This location has terrible customer service. DO NOT RENT HERE- Rude and Overcharges on RATES!! I would give this location ZERO Stars. In May, I walked into this location which is just down the street from my home. I walked in at 9:30 am and spoke to Jessica.I asked if I could RSVP a car. Her response was Do you have a reservation? I said no but can I make one now with the same rate online?She said you are going to have to make the RSVP online to get the same discount. I responded okay- I have my phone here I guess I can do it now- since you cant help me. As I stood there the earliest I could RSVP was 12:30. I asked, Ok can you let me know what cars you have available.Her response was I will not know until you pick up your car. I said cant you look in your inventory- you have at least 15 cars outside? She said I cant tell you until you pick up your car! I said, so I need to now come back in three hours since you cant give me one now and I had to RSVP online She said, Yes, I cant help you until then. She was VERY RUDE, with SHORT ANSWERS. I said, Wow you should not work here if you are so RUDE to customers. She just looked at me with a blank stare and said Come back at 12:30 and I can help you then.To make things worse, I chose to extend my rental- for another week! I was charged a $20 extension fee at a HIGHER rate then what I had booked online. JESSICA is the rudest customer service rep I have ever come in contact at any place of business ever!! She should not be working in a CS role at any place of business! TERRIBLE Service.GO TO ENTERPRISE on Mira Mesa (6620 Mira Mesa Blvd)---ENTERPRISE BLOWS AVIS out of the WATER!!!
Wow. The customer service of the front desk agent was INCREDIBLY rude. So much so that I listened and WATCHED her hang up on two customers. When I came back to the office, AFTER she couldnt even give correct directions to the location of the vehicle, I informed her the lights on the dashboard had lit up. When she returned from checking the car, she stated the lights were NOT on and the car is ACCURATELY available for pickup. What a RUDE little girl.
NOT COVID - 19 prepared. Car was filthy inside and I found a dirty glove inside the car. I called to tell Jessica but nothings as done to “make it right”. I had to wipe down the entire car and dispose of a 2 dirty gloves from who knows who?!? All this to keep my family safe - I would recommend a different car rental company.
Great rental car service in the Carmel Valley/East Del Mar area. Customer service was great, and pick up and drop off were extremely efficient. In addition, there is a gas station across the street which adds to the ease of returning the car with a full tank of gas. If youre a Costco member, you can save 15% or more on car rentals here.
***FRAUD ALERT*** Be sure to read the fine print on your agreement. I rented a car from Astra Auto Rental llc an I know for a fact, this is a common practice for many rental car companies there and elsewhere. Be careful if youre renting a car out of Avis located on 3890 Valley Centre Dr Ste 106 San Diego, CA 92130 My estimate read: Excess mileage ~ Included $00.00This was fraudulent and completely misleading. In fact, what they didnt tell me was that EVERY mile was 33 cents the moment I drove it off their lot. I racked up a $350.00/excess mileage fee. The term excess clearly connotes that a specific number of miles are not subject to such a charge. This is not the case and they knew it.When I called customer service today, they told me the $Zero balance on my estimate was based on the car having zero miles, which is ridiculous. Even if they had estimated 10 miles, the charge would have been posted as $3.30, prompting me to contact them PRIOR to the reservation to ensure I understood their policy.My paperwork clearly indicated a drop off in3890 Valley Centre Dr Ste and the 3 people I dealt with prior to getting behind the wheel all new it, yet remained silent....Bad Customer Service by Jessica Escobedo misleading learn from my experience stay far away.
If youre wanting to rent a car in the Carmel Valley area, San Diego, we could not recommend the Avis pick up at Piazza Carmel Shopping Mall more warmly. Its cheaper that picking up at the airport, less hassle, and little or no queueing. Jessica is very friendly, efficient and accommodating.
Hello! im putting a Second review for this AVIS. This is NOT about the office per se but about a very BAD POLICY Avis has. They have a toll road contraption on the car and IF YOU GO THRU a toll road even once ( which is usually $5 max) you get charged $4/day for EVERY day you had the car. So, i had the car for 10 days and went thru toll ONLY one time. I got charged $45!!!! Avis, get a grip.
They charged fuel at $10 per gallon even though the fuel was filled (Full) at the opposite Shell station just few minutes before the return. While returning they noted the fuel as Full on my initial receipt. However after 2 hours I was surprised with a charge on my credit card for Fuel. I had to call Avis customer service and sent them the gas station receipt to get this rectified. What an unncessary hazzle? Beware when returning car at this location.
Quick and easy. We got an upgrade code off retailmenot and received a 2015 Jetta TSI, I included the gas which ended up covering half a tank that woulda cost me that much anyway. Ended up spending about 126$ for 2 days and driving all over the san Diego area.Great location and friendly staff. I will book with AVIS on my next trip for sure.
If I could put negative stars, I would, I called twice and wasnt treated with any common courtesy , EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF, treated me with such lack of respect words cant explain and all I wanted to do it give you money!!! I was compelled to file a complaint and not locally.....hope someone gets let go, they need to fire everyone and start from scratch. Tap,tap UBER come pick me up

