The emergency staff and security guard is horrific !! It’s hard I know dealing with people all day but just flat out being rude isn’t the answer ! Your here to help people and to make them more comfortable in their time of need, we don’t need attitudes and a sense that you hate your job. If I could give this place no stars I would.
WORST PLACE EVER. My grandpa passed away last year in this hospital and due to “COVID restrictions” we were only allowed to speak to him through phone. The day he passed away he let the nurses know around 1 P.M about a chest pain and they did exams, but we were never given the results later on that day he passed away around mid night, but we weren’t even informed that he was really sick if we wanted to see him or anything!!!! they only called us to let us know he had just passed away.. when we got there the nurses DID NOT CARE NOR A DOCTOR SPOKE TO US TO TELL US WHAT HAPPENED. THEY ARE CARELESS AND PROFESSIONAL THEY LET MY GRANPE TO DIE.
Maria, the ER nurse that greets you and starts your registration, is amazing. Ive been waiting here, next to the ER entrance waiting to see a doctor, and I have heard Maria assist more than 30 patients already, giving each and every one of them the most positive, joyful, professional, service I have ever heard. I hope they are taking care of you here in Adventist Maria! God Bless. Thank you for what you do, especially, how your doing it. Its truly inspiring.
They cannot her on the same page about nutrition beings I was here for an infection from a picc line my nutrition part of my stay so of all importance and the gave me the wrong diet every meal I brought it to their attention every time since I wasn’t being allowed to go home until I could consume so much af an all liquid diet and they continue to bring me whole chicken and pasta day after day affecting me from being released
I had a mild heart attack & pneumonia. I was admitted. The nurses were wonderful. One nurse in particular Ruth Gisborn went up & beyond the call of duty. She was so nice & friendly. She even French braided my hair. The other staff members & the Doctors were top notch. The Doctors fixed me up & 2 1/2 days later I am home.
This place is amazing. From the moment of check in and and check out i had a great experience. All the nurses that took care of me were amazingly nice. Tess, Edith and Lovely. There were a few more who interacted with me but was not able to catch there name. Even the people who brought my meals were super friendly. My surgery was difficult and everyone was so compassionate. I love there is messages of God everywhere. So uplifting. I would give them 10 stars if possible. Definitely recommend this Hospital.
Amazing staff, dated facility. My mother has been here for over a week and we have had the most amazing nurses, great house keeping staff and helpful food services. The rust on the air vent and shower drain is a bit concerning, but it does appear that the shower fixtures are new.
This is one of the worst hospitals I have ever seen, and Shah, MD, Aashini is the worst Physician that I have ever seen practice medicine. In my opinion he should have his Medical License revoked for life and the reason for this review is because a client of mine was in the hospital and this so called Doctor discharged him with fluid on his lungs, and now he is in Saint Angnes hospital receiving better treatment.
Terrible! Took my mom in complaining of palpitations, shortness of breath, and indigestion. First of all staff was very rude, and the nurse took her vitals and feeling like she couldn’t breathe was told the air in her body was good by a nurse… I explained that my mom didn’t speak English but they couldn’t bother to get a translator since I couldn’t go in because of COVID precautions. Then they had her go inside… two hours later I called her to see how she was doing and she was in the exact same spot and she said a nurse told her to sit there and never came back. This is ridiculous people could be dying and they will just leave you there.
I went to the ER and the staff is very friendly and professional. Wait times are long but theyre the best hospital in the area. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Had to stay here for a couple days and they definitely earned a 5 star rating. Keep up the good work 👏
My husband had surgery here last Friday.Meds were brought so few and far between he didnt get out of pain the entire two days he stayed.Staff did not ensure his bowels were moving b4 release. Every post surgery patient on the floor was also In extremely audible pain. The ice packs he was supposed to be getting regularly to reduce swelling were basically non existent.refused to give him his last med b4 discharge knowing he had an hour and half drive home up the canyon. Refused to give us physical copies of his post op prescriptions and the pharmacy we were told they faxed them to didnt have them and the pharmacy that did wasnt open on Sundays. So he has spent his entire first night home after surgery zero meds.thanks!!!TREATED LIKE TRASH!!!!!!!!
This is by far the worst hospital ever. They have no organization, nor do the staff feel the urgency of your visit. My husband had covid back in January and went there because he couldnt breathe. He found out he had pneumonia in his left lung. Upon discharge, they didnt explain anything to him... they just gave him paperwork and told him he was finished. He had to find his way out of the hospital with an oxygen level in the low 80s. THE ABSOLUTE WORST HOSPITAL IVE EVER VISITED! If my insurance wasnt connected to them, I would NEVER go there
This Emergency Room is ran more like a Frat House than an ER. Its disgusting. Nurses running around cussing, listening to music on their devices, paying more attention to eachother than the patients. Completely ignoring the needs of those that are in there and the loved ones that arent allowed to go in because of Covid protocol. Creating their own obviously unsupervised atmosphere and loving it. Absolutely no class or empathy. People are treated like a number or even more so discarded trash. Covid has made it easy for you to not be held accountable when the only witnesses are those too sick to perform.
My husband was taken into the hospital with congestive heart failure. the social worker, nurses, and doctors all called me kept me up to date on everything and Bill really said they were so nice to him in there. I appreciate the hospital and the staff even though its very hard not being with your loved ones when theyre sick .I felt like they were keeping me up to date and telling me everything that was happening to my honey. Im impressed.
After spending over 3 hours with my sister having severe muscle spasm and pain 10 out of 10, still here . Several people given treatment and discharged. My sister has had NOTHING yet for her pain!! I am so Mad, this place is ran HORRIBLE . The chair she is in is torture, the people here have zero compassion. The date 1/9/2019 the time is 1546
The staff were very friendly. Even tho my procedure ran a bit later than originally scheduled I was processed and made comfortable while I waited. After the surgery I was completely awake a briefly spoke to the doctor, who in turned comfrenced with my husband to inform him of the outcome. I was given aftercare instructions and released. An over all efficient experience.
Do not send an elderly family member who can not understand things well to this hospital. They are understandably quite busy with Covid cases and the like, so they are just trying to get people out of the hospital. Because of the current no visitor policy, family members who would normally be the patient advocate to make sure all the boxes were checked, are not there to do so. As a result, these boxes ARE NOT being checked. Your non cognitive elderly family member will be discharged to the parking lot via a valet who knows nothing about the medical status of the patient. If you ask for someone who does know to accompany the patient to the parking lot to go over discharge instructions, they will not. The most they will do is have a nurse call you. That nurse may or may not know what’s actually going on, depending when they came on shift and when your family member was discharged. Our family member was discharged with very vague discharge instructions, a missing prescription for the one and only medication prescribed, and a wound (the primary reason for the emergency visit and later admittance to the hospital) left completely unbandaged. Just to give another example of hospital staff communication break down, we also witnessed a nurse come out to the parking lot to pull a missed catheter out of a woman’s arm who had just been discharged. She was just getting into her vehicle when her husband noticed it. The typical communication failures that plague most hospitals are on 10 during these times. The result, especially at this hospital, is that elderly folks who may have trouble understanding what’s going on are falling through the cracks and getting subpar care even with the family on the phone 2-3 times a day with hospital staff. They ultimately just want them out the door.
All of the staff were really nice, and helped me out! I even forgot my id and insurance and it was no issue for them to find it for me and get me into surgery! I had to wait around 4 hours although it was just a minor surgery and several other people around me were having major surgeries so I really didn’t mind and just napped. The recovery room people were very helpful and got me out quickly as I hadn’t eat in nearly 15 hours and was starving so they were extremely helpful!! Would definitely recommend.
I had a total hip replacement and was in the hospital 3 days. I had the best care ever. The nurses were amazing. They always had a smile on their face and wanted to make sure I was comfortable. If I made a mess accidentally and started to clean they would stop me and tell me that s why they were there for. All the staff during the day or night tended to my needs. They all were awesome. I recommend this hospital to everyone. Thank you Adventist Health Hospital
The worst place ever!! Took my husband here to the ER to be seen due to severe swelling all over his body, doctor never even bothered to look at his feet or stomach & was discharged. He was told to follow up with his GI specialist and was given patient education. They didn’t even bother to evaluate him properly. Last time I even consider this hospital!!Wish I could’ve put no stars at all!Update: So after leaving this awful place and going somewhere else, where they actually helped my husband, we found out my husband had a very serious condition and had to be admitted to the hospital. Goes to show what quality of care this place provides!!
