We went there for the Notary Service. You dont have to be a member. You check in (outside), they take your phone number and text you when its your turn to come in. Then you go to the (Text return) line and wait for your rep to bring you in.Very easy, clean, happy and easy going people.NOTE: No public bathrooms, eek.
My first time calling for roadside assistance due to a dead battery AAA kept me waiting on the phone for 3 hours decided to just call a family member to come help me out instead. Bad service!! Second time my car ended up breaking down on the road and this time they answered the phone sent me a tow truck ended up waiting 4 hours for the tow truck, and then the driver ended up calling me saying hes not going to be able to pick up my car anymore because he picked up another car instead, so I had to call road side assistance again but this time they didnt pick up my phone so I had to pay out of my pocket, so I called a towing company to come pick up my car and tow it to a mechanic!! I dont know why Im paying for a service that doesnt work when you really need it!! I recommend to go somewhere else and dont pay your hard earned money to a company that doesnt appreciate your business.
Not very happy at all with the service. I requested a tow truck to tow my car to a mechanic. I knew my membership gave me 7 free miles and anything over would be about $10/mile. My mechanic was 8 miles away so I figured I would just pay an additional $10 but they decide to route their driver through a longer route that is 12 miles and want to charge me $50 now. I asked why they are taking the longer route they said thats just what their system said and and did not want to change it to go the shorter route. Thought I could count on AAA with their customer service but no I cant.
Worst customer service I have ever had. I paid my bill in full for the year, a month later I received a letter saying I owed another $215 when I called to ask for an explanation for the extra charge they where not able to provide me a reason. the charge was removed or at least thats what I thought... two weeks later I went to go test drive a car, when I called AAA to get a copy of my insurance card I was told that my insurance was canceled over a $26 due balance. The person I spoke to this time confirmed that the pervious person took care of the issue and she was not sure why they canceled my coverage. They never contacted me about this absolutely unacceptable. She removed the fee and sent me the insurance cards. I ended up buying the car so I called to have it added to my policy and lone and behold the agent told me I couldnt make any changes because I didnt have an active policy... I told them that was incorrect and I have already corrected this issue twice already and I needed to speak with a manager. They put me through to the voice mail I waited 24 hours no call back. Called again, sent to the manager voice mail again no call back. After 7 days of trying to get ahold of someone I was finally able to get ahold of a manager. They then said I still owe them money when I asked for the reason they still couldnt provide an answer. I asked Romeo (the manager) why three other people told me my account was set which he also said he didnt know why because there system didnt have enough detail. Needless to say I have asked for a refund of my year payment and have moved over to Wawanesa. DO NOT USE AAA unless you like wasting hours (no exaturation) on the phone and want a company that tries to charge you extra with no explanation.
I went here with no appointment on a Saturday morning during a passport fair. I took my photos, filled out an app, and applied for an expedited passport. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Im very impressed at the efficiency in which they operate. Great job AAA! Thank you!
Feels a bit like the DMV. Antiquated payment process (you have to punch in your own credit card number and info versus chip or magnetic strip). Long wait times. Mix of some friendly and some very annoyed employees that like to complain. Notary is $10/ signature, which is a savings, so thats good.
I literally never use my membership, but the DMV work these folks can do, 1000% worth it, especially in CA. I really should take more advantage of all the other features I get in my membership, but this is like the cherry on top if you are on the fence about getting in on an AAA membership (at least in my opinion). Additionally, these folks are quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and really hospitable.
Nice big building, where you can get a lot done. I went to change my address, and had to wait for a agent, I should have been able to just update and go. They then and still are trying to get me to change insurance companies, and continue to call and e mail, and this was 3 months ago. Took a second call to get them to update my information, and more calls about insurance. They are not like the state I left, more pushy and care more about their sales than the member.
AAA is a racket. They dont tell you what you need to bring for any services in their website. They dont let you talk to a person on the phone to ask. They dont let you make an appointment to visit, even with the current pandemic. Then they tell you that they cant help you because you dont have what they need when you get there and wait for an hour. What am I paying AAA for? They dont do anything.Edit: This has happened every single time Ive tried to use any service AAA offers.
