This was my first time going to Bass Pro Shops. Im not much of an outdoorsman as I used to be, but going inside this store made me feel like I wanted to return to the days of yesteryear. Mind you, my visit was during covid19 so there was a shortage in staff and plenty of social distancing. This place has all types of outdoor gear. They have a bowling alley and restaurant (not in operation due to pandemic). Dont miss the large fish tank (again no feeding due to pandemic). I came with a friend looking to buy a firearm. Staff was knowledgeable and informative on the procedure. They were only helping appointments that were made @8a inperson served in the afternoon. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours. Enjoy yourself.
Unbelievable decorations ranging from a waterfall into a pond with a bunch of fish to mountains with all the taxedermy animals, and then theres the restaurant and bar, located in the middle of a bowling alley. Not your average sports store. Decent sale prices and knowledgeable staff.
One of my favorite stores. Staff are always helpful.Edit: this last visit was a horrendous experience at this store. I purchased bear spray and two foldable chairs, at time of check out, I used a Bass Pro shops gift card I received for Fathers day and a prepaid card. I paid the difference of the balance with my credit card. (One cannot see the prices of items at checkout) I got to my car and checked the receipt, they had over charged me for the chairs. I went back in and went to customer service, they returned the amount and I went home. I checked my online bank and nothing had gone through, I looked at the receipt and the money was returned to the gift card! The gift card that the cashier threw away! The Indian customer service supervisor didn’t even ask me what card I wanted the money to go back too. I won’t be shopping at with this store anymore. Worst customer service.
This place is Awsome!!!!!They had so many things to look at and buy for the whole family. I got to spend 2hours walking around and the kids and Wife went to other sections of the store. When we were all tire we meet at the HUGE FISH TANK in the middle of the store. Reasonable prices and sales as well. The works were very helpful and kind. All items were stocked and clean I didnt have any problem finding what I needed . So happy they built a Bass Pro Shop in my area you all should visit and if you dont fish there are hunting , archery ,camping gear and many more for sale too.
Great shop, nonexistent salespeople. Came here ready to spend $1k+ on archery gear. Us and another guy walked around for 30+ minutes unsuccessfully trying to find someone to unlock the gear. Seriously there was NO ONE around. Blows my mind that they don’t have dedicated salespeople in each sport section. It was not busy AT ALL. Maybe 20 people in the store total. We were ready to purchase many things in different sections (all locked up), same story. We ended up leaving totally empty handed and going to a small retailer instead. Ridiculous that you have such a massive store with awesome merchandise but no one to actually unlock and sell it.
Horrible customer service. Horrible app. Calling the number is useless, no one answers the phone no matter which department you choose. In person is horrible. Lack of customer service no one approaches you while walking around the isles. Hard to find anything without having to really look. Ordering stuff online is a major hassle. Would not recommend going here unless you know exactly what you need.
I went in to pick up a weapon I purchased online, it is not my first time purchasing a weapon in California, however I’ve not experienced this with other gun shops. Upon verifying personal information for finalizing the transfer of the weapon from the store to me, I came across a section where I had a question about and I asked the attendant for assistance. She verified my American passport and CA DL, when she asked if I was born here (U.S.) and I respectfully said no, I was born in Mexico. Shorty after my response she asked if I was a Citizen just after seeing my American Passport. She also asked, what race I identified as and responded respectfully with an answer even after I had already filled out all those answers on the laptop in front of her. This situation made me uncomfortable and inconvenient since her demeanor was different with me than other customers. I ended up requesting a full refund after realizing that these attendants were being prejudice against me and making the whole process more complicated. All of my questions were being deflected with no real solutions or alternatives to the conclusion of the pick up. I won’t be doing business with them again. Lastly… the refund is in store credit…. How more inconvenient and stressful can this store get! The guy near the exit also pointed where the exit was… Im Mexican and my wife is black, I didn’t know bass pro shops did business like it was 1940
I went in to purchase some ammo for my open exposed carry class. The woman at the counter, Donna was so rude! We went through the process to get the background live check done, and everything went well. It came time to pay and I realized I didn’t have a card, and I told Donna I left my card at home. Before I could even tell her I was going to go grab some cash, she grabbed the paper that I was going to purchase and ripped it to shreds in front of my face. I’ve never had someone disrespect me like that. Not only that, I spoke to Charlie the Manager and he told me I couldn’t buy ammo without a weapon! Where in californja law does it say you need to purchase ammo with a weapon? Absolutely nowhere. Not only that, he was not at all listening to what I was saying, he stated that he knew Donna for years and she would never do that. I told him to look at the footage and rewind it.The behavior was RUDE. You don’t just rip someone’s papers in front of their face. I work in customer service and I would absolutely never do that. If someone is providing a service you expect to be treated with respect and I was not treated, or considered.I left thoroughly frustrated at the entire interaction. I guarantee you that entire interaction is not in line with store policy or conduct, but obviously working at a Bass Pro Shop they don’t care too much for treating customers decently.
Went in for a specific fishing jig, but they didnt have it. Also had 4 associates walk by me, while looking, & not one of them greeted me, or asked if I needed help finding what I was looking for. Therefore, I left empty handed. May possibly be why the store was empty...
