The staff are amazing. The location is perfect for a hotel that isn’t on the beach. Orange street has a lot of fun shops. The reason for the 4 star rating is that the pool is kind of a joke. It’s almost like it exists simply for the ability to say that there is a pool.
Positive: The location. This hotel is close to all the restaurants. The price is reasonable compared to other hotels in Coronado. Negative: At first,we were given a room closed to a very busy street. The a/c was noisy and traffic was terrible even at night. We could not sleep at all.The next day,we complained and we were given another room away from street. Everything went fine from then on.
Wi-Fi didnt work, Pool was closed, The guy that handed out breakfast was so annoyed like I was bothering him. For the amount and name brand of the room I was very disappointed. I had a better experience at the Best Western in Old Town San Diego. Only good park was the hotel was close to everything, but then again its an island and everything is close so pick a different hotel!
If you found my review helpful, please like it 👍🏼.🎉 Despite the mixed reviews, we actually had a good three night stay at Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island in the San Diego area of California. We would recommend Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island to our friends and family. Moreover, we felt really safe with their precautions during the coronavirus pandemic protecting both the guests and staff. We chose Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island given its free parking for our rental car, free wireless internet, free breakfast and snacks, and free passes to a nearby gym. Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island was in a very convenient location given its closeness to the main roads (Orange Avenue & Third Street), 15 minute drive from ✈️ San Diego International Airport (SAN), grocery stores (Smart & Final Extra!, Boneys Bayside Market), and walking distance to the many local spots such as the beach and pier to enjoy the beautiful San Diego skyline. We really appreciate the elevators and stairs to the garage, ground floor, and other rooms for easy accessibility and opportunities for social distancing. At the hotel, we had an accessible suite (room 209) that had a double bed and a wide accessible door to divide between the living room and bedroom for us to focus on our meetings, work, and sleep. Although the room can easily have four guests, it is more than comfortable for two people. There were a variety of things we enjoyed in our room including, but not limited to: television in the living room and bedroom; multiple drawers to store our clothes and items; spacious accessible bathroom; and a small kitchenette with a granite counter, sink, Keurig machine, microwave, and refrigerator. If you are worried about your privacy, just keep those inner blinds closed because the north side rooms face the neighbors backyard 😂. However, the areas that the Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island could consider is to (1) improve the wireless internet experience including login and random slowness throughout the day; (2) consider furniture that is an actual working desk for those who need to work; and (3) ensure the bathroom fan is working to help with showers warm humidity. Although the pool was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we really enjoyed the modified grab and go breakfast where you can request multiple items (including vegetarian options) from the front desk that includes, but is not limited to: breakfast bowls / sandwiches / burritos, cereal bars, mini pies, yogurt, hard boiled egg, cereal, dairy and almond milk, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, V8 vegetable drink. During the other hours, you can also request other items that includes, but is not limited to: granola bars, sweet or salty snacks (e.g. Rice Krispies Treats, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, Wheat Thins, etc.), coffee, and teas. As they say, an early bird gets the worm so the availability of your favorite breakfast items and snacks are first come first served! Moreover, whenever we had any issues during our stay, the staff were wonderful in addressing our needs and would try to be reasonably accommodating. The staff were not only very humble and kind but they even had a sense of humor including a down-to-earth woman named Esperanza. All in all, we would definitely recommend Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island to our friends and family.
We had a great room. The staff were very helpful and we loved the center courtyard. The pull out bed was surprisingly comfortable. Our only con was the carpet on the floor. Walking barefooted turned our feet BLACK. We had to wear shoes all the time. The rest of the suite was very clean.
Reserved a double queen with sofa bed (for good reason) room. Got a single king with sofa, terribly inaquate. Management not accommodating or willing to budge. Rooms are old and worn. Garage parking is underground, dark and scary. Extremely disappointing and made for a less than happy experience.
