Short review: convenience store for the well to do.Long review: upscale place on Coronado so its not cheap. But it is good quality. You can think of it as either a tiny grocery store or a real nice convenience store. It has cold drinks but not a lot of selection. It has good produce but not a lot of selection. They make sandwiches which I havent had but the cookies are real good. If you want to treat yourself or grab something nice to bring to a gathering this place is ideal. If you need groceries for the week Id recommend someplace else.
This place has a deli! And let me tell you a little something something, there sandwiches are phenomenal! And to top it off their prices on a fresh deli sandwich can not be beat! I work on the island of coronado a couple times a week. And these are by far the best bang for your buck on the entire island! Maybe even the whole city!
Boneys is Coronados only store of its type. Health oriented. Yes, its small but they carry many popular items..fresh pressed juice, deli with things like turkey chilli, good produce, protein powder..etc... focus on natural. They do have a parking lot too. Friendly staff. Clean.
Boneys re uses its meat and seafood. If youve ever purchased marinated meat or seafood its a lot older then you think. Things can sit in the marinades for about a week after already being in the service case or pre packaged area for 4-5 days. Ground beef, ground pork and chicken all get ground in the same grinder and theres never a cleaning in between.
Just left the store which I go to 2 times a week for fresh good food. While shopping I received a call from my grandmother which I always take. While wearing a mask it was hard for her to hear me. I made a point to find a spot away from customers essentially pinning myself against the freezer section that had no one around me and pulled my mask just below my mouth. Then suddenly one of the staff came up on me aggressively demanding I pull my mask up. I told granny I would have to call her back. The new distancing rule from CDC is 3 feet for more than 15 minutes. I clearly meet that and was frustrated this employee had to play security guard. I wanted to walk out and leave my cart but I have always supported Deb Boney during this challenging time and checked out with a couple hundred dollars of goods. Deb please ask your employees to use good judgment in how they treat your customers. Also fully vaccinated and I know that’s different conversation.
This is a great market, with lots of variety and excellent fresh produce. They have the BEST, fresh deli sandwiches and salads. The cooked salmon in the deli case is really good and I also liked the broccoli gorgonzola salad. The hot tri-tip steak is delicious! If you are visiting Coronado, this is definitely worth stopping for!
Excellent place for well-priced, fresh produce. The meat counter is also good. The deli counter has sandwiches, coffee and smoothies made to order (great for lunch). Dry goods are a bit pricy. Rarely a wait for check out. If they see more than a couple people in line, they usually open up another register. Employees are friendly and helpful.
I go to Boneys every other day, my mood instantly lifts walking through the door! The cheese selection is great also the beer and wine are local and a top notch selection. And theres a wine chiller. The chocolate here is impressive, baguettes are fresh the thick cut bacon is a must, blood oranges and heirloom tomatoes are best here. Great place to go to treat or impress. Also good natural skincare products. Employees are so pleasant too!
Love Bonnie’s and used to go there on the time when we used to live there. Whenever I was in a bad mood, going there made me feel better instantly somehow. I miss this chicken/cheese pasta salad so much. Forgot what it’s called. Can someone help me out? Definitely will stop by if I ever get a chance to go back to Coronado❤️
The store is okay; we routinely shop there absent local options (although those days are over). My issue is with the owner who, although happy to take money from service members serving at the local bases, does not support service members... I know this because I live by her and she is continually calling the police (she boasts about it no less) to get the cars of service members who reside on the street towed if they happen to be out at sea for training, etc. and have not moved their car in 72 hours. Get over yourself already... there are plenty of other problems in the world.
Wont go back because the woman at the check out had her entire face covered -- her head covered with a hoodie -- gloves on her hands -- long sleeve sweatshirt with other street clothes on underneath -- and talked with me thru a microphone on her chest. I respect life and other people too much to pretend that life is so nutty [or dangerous].
Sharing this in hopes that the Deli gets their stuff together. I ordered several sandwiches over the phone and walked in 20 minutes later. I was waiting and waiting at the pick up counter. When I would go up closer to the window the employees would just glance at me and pretend Im not there. I finally asked about my sandwiches and the girl walked over to the other side of the kitchen and got them. Apparently theyve been ready and just sitting there. This review couldve been a positive one if the employee actually apologized. But instead she handed me the sandwiches and walked away, seemingly too bothered to even say anything. Fix your staff
Rode the ferry over to Del Coronado, as we are walking towards downtown, we stopped in the market for lunch. Excellent food, fresh fruit and other healthy food items, and the prices are reasonable. Freshly made sandwiches, with other hot and cold food. The staff was great.
I would do negative stars. I have a medical issue that does not allow me to wear a mask and I was accosted by a clerk as I entered the store. I explained I could not wear one and asked if I could hold my sweater over my face and she said I could order online or not shop there. I am tempted to sue you over the Americans with Disabilities act. She was not only rude she was loud and was trying to SHAME me about not being able to wear a mask. DO NOT GO THERE EVER!!!
I had the most productive experience there to date. I found items that I have been looking for for sometime. Lately grocery shopping has been such a drag bc of the pandemic. Shelves are so empty even tho we supposedly have all the food we had b4. Example: I havent been able to buy split green peas nowhere, no how since this started.Boneys had it !!!! I am elated. Thats only one. They had 4 other items I have been searching for & some I wasnt. So to say, I was in hog heaven is a huge understatement. This pandemic was beginning to get me down, but Boneys rescued me. They fell short in 2 areas but today was a win, win.
The sandwiches at the deli are amazing, however, the wait is unacceptable. We just spent 30 minutes in the store waiting for our sandwiches and once we were given our sandwiches they told my friend they ran out of chicken for hers. Which means they didnt even start making a sandwich that was ordered 30 minutes prior or notify us that they ran out. I also dont know if they actually ran out of chicken or if they just didnt want to make this particular sandwich because one of the worked yelled to another employee, Someone else needs to take care of the chicken parm sandwich because Im not doing it, and then he walked away. So unprofessional and I am embarrassed about the service considering my friend is visiting from Australia and this makes American service look bad.
My friend and I arrived at the counter at 8:30pm with goods(2 items) in our hands. Not only the lanes were closed, we were told to come around to the next cashier. As we approached the cashier name Sam, she had gathered the goods from the customer behind us and rung the lady up who also had two items. She dropped that customers chocolate bar on the ground and instead of picking it up, she had the audacity to let the customer know the chocolate candy bar fell onto the ground. Horrendous at this sight, we returned our products and quickly left the store. We will not be coming to this store again.

