Positive: The metal keys, room decor, and even the smell was like going back in time to my 90s childhood. Its not modern, but its clear it has been well cared for. Extremely clean, great location, and a bit of nostalgia for an elder millenial. Negative: Nothing - go in with realistic expectations and youll have a great stay.
Awesome place, the owner Rusty is an awesome dude and been in mammoth for decades unlike most of the annoying yuppies that are ruining California. The rooms are small but nice, the hotel itself is pretty standard expect for the nice lounge room with very cool decor and the jacuzzi outback. We stayed there for 7 days enjoying the activities and acclimating. The hotel itself is right in the center of the main road making it right in the middle of main mammoth and the village. There is a bus stop right at the corner just 30 feet from the hotel which can drive you around town. The prices are cheap for mammoth at around 140 a night for 7 nights. The pictures below aren’t of the hotel themself but from the lake basin path which you can get to by riding the bus to the village and then the trolley there to horseshoe lake if you want to see the beautiful scenery.
The overall rating for this place is sort of a meh though I dont think it deserves 3 stars. The location was good and the shower was nice though the noise from the other rooms as well as the thermostats stability was so-so. As a final rating, this place probably gets 3.5 stars.
Back again for the 4ᵗʰ time. Rusty & Yessica were friendly as always. Like the new upgrades they doing in the rooms.See you next month. Thanks ⛷🐰Yes, it’s an old building & dated but it’s clean, rooms are big, with mini kitchenette, or try their continental breakfast. Has plenty free underground parking. All Staff were great & friendly while I booked on phone & on my 4 night stay at end of February. It’s an easy 10/15 minute walk to village or jump on the free bus right outside lodge to gondola or ski area. It’s my place to stay all ski season now. Easy located to old town as well. Thanks guys for making it welcoming!See you soon ⛷
Smooth easy check in process, didnt love having to cart everything up four sets of stairs to room. Stairwell smelled of fresh paint. Hotel room was perfect for my fam of 5 and we each had a bed, however daughter complained about pull out sofa bed being uncomfortable. I thought the queen beds were very comfortable and liked that there was a bigger refrigerator/freezer than most hotel rooms and the added aink and ample counter space came in handy. Room was clean but could see wear and tear throughout and the bathroom could use updating. Overall, excellent place to stay for one night in Mammoth.
The rooms are large and clean, they also include a kitchenette with microwave, fridge and sink with dishes and glasses. The awakening and spectacular view, located at 2,400 meters and surrounded by beautiful mountains.Parking is convenient and covered.Very friendly and helpful staff.Breakfast takes place in a very nice large room, unfortunately the breakfast is not very varied and should be much improved.
Older hotel/motel. Its kind of dated. The ground level, covered parking would be great in a snow storm. Rooms are on floors 2 and 3. There is kind of a cool lobby on the second floor with couches and a wood burning fire place. It may have been a fun gathering spot for guests pre-covid. The room I had was quite large and clean but again was showing its age. For the price, I may return.
I had a great experience staying at the Sierra Lodge. AC, microwave, refrigerator, dining supplies, are the extra amenities offered by Sierra Lodge that the other motels in town don’t have. The only slight knock is when they are busy, parking might be an issue, but the staff is very accommodating and will figure something out.
This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. I am impressed with the bathroom. Most hotels in this price range have old, stained shower/bathtubs, but ours was quite new and cleaned every day by the friendly hotel staff. Very comfortable and firm beds. The outdoor hot tub was an added bonus. Front desk staff was helpful and courteous. I would have given 5 stars but the continental breakfast was lacking. They ran out of instant oatmeal packets and there wasnt anyone around to ask for more.
Cozy place, nice covered parking area. The rooms are a little old and could use some minor touch ups but the room had a fridge and a microwave . The hot tub was nice and the room had a patio. The common room was pretty spacious and had a nice design. The staff was very friendly and there were cameras in the hallways to the rooms which is always a plus. I got a good deal online and i would absolutely stay again.
We stayed here in February 2021. It was about $193/night.The room was decent. The interior design was functional. The room featured a King bed and a Sofa Sleeper. The King bed was very comfortable; the sofa sleeper less so.Other guest were very active all night long. Sound traveled easily within the building and made it harder to get good nights rest. The bathroom was functional and clean.Parking was free; in a garage. Staff was attentive. The location was great. Lots of choice for shopping in walking distance. We loved the Coffee Latte from Black Velvet Coffee Shop.
