OMG is the only word for this place. Right next to the twin lakes, very cozy lodgings with an amazing lobby and bar area with a fire place and live piano. The restaurant is fine dining quality and was an absolute delight (I tried the elk chops, soup of the day and crème dessert). Check in and check out was a breeze !
Tamarack Lodge & Resort has excellent customer service! The staff went out of there way to make sure we were completely satisfied with our room. The manager and Michelle (front desk) were so kind to us. We wanted to share with others what a beautiful place this is; from the views, the cabins, the restaurant and every staff member we came into contact with was top notch. I highly recommend this place if you want to fully relax and unwind.
So impressed with this place! First of all, twice that I’ve been up here they have kindly accommodated rearrangements due to weather and early check ins. On top of that, the cabins are absolutely adorable and have a warm home feeling. The staff is so nice and wonderful with attending to needs. This will be my place of choice for any future visits to the mountains!
My daughter visited me on Fathers Day weekend, so I made reservations at our favorite restaurant - Lakefront at Tamarack Lodge by the Lakes above Mammoth Lakes. I had a beautifully presented pair of elk chops - I can still taste them. Another wonderful evening with my girl!
We were married in the lodge and had our wedding night dinner here in 1999. We also stayed in a cabin for our 5-year anniversary. White-out blizzard both weekends, snow-shoeing in an oncoming blizzard was FUN! Wonderful staff, fantastic restaurant and a great rustic-but-elegant atmosphere. The photos here are accurate.
I worked here as a breakfast server & lodge bartender and it was an amazing place to work. The view of the back of Mammoth out of the dining room window is incredible. The food is delicious and pretty. This is a great place if you want some untouched beauty and relaxation!
We have been visiting the lodge for dinner for years. We camp at Twin Lakes every year and make it a point to make a reservation at the lodge for dinner. Last year and this year the food has not been that good. We will not make a reservation there next year during our visit to Mammoth.
What a great place! The cabins are so comfortable and very affordable. The staff super helpful and the view is gorgeous. We highly recommend dinner in the lodge. A very good food and wine menu offering and attentive staff. We stayed in October when the season is slower and loved the peace and quiet.
Beautiful older historic ski lodge. Built in 1924, we loved the ambiance, earthy log cabin decor. Rooms are smallish but the bed is soo comfortable. Has a sink in the the room but the bathroom us down the hall.Located across from a stunning lake we hired kayaks and explored the pristine waters. The lake is fed by a cascading waterfall! Who has their own private waterfall?!?!. Stunning! A haven for fishermen were saw them jumping on our paddle. There is breakfast with the room but the restaurant is a fine dining experience.Be sure to book.We loved Tamarack Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer.Friendly staff
Worth it for the incredible scenery. The rustic feel is cute, but better breakfast (yellow bananas vs brown) and rooms where you couldn’t hear neighbors would be nice. its easy to overlook minor issues when faced with scenery like this. The walking is lovely, the wildflowers are everywhere in summer and while we didn’t see bears, it was fun to look. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
We have been coming here for years. Its the best views in Mammoth Lakes. And so convenient to everything. Soooo romantic. The night sky plus the sound of the waterfall in the distance equals the best night ever. Plus, the restaurant is 5 stars! If you love history like I do, come to Tamarack Lodge, you wont regret it!
Wonderful place, close to the city of Mammoth Lakes but very quiet. Service is superb! The facility itself is rustic but very charming and relaxing. The cabin we stayed had a small full bathroom and a nice little kitchen, fully equipped. There is a great restaurant in the lodge. There are hiking and fishing in summer, cross-country skiing in winter.
We would like to thank the staff at The Tamarack Lodge in Mammoth...specifically, Adrianna & her team...Brian & his team...& last but not least, Miss Rene. They were all most kind & helpful to us as we had some very unexpected car trouble & these 5 very special individuals made it easier for us to cope with the stress we endured. We hope to see you again in the near future ..even if only to say hello! :)
I really liked this place! Even though we had to share a bathroom (I used the downstairs one since we arrived at 2am and only stayed for the night), the price was great! It felt VERY homely here and cozy. The downstairs eating/resting area was very welcoming and warm. Breakfast was great and the staff was more than friendly. It was also very close to the resort (Mammoth Mountain). I would definitely come here again!
