We had a great experience on Platypuss tour and made a wonderful group of friends! Would recommend if youre looking for a fun day to spend with a group. The highlight of the trip was Hans Fahden winery, whereas the other two we to were just okay. They were great price points though - so that was definitely a plus. Overall a fun day!
Touring with Platypus was a completely delightful experience that exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Jared, was very knowledgeable, selected great wineries to tour, was a very personable and pleasant person. I also thought the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend that anyone tour with Platypus.
It was a pleasant experience with good people. The vineyards were nice. The tastings could have been cheaper since it wasnt included in the cost of the tour. The tour guide was friendly and informative. It could have been a shorter time at each vineyard and more vineyards to make it better. Maybe a free bottle of wine to take home for each couple. Nice experience. Great lunch

My wife and I booked Platypus for two tours while out in Sonoma this past week and the Platypus experience was great! We had Jason and Steven as our tour guides and they were awesome, they provided a lot of insight and knowledge about the area and great customer service as well. Wine tours were fantastic, we visited smaller places which was great as it was more of an intimate experience as opposed to visiting the larger locations. Id highly recommend Platypus if youre looking for a tour operator, Ill be booking with them again the next time we make it back out to CA.

Platypus Wine Tours was wonderful! Jason was our tour guide and he was probably the best wine tour guide I have ever had. He was right on time picking us up, very friendly, professional, extremely knowledgable about wine and he took great care of the group. We went to three great wine vineyards and we enjoyed all of them. The lunch they provide was way better than a lot of the lunches you get on these tours. He was extremely professional, yet down to earth and could carry a conversation with anyone who had a question.We had never been to Napa Valley before and are so glad that we took the Platypus tour - they made it a great experience. Had an amazing experience with Platypus Wine Tours and our guide Jason. The unique thing about this company is that the smaller wineries you visit vary from tour to tour and are thoughtfully chosen to give what I think is a more authentic experience of the Napa Valley. Also great value as the wineries all had more accessible tasting prices than some of the other wineries in the valley. We had a blast with a really fun group! Would do it again.

The wine tour today was alright in itself. However, our driver Army took the liberty of tipping himself 20% on my card without asking which felt deceitful and left a really bad taste in my mouth. This was not a group reservation in which its included. I only found out he did this when I tried to tip in cash after paying. The service up to that point was fine, but its the principle that matters to me and dishonesty is a real deal-breaker. I didnt want to argue in front of the rest of the bus but honestly Id like a refund on the whole gratuity.
Just used Platypus this past week for my 50th birthday party.. the tour bus was able to accommodate 17 of us with no problem.. Skipper was amazing getting us to and from every winery we visited .. making it a wonderful experience that will last a lifetime🍾🥂🍷

We had a great day on our wine tour of Napa Valley yesterday. Sam took us to three wineries that we would never have found on our own. He also gave us a complete history of the area, and was the best guide ever! The other guests on the tour were great fun to be with, and we were sad when we had to go our separate ways. The included lunch was very nice, but the wines were amazing, and there was definitely something for everyone. The guides at each stop were knowledgeable and passionate about their wines. Would definitely book again!
I cant say enough good things about Platypus Wine Tours. If youre heading to Napa and youre a little lost as to what to do while youre there, I whole-heartedly recommend you put your trip in Platypus hands. Greg was a passionate, knowledgeable and funny tour guide and the wineries he picked out for us were unique and amazing. Each winery we showed up at was ready for our group with a dedicated table and knowledgeable staff. And the lunch that was provided was delicious. The U-shaped seating allowed us to really get to know the people we were sharing our day with and we had an amazing time. Shout-out to Omaha, San Diego and Santa Cruz, you guys helped make our trip fun and memorable.
We did a full-day tour on September 23, 2019. Our tour guide was Rich Brumley and he was amazing. Rich called us twice before our arrival to discuss what type of wines we liked, where we wanted to go, and he made some fabulous recommendations. He picked us up at our hotel in Napa the morning of our tour and was amazing all day. He made all of our appointments for tastings and also coordinated lunch -- it was the perfect day. We could not have been happier with the tour, the guide, the process or anything else. We certainly recommend Platypus Tours.
I went to Napa for my Stagette and we had a blast on this wine tour! We went everywhere! Oh my gosh. We had snacks, and lunch, and the bus was packed with water and stuff. They even had vegan options for some of the people that were vegan. I really cant think of anything I would change, it was such an amazing time! Thank you!! 5 stars for sure

He provided an amazing lunch; which he put time and effort into. We visited local midsize wineries, which gave us a more intimate and in depth experience. We would absolutely book again!!
My friend and I LOVED our join-in group tour of Napa Valley. Our driver, Jason, was so nice and picked great wineries that discounted tasting fees ($20) because we were with Platypus. Comfortable transportation with AC. The lunch they provided was actually so good. Overall, great value and I will book this tour for my next trip to Napa!
Tour was great. Army was great! He really went out of his way to show us wineries but also sneak in a stop at an Italian grocer and peak at some redwoods. Lots of others had multiple days booked with these folks, but we were only in town the day. Recommend not booking dinner before 8pm so you have lots of time to party on the bus.
Had an awesome tour with Jason! Not only did he have great taste in music with a playlist that kept everyone happy, but he was knowledgeable and fun and took us to some really neat wineries we would not have found on our own. Overall an amazing day, would definitely use Platypus again.

We had an awesome time on our wine tour with our driver/tour guide Bob. He was very funny, informative and took us to three wineries. Each one one was unique in its own way. Plenty of room on the bus and we met some amazing people. Be ready to have fun. I am a beer guy, but tasted many good wines. I would highly recommend taking this tour. Thank you Bob!
This was a great company. 4 Wine tours/tastings. Got to meet 2 owners. Great lunch also met some very specific dietary needs for Gluten/dairy free. Dan did a great job, a local with tons of local knowledge. If you want a more boutique experience and want to feel like a rock star this is the tour you need to book. This was our first time to Napa and it helped us learn a ton to venture out after this and do some solo tours armed with the information on wine and the area we learned on this tour. Again this is a great company to work with and it made our trip to Napa outstanding.

From the beginning Platypus was wonderful, responsive, gracious and extremely helpful. Doug assisted me in planning the best wine tour trip and meeting all of our needs. He even assisted in providing advise for other things to do outside of our wine tour day. When our tour day arrived we were blown away, Rob was absolutely wonderful and extremely hospitable. He told us knowledge of the area, was very easy to talk to and he pulled multiple favors at the various wineries to make our experience the best ever. Would highly suggest Platypus to anyone!
Fantastic tour! Our guide, Andy, was stellar. He is so knowledgeable not just about wine, but also the many, many, many vineyards. He took us to a few off the beaten path, and we were welcomed warmly with spectacular discounted tastings and tours.I was against booking a tour initially because I felt wed rather go at our own pace and see the wineries of our choice. However I am SO happy that I booked a tour w Platypus (as a package w hot air balloon ride). It was an opportunity to experience some very special wineries with an insider, and we learned so much - a terrific primer before going out on your own.Andy provided us with some delicious cheeses, crackers, bottled water, and a picnic lunch of different sandwiches, salads, fruit, and dessert during or tour, and dropped us off at our hotel after. We had some great people from around the world in it for group, and it was a joy tasting with them.I highly recommend Platypus, and very highly recommend Andy - we will certainly book these tours on our future trips.
I wish I had the amazing experience everyone else here seemed to have, but I want to warn others what they might be in for on this tour. My husband and I booked this tour as part of our anniversary trip. I was SO excited to enjoy some wines, enjoy some scenery and just relax. However, this quickly became a college course on wines, with hardly any wine.The tour first took us to Lassiter winery. The woman at Lassiter who poured the wines lectured us for an hour. We learned every nitty gritty detail of the wines, and then some. I mean, we even sat through a story about the previous owner of a train pictured on one of the wine bottles for 15 minutes. I was hoping we would be able to enjoy how beautiful their property was, but instead we sat and were lectured for what seemed like forever. I was so bored I was almost in tears. When the woman was finally done talking, the tour guide jumped in with his own stories. We didnt even have a chance to get to know the other people on the wine tour at all. To top it off, we went through all this without so much as a full glass of wine. At least if we were going to have to listen to hours of people talking, give us a full pour!Next we went to Deerfield. I was hoping the tour would get better, but it did not. At this winery we ate our lunch in the cave. Who wants to eat in a cave when you have the beautiful scenery of Sonoma?! We did a tasting at Deerfield, and thankfully the man pouring the wines did not talk as much as the woman from Lassiter. However, the tour guide seemed to take this as his opportunity to speak at length about everything he knew about wine (which is... extensive). Worse, he didnt join our group at the table to talk, but stood awkwardly behind me for 30 minutes lecturing. Again, we didnt really have a chance to speak to anyone on our tour.After two excruciatingly boring tastings, my husband and I couldnt take anymore. We asked to be dropped off at our hotel. This was our anniversary, and it was honestly the least fun thing we could have done for it. What I imagined would be a relaxing afternoon, enjoying wine, learning *a little bit*, turned into a horribly boring course on wine with barely any wine.Everyone I have spoken to who took a wine tour in Sonoma seems to have enjoyed their tour thoroughly. I dont know if we just got a dud of a tour, but this was miserable for us. I would never recommend anyone take a platypus wine tour after the experience we had. I would suggest that either: a. this tour be rebranded as an educational tour with a few tastings, not a wine tour or b. have the tour guide moderate the tour better, so participants can enjoy more wine, more socializing with each other, and less lecturing. We had such a limited time in Sonoma, and I am so disappointed we decided to use one of our days on this tour.Edit: spoke with the manager Don, and he was very apologetic and was kind enough to refund us. They are a company that stands behind their work, and I greatly appreciate that. I do think that out experience was not everyones experience, and we just had an unfortunate day.
Amazing tour company. Greg was our driver and host, and he sure took care of us. He was very knowledgeable and passionate.We went to four wineries:1. Provenance Vineyards2. Fairwinds Estate Winery3. David Fulton Winery4. Auburn James Tasting Room+ There were several photo opportunities in between.+ I never felt rushed during the tastings!+ Snacks were great+ Sunscreen was offered+ Lunch was DELICIOUS! For those who have been on the tour, you know Im talking about that delicious balsamic sauce...Our group had an awesome vibe. I would definitely recommend this tour!!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Wine Train experience. The food was excellent and the scenery beautiful. We loved our tour of the Castillo diAmoroso. The Platypus staff is very knowledgeable of the Valley, wineries, and the varietals in the area. They were very accommodating and concerned after my mother fell and they handled the incident with professionalism and caring. A special shout out to Angel who volunteered to get my mother a wheelchair and drive her around during our tour. Such a nice young man!We would recommend this company and trip to anyone. Well worth it!

