Nice, but commercial development makes it difficult to find the entrance if driving by car and looking for good signage. See my pics for visual aid.More than a few celebrities, though Hef has yet to be marked. Not sure if he still truly has the spot above Marilyn Monroe, as the lipstick makes you believe hes to the left of her. Farrah Fawcett and Rodney Dangerfield were easy to find on the road.Street parking was $1 an hour, and we just did that instead of trying to go in the gates.
I always say I’m going to stop by when in the area, and I never do. A very lovely place, it’s a good area to escape to for some peace and quiet. Though it’s hard to find the entrance to, you’ll be rewarded with a quiet setting away from the hustle just set around it. I came to see the Crane’s site, but you can make a nice walk around the area as well. Very friendly staff.
Everyone at Pierce Brothers treated both myself and my husband with the utmost care and respect in taking care of my Mother, Maisie Evans. And indeed, these were the 2 watchwords that we can apply to their treatment of her. We live in the UK and had the additional stress of dealing with this event in another country whilst not really knowing what the procedures would be in the US. Added to which, we were not allowed to fly out to the US because of Covid for quite some time after her death, but Pierce Brothers took care of everything for us and as I said in an email to them, we will be eternally grateful.
Earlier this year we buried my mother at this memorial as she wanted to be closed to Home. Given that we liked the specific grave location so much, we paid a premium to get two double stacked spots right next to each other, one for my mom and the other for my dad in the future. Were going to keep two spots empty as we dont want to put them on top of each other. The grounds are small and beautiful. Karen Carpenter, my moms favorite singer was buried here, and so we made sure my mom was buried very close to her. After my mom was buried, we noticed the grass on top of my moms grave was dead for two months (See the image). How this was missed for two months after daily maintenance is beyond me... I finally had to point this out to management for them to fix. This was very upsetting. Weve been monitoring the grave site ourselves regularly to make sure this doesnt happen again. Moreover, I submitted the final designs on the headstone on Jun 5th and didnt hear anything back for more than four months! I even saw other new grave sites with headstones before us and our headstones are much more standard than theirs. I had to again follow up on it which they replied back, but then I contacted again and no reply. Honestly, we just dont feel like they care about us. This isnt like buying a car. We lost a loved family member during an already depressing year. Wed expect at least a bit more attention and sensitivity to us.Im not sure why were getting singled out for poor service, but its clear Pierce Brothers doesnt track things very well in our experience and although the employees there are nice, theyre neither proactive nor organized.
Amazing, professional service. Funeral director Shannan made this experience as smooth as possible. She was in constant communication, her friendliness, professionalism and the work (makeup) she did on my love one was beautiful. I can not say enough good things about Pierce Bro. The chapel is beautiful as well. My family is well pleased.
As weird as this will sound, PBWV is my favorite place in the city of Los Angeles. A quiet green oasis in the middle of a neighborhood that literally grew up around it, and also an open-air history museum of sorts. Ive lost count of how many times Ive brought a takeout lunch and a notebook and sat by Billy Wilders grave, drawing inspiration for my own screenplays.
The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and so well maintained. The entire staff is thoughtful and compassionate on every level, to remembering our names, having cold water and treats available, umbrellas during the rainy season and even cut flowers to place for some recognized holidays. From the moment I walked in, Leticia Garcia was helpful beyond what I ever imagined. She assisted me with each and every decision, she never once made me feel rushed or uncomfortable, she took so much time talking to me, and even more time listening, to all my concerns.Letty is empathic, understanding and so very kind, and has made me and my family feel welcomed, and remembered, each time we are there. She has gone above and beyond to make sure everything for our family is exactly how we want it to be, and for that, I cannot thank her enough. It seems odd to say they feel like family there, but essentially they do, and for me that was entirely due to Letty.
I was there because of Marilyn Monroe #marilynmonroe she is my favorite actress, I admire her, she was very talented actress even after 59 years of when she is gone she still popular and in almost every country in the world people know her name and she is American Icon, and symbol of America 🇺🇸🌟
This urban oasis is a great secret to share with out-of-towners. But, I took to going there for the serenity and a rare sense of harmony with Life. It does not take much, but a walk though the final pages of other peoples lives is a great way to value and enjoy your own.
Its worth visiting to see the place where Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder found peace. We hardly found the entrance to the cemetery, at first we walked around a bit, orienting ourselves on the map in the phone. When they entered, they plunged into peace and quiet, as it should be in such a place. They found those to whom they came, looked at the graves and slabs. Peace and peace to these great people.
This is a small and charming cemetery, resting behind a high rise office building. Most of my family are here, along with many celebrity friends of the family. If you put all the talent buried here together, they could make one heck of a movie together. Definitely worth visiting.
The existence of this this place is not well known, even to locals. I work right across the street and about a year ago I showed it to some co-workers. They had no idea a cemetary was even there, much less who all is buried there! It is a pretty amazing place to visit. I love the oddities: only half of Truman Capotes ashes are here; women (and maybe some men too) put on red lipstick to kiss Marilyn Monroes crypt; Frank Zappa is here in a completely unmarked grave (but if you ask an employee, they will show you the spot); and some of the epitaphs are great: Merv Griffins reads I will not be right back after this message. Certainly worth a visit.
An amazing, beautiful and tranquil cemetery, yet so close to bustling Wilshire Boulevard. This is the final resting place of more well known people, per square foot, than any other cemetery. Map its location since the entrance is unmarked. Footnote : Elizabeth Taylors parents are in crypts and she was going to be interred here but changed her mind after attending Michael Jacksons memorial service at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.
I visited this unique final resting place for Hollywoods elite, on November 17, 2009 and let me tell you, the place is amazing! There are so many celebrities jammed packed into this small cemetery thats a stones throw away from towering office buildings and busy Wilshire Boulevard. Paying my respects to all, especially Dominique Dunne and Heather O Rourke was tremendous, Westwood is truly worth the visit!
I was luckey enough to visit this cemetery this past may 2016. What a beautiful place this is. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds kept up beautifully. Bathrooms were spotless. What an awesome place to be laid to rest. I was so impressed by everything I saw. I went into the office to say thank you for allowing us to visit everyones grave. The very sweet young lady I spoke with was so very nice and kind. I truly love this placeDonna Pollock