First time visit to this location to get my vehicle registration put in my name and pay the fees. Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Only had to wait 20 minutes. Definitely better than a 2 hr wait at DMV. Plus got a very comfortable seat and free bottle of water in a nice air conditioning building. Just be aware that they only accept cash or check for DMV transactions.
The Hotel Circle location is convenient, and theres plenty of parking. I love going there to get my tags, rather than having to deal with the DMV. Theyll help even if youre late with registering your vehicle, as I was this year. The staff is courteous. When I registered my car last year, it was cold and raining. A very kind staff member let me in about a half hour early, just so I didnt have to sit outside until 10:00am, which is when they open on Saturdays.
I like to share my experience with this company, hopefully I can save someone from making the same mistake I did. I been a member of roadside assistance and they always been wonderful, so a couple years ago I ask them about car insurance quote and because of my driving record They said I didn’t qualify so years go by, I don’t remember if they contact me or I contacted them anyways I got a quote my driving record has been the same no recent violations or anything. I had been with infinity insurance for years but I was looking for a better quote. Well I got one AAA bundle me and I would save $30 dlls a month I was so happy! My quote monthly was $296.96a month 2 cars and renter insurance. I payed $400.00 to start it was high but I thought well I’m gonna save in the long run, plus it’s AAA a world wide reputable company, 2 MONTH down the road they send me an email my insurance was going to be $365.96 so I call immediately To find out why! I was told they found a decrepancy in my record and that why it’s going up, but NOTHING CHANGED IN 2 MONTHS I was told sorry it is what it is and I had to pay $365.96 a month I was so heartbroken how can they do that? I was honest with my agent about my record they ran it 3 times. Then COVID hit and this epidemic have hurt everyone financially on top of that, so I had to get a different quote because I could not afford it. I call to CANCEL and told me I OWED $550.00 for cancellation fees I was furious I agree on $296.94 not $365.96 I don’t know how they get away with this, they dupe ppl to change their insurance and then hit them with a brick. I don’t know how legal it is because I’m sure every insurance would be doing that. That’s why they are laws so insurance company don’t take advantage of their clients and vice versus clients don’t take advantage of the insurance company I’m really amaze that this even possible. I like to hear if anyone else gone through this with AAA, what can I do?
Sometimes it might take a little long, but nothing compared to DMV hell wait times. The facilities are in great condition, and it normally seems as if everyone employed here loves their job. Prices are the same as what would be paid at the DMV, and the AAA representatives always go above and beyond to help, and do everything they can!
Great experience yesterday! In and out with full registration in my hand. Needed sticker right away and was informed by a friend AAA will handle it in store. Got my card and sticker in less than 30 min (it was a busy time). Clean store, friendly staff, happy customer!
For a huge business such as this, the workers at the roadside assistance call center are shockingly incompetent. Took an hour for a driver to show up for a lockout of my vehicle, engine running in an unsafe spot. My neighbor was blocked in his driveway and missed a job, while having called the roadside number back 4 x to find out the operator who took my call got the make and model of my car completely wrong as well as never escalated the call to having any urgency!! There was miscommunication as well re instructions to follow at the gate to my community. Been a member for 20 years but am rethinking taking my business elsewhere after several occurances of poor response time and customer service.
Forget trying the notary services, it isn’t worth the price break. I waited 45 minutes to be told they wouldn’t provide service because I left two inapplicable reference documents at the office. Instead of service, I got thrown a stupid rule stating “I can’t serve you unless I can staple the entire document together.” Dumb. My first member experience with AAA. Strike one.
Long wait times, do not complete DMV transactions making you have to come back and wait again. There was no effort to help with the wait time even though its their fault I had to come back. I signed up with AAA for better service than the DMV do this is not what I was expecting.
45 minutes trying to insure and add my vehicle and agent had no clue that a 61 car thats smog exempt foes not need smog, tried to explain the law to juan no luck, went to hagerty and dmv in less than 15 minutes all together and I was driving my classic car to the beach.
Insurance side is pretty shady, in my distinct opinion. Travel and roadside assistance side is helpful, and worth the $50/yr that it has ballooned up to. DMV service is quite valuable and worth the cost in spades. But, definitely, take notes and comparison-shop any insurance quotes you get from them. They claim to save you money, but, again, in my distinct opinion, they bait-and-switch with all sorts of qualifying nonsense on your auto insurance bill. Dodgy stuff.