From check in to check out, we had a great time. They offered us tasty hot cider upon check in. We rented board games and they had live music. The cabins are adorable. Loved the cute fireplace. Super warm and cozy.Their continental breakfast was great as well. I would recommend staying here for sure.
An incredible spot that feels like a hidden gem, even though its filled with adventure opportunities and close enough to town that it doesnt feel remote. The kitchenette had a full set of amenities - all you need is your food, which you can get from a few local groceries and chains. The fireplace was a bit confusing - it seems to turn on automatically when the temperature dips below a certain level past where the heat is set.The cabins are gorgeous and provide an amazing view of the lake and mountainous terrain. I felt totally comfortable kicking back and watching the weird looking chipmunks run around.I didnt try the restaurant, but the bar was homey and decadent at the same time - in a good way.The staff is friendly and capable.I stayed in June for a late-season snowboarding trip to Mammoth Mountain and will definitely visit again.
If you want to live the real experience of a cabin this is the place. It has a lot of history and the personal its super nice. You obviously need a car to go to the ski zone and in winter you need to be careful sometimes the road to go out its block. But the Tamarack work hard to keep it clean for you to come and go. Very nice place
This place is amazing. Ive been chiming up here for about 14yrs now and it just gets better every year. The cabins are a little on the high side of pricing but camping is only $24 a day. Tons of places to hike, fish and site see. Fun family atmosphere and a great place for all ages.
It’s like Cabin in the woods. You can rent studio two or three bedroom independent house. We rented three bedroom house. Rooms are clean and cabin comes with all basic amenities. Internet was surprisingly fast. Bathrooms are little small though.Views are amazing. There are lot of hiking and tracking trail. You can rent bike or just sail the boat in beautiful lake.Restaurant on site is great. You need to make reservation. Quail is great and they also have Elk.Bartender makes some of the greatest cocktails.I don’t know about AT&t Sprint or T-Mobile but Verizon has very bad converge here. You won’t get 4GLTE at all. Even 3G drops.
If you like nice, comfort and the beauty of the wilderness then these wooden cabins with gas old time heaters and instant hot water are the way to go. We also had a nice kitchen with fridge and stove including pots pans and utensils . Reasonable priced and continental breakfast included. We really liked this place, nestled in between towering mountains and next to a beautiful lake and waterfall.
The location of the lodge is amazing but the lodge itself is sub par. The shower water was super hot and couldnt mix cold water with it. So it was impossible to take a shower. To be fair, they did give a discount of $20 for the trouble but I would rather have a comfortable stay rather than a $20 discount. The bathroom is teeny tiny. Motel 6 bathrooms are bigger.
Loved our cabin and the location and property can not be beat! We got there late and they stayed open for us to check in (after 10pm). When we opened the cabin door in the morning ... WOW, what an amazing view! It has everything ... shuttles to every where, close to Yosemite and much more, great helpful staff, a great restaurant, bike and kayak/canoe rentals and such a beautiful place to just walk around and soak up the beautiful ambiance of nature. I would highly recommend the Tamarack to anyone who enjoys nature more than the city! Did I mention the staff ... Super people and go out of their way to help make your stay the best that it can be!!!!!!!!!!
This was my 1st time in Mammoth, and we couldnt have picked a better place to say. The cabins are well appointed with all the amenities youd need to prepare your own meal, like the fish you may have caught that afternoon; however, the restaurant is amazing! Im a bit of a food snob, so my expectations were low being that its a mountain town, but boy was I wrong! The food was incredible, as was the staff...Im salivating while writing this. The Tamarack Lodge staff were also amazing. We got caught up in bad LA Friday traffic so we were running late. The front desk (Matt) phoned us to make sure we were okay. The other guests were so nice. On both nights we had a huge campfire with music, beer, and conversation. It was also snowing when we arrived and it was gorgeous. I also had the opportunity to watch the Falcon 5 launch which was breathtaking. If you and your family and friends want to get away for a few days, this is the place you want to go, its also dog friendly.