I have been traveling to Coronado/imperial about 20years. You go to Coronado and expect a certain quality… This definitely is not worth the price! Wallpaper peeling, paint chipping. Pull out couch and yet no blankets for it. Two tiny pillows. Dirty old itchy couch and chairs. Tv remotes broken. Door lock broken. Fridge won’t get cold. We ordered a crib for the baby and they brought towels for linens? I can go on and on….I have never been so disappointed in a MOTEL. Overall outdated and expensive, go elsewhere.
Very comfortable and clean room. The breakfast was not only tasty but had healthy options including Greek yogurt, sauteed vegetables, and scrambled eggs. Its not beachfront but I found it incredibly convenient to walk or bike around. They even have courtesy bikes to use, free of charge!Additionally, the people at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful.
Decent hotel at going price within this location. Was a 5 min walk from bay side and 1.3 mile walk from ocean side. Very decent eggs at breakfast (closest to cook to order Ive tasted at a hotel). Very clean room both days we stayed!! Only thing semi sad was the size of the pool/hot tub. Pool depth only went to 3.5 and hot tub capacity rated for 3 people. We still thoroughly enjoyed the amenities though.
It was a nice size room with all the amenities. At the time it was the most affordable room on Coronado Island so we took it. The website profile of the exterior does look nice. But it is in dire need of a make-over. The decor & the smoke, musty order is something from the 70s. It just looks dark, dreary, & old. Some light colors & new furnishings would help. The staff was very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was good but closes at 9 Am on week days, so dont plan to sleep in. There is a nice pool & hot tub, there is outdoor patio area & all rooms open to the outside which was nice.
Positive: Walking Distance to Ferry Landing and Restaurants Negative: The rooms are dated, beds were not comfortable, construction was being done in courtyard next to our room and nothing was ever noted when our reservations were made. Very disappointed with the room for what we paid.
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Great location. Many things to walk to in the area. Refrigerator missing in my room so I was moved to new room. Refrigerator in that room didn’t work. I was offered a complimentary up grade to a room with a working one. The bathroom layout in the larger room is odd. The sink is outside in the sleeping area. The beds in all the rooms are doubles instead of the traditional queens offered at most hotels. The price is a little high, but given the area and free parking it was acceptable. I would definitely stay again.
This Best Western has been our go-to hotel since we began visiting Coronado Island. It is very well situated close to the Ferry Landing area, and about a mile walk to the Hotel Del on the other end.Rooms are always clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is well-prepared and quite ample. Hot items include proteins and vegetables. Continental breakfast items include a wide variety of bakery products, fresh fruit, coffee, milk, cereal and juices. Great way to start the day.The swimming pool is a relazing place to take a dip. The hot tub is very comfortable.Im sure we will be going back.
I had ants crawling around even though I was on the third floor. I usually stay here when I am visiting Coronado, so it is a nice place. The rooms are suites. But I think its time to update some furniture. Also, the refrigerator was rusted in the bottom. The carpets need changes. The elevator moves way too slooooow. The workers are nice. The front desk people were welcoming. The cleaning crew was friendly and accommodating. The flush handle on the toilet in my bathroom was not working properly, and it needed to be replaced. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars.
Had a fantastic and phenomenal stay here. All the staff members are soooo nice and very welcoming. They gave great suggestions on things to do and places to eat. Super super super clean. They have a very strict sanitizing policy for Covid 19. From grabbing a quick snack at the breakfast station behind the front desk to asking random questions...they handled everything with gloves and face mask. I was sooooo happy to see this. Thank you all for working in such crazy conditions and abiding by the rules. You make it possible for personnel on travel to visit and stay in a safe and super clean environment while meeting new people everyday. I pray that the staff will remain safe during these times and may God always bless the works of your staff hands.
We travelled with our grandchildren to San Diego and stayed 2 nights. The hotel staff were excellent, especially the staff at breakfast who went out of their way to assist us. Our rooms were spacious and very clean, the beds were comfortable and no problems with noise. The breakfast was also excellent with plenty items to choose from. We will definitely be returning here when we next visit San Diego, most probably stay here for a longer duration.
