Nice area and cave but unfortunately it is significantly marked with graffiti and littered with garbage. The trail to the cave is short but is very steep in places so watch your step. To reach the cave you have to keep going left on the trail until you see the small ravine that leads up to the it.
Very nice steepish but short hike to cave made of decomposing granite. tucked into a quiet neighborhood in The West San Fernando Valley. Went mid-week and we almost had the place to ourselves, but I would assume it can get crowded on weekends. Bonus here is that In-N-Out is not too far away!
It was a nice little hike didnt expect to see everything i saw crazy how something so close and small had so many beautifull things to look at ,Caves are awesome would recommend it if you like small hikes.it seems people have hard time finding caves as you hike up like 15 min into hike go left and will take you to caves the trail splits in two!!!!!

2021-12-07The caves are so beautiful. Follow the graffiti to the caves. GPS is advised since the trail has multiple ways to go with no signs. Caves located not too far from road. Free parking on between specific hours. Caves are between the trees. Plenty of other trails close by for mountain biking as well.

2022-03-25This is such a cool cave that is only about 0.5 miles from Vanalden Ave. The trail is uphill to access the cave but relatively easy for moderate hikers. The cave is larger than I expected and you can walk on top of it, but be careful because there are a few holes in the roof that fall straight into the cave. Very fun and easy hike to explore a cave in the area!

2021-11-20Went there on a Saturday expecting to see a lot of people on the trail but there was barely anyone. Short and easy hike to get to the caves. Great spot for kids to have fun! Yeah and we bought the guinea pigs with us!

2021-04-18Just a quick 10 minute hike from the end of Vanalden Ave. (follow the tiki torch markers, lol), this sandstone cave is actually quite beautiful if you can look past all the graffiti. If you want a longer (2.7 mile round trip) hike, come in from the end of Reseda Boulevard. On weekends the cave and trails to it get quite crowded, and invariably jerks leave trash. Do a good deed and bring a little grocery bag with you and pick up trash on the way out and stuff it in the trash cans at the trailheads. If everyone did that, this place would be spotless.

2020-09-14First time to take this trail to Vanalden cave, we park on the Top Of Reseda Trailhead parking, we arrive at 5:45 am , we seen some others cars parking before the last stop but we not sure way no one park at the end of the parking spot. We take the trail most faster to the caves in case we get lost we just use the JPS and we walk for about 40 minutes until we found the cave it was easy. The cave looks ugly with all graffiti, what wrong with this people destroy and ruined all this places.

2020-07-31It is a rough trail which I enjoyed. Lots of overgrown brush. The caves are nice and some small side cliffs for climbing. Very unique. Worth the trip

2021-01-05The Hike is awesome in the wilderness. It is tough to find without any marking or direction. Google maps is the best option to reach there.Hike will be difficult during rainy season.Hike is preferably for adults and grownup kids.

2020-03-11Little bit hard to find, especially since GPS goes a little nuts there, and SO MUCH poison oak along the path (do take care!), But kinda neat once you find it. Bigger than I expected. Sadly a lot of graffiti and trash around the area...