This place definitely deserves 5 stars. Not many people, including locals, know where it is situated. It is down a driveway next to a library. Look for Pierce Bros. If you do visit, make sure you take a map of the grounds that you can download as you will kick yourself that you didnt see everyone who is here. Very quiet, peaceful and you would not even know you were in LA. Definitely will visit again. Take flowers as well if there is someone there who is special to you.
Cemeteries (deceased celebrities) are not the usual kind of thing that people come to Los Angeles to see. Many travel from around the world to catch their favorite celebrity shopping or dining at a restaurant. Ive seen my share of them at the most unusual times and locations. Darryl Hanna sat next to me at a special screening of Disneys Fantasia a number of years ago. I literally bumped into Eric Idle when I was leaving a Pier 1 Imports in the Valley a number of years back, and Will Sasso while he was shopping at the Hollywood Pier 1 Imports. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, I ran into Jay Leno with his wife Mavis at a Century City mall after seeing a movie there. That being said, in addition to the normal every day people, there are a number of big celebrities who are intermed here. Some of the big names here are Hugh Hefner, Marilyn Monroe, Don Knotts, Dean Martin, Eva Gabor, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemon, Farrah Fawcett, Merv Griffin, Carol OConnor and movie mogul Darryl Zanuck and his wife Virginia. There is an interesting variety and display of headstones and burial sites. Some of them are very intricate (Don Knotts for example), others have signatures, photos of the deceased on the headstones or intricate engravings or images. There are mausoleums, fountain displays, engraved benches, plaques on the columns of areas with other headstones. You definitely feel the greatness of the entertainment industry here. It is a very peaceful place with lush lawns and flowers. It will make you think about how you want your burial site to be presented for loved ones.Worth the time to see it. Open daily from 10am to dusk.
One if the most humbling places a person could visit. Names of very famous people engraved on head stones, reminds you that The paths of glory lead but to the grave. One of my favorite personalities, BURT LANCASTER. Is remembered here with a one foot square bronze plaque. Reminds us all of our mortality, and not to take ourselves very serious.Life is a fleeing moment.
Beautiful and serene cemetery. Definitely a hidden gem in the city. Here you will find the final resting places of Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin, both in above ground crypts. Also in the plots on the lawn are Natalie Wood, Don Knotts and several others from Hollywood history!
The staff of Pierce Brothers Westwood were both helpful and comforting throughout our time of grief and sorrow. The Yeager family has a long and close relationship with Westwood Memorial Park and as a family we have always been treated with compassion and respect. Your commitment to beautiful surroundings and loving service will always be cherished. Thank you.
There is so much history in these 2.5 acres of land nestled in between the hi-rises that are in Westwood. Only a few blocks from UCLA this little park to the stars thrives. If you are coming up Glendon its to the right before you get to WILSHIRE BLVD. Dont get it confused with the big pink parking lot. It will seem as though you are going into a little alley way type road, you will then see the a discreet sign that say PIERCE BROTHERS WESTWOOD VILLAGE MEMORIAL CENTER make a sharp right and you will enter the gates go the Memorial Park, if you would like to start by going to Marilyn Monroes grave then keep going around the oak tree until you are a third of the way around the park. It is one of the most shiniest on the all so you cant miss it. It is said that someone hand cleans that dialy. Which reminds me, that although they open pretty early try getting there around 10:00 when the groundsmen have already done their daily watering. An interesting story about the man who is buried above Marilyn Monre, his name is Richard Poncher, he bought the plot from Joe DiMaggio after he divorced Marilyn. Richard Poncher wasnt necessarily a Marilyn fan but it is said that eventually who grew to have an affinity for Marilyn so he requested of his wife that he be buried face side down, facing Marilyn, that way he would always be on top of her.If you continue down to the end of towards the benches on the west side, you will find TRUMAN CAPOTE and JOANNE CARSON, they wanted to be buried together and here they are next to each other like true friends.I hope you come on down and check out this place, its worth it.
Visited October 2015.The entrance can easily be missed via Glendon Ave as we found due to a large truck parked in the road obscuring the entrance sign.I think it was $9 to park - at a cemetery?!? But then this is LA where you pay to park everywhere, but we parked for free on Malcolm Ave and walked the 2 minutes around the block. This cemetery is the final resting place of numerous celebrities, Marilyn Monroe, Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon to name a few but our visit was to pay our respects to Peter Falk and James Coburn
Looks like youre driving into a parking garage and not what we expected at all getting there. Once there its very peaceful and very well maintained. Not crowded at all. Was able to walk around and not feel like we were intruding. Would reccomend visiting if youre a tv or movie fan.
Im Cortney Page and go to Marilyn Monroes grave site on her birthday and death date every year when Im in the LA. We share the same eye color, height, hair texture, hands, feet and toes shape and even the birthmarks on our bodies are nickel sized or matching ones on our breasts, just a mirrored reflection of us.I believe the eyes are the gateway to the soul and believe that Im the reincarnation of the late-great actress born as Norma Jean. This maybe an MKUltra program? But I do believe my dreams and dejavu experiences is proof to myself that we have been here before and I wrote and registered my claim with the writers guild in the 80s when the revelation that even my name was designed for my 2nd mission on this planet. I do believe in an afterlife and that well meet again here on Mother Earth!
Visited 3.11.2012 i have always wanted to visit westwood memorial park i loved marylin monroe and always wanted to visit her in her resting place when i was there i also visited other movie stars graves james coeburn burt lancaster jack lemon peter falk many more if u ever get the chance go there u will never forget it if u are looking for any movie stars graves ask at park office they r really great
Unexpectedly beautiful graveyard between high-rise buildings in Westwood Village. Here are some Hollywood movie stars buried, which is not expected here without further ado. And it seems to be an old established company. The tree population is remarkable, as well as some names of the people buried here. The very fact that the cemetery got a drive-in character from the cars is a bit disturbing. If you have some time, a place of silence. Worth visiting!
With due respect for the place and for what it represents and certainly a place to visit.the tombs of great American artists can be found from Dean Martin to Marilyn Monroe.Quiet place located in the middle of the buildings.the first and only place where I managed to see a hummingbird flying quietly ...
I would like to visit some graves there like our dear farrah fawcett, our angel charly, when someone from our childhood leaves, part of our childhood leaves too, they die, it is a nostalgic feeling difficult to explain, but it is like that, I think Farrah left us very soon, all my affection and love for her family and friends from Spain ...