We went there for a tour of the facilities last year and was shown a very nice and upscale three bedroom cabin. Decided to go and stay there this winter and made my reservations online which only gave me the choice between a studio and a “three bedroom cabin“. I booked the three bedroom cabin. Cost was $800 per night. We were staying 3 nights. When we arrived the Friday before Christmas, the cabin we were given was like a rundown shack. Nothing like the cabin we had seen before. We were told that the other cabin was a “deluxe“cabin but that we had booked AN “historic“ cabin. I showed him the email with my reservation that Nowhere said the word “historic” or “deluxe”. Very misleading. We didn’t even unpack our things from the car but instead booked a Two bedroom condo at the Village Lodge BUT ended up having to pay an additional $150 per night to stay there. Ugh.
Tamarack Lodge & Resort is a jem in the high sierra! You can stay in either a room in the lodge or a cozy cabin. I stayed in a rustic cabin and it was fantastic! The cabin was very quiet and had a large queen bed with an attached private bathroom and a full kitchen. All of the cabins are surrounded by large pine trees of various types; the whole property is located in a densely wooded area on the shore of Twin Lakes in Mammoth Lakes, CA. I will definitely stay here again when visiting the eastern side of Yosemite National Park.
Cant speak to the Resort aspect of the place but the cross country lodge is fantastic. Very friendly staff, gear was well maintained and in good supply this winter. Great prices for all day/half day snowshoeing or cross country rental options. Head up to the lakes and enjoy the views.
Unit 20. Just remodeled. So everything was like new, including windows and blinds. It was comfortable inside while about 40 degrees outside. We slept on top of the bed. The unit is like a studio apartment. But cozy. The shower was hot. We never turned on the gas heater. Having dual pane windows kept the unit quiet. If the were bears mulling about outside, we never heard them.
This review is only for the Nordic ski resort (although the lodge and restaurant are incredible too). I took a cross country ski lesson from an instructor here and have since then greatly enjoyed taking advantage of the facilities. There are a large variety of well maintained runs and the rental/instructional quality was excellent. Prices are reasonable and Ill always try to stop by when Im in Mammoth for a change of pace when skiing!
This place is amazing!!! Staff is super friendly and will do anything for you. Pricy but worth it to be in the woods and have the ability to shower comfortably and sleep safely! They have a fire pit you can use and the staff comes to make sure you have everything you need, cant rave enough about it!! A must for rest, relaxation and fun!!
This must be what sleeping in a poorly insulated coffin feels like: the thick wood panels go all round the 16/16-ft room and they cover the ceilings as well, making it seem suffocating and creepy. Some of the ceiling panels were coming off and revealing some sort of isolation material - I really hoped for a Ceiling Cat but my prayers weren’t answered. It is however better than sleeping in your car and yes, it is clean, including the communal bathrooms and showers. If you wake up early, you can forget about not making much noise while getting dressed: the wooden floors will screech mercilessly regardless of how light your step is. Paradoxically, those thick panels don’t provide much sound proofing so you can hear your neighbors’ comical, anatomical concertos loud and clear.Appliances are Methuselah-old, alarm clocks are intrusive and judgmental: all set to wake you up at 6am. And the “piece de resistance” I missed because it wasn’t stated clearly enough at the time of booking: there is no WC or shower inside the unit, only communal bathrooms. The resort denomination stems from the fact that they have a pool and spa… a couple of miles away (!) Yes, I understand it’s all about the location but a small renovation/remodeling would make a huge difference, modernize the decor a bit, you may keep the rustic mountain cabin theme or else, make sure it’s advertised correctly and honestly. A tent would have provided a very similar level of comfort.Black Velvet Coffee is close by. After a stiff, yet chocolatey cappuccino, thankfully, I started to forget my bad experience.PS: there is an additional charge for towels and incidentals at check-in (not disclosed on expedia or elsewhere). Sad!
Generally, everything is ok because you stay close to Ski center, in the place with terrific views, within the forest. The staff is friendly, helpful, and simply the great people. The restaurant is great. However, if youre looking for something really chic and comfortable, this place is not about that. The cabin is really old. One its corner is lower than other three. The door has so big slots that I can see the motion through them. The refrigerators door doesnt close properly. Wi-Fi is very weak. No TV and other gadgets. I expected to meet something better the Tamarack Lodge offers for that price.
