Welcome to Old Pasadena. Theyve got a city hall the size of a State Capitol, a gorgeous old spanish-revival style hotel, a full size convention center and more restaurants than I could count. Youll drive by the nearby neighborhoods wishing that you could afford one of those handsome homes. If youre in SoCal and have time for a morning stroll this is a great place to do it.
Great for a night out with plenty of shops, dining, and entertainment options to go to. My only complaint would be the traffic and parking during the busy hours. You just gotta know where and keep track if you dont want to pay for parking. Otherwise, Old Pasadena is great.
Definitely has a charm to it. Has a great mix of modern and classic architecture throughout the city. I highly recommend walking through iteven if its just for a day to check out. Whats more is that the night life is pretty pumping as well. Parking is pretty ample and theres a lot to do you wont be bored I promise.
Love walking down Colorado boulevard in Old Town. Each building is unique. Stop window shopping often to look up at the unique designs that crown each building. Imagine when this was that famous Route 66. There are so many wonderful places to eat. Youll want to return h ed re often as I have. Bring your friends here. And dont miss walking under Pasadena City Hall.
A wonderful location for lodging and restaurant and entertainment, Rose Bowl is in walking distance. And you close by to jump on the highway to head to Malibu thats a hour drive or Palm Springs, Downtown LA is less then 30 minutes away and Dodger Stadium is close. Best location to visit a lot nice places.
The houses are worth driving around and looking at some incredible architectural styles and historic homes that can be enjoyed streetwise. If you are looking for Spanish Revival antiques there are some incredible shops. Good restaurants, great neighborhood for a walk, close to the Metro. Pasadena has recovered from some bad years in the 70s and 80s.
I was only waiting for a bus but noticed that all the restaurants were so full that although out on sidewalks; that it didnt make a difference whether they were wearing masks or not. This is probably why Pasadena should close them down because the people arent paying attention. The sidewalks were so crowded I had trouble getting around.
I really enjoy this location for lots of reasons what can be that they play great music and all the spots nearby so get ready and bring your favorite dancing shoes. Some locations have pool tables so you dont necessarily have to dance they also have arcade games so we can get our game on. Most of the locations on this street are closing at 2 a.m. dont drink and drive. Please drink responsibly. There are checkpoints and cops everywhere on the streets and if you are too drunk they will arrest you. You have been warned keep that in mind, have fun.
Old Town Pasadena is pretty great. Tons of great food options, great local bars (is you know where to find them) and decently priced parking with free electric vehicle charging. Theres good live band options on the weekend too. Only thing really lacking is a good dance club but other than that its a nice place to spend an afternoon or night on the town.
Old Pasadena has an array of old buildings some been carefully renovated and all very interesting architecturally. There are no bus tours, only private cars for small groups which tend to be expensive, so best research yourself and get out there. There are some great shops, antiques, bakeries, teashops and lots of restaurants. Some upmarket stores too so something for everyone.
Great place to hang out, stroll along the streets and for shopping and dining. Parking is a while different story here. If you know where to park it can be cheap and easy but also expensive if you park at the wrong spot or for too long. Its also a great place to watch people. You will see some luxury cars driving down the street or parking along it. Especially at night times its a great place to enjoy yourself.
Great dense place filled with endless shops and things to experience. Group of friends came here to kill some time and we went into numerous shops Ive never heard of and capped it with some authentic ramen. The place is filled with people asking for money on the streets but if you can ignore it, its worth it.
This place is essentially an outdoor mall. Nothing really old or authentic about it in my opinion. Yes, maybe some of the building facades have an old look to them, but whatever historical value this town once had has been replaced by modern day shopping and underwhelming food options.Worth driving through, but I regret taking the time to walk around and explore.
I love Old Town Pasadena!!!! Its a great place to take a stroll and people watch! So many choices when it comes to dining and shopping. The best time to come is during the holidays when the area and stores are decorated for Christmas and its chilly at night...make sure youre bundled!Only downside is the parking situation. It can be tough to find street parking (bring lots of quarters) but many places do validate.
Old Town Pasadena is a successful American story of a small town able to turn around after 50 years of weak downtown innovation. It was not until the 90s that a major revival began. Before that, there were mostly warehouses and local shops that did not attract out of town visitors. The citys desire is time to improve the old town, by attracting many outside businesses, except fast food franchises, to open up in Old Town, It was a home run, thats for sure. But what do locals get out of this? The same failed school system, a high crime rate and high housing costs.Parking problems are no doubt the #1 issue here. Any street costs money to park in Old Town, the only way to avoid it is to go to the 3 public structures which validate for up to 90 minutes free parking. There is almost no underground parking structure despite the need for one. This town has got more gastropubs than a typical family restaurant. No doubt its a great place for young and middle age couples to hang out in. Alhambras recently improved Main Street is their direct competition as is Glendale and Montrose, which offers many similar restaurants, though less selection, but it is less crowded and most importantly, much easier to find parking in. Many of its buildings are historic and in surprisingly good shape. Theres also a good number of semi high end restaurants and shops here.If you want a good old family restaurant or to grab a quick lunch break, you need to head north of the 134 freeway or on to Lake Avenue.
