I was supposed to meet someone for drinks at the bar but plans changed and they didnt show up. The bartender Mike and his sweet co-worker went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with the man who approached me at the bar and to make sure I made it to my car safely. Thank you for the great conversation and for being observant.
This place used to have what I think was one of the BEST salads in the area (black and bleu with blackened chicken), BUT recently took it off the menu when they apparently got a new chef. So disappointed!!! We would happily drive from Redding anytime for it. Hope they bring it back!!!The food since has been very mediocre so we probably wont return again.Other than that, servers have always been very nice and good atmosphere.
The food has never been bad. The staff is polite.Service is slow. Like real slow. They are commonly out of items on the menu. And the wait staff is never aware of it until 10 min after you order. You order garlic fries you get plain friesA friend ordered pancake with strawberries and cream. He received cream cheese.... 😂 it just seams like the staff is not well trained and the kitchen looks s good understaffed.
Went to this place 4 times in the last 2 weeks out of convenience and havent been Impressed yet. The service was good, the Management was Good, but the food could be considered a form of torture. The first 3 times I went there I had been told some of the things I tried to order from the menu werent available, They gave me club sodas in cups when I had asked for Cans of ginger ale which they said they didnt have until I brought the club soda to their attention then was given cans of ginger ale from a different member of staff, They charred a medium rare and flavorless Steak(I was too tired and hungry to complain about it at that time), another time I had called in to order a dessert and it was poorly thrown together and tasted absolutely terrible. Today I had asked for Medium Rare prime rib, and when it came out it was just under Well Done. I mentioned something to the waitress and she agreed, so she took it back to try to make it right. When she came back it was Medium and mentioned that what came out before the cook had said it was Medium Rare to their standards. I then asked if I could get it Rare, and they said that they cant do the Smoked Prime Rib rare. Seriously?! They did offer me the option for a free dessert or a round of drinks... :(... ok... This place obviously needs some help in the kitchen seeing as the Drinks were the most enjoyable thing on the menu. If youre reading this and know what Medium Rare looks like, they might just hire you to be their new kitchen talent... and it would certainly be an improvement.
We had a fabulous waiter! He was so on things. The food was good. We just had the burger and it was good. The sweet potato fries were delicious. The room we were seated in had flies pretty bad. But I understand things happen. Pribably wont be in a hurry to go back.So sorry.
I visited the Woodside after a very emotionally difficult day. I was exhausted, hungry, and incapable of making a decent decision. The hostess let me know the restaurant was out of fish and chips, then seated me graciously at a table set apart from the rest where I could stare at my phone and avoid interaction with emotionally healthy people. My waitress (I wish I could remember her name!) was kind, attentive, and sweet. I told her I would order the hamburger meal. She asked how I wanted it. Ive had a very hard day, I confessed. Why dont you order it the way you would want it and Ill trust your judgment? She immediately agreed and left me to my wounds. When she returned in a timely manner with my plate, she placed before me one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. It was huge, with bacon, avocado, and a fried egg inside a hearty bun with all the appropriate condiments. Outstanding. If a meal in a restaurant could be served with a side of empathy and a dusting of good cheer, this was it. And I could not find an error on the plate. The portions were large; everything was done; the presentation was inviting; the ingredients were all well balanced, and the only problem was the difficulty I found in taking bites from such a large hamburger. Kudos to all the staff at the Woodside for an evening meal that--for a time--took my mind off personal troubles and filled it with a memorable meal and the worries of how to burn off the abundance of calories I was glad to take in. I expect I will be back someday.
Decision to go out for a later dinner ( its 8 pm when we decided to go out. ) we get to the parking lot walk up to what we believe is the front door, so we find the door a couple of minutes later we go inside. They greet us ask us how many to look down at a clock and said sorry we stop seating at 8:45 so of course I pull out my phone to see it is ONLY 8:47. So I say maam its only 2 minutes? That means we cant get a table? My girlfriend mentioned that all we were looking for was appetizers. A couple of minutes later we were seated, and basically forgotten about, was only asked if we wanted appetizers, and drinks.Ive heard really good things about this place. The meat and cheese board was good.