Our cabin was perfect. The restaurant has been our favorite for years, but this time and last year were awful. Service was unreasonably slow, the problem was the kitchen. We had the prime rib steak sliced. So tough we couldnt eat it. Not close to prime. What a shame the restaurant at the lodge has failed so badly. Replace the chef.
Cute and cozy .Great spot for lovers, friends. I stayed here for 3 nights, stayed in two cabins the2 bedroom cabins was Fantastic great place to meet family and friends, stayed as well in the studio cabins a few minor problems that need upgrade. A bit understaff in the F&B department especially in the small cozy Lobby. Restaurant was GREAT though staff need a bit more understanding fro International travelers. Frond desk staff where AWESOME! Huge shout out for DAVE for helping us with our needs. came all the way to our room in the storm to help us with our wifi
Just want to make everyone aware of our experience. Each year my wife and I choose a new ski trip for our wedding anniversary. We chose Mammoth and Tamarack Lodge for this year, sent in our half down deposit,(around $450), and were excited about the trip. Two days before the trip our 10 year old golden retriever had a stroke requiring home care forcing us to cancel our trip. I called to request a refund due to the circumstances. Nope! How about a reschedule, or discount on a later visit? Nope! We were asked if we had purchased the travel insurance which I have never done, and that would have only given a partial refund, so it just seemed like another money-grubbing scheme to make an already expensive trip even more expensive. We will avoid any future trips to Mammoth based on this experience.
Pros: great staff, good breakfastCons: tiny standart room with no microwave/refrigerator, TV.Fitness center, Pool/Spa located 17 min away at Mountain Inn (yes, you have to drive there). Really bad WiFi.Very thin walls, you literally can hear a neighbor in the restroom. There was no shuttle to the Main lodge, as it was promised. The good thing is the roads are driveable, you wont need chains to get to the ski area.Extremely high prices for what you get plus resort fee!
One of the oldest places in Mammoth Lakes, you can immediately tell upon arrival. Not only is it in a fantastic location on the lake, theres excellent food and drinks available very quickly at the bar.I didnt get to try the restaurant since reservations were booked, but taking a look at the menu made me excited to come back. Definitely a great apres-ski spot to have a hot buttered rum next to the fire with an appetizer.
Had a great time snowshoeing (trails are not marked well, at all, so be warned but great customer service-thanks Heidi and Katie!) then enjoyed a wonderful handmade Lavender Gin Cocktail in the Lobby Lounge next to a cozy fireplace enjoying live music from the talented piano man.
We used the kitchen for dinner and stayed with a full cabin of friends. Played games with the fireplace keeping the place toasty and it definitely was needed with the cold temps outside. The restaurant says its open for lunch, but it serves only soup so dont expect to come away filled to the brim unless youre big on chili!
This place is super cozy! If you want something really intimate. What I found to be odd at first was the bathrooms are not in your room. Theyre down the hall. At first I thought it would be weird to be sharing a toilet and shower with other people but the lady who goes around to clean literally leaves it spotless. So I felt comfortable to use them when I needed. The showers have no heating inside and it was snowing the days I went so it was a little freezing but if anything it got me out faster since I tend to take forever. Their breakfast was amazing as well. Downstairs they lit they fireplace and it just had an amazing ambient feel to it. There is no TV in your room. So you had to request one. And theyll give you DVDs. The front desk guy gave us the shining .. which was a great choice tbh because it looked like the place where we stayed in the beginning of the movie so it made it eerie in a good way. Dont watch it there if you get scared easily haha overall I love this place. And if Im ever back in mammoth lakes Ill be going back to this lodge. Beautiful view right out the door. I couldnt of been more happy with my experience.
The resort is tight in front of the twin Lakes. There Is the option of choosing private cabina all around the property or to sleep in One of the rooms of the main Building. The surroundings are marvrlous and so Is the resort, that preservare a very authentical taste. The lobby Is Amazing with its Fire Place almost Always on. I would defintely come back of I haf to be again bere around.
We love Tamarack and have visited for many years in winter for XC skiing directly outside the door. The cabins are simple but comfortable and warm. The surroundings and views of Crystal Crag are awesome. The only reason I knocked it down one star is the cost, which is really quite high for what you get. But we keep paying it so theyre definitely doing something right...