I never had luck to get my call connected to any of the department within the store after ~3-4 pm (San Jose store). Miller time everyday afternoon I guess? Besides that, online and store stock info was never accurate. The store is 30 miles away so I wanted to make sure the stuff I wanted is in stock at store before go (I did a couple time and learned the lesson). This is very very frustrating.
Great clean place to take young kids and explore all the wild animals. Also, have a lot of cool stuff. Guns and ammo dept have tightened up big time because of all the calif laws from newsom. Now you have to pass a background check just to buy ammo..how goofy. Nice boats, atvs.
The customer service had always been excellent, sincere and helpful--until today.I was with my wife purchasing some match grade 6.5 creedmoor ammo. We were helped by Michael. We did not say we were doing any form of hunting and specifically said “match grade ammo only”. He helped us make a choice, we asked for x4 boxes of match grade winchester 6.5 creedmoor ammo; paid with card and left.Driving off I noticed something wrong. The receipt said we bought hunting rounds! I inspected the boxes - half was match grade ammo other 2 boxes were lead hunting rounds. Which are useless to hunt with in California, because it is illegal to use lead rounds for hunting. According to the receipt it says I purchased x4 boxes of the incorrect ammo, which is also more expensive than the actual stuff we wanted and thought we were buying. The receipt says “ALL FIREARMS AND AMMO SALES FINAL” I can understand this if this was a matter of us changing our minds but, this was not our fault. I do not blame Michael, due to COVID the ammo purchasing has been modified, you cannot hand pick what you want – it is now all locked up and the attendant does it for you. I can see that this was not Michaels fault, this happened because whoever stacked the shelves, stacked them carelessly. The boxes look almost identical. I was not upset.I came back to returns and told them what happened very calmly. This was a tiny error, nothing to be upset about. A young gentlemen passed me onto his supervisor, who then passed me onto the manager-- her name was Charlie. I told Charlie the mistake that had happened and she adamantly stated this was not her problem. There would be no correction on her employees mistake. She went as far to tell me ammunition sales are final because “it is California law”...her exact words - which are false. There is no such law, I have checked. An establishment can have a policy of all firearms and ammo sales are final but I know there is a universal policy among all business to sell customers the right things they want. We were sold the wrong stuff and overcharged! “Consumers have a responsibility to inspect what they are buying” were also Charlies exact words. With her logic does this suggest that we should treat Bass Pro employees with extreme suspicion from now on because they are swindlers and con artists? Is this the new Bass Pro Shop business model? One of the main reasons I come to and recommend Bass Pro is because I thought you are all trustworthy, sincere and reputable. “Did you leave the store?” Yes we did. We trusted Bass Pro Shops commitment to integrity and compentency. But the fact that we did was Charlies final excuse to get us to leave the store.Upon reflection I have decided this is completely unacceptable. Charlie used some well executed bogus facts and excuses to shoo us away. My wife has been working hard and saving so we can have a new hobby to share. That was a $155 USD purchase she made, half of it wasted for something we did not ask for or have any use for. We came back as loyal customers to have a mistake on their part corrected, but we have been swindled. Bass Pro shop made the mistake, everyone makes mistakes, but what really made me upset was when given the opportunity to be rational, show leadership and fix it, Charlie would rather lie and attempt to blame this all on me and my wife. Made us into fools! US, THE LOYAL CUSTOMERS.Bass Pro Shops has made thousands from my patronage, and would have made tens of thousands more, but now they will not see another dollar. I will tell my friends and my extended outdooring community to avoid them like COVID-19 until this is fixed.
Always a pleasure BPS.. my husband loves you, my son loves and of course me. I have two fishermen in my tiny family and you always supply them with their outdoor needs. Not to mention their boat goals. Always a great experience and making memories as a family. I know guys its a store but who says you have to be at a attraction/destination to make memories. BPS has been in our lives for many years and has not disappointed.
Well... if there is any place that makes you want to get outdoors, once you come indoors, this is it.I took my time and wandered to witness the spring merchandise shift and was ready to hit a remote wilderness lodge.Flask is full, camera and journal ready... too early for fishing?
Came looking for a portable griddle for an outdoor propane stove, couldnt find what I was looking for or someone to help me out in the camping area to check a price on an item so I went to the front-end area to get help friendly Betty was able to help me she went out of her way to help me
I visited the main headquarters in Independence Missouri a few years ago. Love this place. Boat store to clothing store. Loved the waterfall and pond outside and the tank inside. Planned on spending minutes and spent hours. Great place for all your outdoor needs. Don’t forget dinner inside downstairs too.
Great womens outdoor clothing. Love their leggings, good quality but pricey. Their purses and wallets are cute too. Lots of stylish winter clothing. Good assortment of travel snacks. Dont forget to check out the restaurant and bowling alley at the far left of the store. Great atmosphere but food needs better menu and for. Clever drink options. Pictured is my favorite.
Always love going to bass pro shops, staff here was very nice. The store was cleaned and organized. I love stores where you can always find an employee, this place was definitely 1 of them. Went looking for paintball stuff, they didnt have anything, I guess its 1 of those things they dont carry.
