business. Keep up the good work and keeping prices affordable!

2022-05-16The service at the time of picking up the vehicle was superb. I was so impressed by the speed and ease of getting the vehicle even without a reservation. It was late. After midnight on 5/13. The 2 gentleman that helped me were awesome and I need to mention them in this survey. The deserve a 10. I gave a 5 because I returned the vehicle at 3:45am on 5/15. There was no one there to check the vehicle in and I followed the written instructions on the wall of the attendant space. According to my paperwork, it was due at 11:59pm on 5/15. Today, I got my receipt and I’m being charged for an additional day because it’s been checked in on 5/16. I don’t appreciate that part. I need my whole deposit back. That’s not fair. I’m currently on pause waiting for customer service to call me back. When I get that additional fee refunded, I’ll update this review

2022-06-05Worst car rental experience ever! Prepaid and chose Fastbreak to save time since we were landing at 10:30pm. Called Budget location earlier that day to confirm that the Fastbreak would be open when we arrived - ensured it would be open until 12AM. When we arrived told Fastbreak was closed and had to wait 30 minutes for a car - this while getting the stink eye from all the other customers who did not choose Fastbreak and had to wait on line for 1 hour (we have a friend who was in that unfortunate situation). FIRST car I received, yes FIRST, was provided with marker writings all over the windows stating cracked windshield repair needed. It also was smaller than I reserved. I refused that car. The SECOND car provided came with an empty tank. See photo. That car also had to be returned. Glad I checked the tank since Budget clearly did not upon return. The THIRD car was provided with only three-quarters of the tank full. At that point, I was so frustrated and the kids were so tired, I drove off. I regret not taking a photo of that tank! With gas prices what they are now, that could easily have tacked on another $10-$15 on my rental. SUCH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Very disappointed with Budget.

2021-08-27I seriously dont know why I do this. Im sitting here at the airport with a long line of customers and Budget has one inept representative with that not so bright look on their face who couldnt hit the floor if they fell on it. Every other company booth is fully staffed but I guess Budget figured torturing customers with stupidity and terrible service was better. I have rented with them because of their prices, but this is not worth it and will never again, Id rather pay double for competency and good service. Plus I think Budget has the dumbest customers. This guy at the counter now doesnt understand why he needs a major credit card that works and wont let it go, trying to get a hold of his credit card company for 15 mimutes now.. The representative cant seem to give an answer, nor take someone else until its resolved or not, so terrible and weird. Almost every customer is like that. Well I guess terrible brings terrible. Budget is terrible.

2021-10-06Made my reservation to pick up my rental car at 2pm and it’s currently 2.30pm. There was 3 agents by the kiosk and now we’re down to 1, when the line barely moved. I’ve been queueing since 1.40… This is just ridiculous. Judging by how slow the line moves, it probably would take me another 30+ mins to get my rental.I also would like to emphasis that it’s not this one agent’s fault. It’s a management issue and perhaps a scheduling issue from Budget. He is doing his best to get the line moving.

2022-06-14At the SACRAMENTO AIRPORT 3 rental car services share the same line. At the budget line there were 3 at the most working to expedite their customers. Mostly 2. We waited 2 hours from the time we were dropped at the center until we stepped into our vehicle. It was hot no place to sit No one telling us what was going on. I’m sure budget has a list of customers coming in hopefully you know how many customers are coming through on any given day. Your director of operations needs to come up with a kiosk type of sign in system! So once we made it to the counter and confirmed our reservation we were told to wait and someone would call our name when the vehicle was pulled around. Again we waited and waited 25 minutes went by then we start asking where the vehicle is. It finally pulls around after some guy walking around talking to people got involved. It was a white suburban which needed wiper fluid and had multiple dings in the body. We were not asked to walk the vehicle to confirm any damage upon taking possession. Water marks on the side mirrors mad it difficult to see ou of them. The vehicle was comfortable and served our purpose but upon having it for several days the windshield was spotted and buggy but no fluid in the well. There has to be better way to do business if it was just slow service or just poor up keep you could call it a bad day but both tells me it’s poor management no checks and balances. I can honestly say from this experience I will only use budget if I absolutely have too!

2022-01-23This was the worst experience ever, the worst customer service. At the front desk of Budget I was told the can not take the deposit because the name in the reservation was different from the card holder. If that is true, how you already were able to make the charge for the car rental? Then, a guy from Expedia spoke over the phone with the guy at the front desk of Budget about changing the name of the reservation but both were not able to do it? I asked with both of them to help me with the cancellation and they said they were not able to do that neither. And by the end the guy from Budget scolded me saying: if you dont have enough money, dont rent a car! Excuse me!? that was not the problem at the first place! Is this the service you are expecting to provide? Literally making discrimination for some strange reason? The worst experience on my sisters birthday.

2022-04-26I rented a car at Sac Airport. I prepaid and ended up not needing the car but for about 28 hrs. No refund per pre-paid policy. I thought it would be fun to rent the mystery car and it ended up being a full size pick up truck that will suck fuel but I expected as much. I wasnt happy about no credit for the short rental time so the customer service offered me a Jeep Compass at no extra charge. I returned it full of Fuel. I checked my bill today, no $250 dep. refund guess its the standard 7-10 business days.(but never has a car rental taken that long) I noticed a $53.31 charge billed the same day of the return. I did have a mystery credit of $20.68. That would make the total rental cost $190.48. But at this time I am into it for $518.15 on my American Express and a 28 hour car rental for $268.15. I tried to call Budget but the hold time was over 30 minutes so I opted for a call back. I wonder why Customer Service is flooded with calls, NOT. I have a receipt for $211.16 so I do hope to get my deposit back soon as well as the additional mystery charge of $53.31. Never again.