Clean, good air conditioner, adequate toiletries, free parking which is very important. This time, however, the room we got was along Orange Rd and the noise of vehicles passing by was too much. The traffic noise started at 5 am, We needed to request for a room change, much smaller but definitely quieter.
Stayed here this past week and was a little disappointed. The pictures definitely over exaggerated how nice the hotel was. The price definitely was not reasonable in my opinion.Air conditioners were leaking left and right and towels lay all around the walkways.A lady was smoking marijuana in the courtyard so I was forced to rush to and from my room with my 1 year old. Staff said nothing. No parking for vehicles over 7ft tall so my truck had to sit on the road in a high traffic area.
From all hotels we visited during our two week trip, this was the most expensive and unfortunately one of the worst ones. Room was dark, and smelled clammy. AC was loud and you couldnt run if present in the room. While the room was quite big and you have the possibility to have the kids on a sofa bed in a separate room, the bathroom was incredible small. Jacuzzi and pool were nice, but the Jacuzzi was so full with chlorine that the skin starts burning and the bath trousers of the kids lost their colour. Location indeed is very good.
Very clean and comfortable, nice to have a Keurig and assorted coffee and tea pods in the room. Didnt try the pool. Had a tub/ shower combo with a retractable clothes line where you could hang swimsuits to dry. Great breakfast included and free parking!! We would definitely book again!
We reserved weeks in advance and for a 5 night stay. We were given 1 of 2 of the worst room locations in the hotel. We had an unattractive alley wall in the back and in the front was a dark wall. We could not open our curtains. They should have given a room with either a courtyard look in the front or a street look (or a side of building). They could have easily done both. That said the motel courtyard was lovely. The breakfast were good. I would stay again with location request. Helpful staff.
Location was top notch. Parking facility was acceptable although the parking spaces were a bit confined with the large size of most vehicles today. The elevator was quite slow. Check in and out was a problem. General cleanliness of room was good except the odor of cleaning products. All rooms should be non smoking.
I was very disappointed with the pictures put on the internet, they were very deceiving. The pool could only accommodate 8 people and the hot tub only 3, not good for our party of 4... I had called several times to ask about things nearby and was assured all were within walking distance, also not true. A mile can be a long way for those of us with some difficulty walking. The cost was well over $300 per night and it just so wasnt worth it. In fact, we left a day early so we could try to enjoy some place else.
So when you book here you should know pretty quickly that youre not staying in a luxury resort and its not on the beach. That being said, knowing we were on a budget for this leg of the trip, and its just a place to rest your head, we didnt expect much. This place has the friendliest staff, is super clean, convenient, free breakfast and free parking! Use the free island shuttle bus to get around too!
The rooms are old with cheap plumbing fixtures and its overpriced because its Coronado. But its clean, the staff is friendly, & the bottom line is location, location, location!Coronado is a wonderful place for the family. Beaches, quiet streets and you can walk or bike to food, shops, stores or parks.
Great location and fair pricing for 2 bedroom units for the quality they provide. Free bikes for guests to borrow and gym passes/kits. Staff is friendly and prompt. Drive extra, extra slow on the way in to the parking lot or youll bump the bottom of your car pretty hard. Elevator could use an upgrade... youll understand why if you take it.
Stayed at the hotel for Comic-Con San Diego. The hotel is very clean. I was worried about its location on the busy corner but did not even notice the traffic. The breakfast has was good variety. The Coronado bus stops are just up the street and it is a short walk to the ferry to get to downtown. There is underground parking but it is tight hight wise. We did not use the pool or hot tub but the pool would be nice and watch Coronado on the corner.
Customer Service was terrible, very rude front desk. We call a week in advance to make confirmation and the gentleman was very condisending and rude, it also said the pool was under construction which it was not, will not becoming back again. Unfortunately this used to be a great place to stay, not that way anymore.
Great location on Coronado island with a short walk to the beach or the shops and restaurants in the area. The commute to the North Island military base is only about 5 minutes in rush hour, beating any other hotel Ive stayed at in the San Diego area. The rooms are your typical hotel room with nothing special, but I also have no complaints about them. The breakfast is expansive and fairly good quality that starts serving at 5 AM. Would happily stay at this hotel again.
