Average park good for a light hike in the evening. It’s windy and could give a headache if you’re sensitive but overall it’s pretty nice. We went there on a Friday evening and it wasn’t that crowded when we got there but when it was around sunset it got pretty busy. Recommend this place for a light exercise during the week.
I am definitely glad we came across this Alviso Marina County Park! Located in Santa Clara, California, this park offers beautiful views of San Francisco bay and the Amazing Wildlife that call it home. Bird of many Varieties live in the vast marshes that outline the bay, which is accessible by walking the multiple boardwalks leading into the marshes. Hiking, Jogging, Picnicking, Bird Watching, and strolling along the manicured pathways are among some of the most fun favorite outdoor activities within this Alviso County Park.My friends and I love natures so this place is absolutley a great quick getaway for us since it is not too far from home. Such An Amazing Scenes and a beautiful experience!😍
This place has definitely changed over the years and still is. Besides the on going construction up on the Old Boat Dock Area, youll find newer walk ways and gravel type paths that reach out a distance. There is a 9.0 walking loop around them. The views of the bay are calming. There is a unique smell, which I believe comes from the local plants and the Bay itself. Adjacent to the Old Boat Dock is a newer one just over into the other parking area, which as plenty of parking too. Youll be able to launch your boat to head out into the San Francisco Bay. You can also find bait, kayak and boat rentals near by at Laines Baits and Rentals. There is a Charter Rental for site seeing the bay as well. Off the boat launch parking lot, down the gravel path heading south, youll see a blue building. That is the South Bay Yacht Club that is not open to the public, but has a members following. The history of this place tells a tale of many and boasts an outdoor plaque of Mountain Charlie. If you continue on this southern path, youll be walking adjacent to the Gautalupe River that heads towards San Jose.
The two section parking lot is at a dead end and right on the edge of the bay (its more like marshes and levies in this area of the the bay). Both parking areas are large and the far one is generally used more so for boat launching. Theres a well maintained bathroom on site.Off the initial parking lot there is access to trails that snake North all the way to just below the Dumbarton bridge. Theres even a ghost town (Drawbridge) you can view from afar if you follow the trail along the railroad tracks
Lovely place to visit at evening. I went at around 6 ish when it was cloudy and it looked absolutely gorgeous. The lake was clean (saw some white lather along the sides) and it felt very calm. A short hike around the lake is a good option for evening walk. Less crowded as well.
It’s a perfect spot to spend your evening, beautiful sunset perfect colors of sunset and a spot where you can click some really amazing shots .....pre wedding shoots, maternity shoot or weather it’s for modeling I love this rustic place. It’s a hidden gem you must go ....just carry a mosquito repellent as that’s the only drawback after sunset ...for seeing the color pop up wait 10-15 mins after sunset .....m sure you will fall in love with the place and views
A wonderful place to walk, very beautiful and very fun. Walking out into the bay is a really great feeling. Being so close to the water and out on these very narrow peninsulas is very cool. Not dog friendly though! Please be aware before bringing your pooch along. Its quite windy, though as long as its a reasonably warm day and youre moving you probably wont need a sweater. I didnt see much in terms of amenities, so bring your own water and make sure you potty before you head out.Looking forward to heading back.
Flat trails that go on for miles. Expansive views of salt ponds and mountains in the distance. Lots of birds, although they can be far away and harder to see. They close the gates when this park closes at night so you can’t get in. Also be aware it opens at 8. I think you can park nearby and use the trail though… the signs here say the trail can be used from sunrise to sunset but the park is only 8am to sunset.I went to Alviso Marina County Park and Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve Trailhead at around 10am on a Thursday so I could compare them. I walked for about an hour on each, heading west from Alviso and north from Baylands. The birds at Baylands are a lot of fun. There are birds at Alviso but they are spread out and farther away. Overall Baylands is more beautiful and fun with the birds everywhere.Alviso is less crowded. I wouldnt say Baylands is crowded and a midday weekday but if youre there for an hour you might walk by 30 people, whereas during the same time youll walk by 5 people at Alviso.Alviso doesnt allow dogs on the trails whereas Baylands does. Alviso opens at 8am, whereas Baylands opens at sunset, but I think you can park nearby and access the Alviso trail anyways, so this might not matter (I havent tested it).Overall Id usually suggest Baylands because of the birds there (assuming theyre in season... is there a season for them or are they always there?) unless you really just want solitude, in which case Id recommend Alviso.
