This place is crazy. A good crazy. A music lover, geek, science fiction, thrift store , toy collector and all things pointless kind of crazy. A true Cave of Wonders. For the person who has everything theres definitely something here you dont have and probably dont need but you want it anyway 😜
Vinyl records. Video games. Collectibles. And more. My girlfriend and I come almost weekly and always manage to find a way to spend money in there. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful! Unfortunately nearly all of the Pop! Funko are stored in the window and have sun fading type damage, which is a shame. Also a lot of the used clothing and collectibles are laughably overpriced. Besides those complaints, this is one of my favorite stores to visit regularly!
Rewritten review:Revisited earlier today and its much better than I remember it being. Most CDs are priced decently and in good condition, plus the store is clean. Organization is a trainwreck however and really diminishes my score because its super difficult to find anything specific.5/10
Recently went to the Cave this past weekend. I am a huge fan of their stores but the Folsom location has gone downhill. So messy and cluttered and nothing it organized. So many vinyl records but none of them are alphabetized which only make things harder to find. It makes no sense. Until the Folsom location literally cleans things up I will not be going there anymore.
Don’t buy the pre packaged Pokémon packs. There employees claim you can pull good cards. They are 5.99 each and I opened over 30. It is all re packaged bulk junk. Each card they give you is literally worth 3 cents or less. Really disappointing seeing LGS take this deceiving route.Ps: ended with around 20$ worth of useless bulk after spending 200+, not one holo pulled, not one reverse. Absolute repackaged Junk.
Probably the best record selection in the Sacramento area. Lots of new vinyl - if you need it, they probably have it.Demerits for the utter lack of organization. How hard is it to have sections for Star Wars toys, Marvel toys, sports memorabilia, etc? The toys are all over the place - zero organization, they just throw things on the shelves. I don’t bother digging because it’s impossible.
I call this a record store, and it does have quantities of vinyl and CDs, but its so much more with movies, video games, clothing and an overwhelming amount of collectibles/toys that dominate the interior. The top shelves in the cd aisles are covered with toys. Overall, the look is cluttered.
One of the coolest stores I have ever been into! Vintage toys, vintage games, modern games, systems, posters, cds, vinyls, clothing, you name it and they had It. So cool and prices were very fair! Such a awesome place. Would recommend to anyone they literally have something for all everyone to enjoy!
The Cave has become my favorite record store in town. If you miss Dimple Records you gotta check it out. They trade in Games, Band T-Shirts, Toys, ect. I always get a really good deal when I trade stuff in and am usually pleasantly surprised by how much they offer me. They offer store credit or cash that’s a little less. They also have great customer service and are super knowledgeable. They have people who have specialized knowledge in collectibles, games, music. I have a lot of fun just talking to them. I can’t recommend this place enough. 5 stars all the way!
I found it to be a very interesting store overall. It has a bit of a hoarder feel about it, with barely any organization about it. This actually lends itself to the pleasure of the treasure hunting adventure digging through haphazardly placed items on shelves and the utter randomness of the used video games section. I particularly enjoyed the huge collection of Funko Pops, also placed randomly, with no rhyme nor reason to subject, collection number or any other discernable organization pattern. This is definitely a fun place to explore.
Definitely horrible customer service and huge lowballers when it comes to trying to sell items to them. They even went out of their way to block me on Instagram after me and another customer/user left a comment about the situation. No wonder dimple record had to closedown 🤷🏽♂️
Brought in an extremely collectible and sought after item, I had it appraised by one other similar store and a collectible expert. The materials that made up the collectible alone were $500+ more plus the value of the collectible for a total of around $1,500. The Cave offered me $4. Not joking.I also sold a Gucci Belt with an authentication Card and serial number. It was purchased for $650 and I was told over the phone “we definitely take that sort of thing, we could definitely give you at least $300”. I dropped it off and when I came to get my money I was offered $14 or $25 store credit. The place is messy, gross, Dimple wannabe. Staffed by rude Music school dropouts and those who can’t cope with the fact the 90’s are over lol. They lure you in with nostalgia, then try to buy your things for 1/1000th of their actual value and try to sell you a $60 t shirt because it’s “retro”. You’re better off going anywhere else that’s not here.
Super Cool place to find old Dimple - Record store - toy collectables. If your into this kinda thing you could spend hours here. Everything is priced reasonably and saves you the trip of going to the bay area. And supporting a local store instead of going online. The only 2 issues is Even though the store clean - is extremely cluttered with one of a kind items. And unless you go on a day the plazas DMV is open *hint* there isnt a public restroom in any of the stores or gas station ... we were told to try Walmart?! ... we ended up tipping the recently opened Asian restaurant with $3 to use theres just in the nick of time.
Went in to sell a few items for my son. I understand that its a business and you need to make money. Being a seller myself, I understand. But, to give pennies on the dollar and then turn around and sell at eBay prices should be considered robbery. We will not be back after being insulted with your below low ball offer.
I love the cave its one of the only places that I can enjoy the hunt for horror movies however the staff seemed too lenient with not saying anything about those not wearing masks especially when I brought to their attention A lady who not only was not wearing a mask also seemed to be putting DVDs &c ds into her mouth to hold them while she read another one and then placing it back on tothe rack 👀It was just a bit mind blowing to me that they didnt say anything about it considering the damage it could do to others!!Other than that my experience was pretty good just like every other time👍
The Cave is a fun visit because there is so much to dig through and so many pop culture treasures to find. However, Im rating two stars because while Im a fan of the eclectic selection and enjoyable music played overhead, it is dirty, disorganized, and many items are unfairly overpriced. CDs that are priced $2.99 are heavily scratched and unplayable. Shelves are stuffed with a range of collectibles covered in dust or other dirt, even the plastic packaging of some items are dirty. I found a shirt covered in crusty food that had rubbed crumbs onto other clothing in the rack. Many items were overpriced such as some stickers. I found Rasputins Music stickers priced at $3.99 that are given away FREE at Rasputins. Im definitely going to go back to shop, but I do so wary of their pricing and general sanitization.