The food is amazing! You get quality food that is just cooked perfectly, and still really good sized portions. We had dinner and breakfast here and floored both times. Plenty of left overs to snack on for at least a day. The staff was stunning, attentive, and really fun to interact with! From our bartender to our two servers we had and even the hostess, they were so friendly and relaxed. Everyone seemed happy to be here. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Can come dressed up or comfy and feel totally fine. We will definitely come here again.
I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken for pick up. I was staying next door at the Gaia hotel. After waiting 35 minutes for a call, I walked over. The doors were locked, but the hostess let me in for a to go order. Neither she or the waitress could find my order. I was asked 3 times if I ordered fries too. 15 minutes later I received my order. Oh, without dressing,, it took another 10 minutes for the server to get it from the chef. I asked for salt & pepper & was told it was in the bag, it was not included. I took it back to my room & opened it to find 4 anchovies on top with maybe 3-4 oz of chicken. The chicken was so over cooked, my plastic fork while stabbing it to cut it!Terrible service and food!
Do say the chef needs some lessons. Bad nite ?? Very over cooked salmon. Very poor cottage pie like left overs in a pan covered in cheese and over cooked broccoli laid on top. Cottage pie from where ?? And actually dry over salted and cooked fries with a steak well on top. Served with ketchup. Really. ??? The fare was several hundred dollars. Nice service and drinks. But really. !!! What are these people thinking??
My sisters and I stay at the Gaia hotel every three weeks to visit our father at the veterans home. This is how we came across the hotel and restaurant Breakfast is always wonderful and we have tryed many restaurants in the area over the last 3.5 years and have found both in quality and price Woodside grill is the best.
Went last night with a group of 8. We had a reservation and specifically asked for their fish and chips and were told it was no problem. We had gone the week before and they were out of them. When we got there, they had one fish and chips, no pasta dish, no salmon, and only 2 hamburgers. They only have about 8 entrees so bacically they had almost nothing. Our server Angela was fabulous, she did everything she could including calling the supervisors of the restaurant who wouldn’t answer their phones. What could she do when they had no food? They need major help with their organization and if you’re a restaurant you should have food, right?
It was a wonderful experience here at the Woodside Grill attached to the Gaia Hotel. I came here the first night and ordered the Apricot Chicken. Beautiful plate. Definitely looked like a piece of art! Even came back the next night and both plates were to die for! Highly recommended if you are interested in enjoying some great food with a decent portion size, relaxing with a nice breeze, semi secluded, and great customer service! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back!
Lady that works there very nice person for the price which doesnt matter very often but its what got me to eat there. The way it is decorated inside and out is an attention graber bc of how nice it is and the price seem to think they qualify as a 4 or 5 star restaurant and run with the big dogs when in fact Ive had better frozen TV dinners and they couldnt run with a Jack in the Box let alone a 4 or 5 star real restaurant!!!!
Had lunch today for my birthday. Everything we ordered was incredibly yummy. My daughter and I had the vegan burger with sweet potato fries. My sister had the two fish tacos and my daughter shared an enormous foccasia club sandwich. They brought a complimentary piece of fudge birthday cake. Everything was wonderful.
I had the avocado smash. It was meh. The avocado didnt have much flavor and the flatbread stuff was pasty and tasteless. I would have rather had it on some yummy sourdough or artisan toast. The others had the basic 2 egg breakfast with hash browns, toast and sausage or bacon (1 had bacon, the other had sausage) and they liked it. The hash browns were delicious and browned nicely
I truly wish I had a better review 😪 but to be honest 6 of us went for my bday dinner and it was not all the hype first off half the menu was not available (which I understand due to shortage) but no salad no bread nothing really as well as we just didnt get the service im used too I mean I can get better service at Dennys and we went early all in all it was probably not a place I would go again or maybe I will try breakfast and see 😢
Went on a date here and we both ordered specials the duck breast, and halibut. Service here was about as professional as it gets. Our waitress knew when to check on us and when to let us talk, I really cant say how much that makes a difference. Food was excellent really cool how on the menu it shows what farms they source from. Also about the atmosphere here the seating area is kinda small so I assume it would fill up quickly there was a band there playing smooth jazz.Guys take your girl here.
