This particular Home Depot sucks! The service here is generally terrible. Besides knowing where to find things in the store, dont count on them being able to answer your questions. Home Depot employees used to be knowledgeable. However, they are mostly friendly, so one extra star for that.
Bao is amazing!!! Every single time I go to pick up an online order he is manning the desk by himself, with 7-10 people in line. He manages to smile and be courteous even though he gets attitude from all the rude impatient customers. He always manages to make me laugh by the time I leave! This guy needs a raise!!! HEAR ME HOME DEPOT!!! BAO NEEDS A RAISE!!!! He is literally the only reason I gave yall 5 stars!
Wade thru a homeless camp, then 10000 day workers lurking in the parking lot to find 10000 orange vested workers that are no help at all. The one thing the workers are good at is disappearing and avoiding direct eye contact.Good news is the fine folks of Oakland are paying to keep a few OPD officers stationed in the parking lot. Avoid if possible.
Problem with my pick-up order. The CR rep at the counter couldn’t find my order. Refused to ask for help & told me order numbers don’t start with a WB at their store. 3 text messages and 2 emails aren’t proof enough.Went home bc CR rep was annoying me chewing her gum. Called. Can’t get thru to a human on the phone… alameda Oakland store is the worst. Emeryville was out so now I’m stuck
This is. The worst Home Depot I’ve ever been to. I have wasted more time and money here than I care to admit it’s location at one point seemed convenient but dont be be fooled this place is closer to a cheap flea market(flea markets are more organized) rather than a building supply store. Go anywhere else
This is one of my favorite stores. For the most part, the employees are helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are pretty good and I can find just about anything. I give 4 stars because the cashiers talk a lot to each other and sometimes they forget to acknowledging the customers.
Horrible employee. I think Was dealing with the manager. I just don’t understand who hires these people with such horrible personalities. I’m trying to do a return. I have the receipt and the disrespect I was receiving was just horrible. I also noticed how the other employees are around this employees. It’s like they are scared of her. Why do the employees have to ask the manager to go to the bathroom. Sounds like slavery. Even prisoners get treated better. Home depot corporate needs to reevaluate there managers or they’ll feel the consequences one way or another.
I will never shop at Home Depot again. I placed on online order for a $200 ladder on the morning of Nov 27, 2021 and paid $35 to have it delivered the same day. After being charged for the ladder and the delivery fee and having not actually received the ladder by Nov 28, I contacted Home Depot who first claimed that they delivered the ladder on Nov 27 at 2:25 pm, and thats what their online order tracking tool says. But I was home all day and no-one came, and they have no evidence of delivery - i.e., no photo, no signature, nothing. When I called the store to complain, they then claimed that they still have the ladder in their store. I asked to cancel the order and for the name of the manager, and they transferred me to number that rang for a very long time before I finally spoke with Ashley, who wouldnt give her last name, but claimed that she was the manager. Ashley apologized, but made no attempt to correct their mistake. I understand that mistakes happen, but 1) they store should know when a same-day delivery order is not delivered, and 2) they should not mark the order as delivered when they know it hasnt been delivered, and 3) they should not lie about their mistakes. Ive shopped at Home Depot my entire adult life. But no more. I will never shop at Home Depot again. Im hopeful that they will at least not mess-up the canceling of my order.
This will be your typical Home Depot hardware store, but the customer service is something to be desired. Also, due the homeless crisis the homeless has made the main street to this location home, so beware of going in the evening hours. One more thing, where does it makes sense to have only one register open with the type of line you see in the picture.
Terrible experience here with order pick up - they cancelled my order after I called and they said they would extend it by one day. Then the customer service team barely helped in trying to figure out what happened. DO NOT order anything from this location and expect it to be there. Several other people in line were clearly frustrated.
Always a lot staff playing around. Then only open 2 cashiers. 1 of the cashiers only accept card. Waiting 15-20 mins to check out. Not only 1 time or 2/3 time. It’s every time. Home Depot always like no management. Call to CS to complain many time. But they don’t care.Big Home Depot suck cashiers and staff. Also they on the list call ‘the worst Home Depot.
Actually, I was disappointed at first, but by the time I left I had gotten what I wanted, enjoyed the help of the associate assistance, appreciated the security police provided outside, and repaired my car in the lot under the light post feeling safe and satisfied . There is a huge homeless encampment in the upper part of the parking lot, which looks like a scene from a futuristic burning man gone bad, policed by their own, and peaceful. All in all, a good stop.
Been shopping there since it opened. I swear I can not stand that store. Some of the staff are amazing but management is the pits, service in most departments is non existent and quite a few of the staff seemed disgruntled. You also have to check every item you intend to buy. They re-shelf defective items, misplace items in the wrong areas and are frequently out of items. High street Home Depot and El Cerrito Home Depot are cleaner, better stocked and the entire staff at both sites areMore helpful.
As far as Home Depots go, this is the best one in the area, specifically due to the lack of population. You can check out within minutes even on a Saturday, provided youre paying credit. If youre sensitive to the large houseless population outside, they keep to themselves, as do the hired laborers near McDonalds. Overall, has what Im looking for without the madness of the Emeryville location.
This is one of the older home Depot stores so they dont have a lot of the departments the newer ones have or employees that care or know what theyre doing. You could be looking for a standard part and there will be four employees just standing there right next to you talking not trying to help you. If you buy something and its in a box open the box because there will be parts missing Make sure the part in the box is what it says on the box people change boxes. Be careful about anything you buy here.