We took a 90 minute tour of the Alviso Slough. It was beautiful, inspiring, and educational. It is also free, but you need to reserve a spot ahead of time (Ill say how below). My 98-year-old mom loved it. The Rangers and staff were kind, caring, and passionate. A great blue heron very close to our boat was just one of many thrills. Luke, our tour guide, was fabulous. For tickets, go to parks.sccgov.org and click on Programs & Events.
Spectacular sunset views right by the bay waters and with Mission Peak in the backdrop! As the sun sets, you see different colour bands on the mission peak hills on the background. The foaming waters of the salt ponds have an unpleasant smell, but the wind breeze blowing inwards greatly lessens the odour. There are lots of small birds in the wetlands and their chirps fill the air.The park closes promptly at sunset and a vigilant volunteer reminds you on his megaphone before proceeding to issue citations for cars still parked there after sunset. I recommend parking on the street outside the park gates to avoid the potential for a parking citation.
Today was such a beautiful day take kids out for some fresh air and the beautiful sunset happens to take our breath away in the fields of amber gold. Kids enjoy the fresh air as the pandemic we are always home. On our way home we catch the train go by... its nice now as 6pm or 7pm Spring its still bright out rather than dark... come and take a nice walk on the path-
I had a fun walk here with my parents. Even though it rains the mud on the paths doesnt go very deep. Its slippery, but not something youll sink into. Currently there is construction, which means that the Alviso Slough Loop is interrupted, so youll have to walk back the same way you came. You can recognize the construction from the fence on the past as you come to the trail, if this fence is missing the construction should be over and you can do the full loop (~8 miles, I think).
This hike is good for all skill levels. But some parts of the trail was closing for the construction. It is no shade, but it’s nice to walk along the bay, listen to the sound of the nature, and get some fresh air.No need hiking gear, hat is needed. But it can be windy, check with the weather before you go is the best.Happy hike.
Great place for people to running, biking and hiking. The wind from the sea is so soft and cool. There are mountain view and Bay views. Not too crowded, and parking space is a lot and free. People living around likes to take a walk with friends and families there. Many photographers are taking nice pictures there as well.
I loved it!I went for a run for the first time there and it didnt disappoint. The dirt roads are a great alternative to pave roads. Less impact on your knees. The views of the water and mountains inspire you to enjoy the scenery and run and the freshness of the oceans breeze keeps you cool while running. There were some people, but the further in I went, the less people I saw.I also didnt find it difficult to find parking, but I think I just got lucky that day. It seems this park gets busy. There are public restrooms. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. One last thing: when youre here, walking, running, or meditating, it really feels that you are in a different world.😁🤘
We went to the park around 10am on a Sunday. The 1st parking lot already full but the 2nd parking lot had a lot space left, parking should not be a problem. I saw several people came here to bike. Some came to kayak. My family and I came to hike, walk around the pond. It’s really hot, so dress appropriately and bring a lot of water. With kids, it took us about two hours to complete the loop. There were a lot of birds to watch. The pond itself was interesting as the water had brown red color in some areas. Overall the park is good for hiking and biking. But it’s really hot with no shade at all, so only four stars from me.
Not a whole lot to do and the trails arent that well marked. I didnt see many birds contrary to my expectations. But good area for a quiet walk. Parking was plentiful but I saw some unable to get a spot later in the evening. Also make sure you leave by 5 pm as the gate on the road does close and you might get stuck inside.
Beautiful Place to watch sunset. Just to have a relaxing walk and even for cycling. You will find lots of birds. It is nice place for a quick run. It’s windy and sunny too. There is no shade it’s open. The sound of wind and water will take you to a magical world of Mother Nature. I am sure u will have great time. It’s good for a small hike.