This hotel was super convenient to all the tourist places we went in San Diego (Balboa Park, Petco Park, Midway) as well as within easy walking distance to restaurants, a small grocery, and the beach in Coronado. The free parking (small parking garage) was a definite plus as we did have a rental car for our stay. The breakfast room was always well stocked and fresh and there is outdoor seating nearby if the room gets full. One washer/dryer which was useful after time at the beach. Lovely little pool for the one day our son decided to forgo the beach. The only downside was a detectable odor in the room -- it wasnt horribly unpleasant so we never said anything to the office and it wasnt noticeable after a bit in the room nor did it linger in clothes but it was there. This will definitely be a place well look to stay when we find ourselves in San Diego again and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others visiting the area too.
I had to stay here for work for about 2 weeks in March. I was very happy with my stay. First of all, they offer per diem which made going to the naval base very convenient (others stayed downtown and had to drive in). There is a lot of stuff within walking distance (restaurants, stores, shops, etc). These rooms are great for someone who is staying there for extended times. They have laundry facilities, the kitchenette area (mini fridge, microwave, sink, counter-top) area was perfect for making meals in the room if I didnt feel like going out to eat. The staff was always very friendly and courteous. The only drawback I can think of is that the rooms are a little run down. But nothing that would cause me to knock them down a star.
The rooms were clean and the hotel was easy to find. The beds were very uncomfortable and the walls were very thin. I was woken up every morning by hearing people in the rooms next door. You can clearly hear the showers running, people walking and definitely the doors slamming. Also, there was hair in the breakfast buffet one morning. Definitely cannot recommend this place.
Friendliest staff Ive come across in a hotel ever and Im in hotels 150+ nights per year. Had some struggles checking in because I booked the wrong room. They went out of their way to get me the bigger room I needed. The place is clean and recently redone. The parking is free, breakfast (which is better than most) is free, and the wifi is free. The lady attending breakfast made pancakes to order for the guests. Such a friendly, refreshing place. Not a 5 star hotel, but definitely 5 star service and worth 5 stars here.
I was very impressed with this Best Western Hotel. The staff could not have been more receptive to our needs. We had questions about the local area and needed directions which they provided. It was one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. They even wiped down the leaves on the large plants by the front desk. Impressive. Also very impressive breakfast. We will be staying again.
Recently stayed five nights at the end of August and as usual enjoyed the experience. Have been coming to the BW Coronado for many years and the experience has been consistently good. The rooms are comfortable, the service friendly and efficient and the free breakfasts have an ample selection. The only complaint I have is that the hotel needs to upgrade its WI-FI capability. The free WI-FI is nice but in the evening, when the most people want to get on, it bogs down to a crawl. However will keep coming back.
The hotel itself was nice and clean. Our family appreciated the breakfast options. There were several major issues, however: the wifi barely worked, and our phones could not get ANY signal on this property. We had to walk down the street every time we needed to make a call. No balcony on the 2nd floor suite, so there was no place to dry towels and swimsuits. No fan or proper ventilation in the bathroom, which is a problem with 5 people using one bathroom and taking showers. The fridge barely made things cool. All of this made for a rather uncomfortable experience.Overall, we would only stay here again if the BW Palms across the way was booked again.
Great location, easy parking, decent rooms and price. Extensive breakfast with too many options to list. Would stay again.Only issue is on the bathroom door theres a weird metal plate thats kinda dangerous. Total liability hazard. Suprpised no one has been injured and sued. Caught my hand on the edge a couple of times. See photos.
For this area - good price. room has fridge, small microwave, coffee, decent size closet lounge chair, desk, two nightstands. Nice breakfast, lots of choices- boiled eggs, yogurt, string cheese, danishes, many breads, eggs, potatoes, waffles, juices, milk, fruit, peanut butter, turkey sausage, cereal , oatmeal, and open about 4 hours. Good location except for being on a corner at a one way street. If you have no car or and only walking or looking for a great view, might not be your best choice, but you will pay double. lotion, shampoo, conditioner in bathroom.