Well, Adventist Emergency Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. gave my wife everything weve come to expect from the medical community in the last several years. That being pretty much zero help. My wife has been suffering from debilitating back and spine pain and 2 hip replacements. She temporarily lost use of her legs. She called Kaiser and they told her to get to ER right away. We called an Ambulance (they need to get into another business) who forced her to walk. No Adventists fault. I was not allowed in. We are all so busy worrying about Covid that other conditions dont count and patients suffer. They keep her an hour. I call to check and I find out shes being released. I get there 10 minutes later a see her out in front in a wheel chair with no one monitoring her. No diagnosis and a pamphlet on Scoliosis. No kidding! We have been going to doctors for 3 years and no one will treat her. Heres a thought, a patient in severe pain, scared, and in depression might not articulate their condition well. If you let the spouse come in and explain you might understand whats going on. But no, everyone will be dead from Covid tomorrow if you do that. Well I guess you did your duty and i will get my bill soon. Im sure utmost care and efficiency will be employed to get that taken care of quickly. Is there anyone in the medical profession that actually cares about helping sick people anymore? Or is all about efficiency and what you can bill now? Im sure you did everything required. Too bad that no longer includes helping the sick people that come to you. Sorry, just disappointed again.
I do not recommend this hospital. Do not go here if you had a stroke they do nothing for you. Also a nurse gave my mom insulin without checking her blood sugar and laughed with another nurse about it.....I had a few lovely nurses who helped with my mom and were kind. Thank you so much Vanessa, Hanna and Aaron.
I had a urinary procedure done on November 2, 2020. Everything went very well. Hospital was very clean. All representatives and nurses were excellent. No complaints except my doctor didn’t come to tell me what happened after the procedure. Other than that everything went perfectly!
Last August I was taken by ambulance to this place after suffering a cardiac event. They took a vial of blood and then I sat in a bed for hours with no communication the whole time . Next door were loud doctors and nurses talking rudely about how they hated various people and it was very unprofessional. At about 2:30 am the very rude “ security guard” at the front informed me there were no hotels or car service available and I was left on my own to walk through the streets by myself being surrounded by homeless people and being propositioned by men. Then I received phone calls and bills for services that I don’t even know what they did for me. How this place is the “ best in the county” baffles me. I would go somewhere else.
Labor and delivery- It is a very good hospital. They took care of my and my daughter exceptionally. My husband could stay with me the whole time and they provided us everything what we needed. Thank you for being so nice and helping me give birth. It is an awesome memory.
The emergency room nurses are horrible and very rude. I was in alot pain never got anything for it and when I did ask for pain relief they said you have to talk to your nurse. Well didnt know i had a nurse . Til I got discharged. I noticed alot of ppl being disrespected by the nurses
Merry Christmas to all at San Joaquin hospital. From the greeter, to the nurses and doctors, all were super friendly and professional. Even at 5am in the morning!!! My heart felt appreciation. To all patients in the hospital on Christmas Day, I pray for you to go home soon and join your families. As for now, you’re in good hands.
I went in for Covid and was having respiratory issues. I was immediately treated for pneumonia. The nurses and support staff were wonderful. I have a whole new respect for them risking their lives to take care of those that are sick without hesitation. From the janitor to the person pushing the wheelchair to the nurses and doctors. Thank you.
It was difficult going into this surgery having no one with me. However, staff in the hospital were so kind, friendly and smiling that I hardly noticed I was all alone. Thank you for adding ‘comfort like a family member’ to the list of the incredible work you do every day!!
Veronica, the operator, was extremely rude about my inquiry regarding my sibling on whether she was admitted to this hospital. Working in the Healthcare industry one needs to show empathy, especially when it comes to trying to locate a family member. She was somewhat like a person who is on the other end of a telemarketing call. This was very unprofessional and disheartening. Ive called over 5 hospitals in the area and this was the only hospital operator who showed ZERO empathy.
I had a great experience in Preop. And with entire surgical staff! Postoperative was good too. The only thing I just dont understand is why you come out of a surgery and they are so judgmental about you when youre already taking a pain regiment at home so they think you dont need as much pain medication after your very painful surgery! One, you dont take any pain medication, for 8 to 10 hrs prior to your surgery!! Secondly it is usually a 1 or 2 doses!! Your body will Not heal under the stress of pain! Also, during the checking in process, I was asked if I had anything valuable that I wanted to put in the safe? But then was told that I, after surgery and under anesthesia, would have to remember to stop back by the office and get my valuables!! How in the world can you remember when youre in a lot pain from surgery? Youre under the effects of Anesthesia, pain medication also?!! So your stuff you bring in to surgery is not safe in the operating room? Thats not a good portrayal of your staff!!!
I arrived to this hospital on 7/12/20 due to me worried about a possible miscarriage. They admitted me into the ER around 7:00 P.M. I was literally there for 8 HOURS. I cannot believe they had me sitting there waiting anxious about my baby & cold. Let me tell you guys that’s not the worst part, the Doctor was absolutely rude. I have seen this doctor before and she was previously rude to me and my cousin on my cousin’s last visit. I really with they would change that, this was my favorite hospital.
My admission for hernia surgery was efficient, timely and friendly and the pre-Op was also efficient and friendly. All staff were professional, understanding and caring. Transfer to OR and surgery went very smoothly and recovery was also very efficient and friendly. The hospital appears state of the art from admissions through recovery and the OR was high tech and used assisted robots for the actual surgery. I highly recommend Adventist Health.
The nursing staff were most EXCELLENT, responsive and friendly, knowledgeable. The Financial end is where this place FAILS miserably.Spent a week in August of 2020, was never informed that Kaiser had bailed on the bill and I owed Adventist Health 6 grand. Was sent straight to collections with NO notice at all, and I find this out in May 2021.THANKS ALOT for nothing.
Adventist doctors, nurses, and support staff were very efficient, professional, caring, and encouraging. They did a great job correcting my medical issues. Their instructions and exercises for me will greatly improve my health. Thank you, and may God continue to bless your hospital with continued excellent care.
From check in to being discharged they were very caring! Maria who stood out in the ER is an amazing hard worker I seen her running around trying her best to help everyone with a positive attitude. everyone I encountered was great at what they do. Thanks! Good job guys!
I came by ambulance to this hospital where l was treated like the only patient they had that day! I was kept informed frequently, constantly double checking my needs, providing me with amazing care & concern. I have always been treated well at this hospital. They have raised the bar higher than ever & l was amazed at their attention to their patients even in this time of horrible Covid 19 scare! May l say your staff has exceeded all expectations for service & care of anytime l have needed their services. Please, if possible, let them know that their efforts were recognized & shared,!
Though my surgery was delayed for hours, the nurses and physicians were so pleasant, transparent, helpful, and communicated details regarding next steps and reasons for delays. I appreciated the process, the calmness of their personalities, and their willingness to be there for all the patients waiting for surgery and after surgery.
I was out of town and came to the ER from which I was admitted for 24 hours for observation.I could not have asked for a better experience. But it wasn’t just me. Every walk of life was in the ER and all of them were receiving amazing treatment.I had also taken my sister there in February and witnessed the same impressive service.I heartily endorse Adventist hospital in Bakersfield.
Had out patient surgery there to have pins put into my toes, and ended up having to spend the night. Exceptional care was given by all nurses and Medical staff. Made my stay very welcoming. If I could have given more then 5 stars I would have, this was my first time staying there and it was like staying at home while I recovered for a day and a half.
Staff extremely helpful and kind. Nurse Alan on the 5th floor post surgery (I had a knee replacement) was especially patient and helpful as I had to use the restroom repeatedly throughout the night! The physical and occupational staff were also great-not just showing but having me practice.
OUTSTANDING staff !!! From check in, to preop, OR, and recovery, our experience was very smooth. Everyone explained everything very well, my wife (the patient) and I are both nurses and we were very much impressed with the team work involved. From Dr Hoang, to the anesthesiologist, and all the nurses were just wonderful to be around. Great job and great team.
Adventist Hospital Bakersfield was a good experience at a stressful, difficult time. However. I was well treated and very competently cared for. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was amazing! Nurses Julie and Jessica on the 14th floor were absolutely great. They were helpful, professional and kind. Also Amelia on 14th floor was kind and helpful. If I was ever hospitalized again, I would go there (hope I never need to!) Both Dr. Chen a d Dr. Rubiaco were wonderful and easy to talk to. Very pleasant and professional. All in all a positive stay.
