I have been hesitant to write a review for a long time- I know reviews can impact businesses, but in this case people need to be aware.I sent in several vintage watches for service- and for the price, I was expecting high quality repair. When I finally got the evaluation, I was told a wild story about one of my dive watches having a paper clip stuck in the bezel when it arrived and that the wire inside the bezel was incorrect. The watch had never been tampered with, especially with a “paper clip” and was 100% original. Then, I was surprised by their lack of knowledge and experience when they incorrectly identified parts to one of my chronographs. What really pushed me over the edge to write this review was when I sent one of these “serviced” watches to a friend and because it wasn’t working correctly he had his watchmaker look at it- it looked as though nothing had been done to the watch at all, the movement was very dirty. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Excellent, fast service. I had a link added to a high end Seiko (time to lay off the cup cakes? ) And a battery to a not so fancy Bulova, out the door in 5 minutes. My first exploratory visit, not a fancy shop not a fancy area, but quality, fast, not pricey. Ill be back.
Recently got back into watch collecting and wanted to get some of my old watches tuned up with new batteries and bands. Researched online and saw all the good reviews about this location. Initially there was a little confusion on the services I was asking for, I got frustrated and thought I was going to have to leave without being serviced.Raimond came from the back to assist me in my request and was super informative and helpful. He replaced three batteries in under ten minutes and even did two band swaps for $30 ($5 per battery). I’m very happy to have these sentimental watches brought back to life. I told him I will for sure be back in the future to have my other watches tuned up.While there I noticed they had a huge selection of new seikos & citizens, as well as a large selection of used watches from $25 to $75.
I was in Pauls shop on Thursday in need of a watch repair. One of the pins had fallen out and needed to be replaced. He looked at the watch and replaced the missing pin as well as replacing the pin on the other side because he said it looked like it wasnt going to last much longer. When he was finished he said have a nice day and didnt charge me a dime....what an honest and professional guy....I appreciate it Paul...if you ever need any chiropractic treatment call me anytime....take care.Marc
Dealt with the father/owner, extremely knowlegeable, pleasant, and a gem to the watch community. Had 3 batteries replaced, installed a pin for my wife’s watch, reinstalled original bracelet on another watch, plus, retimed/adjusted my automatic and mechanical watches all for $20, thank you much for your service sir. Will be back for servicing my ETA soon. Just wished he was out here in Rocklin:) As a bonus, it was nice chatting with you sir about Eastern European history.
MY VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! This Father and Son team are the best in the Sacramento area! My Ebel watch kept stopping. Another repair place told me that the watch had to be fixed and it would cost $3,000. I contacted Pauls watch repair on email, and got responses immediately. They said they could probably repair, or if it needed, replace the movement for a few hundred dollars. They looked at it and found that the battery was not making proper contact inside the watch! They found a correct battery size, and for only $5 fixed the problem!!! They also tweaked the bracelet as I asked, and it too was only $5. These two gentlemen are the kindest nicest guys you could ever hope to meet, and they are absolutely incredibly talented, and mega experienced. I will never go anywhere else, too bad this is only five star review as I would have given them a hundred!! THANK YOU PAULS WATCH REPAIR!!!!
Pauls Watch Repair is amazing. I trust no one else to service my watches. Raimond is an artist. I have had my ROLEX GMT Master service by him and was 100% happy. I have had other high end watches, not as well known, serviced by him as well. Ive even worked a couple of trades with him and have ALWAYS been treated fairly. Ive been a customer for at least 10 years and will only let him touch any of my watches. He is a friendly, honest watch wizard, you will be happy with his him and his shop.Gary
I normally do not write negative reviews. Several months ago, we had Paul come to our home to repair our grandfather clock. He came out took the clock back to his shop and returned it. We paid for the repair and his trip to our home. I was slightly concerned when he brought our clock back in a paper bag but the clock worked well. After a week or so we noticed it slowing down. I called Paul who told me to tighten the screw on the bottom of the pendulum which I did to no avail. I finally had to take the pendulum in and Paul pushed the screw up into place and then tightened it. I was now concerned because he should have done that when he returned the clock.Fast forward, the clock stopped running. I called his shop, spoke to his son who said Paul would call me back . A week later, I called again. Paul got on the line and started arguing with me about the clock. He said it was now out of warranty and he would charge me $100 whether he fixed the clock or not. He said it was over a year and later said over two years. We havent owned the clock for a year nor have we lived in this house for a year. His tone was angry and hostile.asked him to verify his records as I have the cancelled checks to prove it was less than a year and the last time he came out if was $65. I dont mind paying him but the clock should still work if he competently fixed it.A good clock repair person, especially a third generation repair craftsman, should stand behind his work. I do not recommend Paul unless you live close by and can take your clock into him for repairs. In response to Pauls response, I offered to pay Paul to come out. The problem was with the repair he did. Paul started yelling and I finally had to hang up. His tirade was out of character and completely inappropriate.