This hotel is a good bargain for Coronado Island. It is centrally located and within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and the bed is really comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And they offer a good breakfast too.
Loved this Hotel! Amazing value, great location. Easy access to San Diego attractions. Beautiful island. They have everything you could need, INCLUDING FREE BIKE LOANERS. Biking around Coronado Island is a wonderful experience. With Breakfast, Wi-fi, AND Bikes included, this hotel really is a deal. I would highly recommend staying here.
Great location and price was decent for Coronado Island. There is no workout facility onsite, but they do have bikes that you can use for a two hour period (free), which was nice. The rooms are clean and the staff is very nice. Parking is below hotel which was appreciated, due to limited space anywhere for parking.
The rooms were very nice and we would have like to stay but we found bed bugs on both beds in our double bed room. Had to leave to another hotel late at night but Estaban an employee there was very helpful and sincere for us. He offered us a great deal but we had to turn it down because we did not want to sleep on the beds even though they were going to be cleaned. But yes Esteban was a very great helper and did an excellent job with helping us decide.
Excellent property in the heart of Coronado. Easy walking distance to area activities and attractions. Island shuttle stop across the street. The only negative was the advertised free parking. A sign on check-in stated one parking spot per room. There were 2 cars for our room. This limited free parking should be advertised on the hotel site.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and loved it. Coronado Island is really safe and quiet, the hotel might not be that big and fancy but overall is great. It has free parking underneath the hotel, it has an elevator, ice machine, pool, laundry room, bike rent for free and ice machine. The free breakfast is a big plus as well, and Centenial Park is a 4 minute walk from this hotel, planning on coming back to San Diego and im definitely coming back to this hotel Big Western.
My husband took me here for my birthday weekend and our stay has gone down as the absolute worst hotel experience we have had in our 2000+ nights of married hotel stays. Our complaints about our noisy, rude, profane and belligerent neighbors were initially ignored (11:30 pm). My husband walked to the office and woke the night clerk (Nick) and complained. We made another complaint around 1:00 am, and I finally got dressed at 2:14 am and walked to the front desk. After waking Nick up (again) I asked him what could be done, because I was ready to leave the property and find another hotel. He responded with, Well, I guess I can tell them they have to be quiet. WHAAAAT?? It became clear that his reported previous interventions had been fabricated. My husband and I finally decided at 5:30 am to go get some breakfast, since we certainly hadnt been able to sleep. Our experience with the breakfast staff was underwhelming to say the least, and when we kindly inquired about one of the buffet items (waffle batter) we were greeted with a dramatic sigh, and essentially ignored. We ended up settling for a package that included 2 hard boiled eggs which we took back to our room and each had one. Our neighbors had finally passed out, and we were able to get 2 hours of sleep before we had to leave and drive the 5 hours back to Las Vegas. Upon checking out, we met the day clerk, Esteban. Our 15 minutes with him, was the absolute highlight of our hotel stay. Esteban was kind, understanding, and a true professional. After being made aware of how our repeated noise complaints were handled (or more accurately NOT handled) he offered us a 15% discount on our stay. He told us he knew that was certainly not enough to make up for how inappropriately our situation was handled. We love Coronado, and have spent a significant amount of time there, but this was our first and last experience at the BW Suites Hotel Coronado Island.
Not anything super fancy, but comfortable bed, good hot shower, outdoor lobby thats kind of awesome. Internet was fast and reliable. Breakfast was hot and had good selection of choices. A little expensive for what was offered, but from what I understand youre going to pay more for less anyway when you stay on Coronado Island (Im not from the area).
Picking up a relative from out of town at this hotel. I am from out of town as well. Theres ample parking underground but I did not see a sign going to it. I couldved missed it if I wasnt really looking. The room sizes varies from what Ive seen as I walked up to my relatives room. Some were open as they were being cleaned. Theirs was the smallest from what Ive seen and the wifi does not reach there room too. I dont really know what to expect in Coronado but if the town is small, the hotel looks decent and not what looking compared to others.
