Great outdoor space. Great staff. Only negative thing is their employees arent enforcing the wiping down of equipment. Enough wipes and disinfectant available but guests not using. Id say about 50% are cleaning after use. Come on guys. Why do you need to be reminded. 😀
I just moved to San Diego from Poway. Its about 18 miles away. I live .03 Miles from the 24 hour fitness in Mission Valley. So I downloaded my 24 hour fitness 3 day pass. So I take a pre work out supplement called C4 and show up. I was denied entry by the front desk guy because my drivers license says Poway CA. 92064. Which is a part of San Diego county. He says its just for San Diego locals. But he is ready to sell me a 1 day pass for 15.00. earlier the same day I did a tour with the assistant general manager and had a meeting lined up for a personal trainer..... As you may guess we can kiss that idea good bye.
Went online to sign up for the free 3 day trial. Received a phone call the following day by a representative to invite me into location to redeem the 3 day free trial. However when I went in, The gym rep said they could not honor 3 day trial even though a different representative called me the day prior to invite me to location due to COVID restrictions. Seems like a scam to try and get new customers in so they can sell them a membership. A simple call stating they COULD NOT honor the free trial wouldve saved everyone the hassle prior to driving to the location to be told no.
Great location, bad gym. They barely fix broken equipment. They are always out of paper towels no matter how many staff members are standing around doing nothing. Their automated “friendly reminder for staff to clean up” message on the speakers is a joke. They don’t even move an inch. I just leave equipment sweaty now because their aren’t any paper towels to wipe down. Pure lazy staff. Some have huge attitude problems too like Marcus. Someone needs to be managing this place better. San Diego needs new options for gyms. This place is a joke. As a female, you never feel comfortable with the creepers everywhere either.
Solid gym. I’ve been here a few times and the atmosphere is real quiet. Not too many people throwing weight around like gyms of been to in the past. I wish the equipment was a bit newer though, that’s the only downside. This is still a great gym to go to. They have everything that you need in order to get a great workout in.
I like this gyms location, it carries a raw, unscripted energy. Most of the other locations are laid out with to where I feel like Im parading about the facility. I wouldve given it a higher score, but it gets a bit busy to where I cannot access everything during my workout and all the free-weight equipment seems too closely packed together.
Gym is poorly maintained and many of the strength machines are dirty, weights not racked properly, and belts are old and get stuck. Staff is pretty nice. Be careful of any agreements you sign. I signed up for a $30 a month promotion last year, and it suddenly became $35 with a 75$ annual fee and a 12 month contract that was marketed as not being a contract. I was bamboozled, but thats my fault. Just be careful and thorough
Just moved to the area checking out gyms. Even though this is the closest 24hr to my house I will not be going here. The lighting is terrible. Dim and dark, makes me feel tored not energized. The layout of the equipment makes no sense. Put machines for the same body parts close togethsr, dont make me walk across the gym every time. Front desk staff was nice, but they lady in charge of sales was rude. Told her we were new to the area and checking out different gyms. She asked where else we were going and her only response was they are expensive. Didnt tell me I could put the day fee towards my membership like other locations did.
I started at this gym and have been going to different gym and going back to this gym. The trainers are family oriented and welcomes all their members unless the members are duchess bags. The manager is a good man who welcomes you as you walk in the gym and actually given me a handshake or a hi 5 the times I go to this gym. Im a gym type person where I understand their isnt a perfect gym however the staff are better then most staff in other gyms. Parking is a hassle but that happens when a gym is in a mall. Its and express gym meaning you dont spend all day in their. You go,workout, and leave to work or wherever you need to be after 1.5 hrs in the gym. Thats a full session with no wasting time. Larger gym you spend more time there like 2-4 hrs easy. Overall I like this gym for the purpose it givrs.
I don’t understand why there are so many complaints about this gym! It’s a gym; it has treadmills, ellipticals, TRX training, ropes, and all the machines and weights you’d hope to find in a gym. Regardless of whether or not machines are new or old, you can still work out here for an hour or two and be satisfied with the outcome! It should be the effort you put into your workout that determines the outcome, don’t blame the gym! With that said, it would be appreciated if people would consistently wipe down their machines after use! Sweat, although minimal at times, does linger on a machine if not wiped down! Thanks
Ive been searching for a kickboxing class in the area forever since moving to SD. Im used to the standard of the 24 super sport and LA Fitness kickboxing in LA. These are intense boot camp style w great instructors. This gym the kickboxing class here starts off with you will get lost. As you go on its because she doesnt demonstrate, or even do the moves as she shouts them. Forcing you to follow person in front of you who kind of knows what they are doing. I was incredibly disappointed w her poor method of teaching. I am ok if the moves are challenging however there should be build up I would think not just random jumping around. You cant assume everyone knows your routine and its sad its the same routine anyway last every week. Oh well I will keep looking.
Super small, always crowded. Entrance is in the mall and theres usually a lot of available parking. Its tough to get a machine after 5:00pm. Ive never taken a class here, but the rooms are so tiny I imagine it gets pretty warm in there quickly. They really need to expand, especially considering the population in MV.
Well, recent ive been discussing signing up for a new gym and Ive been a member at 24 hour fitness thoughout the years. But this experience has left me not wanting to sign up with them. A man named Daylon did not allow me to walk in and use the restroom unless I was a member he was so rude, it was slow inside, I had my son with me and I literitly was about to pee my pants and he would not let me use the restroom. Thanks Daylon or Daylin your rude behavior to new clients just made me decide not to sign up with 24 hour fitness. Try a different approach to win clients!
The weight lifting equipment is dated and often in disrepair. Things like having missing bar cushions for leg squat equipment requires corporate approval and takes months to replace. One of the main floor drinking fountain was broken for nearly a year. I go to this location mainly because its convenient. But when I have the time I go to another location like Balboa.
I go to this gym for Zumba classes with David. It is an amazing workout. The gym needs an update BUT what it lacks in modernization, it more than makes up for in customer service. I had a problem with my reservation for Zumba and Denver took care of me right away. The people are friendly and there is always adequate parking even though it is in the mall. Check out Davids Zumba class...get there early. Thurs and Saturdays.
I have been coming to this specific facility for over 2 years, and for the last several months, the gym has been kept extremely warm. At first, I thought they just werent wanting to turn on the A/C. Then I was speaking with a personal trainer back in July and she told me the A/C was in fact broken! I went out of town for a couple months, came back, and either the A/C is still not working or theyre deciding to keep the gym at a higher temperature. Its HOT. Its to the point where I a pretty difficult time completing my regular cardio workout, and Im consistently beet red in the face. Being almost 100 degrees yesterday, I opted to drive 20 minutes to the UTC 24 Hour Fitness. The gym was much cooler. I did my normal cardio routine, didnt struggle to finish and no tomato face. Im aware that being a tad warmer is better for the muscles, but not to the point where I have to lower the intensity of my workouts. I gave two stars instead of one because they recently got new cardio machines and the employees are pleasant for the most part.
The Group X room has only one fan again and the air can not be controlled. Every time the fan goes missing, and it has before, nobody responds to complaints. The staff says that they will pass it on, but nothing happens. Point Loma has 5 fans in their room. We actually need more than 2. Their customer service sucks.