Older building, but surprisingly the room was very up to date. Nice TV in the room an above average size refrigerator. Very clean room. Very comfortable beds. Staff was polite and nice. One thing to be aware of is, like most establishments in the area there was no elavator so pack accordingly. Breakfast was basic. Overall I would stay here again.
We pulled up and were a little frightened as the exterior is highly run down and in need of a serious coat of paint and cleaning. The room however was very clean. But, the carpeting throughout needs replaced. Also, they state they are handicapped accessible and they are not. Furthermore, the one handicapped parking spot was not in a good location and usually taken by another guest due to limited parking. If all you want is a clean bed and shower then this is the place for you.
Horrible hotel.First of all, staff is rude and service is SLOW.I arrived at the hotel at check in time yet they made us wait about 40 minutes because room wasn’t ready. Additionally, they state they are “pet friendly” however, I was outside waiting with my dog when she started barking and the staff had the audacity to come out and tell me to “SHUT HER UP.”Rooms were okay, but walls are thin. Breakfast included is not breakfast. It’s a coffee or milk with a bagel- that is VERY limited, serve about 4.Would not recommend.
Lodge is located down the street from the village in Mammoth, reasonably close to the ski resort. The room we had was great! The bed was very comfortable, there was heating, air conditioning, a very large fridge, microwave, and free WiFi. The only thing that was a little tricky was finding the power outlets, but we just had to look around before finding them. They also have a Fireside room to relax and also serves the purpose of where they serve their continental breakfast, which was nice. The staff is very cheery and helpful! They have a covered garage which is very nice. The garage has additional storage that we were given access to and within the garage was a place to recycle which was very appreciated. We stayed for two nights and we will be looking forward to coming back again!
The people are so nice here! I asked a ton of questions when I checked in and the guy answered them patiently. I even asked where the shuttle stop is for the mountain and he walked all the way out to the stop with me because the snow was too high to see it. Would definitely recommend. The room is clean and spacious. Kitchenette was a plus. Would definitely stay here again.
The Sierra Lodge was all set to receive a nice solid 3 star review. Then on check out day, as Im leaving my room, I noticed housekeeping in the room across the hall. There were four housekeepers talked in the room, one apparently a supervisor with the clipboard, and everyones mask was pulled down around their neck. Earlier when one of the housekeepers saw me oh, she pulled the mask over her mouth. But this time I guess I caught them off guard.Ive been here for three days and overall what I saw was pretty good covid-19 compliance. The front desk staff were wearing masks, and there was a hand sanitizer dispenser in the parking garage.housekeeping staff are one of the most significant ways you could catch covid-19 in a hotel. You let your guard down in the room, and you dont tend to sanitize every surface.
We stayed at Sierra Lodge on our way from Death Valley to Yosemite national park. Sierra Lodge lies in Mammoth Lakes and is popular during the winter with the winter sports, however it was the perfect stop for our road trip. The rooms are very nice and contain everything you would expect from a hotel. Additionally, the room contained a small kitchen block with an additional sink. Breakfast was served in a general room with a very nice fireplace. The breakfast itself was as expected, with bagels, a selection of cereals, some sweet pastry, different types of fruit and coffee. Last but not least, the staff is very friendly. We had an issue with our rental car and later on with the reservation of our next lodging and on both occasions the staff was very helpful in suggesting solutions. If we were ever to visit Mammoth Lakes again, we would definitively return here.
Nice amount of space to spread out luggage. Small sofa in the room. Comfortable bed, quiet. The little kitchen area with fridge & mwave was nice to have. It was so convenient having sink in the main room in addition to the bathroom. Shower worked great. Breakfast served at 7am which is good for skiiers who want to get an early start. Yes, its Continental but they have a good variety. Check in check out was the quickest Ive ever had, and Ive stayed at lots of hotels. Covered parking is a big plus. Would definitely stay here again.
On a two week road trip, this was by far the best stay we had. After experiencing the worst customer service experience Ive ever had at a different hotel the night before, Mark at Sierra Lodge went above and beyond the normal experience. Very genuine and attentive. The rooms are nice, clean and provide dish ware and silverware. The free wifi was extremely fast and reliable and the free breakfast was also good. I would not only stay here again the next time Im in mammoth, but would encourage anyone else to.
