Bancroft Community Garden in Berkeley

I saw an ad on Nextdoor about selling some vegetable and herbal starts at Bancroft Community Garden. That is what drove me there.Even though I wasnt able to buy the starts that I saw advertised. They werent quite ready to be sold yet. I still enjoyed walking around the organic garden. There were people sitting and visiting with each other. There were young people that were preparing a bed to be planted. Someone else was making a new pile of compost. And yet another person was doing some weeding.Here is a place in the city where people can go to hang out with plants. A place to come and be in nature. It is even a place to get some exercise.It was obvious to me that this garden had been around for a long time. There were fruit trees. Someone had built an outside oven. There are two green houses filled with trays of germinating seeds and starts.I am grateful to see places like this in Berkeley.

I grew up in this neighborhood in the 70s and its really done to transformation for the greatest effect on the community its always a pleasure to see community at work I love being a part of that the people are really wonderful in the neighborhood I hope it continues to be that way and now and through the future.

Have had a plot here for a couple years and its like a little garden of Eden. Love this place!

This lovely garden has a donation-based produce stand and is open most days during lunch and before sunset. 🥗👌🏼
