I bought a certified, Pre-Owned Volvo through Royal Auto, and within the first few months had some unexpected issues that had me down at the service center. In both cases, Jim Yared went out of his way to make it right.Certified Pre-Owned isnt brand new, so some issues are to be expected, but the attention to detail, and the desire to make it right for the client, is my impression of this team. I bought from a local dealer, so I could have a local service team, and I found a great one with these guys.They definitely have earned my trust.
On several occasions I have came to Royal Auto Group of San Francisco to get my oil topped off for my Audi Q5, which was purchased new in 2016 (along with an extended service contract) to be treated with rudeness and disrespect by service advisor Johnny Liu. Many Audi vehicles are known to have defects leading to high oil consumption and lawsuits have been filed as a result. Upon being notified by a service advisor elsewhere that Audi Service Departments offer complimentary oil top-offs as a result, I have taken my Q5 to different Audi dealerships to have them top the oil off in between services. Every single dealership that I have went to, including Audi of Concord and Audi of Oakland, has treated me with nothing but dignity and respect, for the exception of Royal Auto Group of San Francisco. Every time I have arrived at Royal Auto Group for a top off, Jonathan Liu interrogates me as if I am not deserving. I only went to the San Francisco location, because it is nearby my work. I strongly recommend Johnny Liu conduct research to ascertain the background of why Audi provides top off services, because he pretends to not be aware. Furthermore, As a minority female, I seriously doubt if Johny Liu treats non-minority men as badly as he has treated me.
This service regularly cheating.I did regular maintenance in this Royal Auto Group Service.My last adviser was 1417 Julio Rivera.When I was picking up my car he told me that there is a nail in my tier from the internal side of the wheel and show me the photo from the phone. The air was leaking super slow.He recommends I replace two tries to make it symmetrical even though I have 6-month-old tires. I asked how long it will take. He answered that the operation will take 1 hour but I need to wait for 3-4 hours because of the line.I didn’t have time that’s why I pick the car.I decided to replace the tire with another service. Today I was waiting for 1 hour while the guys were checking all the tires.And guess what? There was no issue with the tires. They check everything, lowering and inflating the wheels, checking in the water. Nothing.I wish it was a mistake.But the same situation was with my breaks (at another time). The guy was insisting that I need to change breaks, I decided that I will change it for the next service.On the next service, another guy told me that breaks are fine and on another one is fine.So, please be careful when using this service. Some guys are cheaters.
Technically I would say they do good mechanical work. Used them on 3 different cars VW / Volvo. I realized theyre definitely on the pricey side after shopping around w other certified Volvo mechanics but never had issues w the work.But on the customer service side - much, much more room for improvement. Dont expect a customer focused organization. They do such a high volume that youre just a number. If youre expecting to establish a trusted, long term, service relationship, not the best choice.
I had a great experience with Johnny and the team here. My repair started as an oil change and the scope expanded into the diagnosis and repair of a check engine light. It wasn’t the easiest problem to solve, and required a return visit, but they were very accommodating to me with a loaner car and even covered Uber expenses. Can’t ask for much more than that. Thanks!
I went in for a recall and a tire and needed up with a $2200 bill for what I believe was an unnecessary repair. My father is a German trained Mercedes and VW mechanic and also feels I was taken advantage of. When I asked to talk to the mechanic I was ignored. Instead they double parked my car on a busy road and told me the keys were inside
Royal Auto group did a great job and went above and beyond for my car. Their staff are friendly and made sure I was satisfied. They even sent me a video explaining what they did to my car. I’ve always had problems with auto shops but Royal auto group is trustworthy and I will be going to them from now on
I have always had an incredible experience at Royal Auto Group. I always bring my Volvo here for service. I would not go anywhere else. Jim Yared is the best. He is one of the kindest people and he is so extremely knowledgeable of all things Volvo. No matter how busy he is he always takes the time to take care of any question I have. He is very thorough and always lets me know what my current service is as well as prepares me for any upcoming service down the road. My car runs great because of Jim and Royal. All of the staff is great. Taylor who also works with Volvos is also great. They make the process so easy. I also find their pricing to be very fair and competitive. However their service is far above what I have received at other garages. I cannot say enough great things about Jim and the team at Royal. They have always taken great care of me and my vehicle!
I just want to say a big thank you to Claudia over at the Mazda service repair center. She has been nothing but spectacular. I had back to back issues with my car this week and she was able to support me with everything. I would forsure come here again and specifically ask for her service. Thank you again Claudia, 10/10.
10. I was well treated. The service special was a great value; a film describing what was done was helpful; and the Uber reimbursement was appreciated. Service rep Julio was very helpful even after the appointment when he showed me how to the on board navigation system.
We have a brand new Volvo and have had to take it in for servicing on 3 separate occasions. In all cases, we had to wait weeks for an appointment and in each situation, they told us they wouldn’t be able to get to it so we had to rent a car in the moment. This is exceptionally inconvenient since we have a new baby and one car. When I conveyed our disappointment with the manager, Dan, I was told we are only one of many customers and this treatment is acceptable. I’m shocked at how poorly we were treated.
I recently bought a used 2013 VW and took it here for an emissions-related check engine light issue.While my vehicle was out of warranty, they proactively identified and replaced multiple components which were covered by warranty extensions (benefits of going to a dealer shop!) Other work was charged at ~$175/hr + parts.A few minor issues: drop-off here took a while due to the long line of cars waiting to get into the shop, my cars pickup estimate got delayed by a few days due to parts availability, and my floorboards were a bit dirty at pickup.Ill also say that while the Uber / Lyft credit is a nice touch, their $20 limit isnt enough to cover a round-trip to most of SF.

