This asian supermarket is nicely spaced out, but is not as crowded as others in this neighborhood. Decently clean, but they do not provide wipes for the shopping carts, so make sure to bring your own.Update: Last two visits were sub par, its probably due to Chinese new year, so the store is packed with people for last weekend shopping. It smells like sewage around their loading dock and trash bin, which is right next to one of their two entrances. The interior is still somewhat clean, but still they DO NOT offer any cleaning wipes or alcohol to wipe down the carts.
All the Asian produce and ingredients you could want! Not just chinese! Saw a great selection of Malaysian sauces, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese soy sauces, fish sauces, vinegars. The best place to shop if youre trying to cook asian food!Bonus: also seems to have most everything you need for regular Western cooking!
Great seasonal produce selection, varying price ranges; fresh fish market is old fashioned, run by a master, if you want fresh fish go when you are not in a rush. Extensive dried grocery, frozen and refrigerated items, and yes, even milk. Staff efficient, they get customers out asap. This is my favorite grocery shopping experience, I can find Japanese, Korean as well as Chinese items, and at better prices than Whole Foods and other places. Health protocols consistent.
Im so mad at this place right now. I wanted to go shop in this place as soon as i walk in security wanted me to leave my purse in the entrace, MY PURSE!!! He said that that was their rules. I probably didnt do the right thing call for a supervisor, but I really got mad
I just found an authentic Asian market. They have a huge fish department, sliced meats, marinated meats, all the rice and noodles you may need. They have dim sum, fresh or frozen. They have all the sauces and spices you can think of. Mushrooms galore! You cant go wrong with your Ramen or Korean BBQ recipes if you shop here.
This 99 ranch location has less foot traffic when compared to the other locations in the surrounding area. There are pros and cons to this.Pros:Cleaner than most 99 Ranch markets.Pretty well stock non-perishable items.Pretty well stocked frozen seafood and meats.More space to social distance.Cons:Perishable items can lack variety due to less turn around. Some prices can be more expensive than other stores.Overall, I would say its worth coming here with less customers even if it is more expensive. Just dont be surprised if you cant find all of the things on your shopping list.
Fruit is hit and miss here. Got a packaged jackfruit with an expiration date in the future but it looked and tasted rotten after I opened it (prior to expiration). I got a yellow watermelon and cut it open same day and it turned out to be overripe. Probably the last time I buy fruit here.
The store is great for Asian goods & grocery, but the veggies isn’t the best looking. Sometimes I’ll come across almost rotten food, and in terrible shape. It has most things you’ll need for Asian cooking, everything is organized, price is fair. One thing I particularly wanted to talk about is the express lane. They have an express lane for items less than 10, but they never reinforce it. It frustrating because I live close by and come here every couple days, and when I do, I only get a couple items, and it’s trusting to have to wait for customer in front of me that has 20-30 items waiting in the express line.
You can find pretty much everything you need for Asian cooking. Huge selection from sauces to spices. Also I have to mention its wonderful snack selection ranging from egg rolls to shrimp crackers. Bakery lovers should definitely check out the bakery there too. They also sell milk tea at the bakery. Get a reward card for discounts.
I really enjoy walking around this grocery store. So many different items to see. I just wish they would let you taste some of their items. They have three new food concession places now in front of the store, just pass the checkout stands. Sorry, it was not clear to me what they were selling. If you want fresh fish they have aquariums full. There is also an excellent collection of fresh fish on ice. But they also offer frozen duck, rabbit, frogs legs and venison. They also had cooked and raw duck on the right when you first walk into the store from the right front door. I will be going back.
The produce was surprisingly expensive. Bought a bbq bowl and some of the bbq pork in the hot case. Pork was okay but the duck in the bbq bowl was a disappointment. Almost no meat and the skin was not rendered well. Selection in store was pretty good though was the smallest 99 Ranch market Ive been in.
Its standard grocery shopping experience but during COVID theres inadequate supplies (hand-sanitizers, wipes to clean the cart, etc.). Clerks are masked and some with face shields but seems not be social-distance compliant. If youre just doing quick runs, bring some supplies on your own, and you should be fine.
Nice grocery store. I dont live in the area, but had to get an onion and some ginger on my way home. I liked how wide the aisles were, especially in the produce department. It makes shopping so much more pleasant when customers can easily pass each other. They only had ginger by the bag, so I had to buy a lot more than I needed. The parking lot had normal-sized spaces which are oddly hard to come by these days when youre lucky if your door will open once you park.
Sometimes you feel a little intimidated because you think you need to speak the language. This place is no different than going to a Superior or other ethnic markets. But dont let that stop you from getting some good deals on fruits and vegetables. This place is clean and offers many Asian products. They have a large seafood and meat department also.
It was alright. I mean they had vast amount of products you cant find anywhere, but the price was not all that great. I say if I am around the neighborhood, and I have other things to do around the area then I would shop here. I rather stick to the other Asian market places.
