These guys were wonderful! So professional, knowledgeable and actually pretty friendly. All around great guys! Thanks to Jerry, the owner and the young guy with brown hair that helped me. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. 29 Ourdoor Gear, you have a new customer for life!
Great knowledgeable staff and friendly staff. Im a new gun owner so I need all the help I can get. They explained and helped me understand ammo and what I would be buying. I will be coming here for now on for my gun needs. Thanks guys Believe me service like this is hard to find so thank you so much and keep it up. ✊
I purchased a Glock BB gun at 29 Outdoor gear. The employees are excellent. They are very helpful and it was a pleasure doing business with them. Unfortunately I was only able to use the gun for a 3 day period before I lost it in a car fire but in the time I had it I loved it.
I ordered a handgun online and had it sent to here to the shop, I was dealing with Kyle for a long time who has moved out of state and was somewhat worried I wasn’t going to be taken care of as well anymore. How wrong I was!Brenden and Adham helped me with my paperwork and really made me feel like family. I was in and out with no issues whatsoever. Thanks again guys!
This place is great. They fully support gun ownership in California. They are one of the only places I know that will accept online ammo purchases and hold them for you as long as you pick it up relatively quick. Most FFLs will not accept online orders simply because they dont make as much money. This establishment cares more about your rights then making a profit. That means I will happily recommend and support them. Great gunsmith as well.
Everyone at the shop is very nice, and they are very family friendly and helpful. I honestly cant say enough about how well I was treated and how much of a friendly atmosphere there is in the store. I live about and hour and a half away, but was willing to make the trip in to get an F-1 Firearms lower. The experience was amazing and I would definitely go back again and I may just make the trip from now on because I cant say the experience is the same with my local shops.
The staff at 29 Outdoor Gear are very knowledgeable and friendly. I went there a few days ago to do an FFL transfer for a shotgun, fill out the paperwork, and get my FSC. I moved to CA from a state where gun laws are less restrictive. While I knew what to expect, I wasnt sure how long the whole process would take. They made sure that everything went smoothly and I was in and out much faster than I anticipated. And at $75, the FFL transfer fee was also significantly less than what some other dealers charge.I look forward to going back to pick up my firearm after my 10-day waiting period is over!
Guys made a PPT of two guns, was very knowledgable and professional. (and saved me 2 hours of my life by eliminating additional trip). Can compare to few dozens of other stores where I made a deals, this one is definitely one of the top in my experience.Thank you, you are the great
I went to Vallejo to visit my in laws then I came out and ended up to see and enter inside this boring gun store. I was amazed how (very)friendly the staff were. I bought some ammo despite the hard time of looking for my DROS record, they helped me with a smile on their face. I will definitely come back and recommend this store.
Ive been calling around looking for a specific item. The owner, Jerry, answered the phone and told me he didnt have it, but took the time to help look for it online. He also spent time talking with me about other things of interest. In these times, where these stores are super busy with people freaking out and panic-buying, it was a real pleasure to get the attention and help I received. Ive been in the store a couple of times and made purchases, and the staff as well are all great and helpful people. I highly recommend this establishment over Internet and traveling further out to make a purchase. Support local. These people deserve it.