Went to the ER last night and they triaged me so it went pretty quick. Gloria the PA-C on staff was so thorough and although it was packed she really seemed like she wasn’t just corralling people out of there, she was taking all the steps to figure out what was going on. She was great & you can tell she really knows what she’s talking about. And all the nurses were kind which makes a huge difference when you’re in a lot of pain.
I’m absolutely impressed about Adventist health !!I came with my son to the ER and since I walk in They were so polite and taking care of my son I only remember one of Er nurses name Stephanie she was outstanding with my son .He need it a Appendix Emergency surgery. everyone who was involved in my son’s health treatment Thank you so much and thank you to the ones who provide warm meal to us !!!
I had 3 hernias repaired during my recent visit. I was treated like a guest at a nice hotel by a friendly and informative staff. Everyone was was sincerely polite and cared about me like I was family. I Would highly recommend anyone to Adventist Health and can assure them they will be in the best of hands. I hope if you need hospital care you take yourselves to AHB. Thank you to Dr. Garcia and all the wonderful nurses who worked with me.
I had a minor outpatient surgery and was in and out the same day. I liked the pre-check-in to ensure all the paperwork and tests were done. The day of surgery I was impressed with the staff, their attentiveness and quality of care. Every request was promptly taken care of even though they had a full house. I didnt feel rushed to leave before I felt comfortable. My husband was able to come and go as he needed without any problem. He enjoyed his breakfast in the cafeteria. I am a Kaiser patient and the coordination between the two entities was seamless.
Monica Fitzgerald and some other admin staff are unprofessional and they breach boundaries. They have no idea how to behave towards a cancer patient and when you complain they take revenge so I will do the complaining outside the hospital. The head of the radiation department has an excellent demeanor and he is a great doctor. However there are many options use them! It is your life not theirs
I want to give a shout out to Sarah (nocshift) on the Medsurgical/Tele 4S floor for going above and beyond on taking care of my grandmother. Sarah is genuinely kind and attentive. She made us feel at ease while my grandmother was going through comfort care. I acknowledge her for Daisy Award! Thank you Sarah, You may feel like your hard work goes unnoticed, but Trust, your work ethics shows highly of you, thank you for everything you did for our grandmother and family! To all other healthcare providers/workers who overseen my grandmother’s care, thank you for your service.
I got very sick very fast with a lot of infection and massive swelling on my face and neck, the staff was so attentive and caring and made sure they came in often to make sure my IV antibiotics were still going and that my pain level was kept low. They treated me like a friend and they seemed to genuinely care for each patient. My nurse for the first day wasn’t my nurse the second day but she made sure to come in and see how me and my neighbor in the room were doing and if she could get us anything, now that’s a great staff! I highly recommend coming to this hospital for all your needs
I had a brilliant surgeon Dr. Grimes, Best 5 star care from the moment I stepped into front door, I was greeted at desk, given a personal walk by very professional and warm employee who took us up to floor for my surgery. My care was A-1 my RN explained everything made me feel so relaxed, I was very relaxed and informed before knee surgery and after. I would definitely recommend this facility and Doctor!👍👍😊
I have never been to an emergency room before. When kaiser referred me I was skeptical but knew I had to go.I told my husband what a great experience. From triage all the way through the process. I felt so much genuine concern and compassion.I thank you for making it easy on me.
My experience was a very positive one. All of the staff was very professional. The nursing staff made sure all of my needs were met and everything was done in a timely manner . Dr Suszter is my doctor and does an amazing job always ! I would definitely recommend going to Adventist Health for any medical needs .
The staff is very friendly and the Doctors are very Knowledgeable. When I recently had a procedure done the nurses were very comforting and knew how to keep someone calm and relaxed before and afterwards. This would have been my Third time being seen here and I dont like going anywhere else. Just wish it was closer to my side of town.
Was the most uncomfortable and uninviting atmosphere to deliver my baby. Both my beds were broken and half the staff do not like to do their job in a polite manner. Im only giving this place a 3 star because of one nurse who assisted in the delivery of my baby was outstanding.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the Hospital and its entire staff. Im extremely great full for all the care hard work and dedication that each staff member provided me from the time of surgery to the time of discharge. They treat you like family. They are awesome. Thank you so much.
I just had a full hysterectomy on 6/27 and all of the staff from nurses to nutrition were so helpful and attentive ! Housekeeping could improve just a bit, but other than that there were no problems . I really do appreciate all who assisted in my recovery! It made the 2 night stay tolerable! Thank you all so very much!
Went in for in and out surgery. From the time I walked in, every single person I dealt with was so friendly and helpful! I have to say the volunteer lady who greeting all of the patients as they waited for surgery, was sweet and a very thoughtful touch! The head nurse who helped me was amazing. She had me laughing the entire time which really made a scarey situation so much easier to handle. Even the assistant who wheeled me to my car was so patient and nice! I was really impressed!!!
The care I received once I was admitted to the hospital was the best. Kind, caring nurses and staff. Room was nice and food was good. The initial period in the ER was terrible. The ER is disorganized, chaotic, and unsanitary. Had to wait an extra two hours there because one of the nurses forgot to tell my Care Giver that I was done with a test. She didnt even say she was sorry. Just an ooops.
My dad had to have out patient surgery yesterday to rod his broken arm. Check in was great, his pre op nurse Bong was amazing and his surgeon Dr. Michael Suszter and his partner did an exceptional job. Dad was up on his own this morning with his walker, pain down from 10 to 2...thank you to the hospital staff for a wonderful experience during such a rough time.!!!😊
I truly cant express the excellent love and care that the AIS staff gave to me during my procedure. I felt confident that I was in good hands. I wish that every doctors office and medical building had staff like this. My appreciation to all of you that took care of me. God Bless you.
Went to the ER 12/7/19 in the morning. I noticed that they were very organized. Provided me with a checklist card stating approximate times for each procedure. Staff were very professional. The whole process took 3 hours. Very impressed since I was just a walk in patient. Thank you for your staffs great service.
My healthcare provider directed me to AHB after assessing my stomach pain. I was quickly triaged, labs completed, and seen by a Doctor. I was diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis, was admitted, and surgery completed. I walked in the door at 8am and my wife picked me up at 4pm! Everyone was great! Highly efficient, courteous, and professional. Admitted during the COVID crisis i was skeptical on service, but was completely wrong.
We were greeted promptly and in a friendly fashion as we walked through the front door. We were quickly told to go to window #4. We were checked in efficiently if not somewhat brusquely. We sat in the waiting room for an hour and one-half waiting for transport. It was a total of three hours at the hospital before I went into the operating room. The nurses were attentive nad kind in the pre op and post op time.
When asked if I would recommend Adventist Health, my answer is YES. During my two stays there...in April after heart attack..and just recently a few days ago for pacemaker implant surgery i was treated so well by everyone I had contact with...from Admissions to nurses in pre-op and prep..to nurses who cared for me afterward...each time..was a very pleasant and a great experience. I felt well cared for. My doctor, Dr Puga, I am very pleased with and the outcome of my surgery. Dr. Gil who checked on me too was very pleasant and explained my concerns. All staff at your hospital are to be commended for their caring and friendly service. Also kudos to the volunteers who visit patients and provide a listening ear and tend to some things the nurses are so busy with other patients to do when needed by the patient. Both who visited me, first during my stay in ER after heart attack and this recent surgery, were very pleasant and friendly and reassuring. My one complaint would be the bed...the controls were on the outside and impossible to get to to adjust the bed. However, both visits I had a very nice room so the environment was very pleasing. The nurses are all to be commended for their professional dedication and caring for their patients. Theirs is not an easy profession God bless them!
It is very hard to have to sit outside the hospital when a loved one is being taken care of however, Adventist has now put in porta-potty so one doesnt have to drive from the hospital so that made it somewhat better. Additionally, the nurses were very good about taking phone calls and answering my questions.
I came into the ER at 5pm for critical low potassium. I had my vitals done and waited and waited for about 45min. I then saw a PA for about 3min. Who ordered some blood and ekg, then I waited and waited again for about 1 1/2 hrs. I was then called back again for additional blood work and waited again about an hr. I was then called back to sit on a chair that was in a long line of chairs which clearly doesnt promote the 6ft. rule and waited some more about an hour. The PA came over to me in front of all of the other patients to tell me my results amd what she was going to do . The PA then ordered a heart monitor which was place in front of everyone againI was not discharged until 1amI think that is ridiculous. I could have been out of there in a matter of a few hours. I feel if they take care of the patients that are pretty straight forward it would go more smoothly
I was scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy Friday, 8/9/19. I was not asked to have blood work done prior to the procedure. Consequently this delayed my procedures since it was done including an EKG that morning at the hospital. My appointment was at 10:00 am, no food that morning, and I was not released until approximately 2:00 PM. I think there could have been better communications. All the medical staff I had contact with were very professional and accommodating. They made me very comfortable it was just the wait that was disturbing.
