I was there for the Educating for Careers Conference 2017. It was extremely organized. The staff was always very helpful and friendly. It was amazing how they fed thousands of people quickly and efficiently. The staff also set up and took down both breakfast and lunch for thousands of guests all within a few hours. The building itself is beautiful and the sculpture inside is intricate.
Visited during the Sac Anime Winter. Great big venue with a lot of room for big crowds. Even in the torrential rain that we had for that weekend there was plenty room. It started getting a little crowded at peak times but still impressive considering some areas were normally supposed to occur outside. There are plenty of parking areas around the convention and easy to walk to.
Love this convention center! It has a great layout that makes getting to events and such easy; its hard to get lost. Ive only ever visited for Sacanime and the Greek Festival, and I have a great time every time! Thanks for always hosting such great events! I only have one complaint: it seems like the escalators fail sometime at almost every event Ive been to. They typically get them working again fast enough, but its inconvenient that it happens.
It is honestly a beautiful building, with three floors, and with lots of room for events and parties. I would suggest parking at the second closest parking garage to it, it is cheaper, the hotel parking is $25 for a full day, while the other one if you leave after 5 p.m. it is $5. I went there for a convention and they rented out the whole building and it had enough space to fit everyone in. It is easily findable, through the streets, its just right off the freeway, you just need to drive a few blocks. You can also walk to the state capitol and any food places. It also has a movie theater and a hotel right next door.
The ticket line is in the back of the building, the line moved very slowly because you had to get out your vaccination card. Heard this place was remodeled recently? The Sacramento Art Festival was here.Fri-Sunday Nov 5-7. My family came in from out of town, they were impressed on the size and how clean and open it is. The booths and the isles are spaced nicely so roomy not crowded or on top of each other it was tremendous! The food I think made me sick?(been sick a whole week now) I had a small Chicken Ceasar salad. They lack good food choices. I did like the live music! Jazzy and then old 70s n 80s easy listening. So many very talented artists sharing their creations to buy or admire. I didnt see any funky junky stuff here and the prices were on par for each specialist. I enjoyed my first grown up outing since the end of 2019! I hope they have more events just like this in the future!
Access into the building accommodates all. Caution is very high to maintain social distancing, checking for vax, providing handrails to preventing falling and aiding one to designated seating. My seating neighbors are great lovers of music thereby making the listening experience a joy with their observations: seen, heard and felt. The conductor/violinist cannot be described with words, she was as much internal as external in displaying her creative genius.
I watched The Nutcracker with some friends. It was a beautiful show. We got all dressed up, as did the rest of the audience, in semiformal gowns and suits. It was awesome!I had to show proof that I am fully vaccinated. My friends had to show recent negative COVID test results. Everyone was wearing masks. It looked like a reletively full houses. Theres a parking garage just across the street that costs $20.
Attended a performance of Hamilton.New seats in the convention center. Some pitch was added to seating. As a short woman, I would have like more of a slant as it was difficult for me to see over the womans head in front of me.Nice lobby! And additional restrooms stalls for women. Yay! The whole building makes Sacramento look like a cultured happening place.Nicely done!!
The staff was unhelpful, shifty and downright rude during labor day weekend convention. A woman aggressively insisting on limiting our loading time, told me to park in an adjacent parking lot, which then my car got TOWED!!!! And when stating the disappointment of what happened the staff that directed me to park there, was callous and brushes me off. THEY WATCHED MY CAR GET TOWED!!!! Stay away from this center, not worth the headache or wasted money!
I really love the newly renovated theater! It was such a treat to attend my first Broadway show in Sacramento in 3 years. The Covid protocols were easy to negotiate and most people were willing to comply. Love that I was able to attend the first show in the new theater... was I the first person to sit in my seat?
Went for the 9/2021 AniméCon, the event was a bit unorganized. The SAFE Convention Center was a big venue however, the A/C was only working in half of the downstairs floor and it was hot in there. The event itself was lots of fun. Many people cosplayed. Overall it was a good experience.