Im bored with old town Pasadena. Its sort of the default when you want to take pleasant walk and window shop. Parking enforcement is non lenient. The shops have not changed in forever as the food options. Its not Pasadenas fault...its me...really...just been there done that.
Great shops and restaurants, lots of variety, fairly accessible parking in reasonably priced lots. BEWARE OF VERY HARSH parking penalties ($46 for an expired meter or park over the limit if no meter), promptly applied. My family used to spend more time shopping and dining in Old Pasadena, but the parking fines have chased us away. No matter how hard you try, at some point the line in the store is going to be slow. I have just put my stuff down and walked away because my time is up. If I have the time to park in the lot and walk to the stores, I may as well just drive to the Glendale Galleria or Santa Anita. For the quick shop, there is some street parking in Old Pas that is free but is ONE HOUR only. If you risk street parking, make sure you check the sign and know exactly how long you can park in your space. My advice: unless Pasadena eases up on the parking fines, if you actually want to shop, drive to a mall. If you want to stroll around and kill time, Old Pas is a great place to go. Just remember to park in a lot.
Every so often Ill make trips to this area of Pasadena and quite frankly, I love the distinction of its turn of the century architecture and Spanish revival arches of their city hall. Their Iberian inspired garden appeals to anybody, whether theyre locals or visitors like myself. Naturally, it gives an Old World appearance and adds charm of its beauty while the San Gabriel Mountains are in the background. Some buildings have a late 19th century brick structure, Greek revival arches of their public library, and modern forms of transport are nearby, namely the Metro Gold Line. Theres plenty of events thatll occur during the weekend and it has a lively social atmosphere of persons of interesting backgrounds. Weekend events stem far beyond the Rose Bowl or annual ones such as the Arroyo Seco Festival. Interestingly, theres live music and local artists promoting their art for potential admirers. Overall, pay this spot a visit, I love this city!
Gorgeous as only Pasadena could be. You cannot, and you should not visit California, Los Angeles, without paying the city of Pasadena and its historic Old Town a heart-felt visit. Local (American) and International Food, Music, Entertainment, Shopping galore, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!Old Town has always held a special spot in my heart. I invite you to go there and find a place in your own heart for it.
So what is the deal with Old Pasadena. Like why does it have to be called Old like it was some sort of unfashionable old guy? I dont know the answer to this question but I do know that Old Pasadena is in Pasadena and it doesnt matter how old you are as they say age is just a number.
Old Pas is one of the most charming places Ive ever seen, but more than that a lot of business happens here. Just walking across the diagonal streets, you could run into one of the top tech companies in the country. Old Pas is home to Cross Campus, Innovate Pasadena, Idea Lab, Copa Vida, and so much more.
Old town Pasadena manage to include a good variety of restaurants, shops, and bars. We come here several times a year to dine. Our favorite restaurants include Mi Piace and Cafe Santorini. Parking can be an issue, especially on weekends. At least one of the public parking garages gives you 90 minutes free on weekdays, but it gets filled up pretty quick.
Four stars because its a nice change of scenary. I use to live in North Hollywood and would spend some time here. Its been awhile since Ive been back. Its got familiar staple shops like any other hangout spot in any given city. Then you pass a bus stop with Ellen Dengeneress face all over it. Shops begin to peak your interest as a Lamborghini driven by a 30 something checks his hair in the rear view and winks at himself. Then you realize oh yes. Im not in San Diego. I can see downtown LA in the distance. High end car dealers at one end of Colorado. Its cool and its chill in Old Town Pasadena. Its a touch less pretentious. Kind of miss living in LA.
Spent a rainy, cold weathered evening with my wife at the GRANDVIEW PALACE Chinese Restaurant. This restaurant was formerly located on Fairoaks, but relocated a few years back to its current location on Raymond Street. We had a LARGE bowl of WU Wonton Soup that the waiter had the chef divide into TWO large bowls. We didnt even request this, but he knew a large bowl was way too much for two old folks. And the soup was LOADED with SHRIMP, SLICED BBQ PORK, VEGETABES, and of course, WONTONS. And when I state LOADED, I mean ... LOADED. Much more chewing than slurping. Plus, an order of POT STICKERS, and a pot of Hot Tea. Total cost, $22.00! Talk about a Cheap Date, .... my wife was full as a thick, and happy as a new bride. To pass this restaurant up would be a definite mistake. SMILES. 😁👍😎
Pros: solid restaurant choices, Pasadena architecture and areas of interest (albeit not within walking distance of Old Town)Cons: aggressive ticketing on streets, waits in parking garages, vehicle break -ins (including garages)If I cant find easy parking or have to wait for the garages, opt not to stop when by myself.
Old town pasadena is the best touristic place for understanding urbanization spheres in cental locations away from city life & close to urbanization life. you receive a taste of california people, life-styles as you delve into the underlocking of individuals belief systems. theres def much more personability as you also begin to serf with the california waves of free-going life.