One night I was feeling ill so I went to the Adventist Bakersfield hospital Emergency room. Some provider named Marie Carmen Ramos, NP, was cruel to me. I was feeling sick and she showed me no concern about the way I was feeling. She was very mean and rude. She said I had cancer when I have never had it. How can someone say something like that without even being tested. That is really mean to say to someone. She is a horrible person. I would recommend to someone who needs the Emergency room DO NOT go to this hospital, it is better to go to the Memorial or Mercy hospital. At least these two hospitals treat patients with kindness and respect.
Went to ER Tuesday morning, diagnosed in short time with appendicitis. Admission was swift and efficient, thanks to RN Ashely Bledsoe. Ashely set me at ease from the start. Got me in for labs and CT swiftly. After, Debra kept me informed, got DRS orders, and provided much needed meds. Dr Yim, Surgeon, came a few hours later to perform the appendectomy. Throughly explained the surgery process, met me in pre-op. Soon, I was in recovery and learned everything went very well. I went to ER at 4am. I was relaxing in my chair at 4pm. Quite a day, all in all... Win Win!!PS. Staff, Security were all on their game. It was apparent COVID was present, but besides being told my ride had to wait outside, I wasn’t affected by it. Thanks Loretta♥️
I ad a procedure performed in the Cath Lab and from the Staff to Providers everyone kept me in the loop about the process and were very accommodating. During the post-op recovery phase, the Nursing staff was very pleasant and checked on me frequently. My procedure did require a 23-hour observation so I was moved to a room from the Cath Lab with no incidents and rather comfortably. Once I was in the room there was some communication breakdown as my meals were usually two hours behind or they forgot, the Rendering Provider did not follow-up with me, so I had to wait for a Hospital PCP. The discharge process was a bit slow, but then again I’m an active person and dislike being still for more than an hour. Overall I had a very good experience and would recommend this Hospital.
My care from all of the team that took care of me was good. But I was asked twice to do a EKG and I had to tell the tech I wasnt going to disrobe in front of people lined up next to me + down the Hall. Also the privacy care act about asking your DOB First & last name loudly with know regard to privacy ! It was so busy with inmates by me so if there is a next rtime I would hope they respect the Privacy Law theyre suppose to abide by!
I recently had a minor surgical procedure at Adventist Health Bakersfield. Im happy to report that all went well. The team of doctors, nurses and medical assistants were absolutely wonderful. I was well taken care of and was kept informed of what was happening around me. The entire staff was professional and caring. I felt that I was in excellent hands.
All the staff was very courteous and helpful. KP has come a long way since they first started in this area some 30 years ago. The nurses and doctors were all way above average in their competencyand willingness to be of assistance. They made my stay go smoothly. My hats off to an excellent team of medical professionals.
Emergency room is very busy and most of the patients are from prison Not a good experience. But after a long wait in the emergency Hospital hallways waiting for a room to be available. When we get to the room the nurses are “AMAZING “ 👍. My husband and I are going through a difficult health crisis we been in Adventist Hospital four times and every time we there nurses and Doctors are always professional and . “ THANK YOU “. to everyone in this wonderful team . “GOD BLESS. EVERY ONE “. Keep the nice work 🤒
The office staff is caring and professional - a great combination 💓EVERYONE in Doctor Gs office works toward the goal of a good outcome - and that includes Dr. G herself. This is a very busy practice - sometimes the phone wait times are pretty long. ** I prefer to wait on hold and when my turn comes - they are very nice and helpful / to me it is well worth the wait. For those who dont have the patience or time to wait on the hold - leave a message and they WILL call you back . This office deserves 5 stars. Dr. Ghafarizadeh is wonderful.
My Kaiser physician, Dr. Yim, was excellent. She explained all aspects of my illness and treated me more like a partner in my care. Each and every RN and nursing assistant provided the best care I could have asked for and demonstrated solid clinical knowledge and compassionate bedside manner. Thanks to all. I would have given 5 stars, but the discharge planning coordination between Adventist and Kaiser has significant opportunities for improvement.
I had to have emergency surgery and ended-up spending 6 days in the hospital. My journey began with the emergency staff who were so kind as they worked to find out what was wrong with me, followed by the 2 staff members who did my CT Scan who went out of their way to find me a chair and then a bed when my sea legs went South. Both showed me such care and concern. Upon admittance, I then was under the care of Dr. Abraham Nisim who explained I had to have emergency colon surgery. He was so professional and knowledgeable that in talking with him I was immediately put to ease. I also found the operating staff professional and answered answered all of my questions. My stay was made so much better by the nursing staff (Roxie, Jessica, Amanda, Cassandra - if I forget someone I am sorry) to the PT wonder, Giselle who showed me how to move to help my incision - she gave me a fast incision boot-camp :-) The CNA, Ali and others were so kind and professional. Everyone from the dietary crew to housekeeping to transport (transport - I loved our talk upon discharge) all who made a stressful to the 10th power situation so much better - thank-you. Also thank-you to lifting crew...Tracy LovelaceBakersfield, Ca
Great care was given to my husband. The nurses were very busy but always took time to answer our questions. One of them always kept me informed about what was going on. I hope to never have to stay in a hospital but if I did have to Adventist Health would be my choice.
Nurses on med/surgery floor were great. Some of the nurses aids were good, some were lazy. Some of the aids acted like you asked them to paint your house when it was just asking for a little help.Emergency room staff were cranky, nasty and didnt smile. My doctor did take care of me and quickly which was necessary in my situation. Im giving 4 stars because of the excellent care I received upstairs. ESPECIALLY nurses Sarah and Jessica on med/surg 4th floor.
I was sent to the ER by my Primary Care Physician by ambulance. I was treated with exceptionally quick and caring manner. I am a very satisfied recent patient. Everyone concerned treated me as if I were a very. Important patient. They made me feel that they were sincerely concerned with meeting my individual needs.
Everyone at Adventist Health Bakersfield are so happy, kind, and quite funny. Nurses spoke softly and calm. Porters were so nice as well. No signs of urgency, panic, or chaos. Everything was so smooth like butter. It was great to watch and experience a well-organized hospital.
Dr.Moon & Dr. Hodges and there staff are always friendly and helpful. Both doctors take there time to listen to there patients. The staff always make sure what hours and days they have open for appointments to accommodate there patients. Im very happy that my family and I come here. Most definitely recommend this particular doctors office.
My husband had took me on 1/14 because i was really sick. When i got there they were not that busy and I was seen really fast by the triage nurse. Within minutes I was taken to the other side of the hospital and I was tested for the flu and ended up having it. The doctor that treated me was Dr Dixon and she was very though on everything that she was gonna do for me and the medication that she was prescribing and I was even given a breathing treatment as well. I would definitely recommend this hospital to everyone out there because there very though and make sure that your taken care of!
Labor & Delivery Nursing Staff is A-MAZING at this hospital. Not too many beds where you are considered just another patient coming and going. The nurses empowered me to make my own decisions letting me know they were there to assist, if their expertise was needed to make any important medical decisions... which I did end up needing advice and assistance.Andréa was the BEST Nurse and cheerleader (besides my Hubby). I cant even describe how helpful and informative and just downright good at her job she is! And Kimber was so welcoming when i was admitted informing me of all the many questions i had throughout my stay. All the nurses that came in when the big moment arrived... were there encouraging me along. I would recommend Adventist Health to anyone getting ready to have a baby in the Bakersfield area.
My appointment was at 7 AM I wasn’t seen by the doctor until 1015 then I was the first one to sign in and they took the person that signed up after me first l was not happy as my driver had to be back before 1 pm for her job and she was late. And I told them my driver had to work
My friends/co-workers at AHB & our sister the AIS Breast Center took excellent, genuinely loving care of me with last weeks surgery. Dr. Hoehne & her staff at the breast center were amazing over the past 9 weeks since I discovered a lump. Their diligent, thorough assessment, & follow-up resulted in finding that the lump I discovered was nothing of consequence; but in the screening of that abnormality 2 other, unrelated areas of abnormal cells were found, biopsied in radiology, & surgically removed before they could become cancer. The radiology staff, Jacqui at the breast center, the PAT, Pre-Op, Surgery, Anesthesia & Recovery staff cared for me like family. I am grateful to work with & to have been cared for by such wonderful people. Ive had people comment that they wouldnt want to have surgery at the surgical services unit were they work. I feel just the opposite. It is comforting to be cared for by people you know do the right thing for the patient while respecting their privacy.