Performance of Hamilton was outstanding! Regarding the convention center, there needs be a safe entry and exit procedure for persons utilizing a cane or wheelchair. I was able to utilize the empty elevator initially to gain access to the lower balcony lobby. However, my exit, even though I hung back hoping to allow the initial crowd to leave, felt very hazardous. Even though I attempted to utilize the hand rail on the steps, persons had decided to stand/stop along the rails rather than keep moving. Therefore I had to release my hold on the rail to go around them, all in the midst of the otherwise moving crowd. Because of COVID-19, I feared being stuffed into a crowded elevator.
Sound system was better but I feel like it is louder than it needs to be. Was really awful before the rebuild. On occasions they have a subtitle display. This makes it somewhat easier if you lose the dialog. Maybe they wouldnt feel the need for the high volume. Had this Convo with my ENT and she agreed from a ear health point of view.
The Easy Rider bike show gorgeous bikes bikes that youve never seen before bikes that the complete paint jobs and chrome and glass were all asked bike jobs on spinning wheels bike jobs with lights lighting them up like you would never want to ride because theyre just too gorgeous
Dont even want to give it a 1. Signs posted all the way around the building for the box office of which there isnt one. Even employees arent aware of what & where the box office is. Wasted $15 on parking, still werent able to find a box office once inside, said to hell with it and went home. What a waste of 2-1/2 hours.
Loved the convention center. The design of their floor plan makes so that they really can accommodate any one. Also, there is plenty of parking in the region, they have food selections with the building, and the building is within walking distance of many great restaurants. I would highly recommend for a venue, and as a visitor.
I attend two conferences here in a two week timespan. The facilities were excellent. Staff was readily available, and were on top of things. The food was good, and I really appreciated having the Nestle ice cream bars as an afternoon snack. That was a nice touch. I also like that there were several bottled water stations available to refill my thermos. Having more comfortable chairs would be nice as they started to wear on me throughout the day as I attended several workshop sessions. Overall, its a great facility.
We spent the first few hours without a sound system but once it was supplied it sounded really goodIt was well situated between random restaurants, but not a lot of selection. The deli nearby was good.Temperature was good, lighting was good for our event, I had no interaction with staff
I have been to a few events here. There are enough bathrooms and there is good light, but most of the time it was too hot. Conventions have people in suits and the air conditioning wasnt keeping up. Also, several of areas smelled funny (i couldnt place the smell but i didnt like it).
The program was excellent for the convention of Jehovahs Witnesses. There were almost 5,000 attending for 3 days. The venue was clean and spacious. The seats, however, were not comfortable and there was no parking at the site. It was an interesting but hot walk to the car.
Attended an event that we usually attend at Memorial Auditorium and was very pleased with the Convention Center from Super easy drop off to the nearby (like across the street) parking, made my day so easy! My team and I are not from the city so when we come into downtown things like these quick conveniences make us super happy! Did not find a unfriendly, person only complaint I heard all day was the Starbucks ran outta coffee! And seriously you have to know thats going to happen with 90 cheer teams and parents in the vicinity!
I roamed most of the structure for work related activities and it is relatively massive. 3 stories worth of space for events. You can definitely get lost in the space if you dont know where youre going. Recommended for those that bring in large parties and events that need to be thrown quickly. Definitely bring a map.
The conference center is in a nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants nearby. The layout of the facility is also nice and the conference rooms or walkable between sessions. I also like the catering at the facility. I also like the windows in the facility. The reason for four stars rather than 5 is that facility starting to feel dated and also some of the window sills and trim were dusty. However, I think they are in the process of starting to update their facility. I will come back to a meeting here.
Went to a Christmas party here. It was a blast. High ceilings, beautifully set tables. The food was amazing. I cant decide what I loved more, the triple mouse cake, or the red velvet....the guy at the bar, Brent(?) I think his name was, absolutely charming, make the most perfect tequila sunrises...all in all a great place to have a party. And the bathrooms were immaculate. Not to mention a great sound system in the room where the party was held.
This is a pretty nice place to have a convention. With 1400 of us in the building with just our group the bathroom line was always pretty long and the line to get any sort of coffee or anything that Starbucks was super unbearably long. They do not allow any sort of outside food or drink inside but we did have catered lunch halfway through and that was nice.
