Ambiance is amazing. Drinks and prices are solid. Lots of space with their new parklet, inside and back patio. Bartenders are straight to the point and efficient.What more could you want from a bar?
Bartender here gave me the flu back in early 2019. The health standards at this bar are way sub par. Great decorations but high odds this place will get you violently ill so if you wanna miss 2 weeks of work and almost die then come on down to the avenue

Bartender is extremely rude. Unpleasant greeting and terrible customer service. I got a cider, had a few sips and then realized there was mold on the rim of the can right where I was drinking from!!! I got up to inform the bartender who ignored me standing at the entrance for 2 minutes. When he finally decided to acknowledge me I told him politely what the issue was and he continued to brush me off and go on to arrange some chairs outside instead of handling the situation. He then walked back when he was finished and took the can out of my hand very rudely without saying anything. No apology, not a word about it. Told me to order food and that was it. Absolutely terrible!!! Would never go back here.

Favorite bar in the bay by far! Great music, their decor is amazing with skateboard decks & cool stuff all over the walls & crevices! Drinks are made perfect. The owner is cool & nice too. The Dark Entry & i love this bar!

After a few good visits, I can no longer recommend this as the chill place I once perceived it as. While I dont want to fault the owners or employees, who are always pleasant and accommodating, its the self described locals who wont hesitate to make a situation uncomfortable.Want a good dive bar experience without hassle? Go to Wolfhound or somewhere other than The Avenue.To be more detailed, a friend of mine sat in front of a small ring toss game on a packed Friday night. After getting a ring thrown at her a few times, and without being asked to move, a man forcefully pulled stool out from where my friend was sitting. When she asked why this man did so, he replied that she, was in the way of my game. The locals prided themselves on standing up for their bar, however, offered no useful advice for upholding any decency and told my friend she was in the way. Because they didnt recognize us, they were okay with a man harassing a woman because he wanted to throw a ring on a hook.Sorry I love this place, but no more after that experience. Unhelpful and uncalled for.
Cool Halloween themed dive bar with a nice bartender! If you want anything fancier than a gin and tonic you might have to explain to him how to make it, but hes got a heavy pour so thats all right. Theres an internet jukebox, a photo booth, a pool table. Sometimes the music gets a little loud, but other than that its a great place to relax and get a drink with a friend. P.S. the womens restroom has some great art inside.
Neck, face and hand tattoos. Skulls and a roughneck Metal vibe. Drinks reasonably priced, bartender friendly. Regulars friendly.But Im chill, and maybe you are a stuck up lame hipster... If so, leave this place alone. Its too precious for you.
An amazing bar is Temescal! Perpetually Halloween themed and they really ball out for Christmas! They serve standard drinks here l, no craft cocktail menu, but an amazing bar
We came here after Burma superstar for night cap. The bar is your typical beautiful dive bar and extra points it was decorated with Halloween stuff. Super fun vibe. Plenty of seating. Bartender was ok. Like I said typical dive bar and it was perfect.
This place is awesome. Cool little metal bar. The bartender served bowls of microwave kettle corn. Her name was Danielle, she was great. Such a good time.

I love this bar. Very simple and straight to the point. Come in and get a nice buzz. The staff is so cool and funny. I love them all so much. Especially Ryan. He is hotter than two dudes making out.
Good prices, great staff, and the spooky aesthetic is so dang cute. Great place to watch some sports or just kick it with some friendos. Make sure to hit the photo booth for some cute memories.

What can I say, the people make the bar and in this case something is missing. Please dont take it unkindly cause there are a few really nice people but they are vastly out numbered by the ones with issues. True that! Its a place i definitely would not recommend to friends. Take your chances and choose wisely.
One of a kind decor (this alone is worth a visit) and cool staff. There’s really comfortable seating in the back. Good variety of drinks with lower prices than average.

The Spirit Halloween Store Clearance Section threw up inside a dive bar and the bartender made me feel weird about ordering tonic waters all night and still I had a good time. You can too!
Fun bar in one of the liveliest parts of Oakland. Easy to become regular. Theres a pool and arcade game. You have to have quarters to play the game but they wont change bills to change in the bar for some reason 😕
It always feel like its Halloween when I gon in there. Generally I have a few brews and play a game of pool. The other day. I beat the ring swing Game. Which is probably the hardest game they have and everyone was clapping. Legit.
This bar was absolutely terrible!! Horrible service and horrible bar tending. Waited for at least fifteen minutes, had to ask the bartender for my drinks because they were too busy conversing with friends.When it was last call employee was shouting rudely and kicking people out. Couldnt believe how horrible this place was. Definitely never going back! Save your money and go to a different bar or buy alcohol from liquor store.
Went here last night. Place was the worst service ever. They probably only friendly to punk rockers lol i almost KNOCKED out the short black dude for tellin my lady they no serving. Didnt have the balls to tell both of us that but waited until i went to bathroom. Never go there again.

This used To be a great dive. Lately its been taken over by narcotics undercover police looking for the lord knows what. So the patronage are mostly police. Good. for badge bunnies. Id stay clear. Sad.
Fun decoration, music was fun too but doesnt go at all with the decoration (which actually makes it fun!). Easy location for finding parking.

Not sure why this is labeled a sports bar, its more of a dive bar with pinball, pool, and photobooth. Lots of character and fun times.

2022-02-22Just recently went here and kinda upset I haven’t been here before. I love the skeleton chandeliers. This place is awsome to grab a drink with some friends. Some cool games in the back too.

2022-04-02I live fairly close so I have frequented this place at times.Patrons are usually friendly and entertaining.Bar staff are friendly and efficient.Theres usually a wait on the pool table, but the wait isnt that long.If you like good friendly neighborhood environments.this is the place for you!

2022-04-12The avenue is a Telegraph staple and an excellent dive bar. The drinks are simple but strong. Crowd is friendly but just a hair rowdier than a typical bar in this area and thats not a bad thing.

2022-05-08When I visit from out of town we always make a stop at the Avenue. Its my friends favorite bar. Its a dive but Ill be honest I like divey bars. Cold beer on tap and good drinks. Cheers.

This concept isnt supposed to be so well executed and yet it is.Everything in this place should be dusty and gross, but its shockingly immaculate. With so many knickknacks and objects cleaning this place should be a headache. The toy collection is out of this world.Well done!