Paul and Raymond always makes the customer feel welcome . I feel comfortable having them service any of my clocks and watches. They perform superb work and I have always trusted them. Fair and honest prices as well. I have add zero issues with any of my repair work performed at this shop, and I have had numerous over the past 10 years. I highly recommend Pauls Clock and Watch Repair to anyone.
Have an old pocket watch (Waltham) estimate that it’s from the 1930s that was my grandfathers. I couldn’t figure out how to wind or set it. Didn’t want to break it. Walked into Paul’s, and they looked it over, set it, showed me how it works. Said make sure you keep in the family…No charge. Thank you…
Needed new batteries and a couple of adjustments done on two wristwatches. Dropped in withoutan appointment on a Saturday was greeted immediately. The requested battery changes and adjustments were done while I waited requiring only a very short wait. It is rare to experience suchoutstanding services these days and the prices are terrific. Thanks to these guys I had a great day.
Great service, knew he could fix the problem right away. I dropped it off on the weekend and it was ready to pickup Monday. I had a Hamilton field watch with an ETA movement that stopped ticking, and I could hear some grinding. Paul showed me the part he replaced, the mainspring barrel had the teeth on the outside ground down. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a mechanical watch repaired.
I enjoy this place very much. With its friendly atmosphere of the father son co-ownership and especially the smell of coffee (even though they do not sell any, except for the Starbucks next door). The comfortable chairs and great deals on watches new, vintage, pre-owned and great deals on the maintenance of watches. Paul and his son Raymond are doing a great job running this business.
I recently purchased a vintage watch from Raimond to commemorate a special event. They were very honest and easy to reach by both email and phone. Raimond did not rush me into my purchase and wanted to make sure I was getting what I was looking for. The watch was shipped quickly and was exactly as described. Despite being out of state, I will not hesitate to return to Pauls next time I am looking. Highly recommended!
Paul’s watch shop is an Excellent place to take your treasured time pieces. The man is meticulous in his repair and guarantees his work for a very fair price. I understand he has been in business for over 23 years in the same place. I believe it.Good workmanship; Good price ..Honest with his customers.
Took in in my Grandfather’s 1959 Omega Speedmaster Deville in working condition, it had never been serviced or repaired, and I wanted it to be serviced and cleaned. After reading all of the reviews on-line, I thought my watch was in good hands, I was disappointed. Was helped by Paul’s son Raymond when I entered, when reviewing my Omega, Raymond appeared to be multi-tasking; speaking on the phone dealing with a situation and diagnosing issues with my watch at the same time; fumbling at times. After his assessment was done Raymond presented me with two options, both would be a full service with a new crystal and with a new pinyon correction and fix, the wobbly parts would be replaced with a new one; and the watch would be thoroughly cleaned (for $250.00), the second option additionally would include a full refurbishment (repainting) of the dial ($450.00). Raymond did not recommend the refurbishment of the dial, but was aggressively selling me the first option. I was hesitant and wanted to think about it, but he hustled me into a commitment. Raymond also employed selling techniques like telling me if his father had priced the watch service, the price would have been a lot more. He told me it would take a week at least, as his workload was heavy and the watch needed a lot of work.In two days, I got a call from Paul, telling me my watch is ready (so much for being busy). The watch appeared almost as dirty as when I had given it to him. My father who was with me noticed the same as we saw the watch. When I told him it was as dirty as before, he told me it was water damage and how the 2nd option he presented to me would have fixed that issue. On closer viewing a few days later, I found a scratch on the crystal of the watch, which I did not notice when I had picked up the watch, indicating the crystal had not been replaced. I went back to the store, I spoke to Paul this time; he reviewed the watch and admitted the crystal had not been replaced, and it was just cleaned. However, he said he remembered the conversation between his son and me; and replacing the crystal was not part of the deal.Feeling deceived I took my watch to another service center and an Omega Dealer – both told me the same thing. The watch was not cleaned properly, and no comment could be made to the service performed.I don’t expect anything extra from Paul’s store; however, I recommend you to get a work order before getting work done. Looking back, I should have asked for a written work order; this way he would not be able to tell me that changing the crystal was not a part of the deal. Did not realize I would be in this situation based on the reviews I read about him. There is nothing I can do, but just need to caution you to safeguard your experience.