Amazing tour of some of the smaller Napa wineries. We went during Covid and everything was put together so well. Our tour guide Linda was AMAZING. She was great at everything about being a Napa Valley tour guide- she let us know all about Napa’s origins, facts about how the fires have effected Napa, she knew everything about each winery we passed, and the wineries that we went to were phenomenal. Lunch was also delicious and they took any dietary restrictions or needs I to account. Linda knew everyone there and I think we got special treatment for being with Platypus. 100% recommended and will tell all of our friends who want to go to Napa. If you want to go on a wine tour in Napa, go Platypus!!
Always a great time and their tour guides are the best! We had Peter this last time and he was exceptional. When we couldnt get into one of the wineries we requested for the tour because they were booked, they went ahead and booked us a reservation for the next day. Top notch service!
My husband and I recently took a Platypus wine tour on the recommendation of a co-worker. The entire experience was amazing. From the first moment our tour guide Steve picked us up at our hotel everything was perfect, he made everyone feel very comfortable. We met some fabulous other couples on the tour. We were treated to 4 small wineries, we had wonderful, personal attention at each winery. The cheese platter as well as the picnic lunch were amazing. The whole day was so enjoyable, it was the highlight of our week in Napa. I would not hesitate to recommend Platypus tours to anyone.
Stay away. This tour company is not for larger groups who want to actually drink and have fun. Good tour for a smaller group of less than 3. Our driver was TERRIBLE. When we complained about how terrible he was, he said “well my 15% tip is guaranteed”. There are other companies out there, better off using them.
My husband and I LOVED Platypus Tours! We had our first experience with Mark as our driver and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, and he took us to some amazing wineries. It was also a plus that lunch was included. My husband and I are both vegetarians and they had some great food for us as well. We enjoyed the tours so much that we booked another trip a few days later and was fortunate enough to have Rob as our driver. He was fantastic! I have already recommended Platypus Tours to a few friends of mine who are planning to come to the Napa/Sonoma area. This was my husbands first trip out west and it was a trip to remember thanks in part to Platypus Tours. Thank you!!
Bob was amazing. Loved he had lots of knowledge about the grapes, the area, and understanding of the wine process. Felt like we got an experience that wouldnt be found going on our own. We even got to do a fun sugar test.
We had a group of six that toured three wineries with Alicia and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was great to see some of the smaller wineries in the area for a bit more of a personal experience. Alicia was fantastic, she was very knowledgeable on everything Napa (wine making process, local restaurants, etc.). The provided lunch was very good as well, just enough food to finish the day. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The four vineyards we visited were excellent and we were met by wonderful hosts at each. It was so enjoyable and relaxing being driven around in a very comfortable and spacious vehicle. Went on a tour January 17. Second time Ive gone with Platypus! They do an awesome job. I had Greta the first time and requested her again this time. She takes you to some of the smaller wineries that you would have otherwise probably never heard of or experience. Very unique places with great wine! Lots of fun! The tour is limited to 10-12 people so it is much easier to have a great experience.
The Platypus tour was an awesome experience. We had Mark as a tour guide and he was not only knowledgeable, but entertaining and a real host on and off the bus. The tour went to 1 mid-major brand winery and 3 smaller wineries that really enabled the group to get the one on one experience that we were looking for on the tour. We drove by the major wineries and saw crowds of people and lines all over, so the company definitely chose the right stops. The lunch and snacks provided also helped get us through the day, mixing the right amount of protein/fats with our wine so we had a great tasting experience each place.I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a personal wine tour experience and tremendous entertainment.

We recently went to Napa for the first time for our one-year wedding anniversary. As it was our first time in the region, we decided to sign-up for a group tour on our first day tasting to get a feel for the region and take advantage of a driving service so that we could relax and enjoy the day. Our B&B highly recommended Platypus, so we decided to go with the recommendation. Karl was our tour guide for the day, and from the first moment we met him we knew we were lucky! He was extremely knowledgeable about the region and each individual winery, set us up at 4 wonderful boutique wineries throughout the day complete with a delicious lunch and amazing cheeses. He was professional, friendly and went above and beyond to be sure we had a great time and were able to taste our favorite wines. Im a Chardonnay lover, and he convinced two of the wineries to allow me to taste their reserve Chardonnays on the house. We had a great day and recommend Platypus to any first-timers or veterans who want a reasonably priced group tour. We will definitely be booking with Karl for a private tour next time were in town!
I am happy to report that there was absolutely NO issues with our tour with Andy. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind. I dont think we could have had a better time. And the follow-up email congratulating my fiance and I on our recent engagement was very nice. I will definitely recommend Platypus Tours and mention they should request Andy himself.The smaller vineyards were very intimate and made you feel like you were having drinks at a friends house. The wines were great as well! So nice that we bought 9 bottles! Just wrapped up my fourth Platypus Wine Tour, and absolutely loved it. Alison was our guide, this time, and she was fantastic. Ive been on this tour once with family, and three times with friends, and its such an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Napa Valley looking for a great tour that gives you the opportunity to try some of the best wines out there.
My husband and I took the tour on September 21st and absolutely LOVED it! It was so great to tour the small, unknown, family-owned wineries. Platypus put together a GREAT day for us. It was 6 hours of pure fun and we enjoyed our little group and Karl, our guide, was an absolute blast. He went above and beyond for us and all of his stories and quick facts were an awesome bonus. The Platypus Tour was definitely my favorite part of our entire trip and Ill never forget it. Well worth the $$, highly recommended - I know well be back for another one!
Loved our wine tour with Harvey as our guide! He had called ahead to the wineries and made sure we got fantastic service at each stop. We had delicious tastings and fantastic tours (one that even included a cave tour with barrel tasting) as well as a chocolate pairing at the last stop. We visited places I never would have thought to go and they ended up being some of my most favorites of our whole entire trip. And the lunch that was provided was very tasty too! Thank you so much for such a great time and wonderful experience for our first time in Napa!
We had a fantastic experience with Platypus Wine Tours! We did a private wine tour, visiting 3 wineries in Sonoma. We gave Platypus our price range for tastings and they made the reservations. Our tour guide/driver, Joe was wonderful. He kept us on track timewise, brought a cooler with ice for the picnic lunch we packed, and set up the lunch table at a winery while we were tasting. There was a cheese and cracker platter and bottled water provided in the van.
My wife and I recently took part in a Platypus tour this weekend for my birthday. It was top quality from beginning to end. I must admit I was a bit reluctant on going on a group tour since I have had some negative experiences in other areas; however, Platypus was top notch.Chris Largent was our tour guide who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on the local area and wineries. You could immediately tell his previous work in the industry came into handy! We went to 4 great wineries that he handpicked. Great diversity and wineries that you probably would have passed on if you did a tour on your own. These were the hidden gems and added a more intimate experience even w/ a group of our size. We always had a table and chairs set up at each shop when we showed up so that was great.All in all, I highly recommend for anyone in Napa wanting and looking for the perfect wine tasting experience. I will recommend Platypus wine tours to anyone that asks! We did a private tour in the Lexus with Lucy, she was AWESOME! I planned this for my husbands birthday and Lucy and I emailed several times about what kind of experience we were looking for. She booked a cave tour and private tasting for us ahead of time and we had a rough idea of what we were doing next, but decided to play it by ear. When we came out of our first tasting/tour she had called ahead to the next place to make sure they werent busy. She was knowledgeable about the area, the wines and the wineries. We visited a total of 4 wineries, each was perfect. We had a leisurely day and she was not pushy at all. I chose Platypus Tours mostly on their high reviews everywhere and I am happy to add my own 5 stars. No need to look any further, you have found the right company to get you to the right places safely as you enjoy your day in Napa/Sonoma!
Our day with Platypus was exactly what we were looking for out of a wine tour! We lucked out with beautiful weather and great people on our tour, but our guide Greg, the small wineries we visited, and the special accommodations Platypus tours made for my gluten free diet were really the icing on the cake! Greg was fun and informative, and the relationships he had with the people at each vineyard really made for a special day. Hopper Creek and Razi were the two highlights that I would definitely recommend! Plus, the cheese with gluten free crackers, as well as the sandwich on gluten free bread, were both delicious! Definitely would go again and recommend to friends!
Platypus Wine Tours provides a very entertaining wine tour experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and very flexible. He quizzed us on what our tastes and background in wine and made some recommendations as to the wineries we could visit, and in no time we had our short list, We had a join in tour, so of course we didnt know the other people we were with but by end of the tour I feel like wed made a bunch of new friend. First rate, Id go back.