Refreshing walk around a reservation wetland! Highly recommend for a day trip for both locals and visitors alike. The shortest loop around is roughly a 2 mile walk, so bring a bike if you dont want to spend too long out there. Remember to leave your dogs at home though! They are not allowed in the park. The breeze from the water perfectly complements the hot sun on a summers day. Its also not too far away from food and other local attractions. Definitely stop by if youre free any weekend!
A hidden gem in the heart of Silicon Valley. The Alviso County Park is ideal for hiking, biking, and boating. The park was once home to the port of Alviso from where steam boats carried people and goods to San Francisco. In the later years it was home to salt ponds. Today, the park offers several miles of trails nestled amidst the marshlands that are home to many species of wild life.
Summary: Perfect trail loop for running. Flat surface. No shade so wear decent sunblock in summer.Alviso loop is 8.70 miles. Can be done either CW or CCW, i personally prefer CCW as the last 3 miles are slightly downhill. Great location for photos, salt deposits from the ocean foaming, plenty of birds swimming/moving in bunch gives a great view. Add the 3.1 mile Mallard Slough loop to make it perfect 12 mile run. Running alongside ongoing Amtrack feels good too.No shade whatsoever, so if you plan to start late be prepared for scorching heat with water/sunshade. Evening gets quite windy, so try to avoid running in evening time if you wish to run fast or easy.It has been staple trail for my long runs which dont last more than 15 miles.Make sure to park outside the gate if you want to go before 8am (park opening time) and need to leave after 5pm (park closing time).
This is one of my favorite locations to practice photography. Sunsets and sunrises are amazing. There is a railway track with water next to it. Makes a great shot to shoot train with reflection. Depending on the clouds sunset shots can be amazing with reflection on the water. This is a great location for cycling, jogging and walking as well. Park closes at sunset, make sure you leave or park your car outside the park on the street. Otherwise you may end up getting a ticket. Great location for photo shoots. Highly recommend this place.
We did the Alviso Slough Trail. It is about 8-9miles loop and walks over the old Ghost Town of Drawbridge. There is almost 0 elevation gain. The salt ponds offer a unique mirror like reflection of the scenery behind. This is also a wildlife refuge and you can see a lot of birds in the various salt ponds. Good place to take a stroll.
Nice place to unwind. Sit in the car looking out to Moffett Field. You can see Hoover Tower at Stanford University and Dunbarton Bridge up the bay. Or... Walk / bike the trails in the area. Boat launch. Bathrooms! Water fountain for dogs and hoomans! Parking gate locks @ dusk.
This is a lovely long walk with a lot of history, flora and fauna to cover. Its a great place to take the kids oit for a science excursion and also a great place for a run or a bike ride. Love the flocks of birds taking flight just before sunset. Take a walk around the park as well. You can spend hours to explore the entire park.
Easy drive from Sunnyvale with a lot of parking lot. Rest room is okay, cant really complain and the sceneries are just lovely.Walking here was a great experience. It was clean, serene and quiet. Definitely one of the hikes / walks I would love to do over and over again. This is not shaded walk tho, so bring sunblock and hat to protect yourself against the sun.
Very beautiful place to go. Great place to watch the sunset. Happened to catch the red sun after a wild fire, and it honestly can only be seen at its best in real life. There are many birds riding the wind next to the ocean here; you just see them going round and round. Has a cute little walkway with pop up houses. Nice to take pictures here.
Nice park and calm environment to spend quality time. It has parking lot of about 40+ cars and it’s FREE!Amtrak can be witnessed but not having high frequency though. Also, if you are lucky you can see people on kayak and boats.Planes departing at SJC airport takes turns to its route almost over this place. It would be fun to watch planes for kids and for adults too :)Park hours are 8 am to sunset.
Nice place to the eyes with open space usually not crowded. You can take nice pictures of open blue sky, sunset and sunrise. Not so nice place to the nose if you are sensitive to smells. I am not sure if the smell comes from the sewage refinery facility nearby in Milpitas or is just due to the still ponds and dead bodies water. Free parking available in the park or off the street nearby. Theres public restrooms near the parking.