It was a nice enough location for our conference, however not preferable compared other cities convention centers. The on-site food places were not open at all the entire time we were there, and there is no cheap fast food nearby, which was a pain for my group, especially since we remained on-foot for the entirety of our stay.
I went with my friends for fright night back in October. The venue is nice, but the staff had no idea what to do or what was going on. The staff needs more people are more training for big events. Not their fault, they kinda got screwed by management and event organizers.
I attended an expo and the convention center made getting around, attending classes, and taking small rests easy. Although the convention center provided food that looked quite good and healthy, the menu was not adequate for my special diet. This was probably the menu selected by the Expo rather than the convention center.
Although this place is fairly old, having been in Sacramento for a couple decades now, it is still a really nice place. I particularly like walking through the Halls once in awhile during lunch just because its quite nice. They host a lot of different events here throughout the year.
Been to several conferences here. Place is clean and well kept. There is a parking garage across the street that Ive always been able to get into. They have a Starbucks and one other food place inside. The center is also across the street from a Sheraton and further down the street a Hyatt Regency. If lunch is not provided at your conference there are several restaurants along a parkway setting in between the two hotels mentioned. Also, there are several wonderful restaurants within east walking distance.
We attend the ballet and the theater here and love them both. The size of the venue means there are no bad seats, just watch the cocktail prices! Also, I love that I can order my drinks for intermission before the show, so I can just go and pick up instead of waiting in line.
Nice building. Parking is a disaster, and very expensive. Meters are incorrect when you use your credit card, meter read $4.00 but my credit card was charged $12.00 at least that was cheaper than the convention center parking across the street. And not any handicapped parking. Will never go to a event there again.
Nice place but was fairly small, at least the way they set it up when I was there. Small bathrooms. Lots of stairs and very small and old elevators that run slow. They do have escalators but theyre very inconvenient where theyre placed. Very close to some small restaurants but the hotels nearby are always booked.
Ive seen concerts and shows here. Great theatre set up. Its small, and best seats seem to be near stage or first row of 2nd tier. Offer beer and wine but you are not suppose to bring it into the theatre. Lots of places to eat nearby and you can valet park to make it easier.
An amazing encounter of peoples unique spin on characters from the now to the good ol days. Friendly atmosphere for all ages. We went during an anime con. Only problem was very crowded and no place to sit. Had to sit on floor up against the wall while eating. Other than that fun had by all.
We go there at least once a year for River City Food Banks Empty Bowls Luncheon. Its a wonderful, fun time, eating different soups from high end restaurants around town & being able to pick out a bowl made & donated by local schools & pottery making businesses around town. It is a fun time & a great benefit for our citys needy! See you next year 😁
I was there this week for the Aeries Conference and due to my doctors orders I was put on a VERY CRAZY diet (for an upcoming procedure) No salt, No dairy, and No fish products. I didnt want to miss the conference so I brought my own meat planning to eat fruit, salad and vegetables from the buffets. I could ONLY eat the fruit in the morning and at lunch on Monday there was nothing I could eat. The salad had a dressing and so did the vegetables. I spoke to Chad and he was kind enough to bring me some steamed vegetables so I can sit with my group and enjoy lunch. I met Hyde and she told me it that the next day was going to be a Mexican Buffet. The next day I brought my ground beef (I brought from home) and Chad was kind to have it heated for me. I was able to get some green salad from the buffet and I was able eat with my coworkers and continue to enjoy the conference. Thank you Chad! (and staff) for going out of your way to make my meals at the Aeries Conference enjoyable. I was not able to enjoy the great food that was provided nor any of the snacks that were provided throughout the day, BUT, I was able to eat my lunch with my team and was able to enjoy the conference.
Clean, comfortable, nice theater. Went to see Joe Rogan do stand up comedy here. Long lines to get in , yet the wait time wasnt as long at all! Any Staff who I encountered were courteous and helpful. Sat in the 1st tier, row I, toward the center and the view was pretty good. The seating is sloped enough that even with some pretty tall people in front of me, I was able to see over them. Only complaint was from my husband, who said some of the concession stands were under staffed. We would definitely go to another show here!