Just wanted to drop a line to say how much I love this company. My fiance and I did a Napa Valley wine tour with my mom and her boyfriend a few weeks ago. Our guide, Ken Brewer, was amazing. He was informed, accommodating, friendly, engaged, and professional. The tour itself was such an experience. We were so relaxed and well taken care of. The other people in our group were friendly and fun. The wineries were beautiful and welcoming. The scenery was idyllic, and the wine . . . oh the wine. We are definitely coming back to Napa and we are definitely touring with Platypus. Thanks so much for a great day; one of the best memories of our vacation!

We loved the Platypus Wine Tour! Steve was our guide and was amazing! He kept it fun, chose great little wineries and we loved hearing all of the secret details he knew about the industry and the area. I highly recommend Platypus to anyone who likes to meet new people and to have fun. The wine, cheese and picnic lunch dont hurt either.
We had an amazing time and honestly couldnt have planned it better ourselves. Our tour guide Mark Puleo organized a tour of 4 wineries (Floral Springs, David Fulton, Hopper Creek and St. Claire Brown), all smaller and more family based operations. Each place was unique, beautiful and introduced us to some wonderfully nice people. We ended up walking away with 6 bottles of wine, so that speaks for itself :)Mark was funny, knowledgeable and was always check in on us to make sure we were comfortable and happy. They encourage interacting with your group so you end up making some new friends, if even for just a day!My husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary in Napa and this was definitely a highlight for us. We plan on coming back sometime and will definitely be booking more tours with Platypus!
We joined Platypus wine tours on our anniversary, it was fantastic! More specifically Karl was wonderful, he made the time great and enjoyable. It was nice to be with 10 other people from around the country talking and getting to know everyone. He drove us around to the smaller homey wineries so that the people making the wine and overseeing the wine process could talk with us. However, that wasnt until after he got to know us and see what we all wanted to do. We got such a unique experience at every winery. Karl even requested nice places to eat since it was our anniversary. I have already told all my friends about it and suggested that we go back again soon. Thanks to Platypus wine tours, our time in Napa was even more enjoyable.
We went on two wine tours while in Napa and did not enjoy the first (Wine Trolley). Scott at Platypus Wine Tours was absolutely AMAZING! His knowledge of wine and fun spirit made our trip. He has a lot of personal connections at wineries, so we were able to get all of our tasting at discounted rates (very discounted). We stopped at a total of 4 wineries, had a delicious lunch, and they had beverages and a cheese plate on the bus. Highly recommend going on this tour, and especially getting Scott as your guide.
We had an amazing time in Napa. Rod was excellent - very knowledgable about the wines and the special intimate wineries. I was so glad our first day was with Platypus tours to help educate us a bit about the area the wines, etc. We had 9 in our group. We had so much fun learning what part of the country everyone came from. The choice of wineries was great. Our second day there we went to some of the larger wineries on our own and decided we like the Platypus options much better.The lunch was wonderful and it was a nice touch to have the cheese and crackers on the bus for us.Thank you Rod. This is definitely the best wine tour Ive had so far. Our tour guide, Michelle, was fun, nice and very knowledgeable. Also, the smaller sized tour made for a much better experience.They did a great job picking small, unique wineries. Im definitely booking with Platypus again!

Our tour guide, Mark, was absolutely the perfect person to give a tour of Napa. He was charming, funny and really knew about wine making.We made stops at four wineries and each was a bit different. Platypus Tours was a perfect choice for our wine tour in Napa. From beginning to end they exceeded my expectations, making it a fantastic experience. They were friendly and accommodating when I had some changes prior to the tour date. On the day of our tour guide, Steve, called with and ETA and exact pick up details. He organized a wonderful tour to some lovely wineries we probably wouldnt have found otherwise. Steves knowledge of wine, the region and the wineries was an added bonus. The wine and cheese platter between stops and endless supply of bottled water was greatly appreciated. The lunch was delicious as well! The transportation was fantastic. I was expecting a large van, but instead we had a small limo bus...very comfortable for everyone. This was well worth the price and I will book with Platypus again on my next visit to Napa/Sonoma. I highly recommend them!
Platypus Tours are the best way to enjoy wine country! We just went on our third join-in tour with them and we had a great time as always. Weve also done a private tour, which I definitely recommend if you are with a larger group. Were already planning on doing another Platypus tour on our next trip with some other couples and we cant wait!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I joined a tour last Friday with 2 other girlfriends. We had such a nice time.Karl was the best tour guide one could ask for. Immediately upon stepping foot on the bus, I knew that this day was going to be great. I thoroughly enjoyed his charisma and local knowledge. My girlfriend and I went on tour of Napa with Samantha as our guide. She was great! Extremely knowledgeable and she paid close attention to the level of knowledge and personal preferences of the people in our group. We really liked the selection of wineries she made, especially the smaller family-owned places. They just felt more personable, attentive, and not as touristy as the big-name places you always hear about. We would definitely go on a tour with her again.
This was my second Platypus wine tour, and I will continue to book them when I go to Napa area! They take you to awesome wineries you may not have heard of otherwise, and you get either discounted tasting fees or the option to purchase wine and waive the fees. Their relationship with wineries means you get way more wine and behind the scenes tours. They’re extremely knowledgeable and well versed in the area. By far the best value for your money, and you’ll make friends for life with the other people on your tour!
Would highly recommend Platypus Wine Tours. Very efficient, friendly and clear communication throughout the process. We were a family of 4, with a 23 and 25 year old, one of whom doesnt really like wine! So I did have some trepidation about this trip. I shouldnt have worried. Kym our guide was fantastic and helped introductions among the tour party of 12 - we all got on so well that the people at the vineyards had to butt in to say their bit. Kym was an informative guide, was very attentive and really went the extra mile, giving great customer service. We went to 4 different wineries and had a fantastic experience, even the non-wine drinker became a convert.This is a comment about Napa Vineyards, rather than Platypus: Dont expect a new glass with each wine. Only one vineyard gave us a fresh glass with the red wine, the other 3 vineyards gave us 1 glass for all 4-5 wines. This is different to other tastings in Australia and France, where you get a new glass with each wine.
This tour was excellent. Steve, our guide, was really friendly and very informative. He choose wonderful wineries and everyone was incredibly nice. His selected choices of vineyards were unique and off the beaten path a bit. You felt welcomed at all the locations and got to have a look into some of the more boutique/smaller wineries. We also had a delicious picnic lunch that was fresh and perfectly timed. Great pace and wonderful experience.Great tour, great tour guide, would do it again in a heartbeat!
We booked onto the Platypus Wine Tour for our honeymoon, with the wonderful Mark as our tour guide. We had the most wonderful day! Accompanied by 8 other people who made the whole trip a hoot, the 4 wineries were great and the tastings incredible. It was everything we hoped Napa to be, and we would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a taster of the wine region! Thanks again to Mark, what a star!
My sister visited me in SF for her birthday over Labor Day weekend and we booked the Platypus for exploring Sonoma. We had an absolute blast! Alicia is an excellent tour guide! She is very knowledgeable about wine and wine country. She took us to boutique wineries instead of the more commercialized locations, which made the experience very personal. She prepared an awesome lunch, packaged our purchases (probably in her best interest) and took a bus full of intoxicated jokers with a grain of salt. All around excellent tour. Oh, she even phoned a friend about “no reservation campsites” in the area since all of the lodging was booked up.
The best decision that we made on our trip to Napa was to follow the advice of our friends who recommended Platypus Tours! We did 2 days of group tours and on our last day we did a private tour. We honestly could not have been more pleased!! Karl was INCREDIBLE! So nice to have a true local give you a tour of his hometown. We visited a wide range of wineries and loved every single one! Platypus is definitely the best bang for your buck. We are hoping to visit Napa again soon and Platypus will definitely be our first call when we book our trip!
Napkin Dave was our driver and did a fantastic job taking us to some wonderful and reasonable tasting rooms. Great group dynamic and COVID safe so overall a five star experience.
My only Wine Touring Company that I use when in California! Their drivers are knowledgeable very cordial and really know their winneries. Also if they never been they will say it. Today is our first time etc. Been with them like 9 times.
This wine tour group is great! I booked them to tour Napa, and had so much fun. Samantha was a great hostess, and definitely set the bar high. She was accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and super sweet. This tour group offers to pick you up from your hotel, drive you to 4 different wineries, & provide a good lunch--all for $99/person. Since I live in San Francisco, Ill definitely book this group again and will recommend it to all my friends and visitors.The only caveat to this tour group is that they dont tell you which wineries youll be visiting. Some might find the mystery exciting.

