This place is probably super great as a bar and a music venue, but whatever you do dont order the nachos or tacos they are pretty terrible. The BLT was fine and the pork sandwich with coleslaw was actually pretty good. Staff was friendly, but seriously the nachos and tacos are so terrible I cant give the food more then 2-3 stars. All of the chicken looked and tasted like it just came out of a $15 crock pot in a college dorm kitchen.
The employees were very kind and responsive, the venue itself looked really cool. The nachos, burritos, bowls, and chips and salsa were honestly the worst food any of our large group have had at any restaurant in the country. One person in our group got a burger that looked great and she said tasted great. All the other food was really hard to stomach.Update: I wasnt saying this place had the worst food in the entire country, of course. I was saying that, within out group, we have been and lived all over the country and the food was the worst we have had at a restaurant, aside from the burgers. My intention wasnt to disparage the company, hence the 3 star review, which I felt was fair considering 7 out of our 8 guests hated the food. We thought the atmosphere was great, along with the server we had. We went mid day on 6/5/2021. We were the only patrons for the better part of our visit. To elaborate on the food, half way through the nachos it was so moist that it looked like someone had dumped water on them. The steak was very tough to stomach, it had the smell and taste of canned dog food.I hope we went on a very bad day and it normally isnt like that. We are all super fans on Mexican food. This was not even close to being planet earth food, except the burger, which again was great.
Pretty nice venue overall. The sound engineers were great in that my ears werent blown out by the end of the show. The seating was comfortable and it felt like unless you were standing behind an inconsiderate tall person, there werent any bad spots in the house. My only complaint is that their drink prices are ridiculously expensive. $9 for a 16oz pour of a craft beer, or $8 for a Coors Light is way too much to charge.
This was a great place to go for music. There is plenty of parking and the wait to get in was very short. They have some food choices like sandwiches and chips, but I would eat before going. The drinks were reasonably priced and were good pours. There was some seating in the back and standing along the walls with a floor area right in front of the stage. Just above the floor is the upgraded seating area and that was an additional $35.00 for 2 people. Fun spot and I would go again.
Wow...was so happy to find a place with dine in. But! Their Chipotle style offerings were served cold, and we paid way too much for a burrito, and a bowl, with 1 bloody v-8 juice. We wanted to support the local business, but aside from the juicy carnitas, and the dine in option, 2 stars is as good as it got.
Very well maintained and secure venue. Sound was clean and perfectly tuned to the room. Every seating or standing area had a clear view of the acts with 2 bars conveniently just at the top of the venue serving well priced drinks. Over all, a very well thought out venue right in the middle of The Village, in Big Bear, CA.
A bit dark and dreary inside, but we definitely enjoyed the concert. The employees were friendly. Especially the young man at the bar with a large moustache. It was raining out and cold, so they really should not have made us wait outside so long. Certainly sitting inside earlier wouldnt have mattered. We waited for over an hour when the ticket said 6:30 and VIP could enter earlier. I realize everything was running late due to weather but a guy said well let you in a 5 and turned into 25. Then we all waited in the corridor a long time after Laine warmed up when we could have waited inside.
Went for a specific band. Got there early, in the first 5 in the line, waited extra,, 45 minutes to get in and handicapped, higher priced patrons placed at the far back of the room. Next time just purchasing plain old admissions. Group was good, service inside was good. Facility restrooms clean in first half hour ( never went back for second trip). Facilities clean and fairly well organized. Had, one snack, drink and reasonable time.
The bands they book are great, but unfortunately this venue now falls short since their remodel and heres why;We paid for VIP guaranteed seating......and it turned out to be VIP standing. The new layout seems to simply focus on herding people into animal pens based on their ticket price. So this forces everybody to press up against these balcony levels to get a view of the band. So technically the levels should be named the pit, the VIP pit and general admission pit. Oh, and did I mention that it was 90° inside when it was 38° outside. Apparently a new ventilation system wasnt part of the remodel budget. All in all, a horrible experience and we wont be going back. But to end on a positive note, the Queen cover band was excellent.
My husband and I grew up listening to bands like The Doors, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix...etc so we were quite excited to see Wild Child at the Cave...Although Jim Morrison was exceptional, the organ player could use a bit of help and the sound was cranked up way too high for that small of a space which made it painful, actually, - my ears are still ringing three days later!! The drinks were a bit overpriced but good draft beer, and I wish the bouncers would have a bit more crowd control... There was a couple in front of us practically having sex, and too many people stood up making it hard for the rest of us in the back to see the performance. Nice redo on the old theatre though!!
Mezz seats are the best as there are no obstructions. Handicap seats are really great. Just show up before doors open & they will guide you to the right area. Food is just to soak up the liquor, so eat before you go. Most artists do a meet & greet after the show, but it may cost extra. Photography depends on artist.
My first time at this venue. We waited in a long metal detector line and they ran out of general admission seats, and the seating area was so dark, you could not tell. This is an hour before warm up group performance. I was told to upgrade to VIP. However that upgrade was for a new ticket, with no credit for what I paid. I was finally comped the upgrade. The food and beverage availability was hopelessly inadequate. Customers were bailing out of long lines, for school snack grade purchases. The Cave is leaving money on the table and customers dissatisfied.
Staff made us concert goers wait in 32 degree weather. The concert was supposed to start at 6:30. They wouldnt let anyone in the door until 6:45-7:00. We waited for two hours to get in the door. Couldnt feel our toes or fingers anymore. No reason why any establishment should treat their patrons like that. They could have let us in an hour early, like most other venues do. Damn! It ruined the entire experience for me and my son.
I’ve been to several shows at The Cave. The sound guy “Dave” is the worst sound guy I’ve ever heard. I was at the show last night and saw Lorrie Morgan and her sound guy had to step in and level out the sound. Dave was so worried about being the cool guy and didn’t pay attention to the sound at all. She kept on signaling for him to turn her microphone up, but he wasn’t even paying attention. If your a band that’s going to play here make sure you bring a sound guy to save your show. Dave likes to promote being the most obnoxious person in the venue to win an autographed guitar...So think about a bunch of drunk people trying to win the guitar. I think you may have an idea of what that looks like and sounds like. Also, I have seen a performer stop mid song because the lights were going to cause him to have a seizure. Last night they put spot lights on the crowd were I was sitting and completely blinded me for about 10 minutes. Thankfully Lorrie’s sound guy saved her show because they have no idea what they are doing. The first band that played you could only here the mandalin guitar and the singer. The sound was so bad you couldn’t hear the drums and they were mic’ed Wow...let that sink in for a minute. I’ve continued to come back because from time to time they have some pretty good artists who come there. Again to ALL BANDS please bring your own sound guy or ask your little cousin who plays guitar or any instrument if they want to give sound a go your chances would be way better than letting Dave do your sound. Good luck...
This was my first time at The Cave. From what I have read, it use to be a lot better; yet, I had a good experience. I was here for and Edgar Winter concert; GA. I ended up sitting on the right side bench against the wall; my view was unobstructed. However, I will agree that the middle seating section is horrible. Because the seats are not on a gradient your view will be obstructed - only row one or two or good in that section.
Ive got no problem driving up to Big Bear to visit but I wish they would raise the stage 2 or 3 ft. So the band could be seen from the entire place. People who reserved tables had to kneel on the seats to see over heads of those standing. Kinda kills the point of paying for a table.
The Cave is awesome! I recently saw Iration in January, these guys were amazing and the venue was totally packed. The energy was pumping as they took the stage. This is a smaller venue which is perfect for getting close to the music without spending a fortune for tickets. This is a perfect place in the heart of the village.
If I could give 0 stars, I would absolutely give 0 stars to this establishment. Because as a female I was assualted. And thrown out because a man ripped open my shirt and ripped another woman’s purse strap off of her shoulder during a Pennywise concert. But security let him stay and threw out both women.
Ordinarily, a grest experience. I frequent The Cave often, from Great White to Cherry Poppin Daddys. Not so much this time. The Cave got greedy and gave Standing Room Only tickets to block VIP seats. Bad Move, Cave. $200.00 on top of the tickets and it was A WASTE. It made what could have been a memorable experience into a frustrating one. I will now think twice before shelling out big bucks for seats that results in the backs of people blocking the view of the stage. Ted Nugent could have been great. Instead, it was mediocre. I would have enjoyed a track on Bluetooth cranked up more than my experience tonight.