The convention center was easy to get to. The city lots are close by and are only $ 5.00 on the weekend. The entrance was wheelchair friendly and so are the restrooms. I went there for a volleyball tournament. However, I would not recommend it for this use. The ceilings are too low for this sport. Also, the food and coffee places closed at 4:00 pm however the tournament was over at 9:00 pm.
I have been to the Sacramento Convention Center many times over the years for various conferences. It is a great venue with nice meeting rooms, restrooms, food vendors, and views. The only negative thing is it is difficult to find parking due to the high volume area. I make it a point to arrive before 7:30am just to get a parking spot. And the parking is not cheap.
Do yourself a favor and walk the entire 360 path throughout the inside of the convention center, half of the path is upstairs and the other half is on the first floor. Each room is vastly different, making this the perfect spot for any large event. Numerous parking garages are nearby, they are pricey but necessary.
This place is HUGE!!! It has a ticket booth to enter. Its surrounded by tall buildings, so I recommend you use GPS to get here. The streets are crowded (like they always are in downtown) but if you park close it doesnt matter. The building itself is rentable, and often has different things inside weekly. It is well organized and seems very professional.
If you are going to an event I would strongly suggest purchasing tickets online and going to will-call which is inside the convention center you will be whisked immediately to your event without waiting in line outside in the sun for up to two hours. I saw the lines out the door they stretched around the building and unfortunately everyone outside was standing in line for the box office. Im sure their impression is different than ours, I found purchasing tickets very simple when utilizing their website online. There was no lines in the will call area, and we were immediately taken to the show which in this case was a reptile show.
I have attended this Convention Center for several events from the Greek Food Festival to Conventions and other types of venues. Its spacious and can seat 5,000 people or more. You can also see live performances by various artists. I always have a good time when I go to the Sacramento Convention Center.
The inside of the convention center was nice, clean and spacious. The outside of the convention center was nasty. I understand there is a bad homeless problem but that was ridiculous. There was a woman peeing on a pole on the corner of the convention center. There was a homeless man pooping on the sidewalk. Maybe Sacramento could keep the homeless away from the convention center.
I visited the center for Sacanime over Labor Day weekend and have to say the location is pretty worn down. The hallways are narrow and flooring pretty torn up, while the second floor has great windows some of the taller ones looked like they had never been cleaned. The exhibit halls definitely need better AC.
Great space in the middle of Sacramento that can host pretty much whatever you want. Ive been here for a prom, for work trainings, and for the Sacramento Anime Convention - - all have been well supported by the space, with plenty of room for everyone to move about. The Convention Center is versatile enough that you can rent out a room for your event or take the entire building, depending on your needs. There are multiple stories and plenty of bathrooms.
I came here for a meeting. I stayed at a major chain hotel next door. The convention center is just like any other. Nothing special but nothing bad. Unfortunately I had to give it 1 star because Sacramento has done a terrible job about the homeless situation. People urinate and defecate all over the place. On my arrival night, I decided to explore the area and walked several miles around the downtown. The urine smell was pervasive and overwhelming on every road I walked on. The homeless folks were every where but mostly kept to themselves and were mostly harmless. I only felt unsafe a couple of times when the person seemed out of their mind in speech and behavior. It is shameful that the states Capitol would not take care of its citizens.
Had a great time at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo. The only complaint is theres no loading area to bring all our crop supplies in, we had to park on a public street, unload, wait for the other person to park and come back to bring our things in. But overall everything was great!
I attended a conference. Nicely set up. Lots of walking from one end to another. Expensive food, so plan ahead. Parking is a bear, you either pay a lot of money for a parking lot or pay through the nose for a meter that you might not be able to stay at all day. I hate going downtown due to costs of parking and the traffic.