My Husband and I took a Platypus Tour from our Inn in Napa and we saw so many beautiful places we wouldnt have otherwise found on our own. Chris Largent, our tour guide was incredible in his service and knowledge of the area and of the wine making process. He had good relationships with everyone we met and he did a fantastic job preparing our lunch. I highly recommend Platypus and I will go again when we have the chance!

After having taken the Platypus Tour of Napa with a wonder driver, Greg, I couldnt wait to book another tour, this time of the Sonoma region.This time Id come for a reunion adventure with two other childhood friends. Andy was our guide and he did a terrific job, taking us to four fantastic boutique wineries and answering all of our questions. He was fun and very professional.The buses are small and comfortable and you get to know your fellow travelers quickly. By the time you finish your first tasting, youre chatting away like old friends.I would recommend Platypus to anyone going to California wine country. My husband and I and another couple did both the Sonoma tour with Scott and the Napa tour with Alison, and we all agreed that we would do it again next time we visit wine country. The buses were comfortable, our drivers were fantastic, the lunch provided was perfect (nice and light, and loved the quinoa salad!), and we loved the wineries that we went to. They were small, intimate and we learned so much at each of them. We even signed up for a couple of the wine clubs. We highly recommend Platypus and have already told our friends about it.Well certainly use them again in the future, and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Our day with Platypus was one of our favorites across a 2-week Northwest vacation. Our tour guide Lauren was friendly and fun. We were picked up at our hotel right on time, the bus was nice and comfy, and the food provided was delicious! Most importantly, the vineyards we were taken to were excellent. When I was planning our Napa trip, I was pretty overwhelmed by how many vineyards there are, and I felt that I wouldnt be able to find and chose ones that were worth going to. Platypus definitely solved that problem. Couldnt be more pleased with our experience.

What an amazing experience. They take you to amazing wineries where you meet people that truly care about your experience. All of the wine that you taste is amazing. We first did the Sonoma Valley tour and had a great time. Our group had 11 people in it, it was the perfect size. The whole tour is intimate, fun, and knowledgeable. I can not say enough about how enjoyable the whole experience was. The second day we had choose a different tour group in Napa. They were terrible. We called Platypus and told them what was going on and asked if they could find room for us in their Napa tour that day. They fit us right in and were so accommodating. They saved our whole day and the Napa tour was just as amazing as the Sonoma Valley tour. There is a reason they are #1 on Trip Advisor. I strongly recommend Platypus. Gary was our guide on both days. He is incredible. I hope that you get him as your guide; you’re guaranteed to have an amazing time!
This was an excellent experience! It was the first time out in Napa for both me and my girlfriend so I signed us up for this tour. Great decision as this is the best way to go out and see wine country.Steve, our guide, was simply awesome. He was on time, friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. The trip to the smaller wineries was great because you get much more personalized attention at each winery and PT saves you the hassle of having to book appointments in advance at these places as well as the driving :) Youll get plenty of water on board along with with a cheese and cracker platter and lunch is provided mid-day.Great experience and definitely worth the price. Id recommend this to anyone going out that way.
We had the BEST time on our tour with Platypus. It was our first time to Napa Valley and we could not have asked for a better tour or guide! Greg Cox was so much fun and very knowledgeable! We had an amazing experience with Platypus from initial contact to the end of the actual wine tour. Amanda was an amazing guide who helped us plan a great day that fit all four of our tastes. She was involved just enough to teach us things and make sure we were taken care of but also gave us space during each visit at a winery. We toured 4 wineries in Sonoma and loved every minute of it. Would absolutely use Platypus again!
My husband and I went on a Platypus group tour in Napa and Platypus private tour in Sonoma (it was out first time in Wine Country). We had the best time on both of the tours!Karl was our guide for the group tour - he was fun, knowledgeable and brought us to some really awesome places that I dont think we wouldve ever seen if not on this tour.David was our guide for our private tour in Sonoma. He went to great lengths to design a tour specifically for my husband and me. He got in touch with me a few times before the trip to make suggestions, ask about our tastes in wine, and our budget for the tasting fees (I thought this was very considerate!).It seems that both Karl and David had great relationships with the owners and/or employees of each spot we went to - which made for a really special experience.We would recommend Platypus to anyone who is looking to experience the beauty and wonderful wines of Napa and Sonoma. We also plan to go on another Platypus tour when we return to California next fall!
Platypus tours with Greta was an ineradicable way to begin our Napa vacation! The wineries were great to visit and offered a great glimpse into wine country while avoiding the mainstream-commercial wineries. The tastings were priced well and were personable. Each of the four wineries we visited had a different vibe, making the day pass quickly with all the excitement!I would recommend this tour to anyone and will take it again the next time I visit Napa (hopefully soon!).
My mom and I booked a tour with Platypus Wine Tours because we didnt really know what other options were out there, and a blogger who lives in the area recommended the tour after she took it herself a couple of years ago. What a great day! Our tour guide, Scott, picked us up at our hotel and asked us what wineries we had already been to (none - lol!) so as not to show us the same place twice. Then, he led us onto the bus (about 10 other people), introduced himself, and off we went. He took us to 4 smaller wineries, and we met the owners at 2 wineries! It was such a fun experience. At the second winery, he setup lunch for us, which included croissant sandwiches, quinoa salad, and a really great dessert. It was such a nice, healthy lunch! Additionally, he provided a cheese and cracker tray with some great cheeses for us to snack on throughout the day. It was a wonderful day - we didnt have to worry about anything at all, and each winery offered a unique experience that we would not have gotten anywhere else. I will definitely be using Platypus tours over-and-over again!***NOTE: If you have a special dietary restriction, Platypus will pack you a special lunch, which is equally as delicious as the normal selection. One member of our group had a gluten allergy, and he received a gluten-free bread for his sandwich, gluten-free cookies, and gluten-free crackers to enjoy with the cheese tray.
I have used Platypus Tours several times during my trip to Napa and Sonoma. They are by far the most knowledgeable wine tour company, and the drivers understand what true hospitality means. Platypus Tours offers lunch on their tours. The drivers are also courteous to ask what type of wines his/her guests enjoy, and customize their tours based on their guests preferences! Love Love Love!
Absolute wonderful day and tour with great value. Our tour guide Patty was exceptionally knowledgeable and took us to some fantastic off-the-beaten path wineries (avoiding the big tourist draws). Really quality wines with a great cheese tray, good lunch, and extremely helpful in facilitating transport of wine back home, etc.Cant recommend this wine tour highly enough given the convenience and quality of everything!
Absolutely fantastic tour! Gary, our guide, was such an amazing addition. He was so accommodating, a ton of fun and incredibly knowledgeable. Not only did we visit wonderful off-the-beaten-path wineries, but we also learned so much about wine. Each winery taught us more about wine and the wine making process than we ever imagined and Gary was so kind and generous with ensuring we all learned those little things about the wine tasting process. My husband and I live in San Francisco and took guests visiting from out of town to Napa for the weekend. Our hotel (Andaz) recommended this tour and we are so glad they did! Platypus made it very easy for us to show up, experience a great mix of wineries (some we wouldnt have found ourselves which is great) and kept us fed and hydrated throughout the tours.Our guide, Dave, was amazing. He had a really interesting winery background and is a native of Napa--all of which came in handy throughout the day. He made sure our group (comprised of roughly 10 people who didnt know each other at the beginning) made a little small talk and had some laughs in the beginning to get us comfortable with each other and set the tone for the next several hours.We have plans to return twice more over the next two months (with more family/friends who are visiting from out of town) and are booking those tours through Platypus as well.
Ken Brewer was a great tour guide! He took us to the smaller, independent wineries we might not have otherwise found on our own. He also updated his original plan to accommodate a request for a specific winery and made it work.I recommend this for anyone looking a great day touring the region!
This was my second tour with Platypus and it was great! My husband and I had 2 days only in Napa and had a wonderful day with Alison, our guide. We love wine and this was our 3rd trip to the valley. Would recommend to anybody from experienced wine drinkers to novices!
We planned a girls trip to Napa Valley and wanted to be responsible drinkers so we booked a tour with Platypus in Feb 2016, and our guide was Mike. He was fantastic! He wore multiple hats, he was the driver, the chef, the pastry chef, wine packer, & water hydrated. Mike was funny and very knowledgeable about the area and the wines. At our last wine stop, the owner of the winery was not feeling well and instead of cancelling, Mike stepped up to the plate and helped the owner present his wines.Loved the tours, it has a nice variety of wineries. Best one was Flora Springs with the cave wine barrel storage and it had spectacular views of vineyards.
My wife and I visited Napa for our 10 year anniversary; first time visiting. We took two tours, from two different companies, and hired a driver for a third day. Platypus was the best day and most economical of the three as well. Our driver/guide, Chris, was fantastic; he was engaging, taught us a ton, and took great care of us. For the Napa novice and the old-hats, I would highly recommend Platypus tours!!! Well definitely do it again the next time were visiting!