This is a nice basic hotel. Clean and comfortable. Room has microwave and fridge. My room was facing Orange Avenue. I wasnt able have the window open to get fresh air, but the HVAC worked and was not noisy. There is a pool and hot tub area. Nothing fancy. They offered a hot breakfast, very early, from 5 to 9. It is mostly microwaved, eggs, sausage, biscuits, french toast and potatos. They also have contintental breakfast items. Its a free breakfast, what can i say.IMO its a bit overpriced, but you are paying for the location. A few blocks from the bay, centennial park and ferry landing where there are shops and restaurants. So if you are taking the ferry in, its just a short walk. You can rent a bike there too and take nice ride along the path. Very pretty views of the bay, bridge and San Diego skyline. Tartine is across from the park and has a full menu, but i had only coffee and pastries, very good. There is a great little market with deli a block from the hotel you can get freshly made sandwiches for about $5.The hotel is about a mile and a half from Coronado beach. It is walkable, but a long walk. About 3 blocks from the hotel, you will start to see shops and restaurants. Day and Night Cafe has good inexpensive mexican food. During the summer there is a free bus that runs down Orange avenue toward Hotel Del Coronado every 15 minutes. But it is still about 3 block walk from where bus drops you off to the beach. The hotel does not provide beach towels, chairs or umbrellas. You will need to rent these on the beach $20 chair $30 umbrella.
Good price, nice new room, free wifi, free coffee/breakfast.Bare minimums service wise. One luggage cart and one set of washer and dryer for entire hotel. Located next to FREE shuttle stop so its a good option if you are looking for less luxurious & convenient hotel in Coronado.
Standard Best Western with refreshing open courtyard in the center which gives it a more distinct San Diego feel. Small but clean pool awkwardly sits on the corner of two busy streets but after a bit you find yourself people / traffic watching and its more enjoyable. Appropriately fast / efficient / friendly service. On the main drag of Coronado so finding food / grocery / shops is easy. Closer to bay side (10 min walk) than ocean side (20 min walk).
The BW in Coronado is conveniently located, can walk to many restaurants and shops. It has parking under it which is a plus. Breakfast foods are very good- fresh and hot or cold appropriately. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stay there annually July 3rd and 4th- to enjoy the Patriotic parade and spectacular fireworks. Despite the large crowds on the island, the hotel remains clean, quiet and staff is friendly. It is expensive, however.
Excellent place to stay for families, as it has full breakfast, free parking, it is located at a reasonable distance from some attractions like: the USS Midway Museum, Downtown SD, SD Zoo, Seaworld, Coronado Beach, Etc... finally, the service was great and the room was spacious. Would definitely recommend.
Best Western Coronado, CA is great value for the dollar. We stayed there for a 5 night get-away, and the service was wonderful, the room was very clean and fresh, and the free breakfast each morning was delicious. The location of this Best Western is very convenient to shopping and restaurants.
This hotel is a waste of money. There are other hotels on the island where you will get more for your money. The Wi-Fi is the worst of any hotel Ive ever been in, and after talking to the front desk about it, I was told the problem was on my end, because he could use YouTube on his phone just fine. The maids have turned off my ac while Im at work, so when I get back the room is over 100 degrees. The bed is uncomfortable, but that seems to be par for the course for best western. The blackout curtains let tons of light in, the ice machine tight outside my door is the loudest Ive ever heard. The furniture and bathroom have numerous cracks and wear, the chairs are worn through and uncomfortable. The only good things about it are location related, the property is pretty beat up and the pool and hot tub are tiny.I wont pay to stay here again.
We are BW customers and we discovered a nice BW plus on Coronado near the Ferry Terminal with breakfast included. The price was responsible for its location. It was on the main drag through Coronado with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance...the breakfast was very good with numerous choices and the fresh hot items for breakfast were very good. On-site free parking also a plus.
