After shopping around to find a new gas fireplace, we visited Berkeley Heat where we found the perfect unit. Nick, the owner, was helpful and friendly. The installer was extremely knowledgeable and he installed the unit with skill and expertise. You cannot go wrong with Berkeley Heat for they are simply the best company who will answer all of your questions and who will make sure they meet the customers needs. I just love my new gas insert. It was exactly what I was hoping for. It is gorgeous and heats my place so well. The installer Moises did a great job and was very courteous and I am pleased with the entire process. Before my installation I was rarely able to use my fireplace due to all the save the air days. This insert really adds warmth to my older home - thank you!
We installed two gas fireplace inserts and it was great working with these guys. Especially the contractor Moises and plumber Kona, and Nick has a good selection and was very helpful in explaining what the whole process requires and how its done. They really made the complicated process easy and enjoyable. Now the inserts are one of our favorite things that we own.
Great Experience working with Nick and the team at Berkeley Heat. They had the wood burning insert in stock during the initial phone call. We did everything over the phone and email, and were very responsive. Recommended a certified installer, held the insert, until time to install, and it all worked out great.
We are very happy with our gas insert now that it has finally been installed. Through no fault of Berkeley Heat, our March purchase was not delivered until late July (supply chain) and installed in August. Our 95 year-old original fireplace was a challenge to modify but was skillfully accomplished by Fernando and Jorge. We spent more than we wanted to but chose to stick with Tubmakers because of our 40+ year relationship with the original owners.

Berkeley hit is great, despite long wait times last winter and fall, they were very communicative and friendly. They were knowledgeable about the products that would most work for me. The technician they sent was awesome really detail oriented and thorough.
Nic knows his stuff, and he works closely with a very capable installation crew. Why not five stars? This is the first (and I hope the only) fireplace Ive ever had to remove, repair, and replace. I have no comparison. The total package is not inexpensive, but were very pleased with the results.

We knew pretty much exactly what we wanted so the purchase process was quick and easy. Moises the installer was fantastic. He came during the day on Christmas eve to complete the installation so wed have the fireplace for our family gathering. He also went above and beyond, recommending a couple changes we wouldnt have thought of that really enhanced the final product. And he and his team kept our home very clean during the install. Over all a great experience.
Ive been doing business with them since around 2005, and every single call, every single transaction, and the core team has been very helpful, explains things adequately, and does everything to follow-up on their promises. Ive purchase two high-end spas from them, and one high-end stove/insert - Im in the process of receiving/installing the 2nd spa from them, after replacing the previous one (purchase from them) that lasted just fine ~13 years. The stove/insert not only keeps our entire uninsulated 1904 build colonial revival two story home *very* warm, but it has had *only* maintenance done on it since we purchased from them around ~10 years ago. I think these folks are definitely a safe bet for these products - they know what theyre doing!
We love our new fire insert. There were some ups and downs to this process--like not understanding that I needed a lining in my chimney to just get fire logs. However, ultimately with the guidance of Caesar and his manager, we were able to select an insert that works really well and makes our house very warm and cozy. They also helped me hire some contractors from Pendergast Masonry who were extremely knowledgeable and able install the insert prior to Christmas.
We we’re extremely happy with all aspects of our Fireplace insert project. Cesar was helpful to get us started and Moises did an excellent job with the installation.
Berkeley Heat did a terrific job explaining to me my options for a gas fireplace insert, gave me a good price, and lined up an outstanding installation contractor. My new gas fireplace warms my house quickly and looks amazing! I highly recommend Berkeley Heat.

Great owner & products but there was some confusion about our contact information for setup of our hot tub. Otherwise great folks! We also bought a gas insert to convert our fireplace and Moises did great work. The gas insert functioned well as a 2nd source of heat and lended a nice aesthetic to the living room without the hassle of no burn days and smoke from a poor flu design.Cesar who comes and installs hot tub upgrades etc is particularly great and helpful with answering all questions.
We were looking to purchase a gas insert for our fireplace. We received a very warm welcome and received a tour of the products they carried. We also, got a demo showing us how easy it is to operate and the choices you have for customizing the insert. We are very happy with the purchase and the customer service we received. We especially liked the one stop shop, meaning they have a contractor that takes care of the gas and electrical piece of the installation. I highly recommend them if you are ooking for a gas insert or wood burning stove. You will not be disappointed.

