Small rental store, but super quick and easy. I had made a reservation online for a week-long rental, and everything was ready to go when I went to pick it up. 15 min tops. I even got my car upgraded. The drop-off was equally quick and easy. Id rent from here again the next time Im in Clairemont.
THIEVES! They ripped me off by adding on 82 miles to my bill the next day after I signed for 60 miles which was accurate. They charged my credit card without authorization. I filled a complaint, missed a deadline and now I’m forced to pay or file a suit.
These guys a Great! Quick friendly. The only place I go. Cars are clean. They work with you on time. There is a gas station right next door. Cars are new. Low miles. I had 1 on the many cars I have rented with a low tire pressure. They upgraded me with no questions asked. I wont go anywhere else

I have rented from the Avis on Balboa at least a dozen times. Great customer service. Cars are always full of gas and cleaned well.
Quick & easy rental. I needed a rental while my car was in the shop, and this location was a short walk from the dealership. I got a reasonably good rate, and everything went smoothly.
Friendly staff, pick up and drop off of car within 10 minutes, easy to park and away from airport traffic.
I have been using this rental agency for over a decade. George and Jose always treat me well, if they dont have time to prep the car on short notice, they usually balance that with some other fair consideration. They are my only choice for a San Diego car rental.

2022-05-27Told 3 miles from airport. Cab was 49$. Car was dirty and had lots of exterior problems. They gave a discount and let us return it near air rport

2021-04-13I was given a suv that had expired registration plates from December 2020... also the registration in the glove box was from 2020. Six months? I drove around an entire day, I could have been pulled over and stranded on the road if it had gotten towed. I returned the vehicle the next morning and the guy at the counter different than the first guy gave me a different vehicle with no hassle.. but I must say the the first vehicle with the bad plates had a really bad smell inside, it smelled like Marijuana or something.. that smell made me sick. I was not happy with the first guy who checked me in... he was not friendly at all, very rude when I would ask him a question, when I first called to make a registration he was misleading about the price. I asked him out the door what would be the price he said 59.00 when I got to the store he said it would be 75.00... the first guy gave me a bad experience with expired plates and a car that smelled bad... his costumer service sucks.. now the second guy had great costumer service and was very helpful.

2021-05-11Horrible ExperienceI rented a car from Budget for three days. When I received my CC statement, I realized Avis charged me twice $543 on the same day. Budget also charged me for the correct amount $182 on the same day as Avis.When I tried to resolve with Avis this issue, I was not able to. I provided the copy of the CC statement where they could see double charge, they said we dont see any charges, just dispute those charges with your CC company.This is horrible experience I ever had with the rental company.

2021-06-16Stay away.The first time they charged me it was incorrect by over $100. Then when my friend and I went to return the car, they were closed despite us being there at the hour we said we’d be there. So we couldn’t return the car. No one told us they’d be closing or to get there earlier than your drop off time.To be fair, the employees were nice when we checked in. It was everything afterwards that was awful.

2021-04-03Lol dont trust the price they tell you theyll charge. I got a receipt for $355 when I rented a car and then I extended and was told Id be charged $65 more for two more days...all gravy. Welp I come to check my account for my paycheck to hit and sure enough theres a charge for $642 dollars from them!!! I messaged them and they said every charge is correct and I dropped off late so I had an extra fee. The man on the phone asked what time id like to drop it off when I extended and I said 11 am and he said fine. The lady who was dealing with my problem said since I picked up at first at 9 am it needed to be dropped off by then too....why TF ask me when I want to drop off if youre going to charge me for being late?!?! Horrible service, dont trust the price they quote you or take it and deal with a couple hundred dollars more charged. Jasmine was the one dealing with my issue and was not helpful at all....literally basically just shrugged off the fact that I was falsely told one charge would be processed when it was grossly incorrect. Save yourself from this place, theyre sketchy.

2020-09-17My last two rentals I asked for a certain model both times they were waiting for me very happy about that. I did put in the order at least a week early in person I am a dinosaur and like doing business face to face the gentleman at the Balboa here in San Diego is extremely helpful every time I have been there he is an asset to your company Brian Trum

2020-08-02Rented a truck online, tried to give us a van instead. Held us up over a charge not listed at online check out for almost $100 and rented us a broken dolly. Make sure to be very careful if renting from them.

2020-01-28I showed up at 5:58 for a prepaid 6p rental. Not the best move, but I tried calling 3 times on my way there to let them know I was stuck in traffic. No one answered. When I arrive the lights were off, door shut. Thankfully I was able to find the employee heading out. Just annoying to find people cutting corners to end their day 5 minutes early. Embarrassing for the company.