My wife and I had an AWESOME time!!! We were able to meet friends who were taking the same tour. It was a great experience to see wineries and different landscape Northern California has to offer. I know of a few of my peers that are going to be in the area. I would highly recommend they contact Platypus Tours and take a day to see the wineries Sonoma has to offer.
My friends and I had a FANTASTIC time on the Platypus tour! Our guide, Mike Small, met and chatted with us first to get the vibe of the group before planning out the vineyards we would visit that day. He took us to smaller, Mom & Pop type vineyards which we really appreciated since we were able to taste and purchase wine that is not distributed in stores! He also provided a much needed cheese plate during the drive between vineyards, tons of bottled water and a lovely picnic lunch at one of the especially picturesque vineyards on the tour. If you are looking for a fun, educational, unpretentious tour of wine country, this is your tour! I will be going back and requesting Mike Small again too!
My hustband and I visited Napa for the first time and had the most incredible tour without Platypus! Our tour guide, Sam, was so friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. I learned so much about him and it enriched our entire trip knowing the history and fun facts about the Valley and wine. We went to 4 boutique wineries that we never would have found if we had simply Googled wineries. We even got to speak to the owner at one of them! It was an incredible experience and we will definitely do another tour next time we are in Napa!

This was by far our favorite experience during our entire stay in the Napa and San Francisco area. Each stop was very well-planned and we gained an incredible new understanding and appreciation for wine, the region, and the various wineries and their owners. We loved the individual attention and hospitality at each winery and felt comfortable asking questions. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun, but also extremely patient as he kept our rowdy group on track. I was overwhelmed by what an amazing experience this was and will truly never forget it!
We had a great time on our tour with our guide Andy! He was so knowledgeable about the Napa/Sonoma area, different regions, wines, etc. We had a group of 10 and went to 4 boutique wineries in Napa! It was great because we got to tour the whole winery, even some of the vines, barrel rooms, and bottling centers. The wine was all delicious and we had a great day on our Platypus Wine Tour! We had an amazing experience on the Napa Valley wine tour with our guide Army. The bus was nice and comfortable, they provided us with plenty of water, and Army was very knowledgeable about the area and about wine in general. For this Sunday tour, Platypus picked us up in San Francisco which was a huge help. Army made the tour both fun and informative. The four wineries we visited were beautiful and, of course, the wine was amazing. Id definitely recommend Platypus!

Highly recommended! We had such an amazing time! Our tour guide, Ken Brewer, was extremely knowledgable about the Sonoma area and knew tons about all different types of wine. He took us to small, boutique style wineries which all gave us a very detailed run through about their wine and how they go about producing it. It was great not to have to drive and figure out which wineries to visit, but to just have the opportunity to taste lots of different wines and enjoy the beautiful Sonoma scenery! The three other couples on your tour were all very wonderful people from all over!
One of the best parts of our vacation to wine country was the Platypus Wine Tour. The van had comfortable leather seats and windows all around. Our group of 8 were taken to 4 boutique wineries in Napa for wine tastings and in some cases actually talked with the wine makers. Army, our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and allowed us time to enjoy each winery. By the end of the first wine tasting we were all fast friends!! How can you beat a tour company that picks you up and drops you off at your hotel. For me this was the best way to experience wineries on a smaller and intimate scale. I highly recommend Platypus tours!!
My wife and I had a blast. Army was an amazing guide and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of Napa and wine making in general. We can not recommend this tour enough. We had a nice small group of 10 people. We visited four unique wineries and each one had something different to offer. Regardless of your level of wine enthusiasm, this tour will both increase your knowledge and appreciation for the art of wine making.
This wine tour was amazing! I didnt know what to expect and was blown away. The service is great - they pick you up where youre staying, provide delicious snacks all day long, and an amazing lunch at a vineyard. The other people on the tour were very similar personalities -we all got along great and exchanged contact info after. The vineyards the driver chose were amazing and very off the beaten path. There was no concern of going to ones we already visited on our own. The driver chose small vineyards that were reasonably priced and had very nice and knowledgeable employees. We saw a tour of a vineyard at a very small location to fully understand the process, did a chocolate and wine pairing and saw caves as well. The driver himself was also very knowledgeable and taught us how to properly taste wine and other helpful hints throughout the day! I couldnt have asked for a better experience!

My friend Kate and I had an AMAZING time on your tour. We liked that there was a wide variety of wineries that were visited from really big, to small. Our favorite was the Hess Winery.Allison was AWESOME and very knowledgeable about the region and the wineries, and the picnic lunch was fantastic. I wouldnt hesitate to take this tour again the next time Im in Napa.
My girlfriends and I had a wonderful experience on this tour and would highly recommend it! Our tour guide was so sweet and absolutely everything was thought of...water, snacks, lunch, boxes for wine transport home, etc. This tour was so organized and easy to book. They picked us up at our hotel and dropped us back off at the end of the day. They kept track of all the wine we bought and played the role of photographer. Our tour guide seemed to really enjoy her job and made the day so fun!
We had a great time with Platypus tours! Ken was our tour guide, and he was the best tour guide Ive had (on any tour)! He arrived right on schedule, and was very helpful throughout the day. With Ken, we really felt like he advocated for our group at each winery to get us the best experience possible. We went to 4 wineries, and the day was well paced and very fun. The wineries that Ken chose were great, and we were able to go to some less accessible wineries because of him. The group atmosphere is great, and everyone on the tour clearly had a good time. Ken even went above and beyond for one couple, who had dinner reservations, when he called the restaurant for them to get their reservation changed! The tour was the highlight of our trip to Sonoma, and will be a fond memory for a long time!

My mom and I had a fabulous time on the tour with Rod. He was very informative of the area, took us to some great little wineries and packed us a fab picnic lunch. We had a great group on the bus with us and it was only about 10 people so not too crowded. I would recommend platypus tours to anyone who wants a laid back, fun tour!
We visited with Gary and I was fortunate enough to be sitting close to him so I could have some very interesting discussions as he drove us from vineyard to vineyard. We visited 4 distinct types of wineries from the very low volume selling their wine only on site to one that a little more on the large almost industrial size. They called us the night before to confirm the pickup time at our hotel and we spent a great day with a great group in a great and clean van! We tasted a lot of good wine, had a nice lunch that Gary prepared himself while we were visiting while, Jerri Manthey who starred in survivor by the way, talked to us about the Napa Valle and its great wine! overall, what a great day and one of the highlight of our week in the San Francisco / Napa trip!
WOW!! This was by far the best tasting experience in Napa that we could have asked for. Our guide, Evonne, was absolutely amazing. She definitely knows her wine and the area. She took the time to plan a day that we would have never had without her expertise. We had a blast, made some new friends, and had some incredible wine! Loved our Platypus Tour in Napa last week. Andy took us to 4 smaller family owned wineries. Tastings were discounted and visits included a wine & chocolate pairing, cave tour, and barrel tastings. We explored several different types of wines. It was the perfect way to visit Napa for the first time and learn about the art of wine making. Would highly recommend Platypus Tours!
Platypus Wine tours was exactly what we were looking for! As first timers to Napa we werent sure what to expect or where the best places to go would be and with Platypus Wine Tours we didnt have to. Our outgoing and excellent tour guide Mark took us to four different vineyards/wineries, with all different characteristics and quirks making for the perfect mix. There shouldnt be a question about going on a Platypus Wine Tours, it should be mandatory it is just that good!
We LOVED our wine tour with Mark!! We were a little hesitant about a full-day wine tour, but are so glad we took the plunge and went for it! The tour was great - Mark was so knowledgeable and we got to see so many areas around Napa. The wineries were fabulous - lesser known wineries with incredible wines and fun, knowledgeable staff. Our favorite was Hopper Creek Winery.I would recommend this tour to everyone and anyone! I plan to come back to Napa and will absolutely request a tour with Mark again!