The purchase and installation of my Regency gas fireplace insert went smoothly and rather quickly. Moises and his team did a fabulous job of installing the insert and now my vintage tiles in this 103 year old house really is showcased by the Regency insert. Kona, the plumber came promptly and Moises Tapia was very courteous and efficient in doing the electrical. I would highly recommend Berkeley Heat and this team of contractors.
We had a great experience—on-site we got helpful tips on how to select the best model of gas insert for our home and installation was fast and professional. We love being able to turn the fire on with a click of the remote and the logs look really nice.
Great installation and easy to work with both the sales team and the installers. Loving my new fireplace. The only downside is I wish the termperature were programmable so it could turn on and warm up the house before I get up in the morning.
Thanks to Berkeley Heat I, now have a fireplace insert. Moises and the Plumber were great. I ordered the Insert about 2 weeks ago. One week after ordering the Insert. The work started on Monday for the Gas line and the Insert was installed by Friday. Thanks again for a quick and great job.
Berkeley Heat did an excellent job explaining the different fireplaces and managing the entire install. They contacted the mason, who then contacted the plumber, and I didnt have to lift a finger. I am slightly disappointed that there is an emergency shut off valve that is bright chrome and slightly off center in the front of the fireplace. Its not on any of their marketing materials, and its an eyesore. I think this should have been conveyed upfront prior to instal and the location discussed. If it were completely to one side or centered that would be fine, but its like 2 off to one side and looks so bad in the middle of this sleek fireplace.

I understand that these are stressful times and we all have bad days. The other reviews seem positive, so maybe I just went in on a bad day.Old reviewI dont recommend this store. I called before I came in and mentioned I was looking for a hot tub. The man was very friendly on the phone and told me to come in and he could talk to me about pricing and the different tubs. So I drove down right away. When I walked into the store, he was less than friendly, told me he had no tubs in stock and didnt even leave his side of the counter to help me. I inquired about a wooden tub in the corner and all he says is thats $40,000 with an attitude. Dude, you dont know my budget or what I can and cant afford. I own my own home, that I bought for over a million dollars, so maybe assumptions shouldnt be made based on appearance. He was rude and didnt help me whatsoever. I asked him if I could get any info on tubs seeing as he had none in stock. He told me to write me email down. I did and he didnt even pick the paper up. Im sorry, but I would never give this store my business. I dont like to say an assumption was made because Im a minority, but his friendly attitude on the phone was nowhere to be seen when I showed up in the store twenty minutes later. If he had no tubs and didnt want to help me figure something out, why did he tell me to come down to the store? Waste of time and I do NOT recommend. Such a bad experience, completely ruined my day. I left the store not knowing what the differences were in any hot tubs, the prices, the features, nothing. He literally gave me ZERO information. Waste of my time.
Cesar was very knowledgable about all the fireplace options and helped me choose a beautiful solution that fits my fireplace. He arranged for an installer who did a great job; his price was very competitive. The day of installation the log set supplied was missing one item (the volcanic rocks) and Cesar sent someone out to my house immediately with the rocks. Thank you Berkeley Tubmakers!

I purchased a beautiful Regency gas fireplace from Berkeley Heat. They have a terrific showroom that allowed me to get a very clear picture of the various styles available for the outer appearance and the various faux wood choices. The installer and his crew they work with are excellent. It was a pleasure to have a contractor be as professional as these men were. BH was the third retail gas fireplace dealer that I visited before making a decision, and I recommend them without reservation.
They helped me select the right hot tub, and then stored it for me for an extra month until my landscaping plans were done. Nic is very nice, and the contractors he recommended for delivery & gravel pad and electrical hook up were also top notch. Plus they have a cute little dog on the premises!!!

Nic was awesome and spent the time really understanding what we needed in terms of our inserts. Raincrow and team did a beautiful installation job. The scheduling was a little challenging given its the dead of winter and they have full calendars, but once you get them to your home, you wont be disappointed!

We changed a traditional fireplace to a gas insert. The entire process was easy, from the selection of the right insert to the recommended contractors! Bluejay and Raincrow, the recommended contractors, were outstanding! They demod the current fireplace while preserving original hardwood floors and tiles. They built bookshelves to surround the fireplace and mounted TV. It is beautiful and looks like a whole new room! I would recommend both Berkley Heat and Raincrow and Bluejay for any job.
Overall, great experience with scheduling the initial consult, showroom visit for fireplace selection, and fireplace install. Easy to work with, good customer service!
We bought a corner gas fireplace plus installation from these guys in 2013 and all went well and smooth. Recently we went back to purchase and install a second unit in a second property but we fell into so issues with the contractor who we found out wasnt licensed so we paused the project and even went in a different direction with the design. We spoke with a salesperson to return the unit because one it was way too big for the space and second was not able to be installed due to city inspectors not allowing it. Tubmakers took back the unit, mind you, it was still in its shipping materials unopened and they will not refund my money. they want to give me store credit for $3,500. There is no return policy written on the order form, receipt or website. I have been calling for the past 6 months to get in touch with the owner named Dan Waitz I believe and still no solution. I am now looking to take them to small claims.
Helpful, professional people including our installer. Not thrilled with the size of the flames on our smaller model, but it was the only model that would fit in our fireplace.