Its ok. Seems.clean, no bed bugs. Old and the office smells like stale smoke which troubled me but the room doesnt. It does have that old mountain hotel like kinda musty smell. Thats the best I can describe. If I were spending more than one night I would stay at Best Western or Mammoth Lakes Lodge if you want to stay near the skiing.
This is a great, basic hotel. Its nothing too fancy, but its clean and comfortable, and we were treated very nice by the manager, Mark. We had an issue where we were unable to check out on time and ended up having to pay for an extra day (because we checked out at like 6 p.m.), but he gave us a break on the price for that extra half day. Also, our room had a kitchenette, which was a nice surprise. Sink with soap, dishes, paper towels, microwave, and mini fridge. The continental breakfast includes bagels, cereal, pastries and juice, and its held in a cute little living room-style space with a fireplace and couches. The only issue was that there is no elevator, so lugging our stuff up 2 stories was a bit of a pain. But overall, I was very happy staying there.
Tried to check in and found out my reservation I made was for the wrong day. My fault. Lost all my money I paid up front. Good thing was they had one room left and they gave me a deal for the room. The bad about the room is the heater didnt work. And it was cold. Also the roll out couch was broken and wouldnt hold the mattress.Other than that the rooms were good enough and my the continental breakfast was convent. Also close to town.
The lodge may be aging but everything is very clean and the staff was amazing to deal with. Covered parking, kind attentive staff, kitchenette in room, quality free breakfast, hot tub! Also located right in front of a shuttle stop for free rides to the mountain during the day and the Village at night.
We were looking to stay an extra day on our trip to Mammoth but the Inn we were staying at unfortunately was booked, so we did some research and found this place for a reasonable price that had 2 queens, a couch bed and a fridge/microwave which was perfect for our needs. The location is really close to everything. We werent expecting much, the room was small but good for 1 night and the fridge saved us from throwing out food. The windows were big, closet and vanity area was big with really nice lights to put on makeup. The tv was a smart tv, the bathroom was clean and the shower was amazing and brand new. There was no elevator so moving in and out was a bit of a pain but it was ok. They have a nice fire roon with couches, fire place, tv and coffee/tea all day and free breakfast in the morning. The underground parking was perfect if you needed to put chains on and so you had a dry place when taking things out and putting things into your car. Also a free storage locker for snowboards came with the room which was also nice. Overall I was really impressed.
Friendly, helpful staff. Worn, but clean room. As a lone female I could have felt more comfortable security-wise. My ground floor sliding door was unlocked when I arrived and the rooms main door has an old fashion keyed lock&deadbolt. There is no security latch on the inside, and the outer door to the room corridor was open for anyone to walk in from the side street. If I were staying with a friend or group I wouldnt have any qualms about staying there again.
Great spot in Mammoth Lakes. Location could not be better. Close to Pubs and Restaurants. Stayed many times over the years. Spacious rooms and George the owner is a great guy. Knows everything about the area. Dog friendly rooms by request. Clean as can be. The place to stay !!!!
The rooms are a little dated but there are modern additions such as the large LCD TV and the renovated bathroom. I really appreciated how large the rooms and common areas were for the price. The lodge is directly in front of the Red line bus stop so getting to the Village is very convenient.
Sierra lodge is half a mile away from the village. A nice place to stay overnight to get some riding done on the mountains. They offer several amenities like cable TV, a heated jacuzzi, a bare kitchenette, covered parking, and lockers to store snowboards/skis. The lodge serves complimentary continental breakfast which they keep well stocked throughout the morning. The heater will take a minute to kick in and it does not have automatic room air conditioner.
Very plain and basic accommodations not meant for luxury but function. Perfect for skiers on a budget who are not looking for much other than basic shelter. One of the most economical places to stay in Mammoth. A plus is that continental breakfast is free, and not too bad.
My Husband & I are so extremely happy with our stay here. The rooms are outstanding utiful you we have a fireplace up in a lounge area where we have a very rustic very comfortable Surrounding and relax with a fireplace in the eveningClean, very clean my husband works at the Mammoth Hospital and I am a Deputy and we are just enjoying the Sierra lodge so much and the ratings were it says is just two star its not it is a clear 5 star.
Stayed here one night with the family. Convenient location right on main Street. Shuttle just steps away. Good wifi. Good emerson portable AC in room. Everything was ok including basic breakfast, toast, muffins, instant oat meal, milk, oj. The major downside of this place is no elevators, so if youre travelling I with heavy luggage and kids, this may be an issue. They also dont welcome bikes in room. Place could use an upgrade.