U could die in the waiting room and u still wouldn’t get helped. This is the worst hospital to come to if you’re not feeling well, I’ve been here for 5 hours, and I see everyone else who came after me getting helped before me. Nothing has been done about my pain, and I have no idea what I’m waiting for.
I liked this hospital until I had to deliver there. I was in labor and in a lot of pain. The nurses would come in chatting and making jokes with each other about random things while I was sitting there in pain wanting quiet. Another point in the night while I was there a janitor was restocking my room while I was moaning in pain and I asked her to leave and guess what she kept doing? Coming in and out of my room restocking. It is not time to restock a room with towels and to change a trash can that is not full while a lady is getting ready to push out a baby. At another point, I got a medication for pain and asked if it will make me feel weird and all the nurse said, was maybe and walked out. It made me very uncomfortable. After not being able to deliver naturally I had to have a c-section and, again, the nurses prepping me and the room werent acting professional and were talking about their day and other things. I feel like they should have been acting like they were at work, not like they were out to a dinner date with girlfriends. When was in recovery a care partner (I think thats what theyre called) was extremely rude to me. To sum it up she made comments like my partner was a dead beat dad (when this was the first time she had even seen us) and she also didnt listen to anything I had to say. I was in a lot of pain and I expressed that to her and her response was to not be so negative and so many more things from this lady. I will never recommend this hospital to give birth at.
I have been a patient for Adventist Health a few times know. I always felt like I was taken good care, the staff has always been Professional, courteous and helpful at all times . My confidence in the Doctors and PA sfelt good , God bless and keep up the good work helping people of Bakersfield. We all need when leaving a Hospital is to feel better, happier and blessed.. Thank you
On Friday, July 24, 2020 I went to the Emergency Room at the Adventist hospital. I was seen by a provider named Marie Carmen Ramos, RN. This so called provider treated me very rude and uncaring. She spoke to me in a very rude tone of voice and could care less about my health. She was also rushing me. She said that I had pneumonia and covid. First of all, I went the following day to an urgent care and got tested. This rude and ugly provider falsely gave me the wrong diagnosis. I DO NOT have pneumonia nor covid. The doctor at the urgent care ordered me a chest Xray and my lungs thanks to God are normal. How can she diagnose someone just by seeing them. I would NOT recommend this hospital to NO ONE especially the Emergency Room. i believe this awful woman, Marie Campos, RN, has a very ugly spirit. People like her make this Christian hospital look bad. She was very unprofessional too and simply plain UGLY!
Everyone was so professional without being stuffy...very friendly, helpful staff. I always knew what was being done, given names of scripts used and procedures explained. They answered my questions without being so techical that I couldnt understand...I was kept informed of my scheduled surgery time. Every person assigned to me came in and introduced themselves and explained what part of the crew they were and how they would be helping with my surgery. The place was immaculate! Good job!!! Thank you all!
Came in as an ER patient, left the hospital a week late. I have to say I was totally impressed with the care I received from the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff from ER to ICU. All the while I felt confident I was in safe and caring hands. I had suffered a major GI bleed and once admitted the AHB team knew how to immediately respond! I will be forever grateful!
I came in by ambulance with very high blood pressure around 1:30 am. So many people! But I was checked on as soon as I arrived. Put into a room within 15 mins. Everyone was so kind & even with all the patients everywhere no one seemed hurried or impatient. By 4:00 am I was on my way home. Overall good experience & I would definitely recommend this ER to anyone requiring Emergency Care.
My 8 year old fell while on a field trip and broke her wrist so I to her to the SJCH ER and that was the worst six hours of our lives. First off we were treated like we didnt belong there. The staff were the rudest people I have ever met. so after a 3 hr wait we are taking in to a cubical where we stay for about a hour just to have a nurse come in and do my daughters vitals. all the while she is crying in pain. No kind of sympathy was show to her. the we were sent back to the waiting room and called to the desk so that I could pay my bill (still have not see the doctor yet) so after a while we are called back to the same cubical where the doctor took a look at her wrist and said its not broken but we will take X-rays just in case. so after X-rays we waited for ever and then FINALLY the Doctor come out and says yes she does have a broken wrist and walked right out of the room not letting us know what was to be done next. my daughter did get her soft cast on and then we literately fast walked straight out of there. WORST PLACE EVER!!! IF AT ALL POSSIBLE STAY AWAY!
All the care I received was top notch from my entrance and intake into the hospital through my exit where I was wheeled to the door of my car. I will definitely use this hospital again. Nursing staff was excellent and clearly explained what to expect and answered all of our questions thoroughly.
I received wonderful care from the moment I entered to the time I left. I was seen in the Mammogram Dept. the Radiologist and Mammo tech did a fantastic job and were both very caring and professional. I had surgery and my Dr. Hoehne anesthesiologist, nurses and surgery tech did an amazing job. My Pre-op nurse Karen was great!!! The recovery staff and the transportation staff were also very caring and I had a tremendous stay. Things could not have gone smoother. I felt very well cared for. Thank you all for the tremendous work you do for our community.
I had a great experience having surgery at this hospital. It did take more time that should be to get my pain meds during the night. The nurse was slow and unatintive. The rest of the staff was professional and caring to my needs. I would recommend this hospital and would have surgeries again there.
I was treated with top courtesy and respect I really felt comfortable with my stay at the hospital and wanna thank a Mrs Mary who took the extra time to make me feel well taken care of. I was on the fourth floor with this nurse and wanna give her a thumbs up for that.
My mom stayed here for about a week. I would give it a 4 or 5 stars if not for this one person. She is a speech therapist: a terrible one and I only know her first name: Becky. She jumped to the conclusion so quick without spending too much time on my mom. I mean literally less than 1 minute. She is so defensive and mean when we tried to communicate and discuss with her. The person with personality like that shouldn’t be allowed to work in the healthcare industry especially with patients.
I love this hospital.. (as much as you can love a hospital) it can get a little crowded in the E.R. but its to be expected. I will say I have never spent more than 3 hrs here UNLESS for an overnight. And in my experience with E.R. visits; 3 hrs is a god send. Staff is amazing and I feel they genuinely care about you. Ive never had a bad experience with them.
I was admitted through the ER for abdominal pain. The staff in the ER was excellent, I was diagnosed with an infection of the gallbladder and scheduled for surgery. Every member of the hospital staff from the surgeon to housekeeping was friendly, caring and competent. Their professionalism was greatly appreciated and I am very thankful that i chose San Joaquin Community Hospital.
I was a recent patient of Adventist Health for 3 days and I am giving my 5 stars to the nurses (Highness, Sonny) and Dr Yang. I was glad every day that I got Highness as my nurse. She is exceptional and kind and awesome.However...the admitting section was another story. I was giving some paperwork about making my copay etc. They said my mom could take of it since she had my card. She went down and sat and wait...and waited...and waited....even tho there was people standing around gossiping and not even acknowledging her sitting there. finally my mom left after 30 min. Finally someone came up to my bedside but my mom was already annoyed and didnt want to talk so that was that.overall tho for the most part..i enjoyed my stay. everyone was nice, kind and helpful. :)
Your staff and nurses were nice and seem to care. But the dr. that was on call that night seems like he was on his dang period. He was so rude and obnoxious. He made me never want to go back there because he might be on call. But I will tell him how I feel. I had a abscess and the side of my face was swollen down to my neck . He said those things you take care of at the dentist this isnt a dentist. I went to another hospital. They took care me.
My wife was admitted for GI issues. Ended up staying for 6 days. All the staff we encountered from the care partners, nurses, phlebotomists, doctors, and additional healthcare staff was courteous and provided kind care. My wife’s nurses who oversaw her wellbeing were knowledgeable, provided top notch bedside manner, and compassion. All 5 physicians who were involved in my wife’s case were very nice and caring. They respected her wishes and treated her like a person, not a medical number. We got to know my wife’s healthcare staff so well that when she was discharged, we were a little sad to leave. Happy to be going home healthier and pain free, but sad to be leaving such caring and compassionate people. We’re both very happy we chose Adventist Health for my wife’s treatment.
Love this place. Everyone was very nice and when you needed a nurse for anything and you press your call button they were right there to help. If I ever have to have any more surgeries I would love to come back. Im an hour away but it is so worth it because of the care you receive.