Rod was a great tour guide! -Personable, knowledgeable, funny, laid back, and helpful. He made the tour informative, enjoyable and relaxing. My friend and I really appreciated the intimate feel of each of the vineyards/tastings he took us to.After touring Napa on a shuttle through Platypus and Sonoma on a trolley through another company, the shuttle and Platypus are hands down the way to go! The group size is perfect, the air conditioning/shade on the shuttle made for a better experience and Rod did a much better job of keeping a nice, easy pace throughout the day. Our other tour felt rushed. The Platypus adventure was perfect!
I had a blast. Ken was our tour guide, and he made every effort to make sure everyone was comfortable and having the best time possible. Not only did we get to see private wineries in a private setting, we were also given the opportunity to meet with the owners and ask as many questions as we wanted. Ken had several roles as the photographer, chauffer, wine snob, and all around a good time. It was enjoyable because everyone on the bus had trust in Ken that he knew what he was doing, and we were able to just go with with flow. I have done other wine tours in the past, but nothing compares to this one. I would definitely recommend it.
My wife and I really enjoyed the wine tour. Gary was a wonderful host and took great care of each and everyone one of us. The wineries that we visited were very intimate, it was really nice to be educated by the actual winemakers. I highly recommend platypus wine tours and hope to visit again!
A great experience! The online booking process was easy. They phoned me directly to confirm our details. Our tour guide (Steve) was very friendly and knowledgable and seemed to know just when to give us info and when to let us explore and chat amongst ourselves. He picked out 4 boutique wineries that gave us variety and took us up through the valley. He also choose ones with lower tasting fees or some that waived fees if we bought. Each experience was unique and 22 samples of wine later we were all chatty!! The cheese plate and picnic lunch were delicious and supply of bottled water a great idea. Pick up and drop off at hotel was very welcome as did not want to drive. I would highly recommend Platypus Tours.

I had a great time on this tour! I definitely recommend it. Carl was a fantastic guide--very helpful and friendly. We went to four different wineries. Each was off the beaten path. If youre the kind of person who prefers a small, local business as opposed to a giant corporate store, this is the type of wineries you go to. Lots of fun, very personal, great opportunity to educate yourself about wine. Nice small group. An awesome experience!
What a wonderful experience! This was our first visit to the Sonoma area, so we had heard & read so much about all of the wineries . . . this is a great way to visit & taste some incredible wines! Our tour guide, Sam, who was GREAT! took us to four boutique wineries that were fabulous! Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to venture out and taste a bit! The lunch was great as well

Chris, our tour guide was very patient and energetic. The other 6 people in the bus came from all over the world, which made the experience unique. The selection of wineries was very balanced but geared more so toward lower volume, local operations -which is what we really wanted. The weather in September could have not been more ideal (warm and dry). Overall, it was a great day for wine sampling and we could not be happier with our choice to go with Platypus. Scheduling process was very easy, I filled out the online application the day before our available date, and luckily there were still space for a tour. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our little group of 8 people with Andy Hyman.The boutique wineries were great. We brought wine from each place and shipped a box home. During the tour you also got cheeses after our first winery, then we had lunch after the 2nd place. One of the winery gave us chocolate pairing with tasting and another place gave us food pairing from their own kitchen with our tasting.
Platypus Tours made our first trip to Napa Valley the perfect experience we were hoping for! Greta Yerian was our guide for the Napa tour and she was so enthusiastic that from the first introductions on the bus everyone on the tour went from strangers to a group of friends visiting wine country together! The choice of stops was a wonderful balance of size and variety of wineries. At each stop we were treated as special visitors because we were the Platypus Tour Group. We highly recommend the Platypus Napa Valley Tour and be sure to ask for Greta as your guide. On our 2nd day in Napa, CA we took the Sonoma Valley tour from Platypus Tours with Dave Johnson as our guide. Just like the Napa tour, Dave welcomed everyone and helped us become friends visiting wine country together! The choice of stops was great and we were greeted at each place like close friends because we were the Platypus Tour Group. The picnic lunch and snacks on the bus were the perfect balance with the wine tasting. We also highly recommend the Platypus Sonoma Valley Tour and ask for Dave as your guide.
My husband and I had a fantastic time during our Platypus tour last week in Napa. Our tour guide was Sam and I cannot say enough great things about him. Not only was he super friendly and personable, he was also incredibly knowledgeable about all of the wineries we visited as well as the wine making process.We had taken a tour with another Napa company a couple of years ago in which we visited some of the bigger, more popular wineries - which was also great -- but the main reason we chose Platypus this time is due to the fact that they specialize in the small production, family-owned wineries. Having the opportunity to meet with the actual winemakers in an intimate setting and taking a tour of their properties was amazing. We will absolutely be back and will definitely be taking another tour with Platypus in the near future.Thank you for a great time!
Our group had Army as a guide. We had a lot of fun with him and the entire group. Army had so much information about wine and wineries we visited. We practically came out of the tour as sommeliers! Army sincerely wanted us to have a good time. When we asked for a restaurant recommendation, he didnt hesitate to give us some options and make a reservation himself. He also had some personalized recommendations on wines. My fiance and friends would definitely go on this tour again and we highly recommend it to anyone else!
Took our Napa tour with Bob (Count Bob) yesterday. It was a blast and so much fun! We shared this great day with 2 other couples and definitely are planning to ride with Bob again!Our stops were Hagafen ( my fav), Rutherford Ranch (ask for Dean and do the chocolate pairings), Madrigal (beautiful vistas and got our bottles autographed by the owner), and Flora Springs (wine cave! Need I say more😀). All very spectacular wines and you will definitely be coming home with several great bottles.I love this tour company and we have never visited the same wineries in several trips weve done with them.
My fiancé and I have done this tour twice with Andy and most recently Ron. Both tour guides were awesome and taught us a lot about the history of Napa and of course wine.Our favorite part about this tour was visiting boutique wineries that are less commercialized. On many of these tours we got to spend time with the owners of these wineries and experience wines not typically found in stores.Look forward to booking the next time we are in Napa.
The entire day was well organized, carefully planned and a fun journey up and down the Napa Valley. Our tour guide was spectacular and he took special care to make certain we were back at our hotel in time to prepare for a dinner reservation. Highly recommend Platypus wine tours. Our private driver Rob did an excellent job. Two of our friends that live in San Francisco joined us, they have done many tours/tastings in wine country, and agreed that Rob was by far the best driver/guide they have had.
Great Experience. On my second visit to Napa, I chose Platypus Tours again as I had a wonderful experience the first go. Its a very social experience and you get to see more of the little mom-n-pop wineries out there. We all felt like we learned something on the tour and had some really nice tastings, I specifically learned about the budding and pruning on my tour. I bought wine at 3 of the 4 places we went and was very satisfied at the end of the day. This was a great value for the time, conversations and overall experience. Ill definitely use Platypus again in the future.
My sister and I were in Napa last week and Platypus Tours made our visit so memorable and special! We were originally going to schedule a tour through the Napa Valley Wine Train but they were booked for the week... and Im so glad they were because it lead us to find Platypus. Our tour guide, Rachel, was amazing! She made us feel so welcome from the second she picked us up at our hotel. She was knowledgeable of the area and the wines and SO sweet! We visited 3 wineries that were a smaller, boutique style and 1 that was considered mid-size. We visited Tudal, Casa Nuestra, David Fulton, and Provenance. All were fantastic, but Tudal was my absolute favorite! I am positive that my sister and I would have never discovered these hidden-gem wineries on our own. Thank you, Rachel & Platypus!Other perks of the tour: Plenty of cold, bottled water provided, a cheese & cracker tray to pass after the 1st winery, and a picnic-style lunch at the 2nd winery.It was so nice to leave the planning (and driving!) to someone else. I have already recommended Platypus Tours to others and will continue to do so! I hope to come back to Napa in the future and take another tour with Platypus. :)
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, from beginning to end, Ken Brewster was our tour guide, he went out of his way to let us know wonderful information about wine, wine tasting, the local wineries that we would not want to miss, to a mid morning snack, water, an amazing lunch, and we made lots of wonderful people! We will definitely use Platypus Wine Tours and the future and of course request Ken! It was a great day!
My husband and I went on this tour for his birthday weekend, we flew from Miami. All I can say, is that it was the best decision we could have made! Our group was of 12 people and it was the nicest 10 people I’ve ever met on a trip! Armie our tour guide was a sweetheart, and funniest tour guide ever! The trip was super informative and the wineries picked by Armie were amazing! Lunch and snacks were also great. We took home 10 bottles of delicious whites and reds. I recomend this trip and would do it 100 times over.
I cannot emphasize how great our experience was! From our great tour guide, Steve Hunter to the personalized wine extravaganza. My boyfriend and I spent three full days in Napa Country. This all day tour was by far my favorite day. Not only do you get to see how the small to middle sized wineries run but you learn a lot! Having an interactive bunch, wine hoping was a blast! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a wine filled day, personalized experience and a great time! Thank you guys so much! Karl picked us up at the Ferry we took from San Fran, this was so convenient for us! Karl did a great job at giving the group tons of interesting information. Not just about the wineries, but about Napa, the history and culture. Having a local, who is loved by all of the people at each winery, made the experience that much better. We had an awesome group and we all ended up going out to dinner afterwards! The wineries that Karl chose for us were all unique, he really gave us a wide variety to taste. Lunch was like a delicious, healthy picnic. I have already recommended Karl and Platypus to friends and if Im ever back in the area I will be sure to call them.