The store is clean and wel stocked. Most of the staff is awesome. Lisa does need to have a customer service refresher. Or learn to breath and understand the public isnt out to get her. She should be kind, less aggressive and helpful rather than curt to the point of rudeness.
I mostly go to this home depot for lawn and garden stuff. Its a pretty good store, decent selection. They always have the brown mulch and soil that Im looking for and a decent selection of succulents. Their flower pots and indoor plants selection feels limited. These days there are also a bunch of RVs parked along the street housing some of Oakland underhoused population. It makes for a more challenging approach to the store than used to be the case.
I went in to pick up an online order. I stood in the line where it said Customer Service/Pick Up. I stood in line about 10 minutes before I was directed around the corner where a very nice gentleman named Cortez assisted me with my order. He was very engaging and we even have something in common in that we are both young veterans of the US Army. He told me what hours he worked and if I needed help to look for him. This was great because just having purchased a new home Home Depot is a whole new world. I will definitely be visiting that store again just for the exceptional customer service experience. My only complaint would be that they need to be clearer about where pick up actually is so that customers dont waste time standing in unnecessary lines.
I do not recommend going there unless you have a lot of driving skills and patience. Getting out of there is not pleasant the traffic is horrible and people just cut around you on the left and right to make a left turn on a street that is bumper to bumper continues. If doing work and need supplies I wont rather drive a extra 10 minutes to emeryville store. Very easy in and easy out. But the store is ok. And staff very helpful.
Good processing .I was in and out in no time. However always several oak. Police there. On there phones. My tax dollars are being wasted I feel. A half block down the street at a big homeless camp is where they should be. Home Depot has been making arrangements since last year to relocate because of police activity like Walmart did off hegenburger in Oakland.
Well, I went in to get a bag of traeger pellets for my smoker. The website said they had it, and I was expecting to be in-and-out in about 10 minutes. They had it, on top of the pallet rack. The staff was VERY helpful, but it still took me an hour of me waiting on them to get it. The main person helping me did keep apologizing which is nice, but hey - maybe give me a discount for waiting for so long? Even if it could of been the employee discount of 10%?But the fact that the store had three team members dedicate themselves to my need as a customer to get it does make me feel very valuable. It is just unfortunate it took so so long.5/5 for service, 1/5 for the convenience. Averaging a 3 out of 5 on this review.I will still go to amazon.com for my purchases when I dont need them immediately. But again, very friendly and helpful staff!! Thanks again guys (sincerely)!!
The store is fine as long as you don’t need help from any employees. Otherwise they don’t really care. Not only were they not helpful but also were in the way of me trying to find what I needed. They didn’t try to move out of the way or ask if I needed help. Literally made it so awkward I just left without getting what I was looking for. If you expect some kind of customer service take your money elsewhere like I did.
Went on a Friday there were 3 registers open and several helpful staff members. Returned to grab a few more things on Saturday and there was only 1 open register with no staff to answer questions. The line was halfway to the back of the store. I left without getting what I came for and went to Lowes which had much better service.
Waiting forever to get help. Makes you think long and hard before returning to purchase merchandise deeply disappointed with the long ways for service you spending a lot of money in there you shouldnt have to wait that long and it was a group of us we were waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and appliances only one person showed up just grossly negligent in terms of management making sure that the departments arent adequately covered
I always love Home Depot if you need something 90% theyll have it but one thing for you to do before you waste your time riding driving walking whatever is look at the store stock either online or call for your item because it just might not be there and maybe they will hold it for you they did for me like if its the last one type thing okay you have a wonderful day at work you are blessed to work and you have a blessed one, peace in the USA!!??!! ☘️☘️🙏🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
I usually tend to go to the Emeryville location but go here when I need to get something quickly. Overall the store is well stocked. I would stay away from their wood selection as its usually warped and wet. As with all Home Depots (at least its been my experience) the staff helping you is a hit or miss. I would suggest if you need to find an item its best just to look it up online or on the app to find its location. I have better luck going that route than trying to find an employee or one thats willing to do more than just point off in a general direction.
DO NOT BUY LARGE APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT! They use 3rd party delivery service Temco Logistics. Look up Temcos reviews and youll know why. I spent $2k and then proceeded to need to call, revisit the store, etc. and etc. and still didnt get my washer and dryer. They delayed delivery with no call and no explanation. Give Temco a call? Good Luck! I hope you have a spare hour to sit on the line and then get routed to a call center where you can hear others yelling in the background about how customers are always telling lies. I canceled my order and I never felt so good walking out of Home Depot!
I had the BEST service from Eboni and Vanessa. We are moving into our home and are limited to options for bathroom faucets due to the way they already are in the bathrooms. I placed an order from the Foster City location for 3 faucets, and only received one. I guess the item I chose was on clearance and I didn’t have any others to choose from. Long story short, was transferred to 5 different locations to place my order. And as in the process, the items were sold out already. This location, Oakland, was my last resort to getting all my items to match and not starting over from scratch. (With the restricted colors and dimensions) Eboni and Vanessa went above and beyond to make sure I got the last two items that were left, and actually took the time and showed that they truly cared. I am so grateful for their outstanding service and couldn’t thank them enough for all that they did. I can’t even explain how thankful I am
Went here for a pair of fluorescent lightbulbs(hard to buy correct ones on Amazon/other places online).Store is very organized. They have a small fast food place at front outside of the store. They also help you recycle your old lightbulbs including fluorescent light bulbs.