There is a transporter named Marissa Dominguez that was currently gone for definitely LESS than 2 weeks.. Tested positive for COVID19 . She is already back at work, don’t know why. She is going to infect patients and workers. Why is this happening? Management is very well aware keeping it a secret. This is not fair to your patients and workers. A friend of mine works here told me about this.
Arrived before 1am. My one year old son was literally throwing up as we were walking in to the ER. A handful of other patients came in after me. They were attended to faster and discharge. Meanwhile my sons threw up twice in the waiting lobby. As instructed I informed the nurse, who simply continued to make us wait. I am still siting here waiting. After they said 3 more people if I could take a picture of the lobby it would show only my wife, son and myself with one other patient.
When I was a patient for a hip replacement at SJC Hospital, I received the worst possible care. When the nurse answered my call button, she always carelessly put it on a table top that I could not reach. So, I was left on the bed pan for extended lengths of time. Once, in trying to reach it, my bed pan spilled out onto my bed. Rather than changing my sheets, the help just put a disposable pad on top and left it that way for the length of my stay--4 days. If I asked a nurse for some water, I was told it wasnt her job, and to ring for someone else. When two caregivers came in to change my IV bag, they were literally reading how-to-do-it instructions while changing it out. My daughter-in-law who is a nurse, told me they could have killed me if they had got an air bubble in the line. I was never given a sponge bath while I was there; I had to ask for a toothbrush and water. The was one night aide that was really nice, and helpful, the rest were uncaring and rude. I hope I never have to go to this hospital again. Zero stars.
We have had nothing but good experiences with this hospital. All of the staff, nurses and doctors included have been wonderful, kind and helpful. I took my son in for stomach pain in the middle of the night. We did have to wait but that happens at EVERY hospital ER. Once they got us back to speak to the dr everything moved forward pretty quickly. He was diagnosed with appendicitis and his surgery was scheduled. Each and every one of the people we encountered during our time there was friendly and helpful. After a few bad experiences with Mercy Southwest we have chosen San Joaquin as our go to hospital.
Worst experience. I was told that San Joaquin had the best care in the area, that if I ever had an emergency this was the best place to take care of me. Well I regret coming here. Came into the ER with a fractured foot. Waited in the lobby 3 1/2 hrs before I was seen for my triage, then waited an additional 6 hrs after X-rays were taken for me to be seen by the actual Doctor. My foot was ridiculously swollen and bruised. I do not recommend people coming here for care. Worst care you will receive. I will not be back here in the future. Stay out of there, you will literally die waiting to be seen.

DO NOT GIVE BIRTH AT SAN JOAQUIN HOSPITAL! I gave birth here in November 2013 and it was the most traumatic and belittling experience of my life. The doctors and nurses were extremely rude and condescending. I went in at 7 centimeters and they immediately pushed me to have a C-section. One nurse even told me that I wasnt strong enough to have him naturally. I had to be extremely stubborn about having my son naturally, which I did after Iaboring for a few more hours. Like another reviewer mentioned, the nurses were also extremely rude and treated the labor room like happy hour - they continuously came into my room to discuss what they did the night before and what they were going to have for lunch. They had complete disregard for the woman with her legs in the air. Also, the pediatrician visited us about an hour after my son was born and told me that I should give him formula as my milk was not going to be enough for him. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, DO NOT GIVE BIRTH AT SAN JOAQUIN HOSPITAL!
I went in for a total knee replacement surgery and everyone from the admissions clerk, nurses, transport personnel and the OR Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very caring. They truly made me feel that I their only patient.Thank you Adventist Health Bakersfield for a truly exceptional visit.Mike Smithee
Surgery twice in June 2018Problems with Registration process, nursing ability, progress board, phone calls unanswered & pain relief.Idenity mix up on 6/13/18 between myself & another patient so staff went over board on identification on 6/26/18On 6/13/18 hospital nurse was unable to find vein.Left me with needle in my arm to go find nurse who could finish the procedure. So I told nursing staff on 6/26/18 only experienced nurse was going to insert iv.Progress board was not correctly updated.Husband called operater there was no answer.Had to repeat several times before someone answered. He was then transferred to recovery where he had the same issue. He walked over to recovery & used the phone outside. No answer till 3rd time.Medication was ordered and approved for my pain. The pharmacy refused to provide medication because they were running low!My nurse said he held the phone so that pharmacist could hear me screaming! Then the medication was provided! This is just part of the issues I experienced.ADVENTIST HEALTH BAKERSFIELD, how do you think your hospital did on my visit with their care?
I had a wonderful experience with San Joaquin Hospital when I had an injection in my back. Everyone was incredible particularly “my” nurse, Cyndi. Cyndi explained everything as we went along and exuded confidence and professionalism while at the same time showing warmth and caring.I would recommend San Joaquin in a heartbeat!
I was treated well and informed. Wish the prescription I was given had been electronic. I laid the hard copy on a desk when final vitals were being taken and left without them. They were lost and the dismissals were reprinted for me later but I had to go without the prescription that could not be re-written. I have managed but at a time when medication would be helpful.
I gave them a (2) because of their billing department. Ive made payments on (2) different accounts and they sent me to collections on both. They refused to talk to me about the accounts. Both of these are for my 18 year old son with Autism. I am very glad I moved out of the area where people know how to treat their patients.
I was taken in by ambulance and there was a team waiting on me as we hit the door . They put me in a room and started taking blood and sent me for angi=gram and heart was good then off to x ray being in there 4 days I received the most best service from everyone from drs to the transport people and food people smiles I was amazed by no end . The service I recieved will be told to my friends and anybody that ask me about my stay . Thank you and all your team for the great professionalism they showed while I was in your care from day one to day 4 .
I got ill unexpectedly and I was treated well from the ER to the admitting floor. Its important for me to feel like I matters and thats how I felt throughout my stay in the hospital. The nurses, doctors, transporters, lab technicians, pharmacists, radiologists technicians, registration and the wonderful nurses assistants were all so respectful and professional. If i have to be sick, Adventist Health of Bakersfield is where I would like to be treated.
I was the patient in your emergency room, I was treated very kindly and with compassion, I was seen triaged and medications were prescribed by the nurse practitioner, although my blood pressure was very alarming high I was not told anything about it, I felt heart palpitations after I left the emergency room but did not return. If I need to go again I will choose San Joaquin hospital for my medical needs.
My doctor left in the middle of her shift. And the new doctor came in to discharge me said all my test were normal and then i asked about the cyst that the other doctor said they found he goes oh yeah its small. I felt like i got pushed out the door gave me meds i kept trying to tell them didnt work. And on top of that theu pushed me out the door and admitted a drug addict going through withdraws and i know this cause i was sitting right next to her and she admitted to the doctor she had used the night before and they were giving her painn medss but when i asked for something to help with the pain at home i got told no they dont do that. I have a cyst that is causing me alot of pain a valid medical problem and i asked to help manage the pain at home cause i dont know how longbitbwill be before i can get into an obgyn and the pain is so bad i can barely sleep. But I got told no and over looked so they could care for a drug addict who admitted she had used and was going through withdraws. Whay kind of people do you employ. The worst service ever i wpuld have rather gone to a vet then to ever step foot in this hospital again.
Honestly the best care always. I had a gall bladder removal surgery. I had previously been seen at a local clinic only to be hurried and been told i had heartburn and bloating. But that clinic didnt do further testing. Adventist health thoroughly did bloodwork and stomach ultrasound and was told I was close going into septic shock. This hospital literally goes above and beyond.
I can barely give this place one star, and Im doing that only because we had a better experience previously. My husband, who has a history of heart problems. was taken to San Joaquin at about 9:30 this morning. We had to call an ambulance for him because his blood pressure was out of control. Until 6 PM, he had to lie on an uncomfortable table either in a small waiting area or in the hallway. His blood pressure was taken occasionally but he was given no food or water, even when he asked for it. He could not even get anyones attention to discuss his issue further. No doctor in sight. The RN on duty rudely explained that there had been some sort of emergency which is why they neglected my husband for over eight hours. Well, isnt that what a hospital is built to handle? I finally told him to get up and walk out. We will never go there again. Oh, and just a cute little PS. When I called the main desk of the hospital to ask about my husband lying in the hallway, the operator transferred me to someone who said, Hello? Really? I asked who I was speaking to. He gave his first name and that was all. I had to ask what he did at the hospital. Im the clerk, he said, whatever that means. Finally he interrupted me to transfer me to someone else, without even a Hold on a moment, please. Who are these people? Is there any kind of training being given? Needless to say, we will never go there again. There is no excuse for this kind of incompetence.