Where do I start with the amount of gratitude and respect I have for the group of amazing people at 29 Outdoor Gear? As I am not local to the area I was recommended to them by a Gunsmith at a gun show, which to me was strange as the Gunsmith recommended them for Gunsmithing and was confident they were able to deal with my rifle issue. The moment I walked in the store, I was greeted by Jerry and Kyle and they went straight to work diagnosing a very rare rifle that I had been unable to get functional with the expertise of gunsmiths and collectors from Texas, Austria, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. Like others have said, you are made to feel very welcome and before I knew it Jerry, Kyle and Paul were all examining my rifle and considering it was an open bolt rifle that not many gunsmiths are familiar with, they were all confident they could get it working and for the first time, I was too. I left the rifle with them, but not before buying two more rifles to add to the list of reasons why my wife will eventually divorce me. The next day I had a message left informing me the rifle was working flawlessly as Kyle (Great customer service and GENIUS Gunsmith) took it as a personal challenge to get it working and he most certainly did and in doing so saved me a small fortune in having to source and purchase a rifle that only seen around 1500 units sold in the United States. The website makes a bold statement The best part is that we have the fastest turn-around amongst the few real gunsmiths found locally it just happens to be a fact - They did in a day what 7 others couldnt do in 9 months and at an amazing price. Overall my experience with 29 Outdoor Gear has been amazing and the question I put to a friend I recommended them to was When was the last time you walked out of Gun store remembering the name of every person that interacted with you? - a copy and paste of the review I made on yelp.
Small shop, but very kind employees and really reasonable prices. Only place Ive been to that offered to order something they didnt have in stock, and gladly took my name down to hold it/call me when it came in. Small details, but really made the experience. Transfer prices are extremely fair - none of this $100 nonsense you get in the Bay.
Just walked in to this store after lunch this Saturday (8/4/2018) to have my Remington 870 checked and fixed if possible. Paul the gunsmith was quick to dropped what he was doing and helped me. He made a quick diagnosis that my extractor needs replacing. He replaced it within 15 minutes and showed me my shotgun was functioning well there after. He charged me only $20.00 for both parts and labor!!!! This place is tops. I heartily recommend them to everyone.
Kept giving me the run around instead of putting an effort to help me. They wasted so much of my time and kept encouraging me to ask for a refund. So thats what I did after delay after delay. I wouldnt waste anytime going. They kept saying the owner is on his way and the owner never showed. The doj never denied or approved so what do that tell u.
This is an amazing shop. Great selection of new and used. The variable that makes this the best shop around is the service. From the owners to everyone one the floor you are treated with respect and patience. Couldn’t have had a better experience. Definitely worth the drive.
Possibly my favorite store. The gunsmith there is top notch and very helpful, funny, and knowledgeable. I went to pick up an ammo order there and a younger man helped me out, I didnt catch his name but he was professional and had fantastic customer service. He showed me a Browning Hi-Power that was used and at a price that I almost couldnt ignore, but Im not one to (often) impulse buy a high quality firearm...usually. No pressure, it was just a damn fine firearm. They were a little busy and acknowledged me and let me know it would be a minute - I was in no hurry so it was no big deal to look around a gun-store (like a kid in a candy store!) - but that little detail means a lot in this industry where surly help is the norm. Its not that overwhelming but lacking in knowledge obsequious experience youll get at many chain stores either. (Can I help you sir, sir, can I help you find anything, sir.. sirrrrrr..oh I dont know the answer). Its honest, old fashioned, good customer service.29 outdoor gear is filled with professionals who wont hesitate to tell you their opinion, but thats why I love it- they dont do it in a way that feels condescending or that they are doing you a favor.I am also a firm believer that if you use a service such as a package pick up or PPT at a gun shop, it is good etiquette to spend a little money so I got some more ammo (cant have too much of THAT), and the fella helped me pick out a few. Thanks!Ill certainly be back and I cannot recommend the place enough.
You guys OMG!!!You have to ask for Ryan when you go there!! He is soo cooool with his beard and knowledge of guns and gun safety. My mom and I were sold on the semis, but we decided on a revolver.. Super nice and easy. Ryan was sooo patient!!! he suggested we go to a range, test the gun of choice out, and if we like it, come back. The whole time I kept thinking.. Can we adopt or kidnap him to be in our family??