My son and I were impressed with this market. It is very clean and everything is in order. Most Asian markets have a distinct odor to them that can be off putting to some people but this market has none of that. I peeked at the meat counter and the live and packaged seafood. It all looked great. I cant wait to go back and take advantage of some of these ingredients.
THE Chinese grocery store in SoCal. Lots of Asian fare to choose from. Love the fresh fish and seafood section. Pick the fish or crustacean you want and they will pick if from the tank and happily prepare for transport home. This is my go to spot for the foods I can not find in a traditional Western style grocery store.
This is the most American-like Chinese grocery store i am in to. Tidy. Staff soft spoken. Shrink-wrapped fresh choice cut meat. Fish head. Beef-&-pork feet. Heart-liver. Variety of fish head from Tuna to Salmon and others. Just love this place. Dont forget the produce. They got wines Chinese alcohol & beers. Come & visit. Explore.
Great Asian market with many products and much variety- fresh fish and meat counter with deli style foods, hot foods in-store dining - 2 restaurants inside and the best fresh bread Ive had since N.Y Their french 🍞 is amazing! 2 thumbs and two big toes up! Vegetables are fresh, fruits are excellent- They offer a club card but the prices are competitively low. The store is warehouse-style so its big , well lit, clean and plenty of checkers/ registers. Plenty of parking and there are other stores to visit while youre there. GameStop is on the same shopping center. Handicap parking and Handicap accessibility.
The prices are fine. If youre looking for organic produce, it simply isnt there with the exception of bananas and mushrooms. The organic bananas are less expensive at Sprouts. The restrooms are a bit gross, but Ive definitely seen worse. I probably wont be back, but its a fine grocery store if you dont care about your stuff being organic.
The staff here seems not to like non Asian people. I have seen 4 different cashiers greet and speak with asian customers in a friendly manner with a smile. Then when the non Asian customer approaches the the register they go silent and do not even say hello or ask for the stores savings card. But I gave it 2 stars because the produce and selection is pretty good. Overall kinda racist staff but good selection
Was in n out quick. Lines werent that long. Has a half n half too!!!. Update, Tuesdays half n half are closed, but tastea is open. Bought the sushi at the ranch market, its not bad, pretty good especially if you just want to go in n out for a quick lunch. Unfortunately things are getting pricey due to the economy, Russia/Ukraine war, and pandemic.
Nice simple Asian grocery store. Can get lots of proteins and produce for relatively cheap based on specials and weekly deals. Most items usually well stocked. They have a membership card that I am yet to even capitalize on redeeming the reward for as a single male. Clean environment. Does have a ramen and boba place inside the grocery store
99 Ranch Market is my go to grocery place for Asian food. They have Bakery and Bento foods as well. I think most of the products are Taiwanese goods. The 99 R.M. is neat, huge and well organized. Prices are very affordable compared to other Asian groceries. Staff are friendly and competent. Parking lot is huge. I highly recommend this grocery market.
Mediocre offerings but have a huge variety of Asian ingredients that cant be found at major US grocery chains. But someone need to do something about the sour garbage smell in front of the market entrance. The odor is so overpowering. And in front of a place that sells food! It makes you very suspicious of the quality of the product and meats.
Great grocery store for all your needs. There are tons of grab and go meal options as well as pastries and snacks. The produce and meats are extremely affordable and I love that I can find any ingredients I may need for preparing Asian dishes at home. This store is a staple for grocery runs for my household!
This is an oriental supermarket. They sale an extensive variety of food products. The fish department has an extensive inventory of sea products, and they are priced reasonably. They also offer an extensive stock of vegetables and fruits. The store is clean, with good appeal and very clean.
This is my favorite 99 Market other than the main one on Del Mar Ave. This location used to be a Ralph supermarket, thus this 99 Market has nicer setting and bigger isles. I cant tell if this store is more expensive than other stores but I like the how clean and welcome this store is. And a good selection of fresh produce and live seafood.
Overwhelming numbers of quality Asian foods and ingredients. They got quick meal restaurants to hungry shoppers. Fresh seafood on ice or swimming in tanks, packed hot and cold meals, chinese style bbqs and reasonably priced. Friendly smiles are returned but you have to initiate it and they may try their best to reply in English. All of the above, that’s how much authenticity you can get.
I have never been to this place before, It was so clean and neat, everyone I came across was super nice, I thought it was going to be Hispanic Mkt. But, it turned out to be Oriental Style, they had everything you could think of, I loved it... will definitely go back.
Me and my girl needed some things for her kids who were staying with their Dad for the coming week so we stopped by this 99 market and we couldnt find anything we knew the kids would like. This market (which I think was a Vons or some other big name market before it was this 99 Market) seems to be a new Asian owned establishment. If youre of Asian descent, I think this place would be ideal for you if youre looking for ingredients to make dinner. Me? I was looking for cocoa puffs cereal for the kids and couldnt find any. Then the gallon of milk was something like $4.59, a little too much, I think. The place is clean, I could vouch for that. Other than that, thats all I have for anyone thats interested.