2022-07-13For two years the 7 seat vehicles I have rented were not clean. There was a lot of trash in the back area: cans, bottles, food wrappers, rotten fungus-covered fruit that stained the carpet. Additionally one of the seatbelts did not work. Check the vehicle you rent for trash and the seat belts before driving away.

2019-09-30Picked up a car yesterday and was quite surprised that the level of customer service was equivalent to the condition of the car. First let me tell you what this car did not come with; a full tank of gas, a clean interior that didn’t have spilled drink all over the center console or a trash free interior that I didn’t have to find a store that would let me use their trash to throw away. Now what this car did come with was a rude agent at the store, a terrible customer service experience on the phone and a guarantee that I will never rent from them again. As a preferred member they barely apologized for the condition of the car and made it seem as though it wasn’t that big of deal. So, if you like driving a dirty car with other peoples trash and getting terrible customer service this is the rental car company for you!

2021-05-05I had a car I drove from the airport and it got a flat tire at the hotel. It was Saturday evening and this Avis was not open until Monday morning. When I arrived I was met by Jessica and she said that she could help me. She couldn’t repair the tire but she was able to get me into another vehicle that somebody had just turned in. She then went out and wash the windows and vacuumed it and sent me on my way. She is the best Avis/budget representative I’ve ever dealt with! Thanks again Jessica.

2021-03-01Especially in times of COVID having a good neighborhood branch with good quality cars available is a a great benefit. I appreciate the service, the short wait times and other aspects that make this much more enjoyable than the experience at an airport location.

2018-04-23This was the worst car rental experience I ever had. Ill never rent from Avis again.A short version of my experience is:1. Cars here are NOT maintained properly. Not even cleaned very well.2. They lied to me and attempted to fool me to switch to a smaller car than I paid for.3. They think it is customers responsibility to check the condition of the car and maintain it.4. Customer support call and road side assistance call are next to useless.Heres the full story:He first gave me a Mazda 6. ts tire pressure warning light was stuck on. and did not turn off even after I drove few blocks. When I went back to the office and told him about it, he said the car had been all checked ok yet it was not him who had checked the car.I requested another equivalent car, and he said there is no other car available. I insisted, and he tried to fool me into a smaller car - a Mazda 3 - claiming that it was the same car. After pretending to be working on a computer for a while, he pulled out another Mazda 6. It was a mystery how this one got available suddenly few minutes after he said there was no other car available.When I started this car, its tire warning light was on again. Furthermore, there were dents and scratches all over, and there was disgusting smoke smell. I went back to the office, and this time he locked up the door and did not respond to me at all. It was 5 min past 5 pm which was the closing time of the office, yet my reserved pick up time was 5 pm and he was in the office talking to me 1 minute ago.I called Avis customer support number and told them that my car had tire warning light on. They said, there was nothing they can do, and told me to call their road side assistance number. So, I called their road side assistance number, and it took 2 hours for someone to show up. Furthermore, the guy did not even bring an air pump. He told me to go to gas station and check the air pressure myself. I dont know from when it was a customer responsibility to maintain a rental car.I ended up checking the pressure myself, and the tire pressure was actually good. Thus, I had to hit the road with a concern that something else about the tire might be wrong because the warning light was on all the time. I also had to keep the windows open most of the time to air out the smoke smell. How lame this was.