This has got to be the worst Bass Pro Shops store in the country. The staff that works the ammo counter are incredibly rude and standoffish and I’ve had issues the last two times trying to get ammo there. One man working there accused me of making a straw purchase when I showed him a text from my parents and somehow I said the shot size funny. Today, the lady, Tracie, was incredibly rude when I asked her if they have certain ammo and was screaming at customers trying to look at ammo. I even overheard her say “I don’t care if people complain to corporate about me” after dealing with another customer. They never have my size in store either and other staff have been rude to my brother. I’m done giving this location my business. Even Bass Pro Shops all together has been on the decline. I’m much better off going to Sportsman’s Warehouse because they are more organized and their customer service is spectacular.
Im glad this place is kinda far from my Oakland base. Or Id move in and sign over everything I have thats worth anything. When I got there I was welcomed in by several staff folks. Not only did they have what I wanted but they let me take as much time as I needed the young man who helped me took a half hour to find the rod I wanted and apologized for taking so much of my time.Kid even wound the line on the reel for me. Anyway I was even able to appease the wife buying a bunch of shiny soft plastics.dont laugh its getting to be a thing earrings, hair ties all kinds of um, stuff. So for me a win, win situation.Yep. Im going back soon once I figure what I need/want.Ive spent the majority of my life living out doors. Living in tents, camping as a permanent living situation hunting and fishing with a little gathering as my supermarket. Bass pro had everything I could want to set a proper camp and all of it high enough quality that I wouldnt have to worry about whatever it is lasting and doing the job well. Yep they got the goods and their price es are ok too.
Great archery section, has a lot of tools an accessories to choose from. Bought a bow there an was really taken care of, awesome customer service, thanks Chris N. The shop tech Chris answered all my questions an took his time an helped with getting me ready to shoot that day. I was so happy with my experience, brought my wife a few weeks later and she got setup with a bow as well. So check out Bass Pro Achery. They got a sweet shooting range
50% of the time i dont find what i need from here. But still end up buying something. Customer service is also 50/50 not the friendliest staff. Most of the time i already know whay I want so ... whatever. Kids like to come here to run around and parents are preoccupied to keep them in check. My kids are no exception. Still would rather have Fishermans Warehouse back. Coyote Discount Bait & Tackle would be my go to spot in the area even though its a little farther from me. Fishing Supply near downtown SJ is best in the area right now.
Was very disappointed with the lack of tellers available today. Spent around 1 hour there just to pick up my online items. They ended up giving my order to wrong customer and gave me another customers order. I had drive home across town and had to drive back. So around 2 hours of wasted time. What a waste of time. I hope they read this and then train people better here.
Not a single employee was wanting to help us. Most just ignored us and walked away as we approached. Several were just joking with other customers and couldnt be bothered to actually help. Signs throughout the store were wrong which made it even more confusing. No map or aisle numbers meant we couldnt find what we were looking for.
Im shocked at how rude the dude at the ammo section was to me. It was 10AM, on October 26, 2021, nobody around. I politely asked if they had any ammo on sale, he looked at me like I was an insect and stated firmly, No. I shouldnt have asked the second question based on his first reply however I asked if they had any 9MM... another look as if I was the dumbest person on earth with a rude tone,,, no.Whatever happened to customer service, a friendly greeting or can I help you...... I walked in there with a full intention of purchasing a Kimber... Ill be shopping elsewhere.
The store its self is good but the problem is with the tracker boat center it is impossible to talk to anyone during store hours as the sales manager is never there. The customer service always just keep on saying that he happened not to be there for some unknown reason. We tryed call him many times during business hours on his work phone like 7 but he has never pick up, it is like he is determined to never sell a boat
So I recently started fishing like 3 months ago and this is my go to spot for anything fishing related. They are pretty stocked up now since more people are back to work and dont have as much free time anymore. Lol the employees there are always so helpful and willing to help out any newcomer thats trying a new hobby/sport and most of them will have the answer to your question. Reasonable prices. Its just an overall awesome place to get or re-up on new gear.
Friendly helpful caring staff. Clean store everyone following the pandemic regulations, made me & my family feel safe while doing our Christmas shopping. I love everything about this store especially during Christmas, the Santa shop, decorations warm feeling...I love this store more now that they combined my favoritestore... Cabelas!!!Always a fun exciting experience!
Jacob from the fishing department was awesome. I’m heading out on a first time fishing trip and he went out his way to guide me and explain all the equipment I would need for my specific needs by asking the right questions. If you ever need any help and your a first time fisher, make sure to ask for him and I’m sure he’ll take good care of you just like he did me!
Helpful and friendly people. The rod tip on one of my rods broke and they were helpful and happy to replace it, the man helping me explained that it wasn’t my fault and that they were happy to help me out. The selection can be low after holidays but the size of its store makes up for it.
Even if you are not shopping, the Bass Pro is a destination! The decor is totally out of the ordinary. Im not going to bother trying to describe it since I took pictures. Ill let my pictures do the talking.Go in, soak up the ambiance, see if you dare to walk out without a purchase!Enjoy!
I love the store, and it deserves 5 stars, but I drove so far to find no primers or powder. Not bass pros fault. Its just where the country is now i suppose. Great staff. Super helpful. I was asked if I needed help several times. Then when I needed help at the boot area, it came quickly!!
I went in to pick up an online ammo order at 3:30 on Monday afternoon. The order was ready for pickup on Saturday, but I waited until Monday to try to avoid a long wait. It still took 45 minutes in line. On a Monday. To pick up something that was already paid for. This is unacceptable, and I will likely be buying my ammo somewhere else next time. They only had one guy working the ammo counter, and that was the main reason for the wait. It is a nice store with great selection, so I give it 3 stars, but I recommend buying ammo somewhere else.