I was INJURED went to urgent care that sent me to the closest HOSPITAL I was hit in tbe head by my RV Hood dam near knocked me out a small cut in hair line after a while I started shaking and my vision got blurry my head swelled and my neck and side hurt so bad I got SCARED and it takes a near death experience or being pretty sick to end up at any ER ANY WHO AND THE DREADED WAIT. AND THEN THERE IS COVID 19..Any way I got there Given a Warm blanket. got a CT Scan given medication results in under just 3 hours. 5 Star
Terrible service in ER! 14 hour experience! I came in with a possible ruptured aneurysm. 14 hours it took to be seen by the rudest nurse practitioner Ive ever had the displeasure of dealing with. She had a bad attitude from the get go. I will never use this hospital again. Its unfortunate because I had great service from Ben in xray and a gentleman in ultrasound. The staff in the ER are obviously unhappy in their jobs and it really shows! Ill probably have to go to another hospital to get a correct diagnosis, I certainly didnt get one there. I highly recommend finding a different hospital!
Had a kidney biopsy done and after the procedure was done they had to do some blood work. When the nurse was trying the vein she poked me multiple times, when I clearly said I was a tough stick. Many of my vein were popped and she made it seem like it was my fault. My veins are very sensitive and I asked the nurse that when she would did me my medicine through the IV, of she can go slow cause my veins hurt alot. Instead of listening she automatically shoved the morphine into the IV, that I had told her it was wrong and then my arm became to turned red and get hives all over, then as if she didnt learn the first time, she did it again. The nurses were rude, my surgeon took forever to check up on me after nurses calling him multiple times due to some compilation, however the night nurses were kind. I hope I would never have to stay another time at this hospital, this has been by far the worst hospital experience ever--and I have had many. I dont recommend this hospital at all.
I have always been pleased with my treatment in your hospital. I only gave you 3 stars because of your Emergency Room, I will always do my best to avoid your ER because of the crazy overcrowding. I personally have lain in a gurney in a hallway for almost a full day, in the past. This time I was transferred in, so I only rolled thru your overcrowded ER on the way to a room, thank God.
DONOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU ARE BLACK OR WHITE. This community hospital only caters to their own kind immigrants or immigrant drug addicts. My black step sister went to this hospital with multiple cysts in her ovaries and they refused to treat her or give her pain medication. In her condition a cyst had burst and she was unable to sit down an still they refused to give her a room she was forced to sit in a uncomfrotable chair outside the room while she cried in pain. Five hours later she was crying and asked why they refused to give her an answer and the nurse said very rudly we cant give pain medication to just anyone after her diagnosis was confirmed. She sat their for 5 hours in pain. I noticed other black women were being treated the same also. This older black lady peeded on herself nine times and they refused to changed her until she also had to checkout without treatment. My sister had blue shield ppo and couldnt even get a room and she was being ignored while heroine addicts and immigrants with no health insurance were being treated before her even though she was there for 5 hours before those people. She had to pay her copay upfront before they would even see her. After that they lead her to the back with 50 other patients cramped next together in chairs and forgot all about her. Its a trash hospital with rude nurses
I took my 2 month old daughter here at 8 pm on Friday night (12/29/17) because she was having difficulty breathing. They were quick to access her and to determine she was in fact struggle. From there, it was downhill. The doctor finally came in to examine her after 30 mins of sitting in triage and after she had puked on me because she couldn’t breath. The doctor ordered her to have a breathing treatment, X-ray her lungs, and test for RSV. All three tests were done within the first hour and a half of us being there. I was told that the X-ray results were digital and that the doctor would recieve them immediately and the RSV test would take around and hour for the results. We were there for 7+ hours. After her first breathing treatment (that only took 20mins) the nurse left us sittin there for over an hour after it was done. I had to get up and track down a nurse to tell her it was done and asked if I needed to keep waiting there. She said “oh no, I’ll let the doctor know, you can go wait in the waiting room”) after we waited another hour or so we we’re called back to see the NP around midnight. The NP was the most pleasant out of everyone. She informed us that she tested positive for RSV and wanted her to have another breathing treatment to see if it would improve her coughing or she would have to be admitted. Again she went right back for the breathing treatment and we were left sitting there for another hour and a half after it was finished. By this time it’s almost 2 in the morning and after being moved to sit in front of the nurses station i had enough. After One of the ED techs comes to the front of the nurses station to ask additional family members to wait in the waiting room I asked what was taking so long for the Dr to examine her again. After giving my last name, I was then informed that my “chart” was not assigned to a provider and that’s why it was taking so long. I said “so I’ve been sitting here waiting for 2 hours for nothing”? She apologized and said someone would see us immediately. Within 5 mins the Same NP came to examine her and we were discharged within 15 mins. Basically what I’m saying is, if the nurses and Ed techs stayed on top of their patients I wouldn’t have had to sit in an ER waiting room with my 2 month old newborn for 7+ Hours surrounded by sick people in the middle of flu season. It should have taken half that amount of time if things were moved along properly. I WILL NOT be going back to this hospital for treatment.
Wouldnt even give 1 star. Horrible for e.r had nurse in triage tell me Im having a miscarriage with 2nd child before any results were given which was false and had to wait over 10 hours for any results! Took my aunt there as well having cancer and gave her horrible treatment having her leave hospital with enlarged liver and she should have been hospitalized! Delivery center was decent with 1st child but would recommend memorial for any delivery!
I have lived in Kern County for over 3 years and have not had to use any of the hospitals here. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible stomach pain and other symptoms. I came to this ER because I am a diabetic. Walked in and was greated by the rudest RN I ever met. They never checked my blood sugars, didnt give me an I. V for dehydration, or anything for pain. They stuck me in the lobby for over 6 hours. Is this a county hospital? Horrible patient care. I will NEVER come to this hospital again. EVER!!!
I came late at night around eleven or twelve. They registered me right away and I was in the back cubicle. Of course took the doctor a responsible amount of time to get to everyone. I would just like if it was more private when he talks to the patients. You can hear everyones business ect...
I would give zero stars if I could. They need to see you literally dying to pay attention to you. Have been here for more than 6 hours with mom who has extreme pain and they havent even had the decency or kindness to check her out yet. On a wall in the room they have a little plaque that says Our prayer is that you will experience comfort and compassion, hope and healing. there is absolutely no comfort and we see no compassion in making a suffering woman wait more than 6 hours crying in pain while they just walk around laughing. I have absolutely no hope in this horrible hospital and we are not receiving any healing. Wouldnt reccomend to anyone!😠
Choosing the Adventist Health AIS Cancer Center has been the absolutely best choice I have ever made concerning my diagnosis and treatment. I am so impressed with the spiritual uplifting feeling I have when I leave my appointments. All of the Healthcare workers really care about me and my healing. I would not consider going anywhere else.
Worst birth experience out of all 3 of my kids. The entire staff is rude. I only had one nice CNA. I had to switch rooms after having my son at least twice. They never verified the information for my sons birth certificate so it’s wrong. I have to pay another fee to have it amended. Then when I go there to have them sign it the women in there where beyond rude to me. I get it was a mistake on whoever’s end but no need to be rude about it. Just sign the paper and let me leave. Mercy Southwest was better.
Clean, on time, courteous nurses ( even though she blew my iv vein twice) I was coming off of a terrible surgery and was very concerned about coming out of anesthesia and having an equally bad experience with post op pain. The cost difference between Millenium and San Joaquin is significant.
I felt like it was just a number. I saw some one wet his pant. They throw a planket on the chair to soak it up, never disinfected the chair. I had to discuss my medical problems with a ten year old setting next to me. Theres more to the story, but I should of stay home. I went to kaiser on stocdale where I received better care. My hospital copay was 150.00 . Not happy with care I receive. I try three times to file a complaint, no one return my calls. Kaiser needs to do a better job.
My husband is still in the hospital, but what I can say is that from the get go of my husband being admitted, everything has been smooth in the sense the hospital staff is on their game, attending to him with great care, their communication with one another, and communication with me, keeping me informed has been more then exceptionally professionally well handled.I also want to add, I like the fact that this hospital is dealing with all safe pre cautions to keeping everyone safe when entering this hospital, unlike some hospitals, sorry, but I am going to give credit where credit is deserved, other hospitals have and are not doing what this hospital is doing on everyones safety, and well beingThank You !!!!I also want to give a shout out to the Halls Ambulance Service, especially to a Debois, I hope I got it right, he was also with a female partner, never got her name, so sorry, but you two were great !!!I also want to Thank the Fire Department. I will eventually get the right crew credit for that call that night...