Have been several times and have had great meals every time.Very nice clean restaurant with friendly staff .Look forward to having another great Rib eye soon .Anderson is lucky to have what I consider not just another name brand restaurant and to have Woodside. The Thai nachos are amazing too .
Thought this would be a good place from some reviews. Only two other tables during lunch time filled. Service was atrocious. One person found multiple hairs found in food. Sent back to the kitchen and did not reorder. Not charged for the entree but bull still showed avocado that was added to it. Took off bill after asked to. Sever seemed frustrated at us and not trying to save business. Having family who have worked service, I still tipped despite everything. Won’t be back and do not recommend.
We loved dinner so much we came back for breakfast.Dinner had actual live music. Two guys playing nice dinner music. The fish and chips were HUGE and delicious. The atmosphere was great and the hostess was a sweetie and professional.Breakfast was deliciousThe hostess was not as great, but good willed.I would highly recommendIf we werent so stuffed we may have looked into massages as well. What a great gem we found!
Hard review to write. Breakfast was excellent great food with attentive service. Dinner was just ok. Chicken was delicious, duck was overcooked and tough. Service was indifferent, slow and inattentive. Did not feel welcoming at all. Maybe an off night or maybe the breakfast staff should be training the dinner staff. Willing to try again but no third chances at these prices.
Got here at 11:20 and it is now noon and were still waiting on food. our waitress has said nothing. people that came in after us were brought the same order that we got. I would not recommend.Tried to get the waitresses attention 3x in the last 15 mins so we walked out. Was supposed to be a birthday lunch for my husband but I have to pick my kid up by 1. I cant wait here for 2 hours for you to figure it outThe really sad thing is we were the only ones there besides another table of 2 having a meeting. The group of 3 came 20 mins after us and ordered 2 bowls and banh mi and got their food within 20 mins while we sat waiting with no one even telling us why it was taking so long.
On my 1st visit here I found the grill atmosphere to be clean and welcoming. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, one of my favorites. The meat was tasty but so chewy and tough I could hardly bite it without the whole piece of meat coming out from between the slices of bread. I think the meat was improperly butchered by being cut on the wrong angle and too thick. The slices resembled thick cut bacon. I wouldnt order this item here again.
Two times I have been at a training at the Gaia and went there for lunch. Each time the restaurant was unable to provide the food under an hour despite not having a full restaurant. When I did get the food it was good. I did complain the second time which they offered to refund the cost but the refund never came. It seems they do better with dinner service. Best advice I could give it to to lunch somewhere else.
Breakfast was great. Attentive prompt service food was great. Dinner the night before was a different matter. Slow almost indifferent service. Wait staff standing around doing nothing while other staff were scrambling. One dish, the chicken was very good, the duck was tough overcooked and no steak knife to cut it. The dinner staff could learn a lot from the breakfast staff.
The food was good. However I sat at the bar and the bartender essentially ignored me through the night looked rude and grumpy. While it was a busier night it didnt start off that way the second bartender came in who was more pleasant but I wasnt offered bread salad or anything else and had to wave down the bartender when there was nobody at the bar to get help. Obviously miss the idea that people are there for the service not just the cooking. Wish the star rating could be more broke down rather than just overall food probably 3.5 Stars service at night 1.5
And that is being nice. The waiter almost tripped over me, and it still took 15-20 minutes to get service. And I spent $17.00 on a salad expecting it to be something special. It was missing half the ingredients, and a 7-year-old could have done a better job! I had 1 hour and 15 minutes for lunch before returning to a training session right outsid the door - and I had to take my food to go when it still wasnt ready 10 minutes before I was supposed to be back.