2022-06-02Great service. Took in my Mazda for regular maintenance. Charged what was quoted over phone. Was also told brake fluid service was due. Knew this already. Given quote and accepted. Not pushy at all with services. Identified a nail in one of my tires and instead of trying to sell me new tires Julio recommended taking it to a tire repair shop instead as tires still had decent thread. Had them inspect a noise issue, was expecting something costly, but to my surprise, Julio stated it was a known issue and was covered under Mazda warranty. Julio kept me updated throughout the process. Price transparency and honesty! Definitely continuing with this place for all my service needs!

2022-02-01Ive been using Royal Auto for my Mazda for 5 years now. They offer excellent service. Appointments can easily be made online. The staff is friendly and actively communicate with customers throughout the day as the car is being worked on. They are upfront about costs and deliver on the services. I highly recommend them.

2022-07-20Purchased my first Mazda not too long ago, it is fairly new but I got it from a non-Mazda Dealer. I thoroughly inspected it myself, gave it a month of driving around to find any issues, and looked up common problems with it.I had a small list of issues I needed to have addressed, searched around and Royal Auto Group came up multiple times. It seems they are Official partners with Mazda, Audi, and Volkswagen.I booked online and they seem to be pretty busy, the earliest appointment I was able to get was three weeks out, which is fine. Upon arrival, someone instructed me where to pull into, then I was greeted by Claudia.Claudia was very attentive and helpful. I informed her of my concerns and she wrote them all down while also looking up any records of my Mazda in the system. She gave me great advice on service intervals and what I need and do not need to have done. I also briefly stated that this was my first Mazda and was a bit concerned as it is a used car and wanted a quick one over to find any other issues I could have missed.A few hours later I receive a text with a video link, the link had a video from Tech 1453, it was a five minute video where he went through a quick run down of the vehicle while it was on the lift. He also then went through the list of issues/concerns I had and all of them were addressed appropriately. I was pretty blown away by the time, effort, and detail the Tech and Claudia displayed with my brief interaction I had when I dropped off my vehicle.I see some reviews wherein people are turned off because the interactions are brief and relationships are not built. Theyre too busy to stand around and chit chat. Though they do have a point, I do want to point out that Royal Auto is more like a well oiled machine. They know their vehicles well, they have a system that works well, and youre in and out easily. They value my time and seem to be efficient with it. The relationship built isnt with a person like at mom and pop mechanic shops, the relationship is with the brand and the reliable consistency they provide. The brand is further exemplified by people like Tech 1453 and Claudia.In short, yes, I would recommend Royal Auto Mazda to any one and I will be a returning customer.

2022-06-03Came on recommendation from friends who have taken their Volvo here for years. I’ve taken mine in for maintenance here on 3 separate occasions so far: a 30k tuneup, popped tire replacement, and broken rear window replacement. In each instance I experienced great service and highly responsive communication from the front desk team re: price estimates and status updates, Jim is great!

2022-03-31Fantastic place to have your car serviced. This is how it should be everywhere. Professional, curious and transparent. They keep you informed of every step of your car’s servicing and even send you a video of the technician going over your car. Absolutely stellar shop! My Mazda is happy now.

Johnny Liu facilitated the process from the intake, service timeline, to the car pickup. Everything was explained clearly, and the process was seamless. He was fabulous! We will be back.
