I would have to say this is a very nice place. And the staff is awesome. I go probably 1 time a week depending on my need for puppy blankets.Big, organized, decently clean! No smell like I have read in previous reviews. I mean cmon we are in Oakland and downtown. So ya maybe some homeless population around or inside. Whatever... Really. Thats what salvation army is right. A place to re-home clothes etc At bargain prices!
Why did she have to be so rude?I arrived at 5:50 PM because online it says they close at 7 PM. I was excited thinking I had an hour. And then the lady at the cash register start shouting at me, “WE’RE CLOSED”I said: Ahhh , it says your close on 7 PM online. Then she says again “SORRY WE’RE CLOSED“Then I say: OK :-(As I’m walking out I’m passing the shoes, so I have nine minutes at that point and just looked at the shoes quickly, because I can make decisions in a minute. And then I hear again: “MAM, WE’RE CLOSED!”She really had to go there and include the MAM.If it’s 552 by that point, they’re still technically openSoooo darn rude.
Employee were very friendly and helpful. The selections were much better than the goodwill I been too. Prices are affordable with 25% off on Saturday making me save even more. This place is busy and quite big. Location down town china town everyone stop in and out seem busy.
The store is decently clean inside for a thrift store. Some good deals on brand new items. Usually a good selection of quality, slightly - used furniture available at this store. Parking can be a challenge, but sometimes you can get lucky. Metered, on-street parking. There is a parking lot with a salvation army sign about a block away.
So I got a shirt. Half off white tags today. The people kept to themselves. If you want assistance youll have to ask for it. But if you dont like being asked if they can help you & followed around the store its the perfect store for you. Decent selection for a second hand store and I enjoyed shopping all around down town Oakland. The atmosphere and people are unique and friendly.
I usually find something cool but, I also go through e everything 1 item at a time when I do this I find better stuff today I got a brand new long sleeve grey wool button down shirt , a short sleeve like cut like Hawaiian style just not loud , and a tank top a little used for a little over 10 dollars , also there was an illegal I saw shoplifting
Huge selection of clothing and convienently organized. Staff was wonderful.Dressing rooms were big. Hthry had multiple tag and date sales which is always a plus. Also for those driving they gave free parking a block away. Just get the pass signed after your purchase! Nice to know if driving around crowded oakland.
Salvation army those help everyone out.thre goal is too recovery people who was missed leaded down the wrong path.giving them hope in there community to be a humble survent of christ our suvor. Three mission is too help gods children and give them hope .three not about profit-sharing and other things media may say. But too give back too people as they did into others.it was once say you make one step Ill make the other.for those dont know.salvaton army provide services all over united States. Making away out of no way.they provide all resources available to them. Making a huge effort in all community service threw out america. Their mission is to focus on community and giving help to those in need
It was coo. The clerks are very polite and they dont tolerate rif raff and thieves try a b slick walk in out without paying. I really appreciate that. They dont profile black people either. All 3 people tryna steal were middle aged white men. Hey. Im just saying........
While I was in the store, waiting in line to buy a small dresser and some other things, an older man came to the front and was taking the dresser that the sales clerk had asked me to bring up front. When I told the man that I was buying it already, he started swearing at me....he was calling me all sorts of foul words and cussing terribly but the staff did nothing to stop him....it was determined that he was right and he continued to tell and cuss at me. I left the store because I was so upset. The staff again did NOTHING.....I think they were afraid of him but they should have asked him to leave or at the very least, admitted that they had made a mistake and offered some interference or a kind word.

2022-03-14They Ripped us OffTook our money and the table—wouldn’t give us store credit when we realized the table was too big for our car. We never even got the table out of the store, but they wouldn’t even let us try to see, if we could take the table top apart (which was completely doable since it was an expandable table) The so-called manager, of this-so-called charity wouldn’t even give my elderly mother store credit for the table we had just paid for…PLEASE DO NOT BRING DONATIONS HERE. They treat everyone like trash, no dignity or compassion here.

2022-07-13Mostly clothing with a smattering of bric a brac. Got lucky and found some nice Bluetooth computer speakers....parking can be difficult since its in the densely populated oakland Chinatown.

2022-06-05Very courteous staff, clean, well-organized and a very generous selection. But, I would be remiss if I didnt disclose my affinity for the Blood and Fire.

2022-02-11A very wholesome experience to see to the happiness of people buying used/donated items. There appeared to be a joyfulness in their souls.

2021-12-23The Adult Rehabilitation Center at Salvation Army helps men suffering from addiction and alcoholism learn to overcome thier disease and live healthy, productive lives. I have personally witnessed the miracles that occur here and it is wonderful and beautiful, thank you Salvation Army for all that you do. Every life matters.

2018-05-08Love this store. I can usually find what I want or need for way less than retail.

2021-07-08Pretty decent store, most of the items are clothes, but everything seemed to be reasonably priced. I ended up getting some toy cars for my son and a propane firepit. Yhe other furniture seemed decent, if not a little outdated.

2021-11-20Lots to choose from but they dont have a return policy of any kind. If you buy it and it doesnt work for you for whatever reason oh well too bad you lose!!! I can not spend my money here when they dont appreciate their customers enough to have some sort of return policy! All that I hear this place saying is Me, Me, Meeee! I dont mind spending when I know if something doesnt work out I can take it back for a fair exchange.

2020-12-06I’ve always had a great experience at this location. The employees are helpful and polite. I’ve never smelled anything bad, it smells like all thrift stores. You can find some really good deals and most things are priced fairly.