Great hotel, located in a scenic place, 5 mins away from the city. It gets extremely dark and lovely at night, although there are no exterior lights! We took a dog with us, and had a great cabin. Keep in mind that Pet Fee is 35$ a night, so it will add up extremely fast to your bill! They have WiFi, not slow, not fast. Cellular is bad, a little bit of T-Mobile and Verizon 4G LTE service.
I stayed here with my girlfriend this summer. I cannot describe how nice and authentic this place was. Im Danish I would say it is extremely hyggeligt. We had a room in the main building above the lobby small but hyggeligt. A large fireplace in the lobby and small bar with great selection of good liquor. To summarize, we enjoyed it very much. :-)
As a nonskiier this is my favorite place in mammoth in the winter. Great for hiking with your pup on leash. you can rent snowshoes or cross country skis as well. I highly recommend hiking up to panoramic dome, it will tire your dog out and you can see a bunch of the slopes and all the way down the valley from here. Dont miss out on the Lodge spiked cider, it is the best hot cider youll ever have!!!! best kept secret in mammoth.
Cabins too small and too old I think, it need renovation. Cold air coming easily trough closed windows. Heater inside has bad vent it was burned gas smell. Bathroom was terribly cold. No parking spot was available near cabin. Its ok to walk 200 yards but if you have stuff... not going to come back again.
For an expensive night, you can get a small room, with shared bathrooms and a shower down the hall. Dated dated- the shared bathroom has wallpaper that’s coming off, dirty windows and needs a paint job. The “fine dining” entrees are around $60. The area and lake are beautiful, but the lodge needs some upkeep especially when charging the rate they do.
The hotel itself is quaint and has an old school feel, heater takes a very long time to heat up, breakfast is good , Lobby is cozy with the fireplace. Went from the Tesla website to Mammoth Mountain where I booked a hotel room. I called the number associated with the hotel room to confirm ahead of time that there was a Tesla destination charger they said that they did . I called again and got transferred to the call center to fix my reservation because I booked it for the wrong day. I called again to make sure there was a Tesla destination charger they said yes. I show up to find it didnt have a destination charger and had to find a supercharger in town the next day which added about two hours to my trip . The man who checked us in stayed late because of the snow storm to help us out which was very nice of him the man in the morning cleaned off a car which was also kind of nice. I called back the original number I called to confirm the Tesla destination charger who transferred me to call center where I said I would like a partial refund because of the inconvenience of the incorrect information . At which point they said they needed to investigate all the calls and then I need to call the original Hotel I stayed. I called the original Hotel I stayed and they went on to say that the issue was because I called the wrong place after I got off the phone I did some more research called again and again and eventually figured out that The village lodge and tamarick are owned by the same company. Which is where the confusion came from if the companies and the call center would verify specific information regarding which hotel there wouldnt be an issue; now the reason why I thought I was calling the correct number at first was because it was associated with my reservation when I booked it which was on the website Tesla had provided which is associated with several hotels but they are all owned by the same person so the number given for the reservation was wrong but when you call they pull up all your information so tell me what kind of person goes all Sherlock Holmes and says wait a second are you the correct Hotel , if a hotel can pull up your visit reservation then obviously thats Hotel youre staying at actually not ! the call center information given to you will also get you at the same place every time and they can access any reservation for any hotel but it is actually only specific to certain hotels. So after having to call so many different people and being told I had made the error from several different hotels and the call center I finally figured out that its actually an issue of miscommunication from the multiple websites. There is nothing wrong with a company owning multiple hotels whats an issue is if they dont have the correct information going around also if multiple hotels have access to multiple reservations, I wonder if the employees themselves even though theyre associated with such a large chain of hotels. And phone numbers and then somebody who is out of town decides to visit and and potentially could get stuck or stranded because of miscommunication. At this point I could care less if I get a partial refund at all I think its actually ridiculous all the issues I had to sort through just to find the root of the actual problem which had nothing to do with me it has to do with the actual organization of the hotels themselves. I just know I will not stay here or any Associated hotel ever again because of the amount of investigating I had to personally do and how reluctant the hotel was as well as the call center to solve this actual issue all they cared about was investigating and conducting a thorough overview. ** Tesla owners dont stay here.