You cant get a better place to buy hot tubs and gas inserts. Our experience with Dan and Nick has been nothing less than excellent. From the time we first bought our hot tub, to our purchase and installation of our gas insert was quite good. With our hot tub, Nick who we first met and bought our tub from, was outstanding in his approach and ways of teaching you how the different tubs functioned.We have to give kudos also for the two outfits they use to deliver and install our tub and insert. Dominic (I think that was his name) delivered and gently put down our tub and made sure it was was exactly where we wanted it and showed me the different parts. He did not install the electrical outlet, etc., but he was good at laying the tub down, so gently.Whenever I have needed help with figuring out the chemicals needed, and questions about the tub, Nick was my primary go-to person. He has been a good contact, and when I needed to talk he was there.Four months later, we went back to inquire about gas inserts, and of course, we purchased one. Now this is where our happiness went a few pegs down. We bought our insert in December, and it turns out that is not a good time to buy gas inserts. It shipped from and was made in Canada (go Canucks!). Canadiens it turns out, like to run off on vacation in December. We were hoping for a install before the holidays. Instead it finally came just after the new year.We had a contractor, Moises (sorry the name of the company is just not coming up), recommended by Berkeley Heat Tubmakers, his crew did an amazing job on the insert in less than eight hours. And our gas insert works amazingly well.You wont go wrong with this group of people. They are very good at their jobs.

2022-02-25The sales people were very informative. We worked with their contractor Moises. He is very reliable and communicative. We worked with his recommended plumber but used our own electrician. The installation went smoothly and we are using the fireplace during this cold weather. It heats the room beautifully and the entire look improves our room. It’s worth the dollars.

2021-11-18We love our new gas fireplace. It took awhile to schedule the install. But, once they got started they worked through any difficulties & finished the job in a day. The results were magnificent! Now, were seriously considering replacing our other wood pellet insert with a gas one as well.

2022-06-29The hot tub we ordered was delayed by months but we understand that happens these days. However, we were charged a lot of fees for installation and, after paying for a top of the line product, expected that it would be installed without a lot of additional charges. Worse, we weren’t told in advance by the store that there would be further charges. The individual who did the installation just asked for a check while he was at our house. He may have installed the tub properly but left the new tub in a pool of mud and gravel and did not clean up adequately. We were very disappointed in the service.

2022-05-31The staff at Berkeley Heat are simply the best! We had many questions regarding what kind of gas fireplace to buy for our remodel. The staff answered all of our questions and their installation was done flawlessly. Several months later the remote to the fireplace insert wasnt working correctly and a staff member helped us with it over the phone. The have fantastic customer service and my husband and I strongly recommend Berkeley Heat for your heating needs.

2022-02-24Update to previously critical review of the customer service. I was a bit heavy handed in my criticism and felt in particular that the communication was lacking during the home stretch. It was a slog getting from the hot tub arriving to being placed and ready to go on our back patio. Pros of the experience include getting a beautiful Caldera product that works well, dealing with Jose of Warm and Toasty who did an expert job delivering the tub, and the electrician who got it up and running. There are a couple little details still to work out and I appreciate that Nic the manager of the business has reached out to me to tie up loose ends.

They set expectations well. We really liked the people who came to our home both for the quality of work as well as they are nice people. The manager of the store helped us select our fireplace insert simplifying the purchase so that we felt confident in our selection. The shop dog is super cute !

2021-04-19Great work. It took a while to get our fireplace insert due to the a delay at the manufacturer but I think Berkeley Heat did what they could to get it as soon as possible. Our installation was well done, went very quickly and looks great. The installer was always prompt and was quick to provide information when we needed it. We love our new fireplace!

2020-09-27This is an update on a previous review.I did have a problem with a delivery charge. However, they called me and refunded the charge so alls well that ends well. I worked with Jesus and he was very nice and helpful. Also the gas plumber Jason that they suggested was also very nice and did a good job.