Came here during a bike tour along the bay. Beautiful quiet area, almost no people, many birds of all kinds, pure nature. Bike lanes are good, the shallow water reflects the clouds in a unique way, the smell of salt and thousands of blossoms was terrific. No sounds except for the birds and some planes in distance. Really an escape!
I always wanted to see the salt pans. This is a very nice trail for having a closer look at the salt pans. Isolated from the crowd - not too many people around very nice place to go for a week end walk with your kids and dogs. If you need there are many Mexican joints on the way back in Alvisio - Great food.
Gorgeous walking/running (or biking) trails. Feel like youre completely open to expansive views 360 degrees. Great place for sunsets. The salt flats are very interesting when dried out.One tip, the ranger closes the gate after sunset but you can avoid having to worry about your car getting trapped if you use the street parking just outside the gate. Also from time to time can be windy.
10 min drive from San Jose. Very good peace place and jogging cycling swimming at permitted place. Water mixed up clear and red soil. Seagull 🐦 and sparrow lots of rabbits. Near we have water treatment plant from San Jose. Site tour available on week days except sunday.lots of car parking and rest room ok. Mental and physical mind gets some relax due this peaceful place.
Google Maps/Earths satellite imagery may show Alviso Marina County Park as being mainly a wetland or a swamp. When I visited the park in the summer, there was still a swamp near the parking area, an area where where you can hike on boardwalks and what appears to be some earthen barriers. But north of the parking area, in contrast to the wetland, there was instead a brilliant white salt flat, with some reddish ponds sprinkled in. It looked kind of different and neat, something I expect to see more in Nevada or Utah instead of the coastline. Then again, Im not from the west coast, so Im probably being amazed by something thats pretty common Californians.
First time there today. It was really nice. Bathroom was open and clean. The trails were wide enough to pass others, as there were quite a few people walking along the trails. Trails were long. Nice big parking lot. Enjoyed my walk, but seemed like there was a lot more to see and walk along. There was a nice breeze from the water...Cant believe at one time there were lots of boats actually docked there. So different now. I will go back and explore again soon.
A nice landing into the South Bay levee estuary systems. Park inside the gate, but dont get caught with your car inside the gate after closing. There is the prospect of some legal parking close outside. Can be a little windy..., makes it cold if moisture in the airWalk through the parking lot to the boat launch, read the plauqe info, sit and watch the people, periodic small boat launch and of course the birds, birds, birds...Interesting to see the Cal Train appear from what seems deep in the Bay and high speed swoosh directly through the Park, on its way to delivering commuters into the busy busines sections of Silicon Valley. Some weekdays, sit there at lunch. Theres no one there but you and the critters, no one bothers you. Could completely forget youre 1 minute drive from the bash going on in the Silicon Valley.
Nice leveled water front trails, fragrant fennel plants, observation decks and wide open vistas! This park is not a usual park with play structure and big lawns or forest with hiking trails.. still it’s unique in its own way with lot of Ranger led programs and events! Offers great opportunities for nature photography.
Loved the sunset view in hereHidden gem right on the water with great Bay views! Alviso is definitely the quiet corner of San Jose. This park is kind of out of the way to get to, but once youre here theres lots of great trails around the salt ponds. Perfect place to relax in the afternoon and never gets very crowded.
My favorite spot for a short hike or bike ride after work: The sunsets are gorgeous, and even if it is just miles away from the Silicon Valley hustle & bustle, it is a quiet and relaxing environment. Lots of birds (pelicans, ducks geese, herons, etc.), squirrels, jackrabbits, and I even saw a fox there once.
The half mile hike from the Courty Park map is a really nice hike. Easy, accessible but not boring at all. We can find three Lookout areas. After the route, I continully go straight north instead of west to the Aliso Slough Trail. Some constructions are going on and not very interesting till I climb over the traintrack to the other side of the trail called Mallard Slough Trail.