When my friends and I booked our wine tour with Playtpus Wine Tours we had no idea what to expect. All I can say is that we had an absolutely amazing day! Our amazing tour guide, Andy, picked us up from our hotel and took us to 4 boutique wineries that were wonderful. We had a snack on the bus and a delicious picnic lunch. Based on a Platypus Tour we took three years ago, we booked two on consecutive days this trip - one to Napa and one to Northern Sonoma. Once again a great experience. Our drivers, Phil (the Rockin Rev) and Pete, were exceptional. They took us to small, limited production wineries that we would have never found on our own. We met and tasted with the owner/grower/winemaker at four of the stops. Plus, we made great friends with the people on our tour each day. Favorites were Casa Nuestra (Napa) and Inspiration and Desmond (N. Sonoma).

We went to 4 wineries and received personal attention at all the wineries. Steve had interesting stories to add to the tour along with a great lunch at one of the wineries. What a fantastic thing to do in Napa! I cant speak highly enough about this tour. Our driver, Chris, was EXCELLENT-- he put thought into which wineries he chose, he answered all of our questions, he took endless pictures of my friends and I for us, he made us an excellent lunch and snack, reminded us to drink water, and his driving was great. Its nice not to have to worry about driving or where to eat while wine touring. We just got to do the fun stuff-- trying new wines! I highly recommend the Platypus wine tour to anyone and everyone going to Napa.

With unique access from the tour, we met some of the winemakers, had a gorgeous lunch in the sun and were even treated to a chocolate pairing at our last tasting. The staff of Platypus brings the finest level of hospitality to their tours and goes above and beyond to give you special access and make sure you feel comfortable. I loved being introduced to new wineries we otherwise never would have found on our own and the colorful history and insight provided by our tour guide could make any visitor to Napa –– whether its their first time or their 100th time –– feel right at home. Allison was the best, very helpful and informative. For the first time I got an opportunity to visit a winery by an Indian owner, Mexican and an Australian owner, quite a surprise and excellent wine by the way.The wine owners were present and showed us the vineyards and the wineries in detail explaning about harvesting, crush season and so on... The lunch was tasty and enjoyed sitting near one of the wineries enjoying the vista.All in all a great experience and I will definitely recommend to other friends.Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Our wine tour was wonderful! We did the Sonoma tour and saw 4 very different wineries. It was a treat to see wineries that we may not have visited on our own. The cheese and crackers and lunch that they served was also a great addition to the day! Highly recommend this tour.
My wife and I made our first trip to Napa and Sonoma in mid-July. Since there are so many vineyards, we decided to take a look at tour companies to help guide us through this trip...and drive us to the vineyards! Platypus came highly recommended through reviews on Trip Advisor and they didnt disappoint! We had two great guides on consecutive days - Shawnda in Sonoma and Michael in Napa - and they were one of the highlights of a great trip! They brought great energy to the tours and that contributed a lot to the great time we had. They were also very knowledgeable about the areas we were in and the wineries that we were visiting. Michael even had a brief write-up about each of the places we were visiting! The places we went to were great and the wineries were very attentive to us...Im guessing the stellar reputation for Platypus helped to contribute to that as well. Im not sure when we will make another trip to Napa and Sonoma, but we will certainly use Platypus when we go again!
Andy and Rudy were excellent tour guides and made our trip through the Sonoma Valley an awesome experience. We had a group of 8 people and they provided plenty of water, snacks and even made us a picnic lunch as part of our tour. Andy Hymans experience and knowledge in wine country made the trip truly memorable!
This was such a great experience! We’d never been to Napa before but felt like this couldn’t have been a better company for first timers. They picked us up and dropped us off where we were staying, drove us in between each winery with bottled water and cheese & crackers, gave us lunch in between the 2nd & 3rd wineries, and our driver Dave really knew his stuff and educated us and kept us laughing. Wine tasting fee was not covered by Platypus, but buying bottles of wine waives the fee (which we were going to do anyway). Hands down will do again if we go back to Napa.
Being Napa newbies this tour was a lifesaver! We got to tool around town carefree, visit 4 wineries, and meet people from all across the country that were also on our tour. With that said, it is apparently also a great tour for frequent Napa vacationers. There was one couple on our tour who were touring with Platypus for their third time, who said they wouldnt go about visiting Napa any other way. We visited four fantastic wineries during the day, some of which I am pretty sure we wouldnt have gotten to tour if were werent with Platypus. When you arrive to the winery they typically have a table set up for just your group and a rep from that winery comes out and gives you a private tasting of sort. Our tour guide Army was awesome. He only had three wineries planned for us, and based the fourth one off of the group dynamic throughout the day. He ended up taking us to an amazing vineyard that specializes in Italian style grapes based off of a couple of group members comments about Pino Grigio. The lunch was also incredibly good. If you get a chance to do this tour I highly recommend it! I am sure all of the guides are stellar, but ask for Army if you get the chance!
This tour is a great way to explore Napa! This tour went above and beyond my expectations. I thought that this was just going to pretty much be transportation for the day. Toni did way more than that. She provided us with history tidbits while driving from spot to spot. We even made a stop to see a cork tree. She had a lot of knowledge of the wineries to pass on to us. She also came in to every spot and assisted at anytime we needed her to. We didnt even have to carry our wine over to the bus. We were also able to see wineries that I never would have thought to visit and I am glad we did! Toni is a fantastic tour guide and you can see the passion she has for what she does. I highly recommend this tour! The lunch and cheese and crackers that were provided were also great and being able to eat the lunch in a cave topped off the experience. Also there was an endless supply of water which was great.