If this is the one in Alhambra, I used to go about every other day for a week . Got the take out roast duck, BBQ pork box lunch, The tape they use to hold the lid on is impossible to break off by hand, waited in line at cashier for a knife or scissors, Took sign language to get point across, ok fine, next time came prepared with knife. 4th time they replaced the duck with chicken, nearly got faked out. Bye, never go back. Dont get it. Isnt steady money better than no money?
This is a very special 99 Ranch. Its a brand new location and it has the interior like a Western grocery store. It is very clean and has great prices on both produce and meats. Theres a seafood section that is not open yet but looks like will be open very soon. This will be my go-to location here on out.
I like this store that the fact theres never usually a long wait.Overall its clean and organized. They have plenty sauce selection. My biggest concern is the bakery department. I went in there the last few times recently and the young lady with long black hair wearing prescription glasses really didnt give me the right information. I dont think she should be in the bakery department if she doesnt like answering questions or if she doesnt like helping customers. I felt like she was being rude and I dont think she have any experience in customer service.I went in the store on Friday morning and I didnt see the pastries were out on displayed. At the time it was around 11:30 am. I asked her when itll be ready. She told me that it will be ready in 30 minutes. I was shopping with my son and I end doing some groceries while waiting for it. When 30 minutes has passed, I asked her if the pastries were yet and she said it will be ready in an hour. What she should have done was asked someone else who does the baking but instead she decided to guess the wait time when itll be ready. WHEN A CUSTOMER DECIDES TO WAIT FOR THE PASTRIES TO BE READY, YOU NEED TO BE LITERALLY CORRECT ON WHEN ITLL BE ACTUALLY READY, NOT JUST GUESSING WHEN ITLL BE READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This really upsets me because I wanted to get some pastries for a picnic but I end up leaving the store and I didnt even bother buying the groceries either.Another incident is today. I encountered a bad experience. This is also the same lady that helped me. She wasnt being courteous while assisting me. She gave me the impression that she didnt even care about the customers if they were being helped. This is the reason why I decided to write this incase someone else might encountered the same experience as I did. Also, she should know that if theres customer around either shopping or waiting, she shouldnt be talking about her personal life like school and what time shes clocking out for work. This is so bad and improfessional. I cant describe this any furthered with this same lady that worked there. I hope the store will hire another lady who has more in customer service skills. Someone who is polite and will provide the right information.
The price increases a little but they provides more space for frozen food compared to San Gabriel one The bread didnt look as nice and as fresh as San Gabriels one so thats why its buying to get one free. Its close to regal so living around here is really nice as you can enjoy so many good entertainment, restaurant and supermarkets
This market has a wide variety of meats, seafood, Chinese snacks, Staples, drinks, spices, dumplings, ramen, candy, and more. They also have a nice ramen counter, drink counter, ready to buy sushi and Asian favorites. Their weekly ad changes with new specials just for members. For example, spend $30, and get some promotional items for really cheap. Look in the inside of the advertisement.
The reason they earn 3 star is this location is less crowded, you dont have to wait in lines to pay. Its very clean and no those stanger smell like other old Ranch or Asian supermarket. I deducted 2 star because meat products over there is terrible! I bought beef, chicken and pork over there, all not fresh, all very smelly, dont even mention those special priced meet. Theres one time, I bought pork neck meat, I used heavy marinate try to cover the smell, but after I cooked, I tried one small piece, you can still taste the meat with kind rotten flavor. I wont buy any meat products over there. I cant believe a major Chinese supermarket like Ranch 99 will sell these kind of meat.
This Ranch 99 has a food court in the front of the market, but this review is just for the deli section. Id advise not coming here in the evening. We picked up two bento box meals, and the food was extremely stale. The bbq pork was actually hard and dried out, while the roast duck tasted off. While we were there close to 7:30pm, I noticed a crowd near the deli counter, where I heard one of the workers mention something about a buy one get one free deal. Id guess they were trying to clear out the remaining food in the display case before they closed. So they basically filled two flat containers of food for you, taped them both together, and slapped a $5.99 sticker on it. Possibly a good deal if you want a large quantity of food.
Great selection of fresh fish and other seafood.Theres a whole wall of kimchi varieties!Very reasonable prices for excellent quality.Spacious isles.Spotlessly clean store.AndroidPay and ApplePay capable registers.Might encounter some language barrier - easily overcome with a bit of patience.
Great bakery department, with awsome selection of chinese flavours. Good inventory of popular grocery items, not likely to run out. Seafood department is also well stocked. Fruits and vegetables are well stocked too. Nice tidy place for good grocery ahopping experience! They have a small hot food takeout section, and takeout sushi packs. If that doesnt work, there are specialty restaurants nearby in the same mall, or in easy walking distance.