I usually loathe going to Home Depot but on this particular occasion the service was great. The didnt have exactly what I needed but an employee actually showed me how to quick build what I needed and I still paid less than $60. Not the case for most visits. Cause I usually feel lost and unassisted but this time was completely different.
Was really impressed with customer service today. Someone actually got off his desk and walked me to the correct aisle. The pick up orders section did not have a line and Vanessa was very very helpful not only getting the package for me but also checking out my other merchandise, so I did not have to stand in check out line!
It Carries a large varieties of brands and tools. The only negative is that there are no support from any ground staff regards questions and whether if I am getting the correct parts for repairs, replacements etc. There were numerous times I had to ask fellow shoppers for help. If you are lucky to find one not busy or helping others, the staffs are courteous and friendly.
2 people working returns desk took nearly half an hour to help the two people in front of me.Then when I asked somebody else for help with a garden sprinkler, she shrugged and told me to try plumbing. I found what I asked her for ten feet away in gardening.Dont come here, make the drive to San Leandro; theyre much faster and friendlier
The store is going from bad to worse. Aside from the lack of knowledge of some of the workers. The filthy restrooms with more paper on the floors than in the dispensers. The security needs a revamping educating them or replacing with a group with those that dont create unnecessary scenes. The experience yesterday could have resulted in more harm than good for me. Which is the only reason I am writing. A female security alleging to be a supervisor, speaking of a situation loud enough for the customers in line to overhear. Is so unprofessional, never realizing if the person requesting information is not disturbing customers or cashire they should not either. Alleged his boss should know their limits and obligations. Which is not to create a hostile environment but places them in the position to fill out any necessary paperwork. As a supervisor to never give up the upper hand by becoming upset/ defensive and agressive prior to knowing the versions of what occured. To never be so nieve as to think an underling will not modify their version. Especially since all this is the result of ignorance. So how do I rate my last visit after having to be in the store for a few hours? The last thing I want is to exit and be lied on by a so called security. Sending me to an authority figure who can take the words of someone he works with regurally. Resulting in my being labeled or worse detained and harassed because the authority is inclined to believe the security. All this can be avoided if the security are educated.
Very very bad customer serviceThis old black lady working near the kitchen cabinets has never been taught professional work ethics. You ask her one thing she’ll answer very rudely and sarcastically. I was gonna let it go but then it happened another time to my partner. I don’t get why you guys like to hire incompetent people like this. There’s also this new girl who wasted more than an hour of our time just to tell us we can’t get the item that we already paid for. Their solution was a refund because one of the employees refuse to drive the forklift.I understand if they might have been understaffed, I work at a warehouse too. But if they cannot step up and do a decent job, they can at least do service with a decent attitude and just a drop of professionalism. The hiring department is clearly not screening for their hires.
Just had an extremely disappointing experience at this Home Depot of High Street. I will not come back. I design homes for clients and am in HD and others very often sometimes daily. I have never had employees at any Home Depot who were not helpful and respectful.Today 3 male employees were loitering around the the exit door chatting. They flanked the exit door 2 on 1 side 1 on the other. The door was only open enough to allow to carts to pass through side by side so perhaps 5-6ft. They were standing on the inside of the door way and I waited for a while for them to finish thinking the one checking receipts would be going back to work when he say someone leaving the store. They motioned for me to come through and I asked very politely if they would mind giving me a 6” space. I was taken by surprise when they stayed where they were and started arguing that the doorway was 6’ wide. They neglected to note that 3 grown men have a width of at least 2 ft wide on one side and the other at lease one foot on the other side. They wanted me to walk through a 3 foot opening with the 3 of them forming my corona tunnel. The three started attacking me so I said never mind and started to walk to the opposite side of the store to exist there.A different male employee stopped me half way to the door and told me the exit is on the other side. I explained I tried to use that exit but there was a small cluster of employees hanging out in the doorway of the exit. He said it doesn’t matter that’s the exit. I said it’s a law 6 ft distancing and I’d gladly go through there if 6” distancing is observed. He walked me to the door and the 3 men continued with raised voices defending themselves to him while I stood mouth shut wondering if this is what customer service at this store has descended to. They were saying things like “I touched everything In the store and carts and were laughing at me because they thought they were being clever. What they did not know was while waiting in line at check out, I spayed my hands with sanitary spray and wipes down the cart I was using before I used it and cleaned my hands again on the way out. I didn’t feel the need to tell them that or defend myself. They continued arguing with me all three of them as I was crossing the driveway to the parking lot. It was so incredibly counter to customer service for the first time I did say something and it was that I’m reporting them to management. All I asked was a 6ft space to dash out the door which is a law. I told them my husband and had a heart condition and is high riskIt did not matter. They wanted to hang out in clusters at the door breathing on people and they felt it was worth getting A 1 Star rating and bad review for their employer to do so. remember gentlemen millions of people unemployed right now. Not a time I would suggest showing their disrespect for their employees customers. Probable 100’s of folks to fill your shoes.
Funny store, went in to replace my stove drip pans. Explain to 3 ladies. 2 had no ideal what I was talking about. The other one said they didnt have them. Found 2 guys know what I was talking about the other knew where. People teach your children to cook 3 meals, so they will not have to order food. All the time. Show them the kitchen.