We love to go to Bass Pro. Its just off N85 - take Almaden expressway in San Jose. Relative new, Bass Pro has a plethora of sporting and outdoor equipment. Entering reminds one of a hinting lodge. We always feel like we should be able to order a steak there! While you cant get one you certainly can buy everything you need to hunt and fry one up yourself, right dow to the seasonings. This trip we were looking for life jackets. Nearby we looked at electric and gas powered land type cruisers. Something to use on our land, that can haul a few things but not as heavy or as costly as a truck. They seem to be a good price there. We stopped yo watch yhe waterfalls which goes to a tank of fish. If you have kids you wont be able to get away without taking them to watch. We ended up buying 2 pairs of hiking shorts, some shirts, and a sun hat. We also found a plastic bristle brush for our ceramic grill plates, and new types of freeze dried food for our earthquake supplies. Another purchase was a deer cam for our wooded acres. Not for hunting but just to keep track of the kinds of wildlife that are currently moving through. The sales people are froendly and helpfulWhen you put things in your cart, make sure they have their UPC symbols on the item or you will spend a lot of time at the checkout while the cashier hunts for that item in the store. Some things dont seem to be in their inventory data.
This location is another great one amongst the rest of the locations, and besides Covid-19 slowing down some business the employees keep pushing forward to serve everyone with a Smile! Were thankful for their hard work, and I personally appreciate everything theyre doing to keep the doors open!
Great selection of goods for fishing and clothing, but archery section and several others are lacking. Sales team is SUPER aggressive, to the point that I asked at least three of them to leave us alone, but they all kept coming back and interjecting themselves into our business, and at a distance of about a foot.
Well waited over an hour in the hunting section to fill out paper work for a rifle I bought. I was 3rf in line and went home without being taken care of because they were almost closed. Two people were working and they were slow. I dont know why they could not help more then one person at a time. While the other two people were filling out their forms I could have been filling out mine. The place was pretty much empty id hate to see how long it would take if it were busy. Drove from fremont and got nothing done. Just wasted gas and time. Next time I will buy from a local gun store.
I saw the online sale for Bass Pro Shops rifles and shotguns and was surprisingly happy with what I was seeing. I was excited at the idea of finding a place with more fair prices and service than my local Turners seeking more information, and wanting to starting the background check I tried calling my nearest Bass Pro seven times with no success. With the intention of adding more guns to my gun collection I drove two and a half hours up to my nearest Bass Pro past to be told right when I got there that I could not talk to the gun counter without an appointment which I was fine with so I asked the employe when is the first available time expecting the way to be one hour- two hours max I was told one week. If someone would have answered the phone and told me this I would have been fine with the news not driving all the way here to be told the trip was pointless just for some questions and information. Not wanting to waste a whole trip for nothing I went to the gun counter in between his customers, I went and asked if I may ask a few questions about there sales and they said yes. I proceeded to ask I have a few questions I am interested in buying a few guns so I showed them the deals and on each one they said it was out of stock so my next question was would If these guns come back into stock can I buy them at sale price there answer was no because the sale would have ended by then and Bass Pro has no intentions on getting any of these guns back in stock while the sale is on. I proceeded and asked if it would be possible to pay for those guns upfront for sale price and get them whenever back in stock because It is not time sensitive I would just like the get the guns at sale price and was told no it can not be done. With no further questions and no way to get a single gun at the sales price that is still listed I left the store drove back two and a half hours home. I was shocked at a retail experience like this, with an advertised sale that a company refused to honor. Is this just the kind of experience that I can come to expect from Bass Pro Shop in the future, or would you say that this store is a bad example?
It’s saddening to write this review. I enjoyed shopping at Bass Pro for gun, ammo, camping, fishing, and outdoor needs.Ammo is locked up. Only employees are able to open the locked shelves, pick, and handle product. My husband and I told the associate working alone in the department our needs. The transaction goes smoothly for our boxes of ammo and we leave the store. Upon reviewing our items, we were sold and charged the wrong items, at premium prices. We immediately go inside to exchange our items. The employees call the manager on duty. Interestingly, they say her name with cringe and fear: “Charlie”.Charlie comes to the customer service desk and we explain our simple situation. And ask for an exchange. She denies our request, since we stepped outside their doors. And states the following: “It’s the responsibility of our customers to check their items before leaving the store.” Charlie...your ammo is locked away from customers. Customers are not allowed to pick their own box of ammo, because it’s handled exclusively by your employees.I dont pay Bass Pro Shops prices, assuming your employees cannot do their jobs or are incompetent. I shop at your store, assuming they are paid a fair wage to do their job correctly. Attention to detail. The mistake wasnt our fault. And to blame us for leaving the store, only to immediately return after realizing the mistake, and denying to fix the issue--it tells much about your character Charlie. This behavior and poor execution of management doesnt save the company money or their bottom line. It drives away loyal high-spending customers. There needs to be a level of trust between merchant and their loyal customers. Charlie’s handling of the situation was not only poorly done, it destroyed trust. You can research yourself how much has been personally spent at your store. I must take my business elsewhere. We have spent good money at Bass Pro Shops. No longer. No thanks.I advise high caution dealing with this store.