We took my friend from out of state here for dinner & not only was the service fast and efficient, but the drinks were tasty and the meal was incredible. I wasnt very hungry so I ordered the burger and still ended up taking half of it home. Great food & service in a nice atmosphere, what else could you ask for? I go there often.
Service was pretty bad. Took over a minute for anyone standing in the restaurant to acknowledge we walked in the door. Waitress was short and rude. I asked if my childrens orange juice had a refill, she yelled across the room that it would be too expensive to give refills on juice. All I wanted to know was if I needed to get them waters or not. :| Food was decent.
This is an upscale restaurant located in the Gaia Spa and resort. It has banquet capabilities, and a small ( 20+ table) seating area with a bar area that can seat 10+. The food choices are varied, but limited. During my stay I ordered boneless ribeye, meatloaf, and the Anderson eggs Benedict for breakfast. We also ate our Thanksgiving meal there buffet-style. Food is good. Staff was very helpful. Sara was especially welcoming and helpful. Prices are reasonable to the food and atmosphere.
Pro:Got the Bone in Rib Eye 20 oz. Which was very good. Fingerling potatoes were good as well as the Asparagus. I have had this over the last 2 years probably 4 or 5 times, and it is 50/50, either great like last night or, disappointing.Desserts spot on all the timeCons:The Menu really never changes, and the Appetizers are boring and bland.
High turnover continues to afflict a spot that should be expected to deliver high quality service and food. Yet another new manager seems hopeful of turning it around, but redecorating can hardly be expected to solve whatever the underlying discouragement seem to be. Potential eventually passes you by if not actualized in the industrys basic stock in trade: either great food or great service, preferably both, but at least one in order to leave a positive impression.
I went here for breakfast on sunday. I really wanted biscuits and gravy. I was told they were out of biscuits and I would have to order something else. I then reluctantly settled on the lassen stack sandwich. I was then informed they were out of the texas toast. I ended up leaving without eating. I have reached out to the restaurant via facebook messenger. They read my message but didnt respond. Not even an Im sorry for the inconvenience.
Great food, great service! Thats what anyone wants to hear when picking a restaurant. Woodside Grills food is top notch and always prepared in a timely fashion. The hotel service is polite and genuine and has a very patient staff that always has a smile on their faces. Most definitely a place Ill be taking my family to again. Thank you!
Not a bad place but wouldnt be my first choice. The prices are a little high for what you get. I got some French toast which was delicious flavor-wise but was a little to crispy and seemed overcooked since it was hard to cut through. Also the coffee was pretty generic (trucker coffee) considering it was $3.
I went at 4pm, obviously between shifts. I was going to give this place 2 stars. The service was awkward and bad and the food wasnt good. It gets one star because as Im trying to pay my bill I hear one waitress tell another how the kitchen says there is no soup today, because it has gone bad.You mean the too thick, dried basil soup I just ordered and ate? Great. There is no happy hour, despite what the hotel says.
Service was good and they were friendly. The French dip was not good... at all. We were told they were closing for an employee meeting at 230 so we were asked to finish lunch up by 210. Im not sure if this is a regular occurrence, but I cant imagine it being great for business.
I have given this restaurant so many chances to redeem themselves from the terrible service. Today for example, two servers and two tables. One table per server. My husband and I walk in and are immediately warmly greeted by a hostess and we sit for 10 minutes waiting for one of the servers to make eye contact or maybe take our order. We watch them visit with their table and walk around. Finally a worker behind the bar points us out a few minutes later one of the servers walks over. Feeling a bit invisible. After making order food comes quickly and looks delicious.