Dont believe a word they say if they cant even warn customers they are NOT “open “ till 900, they run out of there like their pants are on fire as quickly as possible. I got here at 847 and was denied entry. Be responsible enough to put it as a policy, not a form of bait and switch. I will be getting my bathroom rehab supplies elsewhere, not returning in the morning for the convenience of liars!
Home Depot has almost everything you want and need but everyone knows that. Parking is good, prices are good and the store is easily navigated. I do wish when I needed help they could respond faster though. If you know exactly what you want and where to get it this place gets five stars but if you need help then this place is a three since you can wait long time for someone to show up. Most of the time I have a good idea of where Im going and only rarely need help or advice so on average its a four out of five.
The young lady named Pamela MillerAt the Oakland storeShe gave the best service ever since Ive been going thereIve been trying to buy a microwave since 2018From this store and the service was poor very poor. But today Pamela was not only kind but she literally walked me around to choose the correct one .Im hoping the superiors acknowledge her work
I rarely leave reviews, but my experience here has been very bad on multiple occasions in the past few weeks. I just moved to the area and have had to make trips to this store for various items. In my example I will use lightbulbs I needed to purchase, but similar incidents have happened for other items and during other visits. Don’t bother asking employees for help, they are unhelpful and unwilling to take 30 seconds from their socialization time, which you can clearly watch them doing. I asked a passing employee if a certain lightbulb was in inventory, which is easily accessible information on the devices they carry, and was informed I needed to find someone who works in electrical... no helping me find said person or actually listening to my question. I had to search around the store for 10 mins until I found another employee and had to get upset in order to be helped. I visited the Home Depot in another location and it was the complete opposite experience, so I guess I will be making the extra drive in order to get actual customer service. This location is horrific.
For over a year, I have yet to find someone competent enough to know where certain items are in the store, not to mention the ability to pick up the phone. Every single time Ive come in, no one knows what Im looking for, and I end up finding the item in a spot where it is more than obvious. Ive been given the runaround with claims that an item is out of stock even though the website says that their location has plenty in quantity. I cant rely on ordering online for curbside pickup because no one ever gets back to me regarding wait time, let alone why the wait takes longer for me versus someone else placing the same order AFTER I do, and they dont have a long wait. No one ever answers the phone, especially for Customer Service. The only reason why I use this location is because of certain needs for work. And why are so many of the employees and loss prevention people improperly wearing their masks by not keeping it over their nose?! If you cant follow simple protocol, dont report for work.
I purchased a laundry center unit the day after 4th of July and the sales were still in effect. The appliance rep was so helpful. She went out of her way to look up the right specifications for a unit that would fit the closet space in my townhouse. I really appreciated the help because I had attempted to make a purchase during the holidays in 2019 with another store and upon delivery found out it was too big. Next, Ill get a refrigerator.
One of the areas largest and busiest Home Depots. Sometimes traffic in and out can be challenging, often times their staff are burned out because it is a busy store, but, theyre working hard and most of the time theyll go above and help you if youre kind, patient and understanding. Ill visit this store because of selection and inventory, most of the time their staff are positive, helpful and knowledgeable. You have to remember its a busy store and patience wins the day. I recently remodeled the exterior of a home, buying blocks for a retaining wall, paint, exterior trim and more here and after 4 trips I can share it was an overall pleasant experience.
We had to go to two different stores. One didnt have one of the items we needed. So we went to another location. They had the items but no rental trucks. So we ordered the items for will call, went to the other location to rent a truck, came back for our will call, which took forever only to find out that one of the items was damaged. The guys pulling the product knew it was damaged the day before! Why was it not labeled as damaged? So we ended up substituting it with something else that costed more. We were at the first Home Depot at 6 am, which is right down the street from our house. We finally got home after 12 noon. Six hours just to pick up two different types of limber.
This location is constantly out stock of things. Seem to cater more to contractors. I am disabled and have to walk extremely far from ADA parking to enter the store. Nice staff, very helpful, especially in garden department (Security there are extra nice, too.) Sadly, no clearance like Emeryville & San Leandro stores.
Eating 5/5 stars. I bought flooring from their smaller company home depot pro. Although the order number didnt work, I was able to even exchange for a damage flooring that was slightly chip off for a new one. Theres no transaction so im thankful the customer service to help me and my dad in this. Yayyyyyyyyygyyyygh
This stores is terribly understaffed. Especially during shelter in place. There is no one available for returns or to maintain the lines. Online pick up is a mess. You would think it would be easier but it would be faster just to get it off the floor yourself. Checkout is horrendous, good luck if you need to lug heavier materials and can’t manage to park near the only exit
Per usual the DIY experience here starts when you walk through the door. Some of the employees are really nice and helpful. Some not so much. My go to employees were not around, so I had to find misplaced items myself. They were close to where they belong and I was able to find them quickly.
This store is terrible. Everything I had special ordered or just a simple order for pick up was broken. I paid extra for tiles to be special ordered and less than half of them were in original packaging- the rest were loose, carelessly repackaged and handed to us KNOWINGLY broken or chipped- more than $1100 worth of tiles. Why would they think itd be ok to hand to customers in this state? The glass track lighting was broken. Did they think we wouldnt return it? Yes, the return policy is easy, but I wasted 2 weeks of my contractors time- which is hard to book in this market. Very irresponsible, not accountable and no pride for their work and actions. Avoid at all costs.