In the heart of Downtown Sacramento, huge convention center, tho not the biggest...there is a Starbucks & a little pizza place hidden within & parking may be a lot more harder to navigate and costly too if you dont look up beforehand. Google City Lot D which has over 100+ spots at $5/daily and Memorial Garage at $6/daily if you arrive before 930am weekdays and out after 430pm (early bird special); weekends are $5/daily flat fee and offers over 8 levels of parking space and is a short walk. SIDE NOTE: Metered parking is FREE on Sundays so you can park even closer! Otherwise expect to pay $10-25/ daily for parking
The Convention Center is in the middle of town Sacramento. There was a Comic Con event going on at the same time our event (Shen Yun) was playing and while there were many, many people out and about, there was adequate parking, many eateries open and serving the crowds, and a peacefulness not usually enjoyed when that many people gather. Sacramento residents were a warm bunch, in my honest appraisal. We had a memorable evening out.
For the show we did here, the Sacramento Art Festival, it was the best venue we have ever shown at. Close by hotels that dont cost an arm and a leg, and trailer parking on-site. Just dont wonder to far away from your hotel at night, since the local parks is where the homeless live, and they are very aggressive in their pan-handling.
Amazing venue for professional events. The last event I attended was Jamz - a cheer and dance competition. Other events Ive attended were mainly government and technology conventions. A Starbucks is located inside on the north side of the building. Various restaurant options surround the venue as well. There isnt dedicated parking; however, there are plenty of parking sites and garage options in the vicinity. They typically have all day flat rates if an event is occurring that day.
Went to a motorcycle show here. It was overpriced for what they offered. Cost $40 for two of us. If you took out the motorcycle specific vendors, the rest of the vendors could be found in any commercial building at any county fair. There was nothing special about the show. The food prices are outrageous, we bought and shared one can of soda and it cost $4!! Would be hard pressed to go to another show there again.
Worked the Fandemic event and both days were a breeze to get through the security check, and to my booth. Every question asked to any security, general customer service rep or event staff was thoroughly answered. Wonderful to have knowledgeable staff when it matters most.
Beautiful venue for Shen Yun! My only problem was the 50 women line for the bathroom before it started. I cant even imagine what it was like at intermission. Why dont they build womens bathrooms twice or three times as big as the mens? The men were walking right into their bathroom.
We feel safe every year that we come here. The Sac Anime con is the best. I have family and friends that are really into Anime and video games, and this is the place we go to when we need that special gift. It is so much fun looking at all the cosplayers and we cosplay too. Its cool when you are walking down one of the isles and someone says your cosplay is awesome. It makes you feel so good and that all your hard work and time you put into your cosplay was worth it. Im sad that it wont be there this year.😥
There was only one thing that a few others and i noticed. There were no places to sit between rooms where ther were events. Those long long hallways. It made a little bit of a problem. Other than that everything was clean, and bathrooms were well stocked and clean . Thankyou for everything.
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! It was the 1st Kenneth Copeland Victory Campaign in Sacramento & amazing miracles you wouldnt believe took place. The worship was absolutely anointed. You would think 3 days would be enough but you simply couldnt get enough ~God was working! ! !
The inside of the main hall kinda feels like a prison. There are lots of interesting art pieces, art installments, and apparently PokéStops all around. I heard theyre renovating the place and a lot of people will be losing jobs with no regard for their future or well being. (*source* concerned employee)
I almost want to write two separate reviews, with two separate scores, to accurately capture the two separate faces of the Sacramento Convention Center and how they handled our two events so differently. They handled our four-day competition really well. Everything went smooth, and the event came off with very few hitches and excellent support--as far as I could see--from the facility. But the banquet at the end of the competition was a very different story. It seemed as though the Sacramento Convention Center never actually had any intention of hosting the banquet appropriately. Instead of a night of dining and dancing, the event was closed down just minutes after the dinner was complete by employees who refused to name their manager, who they claimed wasnt even present. If you had no intention of hosting our event, you could have been up front about it and we could have taken our business elsewhere. Which I certainly hope my organization will do.
Just a giant concrete building with large open spaces. Over zealous security barking about fire code if you stand in the wrong space. Another jumped over with both arms out panicked that people were going on the wrong side of a ribbon separator when a simple direction would have steered them in the correct direction.
Fandamic was a bust! Though the vendors had terrific art, the whole place was practically empty. Blame the organizers! Poor planning or seems lack of advertising....who knows! It was so awful to see the vendors faces. Some of them left Saturday afternoon. Its only fun when everyone is having a great time buying art and the vendors making money, too!