Worst customer service. When we arrived late around 11 pm we rang the bell and no one arrived for a little less than 10 minutes. So we started to slight raise our voices because no one was answering, it was late and we had just finished a 8hr drive. We were greeted with stop yelling and it would help if you rang the bell even though we had numerous times and still nothing. Then when we entered the room the TV cable didnt work until the next morning, one of the lights only worked one day. Not the best experience, wouldnt stay here again.
Nice lodge in the heart of Mammoth and easy to Cycle to many bike trails. Inyo crater is close by and just a few blocks from nice shopping. Across the street they have sports bar pizzeria, bakery and more. On the second floor they have their dining hall with full continental breakfast with wide assortment of cereals, oatmeal, hot chocolate, teas, honey, coffee etc. The front desk staff are happy and hospitable. Im knowledgeable about the area too. Id stay here again. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, nice big HDscreen with cable etc. Tmobile and Sprint cell reception is good here.
George, the guy working the front desk, went out of his way to be accomodating. He booked me an airport shuttle for 5pm the day I checked out and invited me to wait that afternoon in the hotel common area after I had checked out. The rooms are basic, what you would expect, but having staff who will do more than what is expected is invaluable to an out of town visitor.
The hotel was nice I could use of redoing. Carpet was out of the 70s and the bed was OK but the location is great, short walk to the gondola. And you cant beat the free breakfast great before a day on the slopes. I wouldnt pay more than $140 but at a $109 it was a good deal.
BEST place to stay in Mammoth! Simple, down-to-earth, and extremely friendly service!!! Convenient! Reasonably priced! Clean! Just what we need on trips there, whether for fun, or doctors, its our one-stop place! Lots of great, and healthy choices for the continental breakfast: toast, English muffins, bagels, pastries, juices, teas galore, coffee, hot chocolate, sereals, both cold, with {their Mammoth Lodge mugs for the bevs, to boot!} and envelopes for instant hot, fresh fruit, all to enjoy in their nice livingroom setting, complete with fireplace, or to take to your room on trays.Rusty, Mark, Daniel, and all the rest of the staff, office, and cleaning crew alike, are always more than happy to be of help.No restaurant on-site, but with the great and popular Angels restaurant right across the street, and terrific Johns Pizza across the highway, {ready to deliver}, I could ask for no more! A+!
BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Forgive me if I get his name wrong, Dondra or Jondra, the nice guy I spoke with around midnight on 5/31/12. You have excellent customer service. Thank you on behalf of myself, the two drivers you quickly found a room for, and the company we are employed with. I hope your superiors at Sierra Lodge know what an asset you are to this establishment.
We got here by mistake but it was a lovely experience. The town is sweet, there are lots of restaurants and they are lively in the evenings. The motel is very nice, we were greeted by a cute representative who greeted us. Comfortable and spacious room. The bonus was the first snow of the winter that accumulated on all the roofs of the houses and the roadside.
Chic HotelBy American standards, this is a 4 * Hotel (not a 3 *)Brand new (renovated) spacious rooms!New and large bathroom2 large beds + sofa bed 🛋There is a balconyThe room is large, there is a microwave oven, refrigerator, large desk with chairs!Lounge open 24/7 (with leather sofas, fireplace)Here you can make yourself tea / coffee / lemonade for freeThere are ski boxes in the parking lot 👍👍👍
We were there one night four in midsummer. The room stunk, the carpet was disgusting, the shower did not work properly, the towels left fluff on the body and the air conditioning was so loud that you could not start it during the night which meant that you hardly due to the temperatures could sleep. When we went to breakfast in the morning we found out that there were only 5 tables in the breakfast room which were all occupied, the coffee was completely empty and as I had to find after I got cereal there was no cutlery but only plastic knives. The wireless speed and the consistency of the internet connection was also miserable compared to any other hotel in the US in which we had stayed. If you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep and a good breakfast, this hotel should be avoided.
The hotel was clean and the front desk was friendly, our room with 2 queen beds spacious, so there is nothing to complain about. Generally speaking, the Sierra Lodge - like most hotels on the Mammoth Lakes - is more geared to winter holidays, as evidenced by the lack of air conditioning and general architectural style. Breakfast was ok and typically continental, the jacuzzi in the garden was very hot, despite the jets but rather unspectacular. The location in the village is in order, directly opposite to the main street one finds for example a pizza restaurant, to the center with various shops and food offers are only a few hundred meters.