This store is a short drive from my house, so I want to use it. But Ive been let down by this place too many times. The two biggest gripes are lack of staff (when I need their help to find something that isnt locatable on their app, or get something down from the stocking shelves because they havent restocked the regular shelves) and stock control (I usually never bother trying to find something at this store that the HD app lists as having less than 15 in stock, too many times its just not on the shelf despite supposedly having 7 or 10 in stock). The staff they *do* have are quite friendly and usually helpful, theres just not enough of them. Online ordering pick up is very hit and miss, so that doesnt help. The homeless encampment surrounding the site makes you feel worried about break-ins (which is apparently warranted given the reports and the police cruiser permanently parking outside the entrance). Just drive the extra 5-10 minutes to San Leandro HD and save yourself the trouble.
Three stars is more generous than usual. Sunday evening, its packed! COVID-19 DIYers? Not enough staff for a huge return line, nor for checkout. Store unusually tidy/clean, though. Ill give them that. My ONE item was almost 3x the price of Economy Lumber. (closed for the night)
This one is the complete Home Depot experience. The store itself is pretty well stocked, unlike the Emeryville store. Outside you have a police car parked there during shopping hours to provide and sense of security. The entrance to the parking is usually lined with day laborers during the mornings. Theres a Mexican/hot dog food stall near the entrance to the store. All around the perimeter is one of the largest homeless encampments in the area.
Huge selection, helpful employees, reasonable prices, and a 10% discount for military and veterans. Lots to like here, but the parking lot is full of garbage. The area is blighted, lots of desperately poor people down on their luck, sketchy activities in the parking lot. Dont leave anything in your vehicle while shopping.
Very good experience. The staff members I worked with were very helpful and helped me find what I needed quickly. And as big and confusing home depot is thats quite a feat. The two in the garden area were cheerful, pleasant, and ready to help. A rare occurrence in retail during the holidays. I wish I had gotten their names. They deserve reconition.
The WORST HD I have ever been in! A complete mess everywhere, Stock is hit and miss even before the challenges of Covid. The store is in such a bad place there has to be Oakland PD stationed at the front door. Getting to and from the location is difficult with the way the roads are set up and even more difficult with the recent change to fit in the homeless community/ compound.Speaking to other contractors, most go to other locations to avoid this disaster of a store. One good point, the employees are nice and make an attempt to help people, but they have little knowledge of anything construction and DIY.
Like zombies! With the homless and the staff, when they are needed. Dirty, disorgnzide. Takes too long. Most of the staff young, with mostly adittude, and less know how. No work ethic or respect for those customers that waster their time, to then go and do back breaking work.
I recently bought a door for a job,I’m doing the homeowner didn’t like the door size so I had to go and return it as I am doing so the employee try to do his best and said that if I had a receipt. I told him I didn’t but I have my Pro rewards Which he should be able to find the receive for it as he found it,he call his manager due to the fact that he didn’t had money on his cash register.the Manager(Javier) said that he couldn’t help me because the door was special order all while being despotic to me. As I began explaining to him that I didn’t special ordered the door,I went to another Home Depot to buy the door and they had three more on stock.as everything is happening another employee Came and said that she was a specialist on doors(stefani),then proceeded on telling me the same thing that the door was special order and that I wasn’t supposed to return it in that store also while being rude.the amount of unprofessionalism from both of them really shocked me I never experienced nothing alike in all my years being a pro and buying from Home Depot those people should be fired for making excuses and I’m saying excuses due to the fact that when I arrive they told me I was going to get my cash back and that’s why they called a manager. I am very disappointed on the customer service that the supposedly manager gave me due To this I won’t be buying from my local Home Depot anymore and that’s a real inconvenience for me
Generally great store; however, the street that provides access is so blocked by camps that there are no safe places to pull over in case of emergency. i cant believe the city allows the camps to take up both sides of the street including both sidewalks. this has got to be an ADA violation to prevent access by wheelchair bound along this route. im no longer going to visit home depot on alameda street.
Ordinarily I give workers the benefit of the doubt but not this time at Home Depot, Oakland. The two female employees we asked for help moved away from where they were talking and laughing and did not return-I guess we disturbed their socializing. Other than the workers who greeted us as we entered the store, customer service was abysmally nonexistent at this store! Shopping here was very disappointing.
My experience has been mixed lately at this Home Depot... I think all the talk about closing it is bringing the place down. The last few times I have been there, even when they had what I was looking for it was up in the racks and there was no one to get it down (It was plywood, needed a forklift and after over an hour of talking to several people about it.... they still could not find anyone and I went to San Leandro to get what I needed...). It does seem in general that finding someone to lend you a hand in the store is getting more time consuming.I know they are busy but recently I had to wait about 5-10 minutes until someone answered the phone! Really? All I can think of is that they are very much understaffed and just dont have the people to do what it takes. I feel for the employees, really I do, as most of them are very knowledgeable and helpful...
The front line essential employees at this Home Depo have done an amazing job. Could you imagine working in a Home Depo during a pandemic!? No way! Only working in a Grocery store could be a comparable hell! I hope Home Depo management loves and appreciates their heroes that come to work everyday.