2022-05-01We were there between 1-3 pm on Monday. Nobody on the streets. We wasn’t on the tourists place, instead we walked into unpopular streets. This city is gorgeous. That’s how Los Angels supposed to look ideally. Clean streets, no homeless, flowers, trees! Love it

2022-02-15I was born and raised in Pasadena. My parents still live there. I went to Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College, so Im a product of the Pasadena Unified School District. I spent my youth in and around Pasadena so its fair to say I know it better than most. Lets talk about Old Town Pasadena.I remember the days when you didnt go to that side of town. Old Town Pasadena was just the run-down side of town, with old buildings and boarded up businesses, and hobos in the alleys. Ernie Jr.s was THE Mexican restaurant to go to, the only reason to go to Old Town, and sadly it hasnt been around for years. I heard that skyrocketing rent drove them out.But I digress.Old Town Pasadena is a rejuvenation of a district that is par to a miracle. Businesses have moved into those beautiful, old buildings. There is life and excitement there. Gone are the days of Qs billiard hall (which was really fun) and some locations have changed businesses, but on the whole, its a district worthy of tourism, a chic and timeless locale for everyone to enjoy. Make sure you check out the Norton Simon Museum of Art while youre there (and I used to work there, so I can tell you that its very cool). This is what Rodeo Drive wishes it was - quaint, not overwhelming, but classy and cool, with plenty of restaurants and shops to spend your money in.Enjoy an old town experience like nothing else. There is nothing in America like Pasadena, California - and for good reason!

2021-07-16Quaint well kept downtown. Most restaurants offering interior and exterior. Shop owners generally make you feel welcome. Extremely handicap friendly. Most alleys are set up in a mini strip mall environment. Very pretty

2020-02-14I loved it! It was really great! Me and my wife took the train. We took the Gold Line and got off at the Del Mar station. It was really awesome. We were able to then walk to Old Town Pasadena. There are a lot of great shops there. And its a great way to escape Los Angeles and we didnt even need a car! Cant wait to go back and try those different shops.

2022-05-10Nice place for dining and shopping, but has seemed to have changed due to homeless people due to closely Goldline train station which transports many different people. Be careful walking around Old Town Pasadena, especially at night