Great views, not too crowded. Pretty surreal area in South Bay.I brought my kayak, only saw a few other kayakers. Couple of motor boats were there with people fishing. I paddled north 4.5 miles to Coyote Creek, took a break, and paddled back.Beware of the tides in Alviso Slough! I was paddling against the current both ways. As tide was rising, currents were flowing south. As low tide was approaching, currents switched toward the north. They have a map, and a tides booklet at the boat launch.Dont forget sunscreen!
Our family really enjoyed our sunset watching from this park very good vantage point You can see the bay as it stretches out unfortunately it was kind of in hazy day so we couldnt see much up north like San Francisco or anything. But we all had fun and I got some good sightseeing in got some good pictures and we all saw a great sunset.
Such a beautiful park. The trails were maintained and flat so taking the stroller was easy. The salt ponds on one side and then the marshy greenery on the other made a beautiful view! We saw so many cool birds. Bathrooms were nice and flushable. Wish we could have looked around the old cannery that now looks abandoned. Pretty neat place.
Continues to be one of my favorite spots in the south bay / San Jose to take in nature. Traffic to the park has increased significantly since covid-19 restrictions, especially during sunsets in the summer.Parking during this trip was contested and many people were making their own spots, or in the case of the boat parking area with longer lanes, trapping other cars by double parking behind them. Cant blame the park for the idiocy and inconsiderate actions of others.Because of the wildfires happening at the time, the smoke and haze made for incredible sunset views.
This place is a hidden gem, mostly, a reprieve away from the madness that is Silicon Valley, but it is also well loved on weekends and holidays and often times exceeds parking capacity - especially as the parking lots share dual duty with regular vehicles and trucks with boat trailers.Parking is free and is available from 8am to 30 minutes before sunset every day, as well on the city streets outside of the gates. Just make sure to observe any parking restrictions and be respectful of the Alviso residents who have to deal with a constant inflow of sometimes misbehaved visitors. Park hours are the same whether you park inside or outside of the gates. This is a wonderful place to go hiking or biking with a flat dirt levee system that extends you into the system of sloughs and salt ponds. Depending on the water levels in the ponds and the salt/brine content at the time of your visit, the ponds can be an assortment of blues, greens, oranges, and browns, or even dried up completely and filled with pure white fluffy salt. You will see a lot of different types of shorebirds, ducks, and birds of prey here, especially during migration seasons, and if you are lucky you might spot a harbor seal swimming down the sloughs. Alviso and the surrounding levees are often much cooler than San Jose, with a pleasant bay breeze or a full-on wind rolling in over the trails. The innermost loop is about 3 miles, but you can make this longer or shorter based on your needs. If you want to do the 3 mile loop, I recommend starting by going counter clockwise on your first visit, as the levees can get a little confusing at first and they arent marked for some reason. From the parking lot looking out, start by going right and following the path that parallels the train tracks. After passing the first salt pond take the first left and keep turning left when junctions arise.Helmets are required for cyclists of all ages in county parks on any dirt trail.Dogs are allowed, but only in the parking lot/restroom area and the surrounding pathways. They are not allowed onto the wooden gangways or dirt levee trails. Outside of the parking lot it is a Federally designated wildlife sanctuary, and the presence of dogs disrupts the normal behaviors of the surrounding wildlife populations.Fishing from the shoreline is not permitted anywhere in Alviso, you have to be on a boat/kayak in the water to do so. The nearest places to fish from the shore are miles away at either the Dumbarton Pier or the Faber Marsh.
We rode out on our mountain bikes to see the remnants of the Drawbridge ghost town. With careful attention to the directions we found the track on the other side of the train tracks and made it to the signs. Its certainly not a spectacular sight along any horizon but the history lesson and nature lesson combined with the exercise made for a nice little adventure.
Beautiful place for a hike, and to take pictures. Sunset here is fantastic, but make sure you get in the gates well before sunset, as the volunteer gets a slight power trip if you are attempting to enter a little to close to sunset.Bring a jacket as its usually really windy.