Paul and his son have been the most reliable watchmakers in Northern California for years. I live in Oregon now, but still send my watches to them for service and repair and have referred them to others in the Pacific NW. Fast, reliable service that is fairly priced. Simply the best.
Raimond was recommended to me by my vintage Hamilton watch restorer as his go-to guy whenever he runs into a problem. After having trouble fixing the date complication on my Dads 1965 Hamilton, my restorer suggested I send it to Raimond. Raimond fixed the problem and serviced the watch for a very fair price.I recently sent a finicky vintage 1951 Hamilton to Raimond who fixed and adjusted it to perfection, again for a very fair price.Highly recommended!
This is a copy of another review I posted:I was forced to send my watch here as the company I bought it from has designated Pauls as its warranty servicing place. I sent them a watch with a bezel that wouldnt turn. They told me that it wasnt covered under warranty and that they would need to soak it in some bath from 3 months and it would cost me $100. It sounded very fishy to me so I said no. I recently took the same watch to a local watchmaker who took the bezel off and told me that parts had been removed including a spring. This is outrageous and quite frankly, a disgusting business practice. To fake an intensive solution and then when the customer refuses to sabotage the watch is beyond me. Please do not take your watch here, I implore you.
The watch was so badly tarnished and the crystal so bad you could not see the face of the watch clear or some of the numbers at all.I took my departed Dads vintage 1954 Lord Elgin wrist watch to Paul’s just over a year ago. I ask if the crystal could be replaced and if the watch could be repaired, “it did not run”.He opened the watch case and removed the movement. He looked at it for a short time why I waited. He then told me it could be repaired. When I pick the watch up it had be repaired, crystal replaced and face looking new. The once badly tarnish watch had also been beautifully polished. It’s 64 years old and shining and keeping time today like it was new. I could not be happier with the work he did.PM DunnSacramento, CA
Sadly, he had difficulty replacing a battery and broke the crystal. It was a modestly priced disney watch and although he replaced the crystal, the case was scratched. To top it off he was annoyed he took the job (cheap watch, a loss to him), but he was rude about it and now I have a treasured watch that my late wife gave me that is permanently scratched. This happened a few years ago (to be fair).
Had a Howard Miller mantel clock that we had overwound and stopped working. We put off fixing it because we had gotten expensive quotes. Some years later I took it here and the gentleman was very polite and fixed it for far less than I would have expected. Highly recommend!

2022-05-14Paul is always there. He is the guy that other watch repair shops send their repairs to. He is a Craftsman of excellent character, soft spoken, and his Family has been doing this for 3 Generations. The prices are very reasonable, and the one piece that I had to leave with him was ready the next day. This shop is an EXCELLENT FIND!! Watch batteries installed for 5 bucks...a good inventory of beautiful, vintage time pieces, and...for me...the ONLY place I will take my watches and clocks for repair from now on!

2022-03-08Absolutely one of the best watch repair families in the business. High integrity and competitive prices. Paul and Raymond will even tell you when not to invest in fixing a watch. Great sense of humor as well. Everytime, I visit Paul shows me something new about the watch I am getting repaired. Four generations. Encyclopedic knowledge of the industry. Replacement batteries are still only $5. Definitely my go to place for getting the job done right.

2021-02-19I have many watches and Pauls Watch Repair is the best in our area. They have been around for many years and are experts in their trade. Forget about going to the Mall for a repair or new watch battery, Pauls will repair it on the spot while you wait. I would highly recommend any and all watch servicing and repairs to these professionals.

2022-03-08I gave Paul 4 watches to put batteries in. One watch needed some work but I told him if its too expensive then call me, I will be shopping in the area. He called and said $70 for the particular watch. I picked up all four watches 45 minutes later. He said the problem watch is fixed too. A few days later, the watch is not keeping time. I take it back to him and he said further work needed to be done and it would be another $150. I asked why did he try to fix it if it wasnt worth it? He kept saying another $150 and would not give me a refund on what I had already spent on it ($70).I said Im going to throw it out and was disgusted in the customer service. He said just leave it with him... I said NO, Im going to throw it out when I get home and walked out knowing I wont ever go back for any service.I have run my own business for 17 years and know what customer service should be like. I, for sure, did not feel it at Pauls Watch Repair.