I can’t express how happy I was with the whole experience. The whole staff went above and beyond just to please us. We stayed at deluxe 3 bedroom cabin. The cabin was very clean, the sheets, the appliances, the cookware everything was as we would stay at a 5 star hotel. Thank you to Ben Gitler, Irene, Pedro and Brian Dowler for the warm welcome. All the requests we had were immediately taken care of. I highly recomend Tamarack Lodge. I didn’t see other cabins, but I was very happy and please with the one we stayed in.
Really cosy lodge beautifully located on the shores of twin lakes a bit outside of Mammoth town. The lounge with the fireplace is incredibly cosy, the rooms feel really warm with all the wood and its all in all a perfect place to stay for hiking, relaxing and apparently cross country skiing in the winter.
Looking for the 100+ year old, National Park style lodge+bar+5*restaurant and cracklin fire in the lobby? This your place. Certainly stop in for a drink, but the restaurant offerings are 5* all the way as well, especially the wild game. The old rooms and old cabins are not so over-the-top, but they might not be the reason you come here.
Cabin did not look like it did in the photos the lodge posted. The chair was so dirty we didnt even dare sit on it. There is no lake view from the cabins, but in fact a view of the back of other cabins (Google earth this to confirm) Pull down blinds were broken and missing. Knives were missing from knife block. Wine opener was broken and unusable. Dust was being whipped up from other cars driving up and down the gravel/dirt access roads to cabins. Total fees came to $250 a night for something that should be $140 a night at best. Wish I would have believed the bad reviews before staying here a week.
No words can describe this place. If you love nature this is it. If you want to get into nature this is it. If you dont care about nature but want a getaway spot away from it all, this is the spot. Regardless, come see the lakes, views, cascades, waterfalls and much more
First off, this is a COVID-19 vacation review. The experience here would be different under normal circumstances. This place is all about location.. location.. location. You have several lakes, and camping areas, along with hiking and bike trails.Cabin #1 is extremely spacious, with room for up to 10 people comfortably (Master Bedroom: 2 adults, Bedroom one: 2 adults, Bedroom two: 2 adults and 2 children, Sofa Bed: 2 children). The kitchen has room for 8 at the table.Internet speed (25mbps down, 1mbps up) and connectivity (2.4ghz only) isnt great, but we were able to have two children attend classes via Zoom and Google Classroom without issue. Streaming YouTube TV or Netflix for a movie after dinner wasnt an issue either. There is a large table in the middle of the family room, which is great for board games. There is no TV in Cabin #1, but you can ask for one and theyll bring it by. The kitchen has a refrigerator, gas stove and oven, microwave along with pots and pans. There are plates, bowls, glasses, cups, and utensils. Be sure to bring some cooking oil and extra paper towels. There are several wall heaters in the cabin, but the Master Bedroom wall heater was broken. The service technician worked really hard on fixing it but said that he resolve the issue without replacement parts. They provided us with several space heaters, which kept the cabin warm. There is a wood Fireplace and they will kindly light it for you if necessary, but I didnt have much trouble doing that myself. The two bathrooms both have bathtubs. The water flow in the shower sufficient, but not powerful. They also have separate rooms for the toilet and shower, from the sinks. This is a nice addition so that someone can use the sink, while maintaining privacy for the toilet and shower room occupants.Outdoor furniture is available in the front porch. Mainly, a picnic table and a couple of wood lounge chairs. Great place to relax with your coffee and look at the lake.Cabin #1 has views of the lake and mountain which are very beautiful, but it also has a view of the road and some noise. Watch out for the delivery and trash truck noise (not sure what day that was). The condition of Cabin #1 and the furniture is adequate, but it is dated and needs a renovation. It is rustic inside and fits the theme that you would expect, but I think some improvements need to be made. Kitchen chairs come to mind, weather sealing around windows and doors, creepy armoire in the master bedroom needs to be removed, and bathroom heaters. There are several other minor improvements, but those are the big ones. There is a great restaurant nearby (within walking distance), which would probably be difficult to, but we didnt have any issue getting food to go and a table on a week night. The staff provided us with excellent service and the food was delicious.Overall, it was a relaxing stay and a great place to escape during a pandemic. There were few people nearby and we never felt unsafe. Everyone was practicing social distancing and wearing masks.