My homedepot.com order somehow got routed to the Oakland store. They forgot to deliver the two most expensive items in my order. I tried calling to get these item back or a credit all day but all I get is someone hanging on you as soon as they pickup. Even other home depot stores says that even they cannot get a hold of the Oakland location. Terrible customer service.
Person on pick order taking with girl give me a small discount then he can be happy im not like that person you giving me a $10 discount then I’m happy I’m from Fremont just coming in Oakland to pickup RoybI battery that I ordered online just want to say néed little improvements for customer service I ask for manager.Manager is helpful person I always order online and when I came for pickup they said it’s out of stock but today I meet manager he is very helpful and help me to get my order completed that is awesome I forgot to ask his name.great jobThank you manager
I ordered online from the store and they delayed my ordered three times and held themselves to no accountability. I called the store and the lady put me on hold for over 30 minutes (I checked on my phone screen) so I just hung up. They didn’t want to help with my online order that I had questions about. This has to be the worst customer service. Home Depot is very disappointing in the East Bay specifically.
The paint department was the worst EVER! I actually think the guy working the desk purposely took his sweet time getting everyones paint because he hates his job!! 3 of us were waiting for his lazy butt to get out paint out of the shaking machine but he left to get 3 tiny cans off the shelf. He wasnt even getting them for anyone. Luckily the cashier was amazing!!
This Home Depot is an absolute dumpster fire. The only reason I am giving it two stars is that its extremely close to my apartment and that inside the building is relatively clean. Other than that is horrible. There is a homeless camp in the parking lot. Broken glass everywhere, so dont park there too long or leave stuff in your car. The staff is not very helpful and they never have enough people working register to deal with the crowds. I would avoid this place at all costs, unless like me its the only hardware store close by...
Home depot always a very affordable store for everything home related . The prices are very good that you dont have to wait until it is on sale. Watch out for the clearance items. Sometimes you dont believe the price is so low and rock bottom. For example , I pick up a 349 mechanic`s tool set for $80:00 which normally sell for $229.00. The only missing is a 6 pieces of deep sockets then I get a 16 in 1 precision screw driver set which normally costs $6:40 for $1:89. I give this company a 5 stars. Quality and prices keep me coming back. I do not work for this company,or know or have any relatives working for this company a loyal customer since 1980. Thank you for keep my house up to day The only bad thing is sometimes it is difficult to find help, but be patience, help is always there.
Never came into this HD before cause we are closer to the El Cerrito but they had what they needed. Ive always felt there are very few trained people at all home depots. Which makes sense because of turn over in retail. Well let me tell you something. We met an employee named Lennie who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly in the paint department. Not only did he help us get the right stuff for our deck.. he pretty much told us how to do it step by step. Hes a gem and deserves a raise!!
Placed a pickup order, which they claim should be ready in a few hours. Checked that all items were available at the Oakland store. Did not receive the notification that my order was ready after two days. Called, and they promised that they would finished the order. However, I received an email that part of my order was no longer available, which they canceled offering alternatives. This is very disappointing customer service. Extremely disappointed.
Attention to the store manager: Something is seriously wrong with service desk. We placed an order online and the system said that the store rep will call us to schedule a delivery. We tried to call about 6-10 times EVERY day in the past 3 days. Not only nobody called us to schedule a delivery, but also nobody ever picks up the phone. A couple of times they did pick up, but hung up on us and never called back. How difficult should it be to schedule a simple delivery?! Bad rude service. Management, please take action.
Too slow, hard to get help. Went to a true value store today on seminary and San leandro blvd. It is a nice clean store with great service. Dont see myself making as many trips to home depot anymore. Couldnt even get help loading my van the other day at home depot. Forklift driver said he didnt feel like doing it and we were lucky he brought it out cause he didnt feel like doing that either.
This is the only home Depot that had the part I needed to fix my shower! Every other one didnt have it in stock! Ive been without a shower for 2 days!!! Thank you Oakland Home Depot!!! This is a huge store and I will honestly start coming to this one instead of the Hayward or San Leandro store. This store has a LOT more to chose from and all the little random things you would need for a project
Older staff and managers are super helpful and will offer advice or guidance even when they cant be identified as a home depot employee (i.e. not wearing any orange). The younger folks are very slow and couldnt care less. The phone rings non stop here and you hear it over the PA system so its fairly annoying. Location isnt bad. Lots of parking usually.
In store help is hard to come by and it seems like they just hire people to have bodies in the store. I use my phone and find that I help people more than employees when Im in the store. Now I just wear big headphones with loud music so people dont talk to me and I can get in and out.
Overall my experience was good. The sales people are helpful and quick to help you find what you need. The only reason why i didnt give more stars was bcus the check out lines there suck. Theres way too many employees that are standing around mingling with each other - for there to be only two lines open- 7- 8 people deep in each line.
Really wish I could give this zero stars. I’ve had so many problems at this store. Almost never do they have everything I need. The tools I rent almost always have some problem. People tend not to be very helpful (with some exceptions). It’s always sooooooooo busy. Tends to have really long cashier lines. I usually prefer to go to the Davis St store, even though it’s several miles out of the way.
Most employees dont have a clue of where items are located. Some have no customer service skills. If you ask for help, the young employees are usually goofing around with other employees and act like they dont even want to bother with a customer to help and assist. The people who work in Returns are often slow, rude and clueless. And worst of all, its not a safe place to shop, the parking lot is surrounded by thieves. Considering past reviews of this place, not much is being done about it.