We havent been to a Bass Pro Shop in literally years. Last time was when we were leaving TN on our cross country moving trip from VA to CA almost four years ago. This store is nice and clean, friendly staff, and a lot of great merchandise. Would definitely go back again. We miss Bass Pro Shop, especially around Christmas time.
This was my very first time at the Bass Pro Shops in San jose. I love this place. they have all the fun toys here. I went to just go look at the store and ended up buying a bass pro shops hat for 3 bucks. not bad!! they have a neat waterfall/fish tank in this place, and interesting decorations on the walls. This place feels like a museum/store. Cant wait to come back and visit again!
The store is like a joke now. I try to buy a dozen of arrow and use their in-store arrow cut service. Came in Suanday afternoon around 3:00pm, no staff at the archery department and they say the personal has gone home. Called on next Wednesday and got confirmed that the people working at the archery usually go home around 6pm (store hour till 9pm). Came in again Thursday afternoon at 4pm, still no one in the archery department. Tried to talk to a store manager to file a complaint, the store manger didn’t come in 10 minutes. I gave up and left and will try to never come to this store again.
Great shopping place for outdoor ! Shoes to fishing to guns to boats ... you name it, they have it.They do this nice thing for Christmas - free photo with Santa. It’s very well organized. My kid spent a lot of time playing with some of the fun activities such as kinetic sand, shoot the duck, etc.
The phone support and Hunting staff are doing the best job they can given the circumstance. I believe they need help from upper management to provide a better experience to customers.Specifically in order to purchase a handgun, you need to make an in-person appointment. Make a selection, then make another appointment to take your FSC, then once thats cleared you need yet another in person appointment to pickup your firearm. This is unacceptable to someone who lives 45min away. An on-line cue for members would be helpful..Lastly, the inventory online does not match the inventory available in store. So it becomes extremely hard to find products other than to call the store and provide individual sku numbers.I think you can do better for your premium customers..
Lets be real, you can not NOT have a good time while inside Bass Pro Shop! I came in looking for new fishing poles and reels, now keep in mind I dont fish so I had no idea where to start. Shout out to Cody for the help, turns out this young guy(19) knows alot about the sport. He guided me through which poles were going to work best for where I was going and the fish that were going to be there during this time. He hooked it up with a sweet reel to go along with it and even gave me advice on which line would be best for the occasion! He took it one step further though and showed me how to put it all together, minus the line because it was done by machine. All around though it was a great trip, very painless and straightforward. 👍👍
Staff dont really help out they haggle u at the door tho stock of fishing lures and baits is horrible very cluttered, on the off shore fishing section salt water gear has less then a walmart very sad to see such a great store go down the drain they never stock items staff is very lazy here 😕
If youre lucky enough to find a firearm they have in stock on their website (and the website doesnt glitch on you), you wait a few days for it to arrive at the shop. Then you have to get in line at 6am to make an appointment to come back later that day to do the paperwork so you can then wait 10 days to receive your firearm. If thats not complicated enough, the staff seems unable to communicate that to costumers. Good luck!
The selection and sales reps are fantastic, but you have to wait a long time to get helped. That being said the only reason i give this store a 5 star is because of the customer service, today i waited close to 2 hours for a rep at the firearms counter. Luckily Jake was able to help me pick up even after hours and consulting a manager. Wouldnt recommend purchase a firearm after 7:30pm, but i would shop there again.
Always wanted to visit the location so I did recently on a rainy day. Very cool interior with plenty of taxidermy animals, huge freshwater fish tank and waterfall in natural surroundings (PETA probably hates this). Huge selection of sporting goods and related merchandise neatly displayed. Restaurant and bowling alley looked good and busy.
Looooooove this place!. Its like going on a field trip every time i go here. They have almost everything youll need for hunting and fishing. Great selection of fishing and camping gear, hunting apparel and boating gear. Experienced and knowledgeable staff working in their respective departments. Never disappointed when i leave.
Not sure if its just the times. But no one was available for help in the fishing department. Noticed people were not knowledgable about the products and how to help a customer where the grills were. Just a weird vibe in there right now. Disappointing went in to buy a rod and reel for my husband for his birthday. Left empty handed seeing as we couldnt find someone to help us. I guess ordering online is our best bet. We drove an hour to come to this store too.
This is an amazing store to browse. The interior feels like the great outdoors complete with preserved animals and a fish tank. Great gift items for the outdoor enthusiast, large collection of sporting goods, some reasonable prices. Dont forget to grab a bite to eat at the ocean themed restaurant (all you can eat shrimp!) and grab a Groupon for bowling at uncle bucks, an amazing ocean themed bowling alley!
Well, I actually came here on Thanksgiving day trying to find those small green propane cylinders, and apparently theyve been sold out for weeks becuase of all the covid campers and whatnot. That being said, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, and worked with me on the situation. Ended up finding an adapter hose that they carried connects a regular bbq propane cylinder to the camping stove type connection. I appreciate that they took the time to help me in resolve such a dilemma on such a demanding day.
