As a mother, (Oma) grandmother, & great grandmother I can not express my gratitude for all the care, love, and hope Shriners Hospital and the each Shriner who has helped my family members. When Shriners were helping my son, daughter, and granddaughter, each time I was amazed by what they did for us, from the moment they picked my son and I to the time they brought us home. They took care of us through the complete visit. Besides all they done for us, a few times when we went down to San Francisco, the doctors wanted us to come back early next morning. At that point, the Shriners stepped in once again and took care of all we truly needed to be able to stay overnight in San Francisco. They would never expect any reimbursement for anything they did. They never made us feel that we were a burdens.I was surprised when I first saw an ad for support to help other children. But believe me, even though I live on a disability income, I will gladly continue to help the Shriners Hospital, which has came to Sacramento from San Francisco a few decades ago.
It was one of the worst hospitals, I had a surgery at 12:00 they told me to arrive at 7:30 and they never told me what time my surgery was on. They also didn’t tell me what they are going to do in the surgery. The doctor didn’t even come and tell me what they did and what to do next. Don’t ever send your child there. Best of luck if you did.
Excellent Doctors an staff ,caring, friendly, an such a great environment. Our grandson is always made to feel at ease and safe when hes there. He is always so motivated after his visits. Our family will forever be thankful for the the care our grandson has received at this wonderful hospital. Such a blessing best orthopedic care.
I cant tell you how the care is there because after five days of waiting for an appointment we still dont have one. our referral has been completed since Tuesday last week its now Monday and we still dont have an appointment to get a cast on a broken foot. Yeah you read that correctly there is a child with a broken foot who do far hashwent 10 days with no cast 7 of those days after the referral to Shriners Hospital was complete. So as I stated I really cant tell you how the care is but I can tell you that getting an appointment is not an easy thing to do. I suppose I need to get some plaster of Paris and just cast it myself because I have no other options. It really doesnt matter what happens from here. I will never believe in Shriners Hospital I will never trust Shriners hospital and Im going to end my monthly donation to Shriners Hospital. You know 8 days ago when they told me we were going to Shriners I thought all this is perfect hes going to get really good care. Now what I think is that they dont care about children at all.
Havent been seen yet. We waited two months for a transfer appointment (from another Shriners location, so our daughter was not a new patient). On the day of the appointment the doctor cancelled for an emergency. We were told we would get a call to reschedule, but three weeks later I had to call them, and was told it would be another four (!) months before my daughter could be seen.
My 5 year old son has broken his wrist 5 days ago. The referral has been complete sent from Mercy San Juan. It has been terrible dealing with this people. Ive called and called trying to get an appointment for his cast to finally be put on, I can never get anyone to answer. Its always a voicemail. me oThey called me on Friday, 15 minutes before they close for the day and weekend to schedule an appointment. I tried to call back immediately, went straight to voicemail. I cannot get ahold of them today either and they will not call us back. So frustrating. My son needs his cast on!
Next to St. Jude, Shriners is the best for families who cant afford the best medical care. They make the patients feel comfortable and that always puts parents minds at ease. Plus theyre in great hands for burns and orthopedic issues. I was a patient at Shriners back in 84, when they had the S.F. hospital. Without them I highly doubt that Id be walking at all today.
I have been acquainted with Shriners Hospital for Children for the past 12 months. If you or any patient needs a referral or connection with UC Davis across the street, youll be in waiting for a very long time. They have extreme problems in communication. Speak out and feel free to write a complaint, until you get the response you need. I have been waiting for PT for over a year now, and they continue to ignore my requests and turn a blind eye to my current condition. Some of the staff seem close minded and rather vague. If you need immediate help, dont hold your breath!
My baby was scheduled for surgery at 11am and its already 1pm and she hasnt been seen. My daughter is 2 years old hungry and very fuzzy. I ask a nurse for info on how much longer do we have to wait an nobody knows anything we drove 4hrs away came to the hospital very early cuz they wanted her here at 8am and were still here waiting very unprofessional.
My sister with Cerebral Palsy was a Patient there and she has nothing but positive experiences as well as my Mom & I who came to the Appointments with her or even the Surgeries! There was 1 Doctor I remember but the life of me, I cant remember his name! He looked like 1 of the Marx Brothers (Compliment of course) and he always had something funny to say, and the 1 thing I remember the most was he walked in and there was a Child in there and he went Tee - Hee, the doctor went What is this Tee - Hee Business you speak of? he got the Child on his way, and then when he started talking to my sister, he pulled out a Black spider with orange hair stuffed animal and started saying Why Me? and he made the visits ALWAYS positive!
2 years ago my son smashed his finger on the door and instead of waiting for me to open the door to get his finger out! He pulled and his finger from the cuticle up came completely off I was so scared cus there was blood every were like when u watch a movie on tv and theirs blood squirting every were. Took him to ththe emergency room and they didnt nothing but hurt him more! So I when to met pediatric clinic and they referred Me to Shriners Hospital in sac! Right away I calls and working hours they told me to come in. There is a long waiting but I was already there and I knew he would be ok. My son was only 4 years old when it happened and he was so brave an the doctores were very gentle and libeling and caring for my son not to be scared👌😍and when my kids are severely sick this is the best place to bring them! But like I said there is a waiting they never take you in on your appointment on time. That the only flaw they have
Potentially good for burn care; travesty for treatment of child health issues that are not easily diagnosed. Prolonged suffering for 5 years with no results, only demeaning physicians who conducted test after test and continued to look at our family and ask Why is this happening? when my son went into seizures and experienced multiple dislocations in front of them and other Shiners staff. Perhaps his epilepsy and painful neuropathy would have been diagnosed and treated years ago if Shriners hadnt strung along a child in extreme pain.
So far not impressed as we have been waiting 2 hours for an xray60 people were called and I went up to the window to find out what was going on!O sorry your xrays werent ordered...What the???This place is the McDonalds of health care.Lots of pretty colors but the actual meal makes you sick.Obama care has made getting a simple cast on your arm into a circus side show.Good bye AmericaUpdate:So here we are for round two.We are greeted by an old gentleman who cant even read the names on his list. Then he tells us we are late!Haha there is a line out the door?So five minutes is gonna make a difference???Cant wait until we finally see a doctor after two weeks of BS.This is our new reality. Reminds me of Mexico healthcare where women wait on cold floors for hours to have a baby!
I went to the lab so my 6 month old baby can get blood drawn. They were being very rude at first. It took two people to try and get blood. They poked my baby with the needle so many times still couldnt get no blood. Until I told them that I would take my son to get his blood drawn at a different lab.
Staff has very poor communication and my appointments were constantly be cancelled or moved around because my daughters doctor was either never there it was her day off or she was in a meeting I will be very happy when my daughter does not have to go to this hospital any more not to mention I live over an hour away so it is very frustrating taking a day off work and going all the way to sacramento to be told oh your doctor isnt here so we are going to have to reschedule thuis has happened to me three times now within the last two months its ridiculous