2022-06-25My favorite 99 ranch location! There’s many location but I love this one the best. Plenty of parking, space is compact with everything I need. I especially like their meat selection and it’s always fresh. The veggies are so so.

2022-05-30Alhambra store. This is the 4th time I went to customer service for price correction in the recent months! It’s understandable when products are labeled with discounts and the system is not ready. But recently it happens on regular price items, too. That makes me doubt if the store is doing that on purpose. I believe customers won’t notice the little price difference on the receipt, even find out won’t go all the way back for couple of dollars. This kind of stealing could be a huge profit accumulated over hundreds of thousands of customers and over the years. The store is really not doing honest business. Also customer service staff is very rude. They are disrespectful and impatient. They don’t think it’s a big problem and why this customer is so serious about it for less than a dollar. One time one staff even threw my stuff away. If anyone see my reviews, do check your receipt before you leave the store and warn your families and friends!

2022-07-16If youre not Asian and walk into this store, theyll look at you and follow you around. They treat you very differently from their Asian customers.

2021-07-14REALLY clean store that doesn’t smack you in the face with fish and raw meat smells right when you walk in!The produce is mostly fresh. Mostly. I have seen kabocha and other items sitting there’s for way too long. But the cold produce that gets bought more frequently are def fresh and I’ve had no probs. The aisles are small and short but also tall. There’s pretty much everything you need from ramen, rice, tofu, to sauces. The meat area is in the back. It doesn’t smell funky and there’s lot of meat items that are pre-packed.Plus! There’s a Half & Half in the store! They sell drinks and snacks!

2022-01-24Had a lot of items that are out of stock. Even ripe bananas arr not available. Some of thr cooked pre packed white rice in 6 and 3 packs which are cheaper are not available. But one of their staff (Jose or Jesus) was very helpful. Even went at the back to look for ripe bananas for us.***Just our 2nd time in this branch and we are loving it. Always super clean from the floors to the shelves. Smells fresher than their other stores. The isles are bigger or at least looks bigger than the other 99 ranch stores so it doesnt feel crowded inside. Might be the floor plan. Its amply lit and well stocked. The staff are nicer too. Has a big parking lot. This is now our fave 99 ranch branch.

2022-02-19I was looking for a specific cut of beef (banana shank) for Taiwanese beef noodle soup and found it here. Choco pies, shrimp flavored peanuts and thousands of other delicious items. Enjoy!

2020-06-12This 99 ranch seems new because of the little foot traffic it receives. But i love the variety of Chinese foods and snacks, particularly the sauces and condiments. The large soy section is great for vegetarians. Fruit is reasonably priced. Organic foods are lacking though.

2018-02-26Nice and clean market. Bakery and cooked food is good. They carry a lot of Japanese grocery too.