We were fortunate enough to have Andy Hyman take us on a wine tour and he was incredibly knowledgeable and very enjoyable to be around. He took us to 4 great tastings and we learned so much and enjoyed it completely. Of course we joined half the wineries, as they were just what we liked. It was our first day at NAPA and I would recommend it for anyone.
The tour was awesome! This is my second time on the tour and the guides always make sure to take you to new wineries. We had a group of 7 and everyone had a blast. The home-made lunch was a nice touch!
Booked a private tour for my boyfriends birthday and it exceeded our expectations. Hes not a planner so I worked behind the scenes with Jenny and Sam to plan an amazing Saturday afternoon.Sam was so awesome. He took us to the CUTEST family winery (Tedeschi) for lunch and it was the perfect spot. The picnic table set up was awesome and the wine was fabulous. He also took us to Merryvale for a nice tour and a wonderful tasting.Everyone had a BLAST and he wasnt even phased by our group that can be out of control sometimes.Sam was so knowledgeable and gave us great tips for other wineries to visit while we were there.Thank you so much Sam & Platypus for a successful birthday trip!
We had such a wonderful time on our wine tour in Napa over Memorial Day weekend. Scott was great and so knowledgable. He chose 4 great wineries and the whole group really enjoyed the day. I would definitely use Platypus again!
I cant say enough good things about this touring company. My husband and I did Napa last year and we just did Healdsburg because we were up for the Half Marathon. I love Pete! Ask for him when you book your tours. Not only does he know about wine, he is a former school teacher and is really good about explaining the areas around Napa and Sonoma County. The lunch and cheese plate that they provide is plentiful and delicious too! You wont be disappointed! I ended up buying and ordering wine from Amista Winery which was on our tour. Its nice to go off the beaten path and enjoy wineries that are not the big commercial touristy ones.Have fun and say Hi to Pete for me!
I dont think there is any alternative to Platypus if you want to tour Napa valley. Whether its a one day tour or more than that, that you plan in Napa, definitely book a day with them. I read immensely great reviews on Trip Advisor before finalizing them and must say, I am more than satisfied. Be their selection of wineries, their cute mini bus with cheese and cracker platters, their hosts (ours was Pete and he is awesome), or the picnic lunch they gave, everything was just amazing. Need I say more? Keep it up Platypus, love you guys!!
What a gem! My husband and I used Platypus Wine Tours on our honeymoon in Sonoma and we couldnt have been happier with the price, service, provided lunch and winery/vineyard selection. We were completely overwhelmed at the number of options and places to go and they took all the planning out of our hands. I hope we have the opportunity to go on another tour with them soon!
Firstly, I am the anti-tourist. I avoid anything that includes a shuttle bus and/or group activities. With that said, I had a really good time. My mother talked me into taking a wine tour on our annual visit - we plan trips twice a year and Napa was this years pick. I chose Playtypus because I purchased a package deal with Napa Valley Balloons (NVB). Im a review reader and I did my homework on balloon companies before choosing NVB - including the companies they used for their wine tour options. This was the best choice for us.Around 10;30 am, a comfy shuttle bus arrived at our hotel for the wine tour. The driver was very nice and courteous. There were only 6 of us on the shuttle bus, so it made the tour a little more personal. The driver was knowledgeable and did a good job of keeping our attention on our trip and wine. Friendly enough to make the whole group seem relaxed and in good spirits. He took us to some really nice wineries. At first, I was a little disappointed to realize we had no choice in the wineries, but I soon got over that. The wineries we visited were excellent and offered nice selections. I found myself taking home 4 bottles. The lunch offered was nice, fresh and definitely needed. Funny how those little tastes of wine add up by the end of the day. :) Very glad someone else was doing the driving. We were back to our hotel by 4pm or so.Now, I have it rubbed in that I participated in group activities and enjoyed myself. Its all good, though. I truly had a great time. I would recommend Platypus Wine Tours to anyone and I will definitely be back for another tour.Thanks for driving us safely and making for an excellent visit to Napa!
Had a wonderful tour with my sister and her boyfriend visiting 4 wineries last week. Stephen was a knowledgeable and personable driver and he prepared a lovely picnic lunch for us as well. We got to drink well, make new friends, and hop around from winery to winery without fear of drinking/driving etc. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and we even got to try out a few wineries we had never even heard of.
Taking a Platypus Wine Tour is the best way to visit the Napa/Sonoma wineries. Shawnda was our guide and she was fantastic. I took her tour a couple of years ago and I was so glad that she was my tour guide again. She was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. She fed us a great lunch at the second winery we visited. We visited four small wineries and sampled many great wines. There was cheese, crackers and water on the tour bus for us to nibble and drink between winery stops. I highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting the area. It was a very pleasant and worry free experience.
This was the best tour ever! Mike was perfection as a guide, and so knowledgeable about wine. We learned, laughed, and enjoyed the day and each other. Our group of 12, was the perfect number with which to speak and interact. The wineries we visited were so enjoyable, especially our hosts Jason and Fred.. Kudos to all.
Great tour! I had loads of fun with my friends. A little pricey. The tour guide was awesome and funny. I recommend handing out pamphlets beforehand to prep the people on the itinerary and what wine they will be trying at each place. I missed out on my chance to make a purchase at the first place because I wanted to see what the other locations had to offer.
Did a tour of 4 wineries in Napa with 3 other girls for a birthday trip. We had the best time! Rod, our tour guide, was fun and easy going. He even ducked out and went and bought me a birthday cupcake while we were busy doing a tasting at a winery. So sweet! Great for all ages and groups.
Amanda went out of her way to make our wine tour with Platypus fantastic! We are gluten free and she had crackers and a special lunch for us! We did another wine tour while in Napa and it did not even compare. Amanda gave us so much insight into how wine grapes are grown and over all education on the wineries we visited. She also introduced us to our favorite vineyard in Napa. It was an outstanding experience! When we go back to Napa Valley we will do another wine tour with Platypus, maybe even two!
Roxie from Platypus was a great guide for our day in the Napa-Sonoma Valley in August 2013! We visited some wonderful wineries, enjoyed a great lunch prepared by Roxie, and appreciated the cheese and cracker plate between stops on the tour. I liked the way Roxie obviously knew her stuff and could talk about the wine (particularly when we had to wait a few minutes for a tour to start) but stepped back and let the guides at each vineyard shine. Most appreciated was the drop-off and pick-up at our resort, the bottle of water on our seats every time we came back to the bus and the discounts offered on tasting fees by each winery since we were with Platypus Wine Tours. I plan on using Platypus the next time we are in town!

2022-06-03Our tour guide selected three family wineries for us. At each winery, we were given a lot of great background information along with our tastings. A picnic lunch was served at our 2nd stop. Our guide had lots of water for us - important to hydrate while enjoying the wine.This tour is a great way to explore Napa Valley. You visit wineries you may not discover on your own, and someone else does the driving!Be sure to buy a wine box from your guide. We packed our bottles in the box and checked it as free luggage. Everything made it home intact.

2022-05-31We had a most enjoyable day on the tour to Napa with tour Guide Luis. He is friendly, and very knowledgeable about the region, vineyards and wineries. It was a small group of about 5 couples and one single person. Luis choose some small, more intimate and less crowded Vineyards. Great tour, would definitely recommend.

2022-07-11We booked onto a group tour and were very lucky to be part of a small group of lovely people. We had the option of being picked up from our hotel for our Sonoma Wine Tour. Our tour guide Stephen was very informative and very accommodating. He definitely knew the area and was familiar with the tour and what was to come. We visited three very beautiful vineyards, with delicious wines. Also the lunch provided was delicious especially as we are vegetarian! Highly recommend using them.

2021-12-03Sam is the best guide we’ve had for anything anywhere in the world. He made our Sonoma experience phenomenal and his wealth of knowledge on the region and its offerings is astounding! We learned so much from him.When another wine tour company canceled our trip at the last minute (because they didn’t have enough people signed up to make it worth their while), Platypus was our saving grace. They took us with less than 24hrs notice and we ended up with just one other couple on our tour (the ideal situation). We got to visit three beautiful vineyards/wineries in the area and everywhere we went, it was the VIP treatment! It was like we were traveling with the mayor: Sam knows everybody and is a local celebrity!The lunch provided was stellar (they even had a solid vegetarian option) and the service was impeccable. We got picked up at our AirBnb in the morning and then dropped off at our dinner reservation in the evening. Simplest process.Could not have asked for a better experience. 5 stars all around. 2022-04-01Platypus Tours was hands-down one of our favorite activities in Napa (and we did a TON)! Our tour guide was Andy and we absolutely loved him. Personally, I feel like we lucked out! We had tours with other companies in Napa and it didn’t compare to this one. Throughout the day we bonded with all of the guests and especially Andy. The bus was clean and we loved how we faced everyone so it forced all of us to get to know each other when in the bus. Also, Andy had cardboard boxes to purchase if we wanted to check wine on the plane, endless bottles of water, and an unlimited knowledge of the area and wine accompanied with booklets he personally put together for his tours. We highly recommend platypus tours!

2021-09-25My husband and I had an amazing experience with Platypus Tours. We went on the Sonoma tour, and they picked us up from our hotel. We went to three wineries, all of which were very high quality. The lunch was also very good and they even provided a vegan option. Our tour guide, Bob, was VERY knowledgeable and welcoming. Overall it was a great trip and I would highly recommend them!

2022-02-16We went in the Napa drop in tour and had the best day! Luis was our guide and was everything we hoped for and more. He was so knowledgeable about wine and the area, but also friendly and so funny. He took us to wineries we never would have found on our own and they were all amazing. It was the perfect way to spend the day and we would highly recommend doing a tour with Platypus.

Luis our tour guide was nothing short of amazing and hes absolutely hilarious and fun! He takes you to the wineries/vineyards that you most likely wont find on your own HIDDEN GEMS+-I enjoyed every one of them plus we just had a really amazing group!!

I cannot speak more highly of platypus tours and lookForward to the next time we have the opportunity visit Napa and attend another tour. Dave’s tour was so thoughtful and his incredible knowledge about both the history of the area and wine tasting was incredible. The lunch and each selected winery was perfect.We made amazing friends on our tour and couldn’t be more thankful for our experience! We will absolutely return for another trip with Platypus!Dave even made sure I got a little sparkling wine. ❤️ I cannot express how wonderful this day was.