Called in and was told they give about $1 trade in credit for each DVD on average. Drove 20+ miles with 20 majority Like New condition movies and was offered less than half of that (trade in credit) for about 13 of them. They seem nice enough but Im out gas money and time because of what they told me over the phone
I visited this place for the first time today. My dad suggested we check it out because he knows I get toys to put on pony bead/kandi necklaces and bracelets, plus he wanted to see what older stuff they had. Ive been on a retro toy kick, so I was excited to see what they had.Though I did think all the old school stuff was awesome, like other reviews said: they are VERY disorganized when it comes to the toys. Stuff was piled, seemed tossed onto shelves, etc.I dont know how much was on careless customers or how the staff arranged it, but its a pain to search for toys when theyre strewn about or in no real order. This and how they bundle some toys together. For example, I saw a Care Bears figurine- but it was bundled with an assortment of other toys. I would understand if it was all action figures or something like that, but it doesnt seem theres a reason or theme to it.Aside from the negatives, I am happy with my purchase I made. (A 2001 Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls plush, a sheet of cat stickers, and a McDonalds Build a Bear toy)To me, the prices seemed reasonable for what they had.Would I visit here again? Probably. If there was at least some organization, thatd make me much happier.
This place is a thrift shop, a toy store and a dimple rolled into one. Their band shirt section is really impressive, theres tons of great extreme metal bands in there that you wouldnt expect. This place is an amazing salute to the dimple that used to be here. If youre into nerdy stuff, music, or thrifting this place is a must. The staff is always extremely friendly too.
This is my favorite place to go for comics, Funko pops, video games, and movies. It really is my favorite store in Folsom. Whenever I go to The Cave, I always come out buying more than I came in for, they have so much to offer it’s a real cool place. Very nice people. The only downside is that I really want them to sort their Funko Pops into categories so when I want to find one, I don’t have to go looking through their huge selection, some of the Funko pops aren’t even in the funko pop area and they’re on the shelves in the music section. The one thing that I want from this store is organization in the Funko Pop section, other than that, this is an awesome store! 👏🏻 😄
If I were to describe this place in one word, it’ll be “Phenomenal” place is very friendly & they always have something that’s classic. Visited about a couple times now and still stop by every other time and I always left with something good. Highly recommend this place!
Went in to buy a Funko pop. They said someone put it on hold and did not let me buy it, even though I was there in person.A week later I called and tried to put a Pop on hold. They told me they cant do holds and everything is first come first serve. Cant recommend this place for collectors.
It was sad to see Dimple go but thought the son was just going to carry on with a few tweeks. So disappointed in how store looks. Between the old clothes and the old toys and disorganization I saw in the folsom store it kinda turned me off. Hospice stuff at designer prices. Plus they keep moving stuff around or getting rid of stuff all together.
I first heard of this place a few weeks ago, through a random search. I didnt realize it just opened at this location. I took my young kiddos in, because they love cool finds and would rather have something vintage than new. A trip to this place was a reward for my oldest, and he has been looking forward to it. The employees were kind, and everything was grouped together except what my kids were looking for, which was toys, and those were disbursed throughout the store on the tops of the album racks (this used to be Dimple) which makes sense because there are so many. I am not knowledgable about vintage toys, so I cant speak to the rarity, etc., but I can say there was a pretty decent selection of matchbox cars, action figures aka guys, a ton of Star Wars items (of course inventory is always changing so dont rely on my statement) and figures/figurines from 80s and 90s movies and sitcoms. With all the awesome items I was seeing left and right, it was like stepping into my childhood. 1980s Fisher Price Medical Kit, original Buzz Lightyear, Spiderman lunchbox, gigantic 8 foot tall game of Operation (actually functional) the list goes on. There was also a room filled with clothing items, which looks like it is still growing, a wall of random hats (THANK YOU!) and a ton of VHS and DVDs. There is a section for music instruments and items like guitars, books, etc. Cassettes, CDs, vinyls, and videos tage video games. There is also a nice selection of novelty items. We picked up some pretty awesome stuff. The kids were happy, and so was I. The owner chatted with us for a bit, which he informed me they are always looking for items! No appointment needed. Dig out all your vintage stuff, and bring it here. With so much going in landfills, or donating it to Goodwill which doesnt give back nearly what it should, I am so happy to have a place like this as an option. It was like eBay in person. Definitely a fun place to go, even if youre just wanting a bit of nostalgia.
A ABSOLUTE TREASURE- The best. I believe you can find just about every collectible ole school toys, board games, comics, used and new CDs,DVDs, Albums, sports jerseys, marvel, star wars, even a huge life side Operation Game. And all those old TV series that we can never forget. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable helpful friendly.
This is a place to shop for vintage , nostoglic type items. Most items are used. They have CD s dvds vinyl records , clothes, shoes , video games ,tee shirts , toys all kinds of stuff. They sell and trade items. I love this place. I spent hours looking at stuff. You have to check it. out. Must see for yourself.
This place is awesome. Right next door to DMV in folsom, so its a great way to spend your waiting time to pick up some shot glasses, a cool coffee mug, some awesome comics, a chewbacca mask, an AC/DC t shirt , a dollar bin WHAM cd to stuff in your buddys stereo and crank the volume knob for a good joke and BAM. DMV text you to get ready and your out of there.
DONT BE FOOLED PEOPLE!!! These are the same people from dimple records who dont care about their employees or customers. They DO NOT give raises to any employees, they only pay minimum wages, the turn over rate is extreme. While employees struggle with bills the owners buy new vehicles for themselves, take lavish family vacations, use the company finances to pay for clothes, gifts etc. I for one will never step foot in this store. These people are crooks. #boycottthecave
Used to buy from Tower Washington State,Arizona and the Republic of California and loved there listening stations! Been to the ambeba Hollywood, seems like seems like you need a listening station to comunicate to some of the the staff back there? They guesing what I was going say and do? Please lay off the 🎸 rock star energy!