Went in to buy a new reel, specifically one I was told when I called that they had it in stock, upon arriving i was told they only have 1 floor model left. I asked for a discount since I drove a hour out of my way and since its floor model and I would have to clean it well due to covid and whoever put it on display had the drag tightened all the way wich in case bass pro you dont you should have it lose when storing it they said they cant do it. Bummer because I spend alot of money here on a regular basis and dont think ill be coming back to this or other locations
If you can find Walter hes a fantastic asset to the store.Helped us look at guns, amo and told us about the store and the promotions they haveNever plushy or in a rush, great guy! If you cant find what you need for the outdoors here, you likely dont need it!!! Great place, bar, restaurant and bowling alleys AND EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF. Wear comfortable shoes, the place is enormous!
The scale of this place is absolutely overwhelming. Its enormous. The fishing section alone is the size of a medium supermarket. They have a several thousand gallon fish tank in the store. The selection was great as well, all the hunting, fishing, and camping gear you could ever need. Employees were helpful and friendly. Prices were a bit high, I felt like I could get a lot of the stuff cheaper elsewhere.
Went to front desk to get a fishing license, GREAT experience, as always. Looked for fishing license holder, asked at fishing counter & Bass Pro rep pointed me to the isle then came out and showed me where it was at. OUTSTANDING service! Cashier was friendly & helpful. Wonderful interactions, terrific experience, will be back.
Store is massive with a wide selection of gear but never in a million years buy a gun from here. The worst customer service and experience to get any type of help. 1-3 workers behind the counter and they are under no rush to get things done quickly. Currently waiting 90+ minutes to be seen on a PICK UP of a gun purchase. Pay the additional $10-20 for a gun, go to the small family ran gun shops, and avoid this place at all cost if you value your time.
I’ve been shopping at this store for 3 years. The store manager should be ashamed of themselves. So many problem. Product not on shelves. Product advertised in seasonal and not available. Ammo is never stocked ever. Order ammo online they don’t let you pick it up when they say you will be able to. Employees not capable of helping you when stock isn’t there. It’s an awful store to have to shop at since sportsman warehouse closed down. I can’t stand this place I’ve wasted so much time here it’s very frustrating.
My wife and I have been going to this store for about a couple years now. Its amazing. Friendly staff, competitively priced items, beautiful aquarium I can stare at for hours. I got my FSC (firearm safety certificate) there. Really nice selection on handguns, shotguns, scopes and rifles. The gun department employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a lot of experience handling and firing all kinds of different handguns, shotguns and rifles. They give great advice on what youre looking for too. I highly recommend this store.
I have been to this store several times and I enjoyed each visit. There is an interesting wildlife display and fish aquarium, the store is huge and carries most all categories of outdoor activities products and its clean and organized. There is an emphasis on fishing gear and boats, but they also have a large selection of firearms and archery equipment. Its a good store for outdoor clothing and shoes, the camping and cooking sections are pretty good as well.I have noticed a trend where some shelves are a bit light on products, which I am guessing is the result of how internet sales impacts local retail sales. To be clear, I think Bass Pro Shops stocks items that people are most likely to want to see and buy hands-on.There is ample parking at this store, it seems to be free of problems and loiterers and theres easy access from local highways.
I used to like this place, when I was a kid my dad would take me to sporting shows to see all the cool new things, now I come here no more.9/5/2020Sitting in the parking lot I call customer service and say I have arthritis and dont want to traverse your huge store if you dont have 12 Gage shells , she says yes its first come first serve and the line is inside now.I say ok I am in parking lot I will be right in.Walk across the parking lot and enter and goto the customer service desk which I just called 2 minutes before and they tell me that no they are done selling ammo for the day.🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
This is an amazing store! Great customer service, and fantastic products! I came here with specific questions about archery equipment and the employee who worked in the area approached me to help me. I didnt have to find them! Also, the lines we getting long, but once the staff noticed this, they immediately opened up more registers and helped myself and others leave in a timely manner.Overall, a fantastic experience.
The store manager in the glasses section seemed extremely disappointed to have to end her call in order to assist us. She claimed they would not be able to accept a return of damaged product that they sold to us in the same condition. She then went to accuse us of wiping the glasses with something we shouldnt have although the glasses were never worn & were only out of the case to he shown. They sold us a product with micro scratches then proceeded to claim that they had been caused by us. Extremely disappointing and almost fraudulent; it appears they rather loose a customer completely than return a pair a glasses they sold with defects.
This store is much like every other store in the chain. Its huge, has great deals, and lots of cool items to inspect. They sell fishing and hunting supplies plus camping gear, boats, and outdoor clothing. They also have a really cool fountain filled with huge fish, a waterfall, and surrounded by animals(stuffed). The kids usually love that part and outside where they can climb into the boats.
Everything hiking, hunting, camping, and boating! They have a huge selection and even bigger store. Definitely must see and check out. I do enjoy the aquarium they have in the back center and the bowling/restaurant that is connected to the Bass Pro Shop. Fun place to take the family!
Its all about the great outdoors. All and every sport is represented here including hunting and fishing gear. The boats are especially fun to check out...so many kinds. Guns and rifles are also on display for sale. All the clothing necessary for your fave sport is sold here too. Its an all inclusive sportsmans paradise.
This store has a good selection of outdoor items. The staff is super helpful and willing to help. I was buying a everyday carry knife and the guy working the knife counter was amazing. Not only was he knowledgeable about knives but took the time to explain the different types including blade hardness. I was super impressed with his willing to answer my basic questions with patience. His enthusiasm for knifes was contagious. I am glad I stopped in and will for sure be stopping in again.