Fast and Efficient customer service, knowledgeable staff and an under 4 minute wait time is what I experienced when I came to this AAA just before the Christmas holiday. I arrived about 10:15am on a Friday morning and there was almost zero wait time! They handled my transaction of gifting a AAA membership in about 7 minutes and I was on my way. Superb service and experience at this AAA in San Diego!
So I have been a AAA member and insurance policy holder for over 10 years. Started in Oklahoma and 3.5 years ago moved to southern CA. Transferred all my policies because up until that time I had been extremely satisfied with the company and its care for its members and policy holders. But since transferring to southern CA I have had nothing but issues with my policies and the company. I had changed my renters insurance over and the policy not only didnt get handled properly but I was grossly over charged and had to spend weeks handling the reimbursement. Then I sold my vehicle and had to change vehicles on my auto policy. Did it over the phone only to get a notice from the DMV stating they were going to revoke my registration due to not having insurance on my new vehicle. That took about a week to get handle. Now Ive been loyal and dont want to change insurance companies or give up my membership with triple A, but yet again I bought a new car a few months ago and called AAA the monday after I bought my car (2/18/19) to change vehicles on my policy again and have my previous vehicle taken off. And here it is 5-13-19 and I just got a notice from the DMV stating no proof of insurance. So sure enough I call AAA and they are still showing my old car on and I have been driving my new car around for months now without proper insurance because some agent didnt do his job properly over the phone last time. De ja vu anyone! So now I stayed on the phone till I got the email that showed the change and am having to painfully work with the DMV to get this resolved before they revoke my registration. And of course Expressing all of my frustrations and concerns to my insurance company...AAA... has fallen on deaf ears. Now everyone in my family (10 members) have been loyal customers (some life long) to this company. Needless to say we are now all currently starting to look else where for new services.
I went to start the registration for a used car I just bought. I looked at the “wait time” at the DMV and thought I’d give AAA a try. Great people!! They not only completed the registration in a short period of time, but checked to see if the used car had been smogged within the last 90 days. Saved me a trip to the Smog station. Best people ever!
Got great service from all employees. The customers who were in and out before me were doing other things that required less time or they were prepared. I had to fill out paperwork and get back in line to be seen. No problem with that. If I had been better prepared I would have been out sooner.
AAA is great. I honestly think the membership price for the DMV renewal service alone is worth it. I havent waited longer than 15 minutes for a DMV transaction, I deal with a happy smiling person, and I have my stickers in hand as I leave. I havent been to the DMV office in over 5 years and every time I drive by I cringe and have flashbacks about how I used to spend 2 hours sitting around to get a 5 minute issue taken care of. This location is very clean, well-organized and well-staffed. Free travel books are available. They offer many auto services (auto buying service, battery replacement service, auto inspection service, car buying negotiation assistance and auto insurance). The representatives remember me by name. If you do get a AAA membership make sure to explore all the benefits so you can take full advantage of it. Some levels include free notary services, lock-out/locksmith services, trip cancellation/interruption benefits.
Went to this place today to buy discounted tickets to a local attraction. Once you get here theres no indication on what to do (no sign saying if you should sign in, take a number, or talk to a specific person.) After a few minutes walking around idly, I decided to interrupt a gentleman and ask. He seemed disinterested in helping and pointed me to the person I should talk to with the absolute minimum of effort. Once I talked to the right person, things flowed much better and I managed to get my tickets in a reasonable amount of time.
Pretty nice AAA office. Came in to transfer an out of state (but already registered in CA) vehicle expecting the worst. 10 minute wait, all they needed was title, registration card (or registration notice), last smog check and $15! Painless. Didnt even need vehicle present.
This office saved me a trip to the DMV when I bought a car. They did all of the transfer of title, fees, registration, etc. What a huge relief because I was buying the car from someone who had inherited it when her Dad passed away. After much Googling and trying to navigate the DMV website, it finally dawned on me that because Im a member, AAA could help me. The staff was so helpful and provided all services free of charge - and was very efficient.