2022-05-04We booked the 2 room suite and it was perfect for our group! Almost too much space for us but it was perfect! Room was clean, big and lots of good amenities above and beyond a motel. The only thing was that the heater was too hot, we didnt know how to turn it down so we had to crack open the windows. But that wasnt a deal breaker.

2022-02-15Stay was amazing! Rooms give you everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay in mammoth. Would highly recommend this quiet lodge to anyone that is coming into the area. It is also an extremely easy walk to the village for food and fun.

2022-01-21Love the quiet rooms very roomy small kitchenette with everything. Clean good parking, no elevator all rooms require at least one flight of stairs. No elevator would be a non starter for the less hardy. Wish the continental breakfast was back, no toasted bagle in the mornings was rough...LOL.

2022-04-26Positive: Location to ski slopes and bus stop is good. Covered parking. Negative: Did not do any cleanings, towel change or soap updates during stay. Used to have a continental breakfast. Price is still the same.

2022-05-18Hotel is very nice and o a nice location.Room is big, clean and the staff is friendly.Only thing is that the hotel is a bit dated and the laundrymat in the hotel does not work properly. In any case i can recommend this hotel.Dear Owner who responded to this review:I went to the front desk right after the Tied automat took 2$ and gave 0 soap (left knob just took the money and nothing haponed, the right knob got stucked with the money inside). I went to the front desk, i was offered by a friendly receptionist (night time) to get the 2$ back but i did not wanted them. Alongside i was told that the loundry is operated by an outside company. In any case, this service dif not work, hance my review about it.

2021-07-24Cleanliness: 4/5Service: 4/5Comfort: 4/5Noise: 4/5Overall: A good option in the area. Although the decor is a bit dated, I’d sat the biggest win was the size of the room as well as the comfort. There’s also a common room which was nice. The extended review...Cleanliness: 4/5 - The linens and towels were clean.Service: 4/5 - Front desk was friendly and helpful.Comfort: 4/5 - The size of the room was much bigger than I expected and was quite spacious. There was a portable air conditioning unit in the room which made our stay very comfortable.Noise: 4/5 - Thankfully not that noisy.

2021-07-20We stayed here one night on a boys motorcycle trip and the manager was very helpful in getting us into our room early after a hot day coming up 395 from Barstow. The building & rooms are old but are kept clean and the beds we’re comfortable. Nice common lounge/living room and outdoor hot tub. However, if I was on a trip with my wife we would stay somewhere else. It’s within walking distance to the main Mammoth village but there’s also a free shuttle bus stop on Main Street right in front of the lodge.

2021-07-27This place isnt fancy. But it is sparkling clean and the front desk personnel is friendly, engaged and helpful.Pro tip: the hallways are long and the stairs are on just one side. So, ask for a high floor and a quiet room at end of the hall in the comments when booking.

2021-10-03The hotel was very clean and affordable. Our bed was comfortable. Sophia and Braedon were very nice, welcoming and accommodating. Best of all it is a pet friendly hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