Normally things go pretty good at Adventist . I went to the ER a few days ago and there was a very small amount of people to be seen. I felt like I was treated poorly this time around. There was plenty of room to wait by the nurses station(I was the only one there) and I was still kicked out to the lobby.
The intake nurse is very polite and caring. You can tell she really cares about patients. I wish i could remember her name. I would like her to be recognised as a great employee and nurse. My personal nurse carlos and my provider christoph McDermott are also great nurses and Doctors. They explained my care treated me with empathy. I have no complaints. I reccomend Adventist health with 5 stars
So far I’m giving this place a 1star! I haven’t even been to the hospital yet. I’ve been trying to call to pre-register with Tiffani, since she’s the only that handles pre-registering. Some how she has been busy all week. I can’t even get her on the phone smh. Poor service (laziness)
Absolutely stunned at the lack of service. I was looking for a walk in clinic open on a Saturday and had no luck so I called this Hospital. I was told by the operator about their Fast Track Department in the ER and I was transferred to them. When asked about it, the first person had no idea what that was but asked the person next to them and they confirmed that they are the Fast Track Department of the ER. I then asked what it was that they did for the ER. She sounded confused and stated she was in the ER. I get that, so I ask again what the Fast Track portion of that was supposed to mean. Ultimately I was trying to see if they had a less urgent walk in clinic as my mother may have bronchitis and its a simple visit. She transferred me to a woman that simply explained triage. How this was a difficult question is beyond me. If Fast Track only means that its a program or that their intention is to get the most urgent cases through first... SAY THAT! At the very least if youre going to give something a name, tell your staff what it is so that they can succinctly explain it themselves. You would have thought I asked them to solve a question about quantum physics! I never raised my voice or said anything derogatory, I simply asked what something meant and if they could see my mother quickly as its not a complicated issue that she is having. Yet they felt the need to hang up on me. Ive worked in hospitals... even if somehow I was being difficult I still would not have handled this the way that they did. If you dont know, ask someone else... or say you dont know. Dont hang up!
I rate the food a 1 or 2 tops. horrible food. kindness of staff a 5. private room was nice but can only give the room a 1 because there was blood in the floor in the bathroom from a prior patient. asked housekeeping to clean up blood and all they did was run over it with a dry mop. they used my bathroom for storing 3 porta potties. continuity of care was a 3 because they admitting doc and the discharging doc didnt seem to have communicated well about my case. the Kaiser case Mgr scheduled me a 10 day follow up with my former pcp whom I fired. when I explained I didnt want to see him as he was no longer My pcp -rather than change the appt she opted for talking about God and how wonderful he was to her and her life.
7 hours and you dont even see a doctor, just a nurse practitioner. Had kidney stones. Left to sit in waiting room after a shot of morphine. We were referred here by Kaiser to see a urologist, the nurse practitioner and the doctor were just nasty. Doctor said I am not going to wake up the urologist for you, I am not going to give you a Ct scan and I am not giving you any pain pills, is there anything else I can do for you? This place is horrible and treated others there just awful.

2022-03-10BEWARE of my billing nightmare. After my surgery and procedure was approved in advance however I did not receive a bill until 6 months after my surgery, from the hospital, that the insurance was not making good on the payment to the hospital. The insurance had already paid everyone and everything except Adventist Health facility. Billing simply put it back on me to contact my insurance since they had appealed already. Not a problem I thought. When I contacted my insurance they did not understand why the hospital was NOT paid and it must have been something on the billing end or coding etc at the hospital . My insurance asked me to have the hospital appeal again along with myself and they would push it through. I did my part , but when contacting billing , I was told my request was refused and just kept telling me it was their policy to only appeal once. I understand that with Covid staff is short and untrained, but to outright deny something that can help their customers and ensure that they get their payment in full with complete refusal to check for errors on their part or to simply send out another appeal is beyond understanding. They may want to rethink the one appeal policy especially if it is at the request of the insurance.Trust me I understand it’s frustrating to do something again after it has already been done( exactly what I am going through myself right now dealing with this). But you do what needs to be done to ensure everyone gets paid. Just help me to help you!I do want to say thought staff at the hospital are amazing. I have had a few surgeries here and when my father died suddenly and was taken to this hospital. Everyone was amazing when my heart was broken. This is the first time I have ever had an issue so hopefully it can be resolved.

2022-04-10My father came in last Saturday with a serious gallbladder infection and other issues. Words can not express how amazing the whole hospital staff has been. It has been a very difficult time for our family but everyone has been amazing. A special thanks to Dr. Yang and her amazing talents. Each day he gets better thanks to the excellent care at this facility.

2022-03-30As always it sucks to go to the hospital special especially when youre there for over 12 hours. However, nurses were very helpful and constantly checked up on me and even gave me food while i waited. The nurse that mostly stuck out to me in the ER was Anna, There were many complications that were inevitable but she made me feel safe and comfortable and was able to fix them almost immediately. I could tell it was a very difficult shift for her but she still came to check on me often and with a smile.

2022-02-04Let me tell you about the horror story we are currently experiencing with this hospital. My father is a truck driver and had a medical emergency and an ambulance took him here. My family and I live up in the State of Oregon and had to drive roughly 15 hours to come down here. We have been patient, kind, and understanding with the staff. We get that hospitals are overwhelmed and understaffed, but it is just absolutely cruel the way we are not getting any information. Anytime we call to check his status (he can’t communicate himself yet) we are told to call back.No one has offered to call us, no one gives us information. It’s been two days and we hardly know what is going on! I am appalled at the lack of empathy and understanding the staff has, especially since my mother and sister have been so patient and understanding with the medical staff. I hope my father is able to wake up and be discharged soon so that we can get him out of there. Do better!

2022-01-22If i could rate this place lower, i would. They left my poor mother with NO CLUE why we couldnt visit. They didnt clean her up or anything. She came home with the WORST rash on her private areas because they couldnt be bothered to check on her or even take her to go to the bathroom. I have NEVER seen a place so unprofessional with the relaying of information, either. We would barely get any word on her condition and when they would call us, someone would call and tell us completely contradictory information. The ONLY reason we even had her here was because the ambulance took her there. NEVER AGAIN. Oh and if you want your loved one shuttled to you, they take over 2 hours to being her home, COVERED in her own waste. WORST HOSPITAL.

2022-04-29Horrible hospital do not ever go here if you can help it. My 82 year old dad was here for 2 1/2 weeks. He was not taken care of properly. Has lung cancer and dementia he was not washed up, no fresh water Machines were beeping for times of 45 minutes or longer and no one came in push the call button no one came in. Nurses did not communicate with each other. Please avoid this place. It saddened me to see my father not taken care of.

2022-05-12I had to go to L&D, I hate that they make you go through an over crowded ER due to covid instead of entering through the main lobby. How is making you go through all the sick people while in Labor safer than going straight to L&D. While in my room my paper towel dispenser didnt work, the remote to the tv and call nurse didnt work and they didnt have any pillows at all. There was random urine samples in multiple locations in my room without names I thought was odd.... I had to get moved again to go to ultrasound down stairs instead of them coming to me. If insurance allows Id recommend going to Mercy Southwest to have a baby. Everything is clean and updated making eveything go fast amd smooth.

2022-07-03Was here for a SEVERE tooth ache that ONLY stop with ICE COLD WATER. nothing else helps it. I came here today on a SUNDAY for PAIN MANAGEMENT till MONDAY when Dentist offices are actually open. I was told that they can’t fix my tooth and that they could do nothing for my pain since the ONE Vicodin they gave me didn’t stop my pain. I was ALSO told that since my tooth doesn’t react to cold water it’s not as bad as I was making it out to be, when I’m reality ice cold water on a tooth to relieve pain means the WORST CASE SCENARIO! Means the tooth is dead or dying! Means u need MEDICAL ATTENTION ASAP!! I was there for almost 8 hours and now I’m driving away with the SAME SEVERE PAIN I came here with! The doctor did seem to care at all!! She spoke to me without compassion and as if I was wasting her time. Now I don’t know what to do till tomorrow!! She refused to help me with my pain. I’m just … the discrimination was INSANE! She was the meanest doctor I’ve EVER WITNESSED NO ONE DESERVES TO HAVE THEIR SEVERE UNCONTROLLABLE PAIN IGNORED!!! All she had to do was CARE. Unbelievable!!!!!!