Cool park, good place to see the wetlands and some wildlife (if youre patient and have a good eye). The salt flats are a strange alien place. Lots of people brought photographers here, so if youre looking to join the photographic vernacular of the South Bay, follow suit.
Alviso Marina County Park is a magical place. The day I was there it was raining off and on in the distance and became a rainbow factory. Every few minutes a new rainbow appeared. At one point two rainbows appeared. If my camera battery wasnt so low, mostly because of the cold, then I would have taken more rainbow pictures.
This park is truly a gem! Who knew there were salt flats and ponds in the Bay Area? Not me! If youre careful, you can navigate the salt flats. Its a beautiful experience. The park wasnt crowded early Sunday morning. Miles of gravel paths through the wetlands great for running, and many species of birds for the amateur ornithologist. A must see!
Parking is easy. Medium sized lot, and extra street parking. Lot is only half full at most and will easily accommodate an RV. Access is an easy drive. This is a hidden gem of a coastal trail. You are transported back to 1800s when you see the uncrowded landscape, and vintage historic Bayside Cannery and houses that cling to their past by this open marshland waterway. It evokes nostalgia for the past with sea gulls overhead and the smell of salt water. There is a small plaque by the trail head with some details. This place became part of western history in 1838. It was a bustling sea port for goods and trading, but by 1864, the railroads had picked up their business of shipping goods and floods devastated the area and the flourishing seaport reverted back to the gulls, herons and egrets that nest there. The trail begins and ends at the parking lot in one long 4.5 mile loop. I hiked it. There is some construction going on to build up the hiking trail, most likely to pave it for bicycles which will be a great improvement. Its an easy hike on flat ground all the way, but the terrain is a bit lumpy at times, fine for walking, but not baby strollers or road bikes. Dogs on leash are allowed on trail, but please do not let them off leash to disturb bird habitats and feeding. On either side of the trail there is a wide body of water. Salt crystals sparkle in the sunlight as they form a white lip on the waters edge resembling the crunch and shimmer of snow. This is a salt water marsh.Sea gulls call out, and you hear the lonesome arcing call of the curlew, and see snowy egrets and herons along the edges. The water is very still, the light bounces off creating glare in the hot sun but it is luminous in gentler light. Sunsets become paintings. There are some dead gulls along the trail, proof that this is a living ecosystem and that predatory hawks are finding prey in sea gulls. The hiking trail just goes on and on, and a 5 mile loop is possible taking you back to the same parking lot without crossing over the same path twice. You can go several different ways to extend the hike further. It would be best to map this out ahead of time because if you take the wrong loop you could end up very far from the parking lot. Although the space is wide open, you cannot see which way will take you back to the parking lot due to distance. If you go late evening, you must take a strong flashlight and not go off on a tangent. There is no grass here, there are toilets in the parking lot, and some benches for a picnic. This is wild scrub, marshy wetlands, and trails where you are fully exposed to harsh sunlight. There is a boat launch with special card access (you can buy it), There is a small Marina on one end. As you drive to the parking lot, you will see Laines Baits and Rentals which has been a fixture for years. There are a few eateries in the small cluster of homes there. Not much else in facilities, which makes this a very quaint and restful place to visit. An ideal place for a solitary walk, commune with nature, do yoga on one of the wooden decks, or launch a kayak. There is a guided nature boat tour available if you look up the Park details on their site. I think this is free. I saw photos of kayak tours.
I walked the big loop, apparently its about 9 miles. Be aware, there is NO shade anywhere on this loop. There are NO drinking fountains anywhere on this loop. There are very few benches on this loop. Its windy which is nice, but it can be very hot.Lots of birds to watch.
Amazing place. Ive had bug bites and sometimes at parts an odor. But far enough in the trail, Ive observed the cloudscape in such regular change,... it was a nice adventure place to walk out into the bay. The various salinity pools are quiet a value too. Nice flat trail that you dont get lost on but can go as far as you want.
