Was pleased with my Sacramento County CCW class. I wasnt sure what to expect at this class but Im glad I chose this location vs others out there. Ian is a good instructor and will challenge the class to think through difficult situations and understand the associated responsibilities. There is also zero tolerance for unsafe use of firearms. Enjoyable and plan to go back for more firearms classes in the future.
As a retired peace officer and former director of a college criminal justice program, I was attending SSTC to qualify for my open carry card to work armed private security details. The training I received at this school was excellent! The classroom instruction was realistic and practical and the class discussions were open, honest and thought-provoking. The weapons instruction was very useful and I was able to qualify with two different calibers. Even though I have over 26 years of law enforcement experience and five years of private security training and experience, I learned valuable information that will be very beneficial to me in the future. The cost of the course was reasonable and the staff was very helpful. Overall, this school offers a great program! As such, I highly recommend SSTC to both new and experienced security personnel.
I run a large regional security business in the greater Sacramento region. When applicants come to me and ask for a good school to go to for a guard card or security training, I always encourage them to go to this school. One of the instructors, Sean is one of the hardest working folks in the business and does a great job training these folks!
I am new to the Sacramento area. I decided to take up a career as a security guard. I thank God that I came across this place!! The instructor Ian, and Shawn, who gets you all squared away, are absolutely amazing and go out of their way to ensure that you have all the tools you need to be the best at protecting yourself and others! I have tried several training schools in the Sacramento area over the years. This one is by far the best. The lead firearms instructor, Ian, really took his time and was patient with the students. And when Ian demonstrated his shooting skill it really just blew everybody away. A lot of other guys talk about their experience or skill level but Ian actually showed us. That really helped everybody have confidence that he is giving you good advice. I personally have a good skillset having worked in security and law enforcement for almost twenty years but I must requalify with my firearms biannually. And honestly Ian shared some ideas with me that even I found helpful. I will heartily recommend this school to anyone either beginners just learning to shoot and even experienced shooters like myself. It says a lot that I walked away with some good advice instead of the same old/same old. It was certainly refreshing to train with a professional instructor who really knows his stuff. Thanks guys keep up the good work! Be back to see you for my next requal.
Came to the training with high expectations and got something completely different. I expected a suger coated class but that wasnt the case. It was realistic (as it should be) the teacher really touched on the topic that having a gun is a big responsibility its literally the line between life and death and should be treated with the highest of respect. If your sensitive this isnt the place for you and you should probably not have a gun because once you have it you have to sacrifice your emotions to carry cant let anything get to you. All and all this is the class to take i recommend it highly. I took the exposed carry class with my 9mm.
If anyone want to buy a firearm for any purpose ( Armed Guard, Hunting, Recreation or whatever reason you can think of) just come to this class. Ian & Sean are thorough professionals and gentlemen. Ian goes in every detail of carrying a gun in this society. You will get nothing except the real world exprience. Thank you SSTC, you guys are amazing!!!
I came to SSTC for the first time to do my CCW renewal course. What a breath of fresh air. Clean and comfortable classroom. Amazing instructor. The on-site range at SSTC was a major convenience. The small class size let me get in, get it done and get out. This used to be an all day affair when I used other training centers: a class at one location, the range at another. I highly recommend SSTC.
My husband was looking into other schools for his training and Im going to be honest I was hesitant and uneasy with his carrier choice but once I looked into this training course I was blown away with the professionalism and dedication to properly training and educating the cadets. My husband was blown away with how thorough the material was and the passion the instructor had. I can honestly say from a spouses stand point I am very greatful to the training facility for properly educating and training my husband so when hes out in the field I know he will be able to handle whatever he might run into. If your interested in this field look no further this is the school for you not only will you be greatful for their dedication and thoroughness but your spouse will have some relief as well.

REQUALIFY right here! Earn the security license and armed guard. They also do private training for certain licenses at a very reasonable price. Very helpful and student focused! Legendary teachers!
I came to SSTC to re-qualify. The process was very quick and efficient, the instructor is very knowledgeable and greatly improved my skill set. I will definitely go to SSTC for all my future training and re-qualifying needs.
Instructors are great. One on one during classes. Instructors actually take interest that you understand the course material and understand the capacity of a Security Gaurd.
Large comfortable classroom with small class sizes. Knowledgeable instructors and great pricing. Will use them time and time again.

2021-06-14I originally signed up for the concealed firearms course because the pricing was really competitive and because they supplied the ammo. But now that Ive completed the course, Id like say that the real reason to sign up is because of the instructor, Mr. Ian Willis. Ive not taken any other firearm classes anywhere, but am hard-pressed to even think that you could find another instructor with the compassion, knowledge, skills and desire to make sure his students truly understand what concealed carry is all about (and he hammers the point that its all about safety)! He utilizes so many current events to illustrate points that the class has a very unique relevance - its incredibly informative, entertaining and focused.

2020-12-21Ian is an incredible instructor. It takes a very advanced skill set to be able to effectively teach laws, basic safety, tactical skills, implications of negligent actions (personally, publically and politically) while figuring out what is driving each of your students to do what they are doing and make them question their motivations in a manner that makes them grow. Being able to do this in a few days with a group of students who are walking in blind and initially hesitant to admit shortcomings is by no means a simple task. This course was by far the most value I have ever gained from a few hundred dollars and I will continue to return and advise friends and family to do the same.

2019-05-18If you want realistic training and not just BS, Ian and Sean are the best instructors to go to. Especially Ian, he push you to learn and challenge you to your best. They will teach you all the basic fundamental of security training and they will do everything to help you get your certification. I will give them six star if I could!

2016-03-17Ive taken the First Aid/CPR, Tactical Communication and Concealed Carry classes at SSTC and Ive been profoundly impressed with the professionalism of every instructor.Every class is incredibly thorough and engaging!Using the indoor range was especially exciting, and the range master is incredibly knowledgeable. He helped me improve my aim significantly in only one session. Highly recommend!!

2019-03-13I rarely write reviews, but in this case I think it is very important to write one for this business. The subject of carrying a firearm (tool to save lives) either exposed or concealed publicly is a big issue in California. The responsibility of having a life saving tool with you at all times is heavily regulated by the state of California in its various forms in functions. There is so much responsibility with this process that its important that anyone considering carrying or using these life saving tools be fully aware of all of the legal, social and real world consequences and benefits of doing so. I have attended many tool related trainings over the years, literally thousands of hours. Hands down this school is the very best in Northern California. The curriculum, the real world experience, the way this course is taught can not be beaten for the price. You should take this course even if you never think youre going to carry a life saving tool. I want to thank everyone at the school especially Ion for all of the experience, professionalism and dedication to what they are doing. You truly make this world a safer place. I hope to attend additional trainings in the future.