Ok, so the suite I stayed in would be 2 stars if the front desk wasnt so friendly. The rooms(even though they were supposed to have been recently renovated) were dimly lit, the pull out couch I slept on was extremely uncomfortable and bowed in toward the middle. It was the 2nd worst bed Ive ever slept in.(I cant speak for the main 2 beds though) The breakfast was ok. Most of the hot breakfast was cold. The drinks were cool, not cold. However, the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This, and the extremely good location on the island, were the only redeeming part of the motel. Again, this was an extremely good location, near lots of amazing restaurants and only a short walk to the ferry to go downtown. Last thing to be aware of, I dont drink since Im under 21, but several full, unopened bottles of adult beverages(that belonged to other people in the room who were of legal age) went missing after the maid came to clean the room. That was all that was missing though. Overall, this motel would be ok if you dont have to use the pull out couch. I would stay here again because of the price, but only 2 people to a room(or suite, which was what I was in). Also, if you want to split the cost of the room between multiple people, be very clear about that. Our whole room price was held on one card, which even though they didnt charge that card, the motel did put a freeze on $1800 of that cards $2000 limit; effectively rendering that card useless the rest of the trip. Lastly again, kudos to the front desk staff for their friendliness and helpfulness. If not for them, this would be a 2 star review. Happy Travels!
I had some family fly out and i got them a room at this best western because it’s near my house and they could drive or be picked up by me to go site seeing. The room was payed for and actually suppose to be a surprise for my family and a stress reliever to just check in. There was some small difficulty at check in because of the card having my name. so i had to drive over and clear it up which was sorta an inconvenience i feel like it could’ve been handled on the phone or more discreetly i wasted time before to make sure my family would only have to check in and we still had this problem. I’m not sure if i did something wrong but the rest of their stay was lovely just that one glitch that made for a hectic day
The only problem I had was at check in., my mom gave her card to have them charge for the room but after we got home we realize they still used my card for checkout. Even though they had taken her card and run it through the system. We are going to call tomorrow and try to get this straightened out .
My 2 girlfriends & I stayed @ the Best Western Coronado for the 2nd time. We meet in San Diego every 2 years. It was perfect because we could stay in a Suite. One gal stayed on the sofabed while 2 of us stayed in separate beds in the bedroom. For our situation it was just perfect! The parking is free & bkfst is included, which saves a lot each day!
Our family loves staying at the Best Western on Coronado. Free hot breakfast, free wifi, free parking and friendly, helpful staff! So convenient: super close to markets and restaurants, 5-minute walk to Ferry Landing, 7-minute walk to Tidelands and Sprekels parks, 20 minute walk to beach. We love it here!
Best Experience of the BW properties ever and I highly recommend the Coronado property if staying a little outside of San Diego City proper. Water taxi to Downtown every hour (moments away from BW). Regular auto taxi service with in a moments call. Great Breakfast and Fresh.
Coffee maker did not work, TV did not work, setting Alarm on clock did not work. Bed was not comfortable. I am not usually a complainer, but this was highly inadequate for the high price. However, hotel staff was nice, room was clean, and breakfast was great. Will not return there.
Would definitely stay again , very clean Hotel ! Im a stickler for that . From the room , the hotel itself and even the public bathrooms downstairs , Clean , Clean , Clean helpful staff very pleasant always a smile : )We havent stayed at a Best Western in about 20 years but this stay has changed our mind .We give you 5 stars would do more if possible ! : )
For a place that charges almost $300 on a Tuesday (not even s holiday), one expect much better amenities than the Target shower curtains and the Walmart furnitures. The bath shower tiles were those picked up on sale from Lowes and the contractor that did the tile work and the silicone work may have been drunk at the time. Even had multiple cracked tiles. Seriously, close to $300 and the carpet is 15 years old filthy.Look, if you want to play with the big boys and charge $300, then be a big boy hotel. I don’t want to have to lay in bed and look up to see poor dry wall patch work and also see cob webs. I turn my head to the side and see that not only is the wall paper not line up where two sheets meet, but the edges of the wall paper were peeling up.I may be in Coronado and this may be San Diego. But the walk way outside of our room, the courtyard; this was very much Motel 6.But I give it a 3 star because I did have a good night’s sleep.