I had three 20 minutes before the closing time, and they refuse the services to me.. By saying that they couldnt help me because they have been really busy all day, and they were gone have enough time to help me out, and also that there was no one capable in the office to do the my paperwork. Thats really unprofessional.. I think.
Lesson #1 NEVER book travel with AAA! Our travel agent booked my young daughter twice and did not book me correctly on the same flight to London. The airline did not allow us to board due to AAA’s error.Lesson #2 AAA in CA does not have a 24-hour call-line to assist members with travel emergencies. Travel insurance, which I purchased, does not cover booking errors by travel agents.Lesson #3 After 25 years of being a loyal AAA member, I trusted that we were in good hands. Turns out, we are not.
Ive been a member of AAA Southern California for over 12 years. Access to all their amazing resources including Maps, trip planning, discounts on hotels and other travel-related businesses, and their DMV services all make this an incredible bargain in addition to Awesome Towing if and when I need it.
Travel agent Julie Moores absolutely the best travel agent Ive ever had, hands down!!I can also get my new tags there instead of waiting for them to come from the DMV and of course the roadside assistance and all that comes with that is fine too. But Julie is the star!
If you are planning a big trip, especially overseas, there is one Agent you need to see. Frank To! Ive been with him now for several years and he has been spot on! He is a stickler for details. Visas, flight seating, insurance, rental cars, ..... etc. He tracks your every move. As an example of his efficiency, ...presently my wife and I are planning a trip to Myanmar. Mr. To checked out our flight schedule and noted that we would get in at 22:30 hr. ...a bad time to find transportation in a foreign country after a 22 hour flight.By the end of the day, problem solved.I highly recommend the AAA agent Frank To for both domestic and foreign travel plans.
Both agents I spoke with over the phone were unhelpful and rude. The first just transferred my call and the second woman was not only rude and condescending, the information she gave me was not correct and I had to come into a branch for help. I have been a member for 17 years and this is the first year I will be seeking a new company to manage my insurance
Nice facility, great service from all employees but one. The registration woman who has all of the Camaro desk ornamentation that looks/acts like Wednesday from Adams Family all grown up needs a serious attitude adjustment. She treats customers as though they are the employee and she is a disgruntled customer is bothered by your mere presence. She seems to take pleasure from not helping you.
I like triple a and all it does for customers but here recently weve had a string of bad luck my RV was vandalized and stolen and broken into and so I got it back and put it in storage took it out of storage I was talk to you by the cops said RV had to be moved I called triple a they say theyre coming to get it they then call me back later on that night saying the driver has gone home and that itll be 7:00 the next day will 7:00 they stay rolls around Im not there I figure they got it now the RV is nowhere to be found the city doesnt know where it is neither this aaa I dont know what to do but I like triple a
I have a Smart Car and it would not start. Tow operator responded to the emergency call; however, he did not know where the battery is located nor when he called the main office to get help to tell him where the battery is located they also had no idea where it is. I didnt know as I havent had a battery problem since the time I bought the car two years ago. Ce la vie.On my own, I discovered where it is located but I am not going to tell them
A request for a broken down scooter in Point Loma, San Diego, turned out to be a THREE HOUR TOUR. The original request for the tow order got lost in the system. My husband called again to re-request a tow and was told it was a busy day (Saturday) 70 degrees, and sunny (not a cloud in the sky or an earthquake in sight). After waiting 3 hours on Harbor Drive, a tow truck finally arrived. NOTE: MY husband could have walked home (off Rosecrans) and back twice while waiting for the tow truck. Overall, a very frustrating experience with AAA, who we contact about once every 3 years (for 3 drivers)
Wow, Ive had AAA for over 20 years and recently just changed insurance company. Got into an accident in San Diego with the other party being at fault 100%. Being on the other side you learn how the company is in true colors and they treated me with rudeness, arrogance and just plain unprofessional. Their rep spoke to me like he was talking to some kid and short of accusing me for the injuries of the accident. Im a retired law enforcement officer and a business owner and I would not speak to anyone like that. He talked a big show but that was over the phone. He wasnt a man enough to speak to me like that in person. Brian in Escondido, have to guts to meet me face to face and lets see if you are still arrogant.
I have waited for a call back twice for over an hour for each. I called the local office and was told they couldnt help, that they are only agents. When I get the info confirmed that I need, I will be shopping for other insurance that does not just offer service they actually give it.