2022-04-06It’s very difficult to find many gluten free options on the island. Vons and Smart and final lack having gluten free options, making it difficult to find anything to eat. We live on a boat, and spend a days a week here in Coronado. We recently decided to stop in to check what they had and was super excited to see all the options available. So many options!Although wonderful, the only down side, they do not offer food stamps, so I am limited to come in and only get what the other two stores may not offerVery clean store, great customer service. Watch the “gluten free” labeling, found a Amy’s soup labeled gluten free, when it clearly said wheat.

2022-06-24Went to shop the other day for some deli sandwiches and they were the best in town. I discovered that they carry different types of organic products and fresh meats. But the best of all was the customer service that I received during check out. Gilberto went out of his way to help me out in finding the right product I was looking for. He was very help and kind. I saw the expericence he has behind the cash register and how he is an asset to the store. Good job Gilbert, Ill definetly be back.

2021-03-21I love this cute local market. It located at a very nice spot, a couple blocks to the ferry landing pier. It’s convenient for people to grab and go. The market is not big, but it has all people need, with good and various products. There’re a lot of local things that you can find at this place, such as the local wines, beers and pastries. I am so looking forward to trying the Coronado local wines which has a lovely Coronado Island map on the label. I heard their deli food is great too, I’ll grab a sandwich next time I go there. By the way, I really love their paper bag’s illustration graphic. To be honestly, my husband thought it was my drawing at the beginning since my art style is so similar to that. It is beautiful artwork for this cute market! I love it.

2021-08-14Really enjoyed this market. It has fresh produce, is clean, and the prices are extremely reasonable. My sandwich was $4.95! In what world do they make sandwiches for $5 anymore?! So awesome. Would highly recommend checking this place out for a simple lunchtime on Coronado.

2021-10-04Stopped in Boneys right quick this afternoon to grab snacks for the family.Pretty nice little market. Seems to specialize in niche grocery items of the organic/vegan/keto/Paleo/gluten free varieties. They did not have any single serving bottles of plain milk, unfortunately, but we were able to find everything else we needed. The deli is particularly well stocked and the workers there were helpful.Parking lot is attached to the store and plentiful.

2021-08-23The deli here was great! $7 for a MASSIVE sandwich; honestly you could split one sandwich between two people. The smoothies were so tasty as well. A great stop when visiting Coronado!