2022-05-07This store is full of comic books, books, music memorabilia, including cassette and VHS tapes, Cds, vinyl, classic toys, video games and video game collectibles, vintage clothing, shoes and accessories, electronics, action figures, candy and much more. You can spend hours browsing and still not see everything. Loved it. Great night!

2021-11-06Just like Dimple. Miss that place. Cave makes up for the loss. Not too fond of the mask policy though. They still have my Wild Berry brand incense. Best brand ever. Cool place.

2022-07-14I’ve sold quite a few items to the Cave but my most recent visit was the most unsatisfactory. I would not recommend selling your items to them unless what you have cost you nothing or you have no attachment to it. In my last buy back, I was told I would be receiving $50+ cash for a set of VHS tapes. I completed the transaction for cash and took the rest of my stuff home. As I was loading my bins into the car, I noticed that they were really light considering that they only bought back some VHS tapes. I went back in the store and sure enough they had all my other items hidden in a place under the table and said that I couldn’t have anything back since I completed the transaction. I would have to buy it back! And even as I sit here, I recognize there were even more items they withheld from showing me what was purchased. It was very much a bait and switch tactic. I let the manager know and they said they’ll just do a better job of showing the buybacks next time… and didn’t offer me anything else. If I could, I wish I could just get cash for my store credit so I wouldn’t have to do business with them again. They basically robbed me threw a few courtesy dollars. So my advice is don’t sell your things here unless you want to get pennies for your dollars!

