Ive been coming here for years. Great customer service. Good meat selection but Ive bought chicken breast twice here and twice its been spoiled. Meat Ive never had a problem with. Always stocked very well with fruits and veggies. Good prices as well. It gets packed really quickly at all times. Parking lot is small and shared with a water dispensary and beauty salon.
The meat, fruits and vegetables they sell there are always fresh.The flour tortillas they make are very good too.
Good clean market, sometimes they show a type of meat and deliver a lower price. Need to be careful and double-check. Today it happened again, I ordered and paid for 3 pounds of new York steak and got another cut that does not even look as new York cut. The butcher may have switched it unknowingly but it has happened several times.
Typically I usually go to Appletree on Broadway and Oxford but over the weekend I chose to go to this one on 3rd Avenue closer to my house. I picked up some meat and two packages of cheese. Once I got home I was going to open one of the packages of cheese when I noticed inside there was mold. Grab the other package of cheese that one to had mold. I went back to the store with my receipt I notified the manager. I was able to exchange my cheese but there was no acknowledgement of how inconvenience it was or how gross and no apology. Once I got home with my new two packages. I opened up one and again there was mold. Unfortunately while picking it out I couldnt see it from the outside, the packaging was hiding it. If youre going to shop here be very careful and examine your food very closely. I certainly wont be going back
I would of gave it a 5 star yesterd June 22 2020. Because after all my family and I have been going to this store since we where kids. But since this situation with the covi19 it has been very hectic. Before they where making people stand 6 feet apart and in line outside until yesterday. It was jam packed and out of control I walked in with my kid and left immediately. Went down to another good store Santa Fe Market with only a small amount of people. Made it more comfortable to shop that for sure.
Must wear mask to enter. Fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, tortillas, beer, mini market. You can purchase fresh beans, rice, guacamole. No lines plexi glass at checkout. Handicap entrance.
The cashier Alba had a problem with a previous customer, NSF, & wasnt paying much attention to my transaction, bcuz she was talking to her supervisor, abt it, so she just handed me my receipt, not knowing I had requested cash back. I had to remind her. Meat dept service was excellent👍
Merchandise in general is at good qulity rate, produce itself is quite fresh and probably from near by suppliers. Facilities are usually well kept and staff is approachable for service needs for the most part. The selection on cuts is not vast, but satisfies all clientele . They do not have a bathroom for clients . And the butchers should have more disposable gloves available. But I do prefer to go there than any other establishment .

Been going to find market for bout 20 years. This market has everything you need for your carne asada bbq! Fresh veggies, all cuts of meat, fresh salsa, tortillas, and lots of beverages. Very friendly workers, lots of produce, good prices. Parking area small and very busy.

Look for NY steak specials, ceviche and other seafood on point, way better and cheaper than Northgate in that area.

A small but amazing place to get many stuff, ranging from natural fruits and meat to a large variety of certain types of candy and snacks.The best thing here are the sunflower seeds and the local pistachios that no one likes to buy, so you shouldnt have any problem if you want some.

I asked to have cut in half 2 ribs and they said no. This is a first in any meat market for me. The atmosphere felt stressed.
Update 3/24/2019: This place is still the best for their meats. We get the thin cut New York steak and the thin cut flank steak for our carne asada style BBQs. They still dont disappoint.More than 3 years ago:This place is great for their carne asada by the pound. Meat is not overly flavored, so you can still appreciate the taste of the meat. We tried another Apple Tree on University in City Heights, but definitely not the same place.Every time we have a BBQ, we make the trek down here. Its well worth it!

Way too many people way too close to each other while dealing with a pandemic not respecting six feet or any laws in place at this time. Except people were wearing mask but still they had over 20 people in a very tiny store. I will never go there again

Horrible! Came in because they had a sale on New York steak for $2.99 a lb, went to the meat department the last day of the sale and asked for 6 lbs, I was told by worker that they didn’t have any more meat left but that he could sell me the meat they were going to sell the next day for $1 more a lb. How does that make any sense? I told him that was false advertisement and asked for a manager, he said there wasn’t one. As I was walking out, I told the cashier what had happened and she pointed out the manager to me. I told the manager what happened and he went to talk to the worker, as he was talking to him, some customers who had witnessed maybe half of the original exchange, intervened and told the manager I had been rude so the manager decided to confront me, at this point I was pretty upset, because not only had the original worked tried to rip me off and refused to call a manager over, but the manager had sided with some people who had didn’t even witness the whole exchange so I decided to tell them where they could shove the meat and left. The manager took it upon himself to harass me as I was walking out, making comments such as that’s why your hair is so gray, cos you’re angry. Anyway, I will never step foot in this store again and neither will my family. If the guy would’ve just told me they were sold out, I would’ve walked away, no problem but he tried to upsell me then refuse to tell me who his manager was. Not that the manager was much help, he decided to listen to some gossiping “ladies” (that’s putting it nicely), instead of trying to correct the problem.
They werent selling any Apple trees, which was very disappointing, however they did sell Pepsi Seeds and they were on sale!

I will never shop from this dump they over charged me about $5 off of $23 and when i call ask for manager in English and the guy keep answering me in spaniah and then he hang up on me ,i call back no answer and the recording says the store is close wich was lie.I gave them one star because there is no 0 star. I m suprise they are still in business.
Best Carne Asada preparada in San Diego. Upgrade to top sirloin and ask for extra seasoning. BBQ it but dont dry it out. Awesome. And always have fresh ready to eat avocados.

I have been shopping here for over 25 years and it drives me crazy coming here. The is absolutely NO parking and everybody feels they have the right of way. it used to be my #1 go to place to shop but it certainly isnt anymore. I hate coming here. Sorry Apple Tree!

I go there for the meat. Its a busy place if you go between 3 and 5pm most likely you need to wait for parking. But worth it! Other stuff like cans, eggs or cleaning supplies very expensive
Ive been shopping here for 40 years. Its an easy in and out but they are a little pricey. The parking lot is small and always full. Its a very busy place.

2022-03-30Best meat in town and always on special. All the real deal to make an out of this world dinner. First you do when arrive is head for the meat counter and grab a number this place can get busy but they move so fast. Friendly staff makes all feel welcome.

2022-03-29I often shop at the Apple Tree Market in Southwest Chula Vista and I think its a great store. Their meat prices are great. A nice t-bone, enough to feed 3, can be bought for seven or eight bucks. Apple Tree is also well- staffed, with fast, helpful cashiers, butchers and produce stockers. Their produce recently went up quite a bit, but its convenient, especially when the nearby Walmart carries no fresh produce. Apple Tree also has a hot food section selling Mexican favorites, and freshly made, still-hot tortillas. For a smaller, neighborhood store, Apple Tree stocks a good selection of items.