Nice big store. Has everything u can think of.....just one thing that is bothersome; is how badly the plants need some loving, tender & care just some water or alittle more then there getting. I would love to have a job in the Gardening Dept. anytime. I would keep all the plants and flowers cleaned and watered💦😉👍✌👌💧Peace, Love & U.S.A.🇺🇸💜
This particular visit NOT so great!! Had a key made that literally took the employee 25mins to make, then to leave after finally getting the keys placed in machine properly, and tells me, can YOU finish this up? When it says finished just pull the lever down & remove your original key. Then just PULL the new key out. Im like wt!!!!!? Key didnt even work once I got home!! Smh. . .
Went to the Home Depot in East Oakland they had the things that I needed and customer service the one in Emeryville didnt have anything I wanted in the customer service is lousy and Emeryville just lousy they see you coming and they walk away before you get there in Emeryville
This is the rough-and-ready Home Depot. The feel is contractor friendly. The staff are quick to get you the help or items you need, because most of the patrons are going back out to a jobsite to get their project done. I go here when Im doing home projects and its my third trip back because I need one more plumbing part. Boom, in, out, done.
Came in for one thing. The first guy I asked told me where to find it, which is fine, but I had a question about how to adapt it for my purpose (cut the metal). Looked and looked for a good 5-10 minutes and couldnt find anyone. Asked a guy stocking shelves and he paged someone. Sat in the area for at least 10-15 minutes, nothing. I had to have him page again, and again NO ONE came for 10 minutes! Finally went to check out (where there was only one checker). Took 40 minutes for one item that I found within the first 5 minutes. Bad customer services, IMO!
Absolutely worst Home Depot location in the bay area. Every employee has friends and family visiting them while working, and nobody is interested in helping customers. The windows and doors woman, along with most all other departments, will leave you on hold for 20 minutes and then hang up. Avoid going here for any reason.
Never in my life have I had to deal with so many employees with the not my job mentality. I probably had more than $1000 to spend today. I left it all because the carpet pad I needed had obviously been cut and returned. And I couldnt get one of 3 staff members to pull something from the top. Not a chance this site gets a dollar off mine. Go to Fremont or Emeryville. Avoid this one at all costs.
Honestly I understand who they keep on saying we crush the competition, they do. Everytime I enter a homedepot store I feel like a little kid with all the tools and hardware I feel like I want to buy everything. The guys that work there always know where everything is and you always get the right guidance.
The bad store in all bay area never has nothing on stock long very long waiting time for pay or even worse if u need something its over stock u need forklift driver and never its available so u waiting time going to be the double and if u order something they call u its ready and nothing its ready and the parking u have to be very careful leaving u car something because u can get stolen u stuff. The customer service never has time for u always its busy .
A typical Home Depot, but the parking area is not the greatest. The garden department is so-so, they are not as skilled at taking care of their plants like you find at a true nursery. The parking lot is chaotic and a mess. Trying to get into the area can be nerve wracking, people running the light in a hurry to get ahead of others. The entrance is flanked by McDonalds and a gym, constantly busy. Have to keep alert when parking, making sure that the space is free from debris the could damage vehicle tires.
I was trying to save myself a trip to Home Depot by calling to ask about whether they had a product in stock. 45 minutes later , I was hung up on about 3 times by people who answered the phone then would drop it. I was transferred to the wrong department where that person did not know how to transfer to the correct department. Such a waste of time. I am would rather give my money somewhere else.
Store is a cluster uck for one. Homeless camped out front in droves. Drugs being dealt out of parking lot. Had to stop for a 10 hr brake and no one bothered us not even highway patrol that was across from us, however some Security company banged on door and said we had to move. Keep in mind that The store itself had no problem with it. Security company is a joke.
I came in for some L brackets, screws and other item, it should have been a quick trip. Being a visitor from Hawaii I dont know the layout of this store. Found the screws in the fastener section then spent 15 minutes looking for the brackets, I hunted high and low all the while looking for someone from HD for help. I finally find 3 men standing and talking near the front of the store. I had to interrupt them to ask where to find the brackets, they just told me to go straight to the back of the store and turn left. Luckily I found the pieces I needed.I would have liked to have gone to a place a little better organized if I had to help myself.End of the story is that I got my project done since I had to, could have been done sooner.
No one, and I mean not 1 person in the store, knew where anything was or how it worked. Also, not interested in finding an answer. I know its because they have hired people who just work there and dont want to be bothered. 1 exception, after my 4th visit did I find a young employee who could not answer any questions but worked hard to find someone who could and apologized after that failed. Who does home depot employ? Visit local hometown hardware stores and avoid this knowledgeable pitiful hone depot crew. Know what you need first. Home depot employees cannot help. I have dozens of examples. (Read the home depot. Employment application and you will see these big box stores are pushing product with underpaid, untrained staff. I was asked by an employee, when shopping for a tiolet where my husband was, after asking for info on installation... Big box store. No knowledge. Shop local.