Employees at gun counter are all very nice and patient. Just make sure you go there with an appointment. I am not sure if you can make appointment by phone, but you can go there to make one on Saturday morning .Update: they have changed to daily appointment and only for that day. I heard they start to take appointment at 7am until all slots are gone.
Too much to take in. So many options for every outdoor hobby. As a non American Im still in awe over these super stores. Amusingly quiet for a place with easily of 100,000 items to choose from. Imagine scrolling through amazon looking at fishing gear. Theres probably almost as many options here lol. Staff were friendly and attentive too. The taxidermy had an amusing contrast of being either really good or really derpy. Go have a look for yourselves. Anyways. Good store. Will be returning.
What can I say. This place is awesome. If you love the great outdoors you cant go wrong in this place. Theres everything from hunting, camping, fishing & much more. I love this place. The only thing I dont like is I can never get out of there in less than an hour or for less than a $100.
What can I say about Bass Pro Shops? I love them! This one has the restaurant and bowling alley, which is awesome too! Everything you can possibly need to get outdoors is available here. Staff are super helpful and friendly. We went for the Fathers day fishing specials and attended a 30 minute talk on getting started with fishing, which was super helpful. Kids were able to catch and release in two large portable swimming pools in the boat area. Lots of fun for them. The store has lots of parking and is conveniently located close to freeways. The decor of these stores is just incredible! Super impressed.
I been going since this location opened.. no longer a store I would come back to.. seems my membership card expired. Had reward money still left on it . But cant use it... because my card expired I have to build another 1000 point to use my reward money...Well Basspro... you lost a customer.. Sportsmans warehouse treat Veterans & Customers better..FYI Veteran Here! You need to have better Customer Service representatives... guy was on the phone more than anything else & it just opening since the Covid-19 shutdown...
Bass Pro Shops is a sporting goods store on steroids. They literally have everything under one roof. If you love fishing, hunting, archery, shooting, boating, or camping; then this is your place. This place even has a restaurant, enormous live fish aquarium and bowling alley inside the store! Prices are competitive and staff is friendly/helpful. Massive selection of sporting goods!!
Severely understocked!!! I went in to this location to get my warrenty on my fishing pole because it broke. They didnt have any replacements, they ended up just telling me to go online l. I mean is it really a bass pro If I cant walk in empty handed and out with a fishing pole? Amazes me how bass pro doesnt have fishing poles. How is that even possible lol
Just an FYI: Today (Mon., Oct 5) I was told by Bass Pro that it will be 6-7 weeks before they will credit my account for a return mail-back refund! They will take your money quickly, but cannot give it back timely. I will never use their online ordering again. Cancelling back orders, etc.,....a hot MESS1
Always great to go here with my family. My daughter loves to see the fish and my husband and I love all the different selections of items they carry. Only reason Im giving them 4 stars is I have been here about 5 times and their selection of range bags hasnt changed and has only gotten smaller.
They have EVERYTHING you need for going into the great outdoors here. The prices CAN BE high on some of the goods, but there are usually moderate and budget options available in store for anything you want. Their member system and Protection Plans are an example for how others SHOULD do it. Firearms, bows, camping, fishing, hiking, etc, they have you covered. Their staff is well-informed on gear, and they can help you with making decisions. They also have an in-house Bow Range for archers, and a Bow Technician who can make custom bowstrings and other modifications. I highly recommend going here to see the product hands-on, instead of buying blindly online. If nothing else: you saw it, heard about it, and THEN went online for an informed purchase. 💯
Stellar Customer Service!!!I am finally getting around to writing about the wonderful experience I had in this store, thanks to the exceptional customer service I received in the fishing department from Steve Guiterrez.I was looking for some lures for my dad for his birthday, and started up a conversation with Steve. He showed me some fishing videos and patiently spent time finding out what would be the best fit for my dad. He showed me a fishing rod that I initially thought was too light and not right for my dad, but he had me test it out and I was convinced. I bought the rod and a few lures. My dad, who was also a little unsure about it, LOVES this rod! He caught the two biggest fish on this trip last week. Steve, you’re certainly a “keeper”! Thank you for your patience and guidance!