Have been here many times, if you are interested in watching birds this is a great place to visit. This county park has nice paved trails that you could walk all over the park. However, there is no shades through out this park, so if you do not enjoy natural Sun lights, bring an UV proof hat or visor. It has restroom on site next to the parking lot, which is very convenient. Dogs are not allowed, so you dont have to worry about accidentally steps on the dog poop. :-)
The place has nice scenic views but there are too many mosquitoes and other insects. It has decent parking space. There is a nice view of train passing along the park which you will love if you are into trains. There are quite a lot of birds and if you are lucky enough you will be able see all of them flying together ,it is a beautiful view. The wooden model doors are perfect for photo ops. There is a decently long walkway along the bay that you can enjoy as well.
Gorgeous waterfront park with trails extending into the Bay. Trails are flat but not paved, not super stroller friendly.Trails are bike-friendly and there are plenty of cyclists. Thankfully the trails are wide enough for cyclists to pass.Bathrooms in the parking lot is clean and well stocked. There is also a boat launching area and we saw folks with speedboats, kayaks, and paddle boards in the Slough.Almost no shade so hats are recommended. Lots of birds and bugs to see
Beautiful flat hiking trails with lots of great birdwatching opportunities. Amazing to see the serenity of the water on one side, and the blaring horn of the Amtrak if you get to catch it on the other side. Unique hiking spot, great for biking too, since theres no elevation change.
They have a boat ramp with access to the bay, but it is locked up till 8:30 am. Most people use it for fishing boats and duck hunting which makes it worthless to them unless you want pay a high anual fee and then they will give you the combo. If you come back late you will be locked in and probably be in trouble
Great salt flat trails with cooling breeze even during the summer! There thankfully is little smell from the slough and you can see quite a bit of wildlife, while just walking around. Trails are really just for MTB so I wouldnt recommend bringing a road bike, but great otherwise for runs and strolls.
Its a beautiful area and view, but currently some of the trails are closed for construction. The parking lot is a good size, and the area seems good. Theres a nice large concrete step area thats good for sitting and picnics where you can look at the view. This area is primarily walking, boating, and fishing.

2022-02-22The spot is really quite cool, but it could do with some additional clarity around the walking paths that go around the ponds. While the park itself is very small it opens into probably 20 miles worth of trails, some of which have fallen into the ponds and some that are under construction. We walked about 4 miles when we realized the final mile of our loop was under repair and not accessible, which was a big bummer. Cool area tho and we got our steps in.

2022-04-12It’s very windy here and you will need jacket. It’s dog friendly but will need to have leash on the whole time. The trail is very long. Nice views of mountains on both sides. Parking is easy too. The place is smaller than I expected.

2022-05-05I have been to this trail two times, once on foot and once on my bike. The 9 mile out and back loop is pretty scenic and flat throughout. The trail itself is a bit patchy at places and some sections were still under construction. The part where the trail ends is actually quite smelly and the stench is very avoidable especially towards the end of the hike when you are breathing heavily. Other than that, it is not very crowded and parking hasnt been difficult. You can part streetside too right outside the park. Good trail overall.

2022-01-09One of my favorite parks for biking and walking. The parking lot is busy during the weekend when weather is good. There’s a restroom next to the parking lot.As of Jan 8, 2022, the road is blocked at some point (see the red arrow on my photo please) so you are unable to pass it. Planning ahead accordingly.

2022-03-15It is a decent place to go for an evening walk, watch the sunset or admire the landscapes. The houses around look really dilapidated but the scenery makes up for it. I recommend coming to this place, specially if you live close by.

2022-05-23Its so windy and bright which can cause you to have headaches. Please bring water and medications just in case. Also, bring ear plugs if you can because your ears will feel like its bring stab constantly. When we were on this hike, it was so beautiful until we found out our loop path was under construction. We were so close but yet so far. It hurts so bad to walk all the way back again lol. Go early to enjoy the walk and wear sunscreen.

2022-05-23I went on a run here today around 5 PM. Such a beautiful place! The wind was quite strong though, and I had to carry my hat because it was lifting off my head. It’s definitely a place better suited for a walk.