2022-03-10About 3 months ago I received referral approval from insurance and called Shriner hospital to arrange an appointment for my son, they gave me an appointment on mid February. After waiting 3 months they called me back and told me that they dont have doctor available to visit my son and told me to contact my family doctor to send another referral to insurance for another hospital. This is unprofessional. I waited several months and now they cant visit my son!? And I need to do all this again!!!If it was possible I would rate ZERO Star!

2022-01-14My daughter recently had surgery performed on her knee at Shriners in Sacramento. We interacted with 2 PAs, 3 anesthesiologists, 6 nurses, 1 life coach and 1 surgeon. Every single person treated us with a lot of compassion and kindness. It was pretty remarkable to encounter that many professionals in one setting. Id like to thank the staff for the outstanding treatment we received. The culture that has been created here is very special.

2022-03-04This is the worst and worst clinic ever. there are wonderful cool supper doctors !!! but the way this clinic works is just a NIGHTMARE! they appoint an appointment on Friday, you waste time, gasoline, postpone work, come and you are told that the scheduled procedure is done only on Tuesday!!! to say that I am angry is to say nothing!!!!

2021-10-20My 1 year old had a fractured knee and was given a hard cast. Hes been wearing it 4 weeks and is scheduled to have it off today and the results of my covid test havent come back yet so they will not see him to remove his cast. He is uncomfortable, he has raw rubbed spots that require constant attention to make sure they dont turn into huge sores. This is ridiculous. No other hospital or Dr that weve been to requires a covid test prior to every visit. The demand for testing is high and the places that offer rapid testing are limited. I planned for this over a week in advance and still was unable to obtain results in time and my son now has to suffer at least another 24 hours for nothing. If my test comes back positive, will they just leave a hard cast on my baby for another 14 days? This is ridiculous.

2020-02-21I am very satisfied with the results of my sons surgery. I feel so much better now that he is all fixed up. The nurses, social workers, and doctors are outstanding. They kept me informed on decisions that were best for my son and made sure I understood what was happening. Im currently in the ICU wing watching my son sleep in comfort. We go home tomorrow. All in all Shriners Hospital, the medical professionals, and staff working or volunteering are amazing.

2020-10-22Before today I would have rated the 5 stars but I have just had the most horrible experience at a hospital almost ever! Nurses were rude, dr’s that didn’t care, and being flat out lied to. We stayed over night for the first time for a surgery my daughter has had several times. And I was met with nothing but unhelpfulness. I’ve been trying to get her discharge papers for more than two hours now. I will never approve an over night visit again. From the nurse in recovery to every nurse she has hand since then. They have ignored me to the point I can say something and instead of listening to me they insist my 9 year old answer all their questions. Things she doesn’t even know about. I am really so upset I can’t even get all my words out you tell you all the horrible things that has happened. I understand they are great for families that do t have a lot of money but if you can afford it go to a doctor outside of Shriners. I don’t recommend it unless you have absolutely no choice.

2021-06-28My son came in with a burn from camping and Shriners took the best care of him. They were so kind and professional. They are so passionate about children and what they do. Hands down best hospital ever.

2020-10-31First time here and the doctor and X-ray staff were amazing, unfortunately front desk staff and the ladies at check in need some training on customer service and how not to be so prejudice and judgmental. I took my son in and they repeatedly asked about where his mother is and why she isn’t taking him to the appointment when trying to get him checked in and filling out paperwork. A father can take his son to a doctor’s appointment, can’t he? BUT every other mom checking in her child didn’t receive any questioning or even a mention on where their child’s father is. FYI dads can be parents too and the main caretaker...