Recently renovated, Best Western Coronado has the exterior look and feel of Coronado 50 years ago but the updated amenities one looks for in a hotel. An open air patio in the center of the hotel is perfect for those San Diego evenings, while the breakfast varies from day to day with fresh scrambled eggs, waffles, and a breakfast meat being a staple. Pastries, yogurt, oatmeal and some type of mexican accompaniment round out things nicely. Parking offered in a free underground garage beneath the hotel property and free bicycles available to hotel make visiting the local attractions easy. Walking distance from multiple restaurants and the ferry to downtown San Diego make this hotel a perfect fit for the working indivudual or the vacationing family. The rooms have all been remodeled and the bathrooms feel modern with granite counters. A fridge and microwave in each room, in addition to Keuring coffee maker complete the recipe for an enjoyable stay.
I only stayed for one night, but the hotel staff was very friendly and check in and check out. The breakfast room was really nice too. I thought the suites were plenty big with to separate rooms. My only complaint could be that getting in and out of the parking lot below the building is very steep and bottomed out my car.
This guys are horrible! The manager and staff dont know what they are doing. Waiting in the front desk is a routine. They are so slow. I had a problem with the bill. They billed me for something that I am not responsible for. I called to fix their mistake. The manager did not return my call and did not try to solve the problem. I just went to the bank and fixed the problem myself. I will never use this hotel again. Bad service. This place is a joke!
Good deal for coronado, staff was great, no problems with the room, even a hot breakfast every morning. They did say high speed internet, but it was slow as the oldest dial up modems, so if you need good internet access for your work, you should probably look elsewhere

2022-04-05Positive: The breakfast was very generous, lots of choices. The room was clean, but a bit on the small side. The breakfast staff were very nice & attentive: both super nice & kept everything well stocked. Negative: There was a bit of street noise(cars/traffic)coming through window as some rooms are close to a busy corner.I would stay again but ask for a room away from street corner. Beds are okay;probably due for an upgrade or a memory foam topper. Pool/spa is small

2022-06-12Positive: Location is great. Close to restaurants and the bay side of Coronado. The breakfast was good with a nice variety. The room was fairly good sized and had plenty of seating. Negative: The parking is terrible. A small garage under the hotel with very tight spaces. The breakfast closed at 9:00 and it would¿ve been nice if it went a little later. No maid service and 5 nights is too long without trashes being emptied and towels changed.

2022-03-15Positive: Staff so helpful, great variety of grab and go breakfast items, snacks, beautiful location, safe, parking included, big rooms. Negative: Just covid procedures so we never had floors vacuumed which would have been nice staying there 4 nights. Switching out our towels, etc. Could hear traffic.

2021-12-22Nice big room. Clean. It smells like some one has smoked in my room. Nice breakfast set up. Parking garage is not clearly marked could use a sign light. They do not clean your room or empty your trash each day. I was booked for 10 days so unless I have a problem they will not disturb my room. Desk person. Signed me in and then since I have a hard time walking carried up my luggage for me. I asked for an extra pillow and he brought me some. I did not go in the pool it was cool outside. I looked at it but it did not look very clean.

2022-06-02Breakfast was a bit underwhelming. No waffles, just toast or bagels. Other than that, the rooms were clean and the front desk people were friendly(especially Juan!!!). Great location and walkability. Would recommend, just go elsewhere for breakfast.

2021-08-27This hotel is great! Its small but super cute, clean, perfectly located, and the staff have all been wonderful. The room is clean and nicely sized. Grab and Go breakfast due to covid, which is understandable and still good, lots to choose from. Free parking underneath which is perfect. Very happy with my stay, highly recommended!

2021-10-26Positive: The employee at check in was super helpful, and always had a smile on his face. You can tell he genuinely loves his job. Especially in the times we are in now,it really brought me joy seeing him so happy and willing to help.