I have never been to Bass Pro before, but in the past month I visited Bass Pro San Jose twice. The first time to cut arrows that my daughter purchased from Bass Pro on-line, and I was going to purchase a compound bow. As we entered the store we were intercepted by an employee who stated that we must register the arrows before we proceeded. While that was OK, it is her approach that bothered me. I cannot say that she was rude, but she certainly was not trained in customer care. Her approach and her tone were not very inviting. She took us to a counter, and the lady behind that counter stated that she is too busy to help and proceeded to leave the counter altogether. The first lady seemed baffled and decided that she will walk us to the Archery service desk. There all was well and the man who assisted us was very supportive. They did not have the bow that I wanted in stock, so I ordered it online and had it delivered to the San Jose branch to be set-up.When I received confirmation that the bow was delivered, I called the store and I was informed that someone will be there the next day after 10:00 a.m. I drove from Livermore to San Jose to complete the set-up. At arrival, I went to the Customer Service desk as required. The lady behind the counter (Jordan) seemed uninterested in the fact that there were several customers waiting for assistance. She was on the phone for a while, then she was doing some things behind the counter, but never once did she acknowledge the customers who were waiting in line. Eventually she got to the first customer, and I can tell by her demeaner that she was uninterested in his issue. She set him aside and called someone else to help him. I was next. I gave her my order, and she immediately pronounced that there was no one in the archery department today. I was baffled and tried to tell her that I drove all the way from Livermore because I was told that someone will be there. She did not bother to respond and went on to talk to several other employees who gathered in her area, none of which was related to my situation. Eventually, she asked me if I wanted to pick up the bow and return to get it set up another day. I conformed. She tried to call four different persons via her two way communication apparatus. No one answered. She then returned to work with the first customer and another superior who came to assist. I was waiting without any feedback from her about my bow. Finally she asked another employee to get my bow.All in all, I waited 40 minutes just to pick up my bow.It did not bother me as much not being able to get my bow set up, as much as Jordans attitude. There was no empathy in her approach, and she acted as if she really did not care about my issue. It is as if she was saying this is your problem, not mine.As a business owner, I place a very high emphasis on customer care. It is satisfied customers who keep us in business. I could accept one employee having a bad attitude, or a bad day, but what I observed the two visits to the San Jose branch, is that this attitude is wide spread. Most of the employees do not seem to behave in a way that shows any level of care or empathy for their customers.
We are going camping and just bought a Toy Hauler Trailer. We were able to furnish it completely with Bear themed bedding, linens, towels, wall decor, dishes and all the camping equipment you also need. The staff was very helpful and even joked that we were there in the store camping because we spent about 5 hrs. Shopping. I love Bass Pro Shop because it literally has everything for outdoors.
I was really disappointed in this store. Big fan of Cabelas and I’ve bought things from Bass Pro before but when I went to the San Jose store it was awful. The store was in disarray and out of stock on most everything. The employee in the ammo section was not helpful and was a bit rude. I left and went to another sporting goods store where I was helped and treated with respect. Not sure I’ll go back.
A nice store with a great restaurant!. A large gun selection (not sure how long that will last in California), and a great fishing selection. They also carried a great supply of kayaks, and atvs... The food is great although can be a little pricey for my taste, but portions are good, and it has a great atmosphere!
Staff not friendly. I didnt feel welcome and felt under surveillance. Spoke of experience with peers. Did not know this kind of establishment doesnt like our kind. I returned my purchase to boycott this kind of business and the staff really didnt like that. During transaction the employee assisting me asked another associate who was about 10 feet away (basically shouting) if they even sold my items there. I answered Yes before other employee could, which he replied to just scan items. It stated on their website returns without a receipt can be looked up if paid with a cc. They did not advise that the staff would try to humiliate you. I did not allow that behavior, but maybe someone else may not speak up the way I did. I will not be a patron of this company and its affiliates.

2021-10-01Great shop, ammo price very reasonable, not sure if we got any other big box store around Bay Area. Has tons of other hardcore outdoor stuff from hunting, camping, to fishing and boats.

2022-06-27Excellent selection. Top of the line products, and huge store! Love the climbing wall. There’s only one problem—assistance is SO difficult to get! Even the checkout lines are long and slow. This location needs to hire more staff. Period.

2022-04-10Super clean, extremely friendly staff and excellent customer service. Came here to take my firearms test and there was a contactless reservation service where you scan your phone camera to reserve your place in line. Other retailers should follow this process so that you dont have to stand in line if you want to shop around the store while waiting. Genius ideas will keep getting old and new customers to come back.

2022-04-12Casey was very accommodating to my needs. I needed assistance reaching for sunflower seeds and she got them right away. I also needed some help with the shoes I wanted to purchase and she was very thoughtful and even gave me suggestions for the best shoe for me. I will definitely be back. She was the best!

2022-05-28The people behind the gun counter don’t even know the laws. I’ve bought ammo from here several times, and I make the 4 hour drive a couple times a year to stock up on ammo. Today they refused to sell me ammo even though I’ve purchased a firearm so I’m in the system, and can pass the background check. Now I’ll never use my bass pro card at this shop since they’re misinformed

2022-05-11Scotty, Mike, and fishing staff are great just tell them the type of fishing your into and they will help you out , we all appreciate the patience and advice they have to give. I know Im missing some names!!! Although we fisherman are stubborn , when things go wrong they help make it right. Thanks to all the Bass Pro shop employees!! No matter what when you buy from them, they do what it takes to make you happy and help catch more fish!! My experience has been pleasant when it comes to buying fishing poles. I recommend Bass for every beginner fisherman. Keep up the good work 👏

2022-04-01Love this place I could wander around for hours in here. As a first time gun buyer, they made me feel comfortable and gave great practical advice and get this, the guy who helped me was on his off day and just saw me waiting for service and helped me out. Where does that happen anymore?

2022-06-15We love the store but this review is for the grumpy old gentleman at ammo center. He is probably not the right type of person to work at sales. Instead of educate newbies he chooses to sarcastic and laughs at them. Not everyone works at a gun store and have equivalent knowledge as you, would you rather them not asking questions? It’s already not easy for young people to start this sport and this guy is spreading misinformation. He said every shotgun shell is birdshot in a condescending way, there is nothing called buckshot- falseHe said he don’t have any ‘target shots’ available, only hunting. And he said lead is used for hunting only and some shooting range doesn’t allow it— again, false, lead has been banned for hunting since 2019.