2022-08-10Rare, these post-Covid days, to encounter a business that places CUSTOMER SERVICE at the top of their business objectives. Such is the case with 29 Outdoor Gear! I had been searching for a particular Hornady Match rifle ammo. I finally found some at MidWay. But without a copy of your FFL’s license, they won’t ship to CA. I stopped by 29 Outdoor Gear to see if I could get a copy. Not so easy. But overhearing the conversation, Adam, the manager, offered to order the ammo for me directly to their store! SIMPLE, easy. His markup for doing this service was simply dirt cheap. Simply can’t recommend this firearms shop more highly! Gene Stangel

2018-01-01Excellent experience. Nice shop. I drove an hour from Sacramento to help support them due to their support of California law abiding citizens and the silly new ammo laws. I left with two old C&R rifles (well I DROSd them obviously couldnt leave with them because this is California). Tim was a huge help and patient. The rest of the staff was very outgoing and pleasant. Nobody minded that my dog came in and barked at the stuffed Hyena on the wall. They seem to enjoy their jobs and dealing with people. Nice change from many gun shops. They will be getting future business from me. I dont mind driving for a place thats willing to do the right thing.

2020-08-1129 outdoor gear has the best customer service around. Jerry, Kyle , Bryan , and Kassandra have been f@#king amazing, they are Super knowledgeable and masters at their craft! Paul the gunsmith did an a phenomenal job with with my barrel I had pinned and welded. I could not have been happier, They even stayed late after hours on a Friday so I could pick up my barrel on my way to Tahoe. I am more than happy to drive 45 minutes away to give them my business. They have a family atmosphere there that is hard to find anywhere these days! You should definitely keep them in mind for all your firearms needs!

2020-06-02Just finished purchasing another gun from 29 Outdoor Gear a few months ago. And again, I am pleased with the experience and customer service. The prices for firearms is comparable and even below others in the area. The store is small and they cannot stock everything. The first gun that I purchased, there was an issue with the exact model when it arrived at the store. They saw the mistake and took care of it with no problems. The staff is knowledgeable, patient and willing to answer any of my questions and explain any new regulation or firearm issue. And if they dont know the answer, they dont BS you, they will find the answer. They dont have the I know everything and you know nothing staff that I have encountered at other stores. They try to help and educate. I have purchased firearms from other stores over the years and was not pleased with the service. Glad to have a local business that I can count on for good customer service.

2021-05-25Very unprofessional. Kieth originally assisted with my purchase; incorrectly. I was able to use a fishing license to purchase but they wouldn’t allow and denied me to use it for pickup. After waiting 30+ days I just asked for a refund. Brent ended up taking 20% off my original total. Store didn’t have any cash. And not to mention, they say it’s a Ca law to provide a case and lock with your purchase but was going to be charged for that as well. They are over priced to begin with and will not be going back to support their “mom n pop” business.

2021-07-23Great experience with 29 Outdoor Gear! First experience was as a prospective customer asking a lot of questions, second when updating firearm safety certificate and purchasing my first rifle, then again as FFL for future builds. I will return for more!

2020-10-14Went into this shop about 4 times total. First time I took my weapons safety test there with no issue. Second Time I went in I brought an old Remington 12-A 22lr from 1919 to see if they could clean it up and figure out the missing parts for us and potentially order anything we needed to get it working, they declined to do help with that suggesting going online and buying parts there. Sure. Third time I went in I was looking for a pistol for my mother. The staff seemed helpful, however upon attempting to pick up the weapon we were denied. There was no issue with the DROS or back round checks. The issue was with the owner Jerry. On the pick up day we showed up early got a pager and waited in line to be helped. After waiting over an hour I inquired how much longer the wait would be. We watched them help multiple other customers but just wouldnt give us the time of day. Shortly after my question about how much longer the wait would be we were asked to leave because we were standing outside in the shade something all the other people waiting were doing. The owner Jerry returned my ID but DID NOT REFUND THE PRICE OF THE WEAPON forcing us to seek a refund through the credit card company. Frankly there are better shops in the area. Spend your time and money on a group that can at least handle the basics of customer service.

2020-06-07As a first time customer/new gun owner this shop has exceeded my expectations. Being greeted by Brian (?) at the door, even though they were busy, meant a lot. Paul said he would bling out my G21 and he sure did, beyond what I could have asked for. All for a reasonable price! I will definitely be doing business here in the future.29 Outdoor gear - Best customer service experience I’ve had in a minute.

2020-07-03Great selection and very knowledgeable staff. The resident gun smith is the best in the industry. Want something weird or custom come here. Want great training from first class instructors? You definitely need to be here Thanks to Kyle, Paul, Jerry, April, Kassandra and Steve for all that you guys do!