2020-10-25I never knew this little memorial park existed until I filmed a funeral there this week. Its small but certainly filled with very interesting names and features. We had a small service with just about 30 people and a mariachi band. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We traveled to a different cemetery for the actual burial but this was a lovely outdoor spot for the funeral service. Parking is just what you see here.

2022-05-05Mom and Dad are both here in this beautiful and intimate setting in the middle of Westwood. The staff is excellent and responsive and they made a big positive difference in helping us through the process. I truly feel like mom and dad are where they are meant to be.

2022-06-21PLEASE DO NOT BUY OR BURRY YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. The company not hold their employees accountable for their actions. They create and add new rules without any consideration for their loved ones. Again, do not buy anything from this company. This location may be nice but the company acts like dictators.

2019-12-06A hidden gem. Close to UCLA. Just off of Wilshire. Beautiful cemetery with many celebrities laid to rest here. If your anywhere near this area, I highly recommend that you take 30 minutes or so to walk these grounds. Its refreshing to see that some headstones are quite humorous.

2017-11-17A true honor to be able to show my respects to many whom I have admired and once loved. Was here on November 15,2017. Very quiet, beautiful cemetery. The staff are very friendly ,although you do not need permission to visit. The grounds are very well maintained.

2019-01-26A very well kept memorial in a very unexpected area, located between a group of large buildings. You can park on the street behind the cemetery and walk a block or two towards the main entrance. A number of celebrities are buried here; Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood, Jack Lemmon, Don Knotts, Farrah Fawcett, Sage Stallone, and many more. There is a great deal of history to view.

2020-02-22This is not part of the tour but our kind tour guide dropped us here for a brief visit. Marilyn Monroe & Hugh Hefner side by side. Very well maintained area which I suppose house most of the wealthy affluents from LA.