2022-05-07While working out here is entirely possible this is one of the least fun gyms I have ever been to. it has all the charms of a manufacturing plant. a huge, windowless, featureless hall with millions(albeit clean and functional) machines lovelessy stacked together too close for comfort. went there on a Saturday morning around 11 and it was way too busy for my taste. day pass cost me 15 USD.

2021-06-10Fully open indoors, just like it used to be. Not my favorite location but good enough for good training and a consistent fitness routine. Current hours are5 a.m. - 9 p.m.- sharp!Located at Mission Valley mall and easy to access from the parking structure. Face coverings are required despite CDC loosening restrictions. If you really appreciate well made training brands this location has a few, like Hammer Strength, (2) Eleiko squat platforms with a total of 4 different brand squat machines, Nautilus Pro, Life Fitness, with iron grip brand plates, and although Hoist is not dominating here the alternative choice at this location is Cybex. There are plenty of machines, free weights, dumbbells, bench presses, cardio equipment and cool vibe employees. No kids club and showering facilities are subpar. If you can wait to take a shower until you get home that would be my recommendation. What I particularly like about this location is that the folks that work out here are respectful of other peoples time. So folks dont spend all day texting and talking on the phone while youre waiting for a machine not loud gawking and grunting.Have a good workout and clean up your plates.

2022-06-20I tried this location for the first time today to see what it was like and the Guy at front desk was not friendly and didnt seem interested in creating a connection through customer service. Its unfortunate because many people choose to go to gyms where the front desk people are professional and give quality communication.

2022-05-01I will never understand how difficult it is to turn on the fans in this place. I literally have to ask every single day for the employees to turn them on. Were in southern California. In a gym. With 50 sweaty other people. Getting motivated to exercise is difficult enough.

2022-05-30I really like this gym. My only complaint is the lack of no glute machines. Due to that reason, I deducted 2 stars. Please add glute machines soon!

2021-05-28This gym is in severe disrepair; missing tile, broken and rotted drywall, burned out lights, missing light bulbs.I would let that slide but to top that off its also dirty; trash all over the locker rooms, used q tips, soiled paper towels, a ring of grime on the walls of the baseboards, even the entry to the gym was dirty with sheetrock dust. Also this was not at a peak time, they were not particularly busy.

2022-06-18I like the gym itself. It has most everything I need. Unfortunately the gym is so crowded when I come that it makes me question if coming is even worth it. I bought the year long membership though; so if youre looking for a gym, please look further. Haha!

2022-01-10I almost wasn’t able to work out at all because I had an out of state drivers license despite paying rent here. (Not sure why my address matters to workout) The girl at the front desk also said they had to keep my license while I worked out. Right off the bat I had a bad feeling. The gym it’s self is small, dark and outdated. Honestly, it is the worst gym I have ever been to and a complete rip off for 40 bucks a month! Not sure I would even want to go back for a bargain.

2022-02-02I have been a member of 24 hr for over a decade. Going to the closest 2 locations for over a year now since Hillcrest closed. I attend the Balboa and this Mission Valley location. Im glad the mall one stayed open as its the closest one to my home. The clubs Sales and Service manager, Jorge Paredes, is one of the most friendly, caring, knowledgeable hard worker at 24 hr. He takes the time to talk to the guests working out in the gym, which at the other gyms I have never seen in a manager. He takes pride in his job, cleaning all areas even in the bathrooms. I would talk to him and thank him for caring about his club. I give him 10 + Gold Stars. He is an amazing worker, and I enjoy seeing him at Mission Valley each time I work out. I m glad 24 hr has him there. Thanks for that. He takes the time to say hello and talk to you no matter if he is busy or not. Great manager Jorge is. Keep up the great job. Total asset to the Mission Valley gym. We need him at all the 24 hr locations. Thanks Jorge 🤗

2022-03-15Unprofessional and uneducated staff! Especially managers! They are so rude and don’t know how to talk with customer! They are scammer and charging extra without informing! I brought there two of my friends to join membership but the manager doesn’t want to take the application! It was so rude and weird!