So so disappointed eating here. We had been there years ago and had such a special time... great food and drink. This time it was such a disappointment I was undone. We had the chefs special...dover sole and the way it was seasoned and paired was so bad I was surprised and embarrassed. Sone kind of foam topped fish with uneditable Vegis. Some shmeer of baby poo that was the worst mushroom flavor Ive ever tasted. They need to go back to basics. Trout. Potato. Greens. Keep it simple, stupid! Never coming back. At least the service was good. Sorry, just being honest.... So expensive and not worth the heavy bill.
Perfect veiws, cozy cabins, hot showers, great fishing, and breakfast is served daily. The cabins are right on the lake front of Twin Lakes. The lake is stocked twice a week so theres plenty of fish to go around. Beware of wild animals and plant overgrowth in the lake though. If you are fishing with powerbait aim for the bare patches of water. The lodge also has a fish cleaning station with a garbage disposal! You can stay in the main Lodge or in one of the cabins. Cabins come with a kitchen.
Amazing summer locale for enjoying Mammoth Lakes Basin when theyre thawed. Twin Lakes are directly outside where fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking and more are all available. There is a free trolley running between the upper lakes (Horseshoe Lake) and Mammoth Lakes town that stops right at Tamarack lodge, allowing stress free travel to trailheads, sights, or meals in town.
Make sure you dont have a family dealth and need to reschedule your check in date. Even with a 2 week notice and what to reschule for 2 more weeks to get things settled. They keep $328 of your money and wont reschedule without an additional $328 plus the full rate of the room. Sad that people are this money hungry and uncaring in this day and age. Very disheartening that a company can be so greedy. Never again..........

2022-06-28The lodge is in the most beautiful location with great views of the backside of Mammoth Mountain and the lakes. You can easily walk, bike, hike, or boat from the lodge without getting in the car. The town of Mammoth is a quick straight shot 5 minute drive away. We started off staying in the main lodge in a room, which we noted was impressively almost 100 years old but very comfortable and cute. We ended up having a plumbing issue (cant blame the place being so old) and the staff moved us to an entire standalone cabin within an hour of the issue. The cabin was very generous and we were so grateful for the top quality customer service. Id definitely stay again despite the issue we encountered. Such a fun rustic vibe and beautiful location!

2022-04-29The lodge looked inviting with Rustic appearance of lodge in remote country or in the forests. They are built on a big lot and has separate entry way and they are standing alone individually with lots of privacy from their neighbor’s lodges. It’s wooden lounge chair on the every porches for guess to view the nature scenes. It Looks pricey, however, I did not stay there. I was just a passerby and exploring the the lake which has partly frozen and some part of the lake is still has moving water under a thin sheet of ice. It’s bery beautiful place with intense cold and windy on the day I was there. It has nice trails. It’ll be lovely to go explore in the trail. I will love to go hiking in there.on my next trip when I go there again,

2022-03-08Clean, cozy, and beautiful location. Natalie at the front desk was so sweet when checking us in and out. I love when staff are friendly, and communicate clearly. Will be back!

2022-01-25Such a refreshing winter retreat! We stepped through the doors and into a time warp - where we were enveloped in warmth, comfort, and impeccable service. The vintage lobby with a stone fireplace and a tiny bar that served up the most unique and delicious lavender cocktail! Dinner served the most gourmet food - the beet salad and duck confit was perfectly cooked. The understated elegance of the lodge transported us from our busy life to a tranquil respite of yesteryear. We cant wait to go back.

2022-01-17We met the owner Carl by accident when we stopped by to play in the snow. Such a friendly guy and very generous with his time, thank you! The lodge was lovely, cozy, and really clean facilities.

2021-12-12So quaint. We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet stay. Atmosphere, food and service impeccable. I think they could update from thin extension cords to breaker type as we had 2 phones, a tablet, and a c-pap to plug in, it was a challange. The coffee maker is terrible, time to upgrade to Kureg maybe. I dont want to nitpick but in 2021 you kinda need to update just a bit. I still give 5 stars all day long.