2022-06-12There seem to be a lot of reviews knocking the organization but we went today and it was pretty organized, much less anxiety inducing than the Arden location. Things weren’t always alphabetical but usually pretty close. The records stored under the main browsing area didn’t seem to have a rhyme or reason but that was kind of fun.We like sorting through the hot wheels for our son too and appreciate having a wide selection for just a $1 or $2. Employees seem nice enough and there’s always fun stuff to look at. Clothes and shoes are higher than a thrift store but not too high. You will find some great rare treasures here that will be high priced though and for good reason.I just really wish they had a customer bathroom though, at either store. Chronic illness makes me cut my trips short sometimes due to this.

2022-06-22Great place to sell stuff. Staff are super friendly. I sold two boxes of bluray disc movies and got ~90 bucks. Not bad. It does take time for them to re iew your items. Mine took almost two hours. Cash payback is straight forward. You get as soon as you accept their purchase offer. I forgot to ask the name of the lady who helped me. Shes very kind and friendly. Ill sell more stuff later. Thanks again The Cave!

2022-06-21Love this place. I find some good gems here. But I wouldn’t recommend selling anything. I sold 2 funkos here the other day. Gave me $7 for both then. Turned around and sold them for a lot more. I felt CHeated but now I know not to sell anything here and sell online instead. But I’m a big fan of the store. So I’ll always come back to find some good stuff.

2022-06-15Worst record buying experience ever! I was on vacation and had been going to record stores throughout the state and happened to come across this one. Not only does the staff have absolutely no idea what they have minus what they get from their distributor, but nothing is where it is supposed to be. They have boxes with bars on top for their more “Expensive items” that you have to have an employee unlock and it makes it hard to dig through. Their records are not alphabetical or separated by genre. When I asked about it the employees told me that the owners specifically asked them to disorganize it more! I will not go back, I honestly don’t know how they stay in business.

2022-05-24SELLERS BEWARE, zero ethics in their business practices! My son rides his bike everywhere since I am a single mom. He made the mistake to not lock his bike one day when grabbing a drink and his bike was stolen by a homeless man. Since it was ultimately my son’s fault, I am having him come up with the money to replace his bike. So he gathered his PS3 system, a Gameboy Advance with 6 games and other miscellaneous games, etc. to bring to The Cave for him to get some money. Since we had never sold at The Cave, I had called first several days earlier and they made it clear that we have to stay in the store during the buy so I planned accordingly for one trip to Folsom. Upon arrival they said they keep everything and will get back to us within 7 days. Ok, another trip to waste gas… all good. I came back to the store for my buy back and, while not getting into the low prices offered, I said I will keep the PS3 and the Gameboy Advance to sell myself online. I cashed out on a small pile of games and gave the money to my son. Once home, I reposted the Gameboy advance set online and sold it (at least 5x as much as they offered) online right way and promised to ship the following day. I got out the Gameboy Advance and opened the case…. The 6 games were missing! Since it had only been an hour since I was there, I called and spoke to the manager Cha Wally-Bowser assuming they would honor the misunderstanding and I could bring them the money for however much those games paid out. I explained the situation and she told me I would have to buy back the games for full price because I ‘signed’. Wow. If it was my fault for not checking the zipped case for my games, then shouldn’t it be just as much their fault for not clarifying that they took something out of my zipped case set? Anyway, I wasted more gas and drove back to The Cave and bought the games back since I had to ship them the following day. After the games being purchased back, three trips to the store and the small pile of other PlayStation games they bought from me, I was out of pocket. And to explain this all to my son was another heartbreaker….. The manager offered to forward my information to her boss Drew Radakovitz or I could contact him at the Sac location, but from the other reviews I’m reading, I’ll never actually get anywhere with him. Combined with Cha’s mention that she already spoke to him and he directed her to not void the buyback. So I’m writing a review and going to let it go. Sellers Beware!