5 stars to the employee who helped me today; his name is Steve & hes a retired plumber. EXACTLY who I needed to get the correct equipment and info to clear a stubborn toilet clog!! HE. WAS. AWESOME ❣❣ Thats saying A. LOT. for this place!! I generally dont shop here and still only give 3 stars because I HATE giving our hard earned $$ to the EVIL G.O.P./Trump folks who seek to make OUR lives harder!! But I was DESPERATE, having gone 14+ hours with NO functioning home toilet!!😉
Ill say this about Home Depot . I have no opinion when I have pre-selected Topix I dont like what is happening to our stores. Not just the home Depot but all stores in general. No problems with the home Depot I go to it is great I know what Im getting when I go. Thank you.
I had mixed results with the installation of my carpet by the Home Depot installers. First the installers did a very good job on the actual installation of the carpet. The problem was I paid for moving furniture and to have the old carpet removal. The installers indicated when they got here that they would not move the furniture or remove the old carpet and threatened to walk off the job if I didnt get somebody to move the furniture this ended up costing me an additional $200 to have to man standing around waiting for the carpet to be installed.
Its home depot, what can I say? This one is either more contractor oriented or is slightly larger, I know it has things on the shelf that are just not available at the home depots on my commute at Bridgepoint, Hayward or San Leandro. There are always labourers waiting for work, if that is your need. There is also a homeless encampment here, which feels safe, but might be intimidating to some.

2022-04-064/5/2022Worst place to be at to get any home improvement items. One cashier with a long line. Wait in line for 10 min. Line did not move. Left store without buying any items. Not sure how management have one cashier working alone.

2022-07-05HD has everything to complete my DIY kitchen remodel! 3x6 Tile and grout for back splashes, SS refrigerator, stove and hood, ceiling mtd. lights and primer & paint. I did the tile work myself after viewing YouTube videos. I saves approximately $2000 by doing the tile work myself.I removed the cabinet doors, primed and painted all sides. I saved the existing hinges and spray painted them. This gallery kitchen remodel took me over a month to complete since I would work on it in the evenings and weekends.Friends and relatives can’t believe the before and after remodel. It turned out exactly like I imagined but the hardest part was doing the tile work. 🥹

2022-03-26This home depot in particular is pretty cool because you have the McDonalds over there. Also you have the 24 hour fitness area. The area just needs to a little bit more clean around the area. So that more clients or guests can come and patronize the businesses in the area.

2022-05-30Worst Home Depot around because they apparently hirethe Oakland police (at $150/hour) to do their security. Today I drove to the back to see if there was a small piece of scrap wood that I could use for a project. This office/rent-a-cop/security- guard rolls up and tells me I cant be there. I tell him theres no sign posted for no public access. He doesnt care and continues to rudely insist I leave. Good thing I dont have dark skin or I might have had a gun drawn on me or wound up shot. How is it that Home Depot can hire on duty cops ?!? I guess Oakland wants to protect their business tax revenue. But...its the tax payers money that still goes to purchasing and maintaining the cop cars. So...equal protection under the law? Not when its for sale to the highest bidder. Im pretty sure that a little old lady living in a high crime area couldnt hire the Oakland police department to sit in a cop car outside her house to do security.

2022-02-22Nice clean store. I had my two small dogs with me and they were allowed in. Everyone had a mask on. Oakland police at the exit door. Lots of people looking for work outside at the entrance. Employees knew where items were. The street leading to the store was cluttered with haul away trucks, a couple vendors and homeless vehicles.

2022-02-22Im from Atlanta the home of Home Depot owned by billionaire Arthur Blank (owner of the Atlanta Falcons) and divorcee of the owner of Lowes.. Why do I bring Lowes into this, simply, the lay out of the store leans toward homeowners (think women) and they have great customer service which this Home Depot lacks considerably.. Dont go in there looking for help, you better know the store, you better know what you want, because to find someone to help youre going to go tired, thirsty and hungry and old!.Im not joking! The taco truck out front isnt bad so get some nourishment before you go in theres also McDonalds. Your children or even you might ask why is there a cop out front all the time? Simply Home Depot was going to close the store because of massive theft (no customer service = no employees on the floor) but they cut a deal with the city of Oakland because the city council/mayor wanted the store in that area. So off duty cops are paid premium by Home Depot. I dont know if the city picks up part of the tab. Our tax dollars at work. Heavy sigh..WarmlyPE

2022-02-15I was looking at a CHAR-GRILLER Smoker for sometime now and when I got the chance to purchase it the price went up $50.00 after speaking with Don at Oaklands Home Depot he honored the original price and had it set aside for me at the service desk. When it was time to pick up, the two associates that helped me were nothing but professional and pleasant helping me. Then it was time to get it in the back of the truck I really thought I could do by it myself but no way. So I flagged down a young man working for Home Depot that was gathering shopping carts and with his help got it in the truck and was on my way the young man was very shy but I really want him to know I really appreciate his help. The surrounding area of Home Depot may not be very appealing but the store is nothing but the finest.Thank You

2022-05-23The store is good, I ve been to Home Depot several time and found everything I need. You can buy home cleaners even cheaper then they are in any other store, in garden section you can find any plants you want, you can buy everything you need for your house. The only improvement in Home Depot I would like to see is faster line movement during checkout and cashiers be in time.

2022-06-07This store should not be the first store you visit if you needs any form of customer support . My experience at this store is not favorable . Workers walk around with headphones in there ears and ignore you when you beckon them for help. The really fast talking guy from paint department, his customer service is so bad , that its best you avoid him. Do remember to Doulble check the measurement of blinds after they are cut by home depot representatives.