2022-05-07I came here to get a car title transfer instead of going to DMV. They finished helping me within 10min and I got the new Registration Card paper. Recommend to arrive before 8:45am if you plan to come on Saturday morning since they open at 9am. The staff is friendly and helpful here.

2022-03-03Today I renewed my registration. I lovely lady named Michelle helped me. I asked for car insurance info for my son, which she gave me. I left and then received a call from her because after I left she went out of her way to research my sons situation more. I was so happy to find out we could switch my sons car insurance to AAA. Thank you so much Michelle!!!

2022-05-02Went here Saturday at 10:45am and had a very smooth experience transferring the registration of a car from our parents to us. Got the new registration and plates in less than 20 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The security guard even lent us a screwdriver and wrench so we could change the license plates. The AAA membership is soooo worth the cost for the roadside assistance and for the DMV related tasks !

2021-03-12AAA is probably the best money you can ever spend. Especially now when the DMV isn’t taking appointments so wait times are essentially measured in years. In and out, transferred a title, registered a motorcycle, and added it to my insurance in less than 30 minutes. AAA is FANTASTIC!

2022-04-11Almost as unhelpful as the DMV, receptionist was awful a real tool. Not sure why I am still with this insurance company to be honest.

2021-09-18If youve been to one AAA, in my experience, youve been to all of them. Super organized. Super efficient. Staff is friendly and competent. Even if you only go there once a year, to pay your registration, its worth the annual membership fee. And if you have a wife &/or daughter, it would be wrong for them each, to not have AAA.

2021-03-13You cant get a license or even a replacement but everything else for the most part you can do. Total time to transfer a title was an hour. This includes wait time. Everybody was friendly and helpful. The clerk who helped us was due with baby next week. Today was her last day b4 leave. She was so professional and careful making sure everything went smooth. This was night and day compared to the DMV. AAA membership has its privileges.

2020-09-17First station/Walk in attendant greeted me, which was awesome. Waited about 10 minutes or so, not too long. Went to the window and was greeted by Ashlee who helped me yesterday. She was amazing and greeted professional customer service skills. She hand me over to Chris Cann, I think thats his last name. Excellent service. He was Great. Oh Nd I forgot about Ernie, who assisted me yesterday too. Great Job to all!!

2020-08-28Feels like DMV. Can get long waits but they treat you well. They are highly professional. I registered an out of state vehicle at AAA. Hassle free. Best service. Membership paid itself with great people at AAA.

2021-01-14I love the AAA... especially over any DMV visit. I will say that my experience at this location (during COVID) has been terrible. Go to the La Mesa Location... Reason why, the automated check in system is just silly. This is a constructive complaint as today & yesterday my name was removed off the list / kicked out of line like a defective product off a assembly line. Two start, with a +1 as the security guard kept me in good vibes with warm conversation. 🙏