We were there for my daughters Regionals Volleyball tournament. No outside food or drinks inside; water or Gatorade only. Theres a Starbucks inside along with a pizza restaurant. Parking on the street is hard to find. You have to pay for parking in parking structure; cost $20.00 a day.
Its pretty great going here for SacAnime but damn is it pricy. The age group this mostly targets dont exactly have high paying jobs and then everything else is pricy too--the food, drinks, parking, just getting or making a costume to have more fun. I love going to this but I just wish was easier to go to.
I went to the Reptile Show at ther Convention Center a few weeks ago and the event itself was fun. My criticism of the event was that the entry line was literally around the block and down the length of the city street. It felt excruciatingly slow process felt like waiting away the DMV.The lines were similar for their snack bar (which was expected judging by the amount of time it took to enter), which served lukewarm, expensive, subpar food (bring snacks!)The reptiles were amazing and they had folks walking around with snakes atound their necks which was pretty cool. The Convention Center itself was spacious, well lit, and conveniently located. Solid 3- stars.
Been to Sacramental Reptile show, SacAnime, Wizard World, ComiCon, etc. Wonderful place with tremendous amounts of space. A little awkward to get to the other floors with their roundabout staircases and such. Also the vendors seem to not rotate that much, but that cant really be helped.
Sacanime, One of my favorite Convention! :D made lot of friends here, the price of the hotels around the area are very decent, One of the things i like of this convention is there some good restaurants to eat and a 711, which is usually great to get snack at night when everything is close, however one of the things i dislike about this area is theres homeless at night sleeping on the sidewalk or standing by the 711, Still give 5 stars because thats not the Convention fault.
We were here for a three day convention called SacAnime. Lots of parking option available as with hotel accommodations just walking distance to the convention center. Lots of lunch and dinner options just blocks away. Too bad the pizza place and Starbucks inside the center closed early.
Great Venue! Went for Fright night but midnight was very unorganized at will call! Majority of the people waiting in line werent even in and the show started like 2 hrs ago! Security didnt even do there job and didnt bother to check my camelbak. tl:dr Great Venue! Dope ass show! Just poor communication and organization from Midnite!

2022-06-03Nice place for my convention, the only thing l didnt like it, is the strong fumigation odor in every single room. Here, you can visit a Starbucks with out go outside. Theres a lot of small Restaurants to eat in K Street.

2022-04-11I love the remodel. Such a great use of space now! The upstairs feels integrated into the site instead of an afterthought.

2021-09-26Absolutely beautiful renovations! There were a few places here that used to look a bit shabby, but no more. Getting into the theater was easy, even with covid restrictions - it really didnt take any longer, since most people were prepared. Everything looked and sounded great!

2021-11-22The new and improved Community Center theatre is spiffed up and best of all -- lots of new ladies restrooms. No more choosing between a beverage and hitting the restroom at intermission! They added new seating for wheelchairs and companions, new seats throughout and aisles in the orchestra section. All good things. The shows Ive seen this season have been fantastic too, especially, of course, Hamilton! :)

2022-01-23Saw an amazing show here. The Sacramento Symphony. Great performance and beautiful space. I guess theyve done a lot to keep the doors open and its a good thing. Heard Bheetoven and Braum.

2022-06-19The theater went through an update recently and the seating is more comfortable and not much has changed other than cosmetics and a much better sound system. Get a chance to see something different rather than a movie I would suggest picking out something you probably wouldnt want to see on any given day and youll find yourself pleasantly surprised. I recently saw Wicked and Brian Cox. I enjoyed the latter a little bit more because it was high on my favorite subjects. I actually had to have Wicked explained to me but I have a very educated spouse and she explained that it was about the Wizard of Oz and I couldnt figure that out.

2022-04-17This venue has undergone an extensive renovation completed just prior to or during the pandemic shutdown. There is a new lobby, but the event space is essentially the same with altered seating. The space between aisles i.e. legroom is reduced requiring attendees to rise to allow access to interior row seating. Access and egress are slowed but patrons are considerate. Concessions have been reduced to the point of being discouraged. The stage venue is truly good and your experience will depend on the event.