2019-08-30Such a gem in the heart of Big Bear Village! The laid back fun vibe of Big Bear carries over into this love music venue.Bands from all over, many from LA, come here to party! There’s something going on nearly every evening. They have a food memo available in addition to a full bar. It seems like most shows are all ages so kids are allowed. Your ticket buys you waiter a chair or a space on the floor to dance in front of the stage. The staff is super friendly and it’s just a fun place to be!

2019-11-16Awesome place Colbie Nicole and Duckie were so helpful and friendly. Great Atmosphere. Also Ben the manager was totally awesome courteous and made us feel very welcome in Big Bear and at the Cave, would definitely come back, especially when Ace Frehley returns. Thank you for a great experience.

2019-08-14Wish they didnt have seating so people could dance more. However, it is a great venue to see tribute bands at a good price. The staff is really nice. Last weekend Yachtley Crew put on an awesome performance.

2019-09-17A very unique venue with three levels of standing space. Mosh pit separate from bar space. Good Audio quality but not amazing. Would definitely hit it up again. Saw Linecutters and Blackflag

2018-04-30This is a good small venue and something the town of Big Bear needed. It has a cool three tier seating/standing platform system for spectators that give the active people a chance to be in the pit, while others can stay on the upper tiers, where it is more mellow. There are three different bar areas that serve beer and mixed drinks as well. The venue has great sound and light equipment for being a small venue as well. The location is also convenient to hit up the town bars after the concert.

2021-12-11Second time we have seen a show here and we love it. Its close enough to home, and they bring in great bands. Some of the sound systems were giving them issues but overall we had an amazing time.

2021-12-05Went to a concert last night to see Zen Zepagen. We could hardly hear the singer. The music drowned him out. The seating is horrible now. We sat in the back and we could hardly see anything. I really like the chairs on the upper balcony behind the stage. I just hope the seating isnt permanent.
