Besides the obvious mental challenges that bring some people to a shelter I can honestly say I had a positive experience and was housed after my 90 days was up. The food is amazing and the vibe is a very relaxed and warm.

Found me housing quickly and thats all they were there for. Nothing else really. I ended on a very bad note. Mostly my fault. A nervous breakdown because of a fight I got into with my roommate which a staff member saw and absolutely nothing was done about it. Nothing. I had to sleep in the same room with this thing and I was dealing with internal and external factors that led up to this breakdown and they say this is a mental health place that is supposed to help clients but everything these employees did was beyond counterproductive. Im speechless. Im appalled that they refused to helped my stay here after a physical altercation. They lost 3 of my packages that said they were delivered. So 2 stars. Thanks to the case worker who found my now new home. No one else.

24 hour restroom and showers, always security, always clean and very polite staff.just knock at the door and let the security guard know what service you will be needed.

If youve embarrassingly find yourself having to stay in a group setting it is the best of the shelters. However the most of the staff have a non caring judgmental attitude. Its not a drug program so often times people might be under the influence, be it drugs or alcohol. In my case a violent drunk roams around the facility offending peoples space and peace of mind, i actually had to defend myself not once but 3 times, resulting in a fracrured toe, cracked rib and jammed finger. Why they didnt kick him out the first time is the big question. But i look forward to seeing them in Court. Also they havent taken the virus seriously. Do yourself a favor and dont ens up in skid row. -5 stars.

I feel like the staff brought me here under false pretenses with the expectation of helping me get housed. Now that Im here the staff has told me they cant help me and I will have to leave after 90 days. I am being set up to live in a tent . Not at all what I expected from this organization.

As a shelter in Los Angeles the lamp is one of the best if not the best, however it is no longer called Lamp it is The People Concern. You usually become a client through a portal such as the Department of Mental Health. They are also helping me get housing.

I have stayed at the Lamp and it was a great experience. I would tell anyone going through a hard time in their life to go to the Lamp. And I have and give love to the Lamp