My husband has esophagus cancer. Therefore hes having real problems with eating. Actually getting the food down. I previously had lunches with some of my Firewives . They where always amazing. So I ran in and ordered the soup and they even blended it up for him to drink it. Thank you so much for helping us!!
A hidden jewel in Anderson, Ca. 10 seconds off Riverside Dr. for weary travelers and locals alike. For a small place it is professionally dressed. The service is noticeably excellent! From the hostess to the waitress. Top-notched service. Our crazy and under-dressed family was greeted to a treat of a chipotle-chocolate dipped bacon! just spicy enough but the kids couldnt stop eating it! The salad was unique and delicious! There are several food choices, not an overwhelming # but each so good that the decision on prime rib was made only because they have it limited to Fri and Sat. What a great decision! The Au Jus was the best ever. The meat cooked perfect and the sides awesome. My wifes Kobe beef meatloaf was enough to feed an army! I peeked at someones fish and chips and was drooling. The beer can chicken will be next. I dont know of any local restaurant that has that! The multicolored and perfectly cooked veggies were a treat (but a bit salty).I highly recommend that you try this place. Youll be back again and I really want local places like this to continue to thrive. Finally, their mothers day brunch is excellent and very affordable. This past Mothers Day was the 1st spent w my mom in over 15 years! Great job Woodside grill and Gaia Hotel!
Not your typical chain-restaurant food place, located in Anderson, CA. The food and atmosphere are nice and stand in great contrast to the madness of the Interstate Highway traffic. A good place to stop for dinner; however, you will need that extra cash in your wallet to pay the bill.
Just tried to get breakfast here. It wasnt very busy, We were given a sit right away. Beyond that no service at all. After about 10mins a couple other group cam in and they were sat next to us. They were given menus and coffee right away. After another 10 mins went by still no coffee or menus. So we just walked out... Ill never eat here again even if Im staying at the gaia resort..
They told my girlfriend and I that we would have to wait at least 10 minutes for a seat and we could wait in the hallway. There were multiple empty tables, which we were told were not wait list tables. We were spoken to as if we were children or worse. Dont bother trying to get a table here if your party isnt old and white.

2022-05-16Started with the Thai nachos, Good and different then ordered the Burger it was solid. House pickles on burger are more on the sweet side chipotle sauce gave it a kick and the fries were plentiful and crispy. Paired this with an old fashion that was sweet and strong. Wife got the ribs and they were tasty. $85 for the app 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Staff was friendly but ready to go home half hour before they closed.

2021-10-25Stayed in the Gaia hotel for a night. Came to Woodside Grill for lunch and dinner. For lunch-orsered fish and chips and It was disgusting. The food was swimming in oil. The fish was covered with a thick layer of butter.Because there are no other food areas nearby, I had to ce for dinner also here. Ordered salad with chicken and Flatbread. Again -everything tastes disgusting. I wonder if the chef ever tries her own food.Ordered the salad with the chicken-the chicken wasnt cooked well. The Flatbread had too much balsamic vinegar over prosciutto-and that made the taste salty acidic.

2022-06-29Good wait staff. Good food. The place was packed and at first it seemed like we wouldnt be seated because we didnt have a reservation. However, they made a two person table work for our party of 3. We had fun sharing jokes with the wait staff and had an all around enjoyable experience.

2022-06-24We werent in for a big meal so we chose to share a couple of appetizers to accompany our drinks and they sure didnt disappoint! Everything was delicious and very filling. They were down a cook and couple of waitstaff (seems its the way things are sadly with nobody wanting to work) but they did just fine even though they were short people on Fathers day.

2022-06-12The Woodside Burger was amazing. The fries that I recieved werent very greasy which was great. The Brownie dessert was superb and big enough to be shared. Our server was fantastic and gave us a pitcher of Shirley Temple along with the three we ordered.

2022-05-14Good food and great service. They were super accommodating even when more people from a class I attended kept coming in and adding to our table. They were able to split checks for a party of 6+. The servers were very attentive.
